The Lefties Need a Panic Room (or maybe a padded room?)

Uh oh. They’re beginning to panic!

Primal Scream by TPM’s Josh Marshall:

The TPM email bag this morning is chock of emails saying, in so many words, is it time to panic? [...]

[W]e’re left to take it on faith that [Obama's campaign people] know what they’re doing, without having much way of seeing for ourselves [in the messaging and air war].

I certainly hope they do. But what I see is a campaign that is for some reason either unwilling or unable to take the initiative in the national messaging war. It’s all reactive. And, yeah, that worries me.

We’re Gonna Frickin’ Lose this Thing by HuffPo’s Adam McKay:

“Stop saying that!” my wife says to me. But this is not a high school football game and I’m not a cheerleader with a bad attitude. This is an election and as things stand now, we’re gonna frickin’ lose this thing. Obama and McCain at best are even in the polls nationally and in a recent Gallup poll McCain is ahead by four points.

Something is not right. We have a terrific candidate and a terrific VP candidate. We’re coming off the worst eight years in our country’s history. Six of those eight years the Congress, White House and even the Supreme Court were controlled by the Republicans and the last two years the R’s have filibustered like tantrum throwing 4-year-olds, yet we’re going to elect a Republican who voted with that leadership 90% of the time and a former sportscaster who wants to teach Adam and Eve as science? That’s not odd as a difference of opinion, that’s logically and mathematically queer [sic]. …

To what does McKay point as the biggest reason the Democratic ticket is going to lose?

THE MEDIA.

Why?

Because they’re owned by EVIL CORPORATIONS.

Never mind that Barack Obama has enjoyed such worshipful and positive press it’s a wonder that the Vatican hasn’t beatified him yet.

Adam has a bunch of other reasons, including voter fraud. That will no doubt give NancyA here fits of giggles, given the shenanigans that ACORN and MoveOn are pulling around the country, and which NancyA has done a superb job of chronicling.

::::::::::

Not once do these Obama followers take a good hard look in the mirror.

Not once do these Obama followers consider that — through thuggery and vicious attacks — they beat down the very best, most qualified, most knowledgeable, and most experienced candidate AND every one of us, her still-devoted supporters.

They just don’t get it.

They just don’t realize that the average American sees through the rhetoric of Barack Obama and is worried that he simply doesn’t have enough experience or hasn’t earned the nation’s trust.

There was a fascinating blog post a few days ago that I’ve kept open in a window, waiting for a chance to feature it. The title:

WHY OBAMA DIDN’T WAIT

You’ll love this section:

Obama should have waited four years or eight.

But he didn’t wait – even though he knew he wasn’t ready:

SO, WHY DID HE IGNORE HIS OWN OPINION AND RUSH INTO IT LAST YEAR??

Because his collective (Ayers, Axelrod, The Chicago Machine, Teddy Kennedy et al) decided this was the year – (because of the weakening economy, a faltering war in Iraq, low approval rating for the GOP and Bush, etc.): they all believed all they had to do was pick off Hillary and they could waltz into the White House.

So they pushed him in.

Too bad for them The Surge worked and the economy has been holding off a recession – albeit by the slimmest of margins. (If we can get oil down some more I think there will be no recession. PREDICTION $99/barrel within ten days!)

But more importantly, the Obama Collective failed to see ONCE AGAIN that most Americans don’t want to return to the failed policies of the past.

We don’t want Carter Redux.

(Read all at The Astute Blogger.)

::::::::::

Do the besotted Obamabots need a panic room? Or a padded room?

Or just a whole hell of a lot of conversations with REAL, REGULAR Americans. You know, those “white trash” people.

Only then will they begin to get a clue as to why real voters are just plain worried about Obama — because he IS NOT ready.

Here’s one thing that the besotted Obamabots will learn: Those “white trash” Americans ALWAYS vote.

Because they HONOR their country and they were raised by their “white trash” parents to know that voting is a sacred obligation.

On November 4th, the elitist Obamabot youth who’ve never had to work two jobs to keep food on the table may roll over in bed or get into a conversation with a hot new love interest and forget all about voting.

But those “white trash” people will show up and vote.

They are the Americans we’ve always been able to count on, for everything from voting to fighting our wars.

They’re people who are alien to the lefty elitists, but most of us at this blog know them, and many of us ARE them.

– Susan, a proud “white trash” voter

    Obama is toast and well done toast at that.

  • ???????

    Where’s Keith O’s ego at? Perhaps those who think they are “wise” will be confounded.

    Perhaps Americans have discovered we are not ready to give this country away to someone who is learning how to drive in busy traffic.

    It simply would not surprise me if Obama thinks he is a prophet. I have never seen anyone act so entitled for having accomplished NADA.

  • BernieO

    They have a terrific candidate? Not so much. And a lot of people sense that he is weak, even though the media has been selling him like crazy. I think he probably has (had?) the potential to be a terrific candidate in 8 years, assuming he got some humility and decided to buckle down and really prepare himself. But he seems to think he is above that kind of normal human approach.

    “A terrific candidate and a terrific VP candidate”..
    Barf !! Leave aside Barky and his obvious flaws but Biden was one of Bush’s biggest cheerleaders in the months following 9/11, making every effort to sing his praises and be photographed with him. His appearances on the Sunday talk shows used to be positively servile to the Bushies and Biden can be the most servile of all servants if it suits him ; as he is being now…

    Obama’s subliminal racism. Read this article by Jake Tapper. It is quite revealing. And it says what a low life Barack Obama is. I am sorry, but what kind of language does Barack think is becoming of those who listen to him.

    We’re coming off the worst eight years in our country’s history.

    Really? What about the period from 1929-1945? 1959-1975? 1914-1917 was pretty bad, How about 1861-1865. McKay wouldn’t know bad if it hit him in the ass.

    Perhaps one positive accomplishment of the Bush years is that the electorate has been trained to see through all those lies. We have been, for the most par finely tuned to more quickly (except for the Obots) recognize the BS. We are seeing the BS that the BO is trying to sell us. “Something is not right. We have a terrific candidate and a terrific VP candidate. We’re coming off the worst eight years in our country’s history.”

    This guy is off his rocker. THE WORST EIGHT YEARS IN OUR COUNTRY’S HISTORY? Is he completely INSANE? I would say the Civil War would probably top the list, followed by the Great Depression. And heck, I was only a child then, but I am old enough to remember that the 70s were a HECK of a lot worse than the 2000s.

    We haven’t even been in real recession the past 8 years, even after 9/11, we held on pretty well as a nation. For pete’s sake.

    And to suggest that Biden is a “terrific” VP candidate? Good lord.

    (If we can get oil down some more I think there will be no recession. PREDICTION $99/barrel within ten days!)

    World demand for oil has fallen sharply. The spike to $4 here in the US has caused nearly everyone to adjust their driving habits and frequency.

    After being shocked into eliminating unnecessary driving, and realizing significant personal budget savings, the public is not going to suddenly go back to the old habits.

    OPEC is contemplating reducing production to correlate with the reduced demand.

    Jim Cramer on MAD MONEY has told his viewers to hold off on oil investment since he sees oil returning to $60 – 80 dollar / barrel.

    Cramer is BULLISH on CNG, as I am, as CNG will be dominant source of energy in the future in the US.

    Many of the Obamabots I’ve heard from lately seem to think they have to high tail it out of the country by November. Wonder why? What country will want them? Cuba? They seem to think the McCain means perpetual war, and bad schools and just terrible unnamable things. Good by to the health care plan which I doubt would have been something Obama would have time for between trips to the gym. I would be more wary about Obama’s war ability and plans. Well since they are all going to leave the country soon of their free will, I guess the Democratic Party can be run by more competent people with Democratic ideals.

    This one Obama slur caught my eye:

    Wow. The Obots are simply clueless. They have no idea what the rest of the country is thinking. Many of them are going to need serious counseling after November 5th. Since, he wasn’t elected by the majority of Democrats, and had to be helped by the DNC and the party elite to secure the nomination, they should have seen this coming, but alas, they are clueless. HE INFILTRATED OUR MAILING LIST AND NOTICED THAT, IN ONE POST, I MENTIONED, IN PASSING, THAT I HAD GONE TO ONE OBJECTIVIST MEETING IN COLLEGE about one-third of a CENTURY ago OUT OF CURIOSITY BECAUSE I'D JUST READ AN AYN RAND BOOK. I can't remember why I mentioned it, but it meant nothing more than bringing up an old, old memory. YOU are also quoting someone who cyber-stalked other members of our animal welfare group, and THREATENED US WITH VIOLENCE.

    GET A CLUE, YOU TWIT. YOU'LL BELIEVE ANYTHING BAD ABOUT ANYONE. But that you'd quote someone who is so odious that I HAD TO CALL THE F.B.I. ABOUT HIM is repugnant.

    Dr. Kate,

    MacKay is the author of the HuffPo article. It is worth reading. It offers insight into the mind of someone who is trying to understand why his terrific candidate is failing. Because he is is unable to see that his candidate is not terrific, he assumes that something must be wrong outside of the campaign. Fascinatingly, he assumes anti-Obama media bias is the cause of the failing and he mentions MSM as one of the perpetrators (Apparently, he must think that the independent analysts that say otherwise must be Republicans). He is a stock example of a minor case of “beloved leader syndrome.”

    http://www.frontiersman.com/articles/2000/05/23/news.txt

    While the Alaska State Troopers and most municipal police agencies have covered the cost of exams, which cost between $300 to $1,200 apiece, the Wasilla police department does charge the victims of sexual assault for the tests.

    Wasilla Police Chief Charlie Fannon does not agree with the new legislation, saying the law will require the city and communities to come up with more funds to cover the costs of the forensic exams.

    In the past weve charged the cost of exams to the victims insurance company when possible. I just dont want to see any more burden put on the taxpayer, Fannon said.

    Just remember with Palin at the helm not only will you be paying for the tests to confirm you were raped, you also won’t be able to have an abortion if you get pregnant from said rape.

    Yes, XBox Live will have a way to register to vote, apparently. There’s also an article on Huffpo called “Obama & Biden go back to a losing message”. I scanned the comments on this one & the “Frickin’ lose this thing” Susan mentions in her post. I couldn’t believe how low these arrogant punks have fallen. Every once in a while, someone would comment, “Can we have Hillary back?”

    No high school people. No college people. Why?
    Because they know things about Obama. And my number one guess– and this is without even thinking about Mr. Larry Sinclair– Obama is bisexual. And nobody wants that to get “out.”

    They parade everyone in the known universe to tell stories of John McCain being a bit of a youthful
    shit-heel. But Obama– nope. Nobody knows him.
    And his friend from high school– the one who appeared– was shuffled off the scene immediately and the Obama Camp covered him up with saying he tried to blackmail Obama.

    Tried to blackmail Obama with what, I ask? WITH WHAT? Blackmail only works if you’ve got something on the other person. So what is there from Barack’s high school/undergrad days that needs so desperately to be covered up?

    There’s only a handful of things to blackmail him with, aren’t there? Gay? Drugs– but he admitted to using drugs. Violent behavior — perhaps towards a female. Did he get someone pregnant?

    I made lots of GOTV phone calls for Hillary this year and spoke with a great many people in states across this nation — Reps, Dems, Indies, in “red” and “blue” states (labelling which has got to go by the way because it is destroying us all) — there are many thoughtful, super smart individuals out there and for “liberals” to be “elitist” and act like everybody else are just the “fly-over people” is a disgrace and now their chickens are coming home to roost.

    Obama’s campaign and many of his followers were arrogant and rude, passing judgment on anyone who didn’t vote for him. We have good reason not to. Instead of them reaching out and trying to educate themselves as to the problems, they just kept up the insults. Sorry. Not acceptable.

    And whatever they do now will be phony-baloney pandering. It’s way too late and more than a dollar short.

    They also should have thought of all this before kicking the best candidate to the curb.

    That he had to destroy Hillary Clinton in the process makes me sick

    But that part of it is totally up to her. Obama cannot destroy Hillary. She has been smeared, belittled, taken for granted and insinuations of racism have loosely been thrown at her and Bill. But how she responds to this is totally up to her. I would hope she remains strong, and does what she knows is right. Right for her, right for her supporters and right for this nation. Personally, I don’t think supporting Obama, or attacking either McCain or Palin is a productive use of her time and skill. Help fellow democrats in elections… yes. Ensure her own reelection in her district… yes. Plan to be the go to person to coordinate change from the democratic side under McCain Palin… we are going to need this… and this will be appreciated by the nation… both democrat and republican. But those decisions are hers alone. I can only hope. But hope… seems somewhat more than audacious as of late.

    I’m so glad you said this. To me, it’s indicative of a person who really does not like people. I see him as a misanthrope. And if that’s what he really is, he has no business being a politician much less running for president.

  • Dan

    “Something is not right. We have a terrific candidate and a terrific VP candidate.”

    Uhh …. No, you don’t. You have a very flawed, albeit charismatic, presidential candidate. As for your VP candidite, the opposition’s VP candidate got more votes when she ran for mayor of Wasilla, AK than your VP candidate got this year for president. I’d hardly call either one “terrific”.

    “We’re coming off the worst eight years in our country’s history.”

    Again, not quite. Although we’ve had our share of issues, somehow I don’t think the past four years would even remotely compare with 1929-1937 or 1861-1869.

    “I won’t be back…” Promise?

    SusanUnPC, your post reminds me of a story that NPR (National Pampers Radio) ran in December of 2004 where they collected sound bites of people who voted for Bush in November, and then heard about the war assessment. One guy said, “If I knew then what I know now I wouldn’ta voted for him this time.” If I could have put my foot in the radio and kicked that guy’s ass I would have…twice!

    The Pamperbots are beyond help. I think it would be a worthwhile investment to spend our tax dollars on an uninhabited island in the South Pacific where all the Pamper Poopies can go live and worship the Ovomit without the meddlesome media getting in the way.

    It is strange the Obama apparently has no friends (other than Wright, Pfleger, Ayers and Rezko), but I really don’t think we should stoop to the level of the Obama propaganda agents at the DailyKos and make accusations or speculations about Zerobama that we can not prove to be true.

    There is so much evidence that he is an underqualified, un-patriotic, dishonest candidate with horrible judgement. So, unlike the DailyKos, we don’t need to just throw out rumors and see if something sticks.

    We are Americans here, not Kossacks.

    Thanks for posting, Jimbo. Seriously. You perfectly personify the kind of childish, vindictive idiot that the Democratic Party so desperately needs to flush out of its ranks before it can start winning national elections again.

    Hillary and Bill are class acts. Obama kicked Hillary to the curb, and now he’s having lunch with Bill on Thursday presumably to pick his brain for campaign strategies and probably policy matters too. Bill should tell him to take a hike!

    Shame on Obama for repeatedly dissing the Clintons, and now they’re supposed to bail him out–unbelievable.

    I am thoroughly disgusted with the democratic party, as if I wasn’t before. I have actually been trying to watch CNN a little to see what news is getting out to bots. It is difficult! Anyway, today they said that the dems are making t-shirts that say Jesus was a community organizer and pontious pilate was a Governor! I am horribly appalled by that! I am not even very religious, but for them to claim Obama is Jesus, I know people have all year, but I have not directly heard a party leader say it! Today Wolf Blitzer said it, but it is my understanding that Donna B said it and the campaign is making t-shirts. Maybe he is Jesus though because I sure would like to nail his ass to the cross and crucify him! I am sick of this absolute insane asylum political party!

  • Obama’s gums look sick

    Obama has been running a bad campaign for a long, long time. He never got beyond his limited demographics of the early primaries and he never started winning the direct vote primaries.

    He still thinks he ran a fine campaign because he stationed jack-boots in the caucuses to high-jack the delegate votes and thugs to scare the shit out of the super-delegates.

    You should have seen his street army in action in Denver – it was a damn scary place to be out on the streets when every square inch was some hack selling Obama crap and shoving it in your face.

    Obama has been guilty of believing his own press releases since all this started and that is when his campaign started heading into the toilet.

    He is flushed. And the sucking sound you hear is Bye Bye ‘Bama

    On the CNN special a couple of weeks ago, highlighting McCain and Oblowme’s bios, Dick Durbin was speaking about getting Barky to run this time.

    He said he told The Thief, “Sometimes you pick the time, but sometimes the time picks you.” And so Barfbag decided to run.

    This was a well-planned coup d’etat by the Dems. I will go to my grave believing that it was pre-planned years ago, with the main objective of eliminating Hillary. They succeeded there, and they almost pulled the GE off, too – the only kink in the chain is, the American public has wised up to his malarkey. Too late for Hillary this time, but pray to God, not too late for 2012.

    Until they purge themselves of the Dean, Brazille, and Axelrod thugs – I will be supporting the GOP. They disenfranchised way too many of their loyalists, thinking they could win without specific groups of voters. What idiots. And now they’ve got their hands tied behind their backs with Sarah. They have no idea of how to attack her. They had their greatest candidate in years with Hillary and they chose “it.” They lied, cheated and broke every rule in the book – so they’ll end up with what they deserve … another lost election. Sometimes principle and character overrides the issues.

    But one LOVELY thing about the Dems – they are totally unforgiving when their candidate loses. In their book, it’s Strike One You’re Out. So thankfully, we won’t ever be terrorized by The Radical One again.

But…no.

    Have you read the news report about Olberman and Matthews in the New York Times? They are being yanked out and Gregory is going to take their place. Management did not like their tantrums at both conventions so they are being replaced. As you mentioned, it’s normal and Sarah fits the same profile.

    I notice that MEchille is the same as Barry…other than Mrs. Louis Farrakhan and other crazed radicals, who did she have in her life? Aside from people they used to get into office, hangers on from the celeb faction or make deals with??? Where are her life long friends?

    We do more to screw up the rest of the worlds economies by using less oil than any US bombs could ever accomplish.

    Cheaper oil undermines Iran. Cheaper oil will sober up Russia as well as the middle east and make Canada (our biggest supplier) more amenable to gas pipelines from Alaska.

    Think about it folks, Bill Maher had this one right: when you drive an SUV you ride with binLaden.

    Drive less and drive slower. Wear a sweater and use a fan instead of the A/C. And stop powering all those stupid little electronic devices you think you can not live without. We can bring the rest of the world to their knees just by living more responsibly.

    You put it out there and it certainly is what I’ve been thinking all along. And Sinclair did not influence this nor Donald Young.

    His living off campus all the way on the east side away from Columbia’s Morningside Heights campus. At first I thought it was because of the huge Islamic Center only 2 blocks away, but I’m told it wasn’t there when he was at Columbia. Recently, it occured to me that it’s possible that there could have been a smaller original incarnation of the center in the same area that shifted to a bigger building after sufficient funds were raised. I’m working that angle now.

    But I sense what you’re saying is a distinct possibility. Back in February on another message board, I read a comment from a poster who never commented again. He said that he had owned a restaurant in Chicago in the late 90s, early 2000s and that many gay men frequented his place. He said it was common knowledge among these people that 0bama was on the ‘downlow.’

    Again, he could just not be a people person. But then why is he a politician? Why didn’t he just stay a lawyer?

    2000 – it was FLORIDA.

    2004 – it was OHIO.

    2008? – looks like it will come down to COLORADO…

    in which case, the Democrats are screwed! Even after their convention in Denver, they could only manage a 1 point lead for Obama in that state. A state which Bush won by 8 points and then almost 5 points again.

    In a year when Democrats could not lose, they allowed the Republicans to paint them again as out-of-touch elitists who cannot relate and cannot understand the working class people. This election will not be lost on anything other than CLASS. People do not trust Obama, and he hasn’t exactly given them a reason to. So even though they agree with him on more policies, they don’t trust him to carry them out or to be able to effect them as he lacks experience and know-how.

    Gotta hand it to the Republicans, they managed to pull a rabbit out of the proverbial political magic hat – by being able to paint Obama as the arrogant, rich, elitist when McCain is the one with the millionairess wife and Bush-supporting record. McCain was also able to steal change and hope from Obama, pushing himself as the maverick and reformist when he’s been in Washington for over 20 years! Incredible mind games. No wonder Democrats lose over and over again. Should have been a cake-walk with Hillary, but now, 4 more years of disastrous policies – just hope McCain is more responsible than Bush and will actually carry out these policies better. That’s gonna be one big mess for Hillary to clean up in 2012!

  • Chicago Joe

    it was pre-planned years ago, with the main objective of eliminating Hillary

    DUH. Yes of course. But it wasn’t to get rid of Hillary – it was to get rid of the Clintons. I seriously suspect they were afraid because Bill got caught with his pecker in Monica’s mouth. I seriously think that. Years ago when I read about the Ken Starr Traveling Roadshow I reckoned ‘oh that prissy GOP’ but now I see it was ALL of them. Howard Dean, Nancy Pelosi, DONNA BRAZILE: they’ve not been laid more than a handful of times in their lives, the most recent time being YEARS AGO – they consider the Clintons to be political scandal. They want to PURIFY the party. I shit you not.

    And if that ain’t sick I dunno what. But yes, the plan’s been there since about February 2004 when Longface came to Chicago to meet with Daley and somehow ran into Barry Soetoro and then asked him to be keynote at the DNC.

    If Howard had wanted to groom Hillary for 2008 – if any of them had been interested in that – why then didn’t they choose Hillary for the 2004 DNC keynote?

    Kerry got to decide who would give the keynote. And ever since shaking hands on a secret deal with Daley in February 2004 the fix was basically in.

    And Ted Kennedy will never cross a Daley – a Daley got his brother to the White House through election rigging.

    And so forth.

    Obama is SO TOAST…

    Tonight, I got a call from an Al Frankin caller. I like Al. I gave him money when he announced he would run against Norm Coleman (R).Minn.
    I learned so much from him,when he was on Air America, in the Valerie Plame debacle when our government betrayed us.
    So…when the courtous Al Frankin caller engaged me this evening, asking for a donation…I said…
    If you will listen to my “speil” I will donate.
    I then engaged her in the dialogue of Hillary & the democratic priciples that were violated and the unfairness of the Democratic primary.
    ( Al Frankin did come out with a tepid endorsement For Obama after Hillary started winning all the big states so I quit helping Frankin)
    So,
    I held the caller for 20 minutes. I asked her repeatedly to give this message to Al. I made her repeat the message.
    I explained all about PUMA and how this has moved beyond Hillary. That it was ANTI- DNC fraud.
    She got more and more into it.
    I made her promise that she would convey my PUMA message of pro Hillary along with a gut level disdain of the process and the procedure.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    So, in closing, We PUMA have the power of the pur$e and of the movement.
    $$$$$$$$$
    When you donate down ticket, make sure you get your message out.Get those phone callers to report back to central. Get our message out bottoms up!
    It amazes me how much time and effort Obama, his campaign, his surrogates at the DailyKos, and his surrogates in the MSM (like Keith Obamamann and Rachel Madcow) are spending smearing and attacking Sarah Palin, while barely mentioning John McCain.
    I’d love to see an analysis of the attack ratio, or one of those “word clouds” showing how much more they are concentrating on Palin.
    It is like a bizarre chess game in which one player’s entire strategy revolves around capturing his opponent’s Queen, while making no effort to capture his King (the object of the game) and leaving his own King wide open to attack.
    They are truly obsessed with her. I don’t know if it is because she is a strong, Christian, conservative, working mother, who puts them to shame, or because they realize they cannot beat McCain unless they force her off the ticket.
    Sorry but nowhere in the story does it back up your claim that all ERs charge for the kit. In fact the main story in North Carolina is that it only covers $1000-$1600 of the kit. They did say the problem exists elsewhere but not nationwide as you suggest.
    Nice try, but the story I linked is about the opposition out of Wasilla(while Palin was mayor) to a law that would require the state to cover the cost of the rape kit. The argument is the cost of $5k to $14k dollars a year is too much for the taxpayers to bear.
    There is a big difference between a problem existing and actively working against the solution.
    obama is a cockroach, so you need to be careful. let’s not count our chickens before they hatch, cause i don’t want that little fascist in the white house. McCain could be up to day and down next week so let’s stay focused.
    We need to make it a law that there is no crossover voting in the primary. There is no reason why republicans should help choose the democratic nominee or vice versa. This year should show that! I have often wished we could have taken out repub votes to see who really won the primary. My guess is that Barky got a huge number of republican votes and Hillary got some, too, but I am sure it did not make as much difference for her as dems for a day did for barky!
    Crossover in the GE fine, to decide a nominee it should not be allowed.
    Jello shots, dancing on tables at bars, dramatic fights with boyfriends who weren’t worth it… you know, general Rielle Hunter behavior.
    The point is, that was the way Manhattan was in the 80s. Barky was here in the City, and apparently no one ever saw him.
    I mean, didn’t he go to Area or Sugar Reef or Downtown Beirut? Elaines? McCanns? Where was he?
    Learn to read before calling someone an idiot. The story is about the opposition in Wasilla to a bill that would make it illegal for law enforcement agencies to charge the victim or their insurance for the kits.
    Again the story isn’t about the fact that this problem exists but that Palin’s town (while she was mayor) was actively working against a solution to the problem.
    terrific candidate, terrific VP candidate, there’s the problem, stark stupidity. They had the terrific candidate and forced her out!
    His sister was there. She and her husband sat behind Michelle and the kids. They look Asian. His sister is not AA. Her husband is Asian.
    They were up on the stage at the end. But 0bama did not relate to her ONCE in any way. Not a hug, a smile, a wink, a nod. She was smiling and beaming at him, but he never looked her way.
    And to me that’s strange. I remember Bill Clinton hugging his mother and brother. Ted Kennedy always acknowledges his nieces and nephews. Yes, it’s a moment for the audience and they can’t linger with family, but they do acknowledge family.
    Didn’t Kerry kiss his daughters and shake hands with his stepsons. I seem to remember familial contact on these occasions. 0bama related only to the crowd and Michelle. And only a little to his daughters.
    I got an email today from a guy running for state rep. I had never even heard of him until about 2 weeks ago. Anyway, his email is all about trashing his opponent. I decided to respond and I hope all PUMAs will do so from now on. I went on about how and why I am a democrat who will vote for John McCain and how Obama is a fraud and unqualified as well, and this is just unaceptable. I explained to him that the PUMA movement will no longer take a candidate on their mere words. There must be some deeds to go along with it. What he was trashing his opponent for was that the Republicans were supposed to suspend campaigning during Gustav and she did not, among other things. So I told him that it would no longer work due to the PUMA movement to just attack your opponent. he would have to contact me and tell me what made him qualified for the job, what he would do for me, my district, my state and country, and since you brought up what your opponent did wrong in your opinion, tell me what you yourself did during Gustav to help, otherwise stop the attack emails. Anyway, i was pretty tough. An aide replied to the email fairly quickly and told me to go to the website for answers. I said I would do that, but to make sure his candidate knew that the voters will no more play these I’m better than the other guy attack games. He had better make himself available to answer questions and prove his qualifications. Please, all Clinton dems. Get tough. Do not accept a non answer. Let us make sure that these candidates can sell themselves and show their resumes instead of riding on showing why the other guy sucks. Ask them what are you going to do and what have you done that deserves my vote! Country before party!
    We long-time Republicans are as surprised as everybody else. We don’t know what to say – “Rove, you magnificent bastard” – yeah, right, we lost Congress in 2006 after Rove said that the base would have “nowhere else to go” – sound familiar? – or – “That Steve Schmidt, he’s dynamite” (guess he is, so hope Doug Kmiec goes on drinking the Obama koolaid) – or what. People are talking Obama’s shreds of Alinsky vs. (attack pilot, not fighter pilot) John McCain’s (fighter pilot) John-Boyd-style OODA loop-breaking. Who knew that Daily Kos & MSNBC both would hurl themselves gleefully off the edge? Who knew that cheerful (if inanimate) balloons would exact fair vengeance on Andrea Mitchell? That was visual champagne. I’ve said that we’ll have a champagne moment before we go our separate ways but I don’t know when it will be. They tried to get Palin to quit so that they don’t have dump Biden (in their complacent assurance that Hillary would take his place). Shoulda gotten that VP thing in writing, Joe, and have another drink. At the VRWC we have a million reasons why Hillary shouldn’t join forces with Obama but you already know all the good ones.
DemoncRATS voted down the energy bill 11 times! The Highway Fund is BROKE! The Demorats want to raid the General Fund which is also broke. Demorats won’t compromise at all. A few trusted Dems like Patty Murray are twarted because her colleages are ridiculous. Get this: (drum roll) not only is the session JUST going to be for three weeks now against the wishes of the Repubs, but Congress spent 5 total weeks in session in the last 5 months. This is less than a part-time job. Small wonder why we are in the position we are in as a nation. Run for Congress and get a fat pay for working a handful of days a year. Enjoy low stress by addressing only piddly bills that are so insignificant there is no vote needed.
    Young PUMAS, get yourself positioned to run for office. It doesn’t take an Ivy League education to do the job. A little common sense is all it takes and you too can live high off the hog and still live the life of Reilly.
  • Hope Floats
    I’m watching Colbert, and he has a female historian on the show talking about how Sarah Palin is only qualified for the vice presidency because she’s a woman. She quickly explained that women can only vote Democratic or else they can’t have abortions or healthcare. Then said the only reason to vote for McCain was because if he died a MILF would be President. And she said Sarah
    Palin has no foreign policy experience. Colbert made some jokes that dismissed her actual experience and said, “But can’t the President just leave some instructions like when you go out and leave a note for the babysitter?”
    Fuck Colbert. Fuck the Dems Fuck these so-called feminist spokeswomen.
  • Steve_in_KC
    You’re probably thinking of Bill Maher. Bill O’Reilly showed a few clips of the comedians having at Palin and family. Maher was the worst, basically pushing the idea that Sarah’s baby is the daughter’s first baby and that she is now “pregnant…again!” as he put it.
    I never really liked him much. I tried watching him a few times as the primary season got under way, but he was vicious to Hillary, and I got hot-faced pissed off one night at his comments about her and have hated him ever since.
    You have to be registered in a party to vote in the primaries. In Florida you can’t vote in the primary if you are not registered as a republican or a democrat. You can only vote for the people running in your party. You can register as “no party” but you can’t vote in the primary.
    In the general election you can vote for anyone you want.
  • IndianaDem
    The election is still 7 weeks off. I don’t think the republicans can keep up a game of distraction for that long. The Palin personality bounce will fade in a week. Then it will be down to Obama and McCain.
    Obama will zero in on the problems of paramount importance to mainstream American voters. He’ll state his proposals for dealing with them with clarity and specificity. What he says will resonate.
    McCain is still trying to convince mainstream voters that he feels their pain. He can’t answer Obama’s specifics with specifics of his own. If McCain gets too specific, he’ll reveal himself to be proposing more of what we’ve already got.
    I expect the inevitable avalanche of attack ads focusing on Ayres, Reverend Wright, and Rezko will create a serious danger of backlash. We’ve heard it all before, again and again. They played those cards too soon. They should have held them until mid-September.
    Nope, I don’t think Obama supporters are quite ready for the panic room yet.
    No open primaries, no caucuses, and no register and vote, no voting without photo-id. It would be great if there were no mail-in vote states,too, but I don’t know how you stop college kids and others from voting in more than one place, officials giving persons the wrong polling address, media giving false information on races in progress, placing rules about who can or cannot hold a primary when they choose to, adding penalties or bonuses for certain demographic locales/states,and the big one, media which gives biased reports for or against one candidate over another. This election cycle we’ll see the worst ever, and the person who said we would be on the honor system this time is hallucinating.
    When you start investigating his past, you keep coming in contact with Pakistanis friends and Muslim roommates in NY and Occidental. Visits to Pakistan, and you don’t run into any women??? Two guys walking a dog on the upper W. side…There is one guy, a Pakistani named Siddiqi, who knew Obama in Occidental and who knew him at Columbia. He is described as a druggie who went with Obama to Pakistan. His roommate in Occidental was a Pakistani (muslim?), Imad Husain. I just have to wonder about his acquaintences. Alot of guys…where are the girls? I have gay guy friends and straight guy friends. Obama’s experiences most parallel the gay friends. One noted he was known for wearing puka bead necklaces and really short shorts. How many of your straight friends are known for that fashion statements in the early eighties? And the upper W side had a lot of gays back then. I am not saying being gay is bad, (I am gay and I know of what I speak) but it is a real problem if he is a closeted gay man trying to be President who has a thing for Pakistani Muslim men. Talk about a ticking bomb! This, to me accounts for his personality problems. His attempts to fit in. TO deny so much of himself. Both the white part and the “gay” part. His hope and change. His McGlurkin tour, the gay guy who changed. The refusal to be photographed with Gavin Newsome. Maybe Obama is hoping he has changed too.
    Exactly RRRAmy –
    Obama was saying today that he had never waivered from his anti-war stance. ????????
    There are 4 comments printed in newspapers at the time of his keynote address which quote him saying that he doesn’t differ from Bush’s stance at this point. (Words to that effect)
    Obama was asked at Saddleback to cite an example of a time when he had crossed party lines to get something accomplished. When I watched him cite his example of crossing over as the time when he had committed to John McCain that he WANTED to work on bi-partisan lobbying and ethics reform legislation and then he cowardly backed out of his committment and lamely tried to blame it on John McCain…OMG everyone in the Senate at that time KNEW Obama was lying…EVERYONE and John McCain proceeded to RIP HIM A NEW ONE. But when Obama cited that particular example – I was literally SCREAMING at the TV. Just watching him sit there and cite that example knowing that HE KNEW he was lying – I will NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS forget it.
    It doesn’t even faze him either – that’s what’s so frightening…HE TRULY SCARES THE CRAP OUT OF ME. He thinks if he can get himself and others to believe what he is saying then it BECOMES the truth.
    I’ve only known ONE other person in my life who is like this and she actually said this verbatim:
    “First I tell myself the lie over and over until I get myself to believe it – lying is just as good as the truth if you can get yourself and the other person to believe it.”
    Right they go to the polls and vote for who’d they like to have a beer with.
    I would respond with voters don’t go to the poll on election day with the question of who someone’s pastor was or who they bought their house from on the list of issues that are really important.
    However, I’d say her stance on women’s rights, abortion, climate change, earmarks, separation of church and state and the like will provide good policy background for the person you want to be VP. Just think of it as the vetting McCain and all of you refuse to do.
    Besides, I’m just posting my concerns with her. Like I have done over a number of days on topics like the church she attends, her earmark problem, her stance on climate change; as well as issues I have with McCain like his temper, his voting record, his lack of recent legislative work, etc. No one issue is meant to persuade you. Just like I don’t think this article alone will change anyone’s mind, but if you guys ARE going to vote for her and McCain I want to let you know what you are getting into.
    If McCain and Palin turn out to be just like Bush or worse, you won’t have the excuse of “well I didn’t know they were going to be like that”. Fool us once shame on them, fool us three times shame on us.
    I have to make my intro posts incendiary or they will be ignored. I also admit that while I refuse to name call, I do respond in ways that question the posters intelligence if they were rude in their response to me. I just hope that these articles will give someone enough pause to question if this petty vendetta against Obama for his perceived treatment of Hillary is worth risking four more years of policies which have been terrible for this country in pretty much every respect.
    Well, in fairness to the Police Chief there, he does say that ‘in the past, they billed INSURANCE companies’ to cover the cost. Nothing was said about charging a victim if she did not have insurance. I doubt that that ever happened, but if you can turn up someone who that happened to you’ll have something. Although, I don’t know that even then you could pin the blame on Sarah Palin, but I’m sure you’ll try.
    In response to your comment. There is nothing wrong with the rapist paying for the test if they had actually tried to admit legislation to do so. In addition to the STD and pregnancy portion of the kit the other major part of the kit is analysis to identify the rapist. If the city were to cover the test and then fine the rapist as part of his sentence ok, but it is no reason to oppose legislation to that would ease the burden on the victim.
    Sweetie, do they require US Government or Social Studies classes in high school anymore? I am dumbfounded by the power that you ascribe to the VP, I think even Dick Cheney would be dumbfounded.
    For the record, if Roe v. Wade was overturned tomorrow, the lay of the land would look pretty much like it does right now. Some states would have relatively easy access to abortion with few restrictions, in some abortions would be almost impossible to get except in instances of rape, or the mother’s life being threatened, the rest would fall somewhere on that continuum. This is exactly how it is RIGHT NOW. If Roe is overturned the question and the fight returns to the states, overturning Roe does not outlaw abortion in the U.S. only a CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT can do that.
    For 6 of the last 8 years the hated Republicans held all THREE branches of government. Yet, still NO CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT was introduced – or even mentioned. Why? Because it would destroy the Repubs electoral chances permanently. They know it and the Democrats know it.
    Roe is Kabuki theater, a pantomime by the Reps and the Dems used to beat their respective bases into submission every 2 years. Anything that is that useful to our two ‘wonderful’ political parties will never go away…they’ll both make sure of it.
    Read the post above as to why I pin the blame on Palin. Anyways the exact quote from the police chief was,
    In the past we’ve charged the cost of exams to the victims insurance company when possible.
    Now follow me here. They city charges for the kits and doesn’t cover any of it due to “further burden on the taxpayers”. They charge the victim’s insurance “when possible”. If it had never happened he could just say “we charge the victim’s insurance”. By saying he does it when possible means that likely there are cases where the victim didn’t have insurance or it wasn’t covered and they had to pay out of pocket.
    I agree with the conclusion of your post. Republicans won’t introduce an amendment because they require the issue to get into office. That is until someone comes into office that doesn’t get the message from Rove.
    I think McCain’s independent streak and run to the right in recent years on abortion rights coupled with the fact that Palin actually holds these beliefs is the sort of combination that could get Roe v Wade overturned. McCain makes one maybe two appointees to the supreme court. Under pressure Roberts agrees to hear an abortion case and the ruling overreaches the scope of the case. It isn’t smart to just assume that everyone will go along with the plan to keep their party in power.
    When choice becomes a state issue, immediately a quarter to half the states will outlaw it. The rest of the states will be forced to vote in every election on the issue thanks to funds from in-state and out-of-state anit-choice groups.
    Maybe my original wording was bad, I meant that if Palin had her way choice would be a thing of the past. Not saying that it would happen but there is the possibility. McCain is old and suggesting that there is no chance Palin may be required to take over is short-sighted.
    They don’t need legislation to submit a restitution request at sentencing. Why should they jump through a hoop to do what is already legal?
    That is a waste of taxpayer’s time and money when they can immediately and legally have a court order demanding payment. Courts charging the guilty for the court’s time or entry into their programs such a anger management classes is a standard procedure even in the lower 48.
  • VRWC – Mysteries Dept.
    I guess I deserve that. Imagine if there really were an all-connected VRWC and I could just reach out and do something about the tee shirts. “VRWC” is a fairly common pseudonym. I use it only here. I chose it because I dislike sailing under a false flag, and so didn’t want to leave it open to question whether I’ve been either undecided or pro-HRC in the past. (Also, here in NYC, people keep refusing to believe that I’m not a liberal Democrat, so I’m used to describing myself as a “right-wing death beast” or whatever.) But “VRWC” is still a bit false in the sense that I’m not actually part of any political organization.
    I’m one of those Republicans who have developed a “grudging respect” for Hillary. I’ve actually tried and in some cases succeeded in getting some Republicans to discuss Hillary differently. For my part, I’ve sworn off the old habits (even if I’m not over some of the old issues). Even before Palin I’d begun to get it that the “nutcracker” stuff and all that was wrong. I can’t pinpoint the moment for sure, but I think it was when Obama said “you’re likable enough.” I like that picture of her in the rain at the previous HillBuzz site. Many of us had long thought that she was angling for a no-sweat, no-tears coronation but, when it came down to it, she fought, fought, fought, and kept breaking the molds of received wisdom that the MSM kept trying to press onto her. Darned if both Clintons aren’t often the first to smell the coffee while the MSM clings bitterly to its cliches. I didn’t expect them to be undone by ugly machine politics – Obama’s cloud talk threw everybody for a loop, let’s hope it doesn’t happen twice, or shame on us all.
    Back in the year 2000 I was much impressed by John McCain myself. I was really PO’d when Bush allied himself with J. Thomas Burch and attacked John’s war record. (I suspect the smear campaign focusing on McCain’s adopted daughter and Cindy’s drug issue probably originated with Bush operatives as well, but nobody has ever been able to prove it.) I’d have been happy to have seen McCain on the Kerry ticket after that. Together they might have been more than a match for Bush.
    Alas, it seems as if 2008 has brought us a somewhat different John McCain. I liked the 2000 version a lot better.
    I think they’re both wrong.
    This whole decade has had a net decrease in temp , both air and water.
    Yet the CO2 has gone up. The theory on its face fails.
    But that’s not all, studies have shown that in past warmings, the CO2 increase was a response to air temp increase, not its cause.
    Also, the Sunspot cycle is about a year late now. There are practically no sunspots, August was the first month that there were less than 1 in a very long time.
    Most objective climatologists are stating this can be the beginning of a harsh cold period similar to the mini-ice age
    The people clamoring about this Global Warming all seem more interested in taxing people to death or controlling everything that we do.
    I reject it. i’m free in this country and this government needs to get off my back and get out of my way.
    matchles –
    Is “the article” the only reference point you are going to consider? “The Article” is not the Ten Commandments come down from the mountain in the hands of your Moses.
    These commenters who have already responded to you actually work in the field as they have told you. One works in the ER. They have told you that, in most cases around the country, because of LACK OF FUNDING, these claims are NORMALLY paid by insurance companies first.
    They have also explained that if the victim has no insurance company, there is usually a crime victim fund to cover this so that the victim doesn’t have to cover it out of her pocket.
    Now, common sense tells one that the primary reason a really small town, like Wasilla, would oppose this would be lack of money.
    Are YOU willing to mail a check to the town of Wasilla for $5,000.00 or more? No? Well – does this mean then that YOU WANT rape victims to pay for test kit after being raped? No. I don’t believe you wish this and it would be wrong of me to make or infer that accusation.
    However, you are doing just that in your comments. You are inferring that Palin opposed this because she is either an insensitive heartless beast or she has an evil desire for RAPE victims to suffer financially after already suffering a horrible tragedy.
    Palin has 3 DAUGHTERS, matchles. 3 beloved daughters, plus herself,her mother and her sisters. If any governmental official would have a sensitivity to this primarily female crime, it would be Sarah Palin.
    The bottom lines is – you don’t know the reason and common sense basiclly tells you the reason would be lack of funding.
    Stop assigning a malicious intent to everything about Sarah Palin just because you are now SCARED Xhitless that she has the power to help the Republicans win. She does. Regardless, that power does not give you the right to desecrate facts and truth nor does it make Sarah Palin the Wicked Witch of the West – it just makes you DESPERATE.
    Comment by csuzeq
    I got an email today from a guy running for state rep. I had never even heard of him until about 2 weeks ago. Anyway, his email is all about trashing his opponent. I decided to respond and I hope all PUMAs will do so from now on. I went on about how and why I am a democrat who will vote for John McCain and how Obama is a fraud and unqualified as well, and this is just unaceptable. I explained to him that the PUMA movement will no longer take a candidate on their mere words. There must be some deeds to go along with it. What he was trashing his opponent for was that the Republicans were supposed to suspend campaigning during Gustav and she did not, among other things. So I told him that it would no longer work due to the PUMA movement to just attack your opponent. he would have to contact me and tell me what made him qualified for the job, what he would do for me, my district, my state and country, and since you brought up what your opponent did wrong in your opinion, tell me what you yourself did during Gustav to help, otherwise stop the attack emails. Anyway, i was pretty tough. An aide replied to the email fairly quickly and told me to go to the website for answers. I said I would do that, but to make sure his candidate knew that the voters will no more play these I’m better than the other guy attack games. He had better make himself available to answer questions and prove his qualifications. Please, all Clinton dems. Get tough. Do not accept a non answer. Let us make sure that these candidates can sell themselves and show their resumes instead of riding on showing why the other guy sucks. Ask them what are you going to do and what have you done that deserves my vote! Country before party!
    This was a great post and yes we need to remember Puma needs to support only the ones who have a record and a life experience of doing for the poeple, we need not support anyone , because they said so, and because hes a democrat. The Dnc must be taught a lesson that we are listening and we are not going to let the fraud the elite, sexism, racism and the demeaning of a qualified candidate that belonged to our party.
    The real unity belongs to the Puma supporters along with many other groups that saw what was occurring and banned together it is time for all the news networks to clean house , as we need to do cleaning out the DNC of those non doers, do for me and I will do for you, the ones too afraid to support Hill as the best qualified candidate to follow the party instead of following their best judgement , if money can sway a vote then that needs to be cleaned out, bought and Paid for , is not the principles of the democratic party.
    Puma , One voice one vote, Nobama, I own my vote, and willnot be a silent vote for O, a handwritten vote for Hill, a fall in vote for party unity, a third party vote, , I will not help elect O to office, a vote is a vote for the best qualified person who has character , integrity, and a record of doing for the people,not a voice of change and hope. McCain Palin 2008.
    “I wouldn’t do that,” Obama said. “I mean, I’m not perfect –”
    “Yes, you are!” shouted a woman in the crowd.
    “No, no, no, no,” Obama said. “Talk to Michelle, she’ll tell you. But what I’m not going to do, I’m not going to describe in an ad that I did something that is opposite of what I did.”
    .
    Priceless.
  • Obama’s gums look sick
    This scenario assumes there are people who still believe Obama. He can’t keep changing his positions again because that only makes him look increasingly desparate to win.
    Obama is now embarassing when he claims he is for “change you can believe in” when the fact is McCain stands for real change, right now and we have proof of it.
  • Obama’s gums look sick
    Remember Obama has money to burn and soon McCain’s hands will be tied by his honored commitment to public campaign financing.
    Money is buying support for Obama in FLA and it bought that string of red state primary victories Clinton did not contest because of their uselessness.
    Obama by exploiting them created his aura that sold out the DNC. So money shrewdly used by Obama has had negative effect. And McCain is now in the money disadvantage and will be increasingly so the closer it gets to Election Day.
    What an awful statement Obama makes for America.
    Obama will defeat Obama. We are just giving him enough string to string himself out before he hoists his own petard to defeat in November.
    Obama peaked early in the primary season. There was so much smoke and mirrors coming from his goon squad a lot of people failed to notice this.
  • Obama’s gums look sick
    What is not right is the Obama crowd never figured out you could “win” a nomination and in the very process absolutely lose the election. They forget this is a two-party country.
    And worse, they single-handedly turned it into a three party race: (1) McCain – (2) Clintons for McCain and (3)Obamanics.
    They need to meditate on this a bit.
    VR, (we’re informal here…)
    How big is an Internet Tent anyway?
    I have been looking into Barry online well before I came to this blog and doing what I was able to express my concerns very early on. When Obama beat Keyes, an idiotic choice but the only one available to the Rep’s I guess, I wondered what was up with all the hype.
    When he and his handlers so intentionally railroaded Hillary out of the process, I had been sure he was crooked for what seems now to be a long time.
    As the great research of the old guard here has shown, this man is a nut case who is literally trying to steal our country from us.
    My voting record for president over the past 30 tears has been as wide open as anyone. I get accused of being a Republican here, but I’ve always gone with the guy I thought I could trust more no matter his party. This has allowed me to vote for the most Liberal president I can recall, Ol’ Peanut, clear over to Ross Perot. (he had cool ideas about using the internet to control our congressmen. Bet you wish we could do that now, huh?)
    My rambling point is that we now know that it takes all kinds to make a strong nation. Maybe before Obama stole the party right out from under more than 18 million voters, it wasn’t so clear. But now we know we will put Country First, get rid of this rot which has tried to steal the democratic process from us all, and make concrete changes in the way we do things… starting with this
    regards
She begged them to look at the last 8 years and all the problems, yadayadayada… She said the next two or three weeks wouldn’t be a test for Sarah Palin but for Barack Obama. Then she said he has to get angry because anger is appropriate and he has to “grab his campaign by the throat” and go back to where he was before with the American people. What a card she is!     Why didn’t Obama wait?
    That is the big question. And I am not sure the Astute Blogger got to the heart of the , matter. I am not sure anyone knows the answer to that. YET. Maybe it will come out some day.
    Astute Blogger say that “(Ayers, Axelrod, The Chicago Machine, Teddy Kennedy et al)” Except for Kennedy, and maybe Axlerod, I am not sure these are the folks. I think the Chicago folks got involved at a later date for other reasons.
    I think it started with Dean. I don’t know why he hates the Clintons so much, but he does. When Dean was defeated by Kerry in the 2004 primary Dean went to work for the Obama for Senate campaign as some sort of advisor. Then all of a sudden this totally unknown, undistinguished Chicago guy with no national experience gets the coveted key note speaker job at Kerry’s convention. WHY? There is something that happened there. I think the genesis is there with Dean. I think then that Kennedy (from MA like Kerry) and Axlerod as simply as chairman of the Obama campaign, also got involved and that behind the scenes they began pushing Obama on all the ‘right’ folks. (And remember that Axlerod was also manager for Deval (sp?) the governor of MA)And then began the ‘fix’ for Obama to become President. It started with Dean and the MA Dems.
    And then when Dean became Chairman of the DNC they began putting the wheels in motion to defeat the Clintons. Questions I have about Dean is who pushed him for Chairman? Kennedy? Kerry? How did that occur? Once Dean got that position though he set about getting Obama nominated with his 50 state strategy and that group he has to train folks to work on campaigns and I forget the name of that group.
    Again though the big question is why. Was it just to defeat the Clintons? Or was something else at stake?
    One of the best surgeons I’ve ever known did Tricare surgeries and has the same first name as a notorious terrorist. He is a blessed individual who has saved many lives and made the experiences of many people better.
    He’s Muslim.
    Didn’t miss MSNBC at all, but I still am having a tough time with CNN. I still keep finding myself going there because that’s where I’ve gone for years for the news. Usually doesn’t take long though before they’ll anger me by saying something about Hillary if she’s in the news, or something about Palin. Today I heard one of them talking with Campbell Brown say that Black Liberation Theology is a recognized Christian religion. That speaking in tongues is not. this needs to come out in the media. I almost barfed, and had to change the channel. I thought must be nice to live in Never, Neverland. You sure don’t live in any resemblence of the reality that I see.
  • Patrick
    Stacy, you and I are of the same ilk.
    I, too, wish for both parties to moderate. Theirs and ours.
    Think about it. If McCain and Clinton were running against each other, the furthest far-afield issues we’d be talking about would be Hilliary’s Health Care and McCain’s drilling plans. NEITHER of which, when taking singularly are OUTRAGEOUS. The election would probably hinge on overall sentiment between those two things and the war.
    That would be an honorable election. This thing, with us fighting to keep socialism out of the White House, is down right scary.
    Take care,
    Patrick
    All that does is feed the conspiracy people, that Obama is the Anti-Christ. There are still more than 80% in this country that believe in a God, all they do with that is cause more damage.
    Remember a few months ago when someone posted a link claiming Obama was the Anti-Christ? The link didn’t work so I went to search google. When I first did a google search on it, there were three links. That’s it. Go today and do a google search. There are pages and pages of links.
    If they think for one second comparing him to Christ is going to bring Christians on board, they’re wrong. Just another one of the things his supporters and himself(with the parting of the seas and a light will shine down from heaven) have done to drive away anyone on the fence considering voting for him. I say go for it.
  • http://home.comcast.net/~vincep312 Vince P
    The Bible says the Antichrist comes from the remnants of the Macedonian Empire (aka Greek Empire aka Alexander Great’s Empire) , from the Seleucid successor state. That is roughly today’s Northwestern Iraq, Turkey, Northern Syria area.
    He will be Muslim.
    America has no discernible role to play in prophecy.
  • Joe Biden’s hair plugs speak out!
    Voters decide on whom they TRUST.
    In the words of Bill Clinton, Candidate X or CAndidate Y…
    You’re wasting all your time attacking the number two slot. Shouldn’t you be defending your shitty candidate against the top of the Republican ticket?
    Palin’s not running for President. Do you know what the traditional role of Veeps has been – Attending funerals of foreign dignitaries, and photo ops. Cheney is very much an anomaly. McCain is not going to keel over two weeks after taking the oath. His mother is 95 years old and in great shape. I saw a clip of him walking out of a restaurant, if you pixelated his head you’d think it was a 42 year old man. There is nothing in his demeanor or his gait that signifies old and played out. And he has a younger wife to keep him fresh.
    Also you need to step away from the KoolAid punch bowl if you think there was “perceived” mistreatment of Hillary.
    There’s a lot more to the world out there than Obot Boot Camp and Talking POints of the Day.
    Here’s one thing that the besotted Obamabots will learn: Those “white trash” Americans ALWAYS vote.
    Because they HONOR their country and they were raised by their “white trash” parents to know that voting is a sacred obligation.
    On November 4th, the elitist Obamabot youth who’ve never had to work two jobs to keep food on the table may roll over in bed or get into a conversation with a hot new love interest and forget all about voting.
    But those “white trash” people will show up and vote.
    You are absolutely right, Susan. Why do they think that Clinton and Carter have been the only Democratic presidents in 40 years? Because both Carter and Clinton were one of us—the average, hardworking, country-loving American. Obama had the chance to present himself that way, but he screwed up with his “bitter” remarks to those elite (and all-white) snobs in San Francisco.
    Palin hit the nail on the head when she said, “We don’t talk about you one way in Scranton and say something different in San Francisco.” McCain/Palin could parlay that one soundbite into the single-most effective ad campaign in history.
  • hootnannie
    The name-calling and personal attacks now being employed by the BO camp are signs of utter desperation. Why would any campaign insult legions of potential voters? They sense the end is near and are just desperately spitting and clawing at those doing them in. I checked out Olbermann and Matthews last night for a few minutes just to see what the atmosphere is like after the demotions. Chris and his people seemed subdued and spoke of actual problems with the electoral prospects for their messiah. Keith, along with Maddow, was making fun of Pentecostals. Panic room and padded room!
    You got it mimi – don’t give a flying…is right! That’s why I’m voting for McCain/Palin anyway – it’s to teach the Dems a lesson.
  • Jackie
    Last I looked these nut jobs do not speak for my and my ovaries!
    Sarah Palin is far more qualified than Obama for the office of VP.
    Oh that’s right, he is running for POTUS.
    Dude this is an issue!
    What did Obama and Ayers do with 110 million dollars? Independent review stated that the Annenberg Challenge failed to meet all of its stated goals.
    Why is Obama the only Editor in Chief of the Harvard Law Review not to publish an article in the Review while editor?
    Why is it that the year that Obama was president of the Harvard law Review is the least sited year of the Harvard Law Review in its history?
    DID you know that Obama voted with John McCain 87% of the time? Guess he was looking to someone that can be a leader.
    Most notable differences in voting:
    ~Obama & Biden voted for the Bridge to Nowhere
    ~Obama voted for the Bush Oil Bill–you remember the one crafted in the back rooms by Cheney and his oil cronies.
    ~nearly a billion dollars in ear marks including 1 million for his wife’s employer and 8 million for General Dynamics whose board member James Crowne is one of Obama’s biggest fundraisers and sits on his fund raising committee.
    ~Voted cross party lines 18% of he time
    ~uses soldiers as a photo op back drop
    McCain:
    ~Never has asked for an earmark
    ~Voted against the bridge to no where
    ~Stood up against the Bush Oil Bill because of the tax breaks for big oil
    ~has written and supported ethics reform laws
    ~Voted cross party lines 87% of the time
    ~keeps faith with the soldiers
    From 1980 thru 2005 there 0.4 reports of rape per year (a total of 10 reported rapes in 25 years) in Wasilla, Alaska. I’m sure that Obama operatives have already invaded the privacy of these ten rape victims and could not find any who were charged for a rape kit or they would have been paraded in front of MSNBC viewers by now.
    You are grasping at straws out of desperation.
    http://www.disastercenter.com/alaska/crime/35.htm
    Just remember with Palin at the helm not only will you be paying for the tests to confirm you were raped, you also won’t be able to have an abortion if you get pregnant from said rape.
    You really should study up on the branches of government, legislative, judicial, and executive. These fear tactics have been over used lately, they have lost there effectiveness.
  • PJ
    I like your comment but please don’t lump the Clintons in with Carter.
  • Brian_C82
    I think Obama is in way over his head. He’s too far out of touch with regular white and working class Americans to craft a winning electoral strategy. The youth vote has always been a mirage, and increased black voter participation is usually counteracted by increased white turnout. If you want to win the presidency, you have to win the votes of those bitter white people who come to the polls in droves. There is no way around it.
    Obama foolishly believes that Americans long for a return to the Great Society programs of the 1960′s, which couldn’t be further from the truth. America is still a conservative leaning country. This is still essentially the same country that voted for Bush in 2000 and 2004. The idea that a radical shift has occured and everyone is ready to vote for “change” is simply ludicrous. The Obamabots are in for a rude awakening.
  • Jackie
    When Fox seems to be the “least Biased” we have entered into the twilight zone for sure.
    I hate bill O’Reilly and Hannity and Colmes, and don’t get me stated on Neil Cavuto.
    Why do you Obama supporters have a probelm understanding the right to vote is more important than supporting a lying candidate with a ‘D’ after his name?
    I don’t believe Obama on ANY topic he speaks about because he changes them depending upon the audience. His record shows what a political coward he is. While you don’t care who helped buy his house. To me it is a glaring example of how weak he is as a man and a candidate. He couldn’t even buy his own children a house without the money men. But you expect him to work for you!? LOL
    Finally, what would be the benefit of voting for a man who has already subverted my vote TWICE this election?
    While stealing MI and FL votes….he lessen the impact my vote had in the primary.
    When he manipulated the roll call….he flat out stole my vote at the convention since CA went for Hillary.
    No thanks…keep the bum!
    I’ll keep my vote valid this time and give it to McCain.
    Even without the voter fraud. I wouldn’t subject this man on any other community. His district in Chicago is a disgusting example of his version of change.
  • misstickly
    That’s his schtick. He never breaks character, he always argues the WRONG SIDE of politics.
  • mimi
    You know, we all joke about him being a Manchurian Candidate, but if you’re familiar with that movie (the original), that character didn’t have any friends either, had a love/hate relationship with his mother and no father, only a step-father whom he could not stand.
    Just sayin….
    No Obama is confused and on the attack against Palin. I haven’t heard anything from Biden attacking Palin.
    Even the articles with important business leaders represent Obama’s target.
    http://businessandmedia.org/articles/2008/20080908171808.aspx
    “The Rogers Holdings CEO had little confidence that Democratic presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama, Ill., or Republican vice-presidential nominee, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, would be able to do anything to steer Fannie or Freddie on a more stable path.”
  • IndianaDem
    America may be conservative-leaning, but far-right Christian republicans aren’t my idea of “conservative”. My brand of conservativism is based on the Constitution, not the bible. My brand of conservativism suggests Christian fundamentalists are free to practice their religion, not impose their own biblical interpretations on the rest of us.
    I haven’t seen a republican fiscal conservative since the 1950s. True fiscal conservativism is based on a few simple, self-evident rules, founded in common sense. One of the most basic is that you can’t spend more than you bring in.
    I approve of Obama’s reassertion of basic democratic social values. What a lot of people don’t seem to recognize is that fiscal common sense is part of the same message. Obama points out that if we want public works and social programs for the betterment of the nation and for the common good, we’ve got to pay for them. He suggests that those who have benefitted the most from our economic system should be willing to bear a larger portion of that cost.
    This is not radical thinking. This is straight talk, simple justice, and economic common sense. In a society where the richest 10% own over 71% of the total wealth of the nation while the poorest 60% own less than 4%, the richest can afford to pay more, and have a moral obligation to do so. Their wealth, after all, results from the creative efforts of all of those below them; their continued prosperity depends upon the continued productivity of those below them.
    People are more productive when their hard work provides them with increased security and new opportuities. That’s a republican line, right? The difference seems to be that when the republicans say it, they’re always talking about the upper end of the economic spectrum. Their thinking seems to be that wealth is created at the top and spills down to the rest of us. That’s a fallacy, and one of the reasons for the economic ills besetting our nation. The people who produce the wealth are no longer reaping a fair portion of the rewards. If giving more wealth to the already-wealthy was the road to a healthy economy, our economy would be very healthy indeed.
  • Kim
    Lou is back on CNN. He started back last night.
  • Thinker
    SO, WHY DID HE IGNORE HIS OWN OPINION AND RUSH INTO IT LAST YEAR??
    Because his collective (Ayers, Axelrod, The Chicago Machine, Teddy Kennedy et al) decided this was the year
    - Obama is such a puppet.
    And a big fat LOL @ his supporters who really thought he would win the White House.
    LOL again.
    Nope.
    No way, now how, no Obama. Biden? LMAO
    Hillary 2012 :)
  • Newly Independent
    Fuck Colbert. Fuck the Dems Fuck these so-called feminist spokeswomen.
    Really!!
    Pardon me for saying it like this, but where were the majority of these fake “feminist” bitches when Hillary was being raked over the coals by half of the Democrat party & the MSM during the primary this year?
    Only a FEW feminists came to Hillary’s defense.
    Now – like roaches from under the woodwork – here they come en masse to attack Sarah Palin. Getting their digs in on her just like the sexist dogs in the media and the Dem party.
    Not once do these Obama followers take a good hard look in the mirror.
    Not once do these Obama followers consider that — through thuggery and vicious attacks — they beat down the very best, most qualified, most knowledgeable, and most experienced candidate AND every one of us, her still-devoted supporters.
    They just don’t get it.
    They’re too damned arrogant, self-centered and narrow-minded to get it.
  • DancingOpossum
    I wonder if we could do a “stages of grief” intervention for the OFB like they sneeringly kept saying we needed. Or should we just tell them to “get over it”?
  • Newly Independent
    THIS must be repeated!
    I mentioned the same thing earlier on another post. It is highly suspicious that not only does he not have people available from his past, but that no one in the media has gone looking.
    Gov Palin has been on the scene such a short time and I have seen friends, family, co workers, constituents, and schoolmates of hers.
    In contrast..
