South Carolina on My Mind

A fresh, new face in South Carolina, Nikki Haley, debuted tonight as the leading Republican candidate for Governor. She survived a vicious smear campaign by hacks aligned with the political establishment. Rather than read a long explanation of the smear watch Jon Stewart (note, he will talk about Limbaugh and crazy Helen Thomas before he gets to Nikki, but it is worth the wait):

Looks like the other big winner is Sara Palin. Why?

Looks like everyone she endorsed won, at least tonight. Not bad.

Meanwhile, back to Larry Marchant. Leave it to Jon Stewart to coing a new term for “gaydar,” — FLAMINGLY SOUTHERN, What is it about closeted Republican conservatives, who gay bash while secretly carrying on gay romances? You ladies tell me. Does Marchant strike you as the kind of guy you would want to jump in the sack with for a steamy tryst? The dude insists that he’s a flaming heterosexual. What do you think? I think it is funny as hell.

Oblahblah supports you and you stink up the joint

Dems running in the fall shall be avoiding his support like the plague.

I’m totall, thoroughly thrilled with the election results. Women with independent thoughts and opinions are finally breaking free of the constraints set by the Democratic Stepford Wives Club. Best of luck to Nikki Haley, Sharon Angle, and Michelle Bachman. Hurray to Jan Brewer. And Kudos to Meg Whitman and Carly Fiorina. Carly you were a great CEO no matter with all the distorted information they say about you and what you did for HP. And Hail to Sarah the Queen Maker. Maureed Dowd–you bubble head–, the entire establishment of National NOW & NARAL, all you Demoractic Stepford Wives, go back under your burquas and suck it. You don’t speak for us no more.

  • felizarte

I have heard some pundits on TV wonder why Cal. GOP’s voted for Carly when Campbell ran better against Boxer.  Speaking for myself only, being an ex-democrar thoroughly disappointed with Boxer, even if Campbel is a viable alternative, I want to replace Boxer with an exceptionally competent woman like Fiorina.  In California, this matters.  I do not want to decrease the number of women in the Senate.

  • EllenD

Aaaaaagggghhhhhh!!!! Props 16 & 17 passed!!! I’m SO SICK of money buying elections!!!!

  • Annie/Carmel

I was surprised to see that Campbell was supported by a lot of the anti-illegal organizations…although that was not featured in any ads.  Nevertheless, I didn’t think he ran much of a campaign and whomever goes against the CA Dem jugernaut needs to be cooking on all burners.  Meg didn’t go completely anti-illegal either but did say she would not support amnesty or sanctuary cities.  I voted for both.

I’m sick of the good old boys in the Republican party trying to ignore and/or marginalize Sarah.  Get on board boys or get out of the way,

  • Annie/Carmel

I’d love to see Sarah, Michelle Bachman, Jan, Carley, Meg, Sharon and all the other Repubican women in a photo together.

May be true – but just watch 0blahblah and company take credit for Blanche Lincoln’s victory!  But we all know if anyone made the difference for Blanche, it wa Bill Clinton!  At first I did not care whether Blanche won or not since she had been a vote that 0bama could count on even tho she put up a fuss about the public option.  The only thing I and others remember is that she voted for his hc.

But, after hearing that MoveOn.org and SEIU were saturating her opponent’s campaign with money and time into Blanche’s opponent’s race, I knew my choice was clear.  I don’t know many things I despise as much as those two sinister organizations that will stop at nothing to win.  They showed that in the 2008 primary when they organized the caucuses online for 0bama, instructing their members to go in and take over the caucuses.  They did as instructed and were the primary culprits that pulled off the caucus fraud that was the only factor in Hillary’s not winning.  They bragged in 2008, “We now own the democratic party.”

Bill Clinton did a great job working against them on behalf of Blanche.  He had good reason to want to beat their heads off.   But, I’m sure Clinton is saving his biggest guns against them for a later day.  Until then, I’m happy he made some headway showing these young white mostly male thugs their days may be numbered.

This was from an article on MSNBC.com announcing Sharron Angle’s win in New Mexico…

“The Associated Press projected Sharron Angle<img style=”border: 0pt none; margin: 0pt; padding: 0pt; display: inline ! important; height: 10px; width: 10px; position: relative; top: 1px; left: 1px; float: none;” src=”http://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/2_bing.gif”/> as the winner of the Republican Senate primary in Nevada late Tuesday. Angle bested former state Sen. Sue Lowden and Danny Tarkanian, the son of a famed local basketball coach.
Angle’s recent surge delighted many Democrats, who believe she would be the least effective challenger to Reid.”

Are the Dems and msnbc that naive to think they are going to have an easy time in the fall?

  • FranSC

As a former liberal dem feminist until 2008, I have to say, it is great to see these very impressive republican women winning today while democratic women look down their noses at pro-life women.  Hopefully they are getting the message that being ‘feminist’ is not just about supporting abortion.  I will be proudly voting for Nikki Haley if there is a runoff and in the ge.

  • FranSC

….and, BTW, it will serve the dem women right for the first woman POTUS to be a pro-life republican.  They have been strident in their insistence that feminists MUST be pro-choice.  So happy to see these women moving ahead inspite of them.   This is the reason women can’t vote as a block.  This issue divides women 52% X 48% with pro-life being the majority today.

I worked hard to get abortion rights for women.  I never expected it to be the divide among women 30 years later, after these rights became law and protected by the Constitution.  I will never give another dime to NARAL or any other organization that keeps the abortion rights debate front and center of women’s issues.   NARAL’s endorsement of 0bama in the primary over Hillary who had always supported them was unimaginable and unforgiveable.

  • Onofre’s arm

I was hoping Lincoln would win, she’ll be easier to beat in the general, because Dem incumbents, especially Obama supported incumbents, are dead meat in November.

  • Cindy

Annie——I agree with your comments. These are exciting days for women in politics.
The conservatives and Republicans are always and have been demonized by Democratic women (because those women have been brainwashed by Democratic men), but it was and has been, always, the Republicans and conservatives who’ve led the way, historically, for women’s rights.

  • Cindy

FranSC—–you’re so right! see my comment to Annie, below.

  • FranSC

Yes!  They are *that* naive!  Perhaps ‘in denial’ might be a better description.  Whichever it is, they long ago let go of reality.  I continue to believe they are unreachable still.

  • No Longer Banned in Beantown

Looks like everyone she endorsed won, at least tonight. Not bad.

Looking at the results that was the first thought that popped into my head. Except that Palin endrsed Doug Hoffman in NV, not Sharon Angle.

But compared to Obamas endorsements, Palin kicks ass.

I was behind Tom Campbell, and donated a few scarce dollars to the cause. But now I am behind Fiorina full tilt. I have not seen Campbells concession, but I hpoe he gives a ringing endorsement to Fiorina, and campigns for her. Campbell can bring moderate Independents  and even crossover Dems to Carly, which sh will need.

Carly trails Boxer big, but she trailed Campbell big before her huge push with advertising. Campbell would have beat Boxer easily. While I would like a more conservative candidate, don’t forget it is CA. Hard core conservatives have a tough nut to crack in a statewide election there.  Moderates need to warm up to Carly for her to win.

Whitman was never in doubt in CA.

Most important – beat Boxer and Reid. Whatever it takes, nothing else matters, stay focused Tea People and Conservatives.

Blance Lincoln survived the AK Dem Primary, but she trails by 25 big points to Republican Boozeman. Lincoln did not win anything, she got an invitation to an ass kicking.

Haley still has work to do in SC and I hope she pulls it out.

If you want to dump the Dems and incumbents, do everything you can to help your candidates. Volunteer on their website and donate if you can. Make phone calls, help fund raise and do block walks. If everone makes just 100 calls, and walks their neighborhoods it makes a huge difference.

You don’t need to do it day after day. If you can commit to a few nights or days of walking or calls that is all it takes. Most people have demandng lives and can’t commit big chunks of time, but that little bit from a lot of people is really big.

I hate making calls, but I am doing it. Block walking is done on designated weekends with large groups and you will meet like minded people. It can be a lot of fun.

“Looking at the results that was the first thought that popped into my head. Except that Palin endrsed Doug Hoffman in NV, not Sharon Angle. ”

Actually this is not correct. Doug Hoffman was in the race in NY a while back, where Palin endorsed him over Dede Scozzasomething or another, who ran as a GOPer but was really a Dem in disguise. Palin made no endorsement in the GOP Primary race in Nevada, because all 3 contenders are deemed true conservatives and Palin chose to stay out of that. Going forward I have no doubt that Palin will support the NV GOP contender against Reid.

Anyone want to bet on the number of “women’s” groups that will support any of the Republican “Women” who won their primaries? My bet would be a big fat zero. Women’s groups will not support women who don’t toe the abortion line.

I am pro-choice and can find areas to agree with conservative pro-life women so long as they are not as fanatically “pro-life” as many liberal women are “pro-choice”.  Quite truthfully I don’t much care for “fanatics” from either side of the issue.

IMO unless and until all women work together we will continue to be the majority that doesn’t affect our lives in the way we can and should. JMO

  • candy

I whole-heartedly cheer for Sharon despite that I don’t agree with her on many issues. The win here is that Dems keep saying they are the party for women, and the Tea Party and conservative voters are now exposing the Dems for this lie.

Here’s the difference between the Dems and the Tea Party. With the Dems, a woman is not allowed to be anything BUT the ellitist club member and must be pro-choice. You must have the right pedigree college degree, have a somewhat respectable career, and 1-2 kids (but not more than that please), and obssess with self-indulgent whines incessantely about how you should juggle work and career. If you are a woman who does everything right per above and toe the Democratic line, then they throw you some bones, but up to a point, you hit the glass ceiling and you will NEVER EVER get ahead. They’ll crush you and still expect you to play nice like a girl. You’re expected to take second place and smile adoringly at your lovely Messiah. You put him on the cover of your “feminist” magazine.

You look at the Tea Party and the GOP women candidates who succeeded today, they are not required to be any kind of woman. This slate of winners are so diverse in their personal backgrounds, it should put the Democrats and so-called “feminists” to shame. The conservative voters voted for these women for their platforms and ideologies, not for being some party approved proto-type of woman. They are allowed to be themselves, as long as they vow to stand for their people and their constituents. They don’t care to please MSM about their looks, and are all comfortable in their own skins.  They don’t play any victim cards with their gender.

And off topic here, I’m disgusted with the new ugly rumor going around about Sarah Palin getting a boob job. This is about as ugly as the last round of rumor about Trig not being her own son. It defies common sense that her teenage daughter Bristol would have had a down-syndrome baby, as down-syndrome babies happen to older women who give births. This time, it again defies common sense that Palin, who has had a crazy travelling schedule campaigning for her candidates, would have time to get a surgery and recover fully from it. It IS a major surgery. Would she not need any recovery time? The accusation is just absolutely vicious and unfair.

    National Review,

    Original Article

Oh, those “mama grizzlies, they rise up.” So says Sarah Palin, rightfully, and it bears repeating after two high-flying lady Republicans she championed swept to victory on Tuesday. In South Carolina, Nikki Haley outdistanced three rivals in the GOP gubernatorial primary (falling just short of a majority, but she is heavily favored to win the runoff on June 22), while in California, Carly Fiorina held off four Republicans in a crowded Senate primary. Their wins are Palin’s, too.

  • Olivia1998

How Sharron Angle, the choice of the Tea Party,
    became Harry Reid’s challenger

    Daily Caller,
    by Alex Pappas

    Original Article

    6/9/2010

Republican voters in Nevada on Tuesday nominated Sharron Angle to take on Democratic Sen. Harry Reid — something that was unimaginable just two months ago when Angle was polling in the single digits and having a hard time getting anybody to pay attention to her campaign. Then came the Tea Party Express (TPX). Everything changed when the group, run by longtime Republican operatives in California, threw its weight behind Angle in Washington D.C. at a Tax Day conference heavily attended by the national media. “When the Tea Party Express endorsed her, everybody took a second look,”

It was supposed to be “politics as usual” with the usual results. Paint a female on the rise with “the scarlet letter” and, for good measure, remind people that her parents came from “someplace else” where the people are dark and may wear a turban. Then sit back – preferably with a cigar in one hand and a bourbon in the other — and watch said candidate slink away as voters run back to a Daddy figure who knows best.

These wins make me so happy – I was heartbroken when the Dems pushed Hillary aside & stabbed her in the back………. I was one of her 18 million supporters – I still like her but am having trouble with her Stepford routine

That being said, I don’t agree with Sarah on everything but since my eyes were opened finally – by the ways women were and are controlled & treated by the Dems – they can kiss my ass – they dumped me on 5/31/08 & I became an Independent – that means I can vote for whoever I want to support – right now I’m voting for women – men have screwed up this country pretty badly and women can do no worse – and FWIW – after listening to the issues and values the Republican women are saying they support – I’m all in……………

Sarah has not announced for 2012 but if and I’m hoping that turns into when – I will work to get her elected as President just as hard as I worked for Hillary……………. Integrity & Honesty matter and these women have both……………….

    White House official: ‘Organized
    labor just flushed $10 million
    down the toilet’

    Politico,
    by Ben Smith

    Original Article

    6/9/2010

A senior White House official just called me with a very pointed message for the administration’s sometime allies in organized labor, who invested heavily in beating Blanche Lincoln, Obama’s candidate, in Arkansas. “Organized labor just flushed $10 million of their members’ money down the toilet on a pointless exercise,” the official said. “If even half that total had been well-targeted and applied in key House races across this country, that could have made a real difference in November.”

Now, now we shouldn’t be so hard on Mr. Marchant. What happened that infamous night, June 14, is that his toupee fell off his head and rolled to right outside Haley’s hotel door.

The June 8 elections: A verdict on
    incumbents, unions, and Democrats

    Washington Examiner,
    by Michael Barone

    Original Article

    6/9/2010

Eleven states voted yesterday in primaries and runoffs—the largest number of the year—and one way to look at the results is that no incumbent member of Congress lost his or her bid for reelection. So does this make 2010 less of an anti-incumbent (and anti-Democratic) year? Not really. I am put in mind of the story of the Teamsters Union business agent who was confined to the hospital. A bouquet was sent, with a note reading: “The Executive Board wishes you a speedy recovery, by a vote of nine to six.”

  • Sassy

I heard that “Ahnold” messed up his ballot by voting for two Senators. Jon Stewart may mention his “hanging chads” on another show! LOL!
I have not seen actual returns, but there was only a 13% turnout in Arkansas for Blanche Lincoln’s race. Reports yesterday indicated that turnout was extremely light in Nevada as well.
I’m losing patience with people who gripe 365 days and won’t take a few hours to vote!
Congratulations to the ladies! We are moving on up!

Bill Clinton calls La. senator ‘sinner’ in fundraising letter

    http://www.nypost.com/p/blogs/capitol/bills_clinton_calls_la_senator_sinner_luzbCZPUtN35wTj4sTRe9J

     12:45 PM, June 8, 2010 ι By DAVID SEIFMAN

Former President Clinton has sent out a fundraising letter on behalf of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee under his own name warning that Republicans are trying to “derail’ President Obama’s agenda.

    Not much unexpected there.

But along with the letter, Clinton has included a flyer from the DSCC that’s bound to raise eyebrows.

“DSCC funds go towards efforts to unseat far-right Republican senators like admitted sinner David Vitter…” the flyer says, referring to the Louisiana senator who admitted patronizing a prostitution service when he was in the House.

Vitter has been a Clinton foe for a long time, calling on President Clinton to step down in 1998 because of his affair with Monica Lewinsky.

In 2009, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee voted 16-1 to approve President Obama’s nomination of Hillary Rodham Clinton as Secretary of State.

Casting the sole “nay” vote was Vitter, who was concerned about Bill Clinton’s “multimillion dollar minefield of conflicts of interest.”

Next time, Clinton — an admitted sinner in his own right — might want to check the small type in campaign material he distributes.

Larry, Sarah also endorsed  Rep Governor Candidate Susana Martinez when Susana was running 3rd in a 5 way race.

The following day a poll was released with her basically tied (within 1) for the win.  Within 2 weeks, she took the lead with almost 10 pts.

She won the following with with a thumping of almost 25 pts…..in a 5 way…with name recognition Domenici’s son also running.

Yes, not reported in the news, but the reality for those paying attention, especially with the bump Nikki Haley and Carly Fiorina received from their endorsements, show’s she is a powerful person.

And, did you see her KICK BUTT post on Facebook?  I bet you’d like it.

    Less Talkin’, More Kickin’
50 days in, and we’ve just learned another shocking revelation concerning the Obama administration’s response to the Gulf oil spill. In an interview aired this morning, President Obama admitted that he hasn’t met with or spoken directly to BP’s CEO Tony Hayward. His reasoning: “Because my experience is, when you talk to a guy like a BP CEO, he’s gonna say all the right things to me. I’m not interested in words. I’m interested in actions.”

First, to the “informed and enlightened” mainstream media: in all the discussions you’ve had with the White House about the spill, did it not occur to you before today to ask how the CEO-to-CEO level discussions were progressing to remedy this tragedy? You never cease to amaze. (Kind of reminds us of the months on end when you never bothered to ask if the President was meeting with General McChrystal to talk about our strategy in Afghanistan.)

Second, to fellow baffled Americans: this revelation is further proof that it bodes well to have some sort of executive experience before occupying the Oval Office (as if the painfully slow response to the oil spill, confusion of duties, finger-pointing, lack of preparedness, and inability to grant local government simple requests weren’t proof enough). The current administration may be unaware that it’s the President’s duty, meeting on a CEO-to-CEO level with Hayward, to verify what BP reports. In an interview a few weeks ago with Greta Van Susteren, I noted that based on my experience working with oil execs as an oil regulator and then as a Governor, you must verify what the oil companies claim – because their perception of circumstances and situations dealing with public resources and public trust is not necessarily shared by those who own America’s public resources and trust. I was about run out of town in Alaska for what critics decried at the time as my “playing hardball with Big Oil,” and those same adversaries (both shortsighted Repubs and Dems) continue to this day to try to discredit my administration’s efforts in holding Big Oil accountable to operate ethically and responsibly.

Fran, I think you said it well.

The lamestream media and Obama cheerleaders can try to claim a win for Obama, but they know, like everyone else, it’s against everything Obama.  No Liberal groups, no unions, NO MORE THUGGERY AND BUYING ELECTIONS.  They are done with Obama’s Democrats.  And they know these folks are all that have been promoting and pushed Barry.

This is a defining moment, this is the REAL Democrats saying, we don’t like the “new democratic party” that Donna Brazile proudly declared.  The NEW DEMOCRATIC PARTY that is in power, just lost half their base.

THAT’s the reality.  Now, when it comes time for the General Election, my bet is, they say no thanks to the status quo,   Blanche Lincoln has a pitiful record to win on.   She can’t be bought?  Wasn’t she the first to take a buy out for agreeing to the health care bill?  Oh right.

felizarte, I have found, the ones not polling so great in the primary, usually have a come from behind win.    The underdog gets known, they are not bored with, and WIN!

When the talking heads try to use polls to sway the election, and people don’t cave, just like the typical “oh, I can’t wait to run against them”, when you hold to principle, the incumbent LOSES!

  • Captain Jack Sparrow

Susie Dear… Just because I don’t think much of Palin as a Presidential potential does not make me a democrat. Matter of fact I am a former REPUBLICAN now an Indpendant. Matter of fact I was a Goldwater Republican. Matter of fact if Barry was alive I am sure he too would be shaking his head at the Republican Party of today, especially in Arizona and especially with folk like Palin.

As far as sexist goes. that to I am not. Though as a male I am not dead and note a looker when I see one. I am sure you don’t do that when you see a hunk floating around. I just bet you are disguested by the looks of well built men. Then agin you might be drawn to your own sex. What ever….

But you can feel sorry for this so-calle uninformed male all you want. Fact is your the type of uniformed emotional voter that is the real problem with this Country….

AFL to White House: ‘Labor isn’t
an arm of the Democratic Party’

    Politico,
    by Ben Smith

    Original Article

    6/9/2010

The major labor federation AFL-CIO took sharp objection tonight to a White House official’s assessment that they’d “flushed $10 million of their members’ money down the toilet” in the “pointless exercise” of supporting the failed bid of Bill Halter to unseat Sen. Blanche Lincoln. “If that’s their take on this, then they severely misread how the electorate feels and how we’re running our political program. When we say we’re only going to support elected officials who support our issues,” said AFL-CIO spokesman Eddie Vale.

the beast part of the whole editorial is when she offers here help to dumb and dumber in washington to help hold bp’s feet to the fire.
again she shows true leadership as what other politician would offer to help the opposistion when by not helping it would advance their posistion.in this sarah again shows she loves the country more than her own ambitions and at the same time makes me lol.

His machine failed every time there has been a vote.  He is history and will be lucky if he doesn’t end up in jail.

Wish someone would start a class action suit against him for the mess with BP so that when he is tossed from office he also looses the thing he cares about most – his personal fortune.

And I don’t believe for a minute that he hasn’t spoken to the CEO of BP.  He has just done it behind closed doors same as he did with big Pharma and the Insurance industry and Goldman.   You can tell it is true because there is nothing Obama likes better then telling a big bald faced lie and “I haven’t spoken to the CEO of BP” ranks right up there with “I am not a crook”,

  • I’m a Lindatoo

either they are trying their typical push polling….trying to make people BELIEVE what they say, even though it’s not true (they should have learned it didn’t work in the primary…she still won) or they are confirming how out of touch they are.

Principles people always win.  Which is why I believe they are scared shitless they KNOW he can’t win against her.

  • I’m a Lindatoo

Looking at the results that was the first thought that popped into my head. Except that Palin endrsed Doug Hoffman in NV, not Sharon Angle.

Not really if you agree with the actual results.  Palin endorsed Hoffman when he was waaaay down in the polls.  After her endorsement….as the Democrats know, but won’t admit, he surrrrrgggged in the poll and the RINO withdrew from the race.  He came very close to winning.  And THAT’S the reality Dem’s want you to not notice.

  • Mr. Natural

Yeah! How many chains did they wear out lifting Mamie Eisenhower’s face?

  • Captain Jack Sparrow

    Don

Another idiot without a village…. We already have one guy in the WH who has very limited experience and who got elected because he talked the talk. Now you and others want to do the same thing with Palin who is another one with very limited experience and being Governor of Alaska is NOT experience for the Office of President. I know commissioners who counties are three times the size of Alaska and they are not qualified for the Office of President either.

So what yur saying is that your talker is better than the other guys talker…..

    What shit….

Hi Linda, wanted to ask how hubby is doing? Hope things have calmed down for you somewhat. Have you managed to relax a little with that glass of wine?

  • kenoshamarge

The Democrats have had a majority since 2006, so why no ERA is they are the “women’s”  party? Seems too many women sold their votes for a bunch of b.s.

  • I’m a Lindatoo

    Oh thank you, Just Me.

They are starting to calm down a bit…again.  After a few days, had some scariness with the prolonged “no sleep” and “starving” and not being able to eat and “pain”.   But he is being a better patient, and agreeing to medicine to at least get him through the difficult times.

No, haven’t gottent to relax much, but I suspect it should be coming soon.

  • Peggy Sue

Sadly true, Captain.  All this angst and yet turnout at the polls was low last night.  Doesn’t say anything particularly positive from where I sit.  And throwing the bums out with new faced bums isn’t going to get the job done.  Unless you like ping-pong. Is Obama lame?  Yes, indeedy.  But until we start looking at the system that delivers same old, same old, we’re going to be screaming bloody murder every election cycle.  And the result?  Nada.

There’s only one party in this country.  It’s the Corporate Party.  Insatiable and highly destructive.  Everything else is theater.

  • ~~JustMe~~

Glad there has been some improvement. Remember, you’re in our thoughts!

Whatever people think of Palin… let me qualify this by saying I like her a lot… but whatever people think, it is clear that she is kicking BO’s ass and his multi-million dollar blogging astroturf machine with a free facebook page. Hilarious. She is living rent free in BO’s head and the bot’s hating her just endears her all the more to real America. Palin or Newt in 2012. Maybe Palin and Newt in 2012. I think it’s doable. I have the perfect slogan to run on… “hope and change” as in putting America back to the Reagan 80′s. I takes a Reagan to fix a Jimmy Carter economy… it’s going to take two of them to fix the Barackalypse.

  • I’m a Lindatoo

Just received this in an email and thought, how perfectly fitting-for this thread and topic of events.

One morning, the husband returns the boat to their lakeside
Cottage after several hours of fishing and decides to take a nap.

Although not familiar with the lake, the wife decides to take the boat out.
She motors out a short distance, anchors, puts her feet up,
and begins to read her book.
The peace and solitude are magnificent.

Along comes a Fish and Game Warden in his boat.
He pulls up alongside the woman and says, ‘Good morning, Ma’am. What are you doing?’

‘Reading a book,’ she replies, (thinking, ‘Isn’t that obvious?’)

‘You’re in a Restricted Fishing Area,’ he informs her.

‘I’m sorry, officer, but I’m not fishing. I’m reading.’

‘Yes, but I see you have all the equipment.
For all I know you could start at any moment.
I’ll have to take you in and write you up.’

‘If you do that, I’ll have to charge you with sexual assault,’ says the woman.

‘But I haven’t even touched you,’ says the Game Warden.

‘That’s true, but you have all the equipment..
For all I know you could start at any moment.’

‘Have a nice day ma’am,’ and he left.

    MORAL:
Never argue with a woman who reads.
It’s likely she can also think.

In her current position, SOS, Hillary is in line for the WH, after Biden and Pelosi. (I don’t think Robert Byrd would be considered for one second, although technically he is in line too.) If the administration goes down in flames, taking its pet Congresscritters such as Pelosi with it, she will be legally able to step forward and take charge and get the mess cleaned up. If she resigns, she has to run again and that takes time, time we may not have. My favorite daydream scenario is Obama impeached/resigns, Biden names Hillary as VP and resigns himself. Hillary names Biden as VP, and he does photo-ops and cheerleading speeches and she goes to work as President and gets us out of this mess.

Re: Principles. You are so right. These women don’t need to create fake narratives.

This may sound a bit off, but all of this reminds me of Sylvester (a gay singer from SF). He’s been dead for many years, but in one of his live performances he introduced his backup group–The Weather Girls. And I loved his commentary about them. He said they didn’t need “them dresses”; they didn’t need “them jewries”; they didn’t need that hair–because–”these woman can sing, ya’ll!”

Looks like we’re getting a crop of woman who can “represent the people, ya’ll ;) .

    Nikki Haley’s Palmetto Prize

    Time Magazine,
    by Michael Scherer

    Original Article

    6/10/2010

Only in South Carolina, the unmatched mud pit of Republican politics, can unproven accusations of extramarital affairs made by two different men boost a woman’s standing in the polls. But that’s how it has gone for Nikki Haley, who rode voter anger to a commanding victory over three more-established rivals in the slime-stained gubernatorial primary on June 8. “We said no to the dark side of politics,” she declared to cheers at a victory rally on election night. “We saw us push against the Establishment.” For weeks, Haley has stood in the center of a Palmetto State mudslinging circus….
