Some of Obama’s political hacks on the teevee are trying to spin that O was not referring to Sarah. Watching the people behind Obama reminded me of the people jumping and cheering Rev Wright and Phleger at O’s church when they put Hillary down.

I honestly think this was just a stupid remark that he simply did not think through. A few days ago he was using the “he was for it before he was against it” line on Palin, apparently forgetting the original target of this attack was none other than Obama’s illustrious predecessor John Kerry. I doubt Obama intended to reopen the old wounds of that campaign, but rather simply did not have a clue where that line comes from.

TO be completely honest, I am not 100% sure Barry was referring to Sarah Palin (though I would not put it past him.)

The folks at FreeRepublic have found an interesting… uh, shall we say coincidence… concerning Barack Obama’s widely panned September 9 comments made at a rally in Virginia where he seemed to be saying that Governor Palin was a “pig” by referencing the “lipstick” quote from her acceptance speech at the GOP convention. It is looking like Obama’s comments were not off the cuff, but scripted. And, not only were they scripted, but they were stolen without attribution from a Washington Post political cartoon by Tom Toles from September 5. Will the media notice?

Obama tried to quip that “you can put lipstick on a pig, it’s still a pig” when attacking the McCain/Palin record. But the entire segment, including the previous comments leading up to the insensitive “pig” line, are almost word for word from the Tom Toles cartoon from September 5.

No, it’s that this isn’t sexism. “Putting lipstick on a pig” is a pretty common phrase, indicating prettying up that which is inherently not pretty. My brother used it to describe a Pontiac Aztek that someone had spent quite a lot of time and money modifying. John McCain is a frequent user of this phrase.

At the end of the movie, Michael Douglas confronts his challenger by saying, “These are serious times.” which is the same thing Obama said today about the lipstick comment.

It was inappropriate to use that particular phrase, as was, IMO, the “stinking fish” which, if you ask me, was a reference to Sarah Barracuda. Interestingly, I think the Repubs can use his response against him as well. He’s apparently sick of the “phony outrage” and he wants to “debate the issues.” Apparently his campaign didn’t feel that way during the primary, when the campaign pulled the race card against both Clintons and he turned down opportunities to debate. When John McCain wanted to debate before the conventions, Obama couldn’t fit it in his schedule. That was because he just had to take a vacation in Hawaii and, incidentally, attend fundraisers. What kills me is he is always condemning the old “politics as usual” when his campaign’s tactics have proved to be the same or worse.

I just watched Barry’s remarks about the “Lipstick-gate” controversy. I was afraid he was going to apologize and respectfully say that he had not intended to offend and was denouncing sexism in the election. If that had been the tone of his speech, the whole thing would have gone away and he would look presidential. But, of course, he isn’t presidential so he did exactly what I had hoped and what I know his immaturity compels him to do. He blamed John McCain and, in fact, acted like all of us who know that the line was intended to ridicule Gov. Palin are idiots and foolish. In other words, his inability to put his ego on the back burner for the good of his campaign is playing right into the hands of the McCain campaign. Who would have thought that a smiling, positive, hockey mom with a “servant’s heart”(her words) would be able to knock The One off his political pedistal so completely and with such effectiveness?

It kills me all the frantic sideline coaching Obama has started to get from HuffPo and others. “Here’s what he needs to do.” hahahahahaha

Yeah, I’ve thought about this a lot. It seems to me that you all are taking this election awfully personally. And not in a good way, where the policies of each candidate do affect you personally.

I’ll tell you, I’m an American first, a Democrat second, and an Obama supporter third. My support of Obama only goes as far as to meet the requirements of the first two. If he does something real, something legitimate, something I disagree with, I’ll be the first to burn him down for it. But you’re either scraping awfully hard to find something objectionable or you’re just not that familiar with colloquial American speech.

What I’ve come to realize is that there is no possible outcome of an Obama policy that is worse than the known outcome of a McCain policy — because we don’t have to guess with McCain. He’s George W. Bush without the brains or charm, and has a truly frightening temper.

So yeah, for the next two months, Obama’s my guy. Nothing to do with his race, gender, or any other stupid crap you put up here. It’s that as a nation we have a clear choice in this election: keep doing the same things that put us in this hole, or maybe try something different. The left-wing, mainstream media has been belittling , mocking, lying about and spreading false rumor after false rumor about Governor Palin and her husband, teenage daughter and baby boy, (and making little or no mention when each one is debunked), since she was announced.

She doesn’t need the media, because the “decent majority” of Americans see right through their smears and bias, and support for Palin increases with every biased attack on her.

The media needs her, because she is the biggest story going, and because of their horrendous and unprofessional treatment her, she can in large part dictate the terms.

If they had treated her fairly, and simply asked the legitimate tough and relevant questions about her, instead of acting as Obama’s smear agents, she wouldn’t have this luxury, but now she does and there isn’t a darn thing the media can do about it. Every attack on her makes her stronger and more popular at this point.

She is doing an extensive interview with Charlie Gibson of ABC, which will air later this week, and certainly more will follow, and in about 3 weeks she will shred Joe Biden in the VP debate (will Barry be participating? He seems to be running for VP instead of President lately.)

Also, keep in mind that her oldest son is going off to Iraq tomorrow to put his life on the line for our country, and I don’t think it is unreasonable for her to want to spend a couple of days with him before that.

Yup, McCain definately failed to rise to the occasion. Having said that, these two incidents took place in completely different contexts. McCain was blindsided by a misogynistic comment in the company of a group that obviously thought that this sexist snark was clever. He chose to address the substance of the question. On the other hand Obama – ever the opportunist – appropriated an anti-woman phrase/image that had already been floating around. IMHO, this was planned and calculated. Finally, Obama has demonstrated a pattern of responding to criticism, dissent, and diversity of opinion in a manner that is dismissive and demeaning, and that resorts to stereotypes and generalizations to ward off challenges.

“Per Diem” is not something “charged” to anyone. WE, as in the military and government officials use it to get compensated for expenses during travel. For instance when I go to Walter Reed for treatment, I go to our finance office to get my orders that tell me up to how much money daily the government will reimburse me for once I get back. It will have a daily rate from gas expense, lodging and food.

Yes, you spend your OWN money, but when you get back you provide your receipts once you fill out your travel voucher to get compensated from the government. Say you have some place to stay other than a hotel. Then you wont get reimbursed for lodging but you will for how much you spend on food.

The moral of the story is that people really should find something worthy of discussion because when I look at blogs like Taylor Marsh and other Pro Obama sites using this same “she charged per diem” line its just pathetic. Because its apparent that they have no idea how Per Diem is used.

The voice of Barack Obama and comedian Dave Chapelle are interchanged in this vid to poke fun at Obama’s childish, very unstatesmen-like display prior to the PA primary where he called HRC “Annie Oakley” and such. LOL. He did look like he was delivering a stand-up routine at that rally and this vid was cleverly put together to mock him.

The bottom line–In any role of leadership, it is absolutely vital that you have good communication skills. The simple fact that his words could be interpreted one way or another makes him a BAD example of what it means to be a good leader. This is not a good way to start a presidency. Especially when the main role of a president is a diplomat to the united states and thus absolutely requires very good communication skills. We all know what he meant, question is, do you excuse his behavior and right it off, or do you hold him accountable.

I knew they switched to Palin’s side. The night of the convention there was major contention apparent betweent the women commentators and the men. YOu could tell the women wanted the men to at least acknowledge Palin’s speech. They wouldn’t do it, they would nervously go back to maps and talk about obama being more electable. The look on the women’s face were incredulous to say the least.

Mind you, playing the age card is NOT really a big deal, since McCain really is well into retirement age and has had health problems. More importantly, everyone who is old was once young. While I am not one to defend politicians, as they all tend to say and do stupid things, (God knows Obama has said more than his fair share over the course of this campaign), I see no merit in this particular claim of sexism. But, before I go on, I should also note that I am more of a Libertarian than anything else, so I don’t really care for either candidate.

This wasn’t the first time Obama used that phrase. It just happened to be the first time he used it after Palin’s lipstick joke. When taken in context of all Obama said, he was referring to the Republican ticket and party in general, not any one person in particular.

For McCain to make a big deal out of this is a bit hypocritical when you think about it, considering he himself used the exact same phrase when referring to Hillary Clinton and her platform. Does that make him sexist as well? He doesn’t seem to think so because he was referring to her take on things rather than her as person. I didn’t hold that against him at the time and he should not be holding this against Obama, because nothing personally negative was meant by it.

I am not going to try and change anyones opinion of what was said, because you are going to believe what you want to believe and most of you seem to hate Obama so much that anything that can be twisted to sound sexist will be despite the facts.

Here is something I found to be sexist even though it wasn’t reported on, and it came from the Republican National Convention of all places. There were delegates on the floor wearing Palin campaign buttons saying things such as “I am voting for the hot chick”, or “Hoosiers for the hot chick”, or “hot chick, cool ticket” Nice of the Republicans to reduce their VP nominee to a piece of meat that looks good in a dress.

To be fair, neither one of the candidates is going to do anything they say they will. Neither one will change anything with the exception of adding to the National debt with their economic plans.

I can only hope that one day an election might actually be about the issues that people face rather than one candidate crying that the other is picking on them.
