Reality Bites: “Biden bows to Clinton”

I can’t believe Joe Biden said this. He has just pulled back the curtain, and now we see that even Joe Biden knows that he brings nothing to Obama’s race, and that they’re in trouble — big trouble. From Ben Smith’s blog at Politico.com:

Biden bows to Clinton

Biden, today in Nashua, NH, in response to an inaudible question from an audience member:

“Make no mistake about it Hillary Clinton is as qualified as or more qualified than I am” to be vice president, Biden said. “And quite frankly, she may have been a better pick than me.”

What a stunning admission.

It’s not a surprise, though. How could a guy who could barely get 2,000 votes in the presidential primaries have anything to offer the Democratic ticket that would translate into getting voters excited enough to vote for the ticket?

It’s pathetic. It’s the Democratic party once again seizing defeat from the jaws of victory.

Anyone here get the feeling that Obama is trying to set up a step down for Biden to allow Hillary to take the VP site?

It’s going to happen if Hillary says yes because Obama is so desperate.

Perhaps we should rename Joe Biden “Truthteller.”

Tennessee Rep. Compares Obama to Jesus, Suggests Palin is Pontius Pilate

    by FOXNews.com
    Wednesday, September 10, 2008

Tennessee Rep. Steve Cohen riled Republicans Wednesday after he compared Barack Obama to Jesus Christ and suggested Sarah Palin is akin to Pontius Pilate.

The Tennessee Democrat, who supports Obama, was on the House floor giving a one-minute speech when he offered the comparisons.

“If you want change, you want the Democratic Party,” Cohen said. “Barack Obama was a community organizer like Jesus, who our minister prayed about. Pontius Pilate was a governor.”

A similar statement has been circulating in e-mails and on blogs in recent days, before Cohen spoke Wednesday.

But Cohen was referencing shots Palin took at Obama during her address last week at the Republican National Convention in St. Paul. Palin, a former mayor, poked fun at Obama for crediting his work as a community organizer, saying, “I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a community organizer, except that you have actual responsibilities.”

The National Republican Congressional Committee objected to Cohen’s statements Wednesday in a press release, pointing out that Pilate sentenced Christ to death and asking, “What point was Cohen trying to make?”

Cohen’s remarks also play into Republican charges that Obama fancies himself a celebrity-like or messianic figure in the 2008 race. They also come on the heels of Obama’s comment Tuesday that “you can put lipstick on a pig, but it’s still a pig.”

Palin supporters allege the oft-used expression was directed at Palin, who joked in the same speech that the difference between hockey moms like her and pit bulls is lipstick.

Joe Biden is just preparing the way for Hillary CLinton to take over the VP position without much controversy. But I heard she will refuse to get in now. Michelle Obama is the one who did not wnat HRC on the ticket.

HRC needs to take the top of the ticket and get thia ship back on track. Otherwise, it is best if he lose so she can have a political career in 2012.

Biden: Hillary a Better Pick Than Me
    Email
    Share September 10, 2008 5:17 PM

ABC News’ Matthew Jaffe Reports: Barack Obama’s vice-presidential nominee Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., Wednesday said that Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, might have been a better pick for the position than him.

At a rally in Nashua, New Hampshire, a man in the audience told Biden how glad he was that Obama picked him over Hillary “not because she’s a woman, but because look at the things she did in the past.”

“Make no mistake about this,” Biden responded. “Hillary Clinton is as qualified or more qualified than I am to be vice president of the United States of America. Let’s get that straight. She’s a truly close personal friend, she is qualified to be president of the United States of America, she’s easily qualified to be vice president of the United States of America and quite frankly it might have been a better pick than me. But she’s first rate, I mean that sincerely, she’s first rate, so let’s get that straight.”

It is precisely because we share her true values that we would never vote for another incompetent fool — like Bush.

That incompetent fool is Obama in case you had not noticed.

We would rather vote country over party and have a holding pattern with the moderate Repub McCain held in check by a Dem congress.

Then perhaps the DNC will be cleansed of all the idiots and Hillary can be our rightful pres in 4 years.

If Obama gets in, he will ruin the Dem brand for 20 years (even worse than he is ruining it now). No Dem. could be elected after that for a long while. Get it, cocky wacko????

As if we have to dignify this with a response.

If Obama shared our values or Hillary’s, he would not have reneged on FISA or be a sexist, homophobic slob.

Maybe Biden is starting to see the writing on the wall.

Maybe Democrats are starting to see their best bet to take on Palin in 2012 will be a Hillary v. Palin matchup, and so he is working damage control for HILLARY now, so that Obama’s loss won’t be blamed on HER, and she will garner the support of Democrats in 2012.

  • beebop

They have done all of this to THEMSELVES … all the Republicans have had to do is film it and get it on the air. Just imagine the 527 material sitting ready to be cued in two weeks. My goodness. I am going to buy some Orville Reddenbocker stock! It should really POP!

This is just trying to win back some Clinton votes. “Look, we can be magnaminous, so we’re good guys.” That’s the message. It’s to shore up their position, pure and simple. Don’t expect a change om the ticket. In any case, the only one which would be meaningful would be at the top.

  • LogicallySpeaking

Palin won’t run for president in 2012.

  • Peggy Sue

What was Joe Biden thinking? He’s a seasoned veteran, been around the block a gazillion times. Is the whole party losing its mind???

I like Joe Biden. But what would possess him to say this in public? He might be thinking that; lots of people are thinking the same thing.

But to say it in public???

This is meltdown city. It’s almost painful to watch. What a frigging disaster. I thought this whole Obama trance would unravel. I just didn’t think it would happen this quickly.

    Amazing!

Jesus wouldn’t need to run for President. And what hypocracy for the Dems to bring Jesus into an election when they should separate religion from politics to distinguish themselves from the Republicans.

Biden’s stating the obvious. Everyone else is thining it or stating it out loud. 18 million votes without playing the race card to cover up inexperience or committing party destruction to grab the nomination clearly qualify you for President.

“Did you hear the one about the woman who is attacked on the street by a gorilla, beaten senseless, raped repeatedly and left to die? When she finally regains consciousness and tries to speak, her doctor leans over to hear her sigh contently and to feebly ask, ‘Where is that marvelous ape?”

Perhaps the charismatic historical religious figure Obama should more accurately be compared to is Mohammed. This is not the intent to perpetuate the meme that Obama is a closet Muslim, but to draw a comparison to the historical Mohammed whose community activism included deceit and deception, murder, genocide and mayhem, subjugation of women, and a little rape, pillaging and plundering on the side for income and sport.

  • Peggy Sue

I’m there with you, beebop. I’m stunned watching and hearing what’s going on.

And unlike what many Obamatrons may think, it doesn’t give me any joy. It makes me feel a little sick to see the party I’ve always believed in, worked for, voted for, self-destruct.

Well, the Dems have been busy today.

Then we get the Citizen Against Government Wasteful Spending giving the following ratings on earmark spending.

I saw 2 different numbers today:

    McCain at 100% or 88%
    Obama at 10% or 29%
    Biden at 0% or ??

The Republicans need to make an immediate ad on this – Obama blatantly lied in an ad against Sarah and earmarks.

He, also, liked on the Bridge to Nowhere – him and Biden voted for it – Sarah voted against it.

OMG – this is unbelievable to watch

  • roseeriter

LMAO!! The sad thing is I can actually picture that happening. He really didn’t look very enthused. LOl!

  • Judy

fyi – the percentages were approval ratings – not negatives.

Is this comment supposed to warm up the hearts of the disaffected Hillary Dems., so we can shift back to BO/Joe? Forget about it. Too late—the DNC & BO’s poor judgment is now for all to see, yet again!

How can anyone trust BO’s judgment on anything when he screwed his VP pick up? What is he going to do on national security issues? Scary!

  • Diana L. C.

I am at the point that I do NOT want to see Hillary having to do the heavy lifting for that fool!! It’s the story of all women in the work place. We do the grunt work, know the details, set the agendas, write the memos and reports, but the young thre-piece suit with no knowledge or experience gets the credit. Not until Obama steps down to the VP position and invites Hillary into the top position will I vote for him.

Here’s what Ross Perot said about McCain.

they see the writing on the wall.

THey know they cant remove Obama now and regret what they have done.

They know they are going to take it up the bumm in november.

So they are beginning to have the party leaders who are going to survive this debacle start laying the groundwork of we always wanted Hillary now and let the nutjobs like COhen and Brazile light themselves on fire over the next two months.

THen the great surgery will ovvur over the net 2 years and the party will rally to clinton to rescue them in 2 years and it will be the shortest primary in history.

    Just watch.

But I guarantee you they can’t ull a switcheroo on biden now. It would be political suicide for everyone.

Obama and Biden were ‘selected’ by the Chicago thug politician otherwise known as the Daley machine.

Biden didn’t want it because the high profile is going to expose his implicit corruption involving his son, the lobbyist, and key legislation with the banking industry. Of which Biden is chair.

Biden is still running for Senator of Delaware.

Can’t wait until the fireworks begin with the real attack ads. The Republicans are tuned and prepped for it but Obama is the gift that keeps spitting stuff out. I believe it will take decades for the Democratic Party to recover from the scam and fraud they perpetuated this year — if the party survives at all. It may go the way of the late Whig party.

I have voted Democratic all my adult life. I will no longer do so based on what I witnessed (caucus fraud, misogyny enabled by DNC leadership, squashing Hillary’s convention floor vote) this time around.

Ironically, I’m finding that the Republicans are doing a better job embodying “equal opportunity.” But I’m not fooled. It’s only because of what Hillary did in the primary and what she suffered.

OK here is what we have to do in case the Dems are laying the groundwork to drop Biden and swap to Hillary: if Obama does this it will show he made a terrible choice to begin with. Since Obama is claiming to have better judgment than McCain he will lose the ability to use that argument. Obama has to stick with Biden or come across as weak and ineffectual. Obama will also look like he is putting a women on the ticket to counter Palin after having been critical of McCain’s choice of a woman. :)

Yeah, people who live in glass houses should have their arms cut off. McCain got a 100% grade on stopping wasteful spending. Obama 10% and poor Biden: 0%.

So, clearly the earmark attack is a useless strategy. Plus if you look at the per diem charges for Palin against her predecessor, it’s a fraction of the amount: $93,000 to $400,000+.

There was nothing crooked or shakey about the charges; she was entitled to the money under Alaskan financial standards. In fact, her withdrawals were modest in comparison.

I think we are reaching if we believe Joe did this because he is getting ready to step down, he’d just have a “heart attack” or some manufactured illness if that were the case. Obama would never recover from HIS base if he kicked off Joe to take Hillary now, mostly because it would be seen as the weakest political move ever. He would not be Acting, he would be Reacting, and it would show just how frightened he is of Palin. The GOP would have a field day, and the Independents would see this as pathetic…No, I think this was Joe being asked to pander for Clinton voters. After all, BO is meeting with Bill tomorrow for lunch, and pundits at Fox (who are usually spot on) are saying Obama is begging for Bill to be as visible on the trail as possible…this is pandering, nothing more.

I’m sick of all these numb nuts calling on the Clinton’s to clean up their messes. The Clinton’s are “racists” when it’s convenient for Barky and Donna – but now they want to be b/f with them? Screw the Dems. They got just what they deserved.

Yea, it took a Clinton to clean up after a Bush – but NO WAY to Hillary cleaning up after the Radical Zero. He made his bed, let his a** rot in it.

Don’t say we didn’t warn you, Desperate, Derelict “Democratic” Party.

WIN WITHOUT ME! 18 million cracks are coming home to roost! And it ain’t in your chicken coop, Barky.

This is just another cheap trick by which they think all the Hillary supporters will come running back teary-eyed and kiss BO’s feet. They are on the run and Hillary should stay away.

And what would those values be? The ones Soetoro/Obama stole or the ones he scoffed at?

We “low information” voters know the values of the candidates we voted for in the primary and Senator Clinton as VP will not give her the same power as Cheney had in the Bush administrations; ergo, we won’t be seeing her health care plan put in place during the next four years whether she’s on or off the ballot…unless she’s at the top. Think you can talk Soetoro/Obama into abdicating? (Yes, I mean give up his crown.)

    Expect More Joint McCain-Palin Rallies

Posted: Wednesday, September 10, 2008 5:20 PM by Mark Murray
    Filed Under: 2008, McCain-Palin

    From NBC/NJ’s Matthew E. Berger
ABOARD PALIN CAMPAIGN PLANE — The McCain campaign is “very seriously considering” having McCain and Palin campaign together more often than not in the next two months, a senior campaign aide said, adding it could be the most a presidential and vice presidential candidate campaign in tandem in recent history.

The aide said the two have developed a strong chemistry together and will likely utilize it through joint rallies. He likened it to the chemistry Bill Clinton and Al Gore had in 1992, suggesting it was instinctive.

“Sometimes these vice presidential selections, the pairings, work in a magical way,” the aide told reporters on the Palin campaign plane, on condition of anonymity. The plane is en route to Fairbanks, AK, where Palin will see her eldest son off to military service.

The aide said there has been increased enthusiasm for the campaign as well, and the pair has been able to connect on energy and economic issues, as well as change. “And we like the images,” he said.

“There’s just a huge amount of enthusiasm,” he said. “It clicks.”

Again Bullshit. That was linked to and debunked three times yesterday.

  • Obamabot HQ

    You’re an idiot. That’s all–just an idiot.

  • Duras

New Fox News poll has McCain ahead of Obama nationally by 45%-42%. McCain’s support among independents and men has increased significantly since the conventions.

    http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,420361,00.html

But the poll contained one key question that I think bodes very well for McCain. From the article:

“About one in seven voters is still undecided about their vote for president, and these are the voters who will likely determine who occupies the White House. What do these undecided folks feel in their gut about the candidates? To try to get at that the poll asked: If you had to make the “toughest decision” of your life, who would you rather get advice from — Obama or McCain?

The results show undecided voters may be more apt to pull the lever for McCain. A 46 percent plurality of undecideds would rather get advice from McCain — that’s nearly four times as many as the 12 percent that pick Obama.

All in all, by 50 percent to 34 percent. voters would pick McCain for advice on this tough decision.”

When it comes time to pull the lever on Election Day, voters will tend to go with the guy that they’d most trust in the clutch.

McCain and Palin are sitting pretty right now. Just gotta avoid a major gaffe for the next seven weeks.

  • cocky whacko

How can you even compare the two. Obama used a common phrase both he and McCain have used many times before. He clearly did not intend to say she was a pig. McCain told vicious jokes about a young girl who wasn’t campaigning for anything.

If the goal was to pander based on the reaction here I’d say that it was a huge error. And we don’t know if your theory is correct. Biden just made Obama and himself look bad. Also if your theory is correct it makes them look desperate that they even have to pander.

Hell yes they should be campaigning together from here on out! I can’t believe that this is even a question at this point. The two of them obviously have developed a great chemistry and McCain is visibly pumped up when he sees the crowds’ reactions to Palin. Why in the world would the people running the campaign not want them together all the time? Let’s face it: There are six or seven states that will decide this election. The two of them can effectively cover those states together.

  • Liz B

I used to live in Delaware, and my daughters still do. Biden is very popular there, and I suspect will still be when this hit he’s taking for the Democratic party is over. I don’t believe he wanted to be Obama’s VP. I don’t think he believes Obama will win, I think Joe was just out to solidify his standing in the Democratic party. His political future remains solid in Delaware. I think Joe may be aiming for (Drumroll please) Senate Majority Leader! If we can believe Hillary and Bill are doing what they have to for the party, why can’t we extend that same benefit of the doubt to Joe Biden, and this is paying one’s dues in the most revolting of ways, Senate Majority Leader is the only payoff I can believe he’d find worthy after having to campaign with and for Obama for three months.

  • Ferd McBerfle

  • katmandu

I agree. He should just say — “I put my foot in my mouth, I’m sorry.” Instead, he’s giving it more play.

Well, this is interesting. Here’s a report in the Washington Post about the Virginia rally (though it lowballs the estimates I’ve read elsewhere). It’s all about the women in the audience talking about how they identify with Palin:

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/09/10/AR2008091002573.html?hpid=topnews

    Sample:

[snip]Palin is a symbol, a statement that anyone can make it if he or she really tries.

Karla Rupp, a real estate agent, went to see Palin on behalf of her three children, especially the one who has multiple disabilities and is in a nursing home. Val Lewis couldn’t stay away — “that’s how empowering it is to have Sarah up there. I have four children; she has five. And we get it done.” But the governor of Alaska is winning people over with empathy, which the dictionary says means “understanding and entering into another’s feelings,” and with something even more direct: a sense that her experience is that of the average American family’s.

It’s too threatening to their fragile egos.

  • cocky whacko

You have really swallowed the Kool-Aid. Alaska gets about $500 per person in earmarks while Illinois gets about $30 per person. The town of Wasilla got about 1300 while she was mayor. Earmarks are part of politics, and John Kyl even admitted that McCain pushing the issue was more symbolic than anything. We are talking about vey little money. The issue is not the earmarks, but the fact that she continues to tell a blatant lie.
She supported it and Congress cut it off and she still supported it. It was only after it was clear that Congress would not come up with more money that she dropped the idea. Now she lies.

  • fluffy bunny

I think it’s another example of the Obama campaign trying to force Hillary to take veep or go out on the trail for them.

I think Hillary turned Barry down in June. I think for months Obama’s campaign kept planting stories that she was anxious for the veep nomination to try to keep her supporters on board with him.

That meeting between Bill and Obama over lunch tomorrow should be very interesting.

Like I said, I think by June Hillary and Bill knew Obama was unelectable in a national race even with her on the ticket. They had also been treated shamefully enough that they weren’t willing to give it everything they had to try to drag Obama’s problems on their backs all the way until November.

Biden accepted veep at the last minute….I think most everybody else declined. I feel sorry for Biden. He seems to be a decent fellow, and he and McCain have been good friends for many years.

  • FranSC

Not only NO! But HELL NO to Hillary replacing Biden!! I want Obama, Howard Dean, Donna Brazile, NANCY PELOSI, SC Rep Clyburn, Kennedys, McCaskill, Oprah, MoveOn.Org, et al, to go down in flames like they deserve to do for all they did to encourage this unqualified candidate to run as well as mapping out his strategy, hiring the venture capitalist company to run his campaign – raise the money, get the crowds, while faking their neutrality.

I do not want Hillary trying to save this sinking ship, whether before the election or afterwards.
As women, we MUST show that the women’s vote changes elections or else they will ignore us from now on. Also, we can no longer be held hostage by Roe v Wade. The women’s movement was not begun to just help or elect liberal women like most of us probably are. Sarah Palin is an extraordinary woman that we need to support even if she does not share all of our values. We need to keep our eye on the prize.

Palin is the best thing that has happened to women in a long time because she and ALL the republicans are calling attention to sexism and glass ceilings like we have NEVER heard before from them especially.

Hillary’s campaign underscored the total disrespect some have for women – almost as bad as Iran in some cases. Now a woman from the other side of the aisle can bring along these republican MEN who are just laying in the weeds, ready to pounce on any sexist remark said about Palin. As a woman, nothing could be more helpful than this.

  • Sandi78

If Bobo could get elected (i.e. if he’s the Antichrist)and we had a Repub majority, he might be impeached and removed within a few months, judging by all the baggage he’s got. Then, if Hillary were the veep, we’d be in business. Of course, he won’t be elected, and I’m sure Hillary knows this. She’d just be on the train wreck with him, bested by another female vp candidate. I hope Mac has already offered her the Sec. of State job.

This is interesting — and we can read between the lines on what our Champ is doing. It’s very, very smart, and the best use of her energy right now, with an eye on 2012.

Clinton’s campaigning on Sunday in Akron and Lorain Ohio, which are two cities that will go to the Democrats this year, regardless of who’s the Democrats’ nominee. It’s like campaigning in Cleveland or Philadelphia or New York City. These are strongholds that McCain/Palin have little chance in.

So why is Clinton going there?

Well, Akron’s a lovely town, and Lorain’s filled with wonderful people. Perhaps she liked both places so much during the primaries she wanted to go back again.

Or, perhaps she’s putting herself in front of SoetorObama supporters so she can prove she’s not the monster “The One” made her out to be — so she can win their support in 2012.

The most bizarre thing? I believe Mr. Cohen is Jewish. Odd fellow for them to choose to carry this “brilliant” message to the congress. He also had a tough fight in his democrat primary this year…against a nasty race baiter.

His district is a guaranteed win for the democrats this time around, but he needs to shore up his street cred perhaps.

Joe said this? How wonderful! Can we see the video?

    SusanUnPC,

THIS WAS NOT JUST ANOTHER BIDEN GAFFE

Don’t be at all surprised in the coming days that it is revealed Biden, Jim Webb and several other leading Democrats strongly suggested to Obama and the DNC that the Party’s best hope was choosing Hillary as VP. I do not believe this is just another one of Biden’s gaffes. The MSM is sure to have the goods very soon.

I think Jim Webb among others knew that being VP to Obama would be suicidal towards any future POTUS aspirations and they could not save Obama anyway. Only Hillary had the remote chance of doing so.
Biden did the good soldier routine and when all else failed, volunteered to jump on the Obama grenade and take one for the team, ultimately because his future POTUS hopes are over.

I think Hillary would have ran as Obama’s VP if asked. I think she as she is showing even now that she has the character to come her party’s rescue and attempt to play the part of Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer for a bunch of insulting rude stupid A-Holes.

Right now folks have to realize that Obama/Dean/Pelosi/Reid are absolutely deadly to the entire Democratic ticket. Pelosi and Reid destroyed the approval ratings of Congress by continually backing attempt after attempt to pass the despised and nearly treasonous Kennedy/McCain Compressive Immigration Reform bill. People are forgetting that the large “Lou Dobbs” Democratic vote that favored Hillary is swinging in mass towards McCain.

Sad to say I doubt Hillary will run again for POTUS.
This year’s campaign just proved too divisive all around. The Obama wing and its young supporters are going to need more than 4 years to get over it and grow up.

However, if Hillary and Bill can go out and help save a couple of these now troubled Senate races in MN, OR, CO, NM, AK from going down along with the Obamatitanic, then I would strongly expect there will be a move to elect Hillary as Senate Majority Leader replacing the hapless Reid. She would make a very good one. A hell of an improvement over Reid, Daschele and Foley. The best since LBJ.

Hillary – Senate Majority Leader for Life.

Nope–he resigns this late in the game the democrat party fractures and Clinton loses, badly, to McCain.

She will be much better off staying in her safe Senate seat, winning Senate majority leader (if Obama doesn’t lose the democrat majority for her) and working to send Howard Dean and his cohort packing.

  • JP

Well now, this just keeps getting more comical every minute. I thought the VP was supposed to be the “attack dog”, meaning attacking the opposition ticket. Well, Biden has decided it is better to attack his own ticket. Why not? Every one else is doing it, including Obama.

You have got to be kidding. Don’t know much about politics, eh? This is just Joe Biden being Joe Biden, his mouth runneth over. Hillary is not on the ticket because the pod people running the Democratic Party have a political hit out on the Clintons. The rest of the Dems were threatened into going along. They probably always knew it was a mistake, but now the polls are confirming it.

Interesting that the MSM had a headline up this morning asking if Hillary on the Dem ticket would have nullified the Sarah Palin effect. Answer: Hell Yes!

If Obama’s contemplating any change it should be to step down himself and put Hil at the top of the ticket where she belongs. The people in charge of the Dem Party right now are too stupid to run this country.

If you are looking for Yathrib on the map, Mohammed also renamed it Medina, s a site now celebrated as the second most venerated in Islam because of this genocidal atrocity. BREAKING

President Clinton to hit campaign trail for Obama
By NEDRA PICKLER – 28 minutes ago

NEW YORK (AP) — Barack Obama revealed Wednesday that former President Clinton, once the presidential nominee’s nemesis, will campaign for him during the weeks leading up to Election Day.

“There’s nobody smarter in politics,” Obama said on CBS’ “Late Show with David Letterman,” scheduled to air Wednesday night. “And he is going to be campaigning for us over the next eight weeks, which I’m thrilled by.”

The two were scheduled to have lunch Thursday at Clinton’s office in New York. Clinton spokesman Matt McKenna said the former president would campaign for Obama at a yet-to-be announced site in Florida on Sept. 29, with plans for more fundraising and events in the works.

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton already has been hitting the trail for Obama.

During the Democratic presidential primary, the former president acted as his wife’s chief defender from Obama’s successful challenge to her candidacy, which strained relations between him and Obama. Clinton portrayed Obama as too inexperienced for a presidential run, and Obama said sometimes it was hard to tell which Clinton he was running against.

The two didn’t speak for nearly a month after the campaign ended, but their silence ended when Obama called and the former president offered to do whatever he could to help Obama win.

Obama said there are parallels between his campaign against Republican John McCain and Clinton’s 1992 race against incumbent GOP President George H.W. Bush. He said both came during tough economic times.

“He was young and people were still trying to figure out whether or not the guy was up to the job,” Obama said of Clinton. “And so I think having him talk about why we need to change the economy in a fundamental way so it works for middle-class families so that they can get ahead, so that they can send their kids to college, I think he’d be a great advocate to have on behalf of the campaign.”

Letterman asked Obama if he would consider Bill Clinton for a Cabinet position if he wins.

“I think if you are a former president, you don’t take Cabinet positions,” Obama said to laughter from the audience. “I think it’s sort of been there, done that. It’s sort of like getting Mickey Mantle to play AAA. You don’t do it. But obviously you consult with him as often as you can, because, look, there are only a handful of people who have actually done the job.”

I’m watching Fox. They are running through the polling showing indies have decided to go with McCain (for now), not only that… they looked at all of the ‘new voters’ that Zero’s campaign is working so hard to register and turn out. 47% are for Zero… 44% for McCain. Statistical tie.

They feel Zero’s bad cycle will end tomorrow as Zero and McCain will be getting together for 9/11 which will reduce the friction.

Sorry to hear B Clinton is going out for Obama. Kind of sad to know they are just politicians afterall.

People, people. The Bible is a legend composed to apologize for the aggression of the Jews. Was it his knowledge? Nope, Biden is dumber than dirt!

Was it his popularity? Nope, Biden couldn’t be elected dog catcher in the tiny state of Vermont.

Was it his ability to influence voters and effect the outcome in swing states? Hardly. Biden can’t even spell influence!

Was it his foreign policy knowledge? I doubt it. Biden is about as knowledgeable as his running mate in that area! And thats nothing!

So why isn’t obama saying why he picked the WORSE possible running mate he could? Could it have to do with a man called LARRY SINCLAIR?

Well this man has the key to why obama picked Biden, and it has a lot to do with LARRY SINCLAIR.

Sinclair’s explanation makes more sense than anything I have read or heard to date.

I haven’t see one photo op between the two where Senator Biden looked happy to be with Senator Obama. Even the one where he’s allegedly intoxicated and is introducing Senator Obama. His enthusiasm looked fake to me.

Senator Biden always looks to me like he’s wondering what the heck he’s doing there and he’d rather be getting a root canal. It wouldn’t surprise me if he finds a challenging personal issue he suddenly must attend to that causes him to withdrawal from the ticket. However, I don’t think he’ll do it unless Senator Clinton is willing to step in for him and I don’t think that is in her career goals. But you never know, we know how far she is willing to go for party loyalty and to keep her standing, so she might do it.

I’ve wondered too about Biden being an alcoholic. Sadly, I have been around these people most of my life. Biden exemplifies being one of those relapsed alcoholics. He has the physical features with blood shot veins in his face and he slurs sometimes often times and acts intoxicated. I kinda feel sorry for him and he may be one of those drinkers that maintains and drinks everyday. He has a tendency to hog the mike. I saw him recently in a speech where Obama went to grab the mike and Joe put him off and just kept talking. I could see Obama miffed. Maybe why they are separated. Don’t worry. This will come to an awful conclusion hopefully soon…

    Look at Hill’s latest.

    Hillary: “Media sexism?”

Well, she said she wouldn’t attack Sarah Palin.

Hillary Clinton, played it cool when pelted with questions asked about Sarah Palin on Capitol Hill today — deflecting her attacks to John McCain (as she promised to do) on his opposition to equal pay legislation.

And she didn’t seem terribly upset when asked about Jonathan Martin’s revelation that one of her best friends, a top fundraiser, had started a group to fight gender bias against Palin.

“Oh you’re kidding?” she joked, feigning surprise. “Media sexism?”

The difference is at the time of the events as recounted in the Book of Genesis history had been recorded primarily as oral legend passed down throughout generations. Although there exist archeological records and artifacts to lend credence to some of the facts as recounted in the Book of Genesis, the record is incomplete, and much is left to historical speculation.

By the time of the 7th Century AD, in which Mohammed had lived, preservation of communications and writings through written records had become commonplace. There were many chroniclers present to record the life of Mohammed and the spread of Islam through violent conquest and subjugation of conquered peoples, which remains today in the historical record. This history exists not only in the canonical texts of Islam but is also corroborated in the chronicles of the vanquished and observers outside of Islam.

The whole thing is sad- just plain sad. The Obama nomination was a joke- all along. It continues to be. Sarah Palin only made Mccain look even better. The repubs and conservatives are now so energized. The dems have nothing to be excited about- just more bull from two inept men who are good people but just not in the major league. The whole thing is just sad for our country. Ego first vs. Country first. No comparison.

  • http://mbc MBC

    Ditto.

  • Joe Biden’s hair plugs speak out!

Did he go to a terrorist training camp?

Possibly, I don’t know…I was hoping you would enlighten us.

Did you miss that chapter at O-Boot Camp?

I though they would. Is a big big risk because they would be counting with TV networks to spread their message and would have to spend quite a bit of money to reach the whole country.

I think that if they can keep Obama on the defensive then they can do that successfully. If they can’t then they either break up or risk loosing the election.

Obama is ‘charismatic’ and a pathological liar. A very attractive combination for those who are swayed by words and get exited visually. Since Biden is a Zero in terms of attraction, in reality Oblahblah is campaigning alone. Considering that, then the visual and charismatic effect of McCain/Palin beats Oblahblah.

Had Bush III (for idiot) picked Hillary, McCain would have lost big time.

I love the look on Macs face when he talks about Sarah putting the Jet on EBAY. LOL He’s like an excited little kid. She’s just what the doctor ordered for him to carry out his long desired corruption clean-up.

Biden is an okay guy…but this sounds like many of the signals coming from the BO camp.
Always look humble right before the other teams drags your a$$ all over the field!
This attitude always shows up when you know you are playing in the wrong league…and wow, did the dems blow this one!!!

If Hillary takes over the bottom of the ticket, then I would place her in the same box as Obama – sham city.
Such a move would completely discredit both Clintons…forever.

check out the 2006 Alaska Governor debates on CSPAN. Biden doesn’t stand a chance. Sarah has a background in broadcasting & it shows. you may not like a few things she has to say, but she is a seasoned pro.

hello? you have deviated from your troll talking points, asshat. Get back on point. this is not about HRC.

Another stupid troll. Go back to your sinking and stinking master, Obama.

  • lusitania

    SPOT ON!

Frankly, I am perplexed as to why the Clinton’s are out there helping this sexist liar get elected and I wish they would stop. It undermines their own credibility in my eyes.

I know…I know…they are loyal democrats…she has no choice…but ya know…enough is enough. After the very little help Barry and his supporters gave her in retiring her own debt, why are they out there asking for people to give any money at all to bolster Barry and his ego.

He should have taken public financing…but he thinks he is too good for that. So now let him live with that decision. Hillary, Bill, stop enabling this jerky boy.

Hillary in 2012, all the way Baby!!!!

  • Lochos Vestu

Obama intends to take over everything you have you. One for all, all for ME (OBAMA).

The Obamites asked us to leave the party. Why are they now pestering us because we left the party?

  • JR

Did you observe all the neo-cons posing as Dems for Obama at pro-Obama blogs for the last few months…or was that too inconvenient a fascination for you?

  • Ferd McBerfle

Because HRC is qualified to be POTUS. My position has ALWAYS been that your master is both unfit and unqualified to be POTUS. And unlike you bots, I don’t follow Bill or Hillary blindly. They do what they have to do and I’ll vote for McCain.

Also, Obama’s experience is not that much less than Bill Clinton when you [sic] became president.

And you get stupid post of the year award for this silly-ass statement. Bill was a 3-term governor of Arkansas. That’s at least 12 more years governing than Obarky has. YOU TRY AGAIN, dumbass.

  • Chicago Joe

Dennis Miller on O’Reilly: Palin is inside Barack’s melon. The Democratic Party picked the wrong candidate. When HRC was on O’Reilly, she was formidable, and you don’t get that on Barack. Barack trying to co-opt the O’Reilly audience (my quote from earlier today….). HRC would have picked Obama and there would be no Palin.

Oh, please. Will you pick up a history book!

Bill Clinton was Attorney General of Arkansas then served as Governor for one term, lost one race and won a second term 4 years later and served in that office until he took the Presidency in 1992. For two terms in the White House, I might add. The first Democratic candidate to pull that off since FDR.

To try to compare Clinton’s executive experience to Obama’s is beyond belief.

And yes, I saw and heard Bill Clinton’s speech at the convention, where he proved himself the true Democrat that he’s always been.

The word generosity comes to mind. Not a word I’d expect Obama or his supporters to be familiar with.

  • Peggy Sue

Tennessee PUMA. Going to vote straight ticket Republican. I thought I would need to hold my nose to do this.

    No more.

The Democratic Party needs to be disinfected and hosed down. The Republican Party? I’m banking on John McCain to do that.

The DNC put pressure on her to leave the race. They’ve also put pressure on her to campaign for Senator Obama. The coercion they’ve used has been effective so far. At this point, if she ends up being Senator Obama’s running mate before November 4th, I won’t be stunned. Actually, I’m not sure there’s anything at this point in this race that could stun me anymore.

  • Kevin

cheated on his taxes, happens all the time

  • Kevin

hell, how many “potential vp nominees” said ‘not me’?

  • Monet

The Clintons’ relationship with Senator Biden is decades old. As far as I know, they are on friendly terms. Earlier in the year, Senator Biden praised Senator Clinton several times. Of course, he could have just been hoping for the vice president slot with her or a cabinet position if things had gone differently.

Anyway, I think we can take Senator Biden’s statement at face value. It is likely he meant it when he said she’s qualified to be president or vice president and possibly a better choice than him. Any ulterior motive we place on the statement is secondary.

  • mimi

The man in the audience who made the comment was an asshole and a sexist Hillary-hater. Attitudes like his are the reason Hillary is not the nominee. This is a male who can’t accept a woman in a position of power.

That comment about “all the things she’s done in the past.” What things????

After the Republicans expose 0bama, I hope the press finds this man and interviews him. I’d love to see the expression on his face.

  • sowsear

Biden would have to have major surgery or come down with sudden case of cancer, anything that would require that he step down immediately.
If Hillary were to step into the vp spot, I hope it would be because she knows something is about to burst which will destroy BO’s chances—other than McCain/Palin. The real October Surprise she mentioned in the spring??

  • street_parade

Whacko, if you think that BO’s remark was not aimed at Palin then you are very naive…his audience got was he was saying even if you did not. Oh BTW, how old is Bristol Palin, speaking of cruelty to a young girl.

  • street_parade

Actually, I wouldn’t because SHE would be winning this thing. BO is an AWFUL candidate. I can’t believe the Democrats threw this one away. But they did.

  • Ferd McBerfle

Yeah and Oblahblah got caught but, being the good coward he is, refused to man up. We don’t need his kind in the WH.

  • sowsear

Not that it matters at this point, but I don’t want BO as anything. He is an “arrogant, devious, divisive, untrustworthy & useless” politician of the Alinsky School of Treachery.

  • sowsear

BO has to have free concerts and food.

  • Zelda Crunch

How could a guy who could barely get 2,000 votes in the presidential primaries have anything to offer the Democratic ticket that would translate into getting voters excited enough to vote for the ticket?

Now I’m sure he was Ted Kennedy’s chauffeur. And once again it’s proof how a very qualified woman can be passed over for a very unqualified man.

We don’t know Hillary wasn’t asked. Some people say she wasn’t vetted. That might have been unnecessary. But it’s obvious that had she accepted the Dems would have had the election.

Which leads irrevocably to the conclusion it’s not just about winning the election for the Dems. What a sick bunch of assholes. Can you imagine what they’re going to write in the history books about 2008 and this election and Howard Dean, Nancy Pelosi. Donna Brazile, and Barry Soetoro?

  • llamajockey

Reid and Pelosi have proven to be disasters.

Who do you suggest to replace Reid ? Don’t tell me Chuck Schummer.

  • QUEENIE

    hey cock,.you are delusional..

What is wrong with Jim Webb? That 25+ years ago he had his doubts about limited combat roles for women. Ok, he was wrong then. Just like 60-75% of his fellow Americans.

comment by cockywacho said if Hillary was nominee they would be bringing up whitewater and all the things of her past. LET EM! KEN STARR SPENT MILLIONS TRYING TO CONVICT THEM AND COULDN’T PROVE ANYTHING, ALL TALK MY FRIEND, ALL TALK, LIES AND INUENDO. HILLARY SURVIVED IT BEFORE AND WOULD AGAIN.

I do hope she doesn’t step in as VP. Top only if Obama really loves HIS country, he will step down and let the most capable one run the country and learn from her and have a go at it 2016 perhaps after her two terms. Obama needs to admit he is not the stronger candidate.

With regard to the pig comment, yes he used and old saying to his advantage, knowing 1. it would get attention 2. already had clips of McCain and others saying the same thing. 3. He knew his audience would catch the double meaning against Sarah as her recent lipstick comment still on people’s minds and he knew he could defend himself with the old saying,
so he got his attention, had his cake and ate it too.

He is way to clever/smart not to haved intentionally planned to work that into the conversation. He even halfway covered his head in shame as he KNEW WHAT HE WAS SAYING would be taken the way it was despite his defense of old saying. Pretty slick.

  • Ani

    Amen to that.

    Clinton/Clark.

My gut tells me that’s what she originally wanted anyway.

  • lipstickonapig

i would have thought that Clinton/Clark till he made that dumb ass remark about McCain being a POW not qualifying for President. It really upset a lot of people.

  • DanO

I sense an Obama trap! What was previously not even considered by him, will now be “what he had planned all along of course”.

Once again.. I hope Hillary has the GRIT to realise that going for VP would be the worst possible decision, for women, for the Dems and for America.

  • DanO

    Hi Troll,

i DO share her values, and I’m not crazy about Palin, I am very pro-democratic process, and it’s not been carried out on the Democrat primaries.

It was a sorry day in American politics when Obama won the primaries.

  • Snickers

Hillary was asked in private right after the primaries. She turned him down. At least that has been circulating with people who are in “the know” for quite a while. I believe it was at Senator Feinstein’s home.

  • lisa in va

    Which quote? Link please?

On the night that Palin gave her acceptance speech, Rudy gave a speech & talked about Barry’s flip flopping & said that Biden should have gotten the VP offer in writing.

Visiting the mainstream political blog sites is like visiting the Borg. Myopic, politically self-important and boring.

No Quarter, while also very myopic and politically immature to boot, has also become combination of Nickelodeon and Sytaricon, a piece of performance art concocted by Lawrence Welk and Fellini on their first acid trip together.

    Utterly fascinating.

It’ll be a goddam shame if we ever get back to what Johnson really knows about.

  • http://www.despair.com/changewinds.html Smilin’ Jim

“Neocon” was an imprecise choice of words.

A amalgam of crypto fascists, reactionaries, faux feminists and whatever best described Martha Mitchell is more appropriate to my original intent.

Content notwithstanding, Johnson has done a splendid job of boosting his hit rate. A year ago you could gathered those who comment in a phone booth.
