The Ammo Box – Updated

With great humility and respect to all those who have ever lost life or limb, heart or soul, or any god given element of existence I humbly kneel before you and ask you to accept my gratitude to the sacrifices you made for us. I say this not just to our friends and family in the military. It is, today; time to remember our civilian heroes who are as much responsible for our safety as those who served with arms.

Thank you. Thank you all. Thank you firefighters, police, paramedics and volunteers. If you could see us now you would see our arms crossed with hands cupped upon our shoulders and head bowed to you. Bless you. God bless you all.

Why are we sitting on the ammo box?

Sitting on the Ammo Box

Folks keep asking about the whitey tape. Why has there only been one 527 Ayers ad, some ask. Where is the RezkoEstate ad and why are we not hearing GD, along with I’ve never been proud of America?

Chill.

Do not one of the doubters here read the excellent articles by Larry Johnson on when and if anything will be used on Obama. If the dirt is not needed, then it won’t be used.

UPDATE:
I feel a need to step in here and clarify one important issue. Nobody I have talked to in any level of the GOP ranks believes that either of the 100/80/50 scenarios will happen. It is just comforting to know that there is a discussion going on there that considers honor and civility.

I took what I have heard to mean simply that it was discussed, a plan was formulated, but there is no belief that this race will be anything but tight. So take that thought as you read the rest of this post.

And, in advance I will warn those reading this now, you will find some who very much disagree. I stand by my belief that we – citizens – all loose if we end up hating each other when this election is done.

I have it on good and direct authority that, if McCain’s internals show a 100 ECV (Electoral College Vote) lead, that is solid, then nothing will be used. 80 EC votes and some will surface. 50 and a little more will be used. If the mid to late October polls are close then they most likely pull out the stopper and, by the nature of modern American politics, all decorum will go down the drain. When I say good authority I mean it. I worked almost as many GOP campaigns as I have Democrat. Many of the operatives are my friends. Some are not. I met last month with one who was involved with something in 2004 that it has taken me until recently to forgive. I will never forget what the SBVFT did but, considering what I have seen from Kerry lately, I am ready to forgive them for acting upon their beliefs.

I am an independent, so take this at my word, or accept it as my opinion. I think that most of our national leaders are true Americans – Republican and Democrat alike. If victory can be achieved without destroying the public perception of the valuable institute of the presidency then they have no desire to engage in actions that may inflict lasting wounds upon the American spirit by throwing firebombs into the other camp after all the tents have burned. As a matter of fact they all are very practical and know that the less scorched earth they create the less retribution they, as the victor, have to offer to the slain, after all the battles are fought, in order to bring the leaders of the other camp into a coalition conference for bettering our nation. Country first is a deeply felt concept that does not belong to one side or the other.

That’s what this is all about. Bettering our nation. I, for one, do not think we are living in such a bad country. Every four years campaigns concentrate on how awful a state the existing administration or congress has put us in. Can we do better as a nation? Yes. Are we as horrible as the campaigns tell us we are? Are we uncaring for the poor? Are we killers of corporations? Are we as dysfunctional as the ad-ministers make us out to be? My answer to that is a resounding no.

I am perhaps more than slightly upset about the treatment Sarah Palin is getting today. I think the attacks are even more despicable than those we observed during the mistreatment rituals that sacrificed the spirit of Hillary Clinton earlier this year. Four months ago I would not have thought that there could ever be behavior more vile than that seen by the Hillary detractors. I was wrong. Anyone who has read my snippets before knows that I have a bunch of sisters. I become upset when any woman is treated with disrespect. It’s a brother thing. I know the treatment of Sarah Palin is disrespectful only for political gamming. But that does not excuse the actions of those participating in the mud throwing and the virtual tossing of her into the pit of sinners to be stoned.

But. My anger does not give me any more right to stone them than their fear gave them the right to hurt her. As a matter of fact, we are all above “throwing stones.”

We have a good country here because we are the ones who own this country, and we are good people. Sarah Palin played basketball in high school. I played football. I remember that during the traditional handshakes after each game I would look for the guy I spent the game facing and shake his hand and, many times, share a quick hug. Our battle on the field was over. I carry the memory of those Friday nights with me when I win or loose a contract or even when my candidate wins or looses. But there is one example, that I learned from this campaign, that will be my model for forgiveness.

Shake hands after it’s over

John McCain went to North Vietnam, shook the hands of the people who represented his worst nightmares and his family found the strength to forgive and even to love.

We are in a battle for what we all believe to be the best course for our country. I hope that, no matter what is said, we all can, by January 2009, be this (see Cindy above) magnanimous toward our “enemies.”

Our battle today, on the political field, using our right to insert our political and philosophical beliefs into the functional operations of our democratically elected government, was won by those who did not ask the one beside them about their political beliefs. Let us honor them and live today in..

Peace.

Mr HUSSEIN OBAMA AND HIS ASSOCIATES WILL BE JAILED SOON.

By: KEITH PHUCAS, Times Herald Staff

WHITEMARSH – In a society criticized for being too litigious, lawsuits filed by local maverick attorney Philip Berg rank as some of the most sensational.

In the past decade, Berg challenged the results of the 2000 presidential election, sued the Bush administration in 2004 for alleged complicity in the Sept. 11 attacks and filed a suit recently claiming that Sen. Barack Obama is not really a U.S. citizen.

After the U.S. Supreme Court’s election decision, the Lafayette Hill lawyer demanded that three Supreme Court justices be disbarred for alleged conflict of interest.

Several counts in the Sept. 11 lawsuit were eventually dismissed, Berg said, and the plaintiff, William Rodriguez, eventually withdrew the suit.

But the 64-year-old’s legal challenge to Sen. Obama’s birth records is currently percolating across the Internet blogosphere and has generated near 8 million hits on the attorney’s Internet site, http://www.obamacrimes.com, he said during an interview Friday.

He has received about $2,500 in donations to help support the legal action.

Berg, a former Pennsylvania deputy attorney general and Montgomery County Democratic Party chairman, was prepared for an onslaught of e-mail messages and phone calls attacking him. However, the opposite has occurred.

“I’m totally amazed by the positive responses we’re getting,” he said.

His office received more than 600 phone calls after the public got wind of the suit, and he’s been interviewed on about a dozen radio talk shows.

Though the litigation has its adherents, many readers posting comments at The Times Herald’s web site, http://www.timesherald.com, were flabbergasted.

Berg is called a “Nutbar Supreme” in the Screw Loose Change blog that dubbed him the winner of its “Who the biggest kook in 9-11 Denial?” contest.

Berg filed a motion in federal court for a temporary restraining order Aug. 21 asking a judge to bar the Illinois senator from continuing his presidential run until he shows a complete “vault version” of his 1961 Hawaii birth certificate.

Things would go a lot better if our parties would stop flipping our votes.

In 2000, the voters of America chose Al Gore, but the Republicans had someone else in mind.

In 2004, we tried once again to get a Democrat in there. But once again, the Republicans had a better idea than democracy.

So we got eight years of The Worst President Ever™ and are now teetering on the brink of the Second Great Depression. Well done, Republicans!

This year, we voted for Hillary, but once again, the count went bad. We are now virtually guaranteed a rotten President for the next four years…

Until this is fixed, America is not a democracy at all, but some sort of giant banana republic.

I think Obama will do what ever it takes and the consequences be damned. We saw him do it to Hillary in the primaries. He and the Cheetoh brigade haven’t found a level so low that they won’t stoop to it to achieve their ends.

Forgive me there, Easton, but your friends seem a bit… phlegmatic to me.

“We’ll fritter away the ninth and tenth rounds, but if we’re not ahead in the eleventh and twelfth we’ll pummel him mercilessly.”

I have a little news for these guys. McCain is not safely ahead by a hundred electoral votes, or eighty electoral votes, or fifty electoral votes.

If he manages to waste enough time, though, he might just join his pal John Kerry in the almost-presidential losers club. Sounds great for those who enjoy wind surfing, Swiss chalets and perhaps a multimillion dollar book deal.

A little more ammo perhaps. Below is a link showing that once again Obama is lying.

He claimed that the bill he supported to teach comprehensive sex education to kindergarten kids was designed to protect them from pedaphiles. Read the bill, there is not a single mention of this in it.

If you go by the letter of the bill, it would appear to require that kindergarten children be instructed on, the use of condoms and other contraception and prevention of HIV and STDs in “an age appropriate way”

BERG FILES MOTION FOR EXPEDITED DISCOVERY, SEEKS DEPOSITION OF BARACK OBAMA AND HOWARD DEAN BY END OF MONTH

At 8:55 this evening, and as promised weeks ago, Philip Berg filed a Motion for Extensive and Expedited Discovery in the Philadelphia federal court where, a little more than two weeks ago, he filed suit contesting Illinois Sen. Barack Obama’s constitutional eligibility for the presidency.

Per this evening’s motion, Berg is seeking results on two fronts: First, that Sen. Obama and DNC Chair Howard Dean sit for depositions at the courthouse in Philadelphia running no less than three hours in length and presided over by a court-appointed Special Master; and second, that the defendants–Obama, the DNC and the Federal Election Commission–turn over documentation connected with the vetting process and the background of the Democratic Party nominee. Upon receiving confirmation that Obama and the DNC have been served with the motion–the U.S. Attorney’s office has entered appearance on behalf of the FEC–Berg plans to petition the Hon. R. Barclay Surrick for an immediate telephone conference on the need for the discovery process to begin and move along as quickly as possible.

“In the interest of expediency,” Berg said over the telephone as he drove to a air freight depot near Philadelphia International Airport to ensure that the materials were sent to Obama and the DNC as soon as possible, “back when we had the hearing for the temporary restraining order, I asked Judge Surrick if we could have a conference call for expedited discovery, and he said yes. This needs to be handled quickly. Listen, more and more I believe we’re correct on this, and if we are then Obama cannot be president, and the United States of America will be headed toward a constitutional crisis.”

    DEPOSITIONS

Berg is asking for a court order that Barack Obama and Howard Dean each submit to a deposition at the Federal Courthouse in Philadelphia, a “neutral location,” and that the depositions (1) must be no less than three hours in length, (2) must be presided over by a court-appointed Special Master, and (3) must be undertaken by September 31, 2008.

When I pointed out to Berg that there are only 30 days in September, he chuckled–he sounded embarrassed–and responded by saying that “mistakes happen” and that “well, I guess I’ve created an extra day in September just like Obama created an extra seven states in our country.” While the gaffe is certainly unfortunate for someone looking to overcome credibility questions like Berg, as far as I know the worst thing for his case which could come of it would be a defendant’s filing of a Rule 12(e) Motion for More Definite Statement pointing out any defects or ambiguous parts in Berg’s motion. Theoretically, if Berg did not respond within 10 days with a corrected motion, the court could technically strike today’s pleading altogether. Still, it’s doubtful.

To me, the most interesting aspect of the deposition portion of Berg’s pleading is the request for a Special Master. If Berg’s motivation is truly one of time, he made his point here. Should the court grant the motion and depositions go forth, the Special Master, appointed by the court to preside over the proceedings, could avoid the endless need to go straight to the judge with every objection, question and procedural hiccup raised and manifested by overzealous attorneys on both sides of the table. As an added bonus, the appointment of a Special Master could provide needed perceived distance for the Hon. R. Barclay Surrick, himself appointed to the federal bench by President Bill Clinton, from this delicate part of the process.

    DISCOVERY

If Berg’s Motion for Extensive and Expedited Discovery, filed today, were granted, Barack Obama would be ordered to turn over the following items within ten days of the order:

A “Genuine Certified Copy” of his “vault version” of his Birth Certificate.
Any and all certificates or other registrations of birth from Canada, Kenya, the British Isles and the United States in the name of Barack Hussein Obama, Barry Soetoro, and others.

A “Certified Copy” of the U.S. Oath of Allegiance required to be taken in order to regain any U.S. Citizenship status.
Any and all passport records including applications and travel logs connected with passports issued to Obama–or any previously used names–in Indonesia, Kenya, the United States and more.
Any and all adoption records, including records detailing the adoption of Obama by his presumed Indonesian stepfather, Lolo Soetoro, as well as his grandparents, the Dunhams.

A copy of his FBI background check used in the vetting process.
A copy of the “vault” version of his Birth Certificate from Kenya.
Any and all applications for a social security number and replacement social security cards.
Any and all applications and court documents detailing a name change.
Within 20 days of the court order, should the motion be granted, Berg is also seeking other records which would provide a window into Barack Obama’s past, including but not limited to college applications and records from Occidental College, Harvard and Harvard Law School, Columbia University, the University of Chicago and any other schools to which Obama applied, as well as any applications for college grants and loans, copies of any college thesis papers or other essays written which could shed light on his life, background, heritage and childhood.

The request for these items, as well as requests for Obama’s baptismal records, listings of memberships to all clubs and organizations, copies of his Selective Service Registration and any Harvard Law Review articles he penned, made me wonder if Berg was seizing an opportunity to use discovery–should the civil action go so far–to really fill in some gaps in Obama’s background. Surely, I wasn’t the only one who questioned why no long-term acquaintances other than his wife, Michelle, has ever come forth to talk about Barack, tell stories about Barack, praise Barack or even criticize Barack like we see with so many other political candidates.

“We’ve decided that there is more to this individual than meets the eye,” said Berg. “From passports to essays to transcripts to financial aid, we’re going for all records because this is the presidency we are talking about and this man is still a total mystery.”

As far as I am concerned, I am still leery of many of the allegations put forth in Philip Berg’s suit. Surely, Barack Obama could not have gotten this far without having to present more certain identification than a Hawaiian Certificate of Live Birth which looks as though it was printed on a laser printer and fails to show such basic information as the name of the hospital in which he was born and maybe even how much he weighed on that day in early August of 1961. While the recent iteration of the certificate may have been fine for a passport application or something along those lines, certainly he must have shown more definitive documentation during his rise toward the status of political legend.

Regardless, I cannot help but wonder why Obama and his campaign officials have remained so silent on the issue or, at the very least, haven’t moved to dismiss the case altogether. Even if he didn’t want the court to look at any evidence, as required under a Rule 12(b)(6) defense for instance, why hasn’t he just moved for summary judgment? Certainly his political machine, with a budget of more than $12 million each month, could have squashed this little insurrection without breaking a sweat.

Personally, the silence makes me curious. For Philip Berg, however, the silence inspires confidence.

“We want a vault copy of his Birth Certificate certified by the Vital Statistics Bureau in Hawaii, and I don’t know that he has it,” Berg said. “If I’m off base here, if we’re so wrong on this, he would have had his spokesperson come up with some statement maybe not mentioning me by name, but referencing an attorney filing suit and threatening that attorney with a defamation suit if the case wasn’t withdrawn within 24 hours. They have this well-oiled machine but there’s been nothing from it.”

Take heart…the Dem’s did NO OPPOSITION research on Palin…and she was on the list of possible VP pics…… so they can handle TERRORISM???

The Pub’s who live and die by Opposition research knew nothing of what the D’s were going to do, have PICTURES taken in July of all 3 Dem’s currently up under Palin’s hood(troopergate), going into an OBAMA campaign headquarters.

So the Pub’s were this careful in JULY. The Dem’s are in Alaska in SEPTEMBER.

Who can prepare us for the next four years?? The Pub’s .

I am not saying I agree with the “game plan” as it has been told to me. And we should have no doubt that the McCain camp is going to be anything less than aggressive and not at all unemotionally sluggish from this day forward. However. If you might believe that selecting the wrong president will mean the death of this country, I respectfully disagree. I remember hearing a boxing coach tell a young stud that continuing to focus blows upon the cut he made over the eye of his opponent may win him a decision but it will hurt the sport. Whenever possible, play fair and be honorable.

Wow! Although the says that instruction should be developmentally appropriate it explicitly says that any couse must include instructions about preventing STD’s/HIV! Also that abstinence should be included in all courses. Imagine doing that with kindergarteners.

While this may not be the intent of the bill, I once saw a report on a local suburban school district that taught 4th graders how to put condoms on a cucumber so I wouldn’t rule it out. (Needless to say the parents were not happy.)

I can understand that in neighborhoods where children are regularly exposed to prostitution, etc. and kids become sexually active very early this kind of instruction needs to begin pretty early, but no kindergartener is cognitively or emotionally developed enough for any instruction about STD’s or even abstinence. Did Obama agree with this bill or did he just not read it? (And is this the final wording?)

Bizarre. I can’t wait for the media to fact check this. There will be ice skating in hell.

Can’t we all just get along? BS. I can’t picture, (myself), shaking hands with anti American symphathizers. Turning the other cheek is alright if there are good solid grounds for reconcilliation such as misunderstaning or misinterpretaion. But turning the other cheek just so Obama can get a better shot at it? Hell no.

  • roseeriter

As Americans we have a right to EXPECT all future POTUS to be vetted properly, qualified beyond appearance, and have the intent to do what is best for the People of THIS country First.

I have seen none of these FAIR expectations met by Obama.

I agree that the Republicans of the last 8 years were rotten, stinking and dirty. But Bush is not running for President anymore and as the Osmonds sang once, “one bad apple don’t spoil the whole bunch”. I think we’re missing the point of this post. People should not define a candidate by whether they have an R or a D next to their name.

Obama’s remark “Lipstick on a Pig”, gaff or calculated?
Only if you believe Barrack Obama is a gifted orator who knows how to play to an audience would you be offended by a remark that seemingly jabs Sarah Palin? You would also have to know the street use of this term, analogous to putting a paper bag over a woman’s head before sexual intercourse.

  • dixie

Someone once made a speech about playing fair, saying, “you have heard it said, it isn’t about winning, it is about how you play the game”. To this the guy added, “whoever made that statement doesn’t know anything about football.” LOL! Seems to me that choosing our next president is a hell of a lot more important than football. I think we have the right to at least know who the other side is and no holds barred in finding out.

Yep, and in the Islamic world inferring someone is a pig is just about the most detestible remark a man or woman can make about another person.

  • wodiej

good post if I don’t agree w all of it. Good analogy of the McCain strategy and it has logic. The person who doesn’t play nice always ends up looking the worst.

Obama is not a typical opponent. He is very dangerous and I don’t see bringing up petty trash on someone just to win. But when it is for the benefit and safety of this country and it’s citizens, I say yes, pull the stops out. Obama and Axelrod are playing dirty and to win. They are most assuredly going to try to cheat at the polls in November although no caucuses will make that more difficult. I am personally going to volunteer at my polling place to make sure guidelines are followed.

My gratitude to all who have fought, served and died for us. Today is the anniversary of 9/11.

    Exactly, Mr. Mike.

“I think that most of our national leaders are true Americans – Republican and Democrat alike. Too bad Obama did not practice this philosophy in the primary campaign against Hillary. He ran a scorched earth campaign and has been reaping the consequences ever since. His arrogance and lack of experience in the political battleground is highlighted even more when looked at in light of what you have written here Estan.

    Great post.

Benjamin Franklin, for me, nailed it when he said that we had a Republic…if we could keep it. That requires work, and diligence, and perserverance. Resting on one’s laurels won’t cut it.

We are a self governing nation, and as such, the experiment that was given to us, in my humble opinion, is precious. And worth fighting for.

One thing I remember about the horrific Swift Boat campaign against Sen. Kerry, was Sen. McCain speaking out against it all. Sen. Kerry should have been the one to speak up and denounce those frauds. See, we sit out here in all our homes, across this great nation, and we would like to see some backbone in the people who are asking to represent us. I have been known to stand up for myself, on more than one occasion, and I have been willing to serve my country, as well, risking life, limb, and liberty (meaning I’m a Viet Nam Era Veteran).

This isn’t some game to me, it’s about our collective well being. And other nations have gone down in flames…don’t think that can’t ever happen again, and that it’s inconceivable that it could happen to the United States of America.

Sen. Obama is not some young kid, who’s just come from the ‘hood, he’s a 47 year old man, and he does have a past. And we have the right to know who he is, where he comes from, and what he’s done. The things that I’ve seen (thanks to this and other blogs), I’ve not liked, and I don’t think it’s in our best interest to “make nice” about it all.

  • I Will Remember in November

It might be because it is 9/11 and I am pissed that my kids have to live in a post 9/11 world but this post is full of “let us all get along” crap!

Because the so called “democratic leadership” (oxymoron) decided , who knows when, obama was going to be the demo nominee and used every dirty trick in the book to make it happen-I am now a registered independent. Did I mention that the dirty tricks were used against a fellow democratic and the dirtest trick of all was used against us the democratic voters? NOT COUNTING OUR VOTES! How quaint? Now, after all this mess is over we are just suppose to shake hands and allow the dnc to move forward as usual- not going to happen.

If i am in a fist fight and all of a sudden the other guy pulls out a machete and whacks my arms off and afterwards says “good fight” and wants to shake my hands- but he cant because he just whacked them off-I am not going to be so incline to be his new best bud.

Now i am not naive. I believe after all this is all over (and most likely while this whole political mess is going on) all the politicans-obama,clinton,biden,nancy,dean (maybe not sarah-yet)- are all laughing it up and having dinner and cocktails together. But we the american voters we dont get those privileges we dont get no interest on mortgages or no points or low interest rates, we dont get our own 747 with our names blazen across them, we dont get mansions, speeching fees and book royalties, we dont get invited to the corresponce dinners (well maybe the PINOs), we dont get fawned over like we can cure cancer and heal the sick. We just vote PERIOD.

This is exactly what I’ve been thinking how it will work out. McCain wants to take the high road for as long as possible…right now, the Obama campaign is shooting itself in the foot everyday…that has to play out before any of the GOP’s big ammo has to be touched…

  • JM08

I agree with a previous poster at no point is McCains internals going to show him with a safe 100 or 80 ev vote advantage. That is as much wishful thinking, as the kooks on kos have when they talk about flipping Utah and Oklahoma.

Waiting till late October also makes no sense, considering early voting starts in early October, and we all know what a difference early voting can make in a state that is polling very close.

My belief is that when you have your opponet down. You do not let him back up, but you keep kicking him while he is down.

And based on the ad released by McCain recently that points out bambi wants to teach sex ed to 5 year olds, I doubt McCain will take it easy on him, and leave bullets in the holster.

Not to mention the 527′s which have the most viscious ads planned, are not obligated to not run ads based on McCains internals, and if you think these 527′s will listen to McCain to stop your crazy.

I know. In the movies we see the bad guy get up after being killed five times and still grab the ankle of the hero and we think why did the good guy not just cut the other guy’s head off when he had the chance. Yes, McCain could go into the last week with a 20 point lead and be hit with some BS that will take him down. Anything that late would be just that – BS, and the country won’t buy it. My H.O.

When I heard the Dems had no opposition research on Palin a couple of weeks ago, I was SHOCKED! Hell, someone had posted about her to my blog a few months ago and I then began watching for her name. In fact, the day the VP announcement was announced I told my mother it was going to be Palin, or I was going to eat my hat…esp. because of what had happened to Hillary at the Convention. It was an “I told you so” moment for me…and I’m sure for many others!

If someone like me could put two and two together, it’s absolutely bizarre that the Democratic “leadership” didn’t have anything in the hopper on Palin….but then again, look at how clueless they’ve been all along…

If the Republicans have dirt on Obama, they make a big mistake by not releasing it NOW.

We are a unique society, we Americans.
We love rivalries. We start within our only family. If one is lucky enough to have siblings then we get our first taste of competition built right into our most dynamic infrastructure.
We compete in schools with our classmates, and as we get older we compete against other schools in athletic, and academic competitions. These rivalries are what make us strive to be our personal best.
I grew up in the south, a child of parents who hailed from the Midwest. They were considered Yankees, in my home state of Georgia, and for the first fourteen years of my life, we were still some of the “new people”. I, to this day, consider myself to be a southerner. I married a man from PA., and I have lived the majority of my life in Northern VA., the divide between the north and the south is perhaps not as large as it used to be, but it still exists. Yet, seven years ago, on this day, there were no rivalries in the U.S. among her citizens. We were truly one country, and we were all Americans. For that moment in time, and for months after, we didn’t look at each other as Democrat or Republican, blue collar/white collar, northerner/southerner, Baptist/Catholic, Black or White. We were, for the first time in my lifetime, the closest I had ever seen us to being the United States.
I certainly would never want another Terrorist attack to take place upon our shores, but I wish that we were able, as Americans, to see more of ourselves reflected in each other. I believe it’s there: in the person we work with, live next door to, or oppose on a playing field.
Political contests can turn friends…and family members, into bitter enemies. Unfortunately, it does even more damage if we don’t know the people who oppose us, or if they happen to be somewhat different than we are. Then we let our political perspective truly cloud our vision, and a bitterness and deep-seated hatred can take hold.
We forget ourselves. We forget that we’re really on the same team. We are Americans first. We all love our families, and we are proud of our little piece of inhabited space that we claim in this great country. We would fight for these things, indeed, we would die for these things.
I think the above Article was a great piece, and it helped at least me, to remember, if only for one day, that today we honor in our thoughts and prayers, not only the Americans who lost their lives, quite tragically, but all of the Sacrifice that all American Military Troops, and their families have given to us so that we might sleep safer each night.
To honor all of the lives lost, or injured, in fact, all of those who have served and still proudly wear a uniform that bears an American flag on it, I implore all of the NQ readers to Thank someone today. For one day, try not to look at the people in this country as Red or Blue, just see them as Americans first, and try to respect what they believe. We all are in this to better our country, and in fact, the world that we live in. Come November 5th, we will either be Winners or Losers, we should try to get past it as quickly as possible, and roll up our sleeves, in American fashion, and work hard to hold these leaders to their promises of Change and Hope and Bipartisan spirit. If we continue to allow the three arms of our Leadership to war against each other, four years from now we will still face an energy crisis, there will still be uninsured or underinsured Americans, our schools will be in worse shape, and we will still be fighting wars on foreign soil…and quite possibly on our own soil, as well. We have to look for what is right about each others ideas instead of always searching for what is wrong.
    America First.

The McCain/Palin organization has shown impeccable timing and amazingly rapid response. They will release what they have on Zerobama at just the right times. I’m sure they have a tentative schedule already, which they will fine tune according to events and polls.

You know what they say about an opponent who is destroying himself: leave him alone. Believe me, John McCain, the RAM, and the 527′s are not going to sit idly by and let Bobo get anywhere near the Oval Office. Why distract from his compulsive trashing of women when he’s got everyone from little old ladies to late-night comedians carrying on about pigs? The GOP still has Ayers stomping the flag and the Born Alive Infant Act to skewer Bobo with. Today, I received an online petition concerning Oprah refusing to have Palin on her show. I read in “The Case Against Barack Obama” that he raised over 600K for Robert Byrd online and, when he had the deal sealed against Alan Keyes, campaigned for candidates in other states. I wouldn’t doubt if this sleaze had John Edwards blackmailed into supporting him. (Elizabeth looked none too pleased as she and hubby exited that event!) Bobo thinks he can just laugh everything off. Well, that works with O-bots, but who else? Take the sex ed bill for ex. Does anyone think the Repubs would be dumb or careless enough to create an ad about it if BO could simply show that it involved touching of children? The October Surprise is called that for a purpose. The closer the election, the more people are paying attention–and the less time, of course, the recipient has to excuse the accusation.

  • beebop

I remember it too. It was such a humbling time. We held doors for each other. We hugged strangers. It was so humane. That is why it is so important to have leaders who understand and love Americans. On all levels. And who believe that we can lift ourselves up.

  • QUEENIE

DPVEGAS..i could not agree with you more…Obama has built a semi army himself..of youth..and look who he has them turn against…

    moms..women and senior citizens..

where have most of the men in this country been?? ( don’t get me wrong, there are some men who have stood up and been counted..but the majority have not)

Where are our fathers and our sons??..are they just too busy to care…or has something else been tapped into by Obama..a fear of women getting any kind of power??

Obama has been disgusting and yet other women have helped in his ploy..by choosing to be ignorant as well..

Didn’t freaking Hitler do this as well??????????

After all, one of the groups that liked Hitler in the early part of his career were Jewish Rabbi’s..

    don’t believe me..see this..

and the youth were turned against Germany’s own people

Here we sit repeating some of the same things History could easily tell us..stop.stop it now..

McCain’s people are playing old politics..Obama has tunred that stuff on its ear..using the youth of this country..

Please tell Mccain’s people stop this now..old tactics will see him sitting home in Jan 09 and this nation finished as we have known her..

I saw these thugs in action in Iowa..

I saw them in SC..i saw one girl about 17-18 cheer for Obama on a street corner for 8 hours non stop all by herself….non stop..where about 50 adults were cheering across the street for Hillary and Edwards..and we all ran out of gas..and left and i drove by hours later and thisone girl by her self was still cheering after we adults went to a lovely dinner..and a reception..the girl was still cheering..this borders on obsessive maybe..

do not take as a joke this cult talk..those of us who were out in the filed for Hillary and Edwards know what we saw with our own eyes..cult is exactly what we saw..

we were the ones who coined them the Ipod kids..and the Pod Kids..starting in Iowa..

I saw these kids go right into the faces of people in an Iowa caucus..screaming in the faces of 70+ & – age women ..screaming uncontrollably..and i saw grown women go running out of a caucus..

In SC another woman and I were at a poll..doing visability for Edwards..in a very out area..and within 2 minutes of us arriving Obama had a team there..and they did all they could to out do us ..out banner and break voting laws….in no uncertain terms..and they broke the laws and rules..of the polling place and rules and laws be damned..we on the other hand were nice adults..we followed the rules ..

Do not think for a moment that rules matter to these folks..they don’t ..and what the hell gets done about the rule breakers the day after the election..nothing.

Sure there are hearings and all the flash..and documenting..the whole shabang..and bottom line..the votes don’t get restored.illegal votes get counted.. and nothing gets done to these people or their campaigns.

In hindsight ..since this was so early in the elections..we didn’t realize there was going to be a pattern..that is why they mixed it up..first caucus’s then the SC election..throw off any chance anyone would have early on establishing facts of a pattern..

By the time Texas was rolling around..many of us who were in Iowa ..and NH..and then Nevada ..had begun talking and realized a pattern was taking place..

Many were actually Edwards people and many attorney’s..( i am not) ..and it BECAME VERY CLEAR TO MANY OF US WHAT WAS HAPPENING..BUT IT WAS LATE ALREADY IN THE ELECTION..BUT MANY OF US
DID NOTIFY HILLARY’S TEAM HOW THEY DID IT.. How they cheated…

But team Hillary didn’t really have time to counter act it the way they needed to..yes they scrambled..to try to counter act it..but the numbers they needed at that point to protect the caucus’s was already out of control..with the numbers Obama has prepared.

I still call this ..Howard Deans 50 state strategy..steal as many as you can..and don’t look back..and don’t hold anyone who cheats accountable..in fact help them cheat..in everyway Dean can.

McCain needs to destroy Obama now..he needs to put all the pins in the balloon now..he can not afford to wait..as it will be he who goes down with his balloon ..if he doesn’t.

Past election strategy’s …with this team Obama will not work.

They let the opponent think they are ahead and when that opponent gets ahead, even a couple days before the election..that is when team Obama goes into real action, and by then it is too late for the opponent to recover.

McCain needs to finish this guy off when he is ahead..not if he goes or ends up on defence..

Understand this..Obama is being run by the new world order people..the stakes could not be higher for them..

This is not a game..they plan to win.

And they are using our kids to win…and they will continue to do so..they have conditioned them to..and they have conditioned many in the Dem party to only see republicans as the bad guys..we have been conditioned for 8 years this way..perfect way to finish off the new world order eh?? Make us become what we have loathed for 8 years or more..

Some of us get it..in fact i would say our insticts and our guts have told us so..but many will be late to the dance, when it is too late for our nation.

Please Team McCain..if you read here..do not wait..if you do ..we all will lose.

Good post, especially the point about holding fire until the right moment. We saw what “Shock and Awe” does, gives some gripping ratings and a long-term headache. And, McCain probably would like to restore some honor to his party. However, there’s also no point in letting a taunt go unanswered if it can be turned against the taunter, and the Dems have just been throwing out taunt points like crazy. I think there’s a sweet point of jab-jab-jab or drip-drip-drip that is effective without seeming too brutal.

I agree that the full force of the attack ads will only be released if it becomes necessary. Kicking someone when they are down could have the opposite effect if it piles on. Obama could garner sympathy.

For McCain to have turned his campaign completely around I would say that they know what they are doing. That said, I don’t think either candidate will have a 50 point lead anytime soon. It will be quite unprescedented for the attack ads to go after Sarah and not the presidential nominee but it looks like the D’s have all guns loaded with sites aimed in her direction.

You forget that the candidates in 2000 and 2004 were quite swift in accepting the preliminary results of the elections and conceded to Bush the elections. They conceded and we heard it from their mouth. So those arguments are not valid. Why did they conceded? For the sake of the country’s unity. They did not fight to the bitter end for unity. For unity, Hillary conceded too. And ultimately did a 180 by nominating Obama by acclamation. Unity, unity, unity. Unity is what Obama and McCain will be displaying today by appearing together at Ground Zero. Unity.

For the sake of unity, the most valuable principles of democracy are forsaken – to count the votes all the way to the last one.

Then you have the meme that the wheels of justice turn slowly. That’s another one. As justice is delayed, justice is denied. The country has abandoned justice for the sake of unity under the banner of delays. Why? Because as justice is delayed, animosity switches off and the results, even if unjust, will be more readily accepted. We have abandoned the concept of a speedy trial. Why? Also for the sake of social harmony. And then that is the result. We have social harmony and unity as a country, when justice and truth is put to rest.

Speaking of Hillary and McCain, how about Hillary for Attorney General in the McCain administration.

It would send an extremely strong message of bi-partisanship and reform if McCain chose her for AG.

She could team up with McCain and Palin to go after corrupt Democrats and Republicans.

It would also send the message, that unlike Bush, McCain does not consider himself above the law and wants an independent AG, who serves the people, to keep him and his adminstration accountable.

Maybe after a few years as AG, she could take over Homeland Security, and then have perhaps one of the strongest resumes ever for a presidential candidate in either 2012 or 2016.

  • http://nobho.blogspot.com/ Johnny at Work

Kerry’s 2004 concession was swift, in spite of the appearance of voting irregularities in Ohio.

Gore’s 2000 concession took a month, as he rightly contested the Florida vote count. That election has not been conceeded by the Democrats to this date.

Good article Eastan. The press has a vested interest in keeping the electorate divided and close to even. The so called ‘opinion polls’ main purpose is to inform the press of changes in viewership attitudes. Then they change their delivery accordingly. If a candidate is loosing acceptance they adjust their delivery to counter that. The more even the races the higher the viewership. They call that ‘interest.’ They say people are interested in the races. But what it really promotes is viewership and readership. That translates in ratings, higher advertising dollars, higher salaries for the industry. So the press, the MSM as you like to call it, is simply a money machine, an economic industry, a means to an end, profit and higher salaries. In the name of that, truth and competition for ideas are sacrificed.

  • Sassy

    Eastan,
That is a very thought provoking post.
Many of your sincere desires I agree with, but some I don’t.
Would we all wish for civility in our process? Of course!
However, the “officer and gentleman” approach is past history!
Does that mean we go on a “search and destroy” mission? Only if necessary!
We have too much at stake in this election to be reticient in using “factual” information!
Senator McCain should use it! Early and often!

  • Above My Pay Grade

Yep, that is the way they are reporting it (except for Sean Hannity).

The lazy, Obamaphiles in the MSM simply took Barry at his word, when the text of the bill is readily available online.

The truth will get out through the blogs, to some extent.

I would love to see McCain, at one of the debates, place the text of the bill in front of Zerobama and ask him to please read the American people the passage about protecting kids from pedaphiles.

Or maybe it would be better for Palin to do it to Biden.

Not to be oppositional, but those countries that provide sex education PRIOR to puberty have the lowest teen pregnancy rates.

I’m always amazed at how as a society we are so comfortable in the face of violence, something we hope our children never encounter — yet every single human being is going to be sexual as a natural course of life.

We prepare our children for a stranger who wants to do then sexual harm but we don’t want to teach them about abstinence, birth control and consequences.

I didn’t wait for the State to teach my children all they needed to know about sex that one afternoon in October. And I am not leaving it to “Tommy,” the kid who lives with his dad and watches porn whenever he wants to show my children how to apply a condom — I doubt Tommy graduated from Potty Training School.

I have been teaching my children honestly and at their age level all along. To me any objection to educating young children correctly about their own sexuality is as much false modesty as a woman who covers herself from head to toe as a symbol of value or humility.

    When value and humility is expressed by how you look on the outside, you detach yourself from the responsibility of such. For just as easy to be virtuous while covered, it is just as easy to shrug off such virtue when it is not connected to who you are. {expressing a personal opinion only}

And if your worth is connected to who you truly are, it matters next to nothing other than God what any man should think of us.

Anyway, I Love, Love , Love that Marc thinks it is sooo Wrong, Wrong , Wrong for women to support Sarah Palin because she is a woman, and she is a woman just like us – working hard and raising a family at the same time. Shocking! It’s okay for 90% of AA’s to support Obama – and seriously, how much like most AA’s in America are Meechellle and Obambi? But 90% of AA’s are supporting Obama because of racism, but Marc Fisher has the nerve to yell about sexism and women supporting the wrong woman for the wrong reasons. Let me get this straight – Hillary was the wrong woman. Sarah Palin is the wrong woman. Who would be the right woman? My guess is the sexist DNC and old boys club would say NONE! Women, we have the power to put a woman in the White House. 90% of woman voting for Sarah will win this election! Don’t let these sexist idiots tell you Obamabi will save you and your families. I also know many women dems who will not tell their hubby they are not voting for Obama because they don’t need the grief and they will not tella pollster that if hubby is around to hear. I do think there are many people who have a creepy feeling about Obama, but there friends or families are all about him so they are just keeping peace and will vote McCain in private. We just don’t know truth in election 2008. Don’t bet on a sure thing. Do the vetting and let America decide. What are we afraid of that people will be afraid of electing Hitler Jr., but then not vote for McCain? Who else would they vote for? I am not as afraid of anyone as I am Obama. If McCain is a true Hero, I expect nothing less than him exposing a fraud and fighting corruption. Same with Hillary. If she allows this election to go all the way without exposing what she knows, then she loses my support completely. Anyone who knows the truth of this fraud and withholds information should be prosecuted on terrorism charges. How dare any person or party be willing to risk the safety of America on this fraud. He is only one man. I don’t know why we need to feel we need to protect him from himself! Question, if Charles Manson had been running for office when he were arrested, should we have just hoped for the fact that he was creepy and wouldn’t get elected? No people need and deserve to know the truth! If we don’t care about the truths of people running for office, then why even have laws. Let’s just do a free for all. No punishments for any crimes because someone’s feelings could get hurt! Geezus! If Obama has been this big of a fraud he should not be a Senator either. Why do we care if his feelings get hurt? Where did all this bleeding heart carp come from over protecting our country? If the truth won;t come out now, then when will it? If he is not exposed then are we willing to do this again the next time some nut case is running for POTUS. No, we need to show people like Bin Laden that we are not stupid over here and you cannot fool us with a fake citizen. If Obama has nothing to hide, then he should not mind defending all the rumors. We have horsecrap leaders in this country if there is not one who is willing to sacrifice themselves to protect America!

The writer of this blog is FULL OF CRAPPOLA, just O’Crapola.

The McCain campaign is already rightly going after Oblahblah with Oblahblah’s own history.

The voting public is going to be reminded about ALL of Obamas past just often enough so it is not forgotten.

“Frankly, I think Reverend Wright was correct when he says he’s just doing what politicians do,” Fred Thompson said of Obama as he introduced McCain to a Northern Virginia audience. “That’s not the kind of change this country needs.”

And, McCain has a new ad about Obambi’s education accomplishments.

The sex education ad referred to legislation Obama voted for — but did not sponsor — in the Illinois Senate that allowed school boards to develop “age-appropriate” sex education courses at all levels. Kindergarten teachers were given the approval to teach about appropriate and inappropriate touching to combat molestation.

The McCain advertisement calls it “Obama’s one accomplishment” in education: “legislation to teach comprehensive sex education to kindergartners.”

“Learning about sex before learning to read? Barack Obama, wrong on education, wrong for your family,” the ad concludes.

We will not hear nonstop about any of Obama’s ugly past. We will hear about it just often enough, in ads and from surrogates so it won’t be forgotten come Nov 4th.

Obama is not being “Swiftboated”. He his getting the “Death by 1000 Cuts” treatment. It’s just as lethal.

Are there really any permanent lines?

I would have thought, and by their arrogant actions the DNC agreed, that there was a permanent line for Democratic women. And I am a 64 year old Democratic woman who will be voting Republican and beyond that hoping for the total humiliation of the Democratic Party in Nov. I am with Donna Brazile this far: I am willing to destroy the Democratic Party in order to save it.

That’s the way I see it after McCain draftet Palin. They may face each other or not but I believe Hillary would be an extremely powerful Senator with 18 million votes to back her up. If she campaigns for Obama, she throws that away. The more she campaigns the more she diminishes herself.

Look, that is the basic assumption most people would have, right? Trust in the “process” of party vetting, right? But, in the context of this entire primary process, in which serious allegations of caucus fraud have been extensively documented–and completely ignored by the party–credibility is clearly an issue.

Open your mind and consider the possibility that there really was no serious vetting of these questions. Obama’s origins, family history, multiple nationalities of father-figures, possible adoption by Soetoro, and his mother’s age at the time of his birth, which puts his citizenship in doubt, regardless of birthplace, raise questions. The American people have the right to have answers to those questions at a CONSTITUTIONAL level. Berg is seeking answers via this lawsuit. And, Obama should consider that if these questions are not answered, they will remain to taint his legitimacy even further. It would be a national nightmare of historic proportions to discover the answers too late–the blowback against the party would be a tsunami. So, Obama and the DNC should get out in front of this right now, before it engulfs them.

THE AYERS/OBAMA TIMELINE: (Version 1.0; a work in progress; dates are approximate)

1987 William Ayers meets Barack Obama

1988 Ayers solicits Khalid Al-Mansour to raise money for Obama’s Harvard law School education

1989 Tom Ayers and William Ayers get Obama a summer job at Sidley & Austin (where he meets Michelle Obama); Ayers’ wife Bernadine Dohrn also worked at Sidley at about the same time as Barack and Michelle.

1993 Ayers places Obama on Woods Foundation

1995 Ayers makes Obama Chairman of Annenberg Challenge

1995 Ayers hosts a coffee klatch for Obama’s political debut (Obama falsely claims this is when he met Ayers)

2007-2008 The structure of Obama’s presidential campaign increasingly comes to resemble an Ayers-designed national “community organizer matrix” straight out of Maoist theory. This is not merely a presidential “campaign.” Obama’s organization is the first installment of an ongoing movement being paid for with tax-exempt contributions to his campaign, approaching half a billion dollars.

2008 Obama In response to ABC News, Obama tells a national TV audience he was “six years old” when Ayers bombed federal buildings, and they are only casual neighborhood acquaintances. A lie.

Even though we have finally started piecing the puzzle together, we continue to investigate. For example, where in Chicago did Barack Obama live in 1985-1988? Help if you have an address.

  • C.S.

A democracy is not built on lies or by covering up those lies, or dirty political tricks, or secret political deals. Read our Declaration of Independence, our bill of Rights, our Constitution.

Nowhere in it will you find justification for what has happened during the last decade. And nowhere in it will you find an article or an amendment granting any political party Constitutional status.

They are not a part of the election process as outlined in our Constitution and when they usurp the authority of the States as they did by disenfranchising Florida and Michigan voters they have stepped beyond the bounds of Constitutional election regulations into a no man’s land of controversy. And the results is this flawed 2008 election.

These parties may consist of mostly good men but then the question is why can’t these good men stop the evil that has been done in their party’s name? You do not stop a cancer by ignoring it. You cut it out. And, if we intend to keep electing our presidents through a political party process, we must cut out these cancerous growths that control the political body to such an extent that its leadership can seize the votes of other candidates to shore up their flagging choice. That is not democracy and that is not the Constitutional way.

We often talk about honoring those our government sends to die for our freedom but we seldom connect that sacrifice with the keystone of our Democracy that represents free and honest elections. This election year, The Democratic party has dishonored those sacrifices and their manipulation of our freedom to choose should not be forgotten because the 2008 election is over regardless of who “wins”.

And please don’t forget that among those civilian sacrifices on this day 7 years ago, that 40 passengers and crew members aboard Flight 93 made the decision to stop 4 terrorists from controlling that airplane and chose to die their way fighting for their country in a field in Pennsylvania to keep our nation’s capitol safe.

Shaking hands with the opponent at the end of the 4th quarter promotes good sportsmanship, and is a lovely sentiment as noted by many comments here.

How about shaking hands at the start of the 4th quarter? Has anyone ever witnessed that tactic?

That would be the strategy of an appeaser who would meet with heads of terrorist states without preconditions.

Shake hands before the game ends. Everybody wins no matter the score. Everyone gets a trophy so no ones self esteem is hurt.

Don’t worry. The McCain campaign knows the game is not over ’till it’s over. They are going to keep Oblahblah’s ugly past fresh in everyones mind.

We just won’t be bombarded 24/7 with every Obambi indiscretion. There’s no need.

  • Karen

See, I knew that this would turn into a mudslinging act. And people were acting like they were so shocked and hurt that everyone was descending on Alaska to find some dirt on Sarah Palin. Let’s not pretend that we want to talk about the issues when every other comment I hear people asking when the MSM is going to give Obama his just desserts. McCain/Palin know that the issues don’t matter, judging by the statement from his manager, and if Obama doesn’t know, he’d better learn. This election is degenerating into a popularity contest of ‘which candidate would I like to have a beer with,’ which means we’ll probably end up with another idiot who doesn’t listen to the American people. I never felt like I could have a beer with Hillary, but that’s not what I wanted in a president anyway. I wanted someone smart and tough, who could lead this country out of the mess we’re in. The minute the mud starts flying our views of the issues become obscured, and it’s not until after the election that we see what a big mistake we made (and how we were duped). Someone’s going to be eating crow next November (once we’re seen what the new prez can do), and I don’t think us normal Americans are going to be laughing about it.

Oblahblah & Company really are the second coming of Dubya & Company.

  • Eastan McNeal

  • No Obama for me

    Eastan,

I totally agree with the premise of your article.
    It is just plain stupid.

  • Heather

It is so disingenuous for anyone on the Obama side to be lecturing McCain/Palin about ignoring the issues, when Obama’s entire campaign has been based on creating a rock star image around vague promises of ‘hope’ and ‘change’. And when someone asks him an issue-based question he dismisses them with a “go read about it on my web site.”

  • http://nobho.blogspot.com/ Johnny at Work

If Oblahblah really wanted to debate issues, he would have met with McCain in the 10 Town Hall debates McCain invited him to.

Oblahblah is all about insults and slogans. He is deathly afraid of trying to defend his house of cards and flimsy campaign platform. It won’t stand under the wind of real scruitiny.

So, Oblahblah prefers to stay in his cocoon of twin teleprompters, where nothing is questioned, and all is happy in his own little world.

McCain picks specifics to criticize Oblahblah. Like the recent ad about Oblahblah’s support for sex ed for 5 year olds.

Oblahblah can only generalize about McCain. “He’ll give you more of the same, He’s just like Bush”, cries the Oblahblah.

Oblahblah can’t use specific’s to support these claims. We all know that McCain strongly disagreed with Bush’s conduct in the Iraq war and tactics going after Al Qaeda. We all know how McCain fought with Bush over taxes.

Oblahblah himself sounds more like Bush every day.

McCain will alway’s be McCain. The Maverick.

There is a difference between hating, and letting the public have the facts and history about a candidate for POTUS.

The subculture in the Dem party that pushed Oblahblah into the limelight is going to hate and riot no matter if he wins or loses, no matter what McCain does or does not do.

  • Newly Independent

For the sake of the country’s unity. They did not fight to the bitter end for unity. For unity, Hillary conceded too. And ultimately did a 180 by nominating Obama by acclamation. Unity, unity, unity. Unity is what Obama and McCain will be displaying today by appearing together at Ground Zero. Unity.

Unity ONLY works when good unites together. And everybody ain’t good. When good unites with bad – NOTHING works. Unity just for unity’s sake is not good.

The “good” Democrats support the “bad” Democrats for the sake of “unity.” But very little good is coming from that “unity.” In this instance, Hillary (good candidate) uniting with Obama (bad candidate) and the corrupt Democrats in the party will not yield virtually ANY good results. Why? It’s obvious. The Democrats have lost the general election. And the next four years of the White House. Which means that there MUST be a predominately Democrat Congress in place for political balance. But the majority of them are just as corrupt as Obama – as was proven this election year!

If – by some miracle – Obama does manage to win the general election, we have STILL lost. Because Obama’s a BAD CANDIDATE! And God help us if he gets a Democrat Congress. The good Congressional Democrats will be outnumbered by the bad ones. But the bad ones are still Democrats. So the good Democrats will cooperate with the bad ones against the Republicans in the name of “unity.” And they will finish tearing up America.

In essence, unity with the wrong people is NOT GOOD.

  • sproutingly

I think the point being brought out is that there are just so many negatives involved with “going negative” that they won’t bring out the big guns unless they have to. My hunch is that it will be necessary because this race is going to be tight. When the do go negative they will risk looking bad to many people. It will be bad for the country as a whole. And on a very pragmatic note the number of favors they will have to bestow on the vanquished is in direct proportion to the degree of negativity they engage in. But from this posting they seem to be thinking they still have time to be effective if they have to go negative in mid October. At any rate, it seems they will wait until the last conceivable moment since there are so many downsides to it.

McCain is actually working this beautifully he has Obama on the run. While Obama is trying to find dirt on Palin, McCain is waiting; he knows what he has in his arsenal. Do you have kids? The vast majority of five, six, and seven year olds simply are too young to handle this sort of information. BTW, under this Illinois bill, other items deemed necessary to teach such children included: touching your sexual parts can feel good, the normality of same sex partners, etc., things that most parents believe they should teach their children when their children are ready, and providing individual instruction on such things as moral concerns, religious values, and self-esteem issues.

Obama wants a nanny state from cradle to grave – very marxist.

  • LindaA1

The McCain campaign knows the value of “measured responses.” Knee jerk reactions, undisciplined defensiveness, snarky retorts – these kinds of things are what an inexperienced politician does…and Barack Obama is falling right into the trap the GOP has set for him.

Hillary warned the DNC that Obama would not be able to navigate the GOP attack machine. My guess is that she and Bill privately share a lot of “I told them so” these days.

It’s all a strategy. Hit the opponent with a series of measured attacks and keep him off message and on the defense. Keep the attacks tamped down at first, gradually amp them up as needed, pull back when expedient, watch Obama twist in the wind and gradually implode.

There are a lot of calls to throw the whole arsenal at Obama right now. That would be foolish. First, it would be obvious and would backfire on the GOP – voters would see that as too negative.

The GOP has this attack thing down to a science – witness the last few elections. We should all just stand back and watch the show.

I don’t believe for one minute that the GOP is holding back the biggest guns (unless they really need them) for the sake of civility or unity in the country. They hold back because a measured strategy works better. And in this election, I am thrilled with their expertise.

    HILLARY SUPPORTER VOTING MCCAIN-PALIN.

  • Karma

Sorry, but I also have to disagree with the original author.

The subversion of democracy that occured in MI and FL with the manipulation by the DNC is much worse than a joke.

The convention saw a continuation of that subversion and rest of the large states that voted for Hillary experienced the theft of their votes as well.

While the orignal author makes a good point about not wanting to damage the other side too badly. The actions of the DNC to install Obama makes all of that a moot point.

The Constitutional right to vote is more important than making sure Obama, DNC, and their supporter’s feelings are ok after committing an egregious fraud upon the people.

People can turn away from what was done but I won’t forget how the DNC and Obama campaign negated my vote not once but TWICE this year alone.

Granted the author was discussing tactics, but I think with past elections in mind, not the full reality of this one.

For the argument to stand you would have to convince me that people like Obama, Ayers, Rezko, Soros, etc have the best interests of the US in mind.

That is something no one can do.

  • McCain is Bush

Did the dems exploit the 9/11 tragedy for partisan gain by showing the images on the big screen during their national convention?

Nope. The REPUBLICANS did that, didn’t they?

George W. Bush politically exploited 9/11 throughout his first term of office. He drew on our patriotism and our natural impulse to rally together in times of national national danger, and used them to launch his damn invasion of Iraq, which had been on the drawing board long before 9/11 even happened. He convinced us by encouraging our fears and by feeding us deliberate lies. He relied on the same strategy to win his reelection in 2004.

Have you noticed how the War in Iraq has been rehabilited in recent months? Iraq is largely kept out of the news, except where the point can be made that The surge was successful. Successful? We’ve become a successful occuping army, holding our ground and restoring a reasonable degree of order at the point of a gun–at an ungoing cost of $10 billion a month. So, we’ve got to maintain that status for how many years before John McCain decides to declare it a victory?

Sarah Palin’s son deploys to Iraq today, 9/11. What an astonishing coincidence. I’m sure the date was entirely coincidental. I mean, no one would use their influence down along the chain of command just for the sake of useful political symbolism, would they? That would be entirely too obvious.

The damage inflicted upon America on 9/11 didn’t end with 9/11, did it? It was compounded by George W. Bush and the republican party. That attack was transformed into the totally unnecessary invasion of a totally uninvolved country, at a cost of 4,155 more American lives and $553 billion borrowed dollars. Add to that the Bush tax cuts and other crack-brain republican domestic policies, and you’ve got a United States teetering on the brink of total economic ruin. Most Americans have no idea how dangerously close that point is getting.

So, Thank you, Mr. Bush! Your policies have not only failed to bring Osama bin Laden to justice–they’ve brought him within striking distance of actually defeating the once-greatest economic power on planet earth! To show our sincere appreciation for this amazing feat, we’ll elect John McCain, who will continue all of those same policies on to their conclusion.

I agree they are experts in the measured responses.

The Reps are flirting with his weaknesses and winning on these lightweight attacks.

They will ramp it up as Obama does….it is called an October Surprise for a reason.

They know Obama’s play book after watching the primaries.

With a much faster news cycle this election, to roll the big guns out too early, would give him a chance to recover/play victim.

Pssst….Zbig, Obama’s advisor, actually trained the mujahideen to defeat the superpower USSR.

So if you are looking for someone to save you from that mess….Zbig/Obama isn’t The One.

Since defeating Russia is still on his list of things to do.

But really…..you keep telling yourself Obama has our best interests in mind.

While the rest of us look at his district in Chicago, his advisors, his money men, and know the truth of the matter.

I think, though, that McCain has to be very careful of stuff backfiring on him. If the whitey tape is used, it can’t be brought out by McCain. It will have to be one of the 527s, and McCain will have to jump in quickly distance himself from it, or it could backfire on him as one of the dirtiest political tricks ever played.

  • McCain is Bush

Honor and Republican are mutually exclusive terms, if the tone of the republican presidential campaign is any indication.

Let’s simplify the proposition presented in the article above down to a concise statement:

We’ll splatter only as much sh-t on our opponent as it takes to conceal his actual identity and the policy he’s attempting to present; we’ll splatter no more than that, to minimize the sullying our own pristine, flag-draped images.

How about a focused discussion of policy and issues, Mr. McCain? If yours are truly better for America why don’t you think you can beat Obama on those?

    Country First, remember?

  • McCain is Bush

If you can’t see the truth of the matter after staring it squarely in the face for 8 long years, there’s probably very little I can say that will show it to you.

McCain is the guy who’s gonna launch a new cold war with Russia. Jesus on a bicycle! Don’t you watch the news or listen to what he says? His top foreign affairs advisor has been a paid registered agent for the Republic of Georgia, and is on the board of Project for a New American Century. They’ve laid out their entire agenda concerning Russia, just like they laid out their entire agenda concerning the invasion of Iraq a year before 9/11 even happened. What more do you need?

To my suprise I recently heard that Gore was given the option of a county recount or whole state recount in FL. He chose the county and as it turns out there were other problems in other counties of the state that were in his favor. He actually won. And by more than originally thought. What a dumb thing to do not choosing to recount the whole state.

Bought my kids hamsters. (They breed like crazy and fit down the toilet.)

Lots of opportunity to discuss where the little hamsters come from.

Along with being educated about reproduction, kids should also be taught to swim well and be given a basic firearms safety course. (I don’t want my kids to learn about firearms from TV or their friends.)

Where have I ever said that I was on Obama’s side? I voted for Hillary in the primaries. That’s why I said that it wasn’t important that I didn’t feel like I could have a beer with her. I’m an independent voter, and I’ll pick whoever I feel matches my thoughts on the issues even if it’s Nader/Mckinney. If this election degenerates into a popularity contest and mudslinging rules the day, how will the American public ever know how Obama feels since you feel he’s never addressed the issues. I’d rather hear how McCain/Palin and Obama/Biden are going to solve the problems facing this country than the same old political dance we got in 2004.

  • McCain is Bush

Bush, btw, swore he’d bring Osama bin Laden to justice before the end of his first term. Then, during his reelection campaign, he swore he’d bring him to justice before the end of his second term. So now John McCain is running, and swearing he’ll “follow Osama bin Laden to the gates of hell” to bring him to justice.

Maybe the republicans shouldn’t swear so much.

    Or start delivering on promises.

Or at least do something that suggests they have an actual intention of doing so.

If we hadn’t transformed the War on Terror into The Invasion of Iraq, and had focused our early efforts in Afghanistan where they belonged, Osama probably wouldn’t be following the 2008 elections on television somewhere and smiling as McCain rises in the polls and the U.S. economy tanks.

  • Karen

Maybe he’ll always be McCain to you, but personally, I think he’s changed from the man he was in 2000 to the man he is now (and I know there are a lot of other people who’ve recognized that. The Daily Show even did a spoof on it.) Although I do still prefer him to Palin. If Obama insults, then that means he’s finally learned the fine art of being a politician. Why do you think Palin threw in all those swipes against Obama and the democrats in her speech? Why do you think both conventions were full of insults towards the other group? Politicians love insults and slogans. They’re easy for people to understand and remember.

Obama keeps playing the Bush card because he knows how much Americans dislike their current president, and it helps him that the guy he’s running against is part of that hated president’s party. It’s no secret that even some members of the GOP are trying to distance themselves from Bush. If Obama is as bad at debates as you say and his policy is that flimsy, then McCain should have kept the pressure on him to debate. To be honest, I’m not even sure if McCain is better than Obama at debates. He’s let some crazy stuff fly out of his mouth when he’s not being scripted. And Palin doesn’t appear to be much better with her flub on Fannie and Freddie. Politicians always sound better when their speech writers are the ones talking. McCain, Palin, and Obama are no different or better than each other in that aspect.

  • ziggy

It seems to be on McCain’s to do list. How much is that military build-up going to cost the American taxpayers? We’re beyond flat busted already, remember?

One of the problems with McCain supporters is that they can’t do basic arithmetic and don’t understand basic economics. Kind of like John McCain himself.

Actually the PNAC laid out the agenda about Iraq long before Sept 2000. They tried to get President Clinton to invade in the 90s.

Don’t talk to me about failing to ‘see the truth of the matter’, because just like I knew Bush was lying about who he was before he was elected. ‘Humble foreign policy’…’no nation building’ bs while the family business had a bulls-eye on Iraq.

I know that Obama is lying about himself and his record. It is a shame you don’t know, while trying to claim some false ground as a political junkie with this information you posted.

Your whole argument is solely based on Dems are better than Reps, ignoring that those very Dems created al Qaeda due to a hard on for Russia.

You aren’t avoiding the war with Russia by electing Obama since they consider Zbig to be THEIR Osama bin Laden.

Wrap your brain around reality! Not the revisionist history version which allows people like Bush and Obama to be elected in the first place.

Osama bin Laden is dead. So Obama swearing he is going to hunt him down are bs promises too!

Really, if you are concerned about the War on Terror missing the effort in Afghanistan, then you should be voting for McCain. Since he stated that the effort in Afghanistan should be more coordinated between and NATO troops used more effectively a year before Obama did.

Obama, as usual, stole someone else’s position on something….and you clowns are falling for it again.

  • http://nobho.blogspot.com/ Johnny at Work

Judging from the number of Democrats supporting McCain, myself included, when he gets to the White House, he and Palin are not going to have any difficulty working with Dems.

There is no way that pointing out Obama’s failed past, poor judgement and questioable associations will change that.

The 30% of the Ultra partisan left wing Democratic Core would not work with McCain no matter what he said or did not say.

When McCain is POTUS, Hillary and Lieberman will be happily working with him, and the majority of others will follow that lead.

    edit…

‘should be more coordinated ‘between the commanders’ and NATO troop used more effectively’.

Riddle me this Batman…being ‘beyond flat out busted’ how exactly can we pay for Obama’s tax and spend ideas?

Only McCain has a deficit reduction plan…Obama admits he won’t focus on the deficit at all.

That sounds like someone who is trying to fully bankrupt the US.

While defense is one the major purposes of govt, Obama wants to kneecap it. Isn’t that actually committing treason for a CIC/President?

Especially when so many advances that benefit us on a day to day basis has come from military technology.

He lessens our defense capabilities and the economic benefit to the US through the slowing down of military technology and products it has created for the people.

Name an election isn’t a popularity contest with mudslinging!

You are setting up an impossible standard while claiming that the reason they don’t know about the solutions is due to the dirty politics.

No, the probelm is candidates like Obama who can’t stand hard questions to be asked of him by reporters or citizens. ‘I answered that in my book’ or ‘look at my website’ aren’t proper answers to policy questions while he rolls around in the games you decry stealing other candidate’s policies.

McCain often asks people who wear Obama shirts to speak at his town hall meetings. That is Presidential, and not running from the other candidate supporters or the policies they are interested in.

While Obama has never answered a difficult question in his life. It is always divert, deny, distract with him.

Haven’t read entire thread, so maybe this has been said — I think when someone is as corrupt and such a lying thug as O is, it is the duty of every patriotic, country-loving person who can to expose him for the fraud he is and remove him from politics altogether. jmho, of course.

Oh, you can take that as a given. It won’t be the McCain campaign that releases the tape, that goes after Ayers, Wright, Rezko, the Annenberg Challenge, the Born Alive Infant Protection Act, etc. It will be 527 groups.

Hear, hear. Also consider the calamity if the rest of the skeletons come clambering out of his closet after he’s elected president. Can you imagine the civil unrest if people challenged his authority after that? This is a case of damage control — bring everything to light before he is elected (God forbid!).

You are so right. Since Senator Obama supposedly wants to keep the focus on issues rather than personal attacks, I am struck this headline:

Obama Is Willing to Debate McCain at Town Halls This Summer
By Julianna Goldman and Nicholas Johnston

May 10 (Bloomberg) — Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama said he’d be willing to campaign jointly with Senator John McCain, the presumptive Republican nominee, and debate him in town-hall style formats.

“I think that’s a great idea,” Obama, 46, told reporters in Bend, Oregon, today as he campaigned ahead of the state’s May 20 primary. “Obviously we would have to think through the logistics on that, but to the extent that should I, should I be the nominee, if I have the opportunity to debate substantive issues before the voters with John McCain, that’s something that I am going to welcome.”

Obama, an Illinois senator, was responding to a question citing reports that McCain’s advisers have suggested the two should campaign together this summer, debating at town hall meetings without a moderator.

    ____________

It seems that, considering his eloquence, his ability to crisply articulate his policy positions and his natural ability to move a crowd when speaking without a script, this should be an easy way for the Senator to dismantle his opponent.

Oops, I just noticed the date on the by-line. Disregard, nothing to see here.

Nice try. I’ll keep looking for more evidence of change I can believe in.

You are so right, we need leaders who think America is horrible and whose wives duck out on memorial services for events that they think are well-deserved. ‘The chickens are coming home to roost’ Michelle.

Obama is just Bush from the other side of the spectrum. Read about his record and look past his rhetoric if you can. The DNC had their chance and if they are smart they can have a chance next time around.
