Barack Obama, Clueless with Authoritah
By Larry Johnson on June 18, 2010 at 8:55 PM in Current Affairs
Some folks have political tin ears. Texas Republican Congressman, Joe Barton, is a major example of this. That bozo’s apology to BP show a guy so out of touch with America’s sentiment toward BP that he ought to resign his position as the senior Republican overseeing energy matters. And then we have political deafness. Stone cold deaf. Doesn’t hear a thing and is completely clueless. I refer, of course, to Barack Obama. But he’s not deaf like Helen Keller. Heaven’s no. She was a genuinely good human being. Obama, by contrast, is a self-centered egotist. The appropriate comparison, in my view, is South Park’s own Cartman. If you are not familiar with Cartman, let me introduce you:
Respect his “AUTHORITAH.” Thanks to Jon Stewart it appears that I’m not the only one who sees Cartman in Barack Obama.
A couple of nights back Stewart teed off on the Holy One for his vacuous rhetoric and backtracking on firm campaign promises:

His promise of change and to do the exact opposite of Bush has been exposed. But it is not just here that Obama is displaying the that he is Stone Deaf.
Remember his repeated claim that his healthcare mandate was not a tax? In a back and forth with ABC’s George Stephanopoulus Barack insisted that his mandate was no tax:
OBAMA: No, but — but, George, you — you can’t just make up that language and decide that that’s called a tax increase. Any…
STEPHANOPOULOS: Here’s the…
OBAMA: What — what — if I — if I say that right now your premiums are going to be going up by 5 or 8 or 10 percent next year and you say well, that’s not a tax increase; but, on the other hand, if I say that I don’t want to have to pay for you not carrying coverage even after I give you tax credits that make it affordable, then…
STEPHANOPOULOS: I — I don’t think I’m making it up. Merriam Webster’s Dictionary: Tax — “a charge, usually of money, imposed by authority on persons or property for public purposes.”
OBAMA: George, the fact that you looked up Merriam’s Dictionary, the definition of tax increase, indicates to me that you’re stretching a little bit right now. Otherwise, you wouldn’t have gone to the dictionary to check on the definition.
But that was then. Now? Obama has completely reversed course. Phil Klein at the American Spectator reported yesterday:
Late last night, the Obama Department of Justice filed a motion to dismiss the Florida-based lawsuit against the health care law, arguing that the court lacks jurisdiction and that the State of Florida and fellow plaintiffs haven’t presented a claim for which the court can grant relief. To bolster its case, the DOJ cited the Anti-Injunction Act, which restricts courts from interfering with the government’s ability to collect taxes.
The Act, according to a DOJ memo supporting the motion to dismiss, says that “no suit for the purpose of restraining the assessment or collection of any tax shall be maintained in any court by any person, whether or not such person is the person against whom such tax was assessed.” The memo goes on to say that it makes no difference whether the disputed payment it is called a “tax” or “penalty,” because either way, it’s “assessed and collected in the same manner” by the Internal Revenue Service.
When more than 50% of Americans oppose the health care bill (and that was before this news came out) and the President insists that it enjoys popular support you are dealing with a Cartman.
Wait!! There is more. Obama and his clueless team (and yes, unfortunately, this also includes Hillary) are going to court to try to halt Arizona from upholding and enforcing U.S. Federal law. Per CBS News:
As Hotsheet reported yesterday, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said in a television interview in Ecuador this month that the Obama Justice Department “will be bringing a lawsuit” against the controversial Arizona immigration measure signed into law earlier this year.
The comment was striking because both President Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder had said only that the administration was considering a suit. Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer, who signed the law, called Clinton’s comments stunning and added that “to learn of this lawsuit through an Ecuadorean interview with the secretary of state is just outrageous.”
Ignoring the fact that almost 60% of Americans support Arizona. Ignoring the fact that the Arizona law does not permit profiling. Obama insists, like that little fat bastard Cartman that he has the “AUTHORITAH” to do what he wants simply because he wants to.
Obama’s behavior is alarming on so many levels. He is unable to sway the public with his turgid speeches. He is so politically awkward that he is out gladhanding atheletes while oil poors from BP’s blown well in the Gulf. He’s singing with Sir Paul McCartney while rebuffing the offers from other countries eager to send oil skimmers to the Gulf.
The icing on the cake? He and his buffoon Biden insist that they are creating jobs even though the latest statistics show just the opposite. Appearing at the Brookings Institute this week Biden declared:
Defending a costly plan to revitalize the economy, Vice President Joe Biden on Thursday said the government’s sweeping stimulus effort “is in fact working” despite steady Republican criticism and public skepticism.
“The recovery act has played a significant role in changing the trajectory of our economy, and changing the conversation in this country,” Biden said. “Instead of talking about the beginning of a depression, we are talking about the end of a recession.”
Nearly 200 days into the effort, Biden delivered an upbeat report card about the $787 billion rescue effort that President Barack Obama pushed through Congress. He quoted estimates by private analysts that the plan has created or saved 500,000 to 750,000 jobs so far. But many million people remain out of work.
The effectiveness of the two-year program is a matter of sharp political debate, and Biden sought to counter critics with a listing of tangible results.
“One of the criticisms is that it is simply a grab bag of different programs,” Biden said in a speech at The Brookings Institution. “But the fact that the recovery act is multifaceted doesn’t reflect a lack of design, it is the design.”
Biden’s claim coincides with the Obama shutdown of offshore deepwater drilling for six months. Guess what? That means job loss. But for Obama and his team, that is stimulus. Obama went on the road today to tout his stimulus plan. Guess what? MORE JOB LOSS AND WORKERS GETTING SCREWED:
Leave it to Bidento reinforce the metaphor of Obama as Cartman:
Take all of this together and there is no doubt, Obama is Cartman.
