Obama’s “Uncle” Wright Still Preaching The “Good News”

In the not-too-distant past, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright played an instrumental role in the spiritual life of Barack Obama. Yes, Obama sat in Wright’s church, TUCC, for over 20 years. They were close, with Obama going to Wright for spiritual guidance often. Obama even referred to Rev. Wright as an “uncle,” and claimed that his church was not a “particularly controversial one.”

Huh. More evidence that Obama is not really clear on the definition of “controversial.” In case you need a reminder of the kind of message preached by Rev. Wright, here are some “highlights”:

What a moving message of love and peace from the reverend, don’t you think? Naturally, once his comments came to light, Obama did what he does so well – throw people under the bus. Yep, he quickly disowned his “uncle.” But, don’t you worry – Wright still loves him his Barry no matter how much distance Barry puts between them. Ain’t love grand?

One might have thought that after Obama dissed Wright, and distanced himself from his church of 20+ years, maybe Wright would have faded into the past. If that’s what one thought, one would be wrong. Oh, no, he is still out there, as this piece by Maureen Callahan indicates, Obama’s Race-Rant Rev. Rages On:

[...] During a five-day seminar Wright taught last week in Chicago, he was back at it, claiming that whites and Jews are controlling the flow of worldwide information and oppressing blacks in Israel and America.

“White folk done took this country,” Wright said. “You’re in their home, and they’re gonna let you know it.”

The course, advertised as focusing on politics and public policy in South Africa and America, was taught in a small, ground-floor room at the Chicago Theological Seminary, where Wright’s voice echoed out an open window. The class was composed of about 15 to 20 students, mainly older African-American women who would arrive early and giddily linger during lunch breaks and after class, looking for the reverend’s attention. (The course cost a little over $1,000 if taken for college credit and $300 if taken without.)

Holy moley. That’s a pretty good chunk of change to be lectured with hate speech, isn’t it? Wow – who knew? Ahem. But this is just the beginning of Wright’s vitriol:

[...]“Not once in my conversations with him have I heard him talk about any ethnic group in derogatory terms, or treat whites with whom he interacted with anything but courtesy and respect,” Obama said.

Yet during this course — which was described as asking, “What is the response and public witness of persons of faith to ongoing developments in both countries?” — Wright made many statements about what he believes are the true aims of whites and Jews.

“You are not now, nor have you ever been, nor will you ever be a brother to white folk,” he said. “And if you do not realize that, you are in serious trouble.”

He cited the writings of Bill Jones — author of the book “Is God a White Racist?” — as proof that white people cannot be trusted. “Bill said, ‘They just killed four of their own at Kent State. They’ll step on you like a cockroach and keep on movin’, cause you not a brother to them.’ “

What the hell?? Where does Wright come off with this kind of incendiary speech? And WHY is he preaching this hate-filled rhetoric? What is he trying to accomplish with this?

One last little gem from the, er, “good” reverend:

[...]The civil-rights movement, Wright said, was never about racial equality: “It was always about becoming white . . . to master what [they] do.” Martin Luther King, he said, was misguided for advocating nonviolence among his people, “born in the oven of America.”

“We probably have more African-Americans who’ve been brainwashed than we have South Africans who’ve been brainwashed,” he said, and seemed to allude to President Obama twice: “Unfortunately, I got in trouble with a fella for saying this . . . All your commentaries are written by oppressors.” At the mention of Nation of Islam head Louis Farrakhan — whom Obama disavowed during the campaign — black leaders “go cuttin’ and duckin’,” he said. [...]

Well, Wright may have retired from TUCC – to his million dollar home, built by TUCC, in a predominantly white neighborhood, mind you – but it hasn’t stopped him from spreading his hate-mongering, racist tirades.

And our current president sat there for over twenty years listening to that rhetoric. Perhaps that explains Obama’s selection of an Attorney General who, after a biracial man was elected president, declared Americans “cowards” when it comes to discussions on race. Or maybe that explains why the Department of Justice
dropped the charges against the New Black Panthers who intimidated voters in Philadelphia without bothering to read the memoranda on the case first. Never mind that the attorney handling the case, J. Christian Adams, said it was as clear a case of voter intimidation as well as a violation of federal law as he had seen in his Department of Justice career, one he resigned over this case. And it sure explains Obama’s response to Israel and her prime minister.

Yep – I would say this explains a lot. Wouldn’t you?

**Condolences to the family and friends of Sen. Robert C. Byrd, the longest serving Congressperson, who passed away this morning at the age of 92. Sen. Byrd was a man I had admired, until the summer of 2008. Still, prior to that time, he did a lot of good for the country.

We, the People of the United States of America, demand that impeachment proceedings be initiatedBarack Obama: A Bill of Indictment

By Alan Caruba  Sunday, June 27, 2010

Oyez! Oyez! Oyez! All those with business before the court of public opinion will draw near. A bill of indictment has been issued for Barack Hussein Obama, President of the United States of America. It is a call for justice from the people of the United States who allege that he is engaged in the destruction of their nation.
For the court’s consideration, it is alleged:

Hate appears to be very profitable these days.  Talk about being stuck in the past.  The fact that anyone “pays” to hear this garbage defies reason.

But we’re not living in reasonable times. Good pickup, Amy.  Though Rev. Wright is about the last person I want to hear from.  And they call this . . . Christianity?

    Amazing.

  • Hadrianus

As much as I dislike Obama, I can’t find much to dispute with Rev Wrights assessment of the American governments treatment of the original inhabitants of this land, it’s historical enslavement of blacks, it’s disregard for human rights in Palestine over the claims of an invading European entity, it’s  widespread promulgation of murder, mayhem, constant and unremitting warfare, and planetary destruction in the name of profit—- at all.

  • Peggy Sue

Yes, so I guess our only recourse is to get on our knees, douse ourselves with gasoline and light a match.  Because afterall, we are the worst human beings in the history of mankind [particularly if we're white Americans or God forbid, Jewish] and the rest of the world is filled with love, human kindness and universal brotherhood.

What planet are you living on?  I’m still living on Earth.

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

Thanks, and you said it Peggy Sue – these are not reasonable times.

Just Me, I know, right?  Can you believe people pay that much to listen to this man?  But, yes, he has to keep his 10,400sf home going somehow, doesn’t he?  Blech.

Well, well Harry anus, that’s quite a history lesson you’ve given us. You should write a book about it because your interpretation of US history is of such insight and complexity that few scholars could dispute it. I would even consider buying a hard copy of the book based on the remote possibility that it would be longer than one page, the bigger the better, because I want you to be fully sated after I force feed it to you.

Hey people, stop flagging idiots like Hadrianus, let their stupidity be on display FOREVER! I understand flagging the gratuitously offensive stuff, but the harmlessly demented stuff is not only somewhat entertaining, it’s a reminder that there is still an army of cretinous shit heads out there that we’ll eventually have to deal with for us to have any chance of turning this country around. I’ve often told my children that I appreciate the type of person who has a pink Mohawk, facial piercings, tons of tats, and Goth apparel, because when they come to me looking for a job, they make my decision to hire them soooooo much easier.

O/T but thought you would appreciate this. Shows what Biden thinks of the “small people” A good post for you RRRAmy!

Biden calls custard shop manager a mildly profane name
Yes, the gaffe-prone vice president with the notoriously salty tongue did it again over the weekend during a visit to a custard shop in Glendale, Wis., with Sen. Russ Feingold (D-Wis.). After Biden asked what he owed for his tasty frozen treat, Kopp’s Frozen Custard manager Scott Borkin quipped, “Don’t worry, it’s on the house. … Lower our taxes and we’ll call it even.”
Biden initially brushed off Borkin’s comment — but then circled back to the manager and asked, “Why don’t you say something nice instead of being a smarta– all the time?” You can watch a report on the incident below (video courtesy of ABC News):

Valerie Plame’s Wilson outed miss-information.  People are going to question what our leadership is doing. HIV created? This has been said for years, and people may wonder because of the blankets given to American Indians infected with small pox, medical experimentations among the elite universities, unknown to both black and white people. If HIV was created, the people were short vision because many have died, white, black, Asian, rich and poor, the disease knows no social or race limitation.

Where Wright is extreme is feeling it is only ‘white people’ are doing wrongs.  Wright is not unlike many whites who feel all blacks are bad. Truth does hurt, the truth is in the days of slavery, people were abusive to anyone who was perceived was lower class, white, asian or black.  These are truths we need to face.  I am not so sure we have improved much today, the abuses are now often psychological and not so overt physical.

And the five Chinese nationals to Boston was a false flag, that is another truth.

Bill Clinton told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer that the U.S. should embrace global help with the oil disaster.

And in the next breath Bill tells Wolf that Obama has done more than people give him credit for. Typical Clinton.

But it was at least nice that Clinton acknowledged that there is much more that Obama can and should be doing, like accepting the help from other countries and getting the all of the skimmers in the US down in the Gulf.

Obobo has said that the skimmers elsewhere in the US can’t be sent to the Gulf because they might be needed elsewhere. James Carvelle are you hearing this? Clinton says there is plenty of help available but Obama is not using it.

However he is right about the Jews in Israel oppressing black people. The judges on the Israeli Idol are giving hard time to this African American, making her sing in Hebrew:

Wright was alive and presumably paying attention during the 1950s and 1960s when the civil rights movement was born and then grew into real, meaningful laws in spite of the murders, bombings and other horrible things done by the racists at the time.  Whenever there was a march or a voter registration drive (remember “Freedom Summer”), the one identifiable group of whites who always were there, bleeding and dying with black men, women and children were American Jews.  Wright lives today in a gated community in part because two American Jews, Andrew Goodman and Michael Schwerner, and their black co-worker, James Chaney, were willing to be lynched in Mississippi.

I haven’t heard that sort of nonsense in years. You sound like a fourth grader, mimicking pthers because you have no thought processes to call your own. I was incorrect–you aren’t an 8th-grade dropout but a fourth-grade reject. Heres’ a flag, btw.

did backtrack ever build the school in his grandmother’s village in Kenya?
I think one date night might go along way to upgrade the village school.

What did he do for the neighborhood he was supposed to represent?

He is the one claiming to be black, ignoring the white half, just what has he done for african-americans in this country. This is his chance, he does not seem to be taking it. Creating division between races is not helping.
It does not seem that 20 years in Wright’s church taught him to practice help thy neighbor.

Please note that in my comment, I did not say Rev. Wright.  I have learned that on NQ, there is only one “Rev.” and it ain’t him.

HelenK, Your nuns were a bit strident…ours told us to pray for an easy death (and we had no idea what they meant).

  • PortiaElizabeth

What a hypocrite! I guess the rev. forgot all about his extramarital affair with a white woman down in the lone star state a couple of years ago.

I’m always amused to read the latest pronunciations of the Rev. Wright. Even though it’s the same schtick he’s been doing for decades, the humor of it never gets old. People like him who preach hatred almost always fall under the weight of their own stupidity eventually. It’ll just be a case of giving him enough rope. My only fear is that when he finally does hang himself, he’ll scream he was lynched.

  • jbjd

PE, if what you are saying is true then, that would explain why he ‘hates’ white people.  ‘They’ made him do things he would not otherwise do.  (Been there; done that.)

  • AbigailAdams

Oh my, where to begin?  There’s so much to this.

    1) For anyone who wants to lash Wright’s TUCC to Christianity:  Boo, hiss.  It’s the lowest form of intellectual dishonesty to say that just because TUCC has the word “Christ” in its title, that church is representational of Christians or the Christian religion.  Go read something about black liberation theology, its roots and political/ideological impetus.  It’s as much a church as your local ACORN office.

    2)  It’s because of the revelation of Wright that I no longer trust Bill Moyers or PBS.  A week, 2 weeks(?) after Wright’s vids hit youtube, I eagerly awaited Moyers’ trusted views on such manifest hatred and instead he defended Wright; even saying that every black church he ever attended or knew of in the south had their very own version of Jeremiah Wright.  Moyers tried to normalize Wright’s shocking sermons and provide left-wing, journalistic cover for barry because he knew if the Wright stories got legs it could seriously damage barry’s campaign.

    3)  I consider TUCC to be a money-funneling, untaxed corporate entity that should be investigated by the IRS, for starters.  As should Wright.

    4) Here’s the “uncle” barry “didn’t know”, the screenshot of Wright’s endorsement of barry on his campaign website:  http://www.stentorian.com/Obama/obama_wright.jpg

…that quietly disappeared in the night.

This.  This is what the “New Democratic Coalition” of Reid, Pelosi, Brazille and Dean decided was a step up from 8 years of bushII.  Unbelievable.

AA, I, too, tossed BM for good after watching his ‘interview’ of RW.  No surprise they come from the same church.

  • AbigailAdams

Here’s my response to “The Very Reverend Jeremiah Wright” :

Excerpt from Charles Johnson’s “The End of the Black American Narrative”

“However, it is precisely because Farrakhan cannot progress beyond an oversimplified caricature of a story line for racial phenomena that the suddenly notorious Rev. Jeremiah Wright praises him, saying “His depth of analysis…when it comes to the racial ills of this nation is astounding and eye-opening,” and, “He brings a perspective that is helpful and honest.” Recently Wright called the Nation of Islam leader, “one of the most important voices in the 20th and 21st centur[ies].” I do not doubt that Wright and Farrakhan are men who have experienced the evil of racism and want to see the conditions of our people improve, or that both have records of community service. But it is the emotional attachment to a dated narrative, one leavened with the 1960s-era liberation theology of James Cone, that predictably leads Wright to proclaim that the U.S. government created the AIDS virus to destroy blacks (he invokes the old and proven, the ghastly Tuskegee syphilis experiment, in an effort to understand a new affliction devastating black people, and thus commits the logical fallacy known as misuse of analogy); that Jesus was “a black man”; and that the brains of blacks and whites operate differently. The former pastor of Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago has made these paranoid and irresponsible statements publicly again and again without offering the slightest shred of evidence for these claims. “A bunch of rants that aren’t grounded in truth””

    Do read the rest:  http://www.theamericanscholar.org/the-end-of-the-black-american-narrative/

However, Johnson doesn’t go far enough and lets barry off the hook by restating that barry didn’t agree with Wright’s rantings.

I am beyond 8th grade, but some here are still in the sand box.

  • lorac

I really wish some of the up and coming black leaders (politicians, journalists, political commentators) would call out people like Wright and Sharpton, call them out on their keeping blacks down in order to fill their own wallets.  They can make money by preaching hate.  I guess there’s not much of a market in telling the truth, pointing out how much better blacks are represented in all fields, moving into the middle class, and emphasizing that the audience can do so, too, by studying, working hard, etc.

I guess it would have to be a republican black leader, because more and more now I’m really seeing the dems as wanting to keep everyone down, so that we “need” them.  It would be such a happy day if a black leader got traction actually encouraging blacks and motivating them, instead of teaching hate and self-defeat.

Why don’t they get sick and tired of seeing themselves as victims, and call themselves for a black leader to rise up and speak to them about positive things instead of hate?

  • Peggy Sue

Now that made me laugh, candymarl.  “If you can’t dazzle ‘em with brilliance, baffle ‘em with bullsh*t.”

  • beyond_words

You know just last week I had a discussion with a young co-worker of mine about Pampers (*remember to whisper if you work for him somehow and critisize his policies* – NOT) and he had never heard of Rev.Wright.

I mentioned he should you-tube google his speeches sometime as they would “enlighten” him. I only mentioned that BO had attended that “church” for 20 years.

The next day he said he felt ashamed and shocked after watching them and was perplexed as to how the media didn’t trumpet this immediately and squash his candicacy instantly.

I filled him in on many of the things I learned here on NQ and said “welcome to the double standard.”

  • wodiej

There obviously is still a problem of racism in this country and it is coming from the side preaching about it.  There is no reason for people to not live a fulfilling life except by their lack of desire and own limitations they themselves set.

People become confused because everyone does not have the same desires, goals, capabilities.  Therefore everyone will never have the same amount of wealth or the same kind of life.

The point is, be happy in the corner of the world where God put you.  Because in the end, all that really matters is fulfilling a purpose and it sure ain’t about seeing how much wealth and material possessions you can get your hands onto.  It’s not about hate, anger, resentment and bitterness.  It’s about overcoming life’s treacherous and rocky roads and being stronger for it. It’s about being a blessing to others. And it’s about realizing that regardless of your gender, skin color etc.-sometimes LIFE JUST SUCKS.

no flag, just swat, Okay OA?

Although I must confess that leaving the garbage stinking up the place solves no useful purpose that I can see. Still I comply.

  • kenoshamarge

Ferd doesn’t swat Connie, I do.  I find it a better response than name-calling or other insults. Swatting gnats is easy, fun and let’s off steam. Mostly I used to just ignore the gnats but this is healthier as it relieves the almost overwhelming pressure caused by not calling someone with whom I have nothing in common a less than flattering epithet.

Immature? Perhaps. Perhaps as immature as going to a blog where the vast majority of people have nothing in common with you to rant, insult and otherwise leave trash lying around.

I don’t usually bother with nitwits like you. I’m sorry now that I wasted the time it took to type this response to you whine. I just didn’t want Ferd tarred with my brush, er swatter.

Piss off you whiny little twit. How’s that for immature?

  • kenoshamarge

Wright is far worse than a “shithead” IMO, although he is that too.

He is a racist. His hatred for “whitey” is just as apparent as any White Supremacist’s hatred for AA.

Racist is wrong and ugly and dangerous. Thus haters like Wright are as detrimental to our society as any White Supremacist. Wright just gets to do it wearing a “reverend’s robe” and under the guise of religion.

This man hasn’t changed nor will he. He is on a mission of victimization and their are many that “like” that mission and believe they are forever victims. Just like the White Supremacist like to blame minorities for all their flaws and failings.

Hate is hate and haters are haters and Wright has a bigger and wider audience than many of the White haters and certainly a larger degree of acceptance. After all, those awful, terrible white folks did do all those awful, terrible things. So we get to hate ALL of you and your children and their children and anyone with a white skin because some were bad.

I am not a racist. I don’t care about the damn color of some-one’s skin. Only a fool does. But some “fools” are more dangerous than others’ Wright, IMO is one of those.

And just wondering, how did the Obama’s sit in this hate-filled man’s church for 20 years without hearing this kind of rhetoric and if they didn’t agree, why would they stay. I believe that FLOTUS stayed because she was, and is, a true believer in Wright’s message. I believe POTUS stayed because she would have kicked his ass if he didn’t.

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

I believe you are refrring to “The Matrix.”  :)

Candymarl, you said it – I thought the GWB bunch was bad, but holy crappydoo, the responses from the Obama minions make the GWB people look like Peace Corps members (and remember to pronounce it “corpse,” in the manner demonstrated by Dear Leader).

  • Objective Analysis

Well,, I am glad you posted condolences to Sen. Byrd (Former Grand Wizard of the USofKKKA) as well as give a nice shout out to Racist Rev. Wright.

For 20 years, our Usurper heard this man spew this information.  Oprah who proclaimed Obama is the One (probably of Satan’s realm) stayed their for 3 years.  I guess they attended b/c they Rev. Wright was getting $15 Million in free money from the supposed racist U.S. Government.

Wright is no different than pimp Al Sharpton.  He is an apostate muslim and is in close alliance to Louis Farrakhan.  I guess the Usurper Obama is the same as Wright (i.e. apostate muslim).  No wonder they hate Jews.

Same as Hitler.  People forget, they hate Christians as well.

                    Obama’s Re-Election Promise

The promise of “a chicken in every pot and a car in every garage” can be traced to Hoover’s 1928 Presidential campaign.
Well, Obama has twisted these words and is promising that if he is re-elected there will be “a chick in every car and some pot in every garage!”
To see some forbidden views inside King Barack’s monarchy, Google “Obama Supports Public Depravity” and also Google “Obama…destined to become a black-slavery avenger.”
