My first thought when watching this interview was, "OMG, how patronizing Gibson is! I've never seen him be so condescending toward anyone!" And the look on his face, like he was completely disgusted with her, and this whole thing was such a come-down for him-- wow! I thought she did really well, considering all of the assorted emotional and time-pressure, etc. she was under (son leaving for Iraq, new to the national political scene). I thought she showed tremendous poise. She must have sensed Gibson's deprecating attitude... how could she not? With her schedule the last 2 weeks, she can't have crammed everything she answered, so must have come into this thing knowing lots to begin with. I'm rooting for her, big-time! I am a woman and I look up to strong women... but she came across as very nervous, and a bit desperate. Her lack of stumbling didn't hide that. She didn't even know what the "Bush Doctrine" was. I was very excited about this interview, but I was disappointed. I'm glad Gibson was tough with her, because I want any candidate to be put through the the gauntlet before I elect them. I don't see the point with Gibson being "nice" to Obama, because the two interviews were for totally different purposes. Gibson had already given Obama the tough questions in early 2008, as you note. He's been through primary debates and soon we will test him again in the general debates. Gibson's interview with Palin was her introduction to the country- the first chance, for most of us, to see what she believes and how she handles herself. I would want to ask her the very same questions. Every candidate should get that, and luckily with both "liberal" and "conservative" medias being out there, no one can escape it.
