“Disrespectful”

“Today, McCain-Palin 2008 released its latest television ad, entitled “Disrespectful.” The ad highlights the Obama campaign’s desperate efforts to attack and smear Governor Sarah Palin. Yet, despite all their tactics, Governor Palin is demonstrating time and again that she will be the strong vice president our country needs. The ad will air in key states.” – from McCain Press Release

Next, the script and the facts cited to back up each charge in the ad:

Script For “Disrespectful” (TV :30)

ANNCR: He was the world’s biggest celebrity, but his star’s fading.

So they lashed out at Sarah Palin.

Dismissed her as “good looking.”

That backfired, so they said she was doing, “what she was told.”

Then desperately called Sarah Palin a liar.

How disrespectful.

And how Governor Sarah Palin proves them wrong, every day.

JOHN MCCAIN: I’m John McCain and I approved this message.

AD FACTS: Script For “Disrespectful” (TV :30)

ANNCR: He was the world’s biggest celebrity, but his star’s fading. So they lashed out at Sarah Palin. Dismissed her as “good looking.”

· Joe Biden Said One Of The Differences Between Him And Governor Palin Was “She’s Good Looking.” “In his introduction of Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., just now on the rooftop of the Toledo Public Library, Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., commented on the pulchritude of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, Sen. John McCain’s newly-named running mate. … ‘From our perspective the whole deal is how does the government help you get back up without getting in the way?’ Biden asked. ‘There’s a gigantic — gigantic — difference between John McCain and Barack Obama, and between me and I suspect my vice presidential opponent. And that is that — ‘ The crowd laughed. ‘Well there’s obvious differences,’ Biden said, beginning to ham it up. ‘She’s good looking,’ he said, laughing. ‘You know there’s obvious differences. But there’s a whole lot — ‘” (Jake Tapper and Matt Jaffe, “Oh, That Joe! (Number 4 in a Series) — Biden on Difference Between Him And Palin: ‘She’s Good Looking’,” ABC News’ “Political Punch” Blog, http://blogs.abcnews.com, Posted 8/31/08)

ANNCR: That backfired, so they said she was doing, “what she was told.”

· Obama Chief Strategist David Axelrod: Governor Palin Did “What She Was Told.”
“My colleague Carrie Budoff Brown reports that David Axelrod spoke to reporters about Sarah Palin on the plane in Pennsylvania: Obama chief strategist David Axelrod said Gov. Sarah Palin is a ‘skilled politician’ who ‘had an assignment and she went out and she discharged it.’ … ‘Right down the line,’ he said. ‘She tried to attack Obama by saying he had no significant legislative accomplishments — maybe that’s what she was told — but she should talk to Sen. Lugar, talk to Sen. Coburn, talk to people across the aisle in Illinois where he passed dozens of major laws to expand health care reform welfare, reduce taxes on working families. So I think she had an assignment and she went out and she discharged it.’” (Ben Smith, “Axelrod On Palin,” Politico, 9/4/08)

ANNCR: Then desperately called Sarah Palin a liar. How disrespectful. And how Governor Sarah Palin proves them wrong, every day. JOHN MCCAIN: I’m John McCain and I approved this message.

· Obama Response Ad: Governor Palin “Lying” About Her Record. OBAMA AD: “They call themselves mavericks. Whoa. Truth is, they’re anything but. John McCain is hardly a maverick, when seven of his top campaign advisers are Washington lobbyists. He’s no maverick when he votes with Bush 90 percent of the time. And Sarah Palin’s no maverick either. She was for the Bridge to Nowhere before she was against it. Politicians lying about their records? You don’t call that maverick. You call it more of the same.” (Obama Response Ad, 9/8/08)

· Obama National Finance Committee Member Howard Gutman Questioned Whether Governor Palin Should Be Running Since She Has Five Children, Including A Child With Down Syndrome. “On the Laura Ingraham Radio show, Friday, attorney Howard Gutman — an original member of the national finance committee for Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill. — very directly criticized the parenting of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. … Gutman said the issue wasn’t one of gender, but one of parenting — regardless of the gender of the parent. ‘This has nothing to do with gender, whether Todd Palin was the nominee or Sarah Palin was the nominee,’ Gutman said. ‘If my daughter had just come home at 17 years old and said, ‘Mom, Dad, I’m pregnant, we have a family problem,’ I wouldn’t say, “You know what we’re going to do? We’re going to take this private family problem…and you know what I’m going to do? I’m going to go on the international stage and broadcast this to t he world.”‘ Gutman continued, ‘this wasn’t a working mother issue, this was a parent issue… The proper attack is not that a woman shouldn’t run for vice president with five kids, it’s that a parent, when they have a family in need, a Down’s baby who needs them — mother or father.’” (Jake Tapper, “Obama Campaign National Finance Committee Member Criticizes Palin’s Parenting,” ABC News’ “Political Punch” Blog, http://blogs.abcnews.com, Posted 9/5/08)

· Carol Fowler, The South Carolina Democratic Chairwoman, Said Governor’s Palin’s “Primary Qualification Seems To Be That She Hasn’t Had An Abortion.” “South Carolina Democratic chairwoman Carol Fowler sharply attacked Sarah Palin today, saying John McCain had chosen a running mate ‘whose primary qualification seems to be that she hasn’t had an abortion.’” (Jonathan Martin, “S.C. Dem Chair: Palin Primary Qualification Is She Hasn’t Had An Abortion,” Politico, http://www.politico.com, Posted 9/10/08)

· Obama Florida Co-Chair Representative Robert Wexler (D-FL) Said That Governor Palin Was A Supporter Of Pat Buchanan Who He Called A “Nazi Sympathizer.” “Here’s Rep. Robert Wexler of Florida: John McCain’s decision to select a vice presidential running mate that endorsed Pat Buchanan for President in 2000 is a direct affront to all Jewish Americans. Pat Buchanan is a Nazi sympathizer with a uniquely atrocious record on Israel, even going as far as to denounce bringing former Nazi soldiers to justice and praising Adolf Hilter for his ‘great courage.’” (Ben Smith, “Palin On Israel,” Politico, http://www.politico.com, Posted 8/29/08)

· The Obama Campaign Linked Governor Palin As A Supporter Of Pat Buchanan Who They Called A “Nazi Sympathizer.” “‘Palin was a supporter of [MSNBC analyst] Pat Buchanan, a right-winger or as many Jews call him: a Nazi sympathizer,’ Obama spokesman Mark Bubriski wrote in an email.” (Marc Caputo, “Obama Camp Connects The Dots For Jews: McCain…Palin…Buchanan…Nazis,” The Miami Herald’s “Naked Politics” Blog, http://miamiherald.typepad.com, Posted 8/30/08)

· Obama Supporter Representative Steve Cohen (D-TN) Said “Jesus Was A Community Organizer, Pontius Pilate A Governor.” “Last seen in election 2008 comparing Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, to the villain played by Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction, — having survived an anti-Semitic primary challenge — Rep. Steve Cohen, D-Tenn., feels liberated to come on the House floor and say that ‘Jesus was a community organizer, Pontius Pilate a governor.’ Prediction: the Democrats will soon put him in a sack and throw him in a basement.” (Jake Tapper, “Obama-Backing Congressman: Jesus Was A Community Organizer, Pontius Pilate A Governor’,” ABC News’ “Political Punch” Blog, http://blogs.abcnews.com, Posted 9/10/08)

· Announced Obama Supporter Former Sen. Lincoln Chafee Called Governor Palin A “Cocky Wacko.” “Former Rhode Island Republican Sen. Lincoln Chafee has called vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin a ‘cocky wacko’ and said her selection as John McCain’s running mate has energized supporters of Democrat Barack Obama. Chafee left the Republican Party last year after losing his bid for re-election and now supports Obama. He told an audience Tuesday at the New America Foundation in Washington that the Alaska governor has revived a ‘lackluster McCain candidacy.’” (“Former GOP Senator Calls Palin A ‘Cocky Wacko’,” The Associated Press, 9/11/08)

I’m seeing the Obama camp falsehood that there is a Bush Doctrine and everyone should know what it is being peddled a lot today. It turns out that Media Matters itself thinks there is no clear explanation of what the Bush doctrine is. http://mediamatters.org/items/200801080001

    • Duras

The “Bush Doctrine” is a term invented by the media to refer to what should be common sense:

If there are terrorist groups planning and training for attacks on Americans, and if the host countries are either unable or unwilling to take action against them, we’ll do what needs to be done. We won’t wait for them to hit us before we hit back.

Like I said … common sense.

Sarah Palin knows damn well what the “Bush Doctrine” is. She just wasn’t about to fall into the trap that Gibson had set for her, which was to get a clip of her explicitly endorsing a Bush policy that the Obama people could then turn around and use against her.

      • http://www.deadenders.wordpress.com scott in jupiter

Shouldn’t they be happy if she doesn’t know the Bush Doctrine.

        • Darryl

Yes, that was the whole point of her faigning ignorance on it. Like the above poster said. It was a trap to get her to say yes to it that way they could tell everyone she was a bush fanatic.

Now they are doing the exact opposite saying she isn’t such a fan of bush’s after all. Of course they are trying to make it out to be a bad thing, but really no one gives a shit about it.

                  Woo-hoo!

                  • http://www.youtube.com/user/PaulFVillarreal Paul F. Villarreal

Oh, and here is a CRUSHING piece of info from that AP poll. Just read this:

‘Eighty percent say McCain, with nearly three decades in Congress, has the right experience to be president. Just 46 percent say Obama, now in his fourth year in the Senate, is experienced enough. Another 47 percent say Obama lacks the proper experience — an even worse reading than the 36 percent who had the same criticism about Palin, now in her second year as governor after serving as a small-town mayor in her state.’

11 percent of people feel, correctly, that Palin has more experience to be President than does Obama.

Ba ha ha ha! The American people have come through again!

Keep attacking Palin’s experience, Obama. And leave your own flank fully exposed.

Folks, this contest could very well be over very, very soon.

Something is developing on the Drudge Report. Harry Reid has referred to John McCain as President McCain. Probably some slam. But it is in development.

Also at the top of Drudge there is a ad screen that rotates ads. One of them is support Sarah against the MSM attacks. You can do so with donations OR signing the petition of support. I signed it yesterday I hope you all will as well.

Bush’ doctrine whatever it is has confused everyone. There is no way the enemy or anyone else can figure out just what GW has on his mind OR if he even has a mind. LOL! :) . http://www.sfu.ca/pamr/media_releases/media_releases_archive/media_release05210801.html

          Of particular note:

          * Fatalities from terrorism have dropped by 40 per cent while al-Qaeda has faced a dramatic collapse in support throughout the Muslim world.

          * There has been an “extraordinary, but largely unnoticed, positive change” in the sub-Saharan African security landscape, with the number of conflicts being waged reduced by more than half between 1999 and 2006, and the combat toll dropping by 98 per cent.

          * A decline in the total number of armed conflicts and combat deaths around the world also continues.

Another O-bot talking point bites the dust.

      • tek

Then you have to give her credit for being a better politician than Obama.

    • Docelder

Maybe Charlie shouldn’t let the Obama staffers submit the questions. The question… had she answered it yes or no, was just intended as a political ad for Obama. She did all she could to answer him without as best she could without being disrespectful… though it was apparent he was angry he couldn’t extract the “gotcha” out of her that was “expected” from Charlie. I look for that to be the pattern… All the “newsmen” are going to want to be the one who bags the “hockey mom”.

What Is the Bush Doctrine, Anyway?

      By Dan Froomkin
      Special to washingtonpost.com
      Friday, September 12, 2008; 11:32 AM

Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin’s evident cluelessness when asked in an interview yesterday if she agreed with the Bush Doctrine is appropriately being seen as emblematic of her ignorance of foreign policy.

But as it happens, I’m not sure anyone is entirely clear on what the Bush Doctrine is at this particular moment.

There is no Bush Doctrine. It is the Bush strategy and proposed in 2002 post 9/11. The Bush Doctrine is just a phrase Bush opponents and the main stream media call it. Here are examples of real doctrines….Truman Doctrine Monroe Doctrine Kirkpatrick Doctrine Eisenhower Doctrine Go look them up and you see the obvious differences!

I’m voting for McCain/Palin, but this Ad was weak; there is no details; it does not make you want to go out and vote for them; if you were not voting for them already.

From the NYT TV Watch blog:

“Mr. Gibson, who sat back in his chair and wriggled his foot impatiently, had the skeptical, annoyed tone of a university president who agrees to interview the daughter of a trustee, but doesn’t believe she merits admission.”

    http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/12/us/politics/12watch.html?_r=1&ref=us&oref=slogin

Of course, the article criticizes Gov. Palin for having ‘prepared’ answers. Considering that she didn’t know exactly what Charlie would ask, this seems a compliment rather than the put down they intend it to be. Since when is it wrong to be prepared to do your job? Sarah Palin’s job right now (other than being the CEO of Alaska) is to support Senator McCain’s campaign for the presidency. Seems like they are mad that right now she is doing well at handling all of her many jobs.

    • fluffy bunny

Yep, can’t have anybody study and work hard to be successful. No, no, no. We need the government to make sure we all get an equal outcome no matter how much ambition or work ethic each of us may possess.

I’m going to agree with you here. They ran a brilliant one before the GOP convention that they need to put into high rotation.

      Here’s the transcript:

Barack Obama’s ‘celebrity’ zinged again by John McCain ad
In politics, when a campaign finds a theme that seems to connect, it gears up to keep pounding and pounding and pounding that message into the collective consciousness.

So it is with John McCain and his merry band of aides, who obviously believe they’ve struck gold with their bid to define Barack Obama as little more than part of a rarefied — but insubstantial — strain of American culture. Note the very first word in a 60-second radio ad McCain unveiled today:

Announcer: Celebrities like to spend their millions. Barack Obama is no different. Only it’s your money he wants to spend.

Obama’s got plans -– big plans -– for your money.

Eight hundred sixty three billion in new government programs – a 23% increase in the size of government.

Massive spending. That will lead to even higher budget deficits.

Piling more debt on the backs of your children and grandchildren.

Even Obama’s hometown newspaper, the Chicago Tribune, says Obama has “no interest in eliminating deficit spending.”

They’re right. So no wonder Obama wants to raise taxes on your income, your electric bills, even your life savings.

Ready to tax. Ready to spend. Not ready to lead.

      That’s the real Obama.

      • beebop

The debates will deal with the issues. And campaign stops. Ads are meant to get your attention and say something. I forget which “journalist” said it, but right now it’s still about zeromama …

      • [CHANGE YOUR USERNAME!]

Obama has no experience dealing with real issues. He punts, he does not show up or he votes absent.

Don’t put your money on a late in the game winning play with him. He has none. McCain has resources and experience he has not even tapped yet. Obama is a short-time sprinter. McCain is the well-paced long distance runner.

    • Duras

Most people don’t base their votes on issues. They base their votes on a gut feeling about a candidate and how well they relate to him. As such, these new 527 ads (which don’t come directly from the McCain campaign, by the way) will be very effective.

The gut-level messages these ads are sending are:

      1) Obama doesn’t like his country very much, as evidenced by the people he hangs around with and his reluctant patriotism.

      2) America’s enemies are hoping he’ll win because they see him as a wimp and a pushover

      3) Obama wants open borders so that you can continue to pay tax dollars to fund benefits for illegal aliens and he doesn’t care if American cultural heritage is diluted.

These messages will resonate powerfully with the middle-class and lower-middle class white voters who will decide this election.

Do us a solid and hold him accountable.” But O’Reilly practically blushed when he talked about Obama. He was happy to have him on the show at last; his ego had been stroked.

  • JKFriz

McCain should try actually running an ad that has a kernel of truth in it for once, instead of completely taking two-word quotes out of context. From factcheck:

    # The ad says “they said she was doing ‘what she was told.’ ” But the Obama adviser who’s being quoted didn’t accuse Palin of meekly following orders. What he actually said is that she made a false claim about Obama’s legislative record and added, “maybe that’s what she was told.”

    # It says “they lashed out at Sarah Palin; dismissed her as ‘good looking,’ ” But “they” didn’t lash out at all. Obama – who is the one pictured – didn’t say anything like that. The only one the McCain campaign quotes is Obama’s running mate, Biden, and he actually offered the remark as a compliment. Biden said the “obvious” difference between Palin and himself is “she’s good looking.”

So, to summarize: this is total bullshit. But what else is new?

    • HARP

      Is this your first election?

Factcheck: Biden actually offered the “she’s good looking” as a “compliment!”

      bwahahahahahahahahahahaha….

Sort of like Biden saying Obama is “clean” and “articulate?”

      bwahahahahahahahahaha

What a compliment! You know, when you’re being patronizing, it’s not a “compliment.”

      • JKFriz

What’s extraordinarily patronizing is the tenor of this ad; Hillary stood on her own two feet for this entire process, while this line of reasoning tries to pre-empt any criticism as “disrespectful.”

        • kgirl1028

I think Sarah palin could physically take on you and obama at the same time, and kick both of your behinds. know that! embrace that, love that! standing up for her is just what real men are supposed to do, cause their mama taught them that. but “the female of the species is more deadly than the male.”

          • Alex

What stupidity do you speak kgirl? nanny nanny poo poo…please grow up.

            Thanks

            • StrawberrybitesBarky

Yikes, 5%? That’s pitiful. This year should have been a cakewalk for us democrats, instead we got Barky the Wonderturd. The DNC could screw up a wet dream.

        • beebop

I wish I could go back and find your stupid “hillary needs to stop whining comments.” You are nothing but a two faced liar …. where have we seen that modelled before? Once we elect McCain/Palin, we won’t be seeing twofaced on the run ways for at least four years, THANK YOU JESUS! :)

        • McHope

          Exactly.
Real men, real patriots, real supporters of women’s rights, real progressive thinking people stand up when Palin is attacked.
There wasn’t a Democrat to be found to assure Hillary received the respect she deserved.

Um, Barky is tanking. And unless McCain self destructs there is no way barky can pull this off. Entropy sucks, doesn’t it?

              • Pink Panther

                Alex,
                Thank you for the compliment.

Anyone supporting Obama, once researching and/or knowing his personal history, voting record, radical foreign endorsements and associations, is delusional and has no rational reasoning skills.

Obama has associated with radicals that do not want to take back America and give it to Americans but turn America over to radical nations (e.g., Russia, Cuba, Iran, Venezuela, etc.).

For example, Chavez is now throwing out our ambassadors and stating diplomatic relations will resume when America gets leadership he likes. Chavez has endorsed Obama. Chavez has also invited the Russian strategic bombers to Venezuela this week. Many may recall that Obama did not initially condemn Russian when it invaded Georgia.

Another example: Obama voted against the bill which labeled the Iranian Revolutionary Guard a terrorist organization. Obama also said he would unconditionally negotiate with Iran. Last week, Iranian Political Science Professor Mohammad-Ali Fardnesh Slamed McCain and Palin and Praised Obama.

Obama may say he is a “citizen of the world” but America’s Constitution requires that a natural-born citizen get elected to the POTUS who has allegiance to America, and not a citizen of the world.

            • McHope

Campaigning for their candidate is not the same as standing up against the barrage of disrespect and sexism used against Hillary.

              You said it yourself-
; Hillary stood on her own two feet for this entire process, while this line of reasoning tries to pre-empt any criticism as “disrespectful.”

Sorry, if the public isn’t buying the Obama BS a second time around.
You wouldn’t treat your mother the way the Dems are treating Palin now would you?

              • Garfield

Everyone appears to be assuming that the Obama supporters making comments here are Americans. How do we know that they are not Nigerians (e.g., Africans for Obama), or people from the Chavez or Iranian governments posting propaganda?

These rogue nations have a lot to gain if Obama is elected President.

I find it difficult to people that Americans, after knowing Obama’s history and voting pattern would support him.

Are some American’s truly that obtuse?

                • Ani

                  Garfield,

Yes, sir, unfortunately, they are. I still know some people who are adamant about voting for him.

They have not paid any attention to most of this stuff and when you tell them the truth about him, they refuse to believe you. Mostly what I hear are people spouting generalities about “Change.” And they are also very good at spouting propaganda about Sarah Palin that they get from MoveOn.Org or DailyKos — who knows what horror show they have invented. Some of this nonsense (since debunked) has also been posted here.

I truly feel badly for his staunch supporters because the day will come when they will find out the truth. And there will be no hiding from it. When they day will come, I don’t know.

                  • Garfield

                    Ani

They sound just like the neo cons who maintained that WMD were in Iraq although evidence proved otherwise. I have a family member who continues to say that there were WMD in Iraq, and Bush and Cheney were justified in invading the country.

The Obama supporters are as out of touch with reality as my family member.

            • Kal

They didn’t speak out clearly, in a timely fashion, or with the authority of anyone in the DNC but themselves behind them — and they got trashed by the media for doing what they did do.

              PUMA!!

        • Postmaster

            • Ferd McBerfle

Subtlety is lost on you bots. It takes a two-by-four to get you to pay attention, dickweed.

        • Hope Floats

Hillary endured more than a woman with her lengthy resume, sitting senator and former First Lady should have had to. The attacks on Sarah Palin have been even more lurid, and they should not go unanswered. The Republican party and John McCain are making it clear that sexism will not be tolerated. Good for them.

          • [CHANGE YOUR USERNAME!]

Hillary had to endure them because there remains a culture in America that accepts these attacks. Palin attacked that culture by deed and not words. That is change. Obama no longer owns this issue.

Obama says send him to Washington so he can change a negative mind-set. McCain already did and is not even yet in Washington. I guess McCain now owns change we can believe it because we see it with our own eyes.

Obama is a union hack and it is time he gets exposed for this major agenda of his. He is totally bought by the special interest public employee unions starting with the SEIU. Time to get back to the real issues at stake here, folks.

You need to cut the crap my Republican friend and admit loudly==and I do mean LOUDLY== that Sarah Palin is a huge beneficiary of the puma movement which is now watching for abuse of another woman. You denigrate the value of hillary in this mix and you will begin to wear very thin here. We could all just as easily write Hillary in and leave you to your own devices. Just food for thought.

      • NoTrollZone

actually, if i may be even more cynical..
the good looking comment i believe had a element of trying to make obama look more masculine.
the larry sinclair oil deposit is starting to burble. obama is pretty. he’s paris hilton.
that’s why the children like him.

        • JKFriz

Except for the fact that Obama didn’t even utter the “good-looking” remark.

Yes, I know the McCain ad showed a still picture of Obama at the same time as it showed the words “good-looking”, but – and listen carefully here – if you read on, you’ll notice that Biden is the one quoted.

          • NoTrollZone

that’s right stupid troll. biden made the comment. trying to protect obama from the pretty label.

Not the same as doing what they’re told. Obama likes to hide behind his surrogates. He denounces their insane comments, but they do in fact reflect on the candidate. He should grow a pair. :)

              • Ted Kennedy’s Swim Coach

It’s evident that PDS (Palin Derangement Syndrome) has replaced CDS (Clinton Derangement Syndrome) now that they don’t have Hillary to kick around any longer. It appears the OFB can only function when it has a woman to unleash its hatred on.

Speaking of which, there is a piece at HuffPo up today (no, I won’t link) in which the author indulges in sexual fantasies concerning Gov. Palin. This is on top of Gary Kamiya’s stuff in Salon the other day.

I am starting to think “derangement” is too kind a word.

    • abbie

The Democratic Party is proving itself to not be very progressive when it comes to women. So why exactly are we supposed to vote for them?

    • tek

I was thinking today, how is it that Obie can get up in public and call Hillary a bitch, but if another candidate called him the “n” word, he’d have that person drawn and quartered. And I have not one shred of respect for black people who have railed against the use of any term they consider derogatory being used against them, but they sit in an audience watching Obama and laugh when a First Lady who fought their battle is called an insulting sexist name. And I think I don’t want my tax dollars to pay for these people anymore.

Mark Steyn, commenting on Howard Kurtz’s piece about how ‘McCain Is Manipulating the Media’ WAAAAH! said:

But, if you were really savvy, you’d “manipulate” the media into a stampede of lurid drivel deriding her as a Stepford wife and a dominatrix, comparing her to Islamic fundamentalists, Pontius Pilate and porn stars, and dismissing her as a dysfunctional brood mare who can’t possibly be the biological mother of the kid she was too dumb to abort. Who knows? It’s a long shot, but if you could pull it off, a really cunning media manipulator might succeed in manipulating Howie’s buddies into spending the month after Labor Day outbidding each other in some insane Who Wants To Be An Effete Condescending Media Snob? death-match. You’d not only make the press look like bozos, but that in turn might tarnish just a little the fellow these geniuses have chosen to anoint.

Plus the Obama camp’s ad is so weak by comparison. I was really expecting a lot more when he announced his new “fighting” stance. Instead all we got is more hopey-changey. Still, that’s fine by me, it’s just more evidence he is playing out of his league.

Back in October 2007, when McCain’s candidacy still appeared dead and buried, the Senator berated the two Republican front runners for lacking the necessary political experience to handle commander in chief responsibilities.

I have had a strong and a long relationship on national security, I’ve been involved in every national crisis that this nation has faced since Beirut, I understand the issues, I understand and appreciate the enormity of the challenge we face from radical Islamic extremism,” the Senator declared. “I am prepared. I am prepared. I need no on-the-job training. I wasn’t a mayor for a short period of time. I wasn’t a governor for a short period of time.

Reagan sent in the Troops and soon after TERRORISTS Bombed the Marine Barracks, killing over 100 Marines. Reagan removed the Troops soon after that.

Yes. It would be like if I would call Obama disrespectful for calling Palin a liar. He is not disrespectful. Obama is a liar about that also.

    • [CHANGE YOUR USERNAME!!]

I got a totally frantic (fanatic) chain letter email from someone I had not heard from in years, and never even by email.

It was a typical Obama screed against Sarah Palin preaching the end of Western Civilization as we know it if Palin is elected. And this came from a woman who urged me to pass it on to all my women friends.

They are getting desparate because they can’t even see spreading more lies that don’t add up to actual experience is no way to claim they are any different from the last 8 years of Bush.

Obama painted Hillary as vicious and incompetent hell on wheels — except when you actually heard and saw what her alleged “crimes” according to Obama were. He wa then the one who looked weak and devious. And that is when the primary campaign turned against him.

The Hillary he painted had nothing at all to do with the real Hillary Clinton: patriot, stateman and most ready to be POTUS. He fails yet again painting Palin as the scourge of Western Civilization. Make up your mind Obama: is Palin strong or weak?

The DNC and the super-delegates are only know seeing what we saw months ago – Obama is the divisive racist and is the real poison to the United States of America.

Sixteen state governors have subsequently became president. In addition, two territorial governors later became president.

To date, fifteen senators have gone on to become president. Only two senators have moved directly from the US Senate to the White House.

So much for Palins lack of experience and she isn’t even running for the presidency—YET! She is just as qualified to be president, historically, as the two candidates that are running for the presidency. Yet Obama says she doesn’t have the experience. Counting Obama’s time “ACTIVELY” spent in the US Senate, then anyone would have to say Palin has more time on the job–EXPERIENCE– than Obama.

    Susan Estrich:

By choosing Biden, Obama effectively distanced himself from Hillary Clinton, no matter how many campaign appearances she may be making for him now. That may or may not have been a smart choice. But it is hardly one Democrats should invite voters to revisit in this post-Palin era. The casual and sometimes unconscious sexism of so many liberals in the two weeks since Palin was picked has raised hackles, which reminders of how Hillary was passed over by Obama can only exacerbate.

New John McCain Ad Sets Record Straight on Obama’s Role in Immigration Reform – Video 9/12/08

ANNCR: Obama and his Congressional allies say they are on the side of immigrants. But are they?

The press reports that their efforts were ‘poison pills’ that made immigration reform fail.

    The result:

    No guest worker program.

    No path to citizenship.

    No secure borders.

    No reform.

I disagree with McCain’s position on this. Always have. He’s pandering in a way that makes me very angry. okay, that’s it… that woman needs to be exported.

            • Boxer Mum 06

Just 15 minutes into the show she brought up Vick’s conviction on dogfighting charges.

“You know from his background this is not an unusual thing for where he comes from,” said Goldberg.

“There are certain things that are indicative to certain parts of our country.”

Co-host Joy Behar seemed shocked at Goldberg’s statements.

“How about dog torture and dog murdering,” Behar asked.

“Unfortunately it’s part of the thing,” Goldberg replied.

“You’re a dog lover. For a lot of people dogs are sport,” she added.

Behar continued to shake her head in disgust.

Goldberg said it seemed to her that it took a while for Vick to realize that the charges against him were serious.

“It seemed like a light went off in his head when he realized that this was something the entire country really didn’t appreciated, didn’t like,” Goldberg said, referring to Vick’s guilty plea.

She said if the case had involved somebody from New York City her feelings would have been different.

Goldberg pointed out that Vick was raised in the South.

“This is part of his cultural upbringing,” said Goldberg.

Co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck said she was encouraged by the NFL suspending Vick indefinitely.

But Goldberg continued to defend Vick saying “This is a kid who comes from a culture when this is not questioned.”

It was Goldberg’s first day moderating the talk show. She took over from Rosie O’Donnell who quit the show earlier this year after feuds with Donald Trump and Hasselbeck.

            • tillthen

Time for blacks to get out of their insulating churches and get some fresh air. The civil rights movement opened doors decades ago. Obama walked through them. Why haven’t they.

Show me a community college anywhere in America that does not had a college degree to any and all who work for it.

Yet AA graduation rates still remain the lowest for any ethnic group and most of that comes from peer pressure …….. not to succeed and get called an Uncle Tom – which is the voice of the black community spreading separatism and racism; not the rest of America who has taken this splendid public education opportunity to get ahead.

      • kgirl1028

i’m with urban hillary on that one, step away from the AA analysis it might get you burnt. Would you tell your wife her a$$ is to big for her dress and expect to get any that night? No! I’m already being a tretuous uncle tom not voting for obama. Don’t press it.

However, think about how hillary clinton supporters feel right about now. now multipuly that by 200 years. thats how alot of african americans view the government. I’m not about to debate whether the view is benifical or fair, but when has feelings ever been “rational”. i actually believe a man walked on water, that’s not rational, the only difference between me and most christians is that I know i’m unrational. So if we start bring race into this, peoples feelings might get hurt so let sleeping dogs lie.

      • cocky whacko

A lot of people on this site say that the Democratic party force them out. And I realize that most people here genuinely believe that Clinton was treated badly and Obama shouldn’t be the nominee. I disagree. However, if we Obama is chasing away people “Obama’s gums look sick” from the party, then I say good good riddance.

Typical white people just don’t understand.

        • Ferd McBerfle

Typical white people just don’t understand.

For someone as racist as you appear to be, you sure whine a lot about racism in others. You are a typical Obamabot.

        • Peggy Sue

Really? Oprah and Michelle and Whoopi know what slavery was like. Well, they’re certainly a hell of lot alot older than they look.

We could all get shot at a gas station. Drive-by shootings, gang warfare, and thugs on parade. Color doesn’t protect us from unspeakable violence and crime.

But, of course, we could explain the violence away by citing the sins of slavery. Dare I mention the number of whites who died to end slavery? The American Civil War numbers?

Dare I mention that slavery did not originate in the United States? Or that slevery has [and still does] exist throughout the world. Including Africa, I might add.

So, please go play the race card somewhere else. You’ve played it too often and way too freely. To your shame, you’ve rendered the word “racism” nearly meaningless. That in and of itself is a tragic result of this election season.

I have stated this before: if everything is racist then nothing is racist.

Peddle the “boo-hoo” guilt somewhere else. And if you feel guilty? Fine. Knock yourself out! Vote your guilt and shame.

Whoopi Goldberg and many African Americans instinctively know a McCain?plain administration would bring about dark days for minorities.

the other day FF said parents who know their unborn child has a handicap should abort them because of the drain handicapped people place on society.

Today, he gives us this little nugget of wisdom…that black people “instinctively know” not to trust a white candidate. In other words, blacks instinctively don’t trust whites.
I am of course filling in a gap. FF does not explicitly say whites, he says McCain/Palin. But it would be impossible for us to believe that FF meant black people have evolved an aversion instinct just for McCain. Or just towards Republicans. How silly is that?

I for one am looking forward to FreedomFighter’s next great Thought Bomb. I must admit, that I am having some problems putting a label on FF’s particular brand of social and scientific philosophy. Any suggestions?

What is hilarious about all this is that everything they accuse Palin of, Obama is actually guilty of himself. Do you think he’d have a big following from young, liberal women if they didn’t think he’s good-looking? (I can’t see it, but there’s no accounting for some people’s taste).

Isn’t he lying about his record? (But the media doesn’t call him on it).

And as far as doing what he’s told, Obama is the biggest puppet ever.

    • Darryl

I don’t think america really votes for anything anymore. Backroom deals decide who the president is.

If the McCain leads and gains in the polls hold true, an Obama victory seems highly unlikely. I’m sure that his campaign advisors are urging him to dump Biden, and bring in Hillary Clinton, which would guarantee Obama the white house. Firstly, will Obama with his massive ego agree that he has made a major error in judgement, and ask Hillary to come on? Secondly, will Hillary accept Obama’s offer?

    • cat

    • [CHANGE YOUR USERNAME!!]

Obama started losing support months ago – he could not even turn his primary campaign around when Hillary started winning and winning. All he had were the caucuses he thugged and the super-delegates he bought and a few red state wins.

This is nothing on which to build a national campaign. Obama never closed the deal for the nomination except to drive Clinton out of the party – just like he thugged every other election he “won”.

Obama is just more of the same Obama – and no one is still buying. He still does not understand why.

      • lark

His flip-flops canceled his appeal. He knew it and that’s when he offered a generic Democratic campaign in his acceptance speech. It would have at least given him a chance, considering he is running after a very unpopular president, but… but he really has not done his work on what is a generic Democratic platform. He can recite the themes but not the details. He doesn’t know how to sell it because he has never given it a thought. Everything he is has been stolen from Hillary and others. So when the time came to sell a generic Democratic campaign he can’t articulate it. That’s outside any other facts pertaining to this campaign.

This would result in throwing Caroline Kennedy under the bus for selecting the wrong candidate.

Hillary can not assume the VP role now, it would be political and career suicide.

The campaign has to stick with Biden for good or bad. If he bails now, it will show such weakness in Barry’s decision making – yet another flip flop – it would ensure his loss in November.

Plus, let’s face it – Mechelle was a huge force in the decision NOT to select Hillary and Barry can’t throw Mechelle under the bus.

    Woulda, Coulda, Shoulda
    JENNIFER RUBIN – 09.09.2008 – 12:46 PM
While Obama supporters flail about and bemoan the state of the race, here’s something to consider: the fix which Barack Obama is now in is entirely of his own making. The obvious blunder was in bypassing Hillary Clinton as VP. With Clinton, the frenzy of excitement would have been for the Democrats and Sarah Palin would be back in Alaska. But that is not Obama’s only flub, not by a long shot. Consider:

    – Reneging on his public financing promise: Had he not done that, he might have saved his New Politics reputation and avoided his current money woes.

    – Going on the Magical Mystery Tour: Had he not done that, we likely wouldn’t have had the “I still don’t think the surge was worth it” interview, there wouldn’t have been the priceless Berlin rally footage and he might have spent the summer at home talking about energy policy.

    – Nixing the townhalls: Had he not done that, he — again — might have sustained the New Politics moniker and could have kept the focus on domestic issues and McCain’s association with George Bush.

    – Losing the opportunity of a lifetime: Had he not done the angry liberal routine in Denver he might not be trailing among independents by an unbelievable margin of 52-37%.

There are a host of other, smaller errors (e.g. the atrocious Rick Warren forum, hiding from the press in Hawaii during the invasion of Georgia), but the conclusion is inescapable: if Barack Obama does lose this, there won’t be anyone to blame but himself.

The polls are simply verifying what many of us have been saying: Americans don’t pay any attention to November elections until Labor Day.

And now that the average voter is paying attention. they are telling pollsters what we have been shouting for months: What were the Democratic leaders smoking when they nominated (read: rigged the nomination process for) an inexperienced, facile, egotistical, typical academic do-nothing for president of the United States. We have yet another Dukakis, McGovern, Kerry candidate who will pull down the entire Democratic ticket.

McCain’s choice of Sarah Pain as VP has only served to remind rational, sane Democratic men and women what might have been with Hillary Clinton at the top of the ticket. The outrageously mysogynistic attacks on Palin have reinforced our memories of how the party, their emotionally immature accomplices on kos, and the greedy corporate media destroyed Hillary Clinton.

We cannot let this stand. The current Democratic party is a travesty. The only way to dismember it is to vote against Obama–which means a protest vote for McCain. (And John McCain is NOT George Bush.) The ballot box is our weapon of change.

The “Disrespectful” ad isn’t going to make the republican’s case at all, in my humble opinion. As a matter of fact I suspect it may have exactly the opposite effect. I believe that’s a result of the simplicity of the script.

The accusations are a little too straightforward. When they’re presented together in quick succession and followed by a two-word assertion–how disresptectful–they immediately invite the viewer to question the entire proposition. This is especially true when the context is so obviously another republican attack ad, with John McCain’s endorsement affixed to the end.

The accusations themselves pose problems. They dismissed her as good looking, but it backfired? That one is going to leave most people scrathing their heads. Then there’s the one about calling her a liar. The word might raise hackles with some people, but it’s equally likely to remind others of the misrepresentations Ms. Palin has repeatedly made.

    Lipstick, Dipstick
A Commentary By Debra J. Saunders
Thursday, September 11, 2008 Email to a FriendAdvertisement
“You can put lipstick on a pig, but it’s still a pig,” Sen. Barack Obama said Tuesday — thereby spawning one of those vacuous debates that will consume at least two days of air time on cable news talk shows.

Thank Sen. John McCain’s campaign for holding a press call afterward asking Obama to apologize for comparing running mate Sarah Palin to a pig. And then you get instant mindless controversy.

Obama dismissed the gambit as “phony outrage.” And: “Nobody actually believes that these folks are offended.” No lie. It’s why folks call this the silly season.

Obama also had said, “You can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called ‘change;’ it’s still going to stink after eight years.” What next? Will McCain’s Navy demand that Obama apologize to old fish, too?

As for Obama, he, too, has climbed on to the fake umbrage platform. Note how the instant anyone criticizes him, Obama decries “Swift boat politics” — evoking the independent 2004 campaign that took on Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry’s war record and character.

Obama just can’t help himself. The Democratic nominee brought up the “Swift boat” ads again Wednesday — undeterred by the left’s series of scurrilous personal attacks against GOP vice presidential candidate Palin and her family. It started with a Daily Kos story alleging that Palin was actually the grandmother of her infant son, Trig.

But it didn’t end there. The folks at Factcheck.org felt compelled to respond to a flood of falsehoods being spread about Palin. As the organization reported, “She did not demand that books be banned from the Wasilla library.”

“She was never a member of the (secessionist) Alaskan Independence Party.” And: “Palin has not pushed for teaching creationism in Alaska’s schools.” Straight news stories have probed meetings in which Palin, then a rookie mayor, asked Wasilla librarian Mary Ellen Emmons about removing books from the library. Palin never named any specific books. No books were banned. The librarian kept her job. But none of that matters.

In a 2006 gubernatorial debate, Palin said she believed in a “healthy debate” in public schools between creationism and evolution — and that reasonable view has been contorted into Palin wanting to force her creationist views down others’ throats. Actually, it is the side that wants no debate that is intolerant.

Methinks if the media believe in such strict scrutiny of Palin’s past, then perhaps reporters might want to look at Obama’s association with Bill Ayers, formerly of the bomb-happy radical Weather Underground when Obama was a state legislator. Or is it only permissible to have flirted with your political persuasion’s far side only if you are a Democrat?

Yes, Palin was for the Bridge to Nowhere before she was against it. Still, she was against it. And try as they might, Team Obama can’t erase the fact that Palin stood up to the good old boys in the Alaskan GOP establishment.

The real smear is the insistence of Camp Obama that Palin is patently inexperienced — an odd claim coming from a campaign whose candidate began running for the White House two years into his first term as a U.S. senator.

Now maybe Palin will stumble and show the country that she is not ready to be a heartbeat away from the presidency. But the Democrats can’t wait for that day, or limit the debate to the issues, because they want so much to destroy this backwoods upstart.

In that spirit, South Carolina Democratic Chairwoman Carol Fowler told Politico.com that Palin’s “primary qualification seems to be that she hasn’t had an abortion.” If I were Obama, I’d stow the Swift boat laments.

Just remember people dont’ turn you back on obama, he still could pull this foolishness off. let’s keep our fingers crossed, and those that pray, do so. I dont know alot but I know obama is dangerous. and the ways are legion. But McCain doesn’t need to get too cocky, like a commentator said obama is most dangerous when cornered.

    • [CHANGE YOUR USERNAME!!]

Obama makes mistakes when he is cornered. Bring ‘em on.

It is a long way from over, for sure!

    • lark

Obama is out of his league now. Inexperience shows. He lost everything to run on, even a generic Dem platform. His only offer is ‘charisma’ + disrespect + lies. With disrespect on the mix, it cancels ‘charisma.’ So what’s left is lies. He’s got nothing left except lying to cover his lies. Its a lesson for anyone that wants to learn from this experience. Bankruptcy in a candidacy. Barack exemplifies the real estate foreclosure crisis or the Lehman’s free fall. Flip-flopping + lying left him totally empty and exposed. Game over.

Obama like to put money on bike trails instead of taking care of people who lost everything….good for Washington? NO!

    • beebop

Zeromama voted for that bridge TWICE … the second time instead of sending the money to Katrina victims. Don’t think that is a winning position for your team, sweetie ….

From your favorite website (the one with the seemingly very short memory)
      The DailyKos:

      Coburn Amendment, on the floor
      by kos
Thu Oct 20, 2005 at 02:21:46 PM PDT
The Club for Growth blog is tracking the debate over the Coburn amendment that would cancel the Bridge to Nowhere and Don Young Way and use that $454 million for New Orleans reconstruction.

It’s a pretty heated debate. Sen. Ted Stevens has threatened to resign if the amendment passes.
Honestly, there’s no reason for any Democrat to vote against this amendment.
Another earlier Coburn amendment to revoke pork projects in Rhode Island, Washington State, and Nebraska, for a total of $1.5 million in savings, was rejected. Those voting for the Amendment:

      George Allen (R-VA)
Richard Burr (R-NC)
Tom Coburn (R-OK)
Jim DeMint (R-SC)
John Ensign (R-NV)
Russ Feingold (D-WI)
Lindsey Graham (R-SC)
Chuck Hagel (R-NE)
Jon Kyl (R-AZ)
McCain (R-AZ)
Jeff Sessions (R-AL)
John Sununu (R-NH)
Jim Talent (R-MO)

It’s embarrassing that Feingold was the only Democrat voting for it. What a great way to show the country that Democrats are the party of fiscal responsibility. Sheez…
Update: FYI, the reason senators would vote against these amendments is because if any of them pass, it puts every single pork project in their own states in danger. What Coburn has done is allowed a challenge to every single pork line item. As well as it should be. Let each project stand on its own.
Update: Roll call is over, and the amendment failed 15-82. This is becoming a gross failure by both parties and the institution of government.
      Voting Yes:

      Allard (R)
Allen (R)
Bayh (D)
Burr (R)
Coburn (R)
Conrad (D)
DeMint (R)
DeWine (R)
Feingold (D)
Graham (R)
Kyl (R)
Landrieu (D)
Sessions (R)
Sununu (R)
Vitter (R)

Update II: It was easier to keep tally of the meager few “yes” votes than write in the tons of senators which put the politics of personal pork above the national interest. A $223 million bridge serving 50 people was more important to these people than rebuilding storm-battered New Orleans.
Simply unconscionable. Those who voted against these amendments have zero credibility on issues of fiscal responsibility. Zero.
And by the way, Feingold is starting to look really good for ’08.

So says the Kos himself. Amazing that PDS has so taken over the far-left that they can’t remember to purge their own websites to hide their own contradictions:

And from another one of your favorite amnesiac sources:

The New York Times, September 22, 2007
Alaska: End Sought For ‘bridge To Nowhere’
        By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
Gov. Sarah Palin ordered state transportation officials to abandon the ”bridge to nowhere” project that became a nationwide symbol of federal pork-barrel spending. The $398 million bridge would have connected Ketchikan, on one island in southeastern Alaska, to its airport on another nearby island. ”Ketchikan desires a better way to reach the airport,” Ms. Palin, a Republican, said in a news release, ”but the $398 million bridge is not the answer.” She directed the State Transportation Department to find the most ”fiscally responsible” alternative for access to the airport. Ketchikan is Alaska’s entry port for northbound cruise ships that bring more than one million visitors yearly. Flights into Gravina Island require a 15-minute ferry ride to reach the more densely populated Revillagigedo Island and Ketchikan.

Obama disrespectful of women? Oh, mercy. Let me count the ways!

    Brushing off his shoulders, disrespectful.

Playing that nasty song about his “Problems” in Iowa.

Going golfing during Hillary’s much demanded “Concession” speech.

Mailing out that text message regarding his vice presidential pick at 3 a.m.
(That was REALLY nasty, in my book. I mean by that time he was the winner for pity’s sake).

Not even vetting Hillary for his running mate.

Claiming Palin just a mayor of a small town without mentioning that she was GOVERNOR of Alaska.

    Saying Hillary was likable “enough.”

carma, the problem is, John Mccain never criticized poeple who do wear flag pins as “not true patroitism”
    that was obama.

Your so scared, if/when McPalin win it will destroy the whole liberal structure of women voters.
This election has the chance to change the plitical landscape for republicans like 72 did.
As a new republican i am happy.
Also, in a blue state like PA where i am at it is looking dark for obama. If McCain wins either PA or MI you lose. Both states are very well up for grabs.
Democrats in michigan have had the state in years long recession and in PA we are taylor made for mcCain with us being bitter bible thumping,gun-toting bigots.
Obama’s pals in the media can explain away those comments as much as they want but we in PA will not forget. They can explain away Rev. Wrong and Ayers all they want but we will not forget the hatred of his friends or the terrorist attacks that ayers commited against our great nation.
And, yes, we in PA, unlike liberals for obama love our country and do not think the sky is falling with only barry Soetoro to help us.

Also, FF carma and Frtitz, why has obama never expalined why he had 2 names? Why has he never explained his “lost” years at columbia? Why has he not explained why his religion was listed as Islam even though he swears up and down he has NEVER been a muslim?

Actually, Obama would have made a great television evangelist, who wants to con people of their money. :-) McCain is real, and serious about serving his country, and has loads of experience, and he works with democrats too. In reality, if you look at this contest without bias, there is no comparison at all. McCain wins hands down.

I just was reading over the transcript of the Presidental debate from 1992.

I found this quote from Bill Clinton and thought it was right on in today’s election:

More and more women are being elected. Look at all these women Senate candidates we have here. And, you know, according to my mother and my wife and my daughter this world would be a lot better place if women were running it most of the time. I do think there are special experiences and judgments and backgrounds and understandings that women bring to this process, by the way. This lady said here, how have you been affected by the economy. I mean, women know what it is like to be paid an unequal amount for equal work. They know what it’s like not to have flexible working hours. They know what it’s like not to have family leave or child care. So I think it would be a good thing for America if it happened, and I think it will happen in my lifetime.

Want to pay workers only $1 an hour?

  • iVet

Now Senator Obama is crying about full dosclosure and transparency. He seems to forget that he is hiding his own record at Columbia, his passport files, his record of ‘achievement’ at the Woods Fund and CAC, etc..(and by the way, where are Senator Biden’s records for his 36 years of earmarks?). he loved to accuse Senator Clinton of hiding her records while no one in the press demanded that he produce anything like say a medical record, a drug test, a copy of his bar application….

Since he says he thought about joining the military, here is a quick test for him. If he is willing to fill out the EPSQ form to request a Security Clearance (the same as would be required of a newly commissioned officer in the military) and then publicly releasing the findings after the Defense Security Services investigated his background and interviewed his references and their FBI records, then maybe we could have confidence in his trustworthiness and background. It is the minimum required for any officer (those who need a TS clearance or higher get a very thorough investigation) so as the wannabe CinC of the military he should be willing to go through the process. If he keeps pushing disclosure he could shoot himself in the foot. When the people see the Palin’s taxes, they might look awfully familiar to a lot of folks:

“Obama wants Sarah Palin to release her tax records going back 10 years. I’d note you can find online her financial disclosure forms filed with the state going back to at least 2001. (Some have handwritten answers.)

The forms are strikingly detailed in income and assets, with specific numbers for items like Todd Palin’s IRA holdings.

On the most recent one we can learn that her eldest son Track Palin made $714.42 at $8.50 an hour working at Bruce’s Snowboard Shop as a part-time summer hire. There’s also his earnings from working construction and Army Boot Camp salary, as well as Bristol Palin’s earnings from working at a Barisa at Nordstrom Coffee Shop.

Senate disclosure forms, by contrast, only require lawmakers to disclose their assets within a range, from $50,001 to $100,000 or $100,001 to $250,000.”

  • navyvet48

Prepared answers. Palin did her homework. She conceptualized possible questions and had ready answers. That takes research….and heavy lifting. She shows she is willing to get the answer if she isn’t sure of it. There is nothing worse then someone who bullshits their way through an interview or debate…I know Palin studied up. I appreciate that as a former educator. Palin shows she is earning her right to be VP.

Obama can’t answer questions because he doesn’t do anything but think….he never prepares for interviews and you can tell too! When he debated Hillary….his canned answer “what Hillary said”. No studying he just feels that he is owed the presidency……big difference between the two!

“Disrespectful?” That’s a helluva a euphemism for the misogyny of Barack. Like all bigotry, Obama’s sexism is based in ignorance, fear, and stupidity. I mourn for what has happened to the Democratic Pary in recent months, along with a media I once trusted. Racism, sexism, ageism, xenophobia, and all forms of bigotry used to be condemned by those of us left of center. Now, bigotry is not only condoned but lauded when used against the “right” people.

For all the Obot creeps who lurk here, I would have said the same thing if Hillary had employed the same tactics. The irony, and tragedy, is she never would have done so and even pulled punches that should have been thrown because she correctly guessed she would had been derided as “shrill” and other code words. Perhaps criticism of what she could and perhaps should have done would have been even more richly ironic: she would have been accused of racism in sexist terms.

I have come to conclude it is more important to destroy Obama’s cultist movement than to “win” the election. Both can be done, and should if possible, but if Obama staggers across the finish line he and his despicable supporters need to have the mantle of moral, ethical and political corruption draped across their shoulders 24 hours a day for the four pathetic years that will follow.

From Jay Nordlinger (a conservative who initially thought the repubs should stay away from the sexist angle and not make a big deal of it):

Additional Thought on Gibson [Jay Nordlinger]
I have now examined long stretches of tape. (I sound like an assistant football coach, I know.) And he is amazingly condescending, prosecutorial, and snippy — even interrupts a lot. Insufferable. This is not the Gibson American television viewers have long known.

Years ago, I worked in an office where a particularly warm woman was in love with Charlie. I wonder what she thought about the interview, if she saw it.

But here’s the point I wish to make — something specific: In his loud sighings and overall body language, he reminded me quite a lot of Al Gore, in the first 2000 debate.

Remember that debate? Governor Bush did poorly, but Gore’s behavior was so boorish, people tended to focus on that (and a Saturday Night Live parody absolutely slew Gore).

Palin did much better than that (and Bush rose to the occasion — more than rose — in the second and third debates). (Same thing happened in ’04, oddly enough.) And she’ll get nothing but better, I predict.

P.S. Gibson’s behavior was so “out there” — drawing attention to itself — I think Palin should have remarked on it, in the course of her answers. What do I mean by “out there”? Well, I mean intrusive, in a way. Blatant.

Often, a good interviewer is seamless in his performance — he almost absents himself from the proceedings, so that the questions and answers take over. But it was like Gibson was the co-star — if not the lead star — of the whole show.

He was as much adversary — debate opponent — as questioner. And that’s not my idea of how these shebangs should go. (Whether the interviewee is an R or a D.)

Obama voted for the war every single time he could and farms out his family duties while he runs his 50 state complain campaign.

Obama only talks good game on gender pay equity
    DEROY MURDOCK

“Now is the time to keep the promise of equal pay for an equal day’s work,” Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama said Aug. 28 in his convention acceptance speech. He told the crowd in Denver: “I want my daughters to have exactly the same opportunities as your sons.”

Obama’s campaign website is even more specific. Under the heading “Fighting for Pay Equity,” the women’s issues page laments that, “Despite decades of progress, women still make only 77 cents for every dollar a man makes. A recent study estimates it will take another 47 years for women to close the wage gap with men at Fortune 500 corporate offices. Barack Obama believes the government needs to take steps to better enforce the Equal Pay Act…”

Obama’s commitment to federally mandated pay equity stretches from the Rockies to Wall Street and beyond. And yet it seems to have eluded his Senate office. Compensation figures for his legislative staff reveal that Obama pays women just 83 cents for every dollar his men make.

A watchdog group called LegiStorm posts online the salaries for Capitol Hill staffers. “We have no political affiliations and no political purpose except to make the workings of Congress as transparent as possible,” its website explains. Parsing LegiStorm’s official data, gleaned from the Secretary of the Senate, offers a fascinating glimpse at pay equity in the World’s Greatest Deliberative Body.

The most recent statistics are for the half-year from Oct. 1, 2007 to March 31, 2008, excluding interns and focusing on full-time personnel. For someone who worked only until, say, last Feb. 29, extrapolating up to six months’ service simplifies this analysis. Doubling these half-year figures illustrates how a year’s worth of Senate employees’ paychecks should look.

Based on these calculations, Obama’s 28 male staffers divided among themselves total payroll expenditures of $1,523,120. Thus, Obama’s average male employee earned $54,397.

Obama’s 30 female employees split $1,354,580 among themselves, or $45,152, on average.

Why this disparity? One reason may be the under-representation of women in Obama’s highest-compensated ranks. Among Obama’s five best-paid advisors, only one was a woman. Among his top 20, seven were women.

Again, on average, Obama’s female staffers earn just 83 cents for every dollar his male staffers make. This figure certainly exceeds the 77-cent threshold that Obama’s campaign website condemns. However, 83 cents do not equal $1. In spite of this 17-cent gap between Obama’s rhetoric and reality, he chose to chide GOP presidential contender John McCain on this issue.

Obama responded Aug. 31 to Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s Republican vice-presidential nomination. Palin “seems like a very engaging person,” Obama told voters in Toledo, Ohio. “But I’ve got to say, she’s opposed — like John McCain is — to equal pay for equal work. That doesn’t make much sense to me.”

Obama’s criticism notwithstanding, McCain’s payment patterns are the stuff of feminist dreams.

McCain’s 17 male staffers split $916,914, thus averaging $53,936. His 25 female employees divided $1,396,958 and averaged $55,878.

On average, according to these data, women in John McCain’s office make $1.04 for every dollar a man makes. In fact, all other things being equal, a typical female staffer could earn 21 cents more per dollar paid to her male counterpart — while adding $10,726 to her annual income — by leaving Barack Obama’s office and going to work for John McCain.

    How could this be?

One explanation could be that women compose a majority of McCain’s highest-paid aides. Among his top-five best-compensated staffers, three are women. Of his 20-highest-salaried employees, 13 are women. The Republican presidential nominee relies on women — much more than men — for advice at the highest, and thus, best-paid levels.

If anyone on McCain’s Senate staff is unhappy, McCain’s male staffers might complain they seem to get a slightly raw deal.

In short, these statistics suggest that John McCain is more than fair with his female employees, while Barack Obama — at the expense of the women who work for him — quietly perpetuates the very same pay-equity divide that he loudly denounces. Of all people, the Democratic standard bearer should understand that equal pay begins at home.

Interesting discussion, but most of it is just noise. I hope this type of dialogue isn’t representative of average American discourse or else the Framers would be quite…disturbed.

    • Garfield

How is a discussion on equity noise?

Do you think a discussion on racial equity is noise also?

      • Angelo

Your question is noise. People presume much from these little posts, dont they?

        • Garfield

A discussion on equity is important, whether related to race, gender, religion, age, etc.

To minimize or discount the issue of equal pay based on gender is as significant as to minimize or discount the issue of equal pay based on race.

You are noise and at this point insignificant and obtuse.

        • McHope

          Just from your little posts.

        • Alex

This enire blog is noise, and is a reality only in their making.

katherine harris will be exposed, the debates will swing the election, and we will finally have the government working for the people again.

I want to be the first one to say it, cuz you know this is going to happen on Nov. 5th:

            “McCain Stole The Election”!!!

              Alex,
How’s the weather in Caracas today?

The above question is for Alex.

  • [DELETED BY ADMINISTRATOR]

Why is Palin so scared of a little CHOICE in her life ?? her daughter made the CHOICE to bring another [DELETED BY ADMINISTRATOR] into this world.

Palin, Stephanopolis is not as scary as Putin, Akmadinajad, or Kim jong ill. Dont be afraid of little George ! !!!

  • sayitisntso

Biden selection by O. has backfired. He took him on because he’d look more like the senior, experienced John McCain. Turns out, now everybody sees Biden as an albatross around O’s neck. Democratic campaign hasn’t gotten serious about issues which is what was supposed to happen after Biden. And he looks like a goof-ball when he’s insulting the Republicans. Nice work Barky! not

  • sayitisntso

clean up at aisle 15:44 please~!

  • sayitisntso

Sexism and racism are different sides of the same coin. The fact that trolls here use sexism is proof that Obama’s campaign conciously has exploited racist attitudes as well.

    listening, troll?

  • jazzfan

Bump Sara Palin and the horse that brought in town.Go ahead and vote Mccain/Palin.Shows you how stupid people in this country are.Fooled you 1st(Bush)shame on him, fooled you twice in 2004(Bushed again)shame on you.,fool you 3 times you don,t deserve any better

        • Ted Kennedy’s Swim Coach

Yes, the Americans that will give McCain a landslide victory will rue the day ….LOL…all the way to the White House

    • Ferd McBerfle

As a former Democrat, I certainly won’t be voting for Oblockhead. That would be a third Bush term–Oblahblah is just as ignorant, arrogant, and self-absorbed as Smirky. The only difference is color.

  • jazzfan

Disrepect Sara Palin?LOL.You Sara Palin worshipers are in for a big October surprise.

    • Ferd McBerfle

      a big October surprise.

Yeah, McCain/Palin will win by a bigger-than-expected margin. And the only worshipers around these part are obamatrons like you, Skippy.

  • bemused

    Very offensive at 15:44:43 above–

Thinking about this ad, it would be much more powerful if it showed O. disrespecting Hillary, “sweetie,” and anyone else, as well as Palin. Of course the Repubs will stick up for Palin and cry disrespect, but if they can make it look like 0 is a serial offender in the disrespect department, much better, and if all women, even better.

    • McHope

      Yes,
a whole ad devoted to the ways in which he or his campaign has blatantly insulted voters around the nation.
      Small town voters
      Religious voters
      Female voters
      2nd Amenment voters

There are plenty of comments and gestures to use.
It’s not just women Obama and and his ilk like to demean, it’s most Americans.

      • jazzfan

Is that your lame excuse for not voting for a black man and you know it,s a lame excuse.I will think of you and the kind of people like you if they win,in 2010 when America is a 2nd world nation.

        • Ferd McBerfle

There’s that idiotic race card again. It isn’t about color, its about competence. You candidate lacks core competency for POTUS.

Try coming up with some real arguments and not irrelevant fluff from botHQ.

        • bemused

Poor Bobo, nothing to him but his skin, is there? That’s why you say “If you don’t vote for him it’s because he’s black.” You are saying just what we are, he’s empty, just a label we see. But we aren’t objecting to the label, we are objecting to the emptiness.

        • Ted Kennedy’s Swim Coach

However it won’t be a concern of yours because you be in Canada by then. You promised to move when Mccain wins, remember?

        • Peggy Sue

Ahhh. Another true American, so quick to label people, any kind of people that don’t agree or stand in opposition as “people like you.” And please, let fly the racism charge and the fear factor–the USA a 2nd world nation by 2010.

The United States of America, the greatest nation the world has ever seen. Are we perfect? Hardly. It’s all these flawed people running around. But are we exceptional?

Yes. Particularly when we think on our feet, remember our hearts and our history and never blindly follow empty words and promises. Or strong-armed threats.

Fly back to the mothership. Go for detox. You’ll feel much better.

See you in November. In fact, we’ll talk on November 5th, maybe do lunch.

The manufactured outrage and noise on this blog is an example of the poison of our current politics.

There is no room for difference of opinion; only childish insults and projected lies, smears, and character assasinations of a great American – BARACK OBAMA. Whose life story is a model that everyone should hope to aspire towards.

Because the media are asking necessary questions about someone who has been on the national scene for less than two weeks and is a heartbeat away from the presidency, the lemmings cry foul and ONCE again prove that there is something more sacred to them than their country…

    …their party.

The founders are rolling over in their graves.

Look up the terms “unmitigated” and “hogwash”. They are an appropriate phrase for your pathetic attempt at persuading people to vote for your empty shirt, suit, and skull of a candidate.

      • Alex

You made my point. thank you very much.

Obama is a GREAT AMERICAN, and the smears are all unfounded. Wright, Ayers, Rezko, etc. ALL UNFOUNDED

You believe what you want to believe because you don’t pay attention.

        Empty suit. shirt and skull?

when the debates take place and Obama mops the floor with Mccain, you will continue to say this.

Why? Because reality has no meaning to you. You believe what you ant to believe.

What does matter is that most of the American people will pay attention, and will make their vote based on who best will get us out of this morass that the republicans have put us in for the last 8 years.

That choice will be obvious, and Barack Obama; a brilliant, well-spoken visionary will win the election in a landslide, and set this country back on course.

    • Kevin

      A “great american”?
      Give me a break.
that’s one of the best ones I’ve heard from a troll.
What of the media exploring the myriad deceits, outright lies, non answers of the inexperienced very junior senator from IL?
      Hasn’t happened

“He’s no maverick when he votes with Bush 90 percent of the time.”

O-bots keep repeating this 9 out of 10 numbers game. I look at the big tickets:

McCain voted with Bush on immigration reform — bots don’t agree? McCain voted with Bush on funding for AIDS in Africa — bots don’t agree? McCain forced Bush to accept his anti-torture amendment. Does Obama count that as McCain voting with Bush?

McCain supported Bush on the surge, which Obama flip-flops on — so is Obama criticizing McCain for supporting the surge or not? Who knows? Obama opposed the surge when it was unpopular and supports it now that it is popular. Of course, McCain stuck with Bush on the Iraq War and the surge, regardless of popularity.

That 90% statistic is simple-minded and doesn’t actually tell us much. The fact is Kerry asked McCain to be his Vice President. I don’t think Bush would have ever made Kerry’s short-list.

  • MoniQue

Yes, O’Drama and his chicago machine are now setting their sites on the only possible way to win: CHEATING.

I hope the American public keeps a WATCHFUL EYE on them in the election.

Very ironic: Barak & Michelle Obama AND THE “DEMOCRATIC” PARTY THOUGHT THEY HAD RID THEMSELVES OF HILLARY…AND EVERYTHING SHE STOOD FOR IN THE EYES OF AMERICA…

WRONG: SHE EMERGED AS SARAH PALIN and the dems cannot simply boot her out like they did to Hillary.

    OBAMA, IT’S CALLED CHECK-MATE.

Like the trappers here in Florida enjoy their alligator hunting. Of course there’s nothing like being eaten by a 12 footer while having a morning jog. I think the wildlife people in Alaska probably have a good handle on it. They aren’t furry little bunnies.

The wolves are culled to save caribou and moose. The aerial culling is an effort to achieve balance among the species.

The goal to save all three of the species and the rest of the ecosystem that depends on them.

We have an excess deer population that causes car accidents and property damage. The deer also carry ticks that spread lyme disease. The deer are often malnourished and unhealthy.

The most humane way to deal with the deer is to cull the herds. The animal rights fanatics won’t have it.

I have no problem with hunting, especially if a species has become too numerous.

(And we have a problem with bears too. Let the hunters cull the herds.)

    PS: Are you a vegetarian?

What Governor Palin approved of was the methodical slaughter of wild Alaskan wolves by gunning them down from airplanes and helicopters. The purpose was to reduce natural predator populations, to increase the number of moose and caribou available for tourist hunting. It certainly wasn’t about maintaining natural balances in Alaskan wilderness areas.

She also fought to keep polar bears off the endangered specie list. I remember that every time I see her wearing her polar bear broach on her lapel. Her reason is that listing polar bears would get in the way of Alaskan commercial development.

Anti-Big Oil Sarah wants to open ANWR up for oil drilling, remember? We can’t let a few bears get in the way of that. Human activity in ANWR will have no effect on nature, of course. Just as the burning of fossil fuels has had no effect whatsoever on global climate.
