By RUSSELL GOLDMAN

Sept. 12, 2008—

Gov. Sarah Palin says Sen. Barack Obama just might regret not picking Sen. Hillary Clinton as his vice presidential running mate.

“I think he’s regretting not picking her now, I do. What, what determination, and grit, and even grace through some tough shots that were fired her way — she handled those well,” the Alaska governor told Charles Gibson in her third and final exclusive interview with ABC News.

View excerpts of Charles Gibson’s exclusive interview with Gov. Sarah Palin in Wasilla, Alaska, by clicking here.

And Watch Gibson’s exclusive interviews with Palin tonight on “World News” at 6:30 p.m. ET, a special “20/20″ at 10 p.m. ET/ 9 p.m. CT, and “Nightline” at 11:35 p.m. ET

Anyone following the primaries realizes that Clinton was light years ahead of B.O.

The only people I know who were for Obama did not watch the debates or follow the primaries closely.

        • Brian Fellows

I think that he is not regretting picking her at all (at least not out loud), Obama HATES Hillary Clinton. He doesn’t understand why people don’t get it that he is the ONE and he has the MAGIC WAND and if we elect HIM everything will just be WONDERFUL.

Obama is a sick slick piece of work.

Never gonna get it (my vote).

          • tminu

Sick, sickness, mental condition, those things are coming out more and more in describing him and Wright and Michelle…

Actually, Obama has proven during the primaries and now during the general election that he hates women—period!

            It’s obvious!

        • Hope Floats

My family was Catholic and fled Scotland in the 1700′s. That’s why Appalachians are known as rednecks, too. According to one story, they wore red scarves around their necks to signal to one another that they kept the faith.

        • Peggy Sue

Hello? Catholics are Christian, too. Were there excesses during the Reformation? Of course. On both sides. Have there been excesses since then? Yes. But there are no saints here and pretending otherwise is ridiculous. Why?

Because all faiths, all creeds, all races, both genders are composed of human beings.

Color me blind, but I have yet to meet a perfect person. Religious, atheist, agnostic or not. So please, let’s not play the religion card; it’s no better than the race card or the gender card.

You know, as a proud conservative Republican, I’m disgusted with your remark.

LET ME REMIND you kiddo- there is NO religious test under our constitution for our elected leaders.

Your personal spiritual beliefs are your own, don’t dare to presumse they are the the foundation for governing our nation.

        Sarah

  • http://firefox AnnieCarmel

Brava Sarah, you truly are a breath of fresh air. Let’s work to bring the old feminist status quo up to date…as she has suggested…working together with women’s groups. We don’t have to agree but we can come together on the basics. She’s a leader. Can you imagine what she and Hillary could do in the forefront of Government…regardless of which positions they hold?

    • ddd242

Did you say brava when she complained that Hil was a whiner?

      • Hope Floats

She never said Hillary was a whiner. She said it does women little good to complain of sexism. Sarah is of the “gitter done” mindset.

      • Above My Pay Grade

Could you kindly stop the lies and smears? This is not the DailyKos. Thank you.

She did NOT call Hillary a “whiner”.

She basically said that the media was treating Hillary unfairly, but that she needed to avoid any perception of whining, because the media would use it against her. She was defending Hillary and giving her good advice, not bashing her.

  • Sarasota

    Straight talk baby, straight talk.

  • hillaryfighter

Just watched it on ABCNews. She is amazingly strong tonight, I’m giving her an A if yesterday was a B. Obviously, she’s a quick study in interviews. The domestic topics she’s more comfortable wih also helped a lot.

This woman is truly a natural political talent.

    • DAB

I totally agree and told my husband the exact same thing re: A & B!

She was direct and charming and those who dissed her performance yesterday will be disarmed and surprised by tonight’s conversation.

She came across as a reasonably moderate person who belies the “wacko” label that they are trying to paste on her forehead. You Go Girl!

      • JoseyJ

For 1 1/2 years we watched media pundits and anchors diss Hillary and promote an Empty Suit – and now they’re dissing Sarah Palin.
They DO NOT want a woman in the White House.
Hell yes! our Dem family is voting for Palin.

    • kbdabear

I’m impressed with her direct answers to the questions.

Could some Youtube savvy person here put up a video of her interspersed with the uh’s and stammers from Obama’s interview with Stephanopolis?

Side question: Do you believe Stephanopolis corrected Obama’s “my Muslim faith” gaffe to keep him from embarrassing himself, or to call attention to the error?

  • KC

Gotta love this one. We’ve seen the Obama campaign spew sexism, attack Palin’s children, and call her a pig. So they decide to go after McCain. And it blows up in their face again:

I KNEW it! After I read that post earlier today on here, that was my first thought….

now obama is dissing people with disabilities… niiiiiice.

      what a dolt.

      • DAB

Before I realized the import of this ad, I already thought it was petty and politically stupid considering that many of those he is trying to reach are probably older and maybe not too computer literate. But now it’s even worse than that.

I guess BO’s next ad will be about how McCain can’t tie his shoes.

        • http://americanpumainitaly.blogspot.com/ sarainitaly

oh , but don’t you know? he doesn’t need the older voters, or the rest of the base of the party. he has all those new young voters. the ones he gave free concert tickets.

(agree with ya. I thought he was insulting elder americans)

      • Gal from Tex

one wonders what he would say about FDR? Let’s see…he’s offended women, aged folks, those with disabilities (though I am sure Barn..err Barry didn’t think of that when he approved the msg. The ad backfired though) those not computer literate, blue collar workers who cling to their guns and religion. Working mothers…gee what have I missed?

        • Hope Floats

Biden would have told FDR to stand up.

        • BettsAZ

          Also offended:

          Our soldiers

Babies born alive after a botched abortion

          Governors and Mayors

      • kbdabear

Add that to Biden’s “stand up” comment to a guy in a wheelchair, and the Obama campaign will soon start bashing Trig in his ads. Since he and the MSM are already picking up stories from Kos and Power Glutes Sullivan, it wouldn’t be too low for them.

    • ddd242

      ever hear of a blackberry

    • Another Fred

Obama.. dissing veterans with disabilities while they were protecting our freedoms…

He really IS trying to lose, isn’t he?

      • Above My Pay Grade

He might subconsciously be trying to lose. I know he is one of the most arrogant individuals in history, but some part of him MUST realize how grossly unqualified he is, not only in experience, but in emotional makeup.

If the campaign continues to swing towards McCain and a mini-landside becomes evident, I can really see Barry pulling a Rick Lazio and disappearing for the last week or two, and blowing off his campaign headquarters on Election Night.

Maybe he will text message us his concession speech.

      • jwrjr

        Obama is certainly a loser.

    • kgirl1028

that is sick. what did obama plan to achieve with that one. does he not know people dislike him enough. I’m getting sick of obama, first pigs now McCains deformaties? good that man is a…they havent invented worlds bad enough for that.

  • lark

I too think that it is a brilliant comment. I essence that’s the kind of political sparing politicians should throw at each other; design to disarm your opponent and turn the campaign towards issues.

We cannot forget the fact that while we have been at this for a while, Palin just threw her very first solo punch.

If you understand that most of the time Obama is projecting his deficiencies on others, then you may want to look at the deficiencies Sarah is projecting to Barack here. What she is saying about Hillary she is saying about her. That Barack will find in her determination, grit, grace and that she’ll handled those criticisms well.

Poor Barack. He gets no breaks.

    • Ferd McBerfle

Poor Barack. He gets no breaks.

It isn’t as though he’s actually earned any, huh?

  • sandshark222

I’m sure you all know of Obama’s ad mocking McCain for not being able to use a computer. Well, take a look at this. How bad does this make the Messiah’s campaign look now?

    From the National Review:

    Wondering No More [Jonah Goldberg]

Yep. The day after 9/11, as part of its “get tough” makeover, the Obama campaign is mocking John McCain for not using a computer, without caring why he doesn’t use a computer. From the AP story about the computer illiterate ad:

“Our economy wouldn’t survive without the Internet, and cyber-security continues to represent one our most serious national security threats,” [Obama spokesman Dan] Pfeiffer said. “It’s extraordinary that someone who wants to be our president and our commander in chief doesn’t know how to send an e-mail.”

Well, I guess it depends on what you mean by “extraordinary.” The reason he doesn’t send email is that he can’t use a keyboard because of the relentless beatings he received from the Viet Cong in service to our country. From the Boston Globe (March 4, 2000):

McCain gets emotional at the mention of military families needing food stamps or veterans lacking health care. The outrage comes from inside: McCain’s severe war injuries prevent him from combing his hair, typing on a keyboard, or tying his shoes. Friends marvel at McCain’s encyclopedic knowledge of sports. He’s an avid fan – Ted Williams is his hero – but he can’t raise his arm above his shoulder to throw a baseball.

In a similar vein I guess it’s an outrage that the blind governor of New York David Patterson doesn’t know how to drive a car. After all, transportation issues are pretty important. How dare he serve as governor while being ignorant of what it’s like to navigate New York’s highways.

    09/12 06:42 PM

All I gotta say is wow. McCain is a true hero and Obama should be ashamed. Absolutely ashamed.

    • wodiej

Obama is an ASSWIPE. This is another indication of Obama’s immaturity and stupidity. Trying to appeal to younger voters about the friggin’ internet. Who gives a RATS ASS if the President can send an e-mail??!! I think what is more important is if he had leadership ability. Again, obvioulssly, Obama doesn’t.

God Bless John McCain and Sarah Palin on their journey to the White House. And God Bless America.

      • richasis

“Trying to appeal to younger voters…”

      Way to go Obama. Geesh.

I got your point Obama, you’re more qualified to be President then McCain because you can spam the in-boxes of our enemies and make their lives completely miserable. Always such a vital skill for a CIC.

    • Linda

I agree about McCain and the more we see him, the more down to earth he seems. He handled the barrage of questions from the ladies on the View quite well and he was almost endearing.

      • Above My Pay Grade

Yes, the “bad temper” meme has been blown to bits.

For him to respond so (overly) graciously to Whoopi Go;dberg’s idiotic “slavery” comment showed super human self control.

If idiotic comments could be made into an alternative power source, “The View” could provide us with energy independence. (And the DailyKos could power the rest of the world).

    • tek

Obama is just so used to hitting people below the belt and getting away with it because the Democrats refused to stand up for any other candidates and let Obama behave like a spoiled brat. He’s SPOILED all right. Stinky spoiled.

    • Another Fred

I think people from Daily-Kos are now making his commercials, since that one seems like it slithered it’s way out of that cesspool.

No he is to low to care…

      • Another Fred

He won’t apologize, he will just call his press to gather around and state something about “phony outrage” and “Enough is enough.”

And his press will obediently comply and change the subject for him.

      • Dan

Regardless of whether or not they knew that McCain’s war injuries make it tough for him to use a keyboard, it was a stupid ad anyway. The assertion that someone who doesn’t use e-mail doesn’t understand the internet or its importance to the economy is just absurd. Not to mention the fact that he’s probably alientated quite a few older voters out there by implying that if you don’t use the internet you’re a troglodyte, it has to be one of the worst political ads I’ve seen in a long time.

        • Above My Pay Grade

  • workingclass artist

Here’s my take….Folks see the common things that they admired in Clinton, Palin and John McCain….these things are beyond policies or parties. All 3 of these candidates are perceived as outsiders who took on their parties when they needed to…Who connect with the people in a real way….and who are able and willing to work and play well with others for a higher purposein the service of COUNTRY…
No Way In Hell Barky can touch that….it is genuine in HRC, Johnnie and Sarah…..It is what it is….and it cannot be taught or faked. it’s INTEGRITY….

    • wodiej

      I second that!!

EXACTLY, thats what I have said. I voted for Hillary Clinton for Senator from NY, and I voted in the NY Primary for her. I knew there was no way in hell I could vote for Obama. He doesnt get IT. And he doesnt want to.

I am working hard on my dad to vote. He plans on staying home. He really wanted Hillary. And he doesnt like McCain, and he doesnt use the computer either.

      • workingclass artist

It’s simple Patti…..Remind your Dad that history shows that some of our most important and effective presidents were independent thinkers…Often accused as Party Traitors because they did what they personally felt was right for the COUNTRY in response to a given situation….
        TR
        FDR
        Truman
        JFK
        LBJ
        GHWB
        WJC
Each of these presidents stood up to their parties when it counted for something greater…..I’m just sayin’

    • Above My Pay Grade

Yep, I was thinking the same thing watching Obama’s “Real Change” ad.

If you look into his eyes, you see there is nothing real there.

All that is there is selfish ambition, wrapped in pride, wrapped in vanity.

He can fake it reading a speech off a teleprompter in front of a big crowd, but when you see him up close in a one on one interview, he comes across souless.

  • http://mccaindemocrats.wordpress.com/ 30yrdem-not any more

Plus I read today that Bill Clinton only sent two e-mails while in office…and it said he is still off line to this day….no blackberry…nothin….

Donna Brazile, on the other hand, cannot separate herself from her blackberry.

Probably not a good idea for President’s to e-mail stuff because snoopers will always try to get to them — no privacy in them.

I adore that clip of Hillary looking through the curtains!

Cannot stand Arianna Huffington. She’s really a Republican, but couldn’t get elected to anything in the Republican Party. When TL started citing her articles, I left.

    • KC

      Very nice.

  • jjran

Where is Donna Brazile lately…… ???

Have seen or heard from her… would like to keep it that way…. seeing her puts me in a bad mood.

    • Arabella Trefoil

She’s helping Michelle arrange her Tupperware by color and size.

    • cal

She’s off somewhere filming the sequel to “Brazilla vs. Mothra.”

      • Hope Floats

LOL. That almost sounds like anime porn.

  • wodiej

I am just wondering, do the VP’s usually get grilled like this on what THEY plan to do in office? I mean, she did great but why aren’t they asking McCain??

    • DAB

I can’t recall Obama receiving such criticism early on for all of his missteps and lame answers in debates. Double standard all around.

      • OBushMA!

She’s a woman politician seeking to break an age old barrier, so she’s considered a foreign hostile entity and the media’s instinct is to compete for the glory of obliterating her. That’s the norm in this country as we have seen. If you are a man of whatever race who joins the old boys network, you get a pass, but a woman, watch out. However, McCain would not have picked her as his second-in-command if he didn’t think she could take the pressure and win.

  • cal

Palin knocked it outta the park again tonight. Be afraid obots, be very afraid.

      (snark)

  • Felizarte

Obama is down to his last card: ageism. Sexism, and racism have not taken him farther than the stacked primaries in his favor. Now he is attacking McCain for being older than he (because that is the implied message of his newest ad criticizing McCain for not being able to send ane-mail.

Why in the world would anyone aspiring to become president of the U.S. bother with fiddling with a rubic’s cube, or type on a computer?

    • http://mccaindemocrats.wordpress.com/ 30yrdem-not any more

plus the fact he physically can’t type…..his arms broken so many times….he is worse than Biden telling the guy in the wheel chair to stand up.

    wodiej,

biden was just on meet the press. That is what the vp is for. A 2nd spokesperons for the campaign.
Imo, they should forget about the media both of them.
They should both only go on fox news and the debates. Thats it.
Take it to the poeple. No one even cares about the media anymore. Their credibility is none.

    • Another Fred

I agree. The media as it should exist is non-existent now.

I don’t think god is taking sides this time, he/she didn’t hit BoBo’s greek columns with a bolt of lightning, so my guess is neutrality.

    • http://mccaindemocrats.wordpress.com/ 30yrdem-not any more

I agree, God does not choose sides.

    • nobonomo

Unless you consider Sarah Palin a bolt of lightning.

  • Patti

Well fox just identified my voting style, moderate coversative democrat. Must have something to do with the Irish Catholic parents. Growing up in a small rural town, and still live in that small town.

I think there might be quite a few us around. And those are the voters who will pull the lever for John McCain.

  • nobonomo

Sarah Palin would be awesome on SNL. I wonder if she will do it?

  • katmandu

    A new Obama ad: http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2008/09/barack-obama-at.html

It proceeds to ridicule the Republican [McCain] for his self-confessed inability to send e-mails and vague grasp of computers. And of course there is a picture of President Bush, looking a little goofy, standing next to McCain.

But, I wonder — read this from an old Boston Globe story:

McCain gets emotional at the mention of military families needing food stamps or veterans lacking health care. The outrage comes from inside: McCain’s severe war injuries prevent him from combing his hair, typing on a keyboard, or tying his shoes. Friends marvel at McCain’s encyclopedic knowledge of sports. He’s an avid fan – Ted Williams is his hero – but he can’t raise his arm above his shoulder to throw a baseball.

    • katmandu

      http://hotair.com/archives/2008/09/12/why-cant-mccain-email/

Update: Ed Morrissey is covering this in depth (I copied from him originally); and now he is updating as he gets more info.

The injuries he incurred as a Vietnam POW make it painful for McCain to type. Instead, he dictates responses that his wife types on a laptop. “She’s a whiz on the keyboard, and I’m so laborious,” McCain admits.

      • John House

I don’t know why, but the mental imagery of Cindy as John’s typist is very, very cute and endearing to me.

Sarah Palin is only angering progessives by trying to divide the Democrats. Her Clintons remarks were not well received.

    • http://medusa2.wordpress.com Medusa

The so-called “progressives” have hated Palin since she first appeared. True to their messiah’s “unity” message, they are at their best when name calling and foaming at the mouth.

If Democratic Underwear is mad, then Palin is doing something right.

    • KC

LOL. Obots are always angry. That’s part of being a dead-ender.

    • tek

So what, if someone compliments Hillary Clinton the Democrats take offense? Sheesh! You people are hopelessly inept at politics.

    • Donna Brazile hatin on Free Dumb, FranArse & What the SFu

      Free Dumb:

Just when I thought tonight was going to be boring. Free Dumb to the rescue to entertain me with her racist accusing and baby hating comments. I shouldn’t forget reveling in a childs agony as well.

Psst, free dumb, did you hear the new Obama rumor? Obama doesn’t really like kids.

      Stop the hate!

    • Peggy Sue

Sarah Palin didn’t need to divide the Democrats. The Democratic leadership did that wa-a-ay before Palin took the stage when they insisted on supporting a second tier candidate, said that HRC’s supporters would “fall in line,” said that they didn’t need the base–those weary deadenders, remember? The blue collar, lunch bucket brigade, disaffected women, seniors, those laughable rednecks from the Coal Belt and those inconsequential, mythical creatures: PUMAs.

Certainly, you remember the mantra: We can win without you. We don’t need you. Go straight to hell.

The Unity Pony was DOA. And no amount of smoke and mirrors can conjure a good result. No amount of ash cloth and ashes will turn it around.

Read the lousy polls and weep. You screwed your own empty candidate and he screwed you. The race card doesn’t work anymore. The sexist remarks are toxic. Ageism is turning into the new, ineffective insult. It doesn’t work anymore.

      Fools!

    • Another Fred

Not well received? By who? YOU?

    • Felizarte

      Freedom fighter:
Obama has divided the party; Palin is simply stating the obvious. But if it hurts, it is probably because it is true. I was all out for Hillary until May 31 and then definitely after the convention and the pretend roll call.

      • Dr. Kate

it just occurred to me that this is another subtle way to mock a narcissist–they cannot stand to be mocked. Palin basically mocked his decision to pick biden over hrc, and pointed out the obvious–his ego caused him to fail.

A man with such an ego like barky would be a lousy decision-maker for our nation.

    • Above My Pay Grade

      Freedom Fighter,

McCain/Palin are not targeting the Democratic Underground (are they an offshoot of Bill Ayers Weather Underground?)

The McCain/Palin campaign is appealing to REAL Democrats, traditional FDR, JFK, WJC Democrats, not the spoiled, lefist insurrgent children who have temporarily taken over the party.

On November 5th, after Barack goes down in defeat, the adult Democrats are going to put you in your place.

They (led by Hillary) are going to say, “We want your votes, but we cannot win by pandering to you. You WILL support moderate Democrats or get used to living under Karl Rove’s dream of a permanent Republican majority, because we are not giving into your threats any longer.”

Oh and Obama’s ageism ad was tre hip, right? McCain cannot type, did you read that above?

Hey, McCains ad was spot on. Disrespectful. You stay classy on the angry left freedom Fighter

    • Ani

Yes, the ad bashing McCain re the internet is going to go over about the same as as MoveOn.Org’s “General Petraeus or General Betray Us” ad…

      not so well.

  • moi61537

What a bizarre series of posts! I did wonder about the ad mocking McCain, his computer usage and his disability. What are the Democrats trying to do? Alienate the disabled and the elderly. What bigots they are? They need some diversity training.

    • Another Fred

At this rate McCain won’t even need much 527 Ad help.. Obama is swiftboating himself. .. not to mention Biden voting himself off the ticket.. and all of Obama’s supporters getting votes for McCain.. I get the feeling Obama would lose this election even if he was the only one running.

The Democrats have discovered the secrets of Rapid Growth Cloning.

Its the only explanation for why they are so hell bent on alienating so many segments of the population.

Right now in the corn fields of nebraska, millions upon millions of Obama Pod People are being grown on vines. Their pods are ripening and in 6 weeks they will be harvested and spread across this great nation and registered to vote.

Response from the Obama blog to the tacky ad criticizing Senator McCain’s disability:

By Barack Obama Baby 24 minutes ago (Updated 24 minutes ago)

He can lift his arms high enough to operate a keyboard. They even have voice recognition software so you don’t have to type for about $200 bucks. Surely he and his megabucks wife can afford that. So that’s a comment is irrelevant.

Re: The 1982 ad | Report to Admin Reply
By Mean Mr. from New York, NY 16 minutes ago (Updated 16 minutes ago)

That may be true, but I think that most casual viewers of that ad will not think that deeply. It is likely to be more harmful than helpful.

    http://my.barackobama.com/page/community/post/samgrahamfelsen/gG53SH/commentary

So apparently intelligent people understand that this is still a legitimate critique , just like intelligent people know that Senator Obama has no tendencies towards sexism, has never played the race card, just happens to live in Bill Ayers’ neighborhood, etc. etc,

  • JohninCA
    • IronMan

      Good news!

I also hear McCain’s numbers are rising in Washington state. Very close race there from latest polls.

  • IronMan

Sarah Palin is the vaccine for all those rapid Obamabots.

Their time is soon coming to an end and they are lashing out.

The Obamabots can’t stand it that another strong woman (first Hillary Clinton, now Sarah Palin) is kicking the bony little ass of their spineless Messiah.

  • IndyBoomer

They aren’t airing the World News tonight (6:30 PM) interview on ABC in the LA Market tonight because a local news story took precedence (a train wreck in L.A.). Is there a place to view it online?

  • Talk2ThePaw

I am beginning to believe that Obambi believes that he can win the election with the votes of the young and dumb and the 15 million illegals who will be registered to vote by ACORN, MoveOn.org and other “community organizers”. And these voters will be handed a slate of who to vote for in the lanuage of their choice. If Obambi wins this election there better be a major investigation of voter fraud and registrations checked for citizenship.

Who is left to vote for him other than the above?

Has anyone heard anything yet as to why MO did not feel it necessary to attend the 9/11 ceremony yesterday?

  • MoniQue

Obama steals the nomination from Hillary; then he doesn’t even bother to consider Hillary for VP? And takes the old dog on the porch (Biden) instead?

Obama full-on proved he has NO GOOD JUDGEMENT, period, end of story.

But does he regret not choosing Hillary as VP? NO! HE’S SO OUT OF TOUCH HE DOESN’T EVEN UNDERSTAND HE BLEW THE ELECTION BECAUSE OF ALL THE ABOVE.

But the truth is that MICHELLE OBAMA made it perfectly clear when she said “I will not share the white house with THAT woman [meaning Hillary].

    LET IT RAIN MCCAIN-PALIN 2008!

  • [CHANGE YOUR USERNAME]

Just saw 20/20. Palin was awesome.

    • John House

The interview was better on Nightline. They cut too much out of the 20/20 one, and the editing was horrible.

  • Brendy

Oh, I DEFINITELY think Obummer wishes he had chosen Hillary (even though he and esp. Missy MEchelle can’t stand her). He KNOWS that she (Hillary) could help him win the election. TOO BAD, SO SAD (not really – I’m LOVING it!)
