McCain or Obama–whichever is elected–should look for the best qualified people. Gender, race, etc, should not enter into their decisions, unless it comes down to a choice between equally qualified people.

It doesn’t surprise me in the least that Obama wouldn’t commit to gender parity. He shouldn’t have. I’d question the judgment of anyone who would.

Is anyone under the impression that McCain will pledge to appoint women to half of his cabinet?

No chance.

I mean, sure, I’m pro-McCain and all, but even I wouldn’t jump on this as a reason to vote for him. We just don’t have gender parity in the repubican party, yet. We’re working on it, but there aren’t enough women in our ranks for that kind of pledge. If you fill the cabinet to match the proportion of women in the pool, men would outnumber men more than 10 to 1.

Besides, republicans are against quotas, and we largely agree with Barak on this one. You can’t impose quotas on a cabinet.

Frizie, the review of the situation is not complete. Therefore there is no real summation or conclusion at this time.

The New York Times reporters have fallen for the latest theory of what it is to be a journalist, which is report your opinion, not the facts.

It used to be the other way around. We’d have to report the facts and only the facts. Opinions were only found on the editorial pages.

HA HA HA! The NY Times! It has sunk so low in it’s standards, I think it’s somewhere below US Magazine at this point. The Times is desperate to bring in revenue, because newspapers are becoming extinct, so it’s competing for traffic with HuffPo and DailyKos. “The Best News That’s Fit to Print” died a long time ago.
