Funny, when it’s all men, no one asks ‘where are the women?’ out of concern for genuine gender equality.

I greatly appreciate that this SNL season opened with the two leading comic women portraying the two most important US women leaders acting across party lines.

Another example of the hallucinatory media not able to attribute any blame to their Holy One and Biden. I thought the opening skit was cute, and not all that disrespectful.

Where it got disrespectful was during the “Weekend Update” portion. There was a clip about some “untested” “unqualified” quarterback (which earned him the nickname, Sarah Palin), and some weird not very funny clip about her “inappropriate billing” to “stay at home”… which was “mavricky” or something? I didn’t quite get it. It was just too much Palin Palin Palin. One joke would have been enough.

Obviously, Amy Poehler and Tina Fey are dems. They were Hillary supporters, and are credited with coining, “bitch is the new black” and asking people to “get on board” (with Hillary).

Obama is SUCH a godl mine of comedy, however…. that the absence of hard-hitting jokes about him this last episode just means we’re in for a looooong month and a half until the election, as the media desperately tries to play fourth line of defense for Obama.

Isn’t it interesting that year after year of the grossest misogyny against a Democrat (Hillary) was perfectly OK…but the same treatment of a Republican is, all of a sudden bad?

I have always been a fan of Ms. Greenberg’s ability to create a unique vision and lighting style. But this incident revealed her as someone who is both dishonest and without even a shred of professional responsibility.

Just because you are capable of doing something does not make it right to do so. The placement of the “fake” light coming in from up high shows her intent was dishonest — she was trying to deceive everyone else involved with the shoot.

I have been a lighting photographer for over 20 years. I teach lighting at Strobist.com. And I would not have noticed that an overhead beauty dish (complete with shining modeling light) was not firing in the midst of a few thousand watt-seconds going off.

Ms. Greenberg probably loathes this kind of duplicitous behavior when it is displayed by politicians. How is she any better than the worst of them?

Worse, the constructed images she is since publishing on her website, “Manipulator,” are clearly display malice and might expose her to libel in spite of McCain’s status as a public person.

Ironically, if this gets picked up by the (non-photo) mainstream media, it will be incorrectly held up as an example that all journalists are hatchet people, out to get a favored candidate elected.

Which, of course, would serve to galvanize McCain’s supporters and get them to the polls in November. My guess is that Ms. Greenberg did not think this far ahead while rubbing her hands in glee. This may be the most stupid, dishonest thing I have ever seen a photographer do.

From here on, next time you shoot a politician be ready to produce your voter registration card to show your are “the right kind of person” and have every image reviewed by his or her handlers before you can leave with your photos.

Ms. Greenberg has just managed to smear an entire industry in fifteen minutes. Thanks a lot, Jill.

Greenberg also crowed that she had tricked McCain into standing over a strobe light placed on the floor – turning the septuagenarian’s face into a horror show of shadows.

Asking McCain to “please come over here” for a final shot, Greenberg pretended to be using a standard modeling light.

“He had no idea he was being lit from below,” Greenberg said, adding that none of his entourage picked up on the light switch either. “I guess they’re not very sophisticated,” she said.

The Atlantic opted not to use the distorted McCain shot on its cover, selecting instead a more straightforward portrait.

“We stand by the picture we are running on our cover,” said Atlantic editor James Bennet. “We feel it’s a respectful portrait. We hope we’ll be judged by that picture.”

But Bennet was appalled by Greenberg saying she tried to portray McCain in an unflattering way.

“We feel totally blind-sided,” he said. “Her behavior is outrageous. Incredibly unprofessional.”

Greenberg later decided to use some of the images she was assigned to take to make a political statement.

Her Web site now features a series of Photoshopped pics of McCain in some highly unflattering poses – including one that has a monkey squirting dung onto the Republican candidate’s head.

Another one reads “I am a bloodthirsty warmongerer,” with McCain retouched to have needle-sharp shark teeth and a vicious grin, while licking blood-smeared lips.

Greenberg was unapologetic about the assignment.

My wife isn’t politically inclined, like me, but she’s very proud of my judgment in supporting Hillary and Sarah, not being a party-line voter, and judging them on their character and intelligence. Seriously though, I support these women as much as I might support a good-looking male candidate over an ugly male candidate. Appearance and attractiveness are an important part of popularity. Would Obama be nearly as effective if he had the looks of Leon Spinks? Or might we respect him more if he had the looks of Colin Powell or James Earl Jones?

So, back to topic, featuring John McCain in ghoulish lighting is the same exact kind of crap they did to Hillary, running contests online to find pictures showing her goofiest expressions and worst moments. It’s demonizing, mocking, and distorting their images to portray them “in a bad light” so to speak.

I asked them why is it that liberal women can careers, be vocal about their body choices and have strong feelings about issues but Republican women can not. The face just to the right of McCain’s is Paulie Abeles who set up the meeting and made it possible for me and my wife to attend. Lynette Long was also there but I don’t know if she’s pictured. That seems to be the new strategy here. There have been dozens of articles, essays and statements from “feminist” roups lately. “We love ballsy women,” and Sarah Palin is an admirable role model, but just wrong for the country. So what kind of role model would she be, if she never got to the White House?

Shirley Chisolm was an admirable role model. How many people besides stamp collectors can tell you who she is? Everyone remembers the anti-war eloquent speech-giver underqualified liberal who the party nominated instead – McGovern went down in history as the biggest election defeat of all time.

They had a problem with Hillary, because she was no longer new. She was part of the problem, divisive, polarizing. Her husband got her where she is.

Then Sarah Palin is polarizing, divisive, like Hillary, too ambitious. Since she is too new, then she hasn’t done anything. Even though she’s as qualified if not more so than most of the candidates on either party’s short list for VP’s.

It has to stop. I’m glad Palin keeps bringing up the glass ceiling and driving home the historic nature of her own candidacy. Because the Dems and their friends in the media think a woman in the White House is no big deal. They have always been there as wives and mistresses; a woman’s proper place is cheering on the men. I like Sarah Barracuda for that reason. She won’t just sit down and shut up.

It has nothing to do with victim mentality. Democrats didn’t defend Hillary because of their sexism. That’s all.

I’m a democrat who will vote for Barack Obama come November. I’ve always supported the Clintons. I would vote for Hillary in any future presidential bid. What was great about this is about 100 people showed up yesterday for him. In August/2003 he had 25,000 people show up for him in Westlake park in downtown Seattle.

The local news media played it up like this – Dean had to come to Seattle to tell the Democratic faithful that everything is fine. He basically said, “No worries folks, nothing to see here… move along. Keep sending your money to the DNC and Obama – We are not losing – we have to win.” The story was followed with the latest statewide poll numbers showing suport for Obama/Biden dropping from 56% to 49% while McCain/Palin support went up from 39% to 45% from June through September 8th. Our Democratic Governor (Christine Gregoire) also looks like she may lose this fall. She was a very last minute supporter of Obama.

All is not well in Washington state for the Democrats who did not support Hillary.

I believe 52% of voters are female. My mother in her late 70′s (and probably many other older females – the largest voting block) thinks this may be her last opportunity to vote for a female on the ticket, so she’s voting for McCain/Palin. They would have preferred to vote for Hillary, but when they see 95% of AA’s voted for Barack Obama, they got the message that they could vote for someone just like them, too.

Back to the point: When African Americans have the political clout to get Don Imus fired, Fuzzy Zeller fired, and so on, they clearly have considerable political power. (For the record, such racist assholes should be fired.)

When African Americans can paint Bill Clinton, who has one of the best civil rights records, BLACK or WHITE, of ALL TIME, who was called by Nobel Laureate Toni Morrison as “the first black president… blacker than any black person…“, then they obviously have tremendous political power. And for them to also nitpick every little (innocent and factually correct) comment by Hillary, Geraldine Ferraro, Ed Rendell, etc., and ignore “typical white person”, ignore “They’re bitter…antipathy towards others who are not like them… antipathy towards immigrants…”, defend Jeremiah Wright, etc., Etc., ETC.

This is blatant racism whether you use the normal definition of racism or the liberal definition of racism.
