The NAACP Resolves: You Tea Partiers Are A Bunch Of Racists!!! UPDATED

Especially if you consider yourself a Tea Party member. Yep, the day after Michelle Obama went and hung out with the NAACP leadership, the NAACP declared the Tea Party one big bunch of racists. All right, they said maybe it wasn’t ALL Tea Party members, just the ones who want to return to “the pre-civil rights era.” Oh, you know I am not making this up.

Michelle Obama did a little more than hang out with the NAACP, though. She gave the keynote address at their convention. Oh, and she knew the resolution charging the Tea Party with racism was being planned. Raise your hand if you are surprised she went ahead with the keynote speech anyway. * Crickets * Yeah, that’s what I thought.

Back to the NAACP. Apparently, they think people are racist if they dare to not acquiesce to everything Obama says, wants, does, and that he, unlike every other president we have ever had, must be free of any kind of disagreement or discord. If anyone dare oppose a massively expensive healthcare law, or oppose the rapid expansion of government under Obama, then, of course, they are racists.

Okay, okay, the NAACP did walk it back just a tiny bit when they acknowledged maybe ALL Tea Partiers are not racists, but not by much:

The NAACP passed a resolution Tuesday night condemning Tea Party activists, or at least some Tea Party activists, as racists who want “to push our country back to the pre-civil rights era.”

Tea Party groups across the country have vehemently denied that charge, calling Tuesday’s resolution a hypocritical act on the part of the NAACP — which has traditionally fought against stereotypes.

In a session that was closed to the media, the resolution that ultimately passed was toned down, according to the NAACP, to just “ask the Tea Party itself to repudiate the racist elements and activities of the Tea Party.” An original draft appeared to suggest — and many Tea Party leaders inferred — that the resolution accused the entire movement of being motivated by racial concerns.

“We take no issue with the Tea Party movement,” NAACP President and CEO Benjamin Todd Jealous said in a statement released late Tuesday night, after the vote. “We believe in freedom of assembly and people raising their voices in a democracy. What we take issue with is the Tea Party’s continued tolerance for bigotry and bigoted statements.”

Nonetheless, the St. Louis Tea Party is calling for the civil rights group to lose its tax-exempt status. “The NAACP is closely aligning with a partisan political campaign strategy,” said Bill Hennessy, a leader of the St. Louis Tea Party. [snip]

Interestingly, though, it isn’t just Tea Party members who are making this claim about the NAACP’s being a political tool for a partisan ideology. Some black activists are also making that claim as this press release highlights:

[snip] “As a frequent speaker at tea party rallies around the country, I can assure the NAACP that the tea party movement’s concerns are about President Obama’s policies and not his race,” said Project 21 fellow Deneen Borelli. “I’m deeply concerned that the NAACP is being used as a political tool to do the dirty work of the progressive movement. Instead of criticizing tea parties, the NAACP would be better served denouncing the racist comments made by a member of the New Black Panther Party and their voter intimidation outside a Philadelphia polling place in the last presidential election.” (Emphasis mine.)

According to a report in the Kansas City Star, the NAACP, which is conducting its 101st annual convention in that city, will take up a resolution as early as Tuesday to urge “all people of good will to repudiate the racism of Tea Parties, and to stand in opposition to its drive to push our country back to the pre-civil rights era.”

[snip]

Project 21′s Borelli added: “I urge the delegates to read the Contract from America – a list of policy objectives for Congress that was developed by tea party members nationwide. These objectives are clearly about limited government and liberty. In fact, the NAACP should be very concerned Obama’s cap-and-trade energy policy will lead to higher energy prices and higher unemployment – particularly among poor and minority households.” [snip]

Evidently, the NAACP failed to investigate these “racist” signs. Had they, they would have known that these were infiltrators into the party to discredit them. A simple Google search brings up a host of articles. It isn’t like the infiltrators were exactly clandestine in their actions, either.

I am just weary of the charge that everyone who does not buy what Obama is selling lock, stock, and barrel, who does not give him their utmost devotion, and sworn allegiance, is a racist. And now the NAACP is painting an entire group with a broad brush while ignoring the racist behavior of groups like the New Black Panther Party. Telling. Very telling indeed.

I guess we’re getting our “Change” after all, don’t you think?

UPDATE: NQ regular, Teakwood Kite, asked me about a video from a previous post that showed a number of African Americans present at a Tea Party. I don’t know if this is the one he meant, but the people speaking out here are pretty freakin’ awesome:

  • HEP-T

    N.A.A.C.P.
National Assocation of Colored People is in it self a racist orginization which declares it works ONLY for people who are non white.
    This is racism.

  • HC123

The NAACP can go jump off a cliff, and take NOW with it.

  • oowawa

NAACP–How come it hasn’t changed its name to NAABP?

Would NAAWP be a racist organization?

    We’re post-racial nowadays, right?

  • Cindy

Rev. Amy—Thank you for the post.
As I said last week, until not too long ago, I was a card-carrying member of the NAACP.  But they are still, as of yesterday, sending me emails, even though I have asked three times to be removed from their email list.
If I get another email from them, I’m going to play the race card. That’s right…. I will tell them that I’m WHITE! If  that doesn’t remove me from their email list, nothing will!

  • oowawa

Mmmmm–they’ll just think you’re trying to “pass” Cindy.  You’ll still get e-mails.

  • Cindy

    LOL! oowawa!

  • oowawa

    The secret’s out . . .

  • Peggy Sue

I think this is pretty sad myself because the NAACP has accomplished a lot a good things in the past, but this ain’t one of them. They seem stuck in the glory days.

Making a blanket charge of racism against the Tea Party as a group, simply because the membership rejects the policies of Barack Obama leads to more division, stirs the pot and makes the NAACP appear snall and irrelevant, in the same way Jessie Jackson often sounds, falling back on the old memes of 40 years ago.

It seems particularly obnoxious when the New Black Panther leader Shabazz has given multiple interviews recently, excusing blatant racist remarks by a NBP member [the man should have chosen his words more carefully] and having the gall to say Geraldo is a race traitor to his own people [on Geraldo's show, nonetheless].  There was a moment when I thought Geraldo was going to grab the man by the neck.  Which I think is absolutely purposeful: to provoke, enrage and cloud out all other issues.

Not a proud day for the organization.  Lots of sad days in the country anymore.

OH!!!  Thank GODDESS!  Finally, some HUMOR!!!

What, NAACP wasn’t trying to be funny?  OOPS!!!!

They, like all of Barry’s others supporters, AND BARRY and MO themselves, are living in the past, intentionally.  Now we know why Barry kept talking about politics of the past.  That was the card he had in his back pocket!

I still do not understand the thought processes of a group who has the word “advancement” in it’s title, thinks branding the Tea Party folks racist is advancing anything for “colored people.”

These idiots can’t grasp the simple fact that many of these individuals were called racist to begin with and that is one of the motivating reasons they are where they are…Tea Party members.

Rev. Amy..I went looking for a post you did awhile back with videos of some very intelligent and insightful Americans of african desent, attending a Tea Party. For hindsight contrast it would be interesting to see again.
It has taken not but a few months to propagate the “race card” from Obama to this venerable but currently lost organization.

Oh yea regarding MO, you recall her thesis at Princeton? Oh yeah, baby! She love her some New Black Panther. YUM!

  • TeakWoodKite

Damn, then it has to be true! Is that like being a card carrying member of the ACLU?

  • felizarte

Ditto, Kafir!  And why couldn’t we just go by being human beings?  That to be honest about it, with one or more prejudices we carry around because of environment and experiences but to stop short of taking action on the basis of unproven perceived wrongs?  That everybody is entitled to feel proud of their identity and to accept the fact that the same goes to everyone else?

If Africans have the right to be proud, so do the Chinese, Japanese, Malays, Anglos, Scandinavians, Slavs, etc.  We ought to think in terms of “We” instead of “us” and “them”.

I’d rather we thought in terms of giver every time and taker every time; being part of the solution instead of part of the problem.  The answers pointing to a better way are all there for us to see, if only we want to.

These “racism” rhetoric is absurd; counterproductive, insane.  Enough already.

The NAACP is no longer a civil rights organization.  It is a social justice organization according to Julian Bond.
Playing the race card will only hurt minorities in the long run.  When something racist really does happen no one will believe it or care.

Teakwood, I will see if I can find that post and provide the videos.  Thank you!

You said it abt MO – this kind of thing must be right up her alley.

But here’s the problem as someone pointed out on another post – Obama is supposed to be the president of ALL Americans, and not for nothing, is HALF WHITE.  I wonder why it is that he seems to have such callous disregard for the people who reared him, clothed him, and sent him to expensive schools?  Just wondering…

  • Jackie

According to NQ, discussing racism is racist.  I guess this makes NQ pretty racist, as we’ve had 4 posts on racism in the last 2 days.  What’s with the race obsession, NQ?

“When something racist really does happen no one will believe it or care.”

And that’s the real problem with all this fingerpointing.  When everything is deemed racist then nothing is racist.  You dilute the word and cancel it out.  And yes, it’s the boy who cried wolf.  When the real wolf comes snarling at the door, no one will believe it. Or worse yet, no one will care.

  • Cindy

Ya know, when Jesus Christ himself compared Gentiles to dogs, it didn’t make me wanna go out and buy a flea collar (I’m Gentile)……..and by the same token (pardon the pun), when the NAACP and Obama’s administration and others call me racist  because I’m white, it doesn’t make me wanna go out and buy a white sheet and pointy white hood.

Lest we all forget, the Tea Party started as a protest against TARP – an objection to handing over nearly a trillion dollars of public money  to the compulsive gamblers who engineered the economic collapse while hundreds of thousands of Americans were losing their jobs every week. How anyone could term that “racist” is beyond me. I fail to see how bailing out billionaires while working class people are losing their homes and livelihoods has anything to do with advancing the cause of tolerance and equality. There are quite enough real bigots in this world -  using the term to scapegoat your political opponents is just contemptible.

    Tea Party Preempts ‘Racist’ Resolution,

A Tea Party group in Missouri, reacting to the NAACP’s plan to take up a resolution branding the conservative movement as “racist,” has drafted a resolution of its own condemning the civil rights group for reducing itself to a “bigoted” and “partisan attack dog organization.”

The St. Louis Tea Party had an all-hands-on-deck response to the NAACP’s plan to denounce the nationwide network of activists at its annual convention across the state in Kansas City. The NAACP as early as Tuesday could take up language to “repudiate the racism of the Tea Parties….

Obama’s economic policy reminds me of a Star Trek episode where the Enterprise almost got destroyed when the captain kept saying “more power to the shields” until a rescued boy from another ship recounted the dialogue on the bridge prior to the destruction of his ship.

In obama’s case it is:  ”more debt!/bailouts/spending!”  He is calling on Bill Clinton to give him ideas this week.  Who knows?  Maybe Bill Clinton would let him sign a promissory note that says bo will not run for reelection in 2012.

Two things:  If there was a NAAWP in this country it would be all over ‘cept the shoutin’.  I thought we were going for equality here, no?  This pot is boiling over and that’s not an altogether bad thing.  Maybe all this news coming out of the DOJ, the NAACP, the NBPP and the besieged Tea Party will bring this whole discussion of equality to a head.  Maybe then we’ll get to actually see where mo, bo and “The New Democratic Coalition” is really heading.  That will go down well before November.

    =======================
Sounds like they’re propagating an unknowable fact here. I think racism should be repudiated everywhere, including that which may reside in parts of the NAACP.

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

You said it, Diana, and well indeed.

Okay – these cracker names are making me HUNGRY.  Must be dinner time…

  • PortiaElizabeth

oowawa — we don’t want to lose this pearl of wisdom from deae Jackie:

“According to NQ, discussing racism is racist.  I guess this makes NQ pretty racist, as we’ve had 4 posts on racism in the last 2 days.  What’s with the race obsession, NQ?”

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

Oh, Ferd, Ferd, Ferd – why would they go and do something like that?  How could they make a blanket condemnation if they actually produced some actual Tea Partiers?  Sheesh!  :)

  • felizarte

Yes, KK Multigrain.  Slaves–people who build their own jails with invisible bars only they can see.  Sad.

  • oowawa

I’m sick of people accusing rabbits of being racist . . .

  • Samb

The Obama administration is simply afraid of the Tea Party Movement, because they have shown influence during the elections before (Scott Brown) the Obama’s and their followers are mobilizing the their base, I feel that the Obama’s are going to play even dirtier politics this time, fraud and intimidation are just the tipping point.
Everyday i see more and more the race card being played in the media which
makes me believe that this is not a coincidence.  The Obama’s are using race
as a power play there has to be more to this?

My crystal ball is working better today.

  • oowawa

    I don’t know Portia–I’m mostly animal myself–I’m kind of prejudiced against humans . . .

  • Objective Analysis

NAACP has been taken over by the hard left.  Goodness they gave Van Jones a medal last year.  Truther, Commie, Maoist, heck, I don’t know what else to believe.

But, this might be all smoke and mirrors to hide the fact that the NAACP Legal Defense Fund (and possibly the NAACP) lobbied for the Black Panthers case to be dismissed by the Obama DOJ Administration.

Well, they have lost their way.  This former member WILL NOT RENEW HER MEMBERSHIP EVER AGAIN.  This is worse than Ben Chavis stealing all their money and now he is part of Farrakahn’s Black Muslim Movement.

Just had to save that one, in case something happens to make it disappear.  A classic!  Missed you, Freedom Fighter!

Rev. Amy, sadly at no time was I under any illusion that BO would be a President of all Americans. He let people freeze in a Chicago winter and defended Rezko, who was the cause of the problem….Kinda told me where his priorities were at.

Thanks for the vid, I will have to watch it after work. I wish we had a person such as him to vote for here  in the CA 6th but no……

….the video I was thinking of was one gentlelady and one gentleman American both of african desent, being interview as to if they were detecting any racism in the Tea Party rally gathering. Philly?

    several months back…
(“American both of african desent”.. is that to PC? or is OK to be really tired of racial identification preceding national identity?)

  • Ferd Soda Cracker Berfle

This organization has done a LOT of good over the years, but this kind of thing is completely designed to divide and label with the word for which there is little defense.
    ===================
IMO, the NAACP is an organization that is in need of issues to keep itself relevant. Insinuating that there is a potential racist behind every door is one means of doing just that. To castigate an entire group over the alleged actions of a very few is the height of bigotry, which by any other name would be… racism.

  • helenk

All this race baiting and refusing to enforce certain laws by the democratic government in power has made me ashamed and embarrassed to ever say i was a democrat for so many years.

I lived in Philadelphia during the 1960s , I remember the riots and violence.
This is not the democratic party I believed in and supported. To even think about going back to those days is sick.
Most ot the people who are promoting this will never pay the consequences of their acts. They will probably make money on it. The fools that carry out the programs will pay dearly. They don’t have the daddy like ayers to cover there asses

    Government gives go-ahead to
    BP’s ‘integrity test’ on well
CNN, by John King    Original Article

    7/14/2010

New Orleans, Louisiana – The first part of BP’s “integrity” test on the new cap on its crippled oil well in the Gulf of Mexico is under way. Senior Vice President Kent Wells says the middle ram of the three-ram stack on the new cap has closed. That’s an initial step in the process of testing pressure in the well. The move follows instructions from the U.S. government to proceed with the integrity test. It’s hoped the tests will show whether the well, which has been spewing oil for 86 days, finally can be contained — either by closing the new

There’s a growing resistance already. People are sick to death of the race card trumping everyone else’s political freedom of speech. In the end, however, this is about the ELECTION.

The Democrats fear that their base is so demoralized because of the economy and the low Obama approval ratings, that they won’t come out to vote in November. They had to strategize; they had to employ their tried and true tactics with their base. So, the NAACP invites the First Lady to come speak, to rile up emotions; and the NAACP decides to play the race card against the Tea Party, to gin up the STRUGGLE again, you know, get the blood goin’, get the brothers and sisters to the POLLS!

And, Gibbsie, over at the White House Briefing Room, played his part in the strategy, too, when he announced that the GOP would take over the House in November! He was trying to get the BASE out to vote, gin up a little excitement, get the blood goin’ amongst the rank and file Democratic voters!

Only problem for Gibbsie is the Democrats in Congress took exception to it, and instead of letting it work for them; the stupid morons wept and wailed and gnashed their incisors over it, and took Gibbsie to task, until he cried out “uncle!”

The NAACP doesn’t care about the Tea Party, and they know damn well the vast majority of the people who support what the Tea Party stands for aren’t “racists.”

It’s about GETTING OUT THE VOTE.

But, I don’t think it will work. I think the American people, if they come out to vote at all, will vote for Republicans or Independents in November.

I SO no longer give a damn about being called a racist.  They call Bill Clnton one, and he’s in Haiti trying to improve black people’s lives. Meanwhile, a bunch of rich white liberals who voted for Obama but who would shit their pants if they had to sit next to a bunch of working black and Hispanic people on public transportation aren’t?

If Bill’s a racist, then I can wear the label proudly.  “Racist” apparently now means “actually works toward racial equality instead of just mouthing off about it when my wealthy liberal friends are listening in.”

    Black Tea Party Spokesperson
    Rebukes NAACP Resolution

    by Lloyd Marcus

    Original Article

    7/14/2010

I’m re-reading a book I read several years ago titled “Beyond Defeat” by a wonderful black civil rights pioneer, James E. Johnson. To quote Johnson, “…there are only two things that motivate people: One is fear, and the other is love”. In the early 50s, Johnson’s journey as a civil rights trail blazer began when he became the first black U.S. Marine Corps NCO (Snip) The NAACP Resolution proclaiming the Tea Party Movement to be racist is motivated by hate and fear. Though well disguised in intellectual rhetoric, underneath festers hate and fear. Along with their underlying resentment of whites ….

    Obama’s Media Stall Out

Not so long ago, Barack Obama was revered as a veritable messiah come in the nick of time to save a country from itself and retrieve America’s image in the hearts and minds of a skeptical world. Europe loved Obama and America adored him. He was cool, hip, suave and up-tempo, his nomination campaign the political equivalent, say, of a McLaren-Mercedes racing car with the beauty of forced induction and adjustable dampers. He was post-Bush, which for car aficionados is like being post-Bangle. He was The Man, a Formula One race driver…

Oh, wait….. they assimilated and worked hard and got ahead and became American.  I guess that’s why they’re not in our faces.  Shoot.  I really wanted some diversity in the country’s discussion….  Same old Same old is getting boring….

Oh, why can’t we just all be AMERICANS!  We have to tell the powers that be to STOP manipulating us with all this race talk!  Who cares?  I don’t care the slightest what color someone is.  I DO care about their appearance, their lifestyle, their work ethic, their compassion, etc.  Their cheating in politics.

Did Michelle also know the NAACP just endorsed recreational pot in California. Is that why Obama said he approved abortions because he said he didn’t want his daughters to make a mistake and have to pay for it with a pregnancy?

You know what NAACP approved recreational pot does to inhibitions in young people, eh Michelle. But this now has your blessings even though you won’t let Barry smoke in the Whitehouse you now agree it is okay to smoke dope in California.

Just wanted to know what you were standing for when you stood before the NAACP without a protest about what they are doing to our state and our children. Smoke it out your ear, Michelle

Machiavelli said the same thing in “The Prince”.  He said that fear that a prince can inspire is more reliable it can be instilled in the people with actions from the prince.  Love is more powerful, to the point where subjects are willing to die for their prince; but quite unreliable because it depends on the people’s reaction to the proper stimuli. Paraphrased.

Unfortunately, a majority of the voters have fallen out of love with Obama.  They are quickly moving from anger to indifference where they no longer listen to his “orations.”  If Gibbs and the NAACP are trying to evoke fear by raising the spectre of a Republican controlled house,  they should realize that by now, a worse spectre is two more years of an incopetent Obama controlled Executive and Legislative branches.

    Helen:
I’m a tea partier.  Why?  Because when a guy on the floor of the Chicago exchange yelled that Americans should act like the tea partiers in Boston to STOP this spending, I said, “HELL YEAH”.

The tea parties are about stopping government spending.
    Government taxation.
Government intervention into our personal lives.
And the death of the free market that made this country what it is today.

There was no mention of RACE in any event I have ever attended.
    NEVER. NOT ONCE.

This Allinsky tactic used by Obama(you know damn well this is directed by the White House, or Michelle wouldn’t have attended the NAACP event)
is going to backfire on him.
We are SICK of the race card being used when the American people just want their representatives(of both parties) to do their jobs, and LISTEN TO THEIR CONSTITUENTS.
Both the Republicans and Democrats have forgotten that WE pay their checks, and they work for US.

The racism card has now become a JOKE.
    THANKS, Barrack, you race baiter!

  • kenoshamarge the cracked cracker

Evidence? Who needs evidence? Just call someone, some organization “racist” and then sit back and laugh while they spend all their time and energy defending themselves from a spurious claim.

The problem is when this tactic is over-used. Then it can cause a backlash. I think, I hope, that is what will now happen. People of character, who gives a crap about their color, will ignore or deplore this kind of race-baiting.

I haven’t read all the comments, so if someone’s already mentioned this, my apologies.

I heard Kevin Jackson, founder of The Black Sphere and author of “The BIG BLACK Lie” as a guest on a local radio show last night.  He said that The Black Sphere (in conjunction with some other groups?) is going to file a slander suit against the NAACP.  I hope they do.  I tried to find a link to that show, but couldn’t.  Here’s a link to their website.  You should also check out their radio show site.

I’m trying to figure out how to get there, too.  It’s sure to be a really great experience to be with so many who are going to honor our war dead and reclaim honor in America.  For those of you who’ve never been to a Tea Party rally, strongly recommend it.  It does feel good to be involved with positive people whose only rant is on issues, not made-up spin.

There is good news and bad news.
White southerners are labeled as racists from cradle to grave. The remaining segments of the country will adapt over time!
BO will serve either 2 or 6 more years. Predictions have been that whites will be minorities by 2020. Amnesty will accelerate that.
The democrats won without voters here, and have passed their agenda without our support, so we are innocent. Republicans will not likely be twisting any arms here either.
    Free at last!

Ferd:  Actually, every single incident of so-called racism within the Tea Party has been hunted to ground and found to be bogus.  There is still a $100,000.00 prize that has gone unclaimed for evidence of the name calling/spitting incident at the rally in D.C.  Still no takers.  And I’m guessing there are a lot of people out there who could use that kind of bank.  And anyone who’s ever carried any true racist signs or made racist remarks have been identified as plants.  so if the KC Star is complicit in carrying the NAACP’s message, it is guilty of yellow journalism, as is any other news org that takes the NAACP’s word for it.  Especially since everything is so well documented.

What makes me mad is the amnesia surrounding the finger-biting incident, the fellow who was beat up by SEIU thugs, and other violence (or word and deed) that has been done Tea Party members.  And we can go all the way back to the bruises on some of the women thrown out of the RBC meeting.  Ah, good times.  Good times…

Yes, I prefer a female representation for my own spiritual needs, and because I grew up Catholic, she ws my first introduction to the “Goddess”, concept. I don’t go to church/temple/circle or mass unless invited by a friend. I am mostly a pantheist with native american traditions mixed in as well. There is so much on that spiritual table, I just love tasting all the dishes.

NAACP: We didn’t call tea party ‘racist’

NAACP President Ben Jealous said Thursday that the resolution passed by the group on Wednesday does not call the tea party “racist.” (Snip) A portion of the resolution does indeed characterize the behavior as “racist,” but Jealous said Thursday during an interview on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” that the resolution was not intended to condemn the entire movement as such. “We aren’t saying that the tea party is racist,” Jealous said. “What we’re saying is that with their increasing power comes an increasing responsibility to act responsibly…

NAACP Direct Tie to Black Panthers

    Washington Times,
    by Quin Hillyer

    Original Article

    7/15/2010

In the past 24 hours, more than a few pundits and writers have noted that the NAACP resolution accusing Tea Partiers of racism is hard to swallow when the NAACP seems unconcerned with the New Black Panther voting intimidation case. Their points would be valid by analogy only. Their points are even more valid, though, because of a direct, rather than just analagous, tie between the NAACP and the Panther case. It was first reported here at the Washington Times that “Kristen Clarke, director of political participation at the NAACP Legal Defense Fund in Washington, however,

Racism still exists in this country, but the overwhelming problem is being poor to middle class. The American ideal that one can study and work hard to acheive their goals lifting themself out of their circumstances is dying in this country.  We had govvernment programs that helped with secondary education and low interest loans so that those of us who can remember took advantage of them. We can remember when we had school nurses instead of school police.  We actually had jobs that paid well for those who entered technical schools or worked in a craft. We are the most productive workers on the planet.  We are earning less than we did 10 years ago. We have seen the wealtheir get wealthier.  We have seen their corruption and raping of the economy go unpunished.
The landscape of this country and its founding beliefs are in jeopardy. People are angry.  It is more than racism.  The best thing for the system to continue on its path of destruction is for the people to be divided over these  “non-issues”.    I am not a Tea Party Supporter.  There is alot of anger, but not much direction.  Paying taxes is not the problem in this country.  The problem is who is paying taxes and who isn’t paying taxes.  We have been subsidizing business in corporate welfare for too long.  Oil comapnies only pay a 9 percent coprorate tax cmpared to 25 percent.  We make up the difference.  Larger companies can create shell companies in off shore tax havens moving their profits to a non-tax status.  We pay for that too.  None of the “business friendly” corporate welfare policies have benefitted the American worker.  We have fewer jobs for less money while our taxes still go to subsidize their CEO’s salaries.
Now politicians want us to choose on what social programs we want to cut.  That is a non-choice and a diversion.  Those are not the only choices we have to make and being pigeon holed into limitiing the options is treasonous.  This is the only time in history that this country engaged in a war and did not raise taxes to pay for that war.  If we want to pursue the war in Afghanistan and Iraq, then taxes need to be raised to pay for it.  If not then bring the troops home. Get rid of the waste and glut in the Pentagon budget.  Is the department of Homeland Security really an efficient use of tax-payers money or is just some governmental waste of tax payers dollars where the right hand still doesn’t know what the left hand is doing?

New Orleans – BP says oil from its broken well has stopped gushing into the Gulf of Mexico for the first time since April. The announcement Thursday came after company officials said all valves had been shut on a new cap over the busted well in an experiment to stop the spill. Kent Wells, a BP PLC vice president, said at a news briefing that oil stopped flowing into the water at 2:25 p.m. CDT. It was a long-awaited milestone in one of the nation’s worst environmental disasters. (Snip) The cap is not a permanent fix. BP is drilling two relief ….

When has Obama done anything to help anyone in the last 18 months ??? I see the oil has stopped gushing, but the political bullshit is flowing freely as ever >
