Perhaps the WWII part is true, just the name of his father is a lie.

In unguarded moments, people often forget the 'script'.

Malcolm X: Probably had a lower than normal IQ say around 70 to75 or he ( Malcolm X) didn't test well because of a socio-emotional disorder interfering with his testing capabilities. Perhaps he said things that made him untrustworthy.

Hey, if Obama can't get his story straight about WHO exactly served in WWII, what makes you think he's telling the truth about WHO his dad is?

Frank Marshall Davis:

(I have been unable to find any reference to military service for Davis.)

"Davis used his newspaper platform to call for integration of the sports world, and he began to engage himself with community organizing efforts, starting a Chicago labor newspaper, The Star, toward the end of World War II. In 1945, he taught one of the first jazz history courses in the United States, at the Abraham Lincoln School in Chicago."

---------
Malcolm X:

"Military physicians classified him as "mentally disqualified for military service". He was issued a 4-F card, relieving him of his service obligations."

There is more of casual, chatty, jokey atmosphere - either that or you are may get subjected to a huge flaming. Not being much of a socialite myself I only try to put something up if I have something meaningful to contribute to. You can try the same. :)

I haven't been there for two yrs+/-. It's still shocking to see the lack of substance in some of the comments here. NQ was a refuge for Hillary's supporters, but I started drawing a lot of fire a few months ago and needed time to re-evaluate my attitude. I don't post very often even though been lurking again recently. I love the posts and writers which hasn't changed, but things are out of control everywhere and I'm looking for a voice of reason. :-[

Diana

The fact that people can afford health care and refuse to purchase it was one of the arguments against the hc legislation. As a result, taxpayers are footing the bill for this monstrosity.

Paul Ryan's proposal made the patient and doctor the nucleus of the hc market. Tax rules would be reformed making is possible that everyone gets the same tax benefits to purchase their HC. Every American would receive an advanceable, refundable tax credit to buy portable health insurance. It would have encouraged businesses to offer ins. with tax incentives.

Democrat Congressional leaders ignored it. The law passed is very punitive. More importantly, it puts Berwick in charge of Medicare and Medicaid which has a bigger budget than the Pentagon.

Watch for Dr. Death Berwick and the rationing to begin.

I am making no editorial comment. As a CPA, I am only quoting the law, which is written to specifically prevent the IRS from filing a lien or making a levy on property for failure to pay the penalty.

If they don't straighten him out in this regard, then he will have to explain why we have to count whatever our employers provide as part of our HC premiums as "income" instead of as a tax. Do employers then get to count their expenses as taxes and not as part of their payroll expenses. Very confusing>

EWard, I agree with you to a certain extent. But there ARE people out there who are homeowners but who do not have HC insurance. I know, for instance, that my sister, who owns two ranches and some rental properties just does not buy HC insurance, as she has a considerable savings account also to pay for a hospital stay. On the other hand, she does pay for long-term care insurance.

I know a young couple who decided to buy the house and in order to make payments for the utilities, etc., stopped their HC insurance with the excuse that they are "healthy" and could afford whatever doctor visits they may have over the next few years. They also figure, like some CEOs, that the penalty they may have to pay is cheaper than the monthly insurance costs.

obama seems to have his hand in almost everyones pocket now.(except of course his own). now he wants to limit the tax deduction on mortgage interest. many people buy homes as opposed to renting, because of the tax deduction. its one of the few we have left. he wont be happy until everyone is on the public dole and he can play big daddy by giving handouts to those he deems worthy. the rest of us can "eat cake"
