Barack Obama, Incompetent Fool

Barack Obama is an incompetent, dangerous, malevolent fool based on his handling of Ms. Shirley Sherrod. Have you followed the “resignation” /firing of Ms. Shirley Sherrod? In a nutshell she appeared in a video commenting on her on journey in moving from a racist view in dealing with a white farmer to a color blind approach, but only the jarring racist comments were aired. It is only today that we learn she was actually trying to explain how she had held a racist view but learned to overcome it.

And what did Barack Obama and his team do? Without investigating, without questioning and, apparently, without a thought, once again shot from the hip and threw this lady under the bus. So much for job creation. One more undeserving soul has been added to the unemployment roles.

Check out what Glenn Beck had to say about this:

Beck at least is showing decency (and Sean Hannity, if you watched his dreck tonight, was a complete ass and idiot on this subject. Not an ounce of compassion).

The real issue here is the bizarre, shoot from the hip decision making that is the modus operandi of the Obama Administration. Remember, as Beck correctly notes, Obama shot his mouth off and accused a white police officer of improper behavior without taking time to learn the facts. Talk first, learn later. That is the Obama team. And they’ve done it again.

These assholes, Obama and his team, are political monsters without a conscience. They have fired a woman who, best I can determine after watching the full tape, is innocent of the charge initially leveled against her. Watch it and decide for yourself.

Follow up question–How fucking stupid is the NAACP? They jump on the “fire the bitch” bandwagon before they even take time to view the full tape, which they have in their possession. What is wrong with these people? Meanwhile, Ms. Shirley Sherrod is not a bitch. She has been wronged by her government and by the organization that claims to represent the interests of “colored” persons.

Larry—Great post, but I don’t know if I’d say that Beck is showing “decency” as much as he’s showing how he just loves messin’ with their heads!  I love that about him.
He turned their (NAACP, WHITE HOUSE, AG DEPT) entire story on its head, and did it brilliantly.
Thanks for the post about it.
Can’t wait for the Tucker Carlson story tomorrow about Wright and the Left!

P.S. The first video is not showing up on my computer, but the second one is. Just FYI.

  • HARP

RDLN Graduate and Board Vice Chair Shirley Sherrod was appointed Georgia Director for Rural Development by Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack on July 25. Only days earlier, she learned that New Communities, a group she founded with her husband and other families (see below) has won a thirteen million dollar settlement in the minority farmers law suit Pigford vs Vilsack.
.. The cash (settlement) award acknowledges racial discrimination on the part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture for the years 1981-85. … New Communities is due to receive approximately $13 million ($8,247,560 for loss of land and $4,241,602 for loss of income; plus $150,000 each to Shirley and Charles for pain and suffering). There may also be an unspecified amount in forgiveness of debt. This is the largest award so far in the minority farmers law suit (Pigford vs Vilsack).

Here are just a few questions about Ms. Sherrod that deserve answers:
Was Ms. Sherrod’s USDA appointment an unspoken condition of her organization’s settlement? How much “debt forgiveness” is involved in USDA’s settlement with New Communities? Why were the Sherrods so deserving of a combined $300,000 in “pain and suffering” payments — amounts that far exceed the average payout thus far to everyone else? ($1.15 billion divided by 16,000 is about $72,000)?Given that New Communities wound down its operations so long ago (it appears that this occurred sometime during the late 1980s), what is really being done with that $13 million in settlement money?

Here are a few bigger-picture questions:
Did Shirley Sherrod resign so quickly because the circumstances of her hiring and the lawsuit settlement with her organization that preceded it might expose some unpleasant truths about her possible and possibly sanctioned conflicts of interest? Is USDA worried about the exposure of possible waste, fraud, and abuse in its handling of Pigford?Did USDA also dispatch Sherrod hastily because her continued presence, even for another day, might have gotten in the way of settling Pigford matters quickly?

I would agree that Obama was just wrong, except I think the whole thing was a setup. I think Team Obama (if anybody believes they are organized enough to qualify as a team) anyway, they know they have alienated middle class white America over the Black Panther favoritism. So, this lady is a sacrificial lamb intended to do two things… 1) placate white middle class America… as if middle class white Americans need to see black carnage to be placated… I don’t think that is true myself… and 2) rub raw the resentments of black America by fostering the attitude of… look at this lady, she did everything she could and the white crackers still wanted her to be fired. So, I don’t think it’s just incompetence. This lady was sacrificed to the larger goal which is to bamboozle white America a little longer and rile up black America. I think this administration sees everything as racial. But when you are a hammer, then everything looks like a nail. I guess that makes this administration racist to even play this way. Sure looks like it.

  • Larry Johnson

    Harp,
Key issue is that no one should lose their job over unproved allegations or accusations.  Due process is the American way, or should be.  i appreciate you bringing up alternative facts, but the key is for someone to do an unbiased investigation.

  • Buzz water cracker Latte

Thanks for digging this up.  There HAD to be way more to the story than the Obama admin.  being gullable about a supposedly doctored video.

My dad worked 35 years plus in the USDA and in county programs before his tenure as a director of field services for three states for the USDA in the 1960′s and 1970′s. He was not allowed to have affiliations with groups that had political agendas.  He was called to WA DC more than a few times to discuss infractions by his people for lesser infractions than Sherrod’s.  I use to hate the midnight calls from people in WA DC and was a scared kid when senators called our home.

There was WAY more to this story than Breitbart being a bad guy.

  • Larry Johnson

If Secretary of Agriculture, Tom Vilsack is a white cracker, then okay, a CRACKER got her fired.  But the firing was at the direction of the White House, which is run by a man whose father was a black Kenyan and his mother a white American.  Is Obama a cracker?

  • HARP

I agree. No one should be fired before knowing all the facts but this came so quick I just knew there must be more to it than we are being told. Then again, Obama is known to act stupidly.

  • HARP

    Only half cracked.  ;)

  • Buzz water cracker Latte

    A toasted wheat cracker?

  • truthtelling007

sorry, the focus is breitbart. It is tangentially Obama, agreed. But if this gets turned into another “see how Obama’s a failure” and we ignore that Beck loved being a part of the ACORN/VanJones barking then suddenly is offended or surprised over this…is laughable.

Breitbart getting credibility in any of these media sources at this point is the story. Its like giving face time to that pathogen, Perez Hilton. CNN, Fox, and (I didn’t see MSNBC covering it but they may have)…they should hang their head low.

Vilsack said it was his choice. The fact he won’t back down from his choice…to think he would stick with a bad decision for consistency sake is pathetic.

But I haven’t heard a word out of Obama at this point, so I’m not interested in inserting him for political points. Breitbart is the punk of the hour. CNN and Fox are the Punked of the hour.

Rest well, natives…Obama is incompetent…its just not the point.

  • Rosa

Truly amazing and the thing is if you watch cnn or msnbc or go on huffinton post or some other bought media they are still claiming its fox news fault…………….maybe Hannity is but beck made good points and I have to agree with    you and him!!   I really think this racist stuff being promoted by obama and his  crew is going to be a disaster for all of us.   its almost like they want conflict.

  • elaine

Maybe  just a fire cracker…fired cracker?

  • No Longer Banned in Beantown

When I read the full story I thought Shirley Sherrod gave a better and more genuine speech about race relations than any that Obama has, BY FAR.

But, when I first heard the story, and read only the offensive snippet, It struck me as a truth. I have had similar experinces dealing with bureaucrats, but summed it up as people who make little money and have no power over their own lives wielding it inappropriately gleefully against the public.

I did not believe it had anything to do with race. Suspected maybe, but did not believe.

Until I heard the sound bite.

Although Sherrod ultimately helped the farmer keep the farm, she was preaching to an audience that she said needed to learn from her experience not helping, then ultimately helping other races. Sherrod believes black on white racism exists in bureaucracies. That is why she gave the speech.

Her audience cheered when Sherrod said she was struggling with deciding how much help she would give the White farmer..

That is the problem Obama and the NAACP need to address, not Sherrod, the bulk of the other employees who are giddy about not helping other races. They did not need to get Sherrod fired. In fact, they should have held up Sherrod as an example of a needed epiphany among racists.

Maybe then I will finally get the fingerprint card I have been requesting for months so I can apply for a professional license in a state that will not be named.

  • Larry Johnson

No, corn.  Vilsack is from Iowa. Iowa does corn, not wheat.  Kansas is wheat.

  • Annie Ak Mak Cracker

    Wasa Cracker?

  • Buzz water cracker Latte

The point is, as an employee of the federal government in the USDA, Shirley Sherrod should have been COLOR BLIND in the workings of ALL the cases she handled.

She failed in her duty which began DAY ONE, not when she decided it wasn’t good to be racially judgemental.

That fact that Breitbart (I’m not defending him, per se) could slice off the end and have the body of the story appear very racist is the point. Shirley Sherrod, by the nature of her employment, should have NEVER been speaking in front of the NAACP.

Nah.  This is damage control.  It’s an attempt to make it look like the Obama admin. doesn’t tolerate racism.

Well, we know the truth about that.  Who pulled the race card first during the elections???? Obama.

  • Docelder

No, the agriculture guy is more of a corporate guy than a cracker. I just think when the Sunday morning reverends talk about this it will never come up that Obama fired this lady and if it does it will be that he had to do it to keep the peace. I think this lady was sacrificed in the belief that it would placate middle class whites and rub raw blacks. I think in black communities in the pulpits and on the streets the sacrifice of this lady will be seen as a lost attempt to placate white America. Maybe white America might see it as Obama is even handed. I think that was the intent of it. Still, I think it was a setup.

  • No Longer Banned in Beantown

I am thinking Obama is more like half cocked than half cracked. As in acting prematurely or without reflection.

But entering the discussion in between hits off his crack pipe does qualify Obama as half cracked.

  • ~~JustMe~~

    Corn Cracker! ;)

  • Objective Analysis

It is real simple.  Her statements made Ben Jealous, Hillary Shelton and the NAACP loose their shine on calling the whole TEA PARTY MOVEMENT – RACIST!

The Left wing progressive leadership of the NAACP got publicly embarrassed b/c they did a LBJ Decision and forgot they have skeletons in their own context.  They, along with Obama, wanted to deflect attention from their race baiting tactics to get media attention.

DIDN’T WORK.  She gets sacrificed b/c they looked bad and like hypocrites.  Well, don’t feel bad Sherrod, you took one for TEAM OBAMA – join the ranks of unemployment.

  • Docelder

Her audience cheered when Sherrod said she was struggling with deciding how much help she would give the White farmer - Well I can tell you that is nothing new. I worked in a Dallas hood office for five years. The day OJ got acquitted, I heard the most raucous celebration coming from the office next door. I never felt so little in common with a building full of people who I had considered most to be friends as I did that day. I still don’t get that one and I probably never will.

  • Docelder

Like in that song? Jimmy cracked corn?  8-)

  • Buzz water cracker Latte

Agreed.  This is damage control coming from the left wing and Obama admin.  Someone keep tabs on her lest she show up again buried somewhere else in the Obama admin. soon.

They got busted at their own game and after all, that’s what is going to count come Nov.

  • ~~JustMe~~

    Exactly!

  • sybilll

I am astonished that Breitbart fell into this trap.  I think he approved the damning snippet of Sherrod on the heels of the NAACP calling the Tea Party racists.  But, the Obama machine has been deflecting their abjact failure, and turning it into a race issue, as a precursor to the elections.  Isn’t that exactly what they did to Hillary when Obama’s lack of experience and questionable associations were in question?  This page of the playbook has played out before, and Breitbart must have forgotten that part.

  • Buzz water cracker Latte

Yeah, I was dumb enough to think that a few black co-workers were genuine office buddies.  That is until I caught them making fun of me complete with ebonics and derogatory comments.  One on one – okay. Turn your back on the group, forget it.  Ghetto rules applied.

  • Docelder

All the race baiting would be working better if the economy hadn’t worsened under Obama and if hope and change had actually worked. But he doesn’t have the political capital anymore to play even a race card is what this means. It means he is a lame duck walking.

  • No Longer Banned in Beantown

Yeah, I had the same experience. And was equally dumbfounded.

But I do get why OJ was aquitted. I don’t agree with it, but I get it.

There was a collective chip on the shoulder of a race. And in this “post racial” period that chip is still there.

I understand the concept of vengence. What I do not understand is collective vengence by a group that did not receive the offence, upon others that did not commit the offense.

  • Buzz water cracker Latte

The meme is they are “owed”.   The facts and timelines and realities don’t factor in.

Doc, Obama, a lame duck walking?

Check out Charles Krauthammer’s recent writing, “Obama’s next act” ‘I have a warning for Republicans: Don’t underestimate Barack Obama’

  • Yttik

Breitbart knew exactly what he was doing. He posted that clip to leave the impression that Sherrod was being racist. He didn’t fall in a trap at all, his goal was to show that the NAACP were jumping to conclusions about the Tea Party without any evidence. He was attempting to turn the tables on them. Boy did he nail it, too. See how easy it is to ruin somebody’s life by making false allegations of racism??

The only one’s who stepped in a trap were President Obama, Tom Vilsack, and the NAACP. True to form, they destroyed this woman over nothing but whispers and unsubstantiated rumors. Exactly what they are trying to do to Americans who attend Tea parties.

As cold as it was, Breitbart made his point.

  • Nice Try

First of all, it is not clear at all that Obama had anything to do with her firing!

Second, lets no forget who the real villian is here. It is that right wing nut Breitbart. He is the one who doctored the video and lied about Sherrod and her record. Real race baitings stuff.

  • Yttik

The buck stops at Obama.  And Sherrod knows it too because she had some choice words for him.

  • sybilll

Damn, I usually can properly analize Breitbart’s motives, but, I totally missed this one.  And, you nailed it.  Thank you.

  • beyond_Salted-Cracker_words

    Good post LJ and Docelder.

I agree with #2) in your opinion Doc. I have that eery feeling they will be doing as much as they can to cause racial divisions for the upcoming elections. Rile up black america, feed white guilt through a continuous weekly media blitzkrieg of trumpeted “incidents” that come out of nowhere.
I’m “clinging” to my hope that black america sees through his bullshit “act” and rejects these yahoos. (including the neferarious panthers – which is a future staging point point i’m thinking)

Bullshit… clearly the Adminstration got punked…

But, at the end of the day it was Breitbart who got Sherrod fired. Period.

The right is on full attack mode right now with their bullshit. Their NAACP comments and their BS about the New Black Panther party. I guess these assholes did not like being told that there are some elements in their tea party that is racist.

The American public sees through all this right-wing race baiting BS. The true believers will lap it up, but those people are a lost cause. The majority of the U.S. public knows that the right-wing has been trying to attach Obama to radical or extreme black movement since the election. They are fooling no one and only making themselves look like idiots.

Nope! If all it takes to get somebody fired is an unsubstantiated blog post on the internet, then the boss is incompetent.

If this administration did indeed “get punked,” than they should be immediately removed from office for incompetency. These are the people in charge of our national security, our defense, and they’re stupid enough to get punked by some right wing blogger?

How stupid do you have to be to not know you shouldn’t believe everything you read on the internet??

Try this for some history of this very admirable woman, Shirley Sherrod. All the more disheartening that she was fired because of a right-wing smear job. She was a true leader in the fight against racism against Black farm owners. HARP you only wish you had the balls and hard working success of this woman. You just hide behind your stupid flag.

    Minority Farm Settlement
Justice Achieved – Congratulations to Shirley and Charles Sherrod!

We have wonderful news regarding the case of New Communities, Inc., the land trust that Shirley and Charles Sherrod established, with other black farm families in the 1960′s. At the time, with holdings of almost 6,000 acres, this was the largest tract of black-owned land in the country. Now with a cash award of historic proportions, the group will be able to begin again.

In 1969, New Communities received a planning grant from OEO and was encouraged to expect substantial funding for implementation, but Governor Maddox would not permit further funds for the group to come into the state.

Nevertheless, New Communities built up farming operations to help retain the land. They had highway frontage where they had a farmers market to sell their crops. They raised hogs and sold the processed meat in a smokehouse they built on the highway. Their sugar cane mill on the highway also attracted customers. New Communities was ahead of the times in raising eight acres of Muscatine grapes, which are now widely grown in the area. They also farmed 1,500 acres of row crops, including corn, peanuts and soybeans.

Over the years, USDA refused to provide loans for farming or irrigation and would not allow New Communities to restructure its loans. Gradually, the group had to fight just to hold on to the land and finally had to wind down operations.

In 1985, as the land was being lost, Shirley entered the RDLN program. Previously, she had worked behind the scenes, but as she participated in RDLN, she began to realize her capacity as an up-front leader. She invited the Federation of Southern Cooperatives to sponsor her in the RDLN program, earned her master’s degree with a thesis that continues to provide a blueprint for her ongoing work with black farmers and others, helped orient all succeeding groups of RDLN Leaders, and became vice chair of RDLN’s Board of Directors. As you all know, Shirley is Georgia Lead for both the Federation of Southern Cooperatives/Land Assistance Fund and the Southern Rural Black Women’s Initiative. She has also chaired the board of the Farmers Legal Action Group, which has been active in the minority farmers law suit, along with the Federation and other groups. FSC and SRBWI hosted RDLN’s National Network Assembly in 2006, during which Network members had a chance to immerse themselves in Civil Rights history, with the guidance of Shirley and Charles (the first field director of SNCC), Albany singers and others, and to visit the economic development projects that have grown out of that Civil Rights history.

The cash award acknowledges racial discrimination on the part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture for the years 1981-85. (President Reagan abolished the USDA Office of Civil Rights when he became President in 1981.) New Communities is due to receive approximately $13 million ($8,247,560 for loss of land and $4,241,602 for loss of income; plus $150,000 each to Shirley and Charles for pain and suffering). There may also be an unspecified amount in forgiveness of debt. This is the largest award so far in the minority farmers law suit (Pigford vs Vilsack).

No one can compensate those involved with New Communities for the difficult history they experienced. The award covers only a few of the years in question. Nevertheless, with these funds, New Communities will be able to start work again — forty years later — to realize the promise of their original dream, reconnect with the legacy of the Civil Rights movement, and meet the challenge of the needs and opportunities of the current historical moment.

No matter what this person may believe, she was called three times by the White House.
My intel comes by way of my sanehalf, who informed me that this woman had used her own failings as a basis for her speech which she has been giving for 20 some odd years. If that is the case, then why have the farmer and his wife been friends with her for 20 years?

I hope she sues for wrongful termination. If it is true that she has benn giving this speech for years, then the bus to Howorts just ran over her sorry ass.
Her then condesending “white” farmer clients and now friends are very upset about her being fired and think it’s BS. So do I.

I believe she made these comments some time back when she was with a non-profit, not the government.

  • AbigailAdams

I’m with Breitbart on this whole “story”.  This is not about barry or Shirley or even race.  This is really about the Democrats (this time) using Alinsky play book tactics to draw attention off anything real going on, on the hill and getting some yardage from continuing their attacks of “racism”:

This was one of Breitbart’s statements on Fox News tonight:

“Mary Francis Berry, the former chair of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, appointed by President Carter and Clinton — This is no conversvative — okay.  This is what she said that has to do with what’s going on right now and why this isn’t about Shirley and Andrew.  Why this is about the NAACP and the congressional black caucus and the Democratic party.

‘Tainting the Tea Party movement with the charge of racism is proving to be an effective strategy for Democrats.  There’s no evidence the Tea Party is any more racist than other Republicans and, indeed, other Americans.  But getting them to spend their time purging the ranks and having candidates distance themselves should help Democrats win in November.  Having one’s opponent rebut charges of racism is far better than discussing joblessness.’

This is about politics and this is about tarring the American people and the Tea Party movement with the false charge of racism.”

The NAACP’s mock charges of racism must be countered and if it takes a decades-old video of someone to do that, that’s too bad.  The NAACP brought this on their own head.  No one asked for Sherrod’s resignation.  The WH did, in fact, state that the entire matter was reviewed and this is what it decided.

  • HARP

Glad my flag is getting under your skin……..just wait until November.

TWK, according to the clip of Mr. Beck, Ms. Sherrod was being harassed by the WH to quit because they had advance warning he would run with her story, and they wrongly assumed he would lambaste the NAACP for having a racist in their midst.  The WH mistakenly believed, compelling her resignation before his story aired would mitigate the damages.

Start listening to Ms. Sherrod at the 16:00 minute mark.  This is a deeply spiritual woman who uses this time sensitive example of the white farmer – her references place this in the context of court orders in the mid-1980′s – to ‘testify’ to her audience that the issues we need to deal with as a society derive more from disparities in class than in race.  She really touched me.  (FYI, the USDA has a history of one of the most racist federal agencies.  http://www.alternet.org/food/145859/will_obama%27s_usda_atone_for_decades_of_racism

I totally agree.  What Breitbart did was dial back the effectiveness of the race card.

You know the Dems are/were going to work it since they can’t stand on the Obama administration’s track record of – sigh – achievements.

Everything Obama has “achieved” is pissing the likely voters off.

  • Obama: Dubya 2 Electric Boogaloo

Poor Ms. Sherrod, caught in a tough break…let me shed some tears while I watch old clips on Youtube of progressives piling on Bill Clinton for being a racist for calling the Obama story a “Fairy Tale”….

    Like I said, damage control.

They wanted to show that the Obama admin. doesn’t tolerate racism.

Too late.  Obama played the race card in 2008.  We’re all aware of how much he uses racism to get a desired outcome.

    Never again.

  • Docelder

the issues we need to deal with as a society derive more from disparities in class than in race - That is interesting, because I have that same opinion. Most of what gets passed off as racism is really classism. Going back to Professor Gates and the blue collar policemen. That was also about class to the policemen. People including Obama wanted to twist it into race… but it was about class. Same with the number of black young males in prison for drug crimes… again mostly class issues and not race issues. No wonder this administration fired her. Maybe it was what she was saying… not about the white farmer but about class vs. race that Obama wanted to suppress.

  • ~~JustMe~~

“Spiritual” Religion or a thought process is a totally different issue and should be put on the side when discussing regulations connect to office. “Spiritual” people would never ever bring the color of someone’s skin into the equation when describing an event or how to direct help. Reaching out to offer aid or assist someone is color blind in the position Sherrod, held regardless of the year!

  • FranSC

I knew from the beginning that Sherrod was being forced out for something other than what ‘looked’ like the obvious but probably was not.  It was too much of an about face for this lawless, racially motivated team 0bama.  I think Nice Try’s information probably holds the key.

Without knowing all the information, at this point my guess would be that Vilsack didn’t like Sherrod being at the USDA and the knee-jerk reaction to the released video was that this would be an opportune moment to get rid of Sherrod.  No one would be the wiser.

Glenn’s show was excellent today as it is everyday.  As I’ve said before no one else in the mainstream media is doing what Glenn does.  He is quite the investigative reporter with a big staff.  Nothing is on that show that has not been fully researched with lots of supporting evidence.

  • FranSC

Shirley Sherrod is the one who said it came from the WH.  She said the name of the WH person on that CNN interview.  However, that does not mean it came from out-in-left-field 0bama.  All the people around him work independently of him.  No one is in charge.  That is the reason there is such chaos there.  I hope they pay the price in 2010 and especially in 2012!!

  • Buzz water cracker Latte

Yeah and then the WH says they didn’t order her resignation.  Who are you going to believe?

  • FranSC

Why not, beyond_Salted??  It was a *winning strategy* for them in 2008 – or so they think.  The 0bama Campaign had a Race Man with a race team.  Today we learned from Tucker Carlson there was also a media team who completely bought into the race-baiting strategy.

Fox & Friends Weekend had the first segement on the Caucus Fraud two Sundays ago and promised there would be more ‘once they talked to the DNC about it’.  The DNC will not cooperate with them on that subject.  So, there may not be anything more to it since they have been so successful in keeping their criminal activity secret.

Unless people like Tucker and Fox start effectively ‘outing’ what went on in 2008 that created this illegitimate POTUS, 2012 will be the second verse, same as the first.  Also in the news today was the fact that 5 states so far have joined together to do away with the Electoral College.  All 5 states are dem states that 0bama won.  I would probably be ‘for’ this except for whose pushing it now.  I’m sure they have something sinister up their sleeve and this is apparently their new strategy to get him handily re-elected.  It is terrifying what is being done!

  • jbjd

JM, you missed the point of both my statement and Ms. Sherrod’s ‘testimony.’  Watch her arms when she ‘testifies’ as to the ‘revelation’ that came to her, which informed her with the knowledge the color of this farmer’s skin was not a material fact but his poverty.  It was precisely her spiritual awareness that was aroused, which turned her around.

Listen to that farmer’s wife say today Ms. Sherrod saved their farm.

    “Upon further review…”

Now the NAACP needs to investigate it’s members who CHEERED when Sherrod said she was struggling with deciding how much help she would give the White farmer.

And investigate the USDA organization/employees that Sherrod directed her “Lesson I learned from using discrimination and why you shouldn’t” speech to.

  • Buzz water cracker Latte

So in the end, did Ms. Sherrod’s epiphany change the course and direction of the NAACP?  No.

Did the major the race card players get owned? Yes

Which caused awareness for the greater good on a mass scale?

    The universe is smiling.

  • FranSC

Truthtelling007 – Breitbart said Shirley Sherrod was not ‘his’ reason for releasing the video.  He said it was to show the hypocrisy of the NAACP to whom she was speaking in the video.  He was focused on the fact that the NAACP audience was giving verbal approval as Sherrod was relaying the first part of her story of the white farmer and how she was deciding not to give him her best shot because he was white.  At the end Sherrod would say she had changed her mind on that, but the NAACP had already chanted their approval of the racism with which she told the first part of her story.

There are plenty of rats, incompetence and black racism in this woodpile.  0bama’s incompetence is only part of this story.

I’m not sure about Breitbart, but I think your criticism of Glenn Beck is unjustified.  What was so wrong about exposing ACORN and Van Jones?  They have turned out to be exactly what Glenn said they were.  Sounds like you are assuming Beck is a racist who just took a different twist today.  You obviously do not watch that program and should not be voicing such self-righteous opinions about which you know nothing.

Truthtelling007,  I remember better things from you than your assessment of this incident.

You nailed it – Obama and the Dems want conflict.  Agree with Fran about Breitbart, Beck, & Truthtelling.

  • ~~JustMe~~

    Which turned her around?
    From what?
Sherrod should never have felt for one moment she needed to be turned around from the help she was able to offer.
In her position she should never have been looking for a ‘revelation’ to arouse her spiritual awareness…… to reach out to help the farmer.
Simply put in her position she was asked for help….”her “Spirituality” should not even be in question…..
However this is maybe getting too deep, if she was as “Spiritual” as you see the discussion or explanation would not have occurred…..

  • FranSC

I think that’s right, Cindy.  It was the NAACP that had the rest of the tape where she ‘vindicated’ herself.  At first they wouldn’t release it, but later in the day (Tuesday) finally did.

That’s where the NAACP hypocrisy really showed its ugly head – after cheering Sherrod on during the racist-sounding first part of her story, they wanted to look color-blind and supportive when they learned in the second part that she had had a revelation about treating people differently only because of skin color.  Jerkoffs!

  • EWard

    Abigail

Ditto to your post!  Breitbart is not the issue.  The real story is a rogue government run by Democrats using race as a wedge issue to divide us while slowly gaining control over every major industry in the nation.

  • FranSC

Elaine – I would change Krauthammer’s warning a bit to say:

    Obama really is the messiah!

  • EWard

    Just Me

You said it better than anyone else – Sherrod should never have felt she needed to be turned around to do her job.  Can you imagine if a white person said this about attempting to help an African-American?  Jessie and Al would be leading a boycott.

  • jbjd

Ms. Sherrod helped the poor white farmer who came to the USDA for help.  However, she initially saw him as a white man who needed help from an agency historically unhelpful to blacks and who, ironically, needed a black woman to help him.  She steered him to a white lawyer figuring a white lawyer would help him.  When the white lawyer did not help, she intervened, and took the farmer to another lawyer who did help.  Her conduct in carrying out her job mandate is not in question.  She only revealed what was initially in her heart; until she ‘saw the light.’  Then, all that was in her heart was making sure this poor farmer did not needlessly lose his farm, and not on the dynamics of a white farmer asking a black USDA official for help.

Contorting this situation into something else to assuage a need for retribution (real or feigned) or, just to flame the level of discourse on NQ isn’t surprising.  Over the past few weeks, this has become par for the course.

  • Juliezzz

Someone help me.  I just don’t get it.  Why are people excusing her all of a sudden?
The audience just laughs and is uh huh-ing when she talks of this man trying to “show he was superior” and she was trying to decide just how much help she was willing to give him.  Then there is much approval of her leaving him off to be taken care of by “one of his own kind” (a white lawyer).  And because this lawyer was a crook (yeah big surprise) she says that’s when she realized it was about all poor people (those who have vs. those who don’t) and said “it’s not about white…” and then clarified, “well it IS about black and white but it opened my eyes”
After she talks about how she had to step in at the last minute because a white man left another white man out twisting in the wind (wow who would of thunk it) she then talks about her awakening of that it is all about the rich wanting to keep their power.  (I agree with that by the way, but I don’t know if she means it on the same scale as me.  I’m thinking along the lines of the super rich people who actually run the government locally and nationally behind the scenes like the big bankers and corporations who hold various puppet strings.   As long as she doesn’t mean just some random rich guy with no real power, were on the same page here.)
But next she starts talking about “mean spirited people”, Health Care, and racism resurfacing.  And how the republicans are doing all this because we have a “black president” (applause).  She then talks how we have to come together and it’s too bad there isn’t room for whites and blacks there in that room.
I’m sorry.   I know she is claiming some big awakening, but from where I stand she still is a big racist who has huge prejudices against white people. And, apparently,  so does all in her audience.  Why am I suddenly reminded of Rev. Wright?   Flip everything around that she said.  Make it a white person standing up there saying how this black farmer just talked and talked and she just knew that that black guy was trying to show he was superior so she decides not to really help him but to pawn him off on some black lawyer who was “one of his own kind”.  And when this lawyer left him in the lurch she finally out of decency steps in to do her job.  She realized then that while there is always an element of it being about be about blacks getting a better deal than whites, she realized for the first time it was also about poor people vs. the rich.  And that the reason these “mean spirited people” are against the war in Iraq is cuz they are racist against white people and that they don’t like Bush because his white. Absurd right?
Much of this stuff Shirley Sherrod said is how she feels today.  Do I think she deserves to be fired by Oblahblah?  No, not unless he fires Michelle too cuz she says much the same thing.  But I do think Sherrod is still a racist.  It baffles me that it’s all excused away.  Oh it’s all ok because she did go help the farmer in the end.   People do you realize that because you don’t support Obama, you ,by her definition, are racist too?  Or have we heard it soooooooooooooo freakin much that we aren’t even offended by it anymore?
One other thing, it is said that this is a full tape but then why at minute 21 there is a visible cut?  Why cut out anything and who did the cut?

  • ~~JustMe~~

Contorting this situation into something else to assuage a need for retribution (real or feigned) or, just to flame the level of discourse on NQ isn’t surprising.  Over the past few weeks, this has become par for the course.

No one is contorting or flaming anything here it is looking at the situation from a different angle. We all have free will and thought and that is exactly how this situation should have been handled regardless of the color of a person’s skin, class or spirituality! Sadly, I too have seen how words and thoughts have been distorted recently at NQ and looking at it from an objective point of view is sickening. Personally, I view it as a group of a few women who get emotionally throw off course instead of looking at views from both sides…….. We will never all agree but I am pleased to say I can agree to disagree with many views offered here. So I would be happy jbjd if you could consider I may not agree with you but I would never cast the first stone and make out everything is par for the course!

  • Olivia1998

    BINGO!

  • Olivia1998

I agree. This has white house spin all over it.  There’s 2 stories floating.  Shirley says she sent him on to his own kind and tonight on CNN her and the farmer say she helped him directly.  I think something smells and everyone is running scared instead of checking out the story further and the farmed.  Don’t think this bunch in the white house is beyond editing the tape and/or finding a farmer.

  • Bonnie Jean Burris

Mr Johnson I don’t watch Glen Beck or Sean Hannity for the same reasons I won’t watch Olberman or Mathews, but I did watch Bret Bair as I do almost everyday. He said FOX had only shown part of the video on the various shows, but had posted more on their website. I’m perplexed  why they would present only part of the story when they had more which showed her statement saying it had been revealed to her it was more about the poor than race. he Washington Post did their mea culpa for not covering the Black Panther story so why aren’t apologies coming from Beck (and Bill O. which I do watch)? I agree this woman was thrown under the bus by Obama, no surprise and the NAACP which is more difficult to understand, but apparently she was trashed on every show on FOX yesterday. She is the real victim here. If people are not allowed to admit mistakes of the past and recieve some sort of absolution, I am in deep trouble and would suggest most of the humans who inhabit this planet are. She deserves an aplolgy from everyone concerned IMHO.

  • AbigailAdams

Because as Beck said, there may be something even worse on the tape.

Yeah, I don’t think she had all that much of a revelation.  It makes me wonder, besides this one white farmer, how many other white farmers she had to “help” over the course of her career on our tax money?  I wonder how many others in her span of control are wondering if she brought the full force of her influence to bear on their particular problems or if she held back because of race or maybe some other reason.  Even if the finger of racism wasn’t pointed at her, her abuse of power over the people paying her to do her job to the fullest must be wondering.  That seems like a lot of power concentrated in one petty bureaucrat to me.

  • Bonnie Jean Burris

Thank you. It is my undersanding Sen, Charles Grasley asked Vilsack about this suit shortly after he was appointed and as of June, 2010 no funds had been paid to the litigants.

  • AbigailAdams

Olivia:  I agree.  I think there’s a whole lot more to this than what we’ve seen.  Maybe nothing earth shattering but sometimes the mundane is even more bizarre and troubling.  And it could explain why the WH was so quick to give her the boot and why the NAACP was also so quick to endorse her firing by the WH. Now, whatever she says can be attributed to her being a “disgruntled employee”, the same way ACORN handled their internal problems.  If it’s true that after 2 previous calls from the WH she was told to pull over and submit to their request for her resignation, you know that timing was very important to someone giving the order.  Why?  Hopefully, we shall see.

  • Olivia1998

No apology until this tape is checked out.  The NAACP had this long version in their hands. Why didn’t they look at before they came out and condemned her which by the way was before FOX NEWS carried the story.  Something stinks and I think it’s Alxhole and Deadfish Emanuel.

  • Clara

Breitbart is a nobody.  This story is much bigger than a right wing blogger.  It speaks volumns that the WH, Vilsak and the NAACP jumped when someone said boo.  That is scary!

  • Clara

Megyn Kelly on Fox at 1 pm yesterday was to have had Ms. Sherrod on to tell her story.  Kelly ran the entire clip and told the truth.  Ms. Sherrod suddenly said she wouldn’t appear but in this instance, Megyn wanted to show support for her.

  • Olivia1998

The NAACP say they were snookered by Fox.  How can that be when the white house fired her and the NAACP condemned her before Fox News ran the story.  Something stinks

  • AbigailAdams

Bonnie Jean:  If I’m not mistaken, Beck didn’t run this story the night it broke but last night.  If you take a look at the video, above, you’ll see why an apology from Beck is unnecessary.  And until all of this story surfaces, it seems premature to expect or demand an apology from anyone except maybe the NAACP for supressing the rest of the story and the WH for jumping off the cliff on the strength of a highly edited bit of speechifying–which leads me to think that the WH and the NAACP know more about this thing than the rest of us and are trying to preemptively neutralize the analysts and critics.

Olivia1998 – For some reason, this made me laugh out loud:

Don’t think this bunch in the white house is beyond editing the tape and/or finding a farmer.

  • Noogan

I disagree completely. Breitbart isn’t the issue here, though some would like to make him the issue. He has his own agenda, just like Beck, Hannity, Olbermann, Maddow and the rest. Everyone is clear what the agenda is. It’s just not relevant.

What is relevant is: WHY WAS SHERROD FIRED?

  • Noogan

HARP, you nailed it! Somebody needs to make this a political ad!

  • Noogan

    Breitbart got her fired?

I just don’t see it that way at all. Breitbart posted the video, and there are many videos posted all the time. If every time someone posted a video of someone, and they got fired, there’d be no one left in DC.

Sherrod was fired by the WH–via their minions at USDA. There’s always a murky trail to cover up the people at the top, isn’t there? The WH calls Vilsack, who calls his minions, who do the dirty deed. That’s the way it works.

    WHO ORDERED HER FIRING?

Thank you Fransc, for pointing out the aspect of that NAACP response.
Granted, many of us formed an opinion based on what was initially reported, myself included, and that was wrong.  What is also wrong is the visceral nature of the derision shown by that group during the early part of the speech.  It showed something quite ugly and you’re the only one I’ve read or heard pointing that out.  It tells a lot about that organization.

When a former friend of mine told me I owed her a job because of slavery, I pointed out to her that blacks in the United States had been free longer than they had been slaves. From 1776 to 1865 is 89 years. From 1865 to 2010 is 145 years. So the blacks in the United States have been free longer than they were slaves. About time they stopped blaming others for their problems, and got to work changing “black culture” to be something besides living on entitlement programs and whining about the white man. I am getting so tired of being blamed for things done by others and I want to know when blacks are going to take responsibility for themselves and their children. White people are expected to do so, why not black people?? More emphasis on education and community safety and less on the “thug life” and hip hop crap that passes for black culture would be a good thing. And yes, I know many black people who do strive for education and make their children behave, but it’s hard for them in the face of the “black culture” crap that is prevalent in the media and on the streets. Bill Cosby is right, people need to take responsibility for their actions. Of course, Mr. Cosby is derided as an “Uncle Tom” for saying so.

Larry, the White House did not make the decision to fire Sherrod.  That was solely Vilsack’s call.

Exactly, OA!  This is damage control all around.  Their aim is not only to divert attention way from the NBP thugs, but from Michelle’s “intense” comments at the NAACP — especially because her comments were getting attention over the internets.  So, BO and his team decide to sacrifice Sharrod to save Michelle and BO from their race-baiting ways just in time for the November elections.  I wonder if BO will give another “historic” speech on race?  Perhaps this is also why he and his minions have been stirring the racial pot, as it were, so that BO can come “save the day” with another transcendent speech.  But I also agree with Larry, BO is a boob!

Also, Olivia1998, the NAACP had the entire tape containing Sherrod’s comments.

  • Armymom

Excuse me, but they ran the whole thing that they had at noon yesterday with James Rosen. And they even commented about it. They had more of the correct story and ran with it than the NAACP, Obama, or anyone else. It is also the same video that Breitbart had that he ran. I watched what the NAACP had and that they called the whole video and on it she goes on to call the tea party “racists”. Yet it still seems as though what the NAACP released is still editied. Why? What else is on there? She sues the USDA and then ends up with a job? Something about this story doesn’t seem right. Also the crowd seems to get a perversed joy out of her telling them she didn’t “give it her full attention” in helping that “white farmer’. Sick sick sick

  • Larry Johnson

Right.  Beck owes no one an apology on this matter.  Sean Hannity?  Yes, he helped foment the virtual lynching.  But ultimately it is the White House who is responsible.   Only Government officials could pressure Sherrod to resign and make it happen.

  • Larry Johnson

Sherrod got three phone calls nimrod from a Government official reiterating that the White House wanted this.   Jesus Christ!  How brain dead are you?  Are you calling Sherrod a liar?

Exactly my point Olivia.  In the same speech she was giving above, she talks of how black vs. right is still a big issue it was just that her eyes were opened to also include poor people in general.

And her contemporary comments within the same speech she starts talking about “mean spirited people” who oppose Health Care, and their latent racism resurfacing.  And how the republicans are doing all this only because we have a “black president”

NEW RULE —  When anyone yells racism in this administration, they are really only pointing out how racist they themselves are.

Unbiased investigation? In this White House? These clowns don’t know their job, as you have pointed out, Larry.

These guys don’t know that they sold their Obama product as the “first post-racial President”. That means he should be ABOVE the fray, working on more important stuff and not getting involved in these minor dustups.

“why the majority of balck voters vote for obama? because he had a superior resume? hell no! so go peddley that somewhere else.”

If that’s your logic, then you’re going to have to explain why black voters voted in the same majorities for John Kerry, Al Gore, and Bill Clinton.  And why Al Sharpton lost not only the Democratic nomination, but the majority of the black vote in 2004.  Same for Carol Moseley Braun.

  • Yttik

I feel kind of ill having to speak up for Hannity, but I don’t recall him discussing this issue until she was already fired and the entire tape was released?

It’s true, I don’t watch Hannity, so I could have missed it, but he was blathering on about some entirely differant subject the day before? Did he run the edited clip and label her a racist??

It’s irrelevent as to who is responsible here, that clearly belongs to the administration.

  • Yttik

LOL, well I bet she doesn’t feel that way this morning! She had some choice words for this administration herself and I doubt it had anything to do with the fact that we have a black president.

I see my reply to HARP above was taken off the site. More censorship. This is a joke and getting to be more and more of a habit of NQ to censor any alternative view points. What is the point of having a discussion board.

Hannity did play the whole tape, and Martha MacCallum subbing for Greta did too.  O’Reilly was as usual an old pontificating fool on this.  His delusion is that he is fair and open-minded. I don’t watch Beck, but his comments on this video are right on.

i also believe they are looking to start some kind of race war. why else has neither of the Obamas come out  against all the racism accusations? meechele tells the Naacp to get more “intense” (code words perhaps?) instead they seem to be fostering it. hopefully many AA’s are too smart to fall into this trap. particularly since he has done little or nothing for them .so much for the post racial president.

  • timmy

LJ, thank you again.  Obama & NAACP are now promoting the interest of Black people? What a laughing joke. Obama is doing more harm to black interest and the progress of the USA.  NAACP should do its self a favor by cutting ALL ties with Obama until Obama proves himself worthy of NAACP support…Which measured by his action, Obama is incapable of doing anything worthy of NAACP support.

Obama’s words can’t be trusted. Obama is a USER, an arrogant baboon, a stupid idiot, incompetent fool, who will SELL the entire progress made by the NAACP for any political gain for HIMSELF.  Just ask Ophra.

Obama has no principles, no core believes, no guts, no values, no morals, no brain, no apathy, no sympathy, no empathy. He’s despicable, vile, disgraceful person. Anyone who trusts Obama does it on their own demise….  Just ask Jeremiah Wright (Wrong).

In short, Obama is a weasel.

A more important story is the extent to which FOX News has abandoned all journalistic standards and is running a misinformation campaign.  Edited videos of the ACORN “expose” and Shirley Sherod are run as legitimate news storys.  They are then picked up by Blogs, such as Reverand Amy, and circulated as factual.  Our democracy is damaged because this produces a misinformed electorate, which is the goal of those producing and promoting this fake news.

As Karl Rove said, he “creates his own reality.”  He knows that people can be tricked into thinking Iraq had something to do with 9/11 or is alligned with Al Qaeda.  Hell, he helped do it.

The Political Earthquake — As Predicted

    By Peter Ferrara on 7.21.10 @ 6:08AM

Just over a year ago, in July 2009, this column predicted in an article entitled “2010″ that a political earthquake was coming this year that would shake Washington to its foundations. In October 2009, I argued that the real danger facing Republicans was that they would underestimate their strength this year, and not win all the seats they could win by failing to recognize soon enough just how vulnerable even established Democrats would be.

At the time this was laughed off as wild-eyed, unhinged, bluff and bluster. Today, one year later, it is actually conventional wisdom. The political earthquake is here. We hear the tremors even from the White House Press Secretary.

  • FembotsForObama

Just a quick chime-in … haven’t had time to read all the comments here yet.

I think ultimately the reason Sherrod was forced to resign had nothing to do with Fox News.  My gut tells me it has more to do with her role in the Ag dept, her own history as a advocate for black farmers, and Obama’s real stance and record regarding Black farmers.

We learned that shortly after Obama’s inauguration, that one of the first groups Obama threw under the bus was …. BLACK FARMERS.  Obama went against his own legislation he supposedly was the sole sponsor of as US senator, and capped the total recompense to farmers experiencing bankruptcy and able to qualify for federal funds as reparations.  His legislation was to increase that capped amount so that Black farmers would be included as recipients (often small farmers are ignored when it comes to doling out farm aid, with a preference to big, coop farms). Obama did a complete 180 degrees on this and instead affirmed the cap, disenabling black farmers, mainly in AL, from receiving federal funds.

Surely, this is what Beck would have uncovered.  And this is the unreported-in-the-MSM story that gives a black eye to the Obama.  We’d also probably learn that it wasn’t Obama who wrote the legislation as senator, although he was allowed the credit for it (much like what occurred when he was state senator).  And, the lack of follow-up to this legislation by Dem congresspeople.  Black farmers are still waiting …

A quick search shows this –

  • FLDemFem

Don’t worry, Larry, all is well..the WH now says that Sherrod is owed an apology and they got Gibbs to sort of make one. See here...check out the last sentence in the quote below..I comment on it at the end. Just ironic in the extreme, don’t you think??

“White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said Wednesday that the administration owes former USDA official Shirley Sherrod an apology.
“I would do so, certainly, on behalf of this administration,” Gibbs said at the daily White House press conference. “A disservice was done. An apology was owed. That’s what we’ve done. Decisions were made based on an incomplete set of facts.”
Gibbs agreed with a questioner who asked if the affair had been “bungled.”
“I think this is a fair way to put it,” he said. “Members of this administration, members of the media, members of different political factions on both sides of this have all made determinations and judgments without a full set of facts. I think that is wholly and completely accurate. I think, without a doubt, Ms. Sherrod is owed an apology.”
Gibbs added that “we live in a culture (in which) things whip around, people want fast responses, (and) we want to give fast responses. One of the great lessons you take away from this is to ask all the questions first.”

If only more people had asked questions about Obama, we wouldn’t be in this mess!!!

  • ~~JustMe~~

Well I stand corrected on O’Reilly this was a timeline shown on Fox this am… Thank you for filling in the correct details.

  • No Longer Banned in Beantown

Is anyone asking why the NAACP pushed this story on Brietbart and gave him the video? What was the motive for the NAACP to get this story out?

Why did they give it to Breitbart and not their pals in the MSM? Did they like the way Breitbart would treat it instead of say MSNBC?

Someone in the NAACP or maybe just someone in that meeting had an agenda against Sherrod.

The NAACP did not put the Sherrod video out to plant a fake racist story. If they had their immediate response would have been “Fake Racist Story” not “Sherrod Must Go”.

That is what a real analyst/investigator would do. Check every angle.

  • FembotsForObama

Sorry, don’t believe for one minute that the WH didn’t know until after the fact.  What’s more is that Sherrod herself contends that the WH itself forced her resignation.

  • FembotsForObama

Notice that Sherrod was effectively saying the same thing.  Blacks need to get over the Civil War and take responsibility for themselves.  There exist many jobs in agriculture but too  many blacks feel that its akin to workin in the fields and not a source of empowerment.  However, in WI we do have a resurgence of blacks farming.

  • FembotsForObama

yeah but keep in mind… this was a local NAACP event that Sherrod attended, and it was the national one that demonized her without viewing the evidence.

Remind anyone of how local Dem chapters were  being labelled racist by the national party?

  • FembotsForObama

yttik — I’d like this comment 100x if I could!

  • FembotsForObama

Buzz, this sounds like what Roland Martin was saying on CNN.  Since there is such a heated political atmosphere in which the right wing will look for any racist penumbras, then its the appointed official who bears the responsibility.  She should have never said this.  She wasn’t thinking about how this would affect the PRESIDENT.

    I say, BULLSHIT!

  • FembotsForObama

Leaping without doing adequate research.  This sounds exactly like Obama’s MO.  Remember when Obama who was the chairperson of the committee on the war on Afghanistan not holding a single meeting to discuss said war, which is now his “war of choice”, because he was campaigning on his Euro-trip?  Remember when Obama was shooting his mouth off at the Hawaii airport about how he would be so tough and even INVADE Pakistan?

Not doing your homework absolutely reflects upon how you handle any policy, let alone Obama’s incompetent handling of foreign affairs!!!!

  • FembotsForObama

Did anybody hear how Sherrod was making this point — the powers in control dividing the haves from the have-nots by race, by any means available so that the powerful can remain in control — despite her laudatory comments for Obama?

  • FembotsForObama

I think you are full of crap.  She is talking about her advancement and journey within the human condition.  We as humans are ALL subject to feelings of bigotry (racism is the application of that bigotry in a position of power).  She showed how she struggled with that.  cheezum, we can’t even talk about being “spiritual beings” anymore to make a point about our own personal development?  Is this what this country has come to?

And I’m speaking as a person whose parent was part of a very conservative religious cult, and agnostic.

These lawyers attended special government seminars to deal with the special bankruptcies allowed for small farmers, approximately 13 of whom qualified for the 2-week filing timeline.  Ms. Sherrod, not working for the USDA at the time but as the head of a Georgia field office for the Federation of Southern Cooperative/Land Assistance Fund, sent this white farmer to one of those pre-approved lawyers.  The farmer, finding no satisfaction, went back to Ms. Sherrod.  Hearing his awful plight, she swung into high gear and first, intervened with the bad white lawyer and then, took him to another lawyer.  (She did not specify his color in the tape, except to say, the lawyer had helped black farmers.)  I never heard the audience accepting racism.  Ms. Sherrod preceded her discussion about the white farmer by saying, “God will put things in your path that you realize that the struggle is really about poor people.”  Then, she tells her story.  Culturally speaking, Ms. Sherrod was ‘testifying’ about her faith in practice.  (Did you see how she used her hands to motion in the spirt of redemption?  ‘It was revealed to me…’) Her audience was ‘witnessing’ that testimony. Any outward signs of affirmation for her story were not in support of racism but in support of her testimony as to how her faith opened her heart.  (It’s a cultural thing; maybe people here missed that.)

While I cannot agree that some poster is more full of crap than you Fembot, I do agree with those that  feel that turning this into some blinding flash on the road to Damascus is ridiculous.

Screw you on the “spiritual beings” comment.  It is not your job or anyone elses’ to decide whether Sherrod was being spiritual or not.

Maybe she changed her story because she saw herself being taped. Maybe after such a long length of time, a few of the facts have been lost or distorted or virtually made up.

The real evidence is that Sherrod made herself look good at the end by switching the white vs black theme to the poor.  Is she spiritual? No one one here knows that anymore than they know what color undies she has on today.

    Get over yourself.

“The Spiritual” moment leaves a lot to be desired. Vilsack, stated in his press conference, Sherrod, emailed him last Thursday with concern over this video possibly be coming out. If she had such an epiphany with her “Spiritualism” years ago she would have handled this situation differently. One may now wonder how she knew this video may be released to the media.

Bret Baier made clear what her feelings were when he pointed out what she said to Media Matters after refusing an interview on Fox.  About Fox, she said this:  “They are after a bigger thing, they would love to take us back to where we were many years ago. Back to where black people were looking down, not looking at white folks in the face, not being able to compete for a job out there and not be a whole person.”  This suggests she still harbors resentment after all of these years.
Realizing at the time she was being taped she switched gears and decided to use her “Spiritual Awareness”  as cover for what she had originally set out to offer on the matter.
