Since this comment, I've seen McCain respond pretty well.

When Obama tries to link McCain to Limbaugh, and then outright lies about what Limbaugh has said to make McCain seem like he is an anti-hispanic racist, then I think it's pretty clear that Obama has gone into 'mean and nasty, and full-on liar' mode.

I am certainly no political authority but read somewhere that since Hillary is just a junior senator she would not be eligible for majority leader. Too Bad!

I hope that the hardworking folks who don't have access to computers and read only the lies in liberal newspapers and TV programs somehow hear by word of mouth about all the connections Obama has to Marxists, communists, and all the leaders financially supporting him that are bad dudes as otherwise with his fraudulent voting scams across the country he just might pull a out a win.

His voter registration of people who really are not in tune with his lies and bad dude connections could put him over the top as I have heard people say things like "Oh I think it would be nice to have a black president for a change" Boy if they only new the kind of change this particular black candidate would bring. I am PLUM SCARED of these easons for voting for someone?

OUCH! Ease up! That comment has some substance to it. The Democratic party has now what the Pubs have never had: half the party is angry and willing to do something about it. Reforming a political machine is cumbersome, but, with the numbers starting a viable 3rd party that speaks for the moderates of both Pubs and Dems may have wide appeal and be easier to launch in the wake of the hijacking by the far left. Just a thought. Both parties are talking WITH each other, when was the last time that happened? Cant blow ideas out of the water because they have an R or a D after it...

The Gov here in WA, Christine G. only beat the republican candidate by about 100 votes. This state can definately swing either way. I am independent now, and after lifelong democratic voting, I am for MCain Palin with enthusiam. I know Hillary will vote for them, too. Don't beat Hill up, please. She is a wonderful lady. I am not going to second guess her. I am a very feminine woman who shod horses for a living for 15 years. I love men, but I think we need women in office. I am so happy to have voted for Hill, and will vote for Sara with delight.

If you look at the economy on a state by state basis, the blue states tend to have poor economies. Not all, but they tend to.

O rilly? Is that why red states take many more welfare dollars per citizen than blue states do? Is that why red states consistently come in at the bottom of national rankings in education, the environment, and income, while ranking at the top in crime and divorce statistics?

The Democrat party is undergoing an internal power struggle between true, moderate populist democrats and some radical, socialist extremists.

Um, no it isn't. The only people who might be considered "radical socialist" elements of the Democratic Party are Dennis Kucinich and Bernie Sanders (who actually happens to be a member of the Socialist Party). But I don't see either one of those individuals wielding much power in the Democratic Party. What I do see is a bunch of Republican-lite scaredy-cats tilting further and further to the right vs. the brave moderate populist wing (best exemplified by the Clintons) that you cite.

Hello. I'm a Regan Republican (almost). Fiscally conservative, hawkish on foreign policy, and socially liberal. Maybe libertarian is a better description.

Obama's policies scare the crap out of me.

I think what we're seeing is Obama in his first real campaign, ever, and his inexperience is shining through.

If you look at the economy on a state by state basis, the blue states tend to have poor economies. Not all, but they tend to.

I grew up in a democratic house and I'm amazed what the DNC has become. The last Democratic candidate I supported was Carter. I almost voted for Clinton. I was very unhappy with with Bush not delivering on his promise of bi-partisianship and was leaning Democrat this year. But after watching the DNC primaries I was horrified by what I saw.

The Democrat party is undergoing an internal power struggle between true, moderate populist democrats and some radical, socialist extremists.

It's a shame. However, this is the first group of democrats onlin that I've found that aren't going crazy throwing insults around making fools of themselves.

You give me hope. I probably wouldn't have voted for Hillary, for the record.

Despite the author, theres a really good article on the economy in the wall street journal.
http://online.wsj.com/public/article_print/SB122126282034130461.html

I found this article to be very interesting.

Good Luck!

There's a smile on mine too! :-)
I always felt that there is a large conservative base outside of New York City. Even New York City is not just Democrats. Remember, Pataki ran the state for 12 years until 2006. His Successor Eliot Spitzer... well, what can you say about a democratic reform candidate who pledged "to change the ethics of Albany" and then turned out to be just another dirty politician.

His successor started his time as Governor admitting to extramarital affairs.

And some of you people would be surprised if voters in NY would not flock to a reform candidate who promises the world and pledges "to change the ethics of Washington"???

Right.

And Mr. "We haven't seen an economy like this since the Great Depression" is hosting a 28k a plate dinner in Beverly Hills.

That's $28,0000.00 per person for the privilege of dining with the One.

If it's the Great Depression, shouldn't he be out there on the street handing out apples and a slice of bread?

LET THEM EAT CAKE!

Here's a fascinating connection:

The Republicans gained control over all three branches of government in 2000. They immediately began to take apart the New Deal—a perennial fantasy of the far right.

Eight years later...and America is teetering on the brink of the Second Great Depression.

Q: Is this a coincidence?
A: Only to a Republican. ;-)

It must be so frustrating for the Democrats to have their tactics backfire this way.

After all, the Republicans have used the same methods for decades with great success--and been called political geniuses for doing so.

If you think the Democrats have been a waste of space for the last 60 years, you shouldn't be hanging around here. PUMA is a Democratic group. There are plenty of right-wing blogs and forums where you can rail against Democrats, and none of us here would miss you all that much.

A class in recent American history class might be good. Find out which party gave us the longest sustained period of economic growth in history, and other fun facts. ;-)
