Why Obama Bears the Blame for Sherrod’s Firing (UPDATE–BREAKING NEWS)

The earth’s orbit around the Sun may be knocked out of kilter if the spin going on in Washington surrounding explaining Le Affaire Sherrod gets anymore frantic. As noted in Bronwyn’s Harbor’s post on the press conference by Ag Secretary Vilsack, we have been told repeatedly that Vilsack and Vilsack alone is responsible. Good soldier. Take the bullets for the boss. But Vilsack is not that stupid to have done this on his own. A white guy firing a black woman without checking with the White House? Bullshit!

But here’s the reality. BARACK OBAMA WAS BRIEFED YESTERDAY AND TODAY ON THE SITUATION. Don’t take my word, here’s the official Barack mouthpiece:

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

So here’s the question that no one in the media dared ask:

When Obama, the Chief Executive of the United States Government, was briefed on the situation did he even have the common sense to suggest that everyone hold their fire and investigate the facts first? Simple answer–FUCK NO!!!!

Tuesday morning Robert Gibbs Deputy, Jim Messina, was doing a victory dance at the morning staff meeting at the White House for getting on top of this story. Ben Smith reports:

In a closed staff meeting Tuesday morning, a senior administration praised elements of the White House’s initial response to a partial video of a speech by a Department of Agriculture official — a response that the Administration has since reversed.

White House officials yesterday afternoon told reporters they did not press Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack to demand the resignation of Shirley Sherrod, but that they stood by the hasty decision; last night, they took credit for pressing Vilsack to rehire her when a fuller video revealed that her remarks had been edited to mean the opposite of what she said.

But three Democratic sources said deputy chief of staff Jim Messina singled out the White House’s initial response to the incident for praise in the regular 8:30 a.m. staff meeting Tuesday morning. The sources differed on the substance of Messina’s praise, but concurred that he had praised the speed of White House communications in response to the flap, which was driven by a misleadingly edited video posted to Andrew Breitbart’s Big Government website.

And then we have Shirley Sherrod’s own account that, and she says, the White House had called three times pressing for her to resign.

Who is in charge of the U.S. Government? An incompetent former Governor from Iowa who supposedly rushed to judgment and canned a black woman without even giving her a chance to explain?

But this is not an aberration. HELL NO!!!!

It is the classic behavior of Barack Obama. One year ago today Barack Obama was shooting off his lips from the hips with respect to the arrest of Professor Gates in Boston:

He admits he does not “know all the facts.” JESUS CHRIST SAVE US!!! Here’s a man with the ability to launch nuclear weapons. He is supposed to be in command of US troops engaged in fighting two wars. And he acts without getting all of the facts? He did not learn a goddamn thing from the debacle surrounding Professor Gates. A smart person should have learned from that experience to get all facts possible before reacting. So here comes Tom Vilsack to the White House (or maybe Vilsack briefed Robert Gibbs). In any event, someone briefed Barack Obama that a black woman in the Department of Agriculture was seen on a snippet of tape making some outrageous racist remarks. Did Barack Obama ask his staff to get to the bottom of this? HELL NO!! Did he ask if her comments were taken out of context? HELL NO!! At a minimum they stood by idly doing nothing while a woman denied due process was publicly embarrassed and financially harmed. At worst, and this is more likely, Obama made it clear that she must go.

Obama is in way over his head. He is not competent. He has never had to manage personnel or a large organization. Confronted with this new challenge he is drowning. And like a drowning man desperately thrashing in the water, he’s taking us, the American people, under with him.

Damn the fools who voted for this clown and gave him the Presidency. He is not worthy and certainly, with each passing day, not competent to do the job.

UPDATE–BREAKING NEWS: I am sick of the Obamabots trotting out the “whitey tape” to excuse the incompetence of Barack Obama. Then I saw the following video from Good Morning America, featuring Andrew Breitbart and Media Matter’s Eric Boehlert.

Here’s the news. First time. The primary source, the person who first confirmed to me in detail the existence of the “Whitey Tape” is an employee of Media Matters. Got that? I got it from a Democrat. If Boehlert continues with these specious nonsense then I’ll be happy to let Media Matters deal with the whole enchilada of spreading “racist” lies. I have taken enough shit for this and I am done.

Larry, as a middle manager, I would have known how to handle this better than anyone in this administration.  She’s in the catbird seat now…as she knew she would be when the rest of the tape was played out.  It will be interesting to see which way she jumps.  She won’t even need a lawyer for an unlawful firing suit.  They’ll be stumbling all over themselves to settle with her.  And…if she stays, she can pretty much own Vilsack.  Heck, maybe Baby Doc too.

I’d sure hate to work for this bunch.  They truly don’t know s**t from Shinola.

What abouth the NAACP came out in god speed to get her fired but the new black panthers they backed to this day ? Something is wrong

  • Annie Ak Mak Cracker

You have that right.  Very wrong.

  • TeakWoodKite

I told the sane half last night “Maybe BO is gonna invite her over for a beer.”

This indifference of BO’s is on “FULL Metal Jacket” display. BO is making the Keystone cops look like mental giants.

    (a skin crawling UG!)

  • Docelder

He is a “community organizer”. I wish that instead of just making fun of what he was back in 2008, that people like Palin had instead taught everybody what communiy organizers actually do. They divide people, they build resentments in groups of people against one another. There is nothing that community organizers do that would prepare anybody to unite a diverse group or a diverse interest of people… let alone this entire country in the time of crises. I don’t get why that was and is so hard for people to fathom. Of course he is incompetent to lead. He has no experience at it. We needed a leader. Instead we got punked.

  • Kim

As I was watching Vilsack doing his mea culpa on TV, I thought to myself how easily these people, in the Obama administration, are willing to fall on their sword to protect his sorry butt.  Vilsack is the fall guy and the one really responsible for this decision will get off scott free.

  • Buzz water cracker Latte

I wonder if an employee of a different race or color under the same set of circumstances (ie:  speaking about race at a virtually race promoting meeting) would be forgiven and reinstated so quickly.

Or would the MSM skewer said hypothetical employee as racist ad nauseum?

  • arabella trefoil

The dog days of summer are only just beginning and Obama’s foot soldiers are falling on their swords to protect the Emperor. Or may the foot soldiers are just tripping on their togas and falling onto their swords by accident.

The steps are slick with blood, so be careful. You don’t want to end up like Sejanus.

  • Cindy

Larry—-I’m in total agreement with you on this.

The Obama administration is Keystone Cops-meet-Three Stooges-meet- Flip Wilson’s Church of What’s Happenin’ Now.
    Unbelievable!

  • Annie Ak Mak Cracker

Are you suggesting “the Devil made him do it?”  LOL.

  • Tamara Cracker

Ahh, but you forget, Obama and his minions get a pass on everything.
They have the Journolist folks to hide the truth about him to get him elected, and to spread the lies about anyone who opposes him.

I like the way Kevin Jackson puts it.

or The Devil is in the details?

  • HARP

I`m not buying her “Come to Jesus” moment. Vilsack, in his press conference, admitted he received an E mail from her last Thursday, voicing concern over this video possibly coming out. If she was such a saint, why would she worry about this and HOW did she know it might come out?

  • Samb

Yesterday,  I tuned into Glenn Beck and as I started to listen to him I realized that Mr. Beck was side stepping a trap , he was right because his name had been brought into this. I truly believe that whoever made the tape thought that conservative commentators would have jumped all over this and instead Obama and Vilsack jump the gun. Ask yourself what would have happened today, if Beck, O’Reilly and Hannity had jumped on this without viewing the entire tape, FOX and others would have been called racist.
I believe, that there is more behind this, it just did not
    work this time.

  • Annie Ak Mak Cracker

Now we have trolls with actual pointey heads.

  • Olivia1998

I heard the same comment.  Did anyone catch the name of reporter or news organization?  I don’t buy it either.  Something stinks.  Andrew B did play her “Come to Jesus” moment part of the tape the media including Fox are running scared.

  • Whitey Tape…I can haz?

“why would she worry about this and HOW did she know it might come out?”

It was already out on the Youtubes. The lie was already put in place. It just took the weekend for Breitbart to grease the palms of the right Republican Fox News operatives.

  • felizarte

I suppose, scheduling the signing of the “financial reform bill on Wednesday”  choreographed to follow the BP capping and the Cameron visit.  This Sherrod incident was totally unexpected and managed to shadow all of that carefully planned tableau. Ironic that the issue (race) that he deliberately launched in 08 and has been playing at his convenience should now boomerang and hit him on his behind.  And Obama was so reliant on his “black” base.  At the very least, it should demonstrate to his “base” that Obama will not hesitate to throw anyone under the bus to protect Obama.

  • Buzz water cracker Latte

This is the way I feel also.  This incident has a certain odor about it.

Obama & Co. proved nothing, saved nothing, and improved nothing.

One thing this debacle has done – put the spotlight of racism firmly where it needs to be placed – starting with the NAACP.

  • Sassy

Agreed Harp! Vilsak also left the news conference to meet with the Congressional Black Caucus. Bret Baier just read a statement that Mrs. Sharrod gave to Media Matters, in which she said Fox News wanted black people walking by whites with their heads down and not getting jobs.
I think she just won the lottery, and I know who will be paying up!

  • Diana L. C.

I agree that POTUS has handled this incident in a completely juvenile, partisan way.  I agree that almost every person, government agency, and news outlet commenting on it has been incredibly wrong to some extent.  I am sick of knee-jerk journalism.

I understand that Breitbart’s Big Government did mention the complete nature of the speech, but says it was trying to highlight the nature of the audience reaction to some of Sherrod’s comments as she mentioned her original prejudice toward the caucasian farmer–but in this age when nobody reads, the edited video clip was all that anyone paid attention to.  They knew that would be the case, so despite what they said they were trying to focus on, they should have known better.

The complete lack of effort to verify any of the facts before forcing someone to resign on the part of the NAACP, Sherrod’s boss, and anyone from higher up in the government was illegal.  She should sue.

BUT….don’t feel really sorry for Sherrod because she still sides with these people who forced her out.  Bret Baier made clear what her feelings when he pointed out what she said to Media Matters after refusing an interview on Fox.  About Fox, she said this:  “They are after a bigger thing, they would love to take us back to where we were many years ago. Back to where black people were looking down, not looking white folks in the face, not being able to compete for a job out there and not be a whole person.”

I do have to admit that there are extreme conservative elements on Fox, though I don’t believe it about all, and Beck did do a good job on the incident, as you pointed out, Larry.

I am just very tired by the many sever divisions in our country.

The whole thing stinks.  As an English teacher, I am reminded of Alexander Pope’s mock epic poem “The Dunciad” and of an American novel with a title that alludes to this poem The Confederacy of Dunces.

I am giving no one a pass on this whole incident.  When will we be a nation run by adults again?  Were we ever?  I am tired of this type of news—it’s constant, it’s draining, it’s embarrassing.

We are a nation of Dunces.

By her saying this just proves  she still harbors these thoughts.

  • Buzz water cracker Latte

Oh now tell me that Shirley Sherrod is not racist!  LOL!^^^^^

  • Buzz water cracker Latte

Frankly, I think she realized she was being taped and changed her story.

  • Peggy Sue

There are no innocents in this fiasco.  This is what happens when you play with fire and insist on injecting race into every bloody thing.  But for a President of the United States to jump the gun, make hasty, wrong-headed decisions, again and again? That should make us all pause.

If the WH can’t get this right, why should anyone be assured he’s going to be cool and level-headed under a “real” crisis or God forbid, if that 3 a.m. call actually comes in and everything depends on his decision-making.  Is he going to be asking his team about “appearances” then or how it plays in the polls?

This is why you do not put an inexperienced man into the Presidency.  Why voting “present” isn’t good enough and why “just” words can’t save the day or much of anything else. There’s no leadership here, only distraction and sleight-of-hand.  Vilsack did a credible job today, but there’s no way I think he was acting merely on his own. He’s being the good soldier.

The Administration wants this all to go away.  If it takes Sherrod and Vilsack’s bodies to make it happen?  Who cares?  Everyone’s expendable for this gang, anything to give the illusion that the hot air balloon is flying high above the clouds.

Well, guess what?  The electorate has taken their magic glasses off.

    WhiteyTape can I haz,

“Gates” is not is  his base. He is the President of We The People. He is required to follow the Constitution.

Again, Obama is supposed to be the President of all the people not just his base.

If you think the Whitey tape is the worst of our problems no wonder unemployment is through the roof and Obama has spent more money than GWB.

I have criticized politicians that I supported or even voted for.

Whitey Tape blind worship is dangerous. It leads to dictatorships. Check out history books.

But call me a racist. I’ll be waiting. Cuz it’s gonna be good.

  • Diana L. C.

Would you just mind reading what Larry wrote and what some of the others on the comment thread pointed out? I do not have to answer to some obviously juvenile commenter who has determined, based on NO EVIDENCE that this blog is racist, so you like to keep digging the country deeper into this hole.

Will you explain why some of the friends of MO tried to defend her against the so-called “whitey” tape by saying she was really saying, “Why’d he”?  Would you explain her masters thesis, though you probably can’t find it since, like everything regarding the Os, millions of dollars have been spent to scrub all access to their records.  I read it before that happened, and it was nothing but unsupported drivel–based on the evidence she proived–trying to prove that the AA community was getting short changed at her school, which many thousands across the country would like to attend but can’t since they are not qualified for affirmative action.

When we can point out that there is, indeed, reverse racism and not be accused of racism, then I will allow you to make comments on racism to me.  I do not deny that there is an element of racism against AAs in the country.  I just deny that it’s coming here on this blog.

I stand by my stance, O acted like a juvenile on this matter.  He’s the worst president I have ever lived under in my long life.  The whole country is becoming increasingly juvenile in its whiny, teenage-style behavior.

    http://gatewaypundit.firstthings.com/

It’s days like these that you begin to wonder is there anyone in this administration who is not a communist, radical, socialist, terror-sympathizer?
You really have to wonder some days.
Guess what? White farmer-hater Shirley Sherrod is linked to Bill Ayers.
Reader Dude Meister discovered this information:
An announcement of Ms. Sherrod’s July 2009 appointment to her USDA position at ruraldevelopment.org gives off quite a few clues:
RDLN Graduate and Board Vice Chair Shirley Sherrod was appointed Georgia Director for Rural Development by Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack on July 25. Only days earlier, she learned that New Communities, a group she founded with her husband and other families (see below) has won a thirteen million dollar settlement in the minority farmers law suit Pigford vs Vilsack.
This must-read story at Illinois Review and The Washington Examiner also reveals that Ms. Sherrod’s husband is a former honcho in the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee back in the 1960’s. You can read more about it in Bill Ayers book “Fugitive Days.” Yes, that Bill Ayers. He was involved in SNCC as well.

I read on CNN that she had been offered a job by the USDA in “civil rights” and hadn’t decided whether or not to take it.

“Vilsack declined to go into detail about the new position he offered Sherrod, but suggested it would be one relating to civil rights claims that black, Hispanic, female and Native American farmers have made against the department over the years.”

I did say yesterday to wait ’til the ‘dust settles’….

We might find ourselves in a pile of manure….

  • lorac

And it makes me suspicious, how in the first part of the tape, she kept saying that the white farmer was trying to show her that he was superior.  If this whole thing was simply a story to show how she had moved beyond racism, why, in the post-growth retelling, wouldn’t she have phrased it “I perceived that he was trying to act superior”, or “it seemed…”….?

It’s also disturbing that 20 years ago she was so racist.  I really think people teach this to each other.  Did she choose to live a separatist existence, in an echo chamber in which she couldn’t experience reality?  How in the modern age did she manage to live a life with such a narrow-minded, judgmental worldview?  Geez, take the chip off the shoulder and experience reality!

Anyway, even if the Sherrod part drops out, a real issue remaining is that NAACP audience.   They were really into the first part of her story.

  • Buzz water cracker Latte

Actually this could prove out to be a bandaid that got ripped off a whole lot of corruption.

I do not think this is deep.

I think the Axelrod team was trying to send a message to voters that they, unlike the Tea Partiers, expell racists.  They mad a mistake.  A big one.  Even the Rove’s and Axelrods mess up sometimes.  Here is what I hope will happen:

    Her life story is compelling.

Sherrod will get book offers;  She will be convinced that Holliwood will do a movie on her and her family’s life; she will never have to worry about an employer dicking her again.

That is my hope for her.

Screw the rest of the players.  I care not how Fox looks after this.  I care not about the Obama image.  I care about how Americans view the White House.

So, I hope the nexus of this story goes away from the political forum and goes to her amazing life.  I, for one, want to know how you deal with a murdered father.

I have no interest in the politification, by either party, of what happened in the past week, when her 60 year life is much more important to our national history archives.

  • ctfsh

Odd coincidence. Maybe … NAACP is taking marching orders from BHO? Nahhh

  • Buzz water cracker Latte

In March of 2010 she was a federal employee when she gave this speech.  The incident was supposedly 24 years ago.

Evidence piles up that she has been connected to the Black Panthers through her husband’s affiliation and the SNCC which in turn was working in tandem with Bill Ayers also through her husband.

This isn’t some sweet little lady that got caught in the crosshairs.

  • ctfsh

So all you No Quarter people are a-okay with Breitbart’s despicable misuse of the Sherrod tape and with Fox News playing the manipulation for it’s own political objectives?  You all can’t get past your own hatred of Barack Obama to see what this Sherrod story is really all about.  This story is about an average American fighting back against ALL THIS BULLSHIT going on via the Internet and blogs like this.  She told a genuine story of personal transformation and Breitbart purposely distorted it to serve his objectives.  Despicable.  She is the hero of the story to be celebrated; but you all are so focused on throwing stones at Obama because that’s your end game.  Getting rid of him.

  • Obama: Dubya 2 Electric Boogaloo

    dang, couldn’t resist..

Breitbart is a partisan hack. That’s his job. BHO is the president. He has control of nuclear weapons. He didn’t learn from the Cambridge cops incident to ask for the facts first.

He’s a shaky cannon, and that is scary.

  • Tamara Cracker

    You’re an idiot.
She was fired Monday afternoon before FOX covered the story.

If your “God” Obama is so smart, why didn’t they wait to get the full story before firing this “hero”.

By the way, the journolist people, who are the REAL propogandists behind Barrack’s election, have their photos posted on a site.

    THESE are the MANIPULATERS.

    CB,
No, I’m not okay with Breitbart’s act on this.  But he’s not a Government official and has no power to fire or hire.  This is about the juvenile behavior of Government officials who are supposed to act like adults.  They didn’t.

  • Armymom

And after her story, she started with her “racists” bombs. Everyone against the healthcare is a “racist” according to her. So much for her “ah ha” moment. Breitbart’s Sherrod tape had the whole encounter concerning her “epiphany” but I guess some people are too stupid to know that. This story has legs about the Pigford suit and reparations being paid, a shit load of money. I say let’s see more of the whole tape because even the NAACP’s tape was edited. Let’s hear the “whole unfiltered tape” and let’s ask some questions of Shirley about the USDA and the Pigford suit and her and her husband getting $150,000 each for pain and suffering. Go look it up buddy. This isn’t right. Oh and you better watch Fox and check out Beck because he stuck up for her. Catch ya later CB, after you do your homework and check out Beck and read up on ole Shirley and the suits. Then come back, with your head out of your ass.

Do you think FOX is too blame for the firing of this woman?  Are you suggesting that the White House gets it’s talking points from FOX?

    Now THAT is RICH.
And if true, it shows what  complete buffoons Obama and his staff are.

I want to hear from Eric Boerlart. Did you Eric B tell Larry J about a Michelle Obama videotape in the primary of 2008?

  • ~~JustMe~~

Black racism: a real problem, or pure politics?
Is black racism a real problem? Or is it pure politics?
Shirley Sherrod was dismissed from her Agriculture Department job because remarks she made almost a quarter century ago about her dealings with a white farmer were perceived as racist. She was offered her job back Wednesday because a full viewing of that speech showed it to be a tale of racial reconciliation.

  • Babs

The NAACP had the complete tape all along. So, if you were in charge of a group that you knew had no “racist” leanings, as the NAACP describes itself, wouldn’t you have searched high and low to find that complete tape, knowing that no racism existed in your organization and that you could prove it? Instead, the NAACP denounced Mrs. Sherrod immediately, which tells me that they just assumed the rest of the tape was racist in nature, a case of self incrimination at its finest.

I think Mrs. Sherrod should have quit while she was ahead. With her “racist” accusations against Fox, whom I believe reported on this only after she had been fired, she has revealed herself to be a typical left wing hack, blaming a media outlet for reporting a story, but not mentioning the NAACP and the administration who made the knee jerk reaction to denounce and fire her without a moment’s hesitation.

  • Aed

I recall the outing of the whitey tape. Upon reflection it now seems that this was just another staged event to retract from a real possibility of an event. After Larry mentioned the leaker for the first time, this is exactly what happened with Bush’s national guard records. For years, the locals knew the truth. But to quell the story once and for all and to make those who promoted it look like idiots, apparatiks released it to sources who would promote it, with preparedness to immediately debunk the story and make the messenger the villian. Tried and true tactics by both sides.

  • TeakWoodKite
  • Ani

And furthermore, Glenn Beck of FOX came down on the side of Ms. Sherrod and didn’t feel she should have been fired over this and wondered why the administration didn’t at least let her explain her side of things first and why the NAACP had the full tape in the first place but did not release it.

  • Jackie

“The primary source, the person who first confirmed to me in detail the existence of the “Whitey Tape” is an employee of Media Matters. Got that? I got it from a Democrat.”

First, of all, why it should be a surprise that a Democrat got you excited about a “whitey tape”?   Your totally unsubstantiated rumor appeared in the waning days of the 2008 Democratic primary battle.  Of course someone from Hillary’s camp was talking to you about the made-up tape.  A Democrat.  Many articles covering the whitey tape lie referenced Hillary’s people being all over it, praying that it existed and would save her at the 11th hour from losing the nomination.  Or, at the every least, kneecap the man who had defeated her.

Second of all, no need to use the bullshit word “confirmed”, Larry.  As in, “the person who first confirmed to me in detail the existence of the ‘Whitey Tape’.  No one “confirmed” it for you, because as you admit, YOU’VE NEVER ACTUALLY SEEN IT.  There is no such thing as confirmation of a videotape one has not actually seen, no matter how titillating your “source” made the “whitey tape” sound in their totally unverifiable description.

  • Jackie

I think the racism is real otherwise we wouldn’t have the likes of Wright, Sharpton, Jackson, Farrakhan, and the NAACP still hanging up the racist banner at every opportunity.  No one would be buying into the schtick. Obama used it very effectively 2 l-o-n-g years ago.

Shirley getting her job back may have had more to do with skeletons in the black racial closet (think: Black Panthers and Bill Ayers) than her being forced to resign.

This is damage control. Plain and simple.

Well, one thing we’ve all learned, it’s really vile to falsely accuse people of racism for political purposes. Karma, baby. What goes around comes around.

It’s interesting, because just a few days ago I was disgusted with ThinkProgress for making a video that falsely accuses tea partiers of racism. They have since edited one piece of it and admitted that the clip they used wasn’t even from a tea party. But they still have done nothing about taking a man’s words out of context and blocking out his black wife and children in the background, so as to make him appear to be a racist.

If it is the administration’s fault for firing Sherrod over a false racial controversy, then it is no less your fault for whipping yourselves into a frenzy every time Breitbart tosses out this racial red meat.  You eat his shit every time he throws it your way.  You help to sow racial divisions with your hateful, daily rhetoric here attacking African-Americans, and the moment the White House reacts to someone like Breitbart out of fear, and pushes someone like Sherrod aside in the hope that the racial flames fanned will die down, you jump all over them, too.

You all have cheered on Andrew Breitbart every step of the way.  Any single one of you who condemns the White House now for briefly believing him is a hypocrite of the highest order.  You have all along believed every word, every tape, every frame-up he has ever put in front of you.

    What “racial red meat”?
You mean, the TRUTH about groups like ACORN who offer to bring YOUNG GIRLS into the country for PROSTITUTION?

Jackie, your head is so far up Obama’s ass that you wouldn’t know the truth if you were told by Obama himself.

And yes, I’d believe anything that Brietbart says over anything that the Journolist Propaganda machine says any day.

Yeah, but I bet squealing racism is rapidly going down on the list of dirty tricks over in the libtards’ corner.

The truth no matter what the dust-ups is that Obama and the dems can’t run on their achievements because the voting public hate their results.

They have no public mandate for Healthcare.  They are pissing the majority off over AZ and immigration.  There have been no real jobs created that effectively get large numbers of people back to work in permanent positions.  And the economy is still tanking in housing starts, mortgages, and retail.

  • Jackie

    They’ve got nothing else.

This President will destroy the Democratic party.
Both parties need a do-over anyway.

  • Jackie

“You mean, the TRUTH about groups like ACORN who offer to bring YOUNG GIRLS into the country for PROSTITUTION?”

You’re a fucking idiot.  ACORN never “offered” to bring young girls anywhere.  That would be James O’Keefe who suggested that.  Several ACORN offices turned him out.  At least one called the cops on him.  The one office who didn’t say enough to condemn what he was doing still required James to (yep, this phrase again) selectively edit the tape to make it seem as though the office was implicitly endorsing his prostitution project.

“And yes, I’d believe anything that Brietbart says over anything that the Journolist Propaganda machine says any day.”

Right.  That’s because you’re a fucking idiot.  You’re a hateful sheep who will follow anyone off any cliff as long as they lead with hate.

The funniest part about that is that even Andrew Breitbart has admitted that’s not true.

Obviously, it is your decision but if I was holding and if I had taken the heat over telling the truth, I just might tell the rest of the story regardless.  This media matters organization is a political hit squad, and they never let a little thing like the truth stand in the way of a big lie.  In the old days, I used to fight with an organization called The League of Conservation Voters which was strictly a front organization as well, and its real goal was to knock off Republicans, and in those days that is what I was.  Unbeknownst to many Bruce Babbet was its founder.

  • FranSC

It would not surprise me that today’s NAACP is taking marching orders from 0bama.  With rare exception, AAs respond to 0bama as though they are looking at the face of God!

They are incapable of seeing the slightest flaw where this mortal man is concerned and are quite happy to be totally submissive to him.  Any flaps, in their mind, are due to the devil’s work by FoxNews and all those racists out there.  The fault never lies with their unexpected gift from God that they are convinced will change the course of history for all of them.  So, the NAACP would be happy to worship at his feet and wait for his orders.

  • FranSC

Exactly, I’m a Dr Kracker.  After the second part of the tape was released, with the exception of Hannity to some extent, everyone at FoxNews was very sympathetic and supportive of Sherrod, especially Glenn Beck.  Her comments about Fox have been very unfair.  Anderson Cooper was a complete jack-ass tonight about his preconceived notions about Fox’s role in this.

  • Bonnie Jean Burris

Mr Johnson, I really am not trying to be contrary and I agree with your opinion of this prez, but again I have questions. Why was the edited tape played repeatedly by FOX news when the blogger had posted more of the tape. Is it true and would it be worthwhile to mention Ms Sherrod’s father was murdered by the KKK? These are honest inquiries ( not intended to cause controversy), but after watching the full tape and listening to the testimony of the wife of the farmer who says she and her husband would have lost their farm without her help, I cannot understand why some people continue to call her a racist and concoct conspiracy theories in order to hold on to what they clearly want to be the truth. I am offened. I, like many on your blog, was called a racist many times for my support of Hillary Clinton and I knew in my heart it wasn’t true. JMO, but I believe this is a person who deserves redemption who has been and is still being victimized.

  • Mormaer

This is why she was pressured to resign so the agititating hubby would not be fingered and dug up. She was the innocent “why did this happen to me and everyone is mean” until their litigious history and swampy political activity is exposed.

  • Mormaer

The remarks were made 4 months ago not 25 years ago. The incident she was talking about happened 25 years ago and she is still talking about it 4 months ago. Just a clarification.

  • creeper

This was a setup…another racial incident directed toward keeping us divided.  Whites get whacked by Sherrod’s remarks and temporarily placated by her firing.  Blacks get whacked by her firing, then placated by the apology.  We all get riled up once more.

I’m not convinced Ms. Sherrod’s self-admitted racism is such a thing of the past.  She took pains to refer to the white farmer thinking he was “better” than her.  Evidently something’s still rankling with her.

They are jerking our chains.  And we are following along like good dogs.

  • creeper

On further consideration, actually whites got whacked at least two times…once when Sherrod abandoned the farmer in need and once when she made the speech to the NAACP.  You could make a case for three whacks if you count her rehiring.

And here I am falling for their little ploy.  Damn me and damn them all.

  • creeper

Jackie, honey…juries never hear some statements directly but when several people testify to them it’s considered “confirmed”.

Did that help you understand?  If not, check out the definitions of “confirm“.  Number two should cover it.

They’re jerking your chain too, Jackie.  You just don’t realize it.

    The New Racial Mess

    National Review Online,
    by Victor Davis Hanson

    Original Article

    7/22/2010

Weren’t we supposed to enter a new age of tolerance with the election of Pres. Barack Obama? His half-black, half-white ancestry and broad support across racial lines suggested that at last Americans judged each other on the content of our characters — not the color of our skin or our tribal affiliations. Instead, in just 18 months of the Obama administration, racial discord is growing and relations seem to have been set back a generation. Black voters are galvanizing behind Obama at a time of rapidly falling support. White independents, in contrast, are leaving Obama in droves….

    L’Affaire Sherrod:
    Quick Question Crumbles
    Capehart’s White House Cover

    NewsBusters,
    by Mark Finkelstein

    Original Article

    7/22/2010

Jonathan Capehart is the early frontrunner to win my Obama Parrot of the Week, the dubious award I hand out on my local TV show to the media member most avidly toeing the White House line. On today’s Morning Joe, the WaPo editorialist, trying to suggest the White House was not involved in the firing of Shirley Sherrod, offered a strained theory of how Sherrod misunderstood what she was being told by a USDA official about the White House wanting her gone. But when Willie Geist asked the obvious question, Capehart’s house of cards largely crumbled….

Shirley Sherrod, a Family Farmer’s Friend

    By Willie Nelson

Shirley Sherrod has been a great friend to me, Farm Aid and family farmers for 25 years. She has always worked to improve economic opportunities for family farmers in the South, going back to when I first met her as the director of the Georgia Field Office for the Federation of Southern Cooperatives/Land Assistance Fund. Like Ms. Sherrod herself has said, she’s always tried to help those who don’t have so that they can have a little more.

The real story of Shirley Sherrod deserved to be told a long time ago. She has had an amazing impact on the lives and livelihoods of hundreds of families and communities throughout the South. Farmers of every race have struggled with the income inequities that have persisted for generations, and advocates like Ms. Sherrod have moved mountains to ensure that families can remain in their homes and on their farms.

While all family farmers in our country face an uphill battle to stay on their land, growing good food for rest of us, black farmers have lost their land at an alarming rate, faster than any other family farmers. Lending discrimination and inequities in agriculture programs are largely responsible for the shrinking number of black farmers. Farm Aid began supporting the Federation in 1985, where Shirley worked at the time, because of the group’s unique ability to reach out and help struggling farm families in the South. Many had owned their land for generations and were, and continue to be, under constant threat. We continue to support the Federation’s work to this day, and hundreds of farmers are still on their land because of Ms. Sherrod’s efforts.

During her time at the Federation, she fought to make sure that family farmers got what they needed to stay on their land. She has been a national leader for family farmers and a compassionate, courageous advocate for all struggling family farmers. Shirley Sherrod has dedicated her life to working on behalf of family farmers, civil rights and the alleviation of poverty and it’s up to Secretary Vilsack to right this wrong immediately.

This country desperately needs more farm advocates with Ms. Sherrod’s expertise. But this is not just about a job — it’s about ensuring that Shirley Sherrod has the opportunity to continue to support family farmers and the rural poor, something she has spent her life doing.

Well guys, I had the feeling this story was staged. It was. This administration wants to have a race “problem” going into the mid term elections. Why? To mobilize minority voters who have no reason to show up really. Barack has done nothing for them. Maybe to put some fuel back into the “white guilt” machine. I had thought this lady was sacrificed. Maybe now she was privvy to the game all along. Time will tell. But, as Larry asked me on the other thread… who is the cracker? I can say without hesitation any of us who is either white or conservative can be painted as the cracker by this media whenever it is convenient. That can include Vilsack, Breitbart, Beck, FOX it doesn’t matter. This is the real story behind this particular story.

  • Armymom

Do you have any proof that he’s not. Everytime he’s in the toilet in the polls, or just plain doesn’t know what the fuck he’s doing (daily) he plays or has his cretins, play the race card. Larry do you really think the President of the United States has time to deal with kind of bullshit; ie. firing a low level bureaucrat?? come one that does not sound logical, paritcularly given how short the times spans were here (a couple of hours). do you really think someone came in and fully briefed Obama in literally an hour or so since the video came out and then he said fire her. I think Obama has got better things to worry about.

Makes perfect sense that Vilsack did it on his own, but he may have given someone in the WH a heads up.

It is funny how you are turning the story around and trying to find blame somehow with Obama. The real villians here are Andrew Breitbart and FOX News who as usual push lies and distortions.

Nice Try no direct proof from Obama. He’s too smart for that. He has his minions to do his dirty work. I have noticed Obama never comdemns false accusations of racism, never condemns the media for playing the race card, and never says a word  when those inside of his Civil Rights Division openly state they will only investigate claims by one group of select Americans.

But that’s not racism. Goodness no.

Shirley Sherrod: Another Community Organizer Enjoying her Reparations?

    <img style=”margin: 0px 0px 5px 5px; width: 60px;” src=”http://illinoisreview.typepad.com/.a/6a00d834515c5469e20133f271dc56970b-75wi” alt=”O’Brien”/> by Teri O’Brien
    IllinoisReview.com
    July 21, 2010

As usual, the talking heads on television discussing the Shirley Sherrod matter are missing a huge part the story.

When I first saw the now ubiquitous video, which Andrew Breitbart released yesterday, featuring United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) now-former, for the time-being, official Shirley Sherrod’s provocative comments at an NAACP meeting in March and her subsequent immediate termination, I wondered whether Ms. Sherrod had considered trying to save her job by telling Secretary Vlisack that she is a member of the New Black Panther Party. Granted, like many of the ruling class, he may not have heard of that organization and their thuggery at a Philadelphia polling place in 2008, but she could have referred him to Attorney General Holder.

It was not surprising that, with their approval numbers falling faster than Nancy Pelosi’s last facelift, the Obama administration would fall into a flop-sweating, heart-racing panic over any discussion involving its, shall we say, race consciousness, especially one coming out on the same day that we received confirmation of what we have known for years, that the supposed objective journalists who claim to be bringing us the truth were engaged in an all-out effort to suppress the story of Barack Hussein Obama’s enthusiastic 20-year membership in a church led by an openly-racist, anti-Semitic, American-hating screeching loon of a preacher.

The Strange Saga of Shirley Sherrod, Part 2: Her Spouse

    By kingsjester
<img src=”http://kingsjester.files.wordpress.com/2010/07/charlessherrod.jpg?w=132&h=150″ title=”charlessherrod”/>Charles M. Sherrod, husband of the now-famous Shirley Sherrod, was born in Petersburg, Virginia.   He went to college at Virginia Union University (B.A., 1958, B.D., 1961) and attended Union Theological Seminary in New York, receiving a master’s in sacred theology in 1967. From 1961 to 1967 Sherrod was Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee field secretary in Albany, Georgia.  He also directed the Southwest Georgia Project for Community Education (1961-87) and New Communities, Inc., a cooperative farming project, from 1969 to 1985.   He served on Albany City Commission from 1976 to 1990 and in 1996, he ran unsuccessfully for Georgia state senate.  Sherrod currently works as chaplain at Georgia State Prison, Homerville, Georgia.

“The person who was passing this story (and it was confirmed by an independent source not a Democrat) is a key person in Media Matters.”

Larry, which version of this story are we supposed to believe?  In this very post, you wrote the following:

“The primary source, the person who first confirmed to me in detail the existence of the “Whitey Tape” is an employee of Media Matters. Got that? I got it from a Democrat.”

So it’s either “an independent source, not a Democrat” or “I got it from a Democrat”.  This kind of blatant, constantly re-occuring contradiction in the way you have told this story is why no one with any sense believes a word of it.

Looks like a case of giving the little lady enough rope. The more she talks the more she reveals that she hasn’t changed much from the racist she was 24 years ago.

If she was smart she would shut up before she does herself more damage. But I’m betting she won’t. Too much hate and resentment in her makeup to do that. She wants her voice to be heard. Unfortunately for her, her voice is doing her more damage than good.

She may have stopped using her position to “punish” those who’s skin isn’t the right color, in her bigoted eyes, but she is a long way from race-neutral or just a poor little victim.

I have to tell you, Rick, I don’t want to put her on too high a pedestal. I don’t think she would want that. But I kept thinking about Nelson Mandela as I heard her story, because he had to overcome the same sort of hatred on both sides. And he became this larger-than-life figure and I think we all loved him and revered him because he was able to grow like that. And there is that quality about her story.

    FROM THE COMMENTS:

Finding meaning where there isn’t anyThu, 07/22/2010 – 02:22 ET by KC Mulville

This Sherrod story tells us a lot about ourselves. (Pause for yawns.)

OK, maybe it doesn’t. In fact, it says almost nothing useful. But of what little it says, it says a lot about the media. It says that media bias is dangerous. This whole episode started with the media trumpeting a “statement” issued by the NAACP that the tea party was racist. The NAACP issued it to make headlines, and the media jumped on the story so they could once again repeat the same lie. The media hadn’t uncovered any new evidence, but the mere fact that the NAACP had issued a statement gave them license to repeat the lie. (Hint: if you want media airtime, issue a statement that says exactly what liberals believe. They’ll air it.)
This conjures up Nelson Mandela level meanings? What an insult to Mandela!

    Read more: http://newsbusters.org/blogs/brent-baker/2010/07/22/shirley-sherrod-reminds-cnn-s-gergen-nelson-mandela#comment-1296968#ixzz0uQGm5LZG

  • Jackie

Jackie, honey…juries never hear some statements directly but when several people testify to them it’s considered “confirmed”.

Creeper, your analogy to testimony doesn’t hold up, because no one has “testified” in this case.  These are all anonymous sources that Larry has dribbled out one after the other.  There is no one on record saying they have ever seen the tape.  There is no one on record saying they were ever at the event in question.  And even if there were, it still wouldn’t be enough evidence to confirm without the actual videotape.

And isn’t that more than a little bizarre?  How can a major event like that, where a woman as famous as Michelle Obama allegedly goes off on a racial tirade in an open forum, not have a SINGLE WITNESS come forward during the presidential election?!

Even more unlikely, how is it possible that a tape like this exists, and Andrew Breitbart has not located and shown it to the world?!  The man offers $100,000 for copies of JournoList for crying out loud!  Are you telling me he wouldn’t be offering at least $1,000,000 for the biggest bombshell tape ever?  Do you actually believe that if anyone, anywhere, had a copy of this, it wouldn’t have gotten into an anti-Obama operative’s hands by now?  It just strains credulity to the breaking point to believe this tape could possibly exist, Creeper.  There are too many people too heavily invested in Obama’s failure, with extremely deep pockets and endless human resources, for this tape not to have come out after all these years.

All we have is Larry’s story that some anonymous person has told him they saw it.  A story that changes all the time.  Just in this very post, he first claims a Democrat tipped him off, and then he later calls them “an independent, not a Democrat”.  His story has changed constantly.  You say they’re “jerking my chain”.  Kettle, black.

  • Jackie

And you know this how?   Is it because Larry told you or are you just guessing?  Which is it?”

Larry has said all along that he has not actually seen the “whitey tape”.  This admission, in addition to being true (it doesn’t exist, of course he hasn’t seen it), has the added benefit of protecting Larry from a very serious defamation suit.

You see, it’s one thing to claim that some anonymous person told you they’ve seen a highly damaging video of a public official.  It’s quite another to claim that YOU’VE seen it.  At that point, it’s put up or shut up time, and if you don’t put up, you could be out millions.  Especially when you’re trying to destroy someone like Barack Obama.

By stopping at the water’s edge, Larry was able to disseminate the “whitey tape” story in the media (always remember that the story begins and ends with Larry) without being legally responsible for libel.  It’s Information Ops 101, something Larry obviously has extensive training and experience in.  He’s full of it, but he ain’t stupid.

  • tango

Oh and apparently, Ms. Sherrods husband was a leader of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee back in the 1960’s.  Apparently, Bill Ayers, you know that man who’s just a guy in Barack’s neighborhood and no way no how a terrorist, was also involved in that group and talked about it in his book “Fugitive Days”.  Hmm, small world huh?

    http://illinoisreview.typepad.com/illinoisreview/2010/07/shirley-sherrod-another-community-organizer-enjoying-her-welldeserved-reparations-.html

And off topic, but I heard on Sean Hannities radio show yesterday that the Judge in the Blago case ruled last week that the defense could not call any other witnesses unless Rod Blagojevich testified first. Huh? Why would a judge require the defendent to testify first before allowing his defense team to call any other witnesses?  That just doesn’t make sense. I can’t find a link proving that’s true though so ?.  But per witnesses in court, the defense is putting on a good case and they think the prosecution is going to lose.  What an embarassment for the prosecution. I knew they should’ve followed it through to the point that the favor was provided so to have an iron clad case. But that would probably mean a few of the Obama Administration people would do down too and just like the media, they didn’t want to tarnish Obama.

Breitbart’s original article with the video of Sherrod, has been so misrepresented by the liberal blogosphere and media that it is important to point out that Breitbart INCLUDED the full context of the speech from the very beginning in the text of his blog post, pointing out that Sherrod’s intention was to . His point, which he stated clearly, was that the laughter and nods of approval at Sherrod’s tale of her own racist behavior–before she explained her turnaround–was the entire point of Breitbart’s blog post all along.

The NAACP was forced to acknowledge it, and in a statement, said the behavior of the NAACP representatives at that speech, was “DISTURBING.”

In my view, Andrew Breitbart has done nothing but appropriately point out the NAACP’s rank hypocrisy, and it’s own racism.

I listened to about 5 tapes of her NAACP speech and took notes.  Sherrod said – we endured 8 years of Bush & we didn’t do the stuff the Republicans are doing because now we have a black president.

She speaks about the health care debate – there are mean-spirited people – the racism we thought was buried has resurfaced.

At the end of the tapes, she talks about loans from the Rural Development Housing Program where a single family with a good credit history can get a 100% private loan for a house.  A 100% loan is one of the reasons the mortgage industry is upside down.

Tea Parties exist because Democrats have refused to listen to the voice of the voters once they took control of the WH & Congress. Sherrod’s cry of racism is an insult to Americans that have legitimate reasons for opposing the HC bill.

Congressman: Obama buying votes in Kenya   MUST READ
The Obama administration is buying votes in Kenya, charges Rep. Chris Smith, R-N.J., the ranking member of the Subcommittee on Africa and Global Health.
WND reported Monday the Obama administration has funded $23 million of U.S. taxpayer dollars through the U.S. Agency for International Development, or USAID, to support the passage of a Kenyan constitutional referendum Aug. 4 that would increase access to abortions and authorize the operation of Islamic law tribunals in the East African nation.

The government is being sometimes “held hostage” by Fox News and other media outlets, the chairwoman of the Congressional Black Caucus charged Thursday. Rep. Obama has apologized to Sherrod, so when is he going to apologize to the democrats for being a republican???

  • Ana

Sherrod was on the “Morning Joe” program on MSNBC this morning around 8:30am.  What I found interesting was that in the interview Sherrod said she was e-mailed the video clip that was given to Brietbart last Thursday but she doesn’t know who that was.  Sherrod then said she forwarded the video clip and her explanation on to the USDA.  On Friday Sherrod checked in with USDA and asked what to do about it.  USDA told Sherrod that they were turning everything over to the USDA media people.  Sherrod said she didn’t hear from USDA again until Monday afternoon around 3pm when they informed her she was then on Admin. leave pending review.  Sherrod was then asked on the third call Monday afternoon to pull the car over and to text in her resignation.

Sooo the USDA had the information last Thursday but fired her on Monday afternoon in a rush to make sure it was done before the Glenn Beck show aired????

    Thanks,

Another interesting thing from that same interview…  Sherrod was asked about how she knew her father was murdered by the KKK.

Sherrod’s response was that her father was murdered in the spring and then in August of the same year, a cross was burned in her yard.  Sherrod knows it was the KKK because ”only the KKK would have burned a cross in her familys yard because there was no man of legal age living in the house and only the KKK would have known that” (Sherrod’s brother at the time was only 3-4 months old).

Did the KKK only burn crosses in yards of houses that had no men living there?

Too bad we can’t ask Senator Byrd now…  he’s the only KKK member I knew of….

Yeah, why offer pity to a woman who grew up in the Deep South, whose father was murdered by a white farmer who was never prosecuted because it was the Deep South and he was white and her father was black, a woman who developed a distrust of…white farmers after that incident, who went on to overcome that distrust to help…white farmers, and then gave a stirring speech about it, only to have that speech maliciously edited to the point of getting her fired and publicly humiliated?

Why offer any sympathy to someone like that?

Forget Shirley Sherrod, Andrew Breitbart is the real victim.

That’s what Ann Coulter believes, anyway.

“The whole key to this story is that Andrew Breitbart was set up,” the fiery right-wing writer told Sean Hannity on Fox News on Wednesday. (snip) When asked by Anderson Cooper on CNN Wednesday night, Sherrod suggested she may consider a lawsuit against the blogger. “You know, I don’t know a lot about the legal profession, but that’s one person I’d like to get back at,” she said….

Washington – President Barack Obama and his family will vacation on Florida’s Gulf Coast next month, the White House said Thursday. The Obamas are scheduled to travel to the coast on Aug. 14 and stay the weekend. More details about precisely where they would stay were to be released later, the White House said. Obama has made four trips to the Gulf region, including one overnight stay, since an underwater well began spewing oil into the Gulf of Mexico in April. First lady Michelle Obama is making her second visit to the area on Friday….

I am going to be the rebel here, Although I sympathize with what happend to Ms. Sherrod the point is that she made a racist comment that triggered applause by the black audience for her not helping the white person initially.  The underlying tone still exists that the NAACP is just as racist as the KKK.

That was the point of the Breitbart post.  The reaction Ms. Sherrod triggered is what matters.

And what I find amusing in a morbid way is, that Ms. Sherrod was shit on by her own people.  Funny how they turn on you so fast…..   but but but… no fucking excuses she was shit on by her own period.  Thats fucked up!!

    In Defense of Andrew Breitbart

    Human Events,
    by Dan Riehl

    Original Article

    7/22/2010

The media and progressive-left Democrats now appear in a rush to convict Andrew Breitbart of shoddy journalism, while exonerating Shirley Sherrod and the NAACP from charges of abiding racism within their ranks. Both Sherrod and the NAACP have charged the Tea Party movement and the Republican Party with racism, while offering less proof than Breitbart did of the racism he correctly alleged. In many cases, the Left has outright manufactured evidence of racism regarding Tea Party events, yet no one has raised a voice about that slander at all….

    West Virginia,

The story about her murdered father is indeed important, and it explains her inability really to trust whites.  I do understand how an incident like that can hurt so deeply after all these years.

But I don’t think you would find an account of how “you deal with a murdered father,” as you put it.  She has NOT totally learned the lesson about the horrors of racism.  She is still bitter and distrustful and unforgiving and has not fully dealt with his murder.

I am always upset that I should have to take the blame for the slavery in this country or that many of those alive now in the country must always apologize.  My ancestors did not come to this country until the early twentieth century and never had slaves in the country they came from.  A few in our country–the POTUS included–do have ancestors who owned slaves, who made money from the slave trade, who were involved in supporting the Jim Crow laws.  BUT….I would say a very large majority of the people alive today are sickened about the country’s history of slavery and oppression of Blacks.  The history of the KKK in America is shocking and embarrassing, but I know NO ONE who embraces the KKK.

There comes a time when you move on from your tragedies and find peace.  Some people seem to me to be opening their acestors’ graves and continuing to pick the scabs from their bodies and not allowing them to rest in piece, and many deny the sacrifice of hundreds of thousands of white young men and women who died during the Civil War to right some of these horrible wrongs.

Remember that Jackie’s reading skills (I’m still voting for “lack therof” in regard to her intelligence) are minimal.  The sentence Larry wrote is clear to me–the person from Media Matters told Larry that such a tape existed.  Since this person is associated with Media Matters, he/she is obviously a Democrat (a pretty progressive one at that).  Larry got a confirmation of this Democrat’s contention that such a tape existed from an “independent” sourse who was/is not a Democrat.

I know that Jackie is really capable of reading only simple sentences.  Complex and compound sentences are really beyond her comprehension level.

Question… is it possible that Sherrod herself was the one who sent the video clip to Brietbart?  Sherrod said she had the video clip on Thursday.  Brietbart didn’t post it until Monday.

I meant of course “source,” not “sourse.”

And I might add that I’ve read this blog since 2008 during the primary.  Larry has never changed his story on this.  It appears to me that this incident is similar to the Rev. Wright incident.  Left-leaning journalists have decided what is in “our best interest” for us–forgetting that most of us had very good parents and that we can judge for ourselves what we think is our best interest.

To deflect from the serious Rev. Wright scandal, they keep repeating the mantra “racist.”  Then, though they know MO, who had a major part in getting O involved with the organization that Rev. Wright calls a “church,” though what he preached in it was not like anything I learned in my Christian church.  Her involvement in that “church” tends, in my mind, along with the stupidly argued masters thesis she wrote but scrubbed from the internet after some of us were able to read it, to support the contention that she indeed made “whitey” comments then.

These people involved in setting Larry (a Hillary supporter) up to lose credibility smacks of the same tactics we’re now reading about from the Journolist cabal.

HOUSE PANEL CHARGES RANGEL WITH ETHICS MISDEEDS

By LARRY MARGASAK, Associated Press Writer JULY 22, 2010<!– end .byline –>

    WASHINGTON

    – A House investigative committee has charged New York Rep. Charles Rangel, the former chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, with multiple ethics violations.

The charges were announced Thursday. The panel’s actions sends the case to a trial on the allegations. A separate ethics panel will decide whether the alleged violations can be proved by clear and convincing evidence.

The Democrat led the tax-writing committee until he stepped aside last March after the ethics committee criticized his conduct in a separate case.

Sources said the committee and Rangel’s attorney attempted unsuccessfully to negotiate a settlement to end the case. The sources spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss private discussions. A settlement would have required Rangel to agree that he violated ethics rules.

For some reason, Obama’s inept handling of the leadership decision-making aspects of the Presidency reminds me of an old made-for-TV movie starring the late Rock Hudson as POTUS.  Rock has the (then Soviet) Premier on the hotline, trying to talk his way out of a nuclear war.  When it becomes apparent that Rock isn’t up to the task and thinks that the Premier may launch a nuclear first strike against the US, Rock, overacting with a heavy heart, reaches for his phone and presses the red “Hold” button (the scene intending to portray that POTUS has decided to launch a first strike so as to have the strategic advantage and the red button on the phone being the means by which POTUS gives such a command).
Whether we like it or not (to coin an Obama phrase), we Americans have put Obama in the Oval Office and given him the power to fry the planet.  His ham-handed (sorry, Muhammed!) handling to date of the simplest of public affairs radar screen blips gives me great pause when I consider the trust that America, and indeed mankind, must have in this man.

“[White House press secretary Robert] Gibbs said people in the administration and outside of it acted without all the facts,” the Associated Press reports. Alas, he wasn’t referring to ObamaCare, the stimulus or the new financial regulation law but to a personnel matter: Shirley Sherrod’s forced resignation from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Conservative blogger Andrew Breitbart on Monday falsely reported that Sherrod said at an NAACP event, in Breitbart’s words, “that her federal duties are managed through the prism of race and class distinctions.”

As we noted Tuesday, the NAACP swiftly denounced Sherrod for racism….

  • Jackie

“The onus is on you Jackie to prove it is a lie or that the tape doesn’t exist.  You’re the plaintiff, Jackie, prove the crime.”

No, you have it completely backwards.  Don’t you know anything about the criminal justice system?  Larry is the one who has been alleging that the tape exists.  Larry is the one doing the accusing.  Larry, in effect, is obviously the “plaintiff”, or prosecutor.  And Michelle Obama is the defendant, accused by Larry of going off on a racial “whitey” tirade.  The burden of proof is not on the accused, as you should know.  Larry has to prove the tape exists in order to keep claiming that it does, and “convict” Michelle Obama (i.e., destroy her reputation).  Neither Michelle Obama nor anyone else is responsible for proving that it DOESN’T exist, just because Larry says it does, even though he admits he’s never seen it, nor has a single source gone on the record who says they’ve seen it.  No one is capable of proving a negative.  Larry may like to play by that rule (“prove I don’t have a whitey tape!  ha hah, it’s impossible!”, but no one else in a functioning society does.

Now, you do make sort of a point: I can’t fundamentally prove that Larry is lying about the tape.  I can only say that all of the evidence points to the most LIKELY explanation being that he simply is lying.  The fact that his story has changed repeatedly as to who the source is (it used to be Republican operatives, then it was a mix of Democratic and Republican operatives, yesterday it was a Democrat from Media Matters, today it is an “independent” from Media Matters?  Who is going to be next week?  Gary Coleman?).  The fact that he has never produced a single source willing to go on the record, despite the unbelievablly intense political pressure behind documenting such an incendiary video.  The fact that no well-financed political operatives, like Andrew Breitbart, Sean Hannity, Matt Drudge, Roger Ailes, you name it, has ever been able to unearth this scoop of scoops.  The fact that the story did not appear in the media until Larry put it out there himself.  Would Larry actually have us think he is the only person anyone would take a tape of this kind to for publication?  Not FOX News?  Not Andrew Breitbart?  Not Richard Scaife?  Not Hugh Hewitt?  Not Human Events?  Not Townhall? (I could go on forever, you see my point).

Ask yourself this question: why would Larry write the following email to reporter Dave Weigel, back in the summer of 2008, if Larry was telling the truth today about it being a Media Matters employee who was his source?  And why wouldn’t any of the “Republicans” he mentions have leaked the damn thing by now?

    http://www.prospect.org/cs/articles?article=larry_johnsons_strange_trip

“A person who saw the tape said the word ‘whitey’ was used. I don’t know when or where she made the remarks. I do know that the Republicans who are circulating the tape don’t want this out until after the convention. Those are the facts as I know them from multiple sources who do not know each other. I stand by their accounts.”

    ***********************

These are the same people who obsess over a birth certificate.  The same who insist Obama is a Muslim.  Are you telling me these people would not produce a “whitey tape” in a NY minute if they had one?

Finally, the fact that Larry still insists he believes it exists…somewhere.  That’s just sad.  A man of Larry’s intelligence and experience in intelligence gathering surely knows that no such secret could withstand scrutiny for this long.  The tape would HAVE to have come out by now.  It is a physical impossibility for it not to have.  Especially given the half dozen or so “sources” Larry claims have had their hands on it at one point or another.  Professional Republican operatives.  Media professionals.  These are not exactly the types of people given to keeping damaging political secrets quiet.

Breitbart: ‘I am public enemy No. 1…’
An unrepentant Andrew Breitbart told POLITICO on Thursday that the Obama administration and its allies have manufactured a controversy over the video he posted of Shirley Sherrod’s speech to the NAACP as part of an orchestrated effort to take him down.
“I am public enemy No. 1 or 2 to the Democratic Party, the progressive movement and the Obama administration based upon the successes my journalism has had,” Breitbart said in a telephone interview late Thursday morning as he headed to the airport for what he said was a long-planned, three-day vacation.

Also that “content of character” thing vs. “color of skin” seems to have been tossed by the wayside.

This by our “post racial” administration.

The POTUS sets the tone for the country. Why do you think during Woodrow Wilson’s time the Klan could stage large rallies down Pennsylvania Ave? Because Wilson was a racist.

There may not be  large rallies such at that in this century but anyone who dares to voice an opposing opinion is either a racist or an Uncle Tom.

How is that different from the bigots of the past?  That their opinion and their point of view is the only viable one. If you don’t fall in line well…..

The only difference is these people have not yet resorted to physical violence that they will admit to.  Remember the beating of the black man by Obama supporters at the Tea Party event?  Where was the media outrage then?
But you can only push people so far before they push back.

It’s times like these that I’m reminded you are a very stupid person, who doesn’t know anything about anything.  You’re just angry.  In a stupid way.  A very, very stupid way.  Go get yourself a chicken sandwich.

    Tex-Mex,
If you know Austin and remember the old Mexican restaurant on the drag, you’ll know that they STILL give you crackers and butter instead of chips and hot suace.
    See how stylish you are?!

Me too. They (USDA and NAACP) were too quick to try and take her off the table.  They showed their hand.  And now we all know that Shirley is a bit of a radical with ties to the Black Panthers and Bill Ayers AND got money from the government.

Why do the words “Scam Artist” come to mind?

  • ~~JustMe~~

Shirley Sherrod said this morning on CNN that she would like to “get back at” Andrew Breitbart. Former USDA official Shirley Sherrod says she would consider a defamation lawsuit against Andrew Breitbart.

Good pay off, book, movie and get rid of one of “O”s biggest headaches!

  • CindyWhiteBaguetteW/OliveOilForDipping

is it possible that Sherrod herself was the one who sent the video clip to Brietbart?

Ana—That is really an intriguing question!!!!

  • Buzz water cracker Latte

Stay classy, Shirley.  What that she permantly blew any notion that she’s had a Come to Jesus moment.

Nah, she’s just a nasty old radical with a chip on her shoulder.

  • Buzz water cracker Latte

    With that…blew any notion…

  • Ana

    Buzz,

Sherrod’s only proof that the KKK murdered her father was because the KKK burned a cross in her yard.  Sherrod says only the KKK who murdered her father would have known no man was in the house because the KKK murdered him.

Sorry for not being clearer in my first comment.  My fingers type slower than my brain sometimes…

There are just too many things that don’t seem to mesh together appropriatly in Sherrod’s whole ever expanding story.

She’s gone? I just thought someone had sprayed some Febreze.

I think that perhaps the Republican Party is trying a do-over. At least some of them are. There seem to be a lot of younger members of the GOP who are pushing back against the nutscakes and “old bulls” in their own party.

The likes of Sarah Palin, Nikki Haley, Paul Ryan, Chris Christy, Bob McConnel, Mitch Daniels, Bobby Jindal, Tim Pawlenty, Karen Handel and many more I can’t remember off the top of my head.

They may not all, or any be your cup of Tea but I do think that collectively they represent a break from the “Jerry Falwell” Republicans.

There are several in the list that I personally would not only vote “for” but would happily vote for. This is coming from someone that until 2008 had never voted for a Republican in her partisan pinhead life!

No Ms. Lee, the only thing you are held hostage to is your own stupidity.

  • Mark Ft. Lauderdale

Larry, your anger reflects exactly what so many of us feel.   The dishonesty out of this regime is overwhelming.   Bush cannot hold a candle to this Chicago Mob Outfit.     As you said, this is the Man who has control of our weapons.  My God!

  • FLDemFem

Kenoshamarge, Not exempt, but they may end up under the bus faster than Obama supporters. If Vilsack had been a hard-core Obama supporter, he would probably still have a job.

YOU CAN’T FUNDAMENTALLY PROVE LARRY LIED.  YOU CAN’T FUNDAMENTALLY THEN CLAIM THAT THERE HAS BEEN A LIE COMMITTED BY LARRY. ”

That is the weakest shit I’ve ever seen on this blog.

“Type all ya want, Jackie, but enough of the blovating about how everyone else is wrong and only you know what’s right.  Your narcissism rivals Obama’s.”

Nope, I’ve never claimed I’m right and everyone else is wrong.  However, if you want to disprove any of my assertions, you are welcome to do so.  You hardly ever bother trying, instead relying on personal attacks.  It’s indicative of a weak and highly insecure mind.

    “From now on, flags, sweetpea.”

Oh wow, what a shock!  Someone at NQ is going to “flag” me!  Stop the fucking presses!  Oh the humanity!  What is the world coming to?!

  • FLDemFem

“Black voters are galvanizing behind Obama at a time of rapidly falling support.”  Whenever I read something like that, I remember that blacks are only 12% or so of the population. And not all of them are eligible to vote, too young or in jail. So, why worry about the AA vote? Even if all of them were eligible to vote, that still leaves 88% of the population who are not black and probably are tired of being called racists every time they turn around. And that 88% is a lot more likely to get out and vote that the AAs are. After all, they got their black president, their job is done, right??

  • FLDemFem

“Sherrod says only the KKK who murdered her father would have known no man was in the house because the KKK murdered him.” Bullshit!!! Everyone in the neighborhood would have known, and the KKK would have moved against anyone wanting an investigation and arrest of a white man accused of killing a black man, including the victim’s family. From what I understand, Sherrod’s father was killed by a white farmer in a dispute over some cows. He was not lynched by the KKK. The white farmer possibly was a KKK member, or had some close connections to some KKK members. In rural GA in those days, it would have been unusual for the white farmer to be completely unconnected to the KKK. But, her father was killed by an individual, not by the group itself. She is just bringing out a well-known and racist bogeyman to justify her own racism. My paternal great-grandfather was shot in the back by the KKK because he spoke out against them. He was white, and they shot him in the back on the way home from town, and then bragged about it. So I know about the KKK and how they operate. Have been involved with KlanWatch and other anti-Klan watch groups in the past. Her claim is bullshit.

  • ~~JustMe~~

Yes FLDemFem. Soooooo easy for people to show the victim card.

  • candymarl light brown cracker

Obviously this panel is racist. Where’s Obama proclaiming they’re “acting stupidly”? Journolist better get right on this one.

  • Buzz water cracker Latte

Yeah, that’s a stinker of a story from ol’ Shirley.  And by the way, wasn’t it the 1860′ish DEMOCRATS that started the KKK?

  • Tex-Mex Soup
