McCain and Babs

Andy just sent me this story, and the link to the video of McCain “honoring” Barbra Streisand:

McCain Says: Shut Up and Sing
By Eric Trager – 09.16.2008 – 7:18 PM

According to CNN, John McCain took aim at Barack Obama today for flying “off to Hollywood for a fundraiser with Barbra Streisand and his celebrity friends.”

Leave it to CNN to completely miss the greater context of this story: namely, McCain’s longtime–and hillarious–use of Streisand as his foil.

I can’t find the link to Trager’s story, but will add it if Andy sends it to me. I thought you’d find this as hilarious as I do.

The link to the video, and more like it, is here: About.com’s Political Humor.

  • Danny

That actually made me laugh! at first I was annoyed anyone would be, John is funny and I’m so glad that I will vote for him.

One other video that many will appreciate. This is something my brother, John D., and I made up yesterday.

Janeane Garofalo — and the entirety of the authoritarian and elitist left — continue to show the world how incredibly intolerant they are. Garofalo tells Maher that she would be perfectly happy to jail Republicans.

These are the people who supposedly champion free speech and diversity. Ridiculous.

In actuality, they are the most intolerant, closed-minded people in our nation.

Well, we’re going to expose them for the world to see. These are your Obama supporters.

        Enjoy:

        SusanUnPC,

The about.com link goes to the McCain video but if you try to email it to a friend from there it sends what appears to be a video of black on white.

Paul, Keep up the GREAT work.
Thanks for these videos. I will cross post.
We have to expose the voters to what Sen McCain and Sen Obama, Gov Palin, and Sen Biden are about.
Once they get to know more about these people I am certain the American voters will make the right choice on election day.
They will NOT vote for Sen Obama.

Visuals-such as You Tube videos -work well with most Americans who are used to/ more comfortable watching television.

Your productions, in my mind, are like “C Span on You Tube”. No talking heads, no BS, just history recorded for all to see and hear.

We also need the other You Tube productions where we have commentary, satire, contrast& compare formats. Sometimes people want no external input when making up their own minds and sometimes people want a little guidance in putting all the facts together and reaching a conclusion.

we need to get the facts out there. That is the only way Sen McCain has a chance in this election.

        • http://www.youtube.com/user/PaulFVillarreal Paul F. Villarreal

          Thanks, guys.

Athy, you make great points and I will do my best to make use of your excellent suggestions.

          :)

Todd Palin is terrific. Just like Gov Palin, he is genuine and a decent man and supportive of his wife and their family. Greta should do an interview of Palin. He is a terrific asset.

      • Jackie

I agree it was a great interview.

And what is more “real American” than building your own house with your own hands and the help of a couple of friends?

This man is an example to men! He is all man and not threatened in the least by his powerful and aggressive wife.

What a revolutionary pair–they are what the original feminists were shooting for back in the day.

Too funy!! on the screen of this video it says M90.org. This web site is all porn. somebody needs to take care of that. I don’t know how to get a hold of anybody, that is why I am making a comment on your post.

      • http://noquarterusa.net/ SusanUnPC

That’s strange. Well, the video is posted at About.com, which most certainly has nothing to do with porn. Perhaps someone messed with their video. I’m not going to worry about it — I have no way of editing the video anyway.

I just found this little piece of info on a little government website:
    http://www.govtrack.us/congress/record.xpd?id=109-s20060525-16&bill=s109-190#sMonofilemx003Ammx002Fmmx002Fmmx002Fmhomemx002Fmgovtrackmx002Fmdatamx002Fmusmx002Fm109mx002Fmcrmx002Fms20060525-16.xmlElementm0m0m0m

Mr. President, this week Fannie Mae’s regulator reported that the company’s quarterly reports of profit growth over the past few years were “illusions deliberately and systematically created” by the company’s senior management, which resulted in a $10.6 billion accounting scandal.

The Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight’s report goes on to say that Fannie Mae employees deliberately and intentionally manipulated financial reports to hit earnings targets in order to trigger bonuses for senior executives. In the case of Franklin Raines, Fannie Mae’s former chief executive officer, OFHEO’s report shows that over half of Mr. Raines’ compensation for the 6 years through 2003 was directly tied to meeting earnings targets. The report of financial misconduct at Fannie Mae echoes the deeply troubling $5 billion profit restatement at Freddie Mac.

The OFHEO report also states that Fannie Mae used its political power to lobby Congress in an effort to interfere with the regulator’s examination of the company’s accounting problems. This report comes some weeks after Freddie Mac paid a record $3.8 million fine in a settlement with the Federal Election Commission and restated lobbying disclosure reports from 2004 to 2005. These are entities that have demonstrated over and over again that they are deeply in need of reform.

For years I have been concerned about the regulatory structure that governs Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac–known as Government-sponsored entities or GSEs–and the sheer magnitude of these companies and the role they play in the housing market. OFHEO’s report this week does nothing to ease these concerns. In fact, the report does quite the contrary. OFHEO’s report solidifies my view that the GSEs need to be reformed without delay.

I join as a cosponsor of the Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005, S. 190, to underscore my support for quick passage of GSE regulatory reform legislation. If Congress does not act, American taxpayers will continue to be exposed to the enormous risk that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac pose to the housing market, the overall financial system, and the economy as a whole.

I urge my colleagues to support swift action on this GSE reform legislation.

Guess who said these words back in 2005 when Fannie and Freddie were still lobbying the Republicans?

Senator McCain just might being using that OODA loop strategy to let Obama swing wildly for a while accusing him of not being aware of what is going on and continuing to repeat the mantra of ‘McCain=Bush” and that McCain has never wanted change etc. Let that build for a while and then have this stuff pop up in the press? If you read the Obama campaign blog everyone is dying for Obama to make a commercial that accuses McCain of stealing the idea of change from Obama and that McCain is a liar.

What record of change does Senator Obama bring to the table from his years in Chicago politics? When has he stood up against his backers or his party to try to help people where there is no gain for him personally? I’ll wait for your answers.

No need to debate experience anymore:

“There is a fundamental difference between Barack Obama and Sarah Palin that does not even call for a debate. After beating the most experienced field of Democratic candidates that this country has to offer, Barack Obama was voted into presidential candidacy by 18 million Americans in a competitive race in which they believed he was ready to be Commander-in-Chief. Sarah Palin was nominated into Vice-Presidency by John McCain.”

Gregory on MSNBC said the same thing yesterday. UNBELIEVEABLE. That Oblahblah’s has more experience than Palin because his policy positions have been “vetted” on the campaign trail. OMG It would be so funny, if our country wasn’t going down the toilet!

      iVet-
This is an unofficial Barack Obama Advisory Board website?

Wow-so they are asking Sen Obama supporters/volunteers directly to contribute information (true/false whatever) that could possibly be used to go after Sen Mccain & Gov Palin?

Is this a taste of things to come with regards to Sen Obama’s ‘army’ of volunteers? If he becomes president- is he going to organize volunteer citizen hit squads throughoutthe country who are willing to CREATE and promote lies and propaganda on his behalf? Little by little he will convince innocent naive voters that its okay to lie- this is politics. You know…all is fair in love and war and politics is war…?

I read through some of the posts by volunteers/bloggers offering ideas to the Obama campaign.

Unbelievable. Is this one of the sources for material the Obama campaign is collecting for those “Frog attacks” that we learned about here on NQ yesterday?

The material the bloggers are posting shows you how little they are in tune with reality but hey…its a a Frog attack so who cares about T R U T H and objective F A C T S?

      This causes me great concern…

This article is from the lone conservative..
The democrats wish for defeat in Iraq and a great depression here at home…Some hope!

We know Obama thinks hope is audacious, but this is beyond the pale- Drudge even pulled this story

One of CNN’s leading Obama sychophants, Candy Crowley, let the cat out of the Obama bag, when she told viewers that the Obama campaign had wanted horrific Wall Street headlines to help their campaign. Crowley, and fellow Obama sychophant David Gergen, were extolling the virtues of bad economic news for the Obama campaign.

Of course, no one would expect CNN to actually deal with the issue of who or what party is responsible for the economy. No, their template is the economy is horrible, we are going to blame Bush and McCain and Obama will benefit.

The Drudge Report had this story on its site this morning. By this evening however, it had been pulled. Drudge must have realized how bad this would look for the Obama campaign.

It’s beyond audacious that we have one candidate for President who is full of hope. Hope that the economy is so bad, that he can win an election because of it. The conservative internet has its work cut out for it for the next 53 days.

    • JozefAL

Don’t forget that many Republican candidates for President in the (not too distant) past have used the economy for their advantage.
Reagan was the one who came up with “Are you better off now than you were four years ago?” against Mondale during the 1984 campaign. Despite his not actually DOING anything to improve the US economy, he still managed to convince people that they were, in fact, doing better. (Of course, there were a lot of people who ignored the fact that their state and local taxes had gone up after Ronnie’s great tax cuts of the early 1980s; if you were a minimum wage worker–which went up only once after Reagan’s 1981 inauguration, but that increase was already a done deal, and did not go up again for more than 15 years–your wages actually took major hits as FICA withholding increased and most state/local taxes also went up. And we shouldn’t forget that Reagan managed to cook the labor/unemployment statistics by including the military within the overall employment rate; granted, doing that only pulled the unemployment rate down by a maximum of .3%, but the psychological impact alone of a “lowered” unemployment rate led to a major economic improvement for BUSINESS–not the workers.) Also, Reagan’s virtual “greed is good” philosophy was DIRECTLY responsible for the Wall Street meltdown in 1987.
Then, the Republicans claimed, almost non-stop, through the 1990s that Clinton’s great economic recovery was actually a result of the Reagan/Bush “trickle-down” economic program of the 1980s and THEN, for most of the first half of this decade, claimed that the economic downturns during the Dubya years had their beginnings in Clinton’s last two years in office.
The overall fact is that whichever party is seen as MOST responsible for economic woes is the one that suffers in any election. All McCain really has to do to hurt Obma on the economy is point out that the Democrats have been in charge of Congress for the past year and a half and if they’d had the will to do so, they could have made major improvments across the board. (He could slyly point out that the Republicans made a similar effort in the mid 1990s after they took control but got their asses handed back to them. The key point for McCain would be that the Republicans at least TRIED to do something because they had a definite goal; the Democrats haven’t even really tried to do anything because they’ve been too afraid of Dubya’s veto power.)

Obama’s a narcissist, so he would never do a skit like this. McCain is real, and he is, as someone commented up thread, comfortable with who he is….confident without being arrogant…in short, the opposite of Obama. Obama bores me, he depresses me, he angers me, he disgusts me and he worries me because he is an empty suit and has no core.

From CNN Political Editor Mark Preston

WASHINGTON (CNN) — Lynn Forester de Rothschild, a prominent Hillary Clinton supporter and member of the Democratic National Committee’s Platform Committee, will endorse John McCain for president on Wednesday, her spokesman tells CNN.

The announcement will take place at a news conference on Capitol Hill, just blocks away from the DNC headquarters. Forester will “campaign and help him through the election,” the spokesman said of her plans to help the Republican presidential nominee.

Forester was a major donor for Clinton earning her the title as a Hillraiser for helping to raise at least $100,000 for the New York Democratic senator’s failed presidential bid.

In an interview with CNN this summer, Forester did not hide her distaste for eventual Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama.

“This is a hard decision for me personally because frankly I don’t like him,” she said of Obama in an interview with CNN’s Joe Johns. “I feel like he is an elitist. I feel like he has not given me reason to trust him.”

Forester is the CEO of EL Rothschild, a holding company with businesses around the world. She is married to international banker Sir Evelyn de Rothschild. Forester is a member of the DNC’s Democrats Abroad chapter and splits her time living in London and New York.

Since this is kind of a joke thread, courtesy of one of my redneck fishing buddies:

John McCain and Barack Obama somehow ended up at the same barber shop.
As they sat there, each being worked on by a different barber, not a word was spoken.

The barbers were both afraid to start a conversation, for fear it would turn to politics. As the barbers finished their shaves, the one who had Barack in his chair reached for the after shave.

Obama was quick to stop him saying, “No thanks, my wife Michelle will smell that and think I’ve been in a whorehouse.”

The second barber turned to John and said ‘how about you?’

McCain replied ‘Go ahead, my wife Cindy doesn’t know what the inside of a whorehouse smells like.’

  • Mamatx

    That is absolutely hilarious!!!!

    Thanks for the morning chuckle.

This McCain vs. Streisand roast (tape) was an absolute scream!!!!!!!! Although I heard about McCain’s wit, I was not a believer since I NEVER witnessed anything of this calibre. This was utterly perfect: McCain’s superb/gifted hilarity vs. his analogous skit has probably incensed the politically indigent Streisand.

  • Above My Pay Grade

I loved the “McCain Sings Streisand” clip, but I also really loved McCain’s comment yesterday in Ohio, about how Barry says he cares about the people and then flies off to Hollywood for a Babra Streisand fundraiser with all his celebrity friends. He then went on to say that there is no place he’d rather be than with the good working people of Ohio.

That was killer! And, the best part is, because Zerobama went back on his promise to work out a deal with McCain to accept public financing, McCain will have many more opportunities to zing him in the same way. Barry is going to have to spend a lot of time begging for money (in exchange for…???) from his elitist supporters, and kissing up to them.

The “bitter, clingy” working class voters will not be impressed.

That was awesome. Funniness aside, McCain didn’t really butcher the songs in that he wasn’t out of tune throughout the medley. Speaking as someone with formal vocal training, he sang rather well. Yes, the octaves were a couple lower than Babs’s, but the pitch was good.

What a sweet way to check out todays internet news.

  • WMCB

McCain is not hung up on his own “image” and his own “dignity”.

Very few politicians would have the balls to do this. I like this in McCain – his streak of irreverence that is unafraid to laugh, even at himself.

My life experience tells me that people with that trait are usually very stable, common-sense people. People without that trait are often self-important assholes.

He urged his supporters to “keep steady” in the days ahead and never forget what his candidacy is about. In case they did, he offered a reminder: The campaign “is about those who will never see the inside of a building like this and don’t resent the success that’s represented in this room, but just want the simple chance to be able to find a job that pays a living wage.”

What a TOOL Obama is. First of all it is stupid non-sensical blather. What a load of crap he spewed out of his speakhole. For someone who wants to bring people together he does a stellar job at pointing out differences. As for “never seeing the inside of a building like this” I can’t wait to see the ads the McCain camp will make out of that. Obama is such an arrogant roach he can’t stop himself.

I love this guy John McCain. He reminds me of a family member. Wow, between him and The First Dude I feel right at home.

      URGENT

      GOOD CATCH CAROL.

      URGENT-URGENT

HOW DO WE NOTIFY THE ORIGINAL PRODUCERS
      of the following:

That pornographic website link is also attached to the file on the Aboutcom website-where-I think-the video was originally embedded.

Obama trolls at work? We need to alert producers and anyone else who may be cross posting this link-

or maybe just leave the porn link on there and indicate to readers to disregard it because Obama trolls (if we can be sure) hacked into the site of the video

We need to find out out how this was done by the hackers because if they did it to one You Tube video they can do it to other you tube videos too.

Andy got the link somehow — it goes to ABOUT.COM – which is most decidedly NOT a porn site.

Don’t worry about it. Someone must have tampered with About.com’s video, and surely they’ll fix it.

I’m not going to sweat it. I had no clue what the URL was, just assumed it was another humor site.

    susanUPC,
thanks so much for this link!
This YouTube video of Sen McCain singing is hysterical.

I will be cross posting these two videos on other blogs.

The second video was submitted-if I remember correctly-by another NQ blogger.
    Thanks again

A satirical swiftboat attack from “Hockey Moms for Truth” -Hysterically funny satire on why Gov Palin shouldn’t be trusted to do anything right…You gotta love it!

P.S I also cross post excerpts from MANY NQ articles (with links to this NQ site) on other blog sites…
:) Thank you to the wonderful writers and bloggers on this site!!!

McCain has good comedic timing and has can do “self-deprecation” well too — something Obama seems incapable of.

SNL said he won them over with his sense of humor when he last appeared on their show.

    Love this video!

This has GOT to be the FUNNIEST POLITICAL VIDEO yet!

At first I thought it was some “embarassing moment” from long ago, then I saw it was probably the most brilliant way to show how ridiculous it is for Barbara Striesand and “stars” butting into business they know NOTHING about.

I’m going to send this around to all my friends today, and especially my Dem friends who have crossed over to vote for McCain!

    LET IT RAIN MCCAIN-PALIN 2008!
