It Was Only A Matter of Time

And anyone who thought differently was not paying attention at best, and was horribly naive at worse. Who here remembers how strongly Obama came out against FISA, threatening to filibuster it? Then what did he do? Voted AGAINST his Party to grant the telecom industry immunity. I could go on and on about his changes in position, but no doubt, you have heard all (or most) of them by now.

Which all leads me to this. Obama has backtracked on yet another one of his promises. I think the title of this article pretty much gives it away: Obama Says He Won’t Try to Repeal ‘Don’t Ask’ on His Own. Yep. I hate to say I told you so, but I told you so. Here’s more of the article:

Democrat Barack Obama said if elected president he would not try to repeal the military’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy about homosexuality on his own.

Obama said in an interview to run in gay publications Thursday that he wants to work with military leaders to build a consensus on removing the ban on openly gay service members in the armed forces.

He said that would not be accomplished by attaching a signing statement to a military spending bill, a process that President George W. Bush has used to set other military policies.

Uh huh. Because it has not been made ABUNDANTLY clear what bad law this is. Because other countries have not shown, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, and transsexuals can serve OPENLY in the military with no problems. Unless, of course, you are saying their military personnel are better than ours. Is that what you are saying, Backtrack?? Maybe you need to take a little listen to this man:

I might add, it is not like the Service members Legal Defense Network has not done a ton of research on this issue, or that General Wesley Clark, the former SUPREME ALLIED COMMANDER, said “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” doesn’t work. Hey, maybe THAT’S why Obama threw him under the bus – because he believes that GLBT people should be able to serve their country proudly and openly.

Obama continued:

“I want to make sure that when we revert ‘don’t ask, don’t tell,’ it’s gone through a process and we’ve built a consensus or at least a clarity of what my expectations are so that it works. My first obligation as the president is to make sure that I keep the American people safe and that our military is functioning effectively,” Obama said. “Although I have consistently said I would repeal ‘don’t ask, don’t tell,’ I believe that the way to do it is make sure that we are working through a process, getting the Joint Chiefs of Staff clear in terms of what our priorities are going to be.” (Emphasis Mine.)

“Don’t ask, don’t tell” is intended to keep the military from asking recruits their sexual orientation. In 1993, President Bill Clinton implemented the policy, a compromise after he was unable to make good on his campaign pledge to open the military to gays.

Well, what the hell do you mean by that, Obama (bold parts)?? Safety? Effectiveness? Functioning properly? What the hell does that mean??? That if you let gay people serve their country openly, that those things might be in jeopardy??

By the way, there was a consensus with all of the Democrats running this year – “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” DOES NOT WORK. It is offensive. Congresspeople have been working on this for SOME time. They have been speaking out on it for some time. Rep. Susan Davis of San Diego (big military base there, by the way), has been a very outspoken critic of “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell.” Or how about Rep. Patrick Murphy, a veteran, maybe what HE has to say will help you:

This Congressman, an Iraqi War veteran, is saying it it WRONG, and it diminishes our military for people to claim it cannot function if LGBT people serve openly, Obama, you mealy mouthed, backtracking, spineless jerk!

Oh, but wait. There’s MORE! Don’t think this is just limited to “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell.” Oh, no. How about the Defense of Marriage Act?

Obama also declined to commit to have his attorney general support a lawsuit against the Defense of Marriage Act, which denies federal recognition of same-sex marriages and gives states the right to refuse to recognize such marriages. Obama said he’s not sure the 1996 law would be overturned by the courts and he prefers a legislative solution.

Now, to all of you who keep trying to convince me what a great guy Obama is, and how he will do SO much for my community, SCREW YOU. Screw you for not looking more closely at his associates, for blowing it off when he toured all around SC with Donnie McClurkin, the “CURED” homosexual. Screw you for not paying attention when Obama asked Gavin Newsome to throw a fundraiser for him, but REFUSED to allow Newsome to have a photo taken with him because of Newsome’s support of Gay Marriage. Never mind that Newsome himself is STRAIGHT. SCREW YOU for ignoring Obama’s CLOSE relationship with IL State Senator, The Rev. James Meeks, an actively anti-gay minister, the one to whom Obama went the day after he won his Senate Seat. SCREW YOU for brushing off his CONSTANT refusal to talk to our press organizations. It was only at the VERY end of the primary that the Advocate finally got him to sit down with him, and only then because HILLARY CLINTON had come out saying she would grant us FULL FEDERAL BENEFITS. SCREW YOU for treating like shit the person who CONSISTENTLY met with our press, who marched in our parades (Obama has never marched in ONE), who assured us she would not just meet with us when she was a candidate, but when she was PRESIDENT. SCREW YOU. And SCREW YOU, Philadelphia Gay News, for saying shit like this in your interview with Obama:

You are the most LGBT-friendly candidate running for president in history. Are you concerned that John McCain and the Republicans might use this as a divisive issue as they did in 2004?

Especially after you had REAMED him for NOT speaking to the Gay Press!! What total BULLSHIT!!! What total and COMPLETE hypocrites!!!

Screw YOU, Meliisa Etheridge, for singing at the Democratic Convention and validating this invalid candidate – since when do we celebrate SELECTING a nominee instead of ELECTING one?? Screw YOU, Jodie Foster, for going to that ridiculous Hollywood fundraiser for Obama the other night – you finally start to admit you are a lesbian, and THIS is what you do?? Great. Just freakin’ great. I guess it was the “cool” thing to do, so there you go…

SCREW YOU PEOPLE who voted against your OWN SELF-INTEREST AGAIN for what – the “trendy” guy with no legislative record, and nothing but “words” for our community, and who has demonstrated by his ACTIONS that he doesn’t GIVE a shit about us! What the HELL were you thinking, Human Rights Campaign, for not endorsing the woman YOU said was LIGHT YEARS ahead of YOUR OWN THINKING on our issues for OBAMA?

If you don’t think this is a clear indication of HOW LITTLE Obama will do for our community, you are a fool. If he reneged on his other major stances, what the HELL makes you think he won’t throw US under the bus already? He has already started. Actually, he started long ago. Thanks SHITLOADS for being so incredibly naive, and supporting HIM over the one person who really WOULD have kept her promises to us. Another four years before we will have the chance again to get someone who WILL care because you SCREWED IT UP for this year, and for all of us.

And while I am at it, SCREW YOU OBAMABOTS who keep claiming those of us who won’t vote for this sham of a candidate are going to be setting back women, and Roe. v. Wade. If you had GIVEN A SHIT about women, really given a damn, or about Roe v. Wade, you would have supported the person in the race with a CLEAR and CONSISTENT record on women, and choice. But you didn’t. So, SHUT THE HELL UP ALREADY.

Sorry Amy, but I Won’t shut the hell up. I supported Hillary, but She’s out. Now I support the person who matches closest with her policies. Like it or not, Thats Obama.

You’re not going to “Show em” by voting for McCain, you will be cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Sometimes you have let go of your hate and anger. And if Obama makes a dog’s dinner of it, I’m fully prepared to support her for a challenge run in 2012.

  • wodiej

Big slap in the face to Hillary from Philly press…what a bunch of fucking ass kissers. Hillary marches in gay parades but Obama won’t even have his picture taken w a straight person who supports gay marriage?? Doesn’t sound gay friendly to me.

Did anyone watch Greta last night when she had Donald Trump on. He really likes and admires Hillary. He said she got at least 50% of the vote and couldn’t believe she wasn’t the Democratic nominee. But could not figure out why Obama piced a VP that got only 1% of the vote instead of Hillary who got 18 million votes. Greta asked why he thought Obama did that and Trump said he didn’t know, I guess because he didn’t like her, or didn’t feel comfortable w her.

All I can say is I am going to do everything I can including volunteering the week up to and on election day to make sure Obama doesn’t trample on us up to the White House. I couldn’t believe it when Bush got in. Let’s not let another incompetent, arrogant and unqualified person run our country into the ground.

Obama is a thief, a liar and a fraud.

Of course he is more in line with Hillary on a Democratic Platform. You should go a little bit deeper and investigate the guy instead of swallowing his garbage without chewing. Just because he sports a D behind his name, does not mean he is a Democrat. Just a thought.

That Rev Wright stuff, doesn’t make much of difference to me. The guy spouting the hate still remembers when someone of his color wasn’t good enough to piss in the same toilet as me. And certain parts of America thought that was fine. So I cut him some slack if he’s still angry about it.

Re the non-stop investigations when Bill was in office: it was a $40 million dollar Republican witch hunt—an impotent effort to foil a popular President.

Wikipedia The Arkansas Project—a group of loony right-wing loonies who conceived, created, and executed the biggest smear campaign in the history of the planet.

And yet Bill was still tied with FDR as most popular President of the 20th century. That’s practically a miracle.

As for corruption—forget about it. The Clinton Administration had fewer convictions and forced resignations than any two-term administration since Teddy Roosevelt.

See also The Hunting of the President, by Joe Conason and Gene Lyons—the sordid tale of how the Republicans smeared a popular President. Republicans are traitors.

This is no doubt the influence of the Black Theology extremist and his Moslem background, and I would say, of those Moslems from the Middle East today who support him for POTUS. This is a big deal to them. Yessirree, religion first, no matter how antiquated the issue and barbaric the effects…”How dare those homosexuals show public affection for each other…lets stone them”. Did you ever hear any of the Louie Fairykhan insiders talk about the issue? Its downright spook and frightening.

Odd, though, when you think about all of the ‘alleged’ gay encounters Obama has had. Its the Larry craig syndrome. In the end, I think they’re all closet queens, especially the most macho and mean sounding ones…’Prime Suspects” they are.

I wonder what Fairykhan was thinking when he read about Obama’s Limo sex and the Rezko parites? Could it have been, ” Damn, why wasn’t I invited!”

“I have investigated his background and have learned there is no 100% clean candidate.”

I doubt that there is a person here (not including obots) who would think a politician is 100% clean. No one is. It would be naive to think otherwise. That is not the point.

The point is: Obama pretends to be 100% clean. He pretends to be above the fray and yet he race-bates and engages in negative campaigning. Obama tries to portray an image that his record does not support even in the slightest. THAT is the problem.

Obama is not what he says he is. He is a thief (in regards of stealing platforms), he is a liar (in regards of almost anything that comes out of his mouth) and he is a fraud (in regards of being a D when in fact he is a Bush clone).

Wright alone is not the problem. The problem is Obama’s denial of Wright and the fact that a potential potus is so close to a person who denounces USA. That’s a problem. In addition to other slippages (and connections) that have come out of his mouth.

You can fool all of the people some time. You can fool some people all of the time. But you cannot fool all of the people all the time.

Dianne Feinstein resigns committee post amid scandal; accused of war profiteering

Feinstein’s husband Richard Blum has racked in millions of dollars from Perini, a civil infrastructure construction company, of which the billionaire investor wields a 75 percent voting share.

In April 2003, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers gave $500 million to Perini to provide services for Iraq’s Central Command. A month earlier in March 2003, Perini was awarded $25 million to design and construct a facility to support the Afghan National Army near Kabul. And in March 2004, Perini was awarded a hefty contract worth up to $500 million for “electrical power distribution and transmission” in southern Iraq.

Feinstein, who sits on the Senate Appropriations Committee as well as the Select Committee on Intelligence, is reaping the benefits of her husband’s investments.

Republicans have been comitting treason on a regular basis ever since Reagan. Reagan even sold nuclear secret s to China (which the Republican traitors later tried to pin on Bill Clinton).

But–for the record–I believe a crooked Democrat like Obama would be far worse than another Republican.

McCain’s administration will probably look a lot like Herbert Hoover’s–doing nothing as the economy implodes, paving the way for the Democrats to come in and clean up another Republican mess. Obama has simply delayed things a bit.

    White Water-no criminal wrong-doing
    Travelgate-no criminal wrong-doing
    Filegate-no criminal wrong-doing

We were instead left with a stained dress and a blow job.

The investigation as you call it was pushed for by the Republican majority in both Houses. I love how you “so-called” progressives who support Obama this election cycle forget that this was a Republican witchhunt and that when Clinton left office, he left with record approval ratings.

One of Soetoro/Obama’s major problems is that he can’t settle down and build a consensus on anything. We’ve all know people like him; they are co workers and family members who flit from project to project never completing anything and leaving their mess for others to clean up. Some of these flitters have good ideas that they don’t have the skills to implement and others are parasites living off the inspiration of others. Guess which one Soetoro/Obama is?

Obama has been running for POTUS since he became a Senator…on the public dollar for the first part of it.

Obama did not pick Hillary even though she was the clear choice to represent the D’s…he wants total control…so now we have the NEW Democratic Party.

Bush look eloquent when speaking without a teleprompter will duck and cover while his minions handle this controversy but while the firestorm rages, Soertoro/Obama doesn’t have to give us details about how he’s going to stabilize our depression-like bank failures and stock market crashes.

If you don’t think McCain didn’t learn something about the good and the bad economy from budget votes all those years, then how do you expect someone who needed a convicted criminal to help finance his purchase of a 6+ million dollar mansion to know how to do it?

  • yttik

I like all your “screw you’s”, Rev Amy, LOL.

That’s how I’m feeling towards people like NOW. It’s become the national organization of “some” women. They can’t even acknowledge the historic nature of Palin being on the ticket. Gloria Steinham, with her all you share is a chromosone. I can’t think of a more dismissive comment. Sexism often reduces women to a collection of body parts, Gloria manages to make us even smaller.

People who pay attention know that Obama resents women and he’s really uncomfortable about gays. He can wrap that up in words and empty promises all he wants, but many people can sense the truth. He’s a lot like a batterer promising never to get violent again. Some people so badly want to hear those words, they try to ignore his actions and what’s going on right under the sweet talk.

  • POdVet

He is simply trying to broaden his level of support among the religious right. If penitentiary inmates could vote he would be making promises of weekly conjugal visits and free cable tv in every cell. The man has no honor, no integrity, and no class. I just look forward to Rezko’s sentencing in October followed closely by his singing like a bird. I wonder if Obama will flee to Kenya when he is indicted!

    FOX NEWS JUST REPORTED

This just in from the Obama campaign:

Obama issues a statement that he is instrucing his team of economic advisers (his team includes some of the crooks that are part of the problem) to NOT make anymore comments about the economy until and after there is a proposal released from the current administration and congress come up with a plan first.

You can’t make stuff like that up!! LOL!

Obama doesn’t know what to do in a crisis and is waiting for other people to make the decision before he acts. That’s not being a leader.
    That’s being a follower.

Obama copntinues to show NO leadership on this issue.

    He is ALL talk!

Obama wants to vote present on the economy.

Hey Obama, a President and Commander-In-Chief can’t vote present. They have to make EXECUTIVE decisions. They have to lead.

No wonder Obama is out of touch with America and is out of touch with the duties of what a POTUS must do: LEAD

Meanwhile, John MCCain will be releasing a plan to help get the economy back on track today. McCain is showing leadership during this crisis. He gets it. Obama is voting present, again.

    Spread the word on this!

this is yet another example of putting too much faith and trust in prominent people. I am so sick of people saying they stand for something when really what they are saying is I stand for it for some people but not all. I thought the liberation of women was helping each other, promoting strength and fair treatment. Then we have women trashing Hillary and now Palin!! She’s ambitious, accomplished, strong, a mom, is not afraid to play w the big boys and guns…christ, what do they want?? You know what…they can all just KISS MY ASS. I put my loyalty in no one, not even Hillary Clinton or Bill Clinton. The economy was doing well when he was in office and he did some positive things. Hillary’s run for President was awesome. But people in Hollywood like Ethridge and Jodi Foster, who I used to admire…nope, they threw DEMOCRACY under the bus. And Bill last night in an interview touting Obama’s sorry ass. It all makes me sick to my stomach.

Obama has no set of core beliefs – a very dangerous situation in an extremely dangerous world. Our allies and our enemies need to know that the POTUS means exactly what he says when he says it. Trust but verify. With Obama there would be no trust. Just look at his sneaking around in Canada and now Iraq, telling officials one thing while spouting the opposite in his campaign appearances. Reminds me of his “bitter” remarks in a swishy SF home about the folks in PA. Foreign leaders will not trust this slippery character who doesn’t know what he stands for and constantly changes his position, if it will help him in the polls.

  • tminu

I cannot think of any issue he does not cover both ways.
    FISA

    etc.
And so, he really stands for nothing except Obama.
It’s like we’re being forced to watch a cheap stage act of magic and manipulation by a D-list performer.

As a GLBT former servicemember, this is the one issue that I really cared about, where I stll did feel that there was a distinction between Obama and McCain. It was the one issue where I still lingered with doubt about whether I could support McCain. Now, I think Obama has lost me altogether, if he can’t take a stand on DADT which SLDN studies show does not work, and the public, and members of the military say in poll after poll to lift the ban.

Conc – I don’t support parties that select their nominees rather than elect them; that engage in vote theft – lawful votes cast for one candidate and given to another; permit voter fraud (caucuses); and engage in voter disenfranchisement. This isn’t just abt my anger at Obama’s consistent flip-flopping – the only thing abt which he IS consistent, it is about a party that went against the will of the people.

That being said, you miss the point – you have NO idea if Obama is going to pursue policies in YOUR interest because he has changed on every single one of them. He is unqualified to hold this office by his thin resume, his choices, and his associates. And that has nothing to do with being angry – it is all abt wanting what is best for this country, and that is not him.

Excellent post, Reverend Amy. This is so typical of Obama, he’s couldn’t tell the truth if his life depended on it. His entire career is built on lies and corruption. I can’t tell you how many friends I have in the LGBT community who are still backing Obama. I don’t understand it and I don’t know why they continue to make excuses for this guy. At what point are people going to realize that Obama is JUST LIKE GEORGE W. BUSH! I keep hearing how “liberal” he is, but in reality, he isn’t. He’s the guy who wants to give more money toward the faith based initiatives, he placates all his friends at Trinity Church (I don’t buy all that bullshit about his leaving the church—he hasn’t gone to another one and he will go right back to Trinity after this election). They hate gays in that church and Obama has been sitting in those pews listening to the hate that is spewed at gays.

Thank you so much for your passion in fighting this man, we need a million more like you.

Y’all are making so many great, informed comments – thank you.

Oh, and someone mentioned that the Congerss changes laws, and that is technically correct. My point (and as Ellen Degeneres said, “I do have one.”) is that Obama is already backpedaling on the support for Both DADT and DOMA. He is setting it up. And you notice, that was NOT what he said. He threw in all this stuff abt safety, effective military, blah, blah, blah – not ONCE mentioning that he would work with Congress, that he would PUSH Congress, to change this law. And that one needed only look at his close associates to get an idea of what he REALLY thinks abt our community…

    CONC
You really should not be talking about Hillary. You know, on some blogs, talking about Hillary or the primaries will get you permanently banned (in all caps, of course.) Any attempt to make the owner of the blog look two faced or portray her as a flip flopper is not taken kindly. The truth hurts, doesn’t it?

As a woman of principle, yes principle, and strong principles, I must tell you that I can’t support a candidate who I grew to loathe, regardless of the issues. A D behind a name is nothing more than a letter of the alphabet. I know a lot of people who switched parties just so they could win an election. Their positions didn’t change, just the letter.

And once again, no, Hillary and Obama are not the same, in any way, including the issues. FISA? She didn’t flip flop – she voted exactly the way she said she would. Born Alive Prot Act? She didn’t flip flop, she was one of the ones who voted FOR it. She’s openly supported the glbt community. And, c’mon, now you’re saying Bill was the one who put the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy in place? Do you even friggin know why? It was a compromise – his attempt to open the military to gays didn’t receive the support it needed.

By the way, Bill wasn’t running for office this year. Hillary was.

  • http://www.rabblerouserruminations.blogspot.com/ Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy

Thanks for this link – I did it last night – and had them deliver the letter, too!

Diana – I was surprised he even did the interview, but no doubt, it is because things are tighter in PA then he expected them to be. So, in HIS mind, he probably thinks this is a big homage to the GLBT community, and the way the interviewer characterized him, it seems he was right. So, I think it is a combination of things – the economy, the Logan Act, and kowtowing to the religious right because of Sarah Palin (as in, the more conservative religious groups are excited abt Palin), and he is setting this up to kowtow to them. That would be my guess.

I am NOT surprised by him doing this – I knew he would all along. Hillary and Dennis Kucinich (ok, and Mike Gravel, who would have been an entertaining prez, that’s for sure…) were the BEST ones for the GLBT community. But, the hopey changey unicorn man was so cool, what could they do?? (That is snark, btw.)

So, it is incredibly misleading, and flat our wrong. No wonder Obama got rated as having the most negative ads in a recent study!

  • http://www.rabblerouserruminations.blogspot.com/ Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy

Freedom’s Eagle, thank you for your service to our country. How I wish that you did not have to serve under DADT…

SLDN – for those of you who don’t know – is an outstanding organization. Though I did not serve, I do belong to it – I have a friend who is serving now, and they just do great work.

FE, I know it is hard – it just makes me nuts that people refuse to actually look at what Obama says and what he does. They just seem to be star stuck, sitting there going, “Oh, he’s so DREAMY!!” (blech) instead of hearing what he is saying. Even though this was covered by a bunch of print media, and online, I sure haven’t heard a lot of brouhaha abt it…

And abt Obama’s policies – the ones with which we agree with him are often the ones he took directly from Clinton. But since they did not COME from him, he does not seem to have internalized ANY of them – that’s why he can flip/flop so much. Like others have said, he seems to have NO core values. That is why I think he is an incredibly dangerous man…

I happen to disagree that he can do any more than Bush did. So my vote is not about hating Obama or anger towards HIM.

I would be more careful about classifying people. And if we are going to talk about hate, how about all that hate coming from Obama towards people who don’t agree with him? You know, like calling them bitter, angry and full of hate?

I am not voting for McCain against Obama. I am voting McCain because I trust the man with my country. Its simple as that.

McCain will only run for one term as President. If Obama secures the position they will fix it so women like Hillary never get a chance.

  • mcpalin hill

berserk — Obama will not even help the down ticket Democrats. He doesn’t care which party controls Congress because he stands for nothing. Where are all the Democratic First Term Congressmen who need the party’s help? Why don’t they speak out?

Harry Reid asked Obama for money (which he had promised) to help with the Congressional Elections Obama said no. Its hard to come to terms with this party of idiots who allowed Obama to take over the party and shaft them at will.

Having been at receiving end of reverse racism from blacks, I know that racisms is contained in the brain, not the skin color. It is about fear, ignorance and intolerance.

Anyone who doesn’t know this can easily be convinced otherwise.

  • PhxNickD

of course he matches close to her policies, he f**king copied them. As I recall the “Oregon Compact” was copied almost word for word. Ironic that his so called great speech “Just Words” were JUST THAT!

  • Duras

Barack Obama will say anything to anyone at any time to get a vote.

Anyone who can’t see this is a fool.

dancing opposum — I think the Log Cabin Republicans are aligning themselves with McCain for the same reason that us Hillary Democrats are. McCain is a moderate and decent man whom we have all known for a very long time. Obama is at war with Gays and has been from the beginning–with his pal Donnie McClurkin.

Obama is not interested in constituancies. He is only interested in himself. So that Seniors, Women, Gays, Union Workers, Feminists etc. will all be thrown under the bus. Its all about Obama all the time.

alee21 — Hispanics will go for McCain–Obama made one of these inflamatory ads in Spanish which so incensed Hispanics that they turned on him and Hillary won the Nevada Caucus. There has been bad blood between the Hispanic groups and Obama since then. They don’t trust him. If you want to see what Hispanics are thinking now check Dolores Huerta’s website.

  • Duras

The Obama people kinda stepped in it with this ad. They’re getting negative blowback on it not only from folks like Rush Limbaugh and Fox News but also from places like CNN that are thoroughly in the tank for Obama. In fact, one black female commentator on CNN last night called it “a new low for the Obama campaign.”

  • Duras

This is why all McCain and Palin have to do is keep it close in the polls. The great majority of the undecided voters out there are middle-class and lower-middle class whites. This is a group with which Barack Obama did not do well at all in the primaries … and that was among only Democratic voters. If McCain can just win these people 60/40, he will win the general election comfortably.

[...] It Was Only A Matter of Time (by Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy at No Quarter) Obama has backtracked on yet another one of his promises. I think the title of this article pretty much gives it away: “Obama Says He Won’t Try to Repeal ‘Don’t Ask’ on His Own.” Yep. I hate to say I told you so, but I told you so. Here’s more of the article: “Democrat Barack Obama said if elected president he would not try to repeal the military’s ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ policy about homosexuality on his own. Obama said in an interview to run in gay publications Thursday that he wants to work with military leaders to build a consensus on removing the ban on openly gay service members in the armed forces.” [...]

  • Karma

Like you said Rev the writing was on the wall a long time ago. The Gavin Newsome incident tipped me off as well. Everything else was just confirmation.

Why would the publication sell out for an interview?

From these interviews with O’Reilly and a couple of others. It is clear he tries to butter them up with stories about how much they are alike before they start.

Then he was dropping some personal info in the O’Reilly interview like he even goes beyond the backstage buttering up but actually reads up on them to try and find that common ground.

It make you wonder if this guy liked the butter better than the facts?

I know McCain’s record isn’t all that great on this subject, but this quote makes it look like McCain supported Pres Bush’s attempt to make a constitutional amendment, when he really didn’t.

“You are the most LGBT-friendly candidate running for president in history. Are you concerned that John McCain and the Republicans might use this as a divisive issue as they did in 2004?”

  • Diana

I know this breaks my heart, I’ve fought hard for Diane at every turn. Gotten moderate Republicans to vote for her because she’s been so good at working with both sides. I gave up on Barbara last year when she moved so far left, she got into the radical left agenda. Now to hear this about Diane…To see where the Democrats have gone. We had to humble the Republicans in 2006. I guess the Democrats felt left out. The past couple years have been a real eye opener. We desperately need a strong third party with good candidates in this country to break the monopoly.

  • PhxNickD

Obama NEVER supported gay issues! Early on in the primary I watched him at a town hall – he was asked that as POTUS would he support gay marriage. His reply: “...the climate in congress would not let that happen at this time…” My first thought was “what happened to change we can believe in?”

To all those young and arrogant gay & lesbian kids who all knew what was best for the community and shoved their opinions in our faces – get ready to fight like we did 20 years ago to get back to this point. For those to young to know what the gay community has done to come so far – it started with Bill Clinton taking office. He made us a promise. While we were left with a compromise, he tried – he did not say “the climate in congress would not allow this”.

And to be absolutely honest with you, if McCain does appoint two very conservative judges to the bench and they over turn every single social issue, well let these young kids spend the rest of their lives dealing with it. They deserve it.

  • John House

I JUST watched that movie yesterday! Rented it. And now I rented this other movie about Bill’s presidency…I forget what it’s called, but it has a video of his first debate with George HW Bush on it.

  • John House

The last straw? The last straw happened long ago, breaking that camel’s back. Now the camel’s an unrecognizable carcass of bones and skin. The only life around it are the flies that call themselves Democrats.

  • John House

The problem is, there’s nothing democratic about the party anymore.

  • michelina

Firs rule of thumb, coming from HILLARY.COM,

PUMA and now DEMS for McCain.

Ignore the trolls, your wasting your energy,

Tell them quick, truthfully and make your point, and LET THEM GO, we have a GOAL here.

It’s not convincing them that BO is what he is,
It’s ELECTED MR. McCain, and I’m going to do it for two reasons.

I trust him, I believe him, and I actually Like him and am comfortable with him.

BO comes from a place I’m unfamiliar with, and and NOT COMFORTABLE with———-and I don’t mean INDONESIA, or is it HAWAII, or KENYA, I’ve lost track.
