And Now For The Rest Of The Story

On the alleged honor killing in Texas of two young women by their father, Yaser Said. It doesn’t get any easier, friends. Again, this is a very difficult subject matter. Please be forewarned.

The video below contains the 911 call on it from one of the daughters. It is not easy to hear. It also includes an important interview with Ayaan Hirsi Ali, a Somalian woman who fled her country after being subjugated to genital mutilation as a child, was elected to the House of Representatives in the Netherlands, and who has done a great deal of work on the subjugation of women and girls. What she has to say is powerful, indeed:

And, here is the conclusion to this disturbing show. It includes how the FBI has proceeded on the Said crime, as well as another disturbing honor killing:

Wait – there is only a $10,000 reward for information leading to the capture of a man who (allegedly) gunned down both of his daughters in cold blood? Wow. That is telling in and of itself, isn’t it?

These “rules” by which Yaser Said lives are not honorable in any way, shape, or fashion. His treatment of his daughters is misogyny, plain and simple. That goes for these other men who have killed their own daughters, sisters, wives, or girlfriends in the name of “honor killings.” Whether it is religious in nature, as Hirsi Ali claims, or cultural in nature, as Afshan Quershi claims, the outcome is the same. These women and girls still end up dead.

And it is abhorrent.

Rev. Amy–You are a brave woman, because I cannot watch or read these stories.
But thank you so much for keeping them in the forefront!

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

Thanks, Cindy – I appreciate that, and appreciate why you’d prefer not to do so,  Totally get it!

  • HARP

There is no honor in what these clowns believe in. They think it will make them look like a man but lets look at what the do when we even the odds a little.

thank you Rev Amy for doing this story.  This is the main reason We can’t let them build in New York near ground zero using Freedom of Religion.  We must be watchful of were else they build mosques.  This has nothing to do with freedom of anything.  Sharia Law is about power just like domestic violence and rape.  POWER!

President Obama gave the Ground Zero mosque a clear and powerful endorsement Friday night, saying the country’s “commitment to religious freedom must be unshakeable.”
“Let me be clear: as a citizen, and as President, I believe that Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as anyone else in this country,” the President said at a White House dinner celebrating the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

Using one’s religious beliefs as an excuse to Show One’s Ass or otherwise behave in ways inconsistent with law and human decency has a long tradition, from honor killings to abortion doctor murder, clinic bombing and Winng the West.

Why do we allow immigration of individuals of various faiths which teach and practice these behaviors?

It isn’t as if Africa or the Middle East are crowded

Let’s try NO naturalization for 20 years. IF and ONLY IF you have an advanced skill, you may have a Guest Worker visa…after jumping through hoops and signing a pledge that you will not behave like an asshole.

ARREST FOR ANY FELONY (NOT conviction) or three Misdemeanors should result in IMMEDIATE expulsion or deportation.

“WE DON’T CARE that the Terrible Kubla Kubla is going to eviscerate you at the airport when you arrive back in whatever shithole from whence you sprung. You REALLY should have thought of that when you were f***ing up in the USA.

Now, Adios, MF’er!! Don’t let the Golden Door hit you in the ass!!!”

This raggedy-assed Immigrants have been a pain since my family first came to this country!!!

I feel sick. I know murder and abuse are not only a function of Islam. It happens in all cultures.

But this is different. The idea that these types of abuses are culturally acceptable and have been around a long time does not make it right.

Many things that we now deem horrific and wrong were once acceptable in this country. But good people stood up and said “no more”.

Things like the Inquisition  and “witch burnings” were finally stopped when good people stood up and said “no more”.

When will the Islamic world stand up and say “no more”?

    When?

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

Well said, candymarl, on all counts.  No, it isn’t specific to Islam, and yes, we have done bad things, as have other religions.  But someone has to stand up, someone has to stop it, someone has to speak out for these women and girls in their culture, in their faith tradition.

    Great comment.

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

So much for staying out of a “local” issue, though how 9/11 could ever be construed as “local,” by the President no less, is mind boggling.  That’s Obama for you.

This attempt at revisionist history is disturbing.  It cannot be denied that the act of war committed on 9/11 was by Muslim extremists.  That is not a right-wing, or intolerant supposition – it is FACT.  To act as if it is not, as if people are going off half cocked, as if people who live and work in NYC should not be upset at a mosque being built so close to Ground Zero by an imam who essentially placed the blame on the US is an affront of monumental proportions.

    The answer, Candymarl is:  Never.

Our deepest condolences to the mother who lost her two lovely daughters. This is a real tragedy for her.

Every sensible person would feel the pain for her for such a loss of dear ones!

Islam is evil. Islam would do despicably anything to dominate the world, including honor killing.

Warning for women everywhere: Don’t Marry a Moslem

    Absolute true.

Whether it is religious in nature, as Hirsi Ali claims, or cultural in nature, as Afshan Quershi claims, the outcome is the same.

There is, of course a third possibility: that he is an evil, woman-hating psychopath who hides behind religion to “justify” his vile deeds. Amy, in 2007 there were 758,000 violent crimes committed against femalesover the age of 12 by family members. There were 1636 murders of women by close family members.  I do not know how many of those murders were committed by Muslims, but I *do* know that murders like this occur in every religious group, social class, and ethnic group in America.

Citing this horrendous crime as an indictment against Islam as a whole isn’t any more valid than citing these as an indictment of Christianity:

Why is it that the bastards don’t have to kill themselves too?  Why do the honorable killers flee?   Their own life is so precious to themselves.   Are they honor killings based on religious beliefs or just the fruit of an agreement between men to keep women in line?   If your wife gets out of line and you don’t beat her then my wife will think she can get out of line too – so in order be considered a man at the mosque you have to take part in the subjugation of women.    I remember when I was young there was a nasty term “pussy whipped” for men who other men felt cared too much for their wifes or girlfriends.

I we really do pull out of Afghanistan I hope we can find a way to get the women and girls out before we go.  Leave the teleban there alone to bugger each other.

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

I did not do so in my post, and as I have said, all kinds of atrocities have been committed in the name of religion.  As that was indefensible, so is this.  Hirsi Ali is adamant that this IS a part of Islam, at least a segment of it, an she ought to know.  She still has to have boyguards – in the UNITED STATES – because of her opposition to “honor killings” and Sharia Law.

So, no one is painting Islam with a broad brush, but to deny there is a sect that supports this kind of thing does nothing to stop it, and I would argue, condones it by silence.

  • kenoshamarge

There is no “honor” in a father killing his children. None. Quite the contrary. A father is supposed to protect his children with his very life if necessary. That’ s what honorable men do. That’s what honorable men of all religions have done all through history. Any culture, any religion, any “man” that believes there is ANY honor in killing your children has no place in decent society.

This “man” and I use the term only for lack of a better one, should be hunted down like the rabid animal that he is, tried for his crime(s) and if found guilty spend the rest of his miserable life in prison.

I suspect he would have to be kept in isolation because even the dregs in prison would be apt to take out a man who killed his own children.

There is no hell deep enough, hot enough, vile enough for trash like this.

Sigh! Sigh! If this man coming from Egypt had learnt from Warren Buffet instead of the retarded religion, they would be living happily as a family.

Sigh! Knowledge is power and determines happiness or sorrow!

Very important story, though extremely painful to read and watch!   What always makes me wonder is how anyone could worship a “god” who would believe doing something like this is the right thing to do.  That’s what misguided, hate filled humans do, not what a true god would do. Religions can be so twisted by the humans who practice them.  I am sure the real creator god is heart broken.

    Rev. Amy,
As an American woman, honor killings and mutilation strike a deep chord.  It is not just because there is nothing that justifies what was done.  The barbaric acts were perpetrated on them solely because they were born of the female gender.  And, though not physical,  so is sexism/misogyny in this country.  It is meant, just like honor killings/mutilation, to keep us in our place.  It is our version of the burka.  Sexism and misogyny are so prevalent and so melded into the very fabric of this country, that it is just accepted.  For me, that is why what these women in the article you posted (and other similar stories) is particularly heinous.

  • propertius

I know you didn’t, Amy, and I apologize if I gave a different impression. I should’ve phrased things somewhat differently to make that clearf. However, some of the commenters on this thread pretty obviously feel otherwise and are perfectly willing to condemn a billion people because of the actions of a few evil psychopaths who cloak their depravity in” religious”  terms.

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

Whew, thanks for that, propertius.  I am glad I didn’t give that impression.

And I hear you – yes, Islam is on track to be the largest religion in the world, so there’s that.  Unfortunately, just like with Christianity, the ones from whom we hear the most are the fringe elements.  Though in the case of Islam, that includes extremists who wish to do us harm, unfortunately.  While we cannot paint an entire religion with a broad brush, we also cannot deny that there are some, even a few, who will stop at nothing to attack us.

Perhaps it is that we don’t hear from the moderates enough.  Not that they aren’t saying anything, just that it isn’t publicized, know what I mean?

Anyway, thanks for the clarification – I appreciate it!

Just when you thought this muslim thing is getting out of hand…. check this out…. a marriage taking according to the Koran. This will make you puke your guts out…. what a shameful thing to do.  Can you think of anything like this…. marrying your little girls to men 10 times their age… WHY? WHY? and WHY are we letting them built a cultural center in NYC ground zero to do this….??????

  • memi

Aqsa Parvez of Ontario, Canada was murdered by her father and brother who strangled her because she refused to wear the hijab!

Honor Killings deserve harsher punishment–ELECTRIC CHAIR! And according to statistics, most of these “Fathers” are INCEST PERPETRATORS, as has been said for the Said girls…These monsters must be hunted down and shot!

Said Yasser monster is probably up north in Canada.  Their border is “porous” and they are far easier on the moslems there…

  • memi

Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy…THANKS for including these vids…
Please keep us posted if there’s any NEWS on this disturbing story…
I like the Portugal Cardina’s warning to women to
    “Think Twice
before marrying  a Muslim…cause only Allah know what can happen to women”…!!!!

    Great advice!!

What are Imams in America saying about this in their services?  Is there a preponderance of opinion?  Where does the Qur;an and Hadith come down on honor killings?  I urge you to look these things up for yourselves and the reach an informed decision.
