Barack Obama, A Drunken Drive By?

How can such a supposedly smart person be so goddamn dumb? Is he hitting the firewater? There is no denying that Barack did well at Harvard Law. So we know that he is not a moron or devoid of intelligence. But book smarts ain’t common sense and on that count Obama is a big zero. His latest gaffe is his decision to spend Friday night doing the Muslim thing:
President Obama will host an iftar — the special evening meal observed during Ramadan — on Friday night in the White House dining room.
Obama participated in a similar gathering last year.
Celebrations like iftar dinners “remind us of the principles that we hold in common, and Islam’s role in advancing justice, progress, tolerance and the dignity of all human beings,” Obama wrote in a statement Wednesday.
“Ramadan is a celebration of a faith known for great diversity and racial equality … a reminder that Islam has always been part of America and that American Muslims have made extraordinary contributions to our country.”
Extraordinary contributions of Muslims to America?
You have got to be shitting me! I understand the need for some political correctness. But let’s not make up facts and pander like an aging whore waiting on the dock beside a ship full of horny sailors. Muslims were irrelevant to America until the tragic attacks of 9-11. Islam is not mainstream America. It is, at best, a sidelight. Please, cite me just one example of “great Muslim” moments in American history. Fire away kids.
It would be one thing if Obama was consistent in upholding religious principles. But even on that point he’s been inconsistent. Last year and this year he has declined to hold an interfaith service in the White House observing a National Day of Prayer:
In 2009, President Obama decided not to host an ecumenical service in the White House in observance of the National Day of Prayer as his predecessor, George W. Bush, had. However, he did not, as claimed in 2009 (and again in 2010) “cancel” the National Day of Prayer; instead, rather than holding a White House service, President Obama continued the tradition of issuing a presidential proclamation designating the National Day of Prayer and opted to observe the occasion privately.
If your point is that you don’t want to publicly acknowledge religion, fine. But then be consistent. Barack is far from consistent.
Barack has more problems than feeding the rumors that he’s a closet Muslim. He’s also a vacation monster and clueless to boot (according to the Swamp from the Chicago Tribune):
Last month the White House announced that the first family would visit the Gulf of Mexico for a vacation. It’s a trip, as Christi Parsons reported at the time, intended in part to “help ward off criticism that, while the president encourages others to go to the Gulf, he will spend his vacation among the elite set on the island of Martha’s Vineyard.”
The White House has just sent new details of that trip, revealing that the Obama family will have spent barely more than one day in the area when all is said and done. . . .
From scheduled arrival of Air Force One Saturday to the time it departs on Sunday, the Obamas will have spent 26 hours and 50 minutes on the ground in the Panama City area.
TWENTY SIX HOURS IS NOT A VACATION. IT IS A DRIVE BY. Barack and his team of morons just do not understand. Talking up the Gulf as a vacation spot and then making a superficial visit and gesture before you head off to the elite environs of Martha’s Vineyard is totally, completely clueless. It feeds the image of Barack and Michelle as arrogant, noveau riche, elitists. Not exactly the kind of meme one needs when the nation’s economy is tanking, unemployment is hovering around 10% and the nation remains at war.
Barack and Michelle cannot blame the Republicans for this one. This is a self-inflicted wound.
