Sorry, Charlie

Rangel – you are a freakin’ IDIOT. How dare you refer to the Republican Vice Presidential Candidate as “disabled”?? Are you NUTS??? You are the Chair of the incredibly powerful House Ways and Means Committee, and you are making these kinds of statements? What, are you in Junior High School or something?? Not like you don’t have enough trouble right now what with all of the tax scandals currently pressing on you, but you thought saying something like this, AND REPEATING IT, was going to help? Holy freakin’ cow. If you feel compelled to watch Charlie Rangel make a fool of himself, click HERE, or watch this YouTube:

You know, I was so happy when you endorsed and supported Senator Clinton. I thought you were a pretty decent guy, and seemed to make some good decisions. But I started to get an idea of how you really operate from the report of tax scandals, for starters, but then the way you could not WAIT to throw Hillary Clinton under the bus for Obama. That said a whole helluva lot to me about you and your character, none of it good. To recap, Rep. Rangel, you were a bit snarky. And now this – what the hell is the matter with you?

I swear, it is like respected members of the Democratic Party are taking on the thuggish, ill-mannered behavior of many of Obama’s minions. I expect better from them than this. A lot better.

Along those lines, to be bi-partisan, what the hell is wrong with CHUCK HAGEL? He, too, made some stupid, ill-informed comment about Gov. Palin, the VP candidate for his own PARTY. Yes. First he said he doubted she had the experience to be vice president, especially in terms of foreign policy. Well, okey dokey – way to be a team player, there Chuck! Oh, don’t think that’s all – he also made fun of her claiming she said she could see Russia from her house. Really, Chuck? Did you not SEE the whole interview?

I have to say, it kinda makes me wonder about Chuck considering his relationship to Obama and the voting machines-formerly-known-as-Diebold. You know, that he is saying this kind of crap about his party’s VP candidate. Just coincidence? Maybe, but it makes me a tad suspicious. And I noticed that Chuck hasn’t made any kind of similar statements about OBAMA’S lack of experience in foreign policy! Does he think that being on that little junket with Obama this summer is sufficient “foreign policy” experience??? But Palin’s going to Kuwait and Germany, plus having to be on constant alert because of the proximity of Russia doesn’t count for ANYTHING? Some double standard that.

And while we are talking about experience, I would like to bring the national down to the local. As some of you may know, Charleston had a horrible fire not too long ago, in which a number of fire-fighters were killed. It was the largest number since 9/11 of firefighters killed in one situation. As it turned out, there were things that could have been handled better. To make a long story short, the fire chief stepped down, and they have narrowed down their list of candidates. Wanna know what the main thing was on which they focused on the news last night and in the paper today? Experience. They list the name, the location in which the person is currently serving, and the length of time they have been in fire service. The LOWEST number of years is 30 – that’s THIRTY years. To be a fire chief. In a medium sized city. I am the first to say, I WANT my fire chief to be experienced – hell to the YES, I do. Lives depend on that level of experience. And I am sure you see where I am going with this. I want my PRESIDENT to be experienced, too. I want him/her to have experience delegating, fixing, maintaining, reforming, creating whatever needs to be delegated, fixed, maintained, reformed, and created. Being smart doesn’t hurt. Yes, Senator CLINTON fits the bill – and had the DNC not acted so immorally and unethically, she would be the hands down winner. But they did, and she isn’t. I will never forgive them for destroying the Party of the People the way that they have.

But, what real-life executive experience does Obama bring to the table? None. Well, unless you count trying to strong arm state senators to do his bidding in IL, against the wishes of their own constituents, as indicated here(H/T to alert reader at NQ – Freedom Eagle? Sorry -can’t remember for sure):

And the story doesn’t end with Obama’s support for set-asides. A Chicago Defender story of 1999 features a front-page picture of Obama beside the headline, “Obama: Illinois Black Caucus is broken.” In the accompanying article, although Obama denies demanding that black legislators march in perfect lockstep, he expresses anger that black state senators have failed to unite for the purpose of placing a newly approved riverboat casino in a minority neighborhood. The failed casino vote, Obama argues, means that the black caucus “is broken and needs to unite for the common good of the African-American community.” Obama continues, “The problem right now is that we don’t have a unified agenda that’s enforced back in the community and is clearly articulated. Everybody tends to be lone agents in these situations.”

Speaking in reply to Obama was Mary E. Flowers, an African-American state senator who apparently broke black caucus discipline and voted to approve the casino’s location in a nonminority area. Said Flowers: “The Black Caucus is from different tribes, different walks of life. I don’t expect all of the whites to vote alike.  .  .  .  Why is it that all of us should walk alike, talk alike and vote alike?  .  .  .  I was chosen by my constituents to represent them, and that is what I try to do.” Given Obama’s supposedly post-racial politics, it is notable that he should be the one demanding enforcement of a black political agenda against “lone agents,” while another black legislator appeals to Obama to leave her free to represent her constituents, black or white, as she sees fit.

Oh, what the hell – here’s a bonus quote:

When the 2000 census revealed dramatic growth in Chicago’s Hispanic and Asian populations alongside a decline in the number of African Americans, the Illinois black caucus was alarmed at the prospect that the number of blacks in the Illinois General Assembly might decline. At that point, Obama stepped to the forefront of the effort to preserve as many black seats as possible. The Defender quotes Obama as saying that, “while everyone agrees that the Hispanic population has grown, they cannot expand by taking African-American seats.” As in the casino dispute, Obama stressed black unity, pushing a plan that would modestly increase the white, Hispanic, and Asian population in what would continue to be the same number of safe black districts. As Obama put it: “An incumbent African-American legislator with a 90 percent district may feel good about his reelection chances, but we as a community would probably be better off if we had two African-American legislators with 60 percent each.”

Someone want to tell me again how Obama sitting in the pew at TUCC for over 20 years was NOT affecting his politics??

But I digress – experience. Obama is sorely lacking in it, and it would behoove both Charlie and Chuck to keep their yaps shut lest the glaring jackass in the room is actually discussed by, oh, I don’t know, the MEDIA?!?!?! Just a thought. In any event, you “gentlemen” do not reflect well on your respective parties, or on your chosen (apparently, for Chuck, definitely for Charlie) candidate. Try a bit of decorum, would you? It couldn’t hurt, and elevating the gutter politics in which Obama and his minions have engaged would be a blessed relief. Just sayin’.

Obama said in Miami yesterday that his mother finished her PhD. after 20 years. I think that what he meant was that his mother finished writing her dissertation. What is it?

That makes no sense…most university’s give you 10 years to finish your dissertation. After that your credits expire…

That is three for Rangel = more than 1 rent controlled apt, not paying proper taxes and recently there was also one about his not paying for his $290 a month parking spot.

OMG….Rev Manning is a hoot! I’m surprised Obama doesn’t come after him. Probably just hoping he will go away.

      • mimi

        There’s a reason 0bama doesn’t go after Manning.

        Manning is a card-carrying nutjob.

And I’m as diehard a Hillary supporter as they come and am voting for McCain.

Manning is a self-hating black man who’s found his audience in white Obama-haters. He’s been trying to get attention for the last few years and has pulled numerous stunts here in Harlem that haven’t worked.

He’s in psychotic heaven now that he has a national online audience. He’s getting away with saying things that whites can’t because being black no one can call him a racist.

If you really want to discredit yourself, keep paying attention to this man and praising him. If you want to defeat 0bama, trust me, you don’t need Manning.

Yes, because he has the courage to state the truth. Soetoro-Obama won’t answer or suit! Than he will have to answer and produce evidence. It is not the moderate democrats that are pissed Hillary did not get the nomination that are keeping McCain/Palin afloat in this election.

It is the republican consevative base.

You guys are important. You guys are a very important piece of the puzzle to victory, and I appreciate your support for McCain, but the base wants WAR.

And if McCain is not willing to go to war with Obama, then we will find somebody who will. (Sarah Palin and Bobby Jindal)

The swiftboat stuff that doomed Kerry is like a fircracker compared to the dynamite we got on Obama.

Dumbass Palin is more qualified than obama, just because you have devolved into your parties bigotted origins does not make palin unqualified. the only reason people don’t know she is is because of a little help from obama’s friend Charlie Gibson. so don’t be smug, you aint winning cause your candiate is the best, you are winning because he’s being allowed to run from who he really is. and as and obama supporter, i think you really should do research on your own candidate so you can figure out how badly you are really screwing yourself. But that would take common sense, something god did not endow you with. AA’s and generation Y did your parents have you are in for a very rude awaking one you figure out who you let get into office.

    • OBushMA!

No, the base does not want war. Not anymore. They want money and power, like any other interest groups in this country. And the mismanaged war is more embarrassment than anything to them now. They still don’t want to withdraw from Iraq, but withdrawal will be more palatable to them under McCain than BO. Palin doesn’t want war, nor would she have the mandate as a caretaker President, should that happen, to make drastic moves without consulting Congress, not to mention worrying about ill-effect on her reelection prospect.

  • JM08

When Obama ran that ad saying literally – McCain hates mexicans and thinks they are stupid, and they showed quotes from limbaugh and associated them with mccain.

It was POLITICAL MALPRACTICE, not to respond with a ad saying – Obama hates america, and then show clips from ayers and rev. wright and associate them with obama.

That was POLITICAL MALPRACTICE by passing up that perfect oppurtunity.

And why did they pass it up ??? because mccain didnt want to hurt obamas feelings.

The base is not going to put up with this bullshit. McCain has till the first debate to rediscover his fighting spirit or the republican party will throw mccain under the bus in a hearbeat. The groundwork is already being laid for that possibility.

    • BJinChicago

I must be president because I am black; if you say otherwise then you aren’t part of the change this country needs

He positioned the change meme with racism, and with that mix comes animosity he has created against anyone who doesn’t want to vote for him. It’s a new spin on racism, seen as not being a progressive thinker, instead of recognizing, people just don’t vote for you because their kid told them to, and it’s the popular, “hot” thing to do.

Gallup poll data doesn’t add up. I took a look at all the categories the breakdowns Obama is leading only by AA race and a % of the Hispanic, McCain is winning in every other category. Gallup is known for Fix polls all other polls

Pew Research survey Barack Obama leading Sen. John McCain among registered voters, 46% to 44%.
    Obama +2

The Sat. edition of the Diageo/Hotline nat’l tracking poll shows Barack Obama and Joe Biden maintaining their 45-44% lead over John McCain and Sarah Palin.

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Saturday shows Barack Obama with 48% of the vote and John McCain with 47%.

    • L

If you look at the internals of the polls they
almost always interview 3-5% more democrats than
republicans thereby slanting the poll #’s. If
you recall, the polls were almost never correct
in the primaries. I don’t think we can count on
      them to be correct now.

      • tzada

I remember 1 poll where they polled more blacks than white. Didn’t get their line of thinking, why not poll 50/50 or just throw a dart and pick a name to call. Anyhow the result of that poll was, they got the answer they wanted. Oh I remember it was after Wrights sermon hit the air, and Obama did his so called “historic speech.”

      • http://www.despair.com/changewinds.html Smilin’ Jim

If you look at the internals without an axe to grind you will find that they estimate the republican/democrat, man/woman, genX/baby-boomer percentages weekly in order to produce a weighted poll that reflects the population as a whole.

        • bemused

Exactly, and weighting is more an art than science. Another poster also saw things not adding up in this article, which I am shamelessly promoting because this point is so seldom addressed:

          • http://www.despair.com/changewinds.html Smilin’ Jim

“Exactly, and weighting is more an art than science”

Art is poetry and prose. It was the poet in John Zogby who predicted that Kerry would take the election 311 to 213 over Bush.

The Kerry Presidency has thus far been the most significant unreported event of this century.

    • yttik

Polls go up and down. It’s also important to look at likely voters versus registered voters. Simply being registered doesn’t mean you’re one of those people who are going to go out and vote. Likely voters is much more realistic. Obama polls strong with registered voters, but not so well with likely voters.

I’ve also suspected all along that he’s over polling. Some people complain about the Bradley effect, but I think it’s really just a simple matter of people feeling bullied and pressured into supporting him. It’s not easy saying you don’t support Obama. Sheesh, I sure don’t have to point that out to anybody here, look at the trolls that try and jump on you if you don’t approve of their candidate.

      • tish

obama had to fix the polls no one wants to give him any money,,,he is a loser,,so he is fixing the polls ,,,he is still a loser..

      • tzada

Yes especially if the pollster has a voice that sounds AA. That is who called me. But I told her what I thought of Obama and why. She told me that she had heard a lot of people say the same thing.

But I can see where some people would go with caution. The pollster has your name and phone number and probably address. People of all color have been threatened. I may have lied if the voice on the other end had not sounded so kind. I was honest with her and she was honest with me.

          The ‘Bradley Bump’

Well, we remember what Chris Matthews said after New Hampshire, that the white women were racist. Why would the women in NH be racist and not the men? Why did John Edwards bomb, if it was all about race?

Obama is trying to manipulate the polls with the ‘Bradley Effect’ so his cult supporters won’t all keel over from anxiety attacks.

I know from experience that reflection is the better part of wisdom and the core of knowledge.

Mr. Rangel is the ignorant and less educated individual.

If you can see Russia every day from your house, you would spend a part of your day reflecting on them. It isn’t as if you could put them away for a while and forget they exist. The fact that Russia is close to Alaska makes Mrs. Palin the most engaged politician that is running when speaking about foreign policy towards the Russians. From her window she see them when they come out and she see them when they come in. Albeit she does not violate their privacy.

Funny how Hillary’s ass got into the conversation. How large is Rangel’s ass?

The only folks I know know that were commenting on Hillary’s ass or legs, or etc. were Obama supporters.

I understand that there was talk of going after Rangel because he didn’t jump on Obama’s side soon enough (See John Lewis of GA as well).

Rangel didn’t publicly diss Palin until his tax ‘problems’ surfaced. Interesting.

      • mimi

        So true.

All of a sudden he’s on the offensive. But you know what? New York State’s governor is disabled. He’s legally blind. And the governor and his father are great friends with Rangel.

A reporter should ask him if he feels that way about his friend’s son. That should make him feel like a POS. Too bad Marcia Kramer is such an awful reporter. She should have asked him about Gov. Paterson on the spot. I wonder how Gov Paterson feels about that comment anyway?

These pollsters are being paid to manipulate the numbers. You have to take a look at their data, which many wont provide. Gallup doesn’t say how many Dems. they will light him up. They just had an advisor say that becuase of all the guilt by association ads adn the limbaugh ad that they are done playing nice.
    It is all over today.
    They will get him.
JM i am not sure your concern in ohio mac has had a pretty steady lead there except for an occasional poll saying otherwise.

They will hit him when the time is right. You spoke on the other post about Bush hitting Kerry hard in the las month, exactly. It is not October yet.
You have very little faith. McCain will be victorious.

Another thing everyone is ignoring is that all of these polls have double digit undecideds.
The GOP always surges in the last month because the undecideds break for republicans.
also, have you seen the born-alive abortion ad?
It is running in NM. It is tough. The women survived an abortion and was born and she says if obama had his way i would not be alive. That is rough.
Very true as well. They wanted obama to fire the first shot. Now they have reason to hit him.

If the guys you know in ohio really think things are so depserate why not get on a phone and make some calls? pound the pavement and knock on doors? lick envelopes?
Also there are groups out there now running ayers ads. The NRA is spending 40 million in a campaign to defeat obama.

I will make you a bet.the week after the first debate you will see the bombs drop. Also, the fact that they have not been more agressive tells me they have good internal polling. Which i believe they do.
There are states like michigan that have collapsed under democrat rule and will be a tough sell for obama. PA is a state i truly believe mccain will win.
I live right in the middle of pa in clearfield county. There is a place called punxsatawny and a grand wizard of the KKK lives there. that is a sense of what the T area of PA that republicans always win is like.
I know there will be alot of dems who will not vote for obama. Race is a factor. Not so big it insurmountabele. But it is there. 3% and bush would have taken PA. We have alot of seniors here and alot of traditional poeple.
WE like our guns our bibles and some their bigotry.
It really is alabame in the middle.

I think Palin’s son went to high school in Michigan (somewhere where he could play soccer) – if I’m wrong, I apologize. Also, Mitt Romney lived in Michigan (and won Michigan in the primary), so hopefully he campaigns hard for McCain in that state. I think Romney’s dad was some kind of politician for Michigan while they lived there, also.

The fact that he is also related to Cheney underscores that this is an exclusive club where commoners like Clinton or Palin need not apply.

It doesn’t matter that he is tongue tied without a teleprompter or can’t make decision on anything. others paid good money to make decisions for him.

While i’ll still go through the travesti of voting, I ceased to believe in it.

Should have gotten the message December 15, 2000.

Includes something I’ve been talking about for a long time – Chuck Hagel and ES&S – the voting machine company that, when owned by Hagel, helped him “miraculously” come from behind in several elections.

I just think the more we get this meme out there in the public eye/consciousness the less the chance the powers will be able to pull it off. Whaddya all think?

won’t matter. if it mattered, there would have been blood in the streets in florida 2000. people in general are just not too evolved from sheep. or was it lemmings? hmmm…

    • tzada

Yes I agree. Senator McCain has set up a task force to help fight this. Everyone of us should go to our Supervisor of Elections on Monday and say we want to help. I am going to see about checking voter registrations against signatures. Some of us can watch the polls. We need to find out if we can have law enforcement in areas where people may be bullied or hurt if they vote other than Obama. We need to know what our rights are. Ask how they guard against the electronic machine fraud.

Contact this link and ask what you can do. Find out how they plan on protecting our vote.

Federal Agency (EAC) failed to warn swing states about voting machine defects

Silence is not golden when it a federal agency knows but says nothing about voting machine failures. The GAO reports that at least ten swing states will be using voting machines and electronic poll books with known defects in their systems. The ten states known to be affected are Colorado, Missouri, New Mexico, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Virginia and Wisconsin. These defects could skew the vote or disenfranchise voters. The defects silence on the part of the EAC is disturbing. The Elections Assistance Commission knew but said nothing.

State Election Officials Not Told Of Voting Machine Failures

        Friday, Sep 19, 2008

A Government Accountability Office report on voting system testing shows many of the problems that plagued the last election still exist. And Missouri is one of the states with remaining problems.

CNN reports a study by Common Cause and the Century Foundation indicates that ten vital swing states have significant voting glitches that have not been addressed.

It also shows that the Election Assistance Commission has failed to inform election officials around the country about electronic voting machine shortcomings….

I’ve always thought this. There can be no other explanation for 0bama’s arrognat and nasty attitude.

The things that he said to Hillary’s big donors, and fellow politicians. People running for office don’t act this way.

lark i agree with your take on Palin and russia.
I moved to El Paso texas for a few months to work and i could see the statue of mary off of my back porch upon the hill.
Mexico was literally 3 minutes away and visible.
    You reflect alot on that.
I would think all the time how terrible it was that a 3rd world country could look out their windows and see our nation. A 1st rate superpower. Just like i could look off my porch and see buildings and roads over there that looked like a warzone.
i was next to the city of Jaurez,Mexico.

also, foriegn affairs matter alot more on the character of the person than the knowledge of the person.
You can be a foriegn encyclopedia but if your a weak feable person like obama. A foreign leader could easily manipulaate him.
    Palin is a warrior.
She spoke of truman in her RNC speech and i think it was one of the most powerful moments of the speech.
I wish she would recite the line more.
Truman was a 3 year US senator before he became VP and went on to be one of the Toughest SOB’s we ever had as president. She has been an elected official for 5 years more than obama has. She is also in one of the most strategically important states of our union.

Also, she is being interviewed with Katie Couric next week! I hope she is not as snobby as Gibson.

Obviously the documents makes clear that Monegan was acting rogue knowing full well that Mrs. Palin’s Administration was following a conservative approach and was dead set against lobbying Washington legislators. So the matter is clearly a personnel issue and not a personal vendetta issue. It was the straw that broke the camel’s back.

Thanks for helping to clear the issue out.

The 4 real battleground states are Florida, Ohio, Nevada, Colorado.

Win those 4 and Obama loses.

    • HC

Did VA fall of the battleground list?

    • Paul3triple

JM that is my point. At current Mac is aheand in all of those in the RCP average. Except Colorado but colorado is very close and some polls post convention have shown mac ahead.
BUT, if McCain can bag PA or MI then colorado is irrelevant along with Nevada.
      Nevada will go mccain.
Michigan is a state i really think mccain can win. Democrats have ruined the economy there. Their state has been in a recession for years. If McCain wins PA and Michigan. Ohio and Florida this election is a blowout.
I cannot stress enough to JM that these polls have overstated obama’s support consistently. He is also depending on the 2 least dependable voting blocks. aa’s and younger kids.
I bet he will do very well with blacks but they are heavily concentrated in states that either are no contest for mccain like new york or states like Alabama and Goergia where obama will not win.
So that leaves the kids as his last bastion of hope. I am 23 and i despise obama. I also think alot of what atracted the folks my age was his post racial post partisan new politics message. That is gone now. I think alot of excitement is gone.
The GOP closed the enthusiasm gap. I think obama will sink.
I also think to this week McCain will make sharo contrasts and run very harsh ads.
They will want obama off-balance in the debate. If they make him stumble in a foriegn policy debate it could end his bid. If he is made to look novice Obama will lose. ALOT of poeple are uncomfortable with him and if it grows more he is finished.

I live in Colorado and received an email from McCain’s camp asking me to request for a mail-in ballot. Is there a down side to that? After I mail it in, who do I check with to make sure my vote went through and toward the candidate I voted for?

        • Zeke

          Vinnie,
The mail-in vote will insure that a Diebold voting machine won’t “misread” and correct your vote. In my state, since there was a “groundswell” of over 800 dead voters electing our Obama sucking governor last time, we go with absentee or mail-in to insure that the vote gets registered.
We have people watching like hawks on those counts…
          Regards

        • mimi

Why would the McCain request that? I ‘d call to check with them to make sure they sent such an email out.

          • Eden

    HC-

Virginia is a safe republican state. It gave Obama a little tease, but in the end it will go republican.

Much like how New jersey always teases the republican candidate with some close polls, but in the end is solid democratic.

There are other states McCain could still win that would add to his final margin like Pa, Wi, Mn …

But if McCain can keep the 4 I mentioned then there is no way for Obama to get to 270.

    • wodiej

Indiana supposedly is close too. However I have lived here all my life and we haven’t went Democrat for President since 1964 and it won’t be this year either. Polls are not accurate.

With the way the polls have been running, VA has been touting itself as a “new battleground”.

I hope you are right and the polls are BS.

There have been massive influxes of MD/DC people into the close-in VA suburbs. Kool aid is definately being served in Arlington bars.

I am still doing my bit in VA, just in case its closer than I would like – ACORN and others are going overtime registering whatever they stumble across to vote Obama.

    • Clara Barton

I’m not convinced of this – and I live in VA. Obama has 43 offices across the state, canvassing like hell to get their GOTV game in order. Large and growing concentration of Dems in Northern VA that can offset the rest of the state. It’s going to be close. But glad to hear the optimisim that it’s safely red!

I think McCain is not going after Obama too hard because he doesn’t want to rock a boat that has a strong wind going into port. Mac too nice!?! As we’ve seen throughout this election season, when a person decides to politically get in bed with Obama, they become pure, unadulterated scumbags.
It’s just as the comments I have been leaving on blogs since last October say, “the only ‘change’ I have ever seen Obama accomplish is to turn people for the worse”.
We worked so hard to have a decent and strong Liberal voice through these blogs, and they all went insane with Obamaitis and threw all their credibility away, so now there are very few decent Liberal blogs left.

“We’re heard a lot of words from Sen. Obama over the course of this campaign, but maybe, just this once, he could spare us the lectures and admit to his own poor judgment in contributing to these problems,” McCain said. “The crisis on Wall Street started in the Washington culture of lobbying and influence peddling, and he was right square in the middle of it.”

Everyone who knows, or knows someone who lives in PA, should remind them of the elitist comment Obummer said in ‘Frisco concerning the ‘small town people and their bitterness, their religion and their guns’. Keep on reminding them! Obummer WANTS EVERYONE’S VOTES (yet he talks about us behind our backs) – big city, small town, rich, poor, black, white, hispanic, asian, dead or alive; he doesnt’ care – he just wants the VOTES, yet he doesn’t CARE about YOU.

I don’t know why everyone laughs when Sarah says she can see Russia from Alaska. Where do you think an attack would come from if someone wanted to hit the US.

Alaska is the home of the 49th Missile Division. Eleven ground-based interceptor missiles buried in underground silos in Alaska at Ft. Greeley represent a key part of a multi-layered defense system designed to protect the United States from a ballistic missile attack. These interceptors would destroy incoming missiles at the “midcourse phase,” outside the earth’s atmosphere.

In the event of an attack, members of the Alaska Army National Guard’s 49th Missile Defense Battalion would use sophisticated surveillance and radar systems to track the missile through its initial boost phase. If the missile reached the midcourse phase, the Alaska Guardsmen would await the order to engage it.

On order, they would fire an interceptor at the incoming missile. The force of the collision –the equivalent of two refrigerators slamming into each other at 15,000 mph — would destroy the target before it reentered the atmosphere.

The National Guard is perfectly suited to perform such an important mission. The National Guard has traditionally done homeland defense, and this is the epitomy of homeland defense.

Here at what is called the “strategic sweet spot” for missile defense, almost 200 Alaska Guardsmen who came from around the country to serve in the 49th Missile Defense Battalion take that calling pretty seriously. The unit is a cross-section of America, at one time representing 46 states and territories, and all its members applied for three-year, Active Guard and Reserve assignments with the program.

Guardsmen just wrapped up exercise Vigilant Shield, with scenarios that called on them to respond. Training exercises are successful because you’re up all the time, running missions, but at the same time, they’re reassuring. The bottom line is that you can never be too prepared. That message got reinforced this summer when North Korea announced plans to launch an intercontinental ballistic missile.

        • V

Yes, reinforcing my point that Sarah Palin’s ability to see the Russian mainland is not equivalent to knowing anything about it, nothing you have cited about Jupiter is the result of observation. As you point out, what you know is the result of reading about it in books.

I envy you your telescope, nevertheless, and applaud your interest in astronomy. In Los Angeles, we can’t see shit; on a clear night, Jupiter is one of maybe two or three objects visible to the naked eye.

          • Ferd McBerfle

nothing you have cited about Jupiter is the result of observation.

Oh, so the Shoemaker-Levy plumes were inferred through card reading?

Nice try, bot. Everything you said in your post applies to Oblockhead in spades, as well.

            • V

              Ferd:

Zeke, in displaying his knowledge, said that Jupiter is the fifth planet from the sun.

He did not learn this from looking at Jupiter.

He also said that it is the largest planet in our solar system.

He did not learn this from looking at Jupiter.

He also said that it is two and a half times as massive as all of the other planets in our Solar System combined.

I think it goes without saying that he did not learn this from looking at Jupiter.

Goes without saying, Ferd: I bet people say that to you a lot.

              • Ferd McBerfle

Your knowledge of science could be placed on the back of a matchbook, leaving plenty of room to list Oblockhead’s accomplishments.

I do not have to observe the direct interaction of the elements hydrogen and oxygen to understand what is happening when the two are combined to make the molecule, water. If I did, my field of chemistry would still be discussing the theory of phlogiston. Phlogiston, though, does describe your argument nicely–non-existent

For crying out loud…that was just a line in a SNL skit.

What she really said was that there was land (islands) in Alaska that you could see Russia from.

She never made it the base of her foreign policy experience.

          • Zeke

I was going to make a childish joke about the only planet you’d be able to see with your head where it is would be Uranus, but that would be too easy…So just pretend I didn’t say it, or What I Really Meant was something completely opposite of that. Who could forget my speech to the empty urinals at the airport in 2002 when I spoke at great length on the subject.
My “Uncle Frank” was there but when he was done with his part, I just put him back and zipped up.

            • V

Zeke says, or doesn’t say, or pretends to not say, it’s a frickin’ mystery to me: I was going to make a childish joke about the only planet you’d be able to see with your head where it is would be Uranus, but that would be too easy…

Which is why you said it, Zeke. It’s not only easy, it’s all you got.

V — Palin said she could see Russia from an Alaska Island. But ABC in their infinite wisdom decided to edit the island part out – I would guess the editor wanted to make her look stupid. However, Palin has dealt with Russian on Energy policies which makes her far more skilled than Obama.

I cannot, Ferd, as you must know by now, because it doesn’t exist.

Sarah Palin surely had many accomplishments as Governor of Alaska, but negotiating energy policy with Russia was not among them.

Where mcpalin hill got this idea, I haven’t a clue, but it’s simply nonsense.

              As you know.

  • hilldemgoneindie

    hey, completely off topic, but…

i’m so excited annoyed right now – jeralyn at tl just suspended me because i “attacked” obama too many times by simply admitting i was planning on voting for mccain/palin (by the way, i stayed on topic every time) and in a very non-combative, conversational way. not only can you not even mention why you’re not voting for him without it being an attack, but apparently i went over my 4 “anti” barrack limit at like 4 in the morning (i couldn’t sleep).

i’m normally a lurker in complete awe at the pro-obama attitude over there, but finally had to respond to someone saying all women who were voting for hillary and no voting for palin are STUPID. how can i stay silent? huh. no warnings about being over limit or anything. wow. what a thin skinned hack jeralyn turned out to be. for months she told us how terrible obama was, THEN said biden was a deal-breaker. but then she went to denver and hobnobbed with the dem elites. NOW she’s an obama whore advocate and suddenly biden’s ok. yeah, i said it. she and taylor marsh must have the same pimp banker. ugh, i’m sorry… i shouldn’t say those things – i just don’t know how one can explain what happened to those two, esp. jeralyn. i guess money talks for some people. anyway, THANK the GODDESS for no quarter. it keeps me sane. thank larry and susan and all the cool posters here. i mostly lurk here, too, but what a breath of fresh air.

    peace.

ain’t that the truth? i always thought she was a little bit like the soup nazi on her site, but hey, it’s her site, y’know? it still had some of the best comments PRE the coronation. then i think one of her cool “friends” in denver slipped her a koolaid mickey. she came back crazy. anyway, that’s why i was kinda excited and annoyed at the same time coz that site has gone to shit since denver.

but everyone’s gone crazy i think. rangel? what’s up with that? of course, many of my friends are saying the same thing about me since i decided to vote for the “enemy.” oh well. shit happens.

Good for you – you’re using your BRAINS. Tell your friends that you don’t follow the masses, that you follow the beat of your OWN drum, not someone else’s. There is a margin of error of +/- 3/4 percent built in to most (reputable) polls. The margin also depends on the weight (amount of people polled) in each group.

A double digit lead is a landslide. +6 with margin of error is not a landslide.

    • Shiloh

That is one poll among many. None of the others are that wide. It is an outlier. As for an October surprise, it isn’t October yet is it? :)

Since Obummer seems to recover quickly from each and every scandal/ blow that hits him, McCain has to be careful and time his Mac Attacks closer to November – giving Obummer less time to recuperate and recover from his downfall(s).

yes i am in PA and i am going to work my ace off for Mccain and so is my wife. My 2 and 4 year old daughters are also ready to come with in knocking on doors.
Central PA is a Place that Palin will relate well with poeple.
We have millions of hunters in our state. I live in the area that has the most deer shot every year.
Obama will do poorly with old poeple here. older dems voting for clinton will go mccain.
There is an issue of trust and obama is just not doing it.
Character is THEE most important aspect of a president.
That is why obama desperatly does not want the focus there. He is seriously lacking in that department.
Also, issues mean nothing if the guy driving them is a weak coward.

    • mcpalin hill

Paul — what does it look like in PA for McCain?

    • Brendy

Yes, by all means take your adorable daughters with you. Who can resist sweet, innocent, cute babies/children! THEY are who we are working for – to make sure our country will be as good a place to live for them as it was left for us!

  • Paul3triple

need proof, i am not worried because gallup is the only poll showing that. The rest are tied.
Rasmussen which is the best(IMO) has had them tied for the last 3 days.
Also, it is just a poll. 2700 poeple do not reflect the 80-100 million that will vote.
Polls are polls. It is odd to me that the rest are tied and have been all week while gallup has him up and notice the media ONLY speaks of the gallup poll.
No mention all week about rasmussen. Percpetion.
Mccain is in a good position. I keep saying he rode the polls in the lead for over 2 weeks with massive excitement. In one poll this week obama slowly crawled back.
The republican party is off the charts excited.
McCain is ahead in the map. Which is all that counts.
National numbers do not mean dick. You can win the popular vote and still lose. It is the state by state that is important. McCain is in a way better spot than obama.

    • http://JohnMcCain.com Chockablock “Hillawee can you change my diapy pwease” Opampers

Correct. Bush won in 2000 this way.

    • iVet

Look at the demographics behind the Gallup poll and you will see that McCain is gaining in key demographics and Obama is steady. This is bad for Obama because he is behind in independents and has much less party crossover versus McCain. The only reason the aggregate is up is because they are polling a higher percentage of dems to keep him up in the poll. This will continue to bounce around as they adjust the numbers to keep up interest and ratings for TV. Look at this page for instance and see if you spot any trends:

      http://www.gallup.com/poll/109042/Candidate-Support-Political-Party.aspx

      and this one:

      http://www.gallup.com/poll/108049/Candidate-Support-Political-Party-Ideology.aspx

Then look at the composite again and see if it computes?

The indicators behind the polling is why you are seeing a raised panic level in the Obama campaign, despite the aggregate number most people look at on Gallup.

Anyone seen if the finance filings came out yet?

    • mimi

An Obama-Biden ad says McCain supports “cutting benefits in half” for Social Security recipients. False!
    Summary
A new Obama ad characterizes the “Bush-McCain privatization plan” as “cutting Social Security Benefits in half.” This is a falsehood sure to frighten seniors who rely on their Social Security checks. In truth, McCain does not propose to cut those checks at all.

The ad refers to a Bush proposal from 2005 to hold down the growth of benefits for future retirees. Compared to the buying power of benefits paid to today’s retirees, that would not have been a “cut” for anybody. It would have been a “cut” of half only in relation to benefits now promised to retirees who have yet to be born. And for average workers, that “cut” in 2075 was projected by one of Obama’s own economic advisers to be 28 percent, not “half.”

The ad also says McCain voted “in favor of privatizing Social Security.” The term “privatizing” could give the wrong impression. McCain does support creating government-managed accounts that would allow individuals to invest some portion of their Social Security payroll taxes in widely diversified stock or bond funds.

    • HARP
      • mcpalin hill

HARP — Interesting article. McCain himself said Social Security is going broke but he wants a bi-partisan commission such as the one Reagan convened when he was president. There are plenty of solutions which will not hurt seniors. One being raising the caps and another raising the Age when you will receive Social Security. McCain promised that he would never privatize Social Security.

    • mcpalin hill

HARP — McCain said he will never privatize Social Security. Obama has nothing left but scare tactics. McCain said he will never do anything to hurt seniors.

    • BettsAZ

McCain has said repeatedly that he is in favor of a CHOICE for social security…you can choose to collect per the status quo, or invest some of your social security tax money in private investment(currently not such an attractive alternative). The point is that McCain supports a choice…it’s your money, you decide.

  • fred

Paul3triple you are right national number means nothing. FL. OH. PA and MI will decided this race McCain will win FL and OH if they stop all the illegal registration taking place in OH. and he’s in a very good position to win PA and MI

Sounds good. The McCain team can have their cake and eat it too. McCain is progressive policywise on it and Palin satisfies the ideologues on the right with her personal cherished held beliefs on the matter. ;)

        • Zeke

          Read this: http://www.wired.com/medtech/stemcells/news/2007/11/skin_cell
Since it appears that stem cell research has this option available soon, the issue become moot. Palin’s position regarding stem cell research is in line with her position on abortion. Current stem cell material is mainly derived from aborted fetus tissue. Perhaps she views the potential for “fetus farming” if that were the case.
I get nervous any time the Government acquires the right to “Terminate” anyone or any thing.
The Netherlands, one of Europe’s early pro state sponsored abortion participants, is now using its National Health Care system to inform elderly sick persons that it is no longer economically feasible to treat them and that, in the interests of the State, they have decided to euthanize them. Apparently, they say it is very humanely done.

Looks like Pelosi and Kerry may have taken a financial hit w/AIG stock, that is, of course, if someone inside AIG didn’t give them a tip.

Pelosi, in her most recent financial disclosure form, reported that her husband owned between $250,000 and $500,000 of stock in AIG, which ceded majority control to the U.S. government this week in exchange for $85 billion of loans.

Kerry, the 2004 Democratic presidential nominee, disclosed that his wife, Teresa Heinz Kerry, had more than $2 million of AIG stock at the end of 2007, when shares were worth $58.30. AIG has fallen 85 percent this week to close yesterday at $2.69. The lawmakers’ aides didn’t respond to calls seeking comment.

fred — there is an interesting article on this on AOL today. I am unable to link it but it tells why Obama will lose.

    • Brendy

If both candidates were WHITE, what excuse would be given THEN for the loser? Racism??? LOL! Boy! There musta been a whole lot of ‘racism’ going on in these past 40+ presidential elections!

See how totally STUPID this is! The Obummer promoters are just trying to inspire ‘guilt’ thinking more white people will vote for the bum, REGARDLESS of his CRAZY/DANGEROUS plans and his CRAZY/DANGEROUS/RADICAL associates/friends he has

  • sayitisntso

I am concerned that some journalists who are incompetent on the present financial issues are telling us that we may be in for a period of government control and that the market driven policies of Reagan will come to a screeching halt. This sounds extreme. Anyone care to comment?

    • mcpalin hill

sayitinstso — Privatization seems not to have worked so its its time for some control. If the govt pays money to corporations it has a right to control what these corporations do.

  • jvsp

fred: ” If you’re white and you vote against Obama’s unqualified white side how can you racist?”

    LMAO!

    • mcpalin hill

jvsp — Obama is so unqualified for so many reasons–now he wants to make us guilty to get our votes.

  • Obama is a bum

Rangel needs to go, this guy is a disgrace.

    • http://JohnMcCain.com Chockablock “Hillawee can you change my diapy pwease” Opampers

      His statement hurts Opampers. ;)

  • fred

    jvsp exactly

If you white and then they call you racist for not voting for Obama . please let them know you’re not racist you’re voting against Obama’s unqualified white side. nothing against his black side no no it’s his white side that’s unqualified…

    • jvsp

      fred
this is probably heresy, but I am so irritated over the whole race baiting rubbish that at times I actually countenance the idea of electing O just so I wont have to hear any more. “there, you got “one” in the White House. Now leave me alone.” Of course that is a horrible idea, but it highlights the pt. that all this race card dealing is hardly making anything better. The post-racial, post-partisan politician will prove to have been a disaster for race relations.

      “unity”

      ROTFLMFAO

  • The Sane John

I guess we can go back to 2000 and that election. As we settled in to watch the evening news coverage of the election results, the polls that day had already told us who was going to win. And yet, I must have missed the inauguration of Al Gore. Oh, right, Bush “stole” the election. Because, you know, the polls could not have been incorrect…

    about the charlie rangel snafu….

the obamacoup is behind his tax exposure, and has been making his life miserable because he was for Sen Clinton and not the bobo.

    just saying.

now…he must genuflect to the bobocoup by making himself look a fool while discrediting Gov Palin.

politics is some fun, ain’t it charlie?

    • http://JohnMcCain.com Chockablock “Hillawee can you change my diapy pwease” Opampers

now…he must genuflect to the bobocoup by making himself look a fool while discrediting Gov Palin.

He seems to have gone overboard. My theory is on purpose in revenge against Opampers and the DNC.

      • http://JohnMcCain.com Chockablock “Hillawee can you change my diapy pwease” Opampers

I should add like when Wes Clark went overboard in his “support” of Opampers to get away from Opampers.

        • Ferd McBerfle

If that was his ploy, it was effective. It sure beats a death by a thousand cuts if he were to have stayed close to Oblockhead. The same could be true of Rangel.

          • http://JohnMcCain.com Chockablock “Hillawee can you change my diapy pwease” Opampers

Finally someone sees my point! :) I hope you are having a nice weekend Ferd.

            • Ferd McBerfle

This is politics and the participants have to play by the rules, especially when the rules were rigged. It is the only way to survive. I believe this is why we are seeing strange behavior out of several Democratic politicians, including HRC.

  • http://mmb silverfox

chuck hagel is in bed with the obamacoup.

he’s looking to get into an obama administration.

    these guys are so transparent.

    McCain/Palin 08

    PUMA!

  • Skip

I always have an easy answer to my fellow whites who call me a racist because I’m NOT voting for Obama.

I simply tell them who I AM voting for…

    Cynthia McKinney (Green Party)

I’m a white man voting for a black woman. Racist? Nope. Sexist? Nope.

    Check, Mate

    PUMA

    • http://N/A breeze

      Me too, Skip!!!

And they’re too stunned to say anything…..

      LMAO

  • sayitisntso

    mcpalinhill,

I understand that, and thank you.

I’m thinking these journalists (and maybe voters)think in black and white on the financial crisis…and do damage.

How? Well, an Obama administration may regulate, but also cripple us with taxes, as he says he will. McCain has the more moderate approach. We need not give up capitalism just because some people in it need to go to jail! A 180 degree turn away from market driven philosophy isn’t good either. Fascism.

  • sayitisntso

    correction: Communism

  • sayitisntso

And with regard to terrorism AND the economy (Please note the 61 people dead by the homocide bomber in Pakistan today.):

The Democrats used to be an anti-Communist party with crypto-Communist supporters and members. Now the Democrat Party has been taken over outright by out-and-out neo-Communists who hide behind the ‘Progressive’ label. The reason we can’t question their patriotism is because if we did, we’d find out that they define ‘patriotism’ as fixing the USA by freeing it from its archaic Constitution and its oppressive capitalist institutions.

And this is why we should be afraid of any of Nobama’s “solutions” to the financial OR the national security issues, the latter of which seems to be timed just right for Hannibal Lector’s visit to NY.

  • caringnurse1

NeedProof.. The October Surprise will come in October…

  • sayitisntso

Basically the old Democrats just see themselves as a counterweight to the Capitalist Republicans. Every four to eight years, they see themselves as the Robin Hoods of the country who swoop in after years of unbridled greed and environmental desolation and redistribute some of the ill-gotten wealth to the desperate and malnourished. They genuinely see themselves this way. They are totally blinded by economic ignorance and self-righteousness.

However, in this financial mess, Congress is the culprit in not voting with McCain to regulate in the recent past.

  • iVet

I can’t wait to start playing rough right back at them. Look at this quote about Rev. Wright (especially the end) and tell me if that won’t sound good on a commercial in late October:

In Monday’s interview, Mr. Wright expressed disappointment but no surprise that Mr. Obama might try to play down their connection.

“When his enemies find out that in 1984 I went to Tripoli” to visit Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi, Mr. Wright recalled, “with Farrakhan, a lot of his Jewish support will dry up quicker than a snowball in hell.” Mr. Wright added that his trip implied no endorsement of either Louis Farrakhan’s views or Qaddafi’s.

Mr. Wright said that in the phone conversation in which Mr. Obama disinvited him from a role in the announcement, Mr. Obama cited an article in Rolling Stone, “The Radical Roots of Barack Obama.”

According to the pastor, Mr. Obama then told him, “You can get kind of rough in the sermons, so what we’ve decided is that it’s best for you not to be out there in public.”

    http://www.nytimes.com/2007/03/06/us/politics/06obama.html

Of course, the NYT will probably do what The Washington Post did today in order to defend Obama (about the Frank Raines issue) and just say that their own paper is not a good news source.

  • sayitisntso

(That “sex ed for kindergartners” thing really sealed the deal for Woody.)

WA says it would be a shame if Nobama lost in Nov.

  • Monet

Rev Amy: “He, too, made some stupid, ill-informed comment about Gov. Palin, the VP candidate for his own PARTY. Yes. First he said he doubted she had the experience to be vice president, especially in terms of foreign policy. Well, okey dokey – way to be a team player, there Chuck!”

I have to agree with Hagel, taking over as vice president is going to be extremely challenging for Governor Palin. She’s had less than two years of governing a state that is doing pretty well economically compared to the rest of the U.S. Sure she can see the Canadian and Russian borders if she chooses to, but what experience does she have with forming joint policies, treaties and agreements with those countries? She admitted until she became the vice president candidate she’d never talked to a head of state and hadn’t traveled abroad to Europe or Asia (as many governors have done) to open up markets for their states’ industries or to encourage foreign investment to create jobs in their states.

There are dozens of more qualified individuals than Governor Palin. She was chosen for her ability to energize a campaign. She also has a history of taking political office with very little qualification and experience and meeting the challenges.

I may be voting for McCain as a vote against Obama, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to pretend Governor Palin is the best qualified individual to be Senator McCain’s ticket. Arguing that she is, is ridiculous and I’m not going to spend my time arguing something ridiculous just to be a team player. Arguing instead that she meets challenges without the experience and qualifications, is a better argument.

    • jvsp

Your long argument as to why someone else would have been a better choice other than Palin is tres amusant given the contrast between Obama and Palin; AND the contrast between Obama and Hillary. By your reasoning there are TWO reasons for why Obama ought to have hit the rubbish bin. Obama is a stunning vacuity personified! Perhaps you can say something like “Harvard”, since that just makes up for everything! Perhaps you can acquaint yourself with all the previous presidents and their experience prior to office.

At the very least, listening to Palin actually speak without Obama’s stammering idiocy of platitude ad infinitum is enough of a reason to support her… um uh um ah and uh um uh uh uh… MORON!

  • SJ

She may darn well be the best qualified for the VP post and Washington because she has not been tainted by the mess that goes on there, if she was willing to boot even a member of her own party out of government why will she not do the same in Washington?

Maybe that is what some of them are so afraid of, they are afraid of her getting in there and shaking things up for a change, has anyone ever thought about that, so the best way to diminish her is to keep plugging away at the no experience crap.

All those in Washington with all those years of experience can they say like she can that they took on their own party and won? Let the woman get her chance she might be exactly what Washington needs.

    • Ferd McBerfle

Oblockhead’s original shtick was that we needed someone from the outside to change politics as usual and didn’t need someone with experience. It would seem to me that Palin fits the bill so there shouldn’t be a problem. But that would mean the Oblockhead would have to be both honest and not a flip-flopper. Never mind.

  • sayitisntso

Monet, you’re just trying to cover Democrats, but they have had an abysmal record at national security for at least 48 years! You can’t blame McCain/Palin for that.

Why has Brazille and her legions failed at promoting an electable candidate in the last THREE attempts????

    Nobama!

  • sayitisntso

Also, Palin has an 80% or 73% approval rating in Alaska which is insanely high for any politician. It is impossible to clean up Dodge without making enemies. I’ve heard the disgruntled Republicans speak out, who are angry with her because she outed their sugar daddy governor. Palin is unusually courageous – and she is heroic in her goals and achievements.

  • http://! Clinton Fan

Amy, I love you dearly, but you are thinking TACTICALLY, while RANGEL is thinking STRATEGICALLY.
    Here are the key points:

    1. RANGEL doesn’t want to have to stump for Obama. He’s got things at home he needs to take care of.

    2. RANGEL is a Democrat, and a House Leader, and BLACK. That makes him a HUGE FUNDRAISING DRAW….a guy who could be put to work from now to November.

    3. RANGEL is a strong Clinton fan. He’s not enamoured of Obama.

    4. RANGEL cannot decently tell Obama he doesn’t want to stump for him, because it would hurt him in his own Harlem district…thus, he needs to find a way to make himself sufficiently UNAPPEALING, so Team Obama WON’T ASK FOR HIS HELP.

How best to accomplish this? Pull a WES CLARK…say something SO OUTRAGEOUS that it makes you RADIOACTIVE. Unattractive. NOT A HELP.

Do you think Obama’s crew will call on Wes Clark after his “Being shot down/a POW doesn’t qualify you to be President” line??

Do you think Obama’s crew will call on RANGEL after these remarks?

It’s a BRILLIANT TACTIC–a way to get OFF THE HOOK, while “appearing” to be ready to serve. Hell, I’d pay to see Charlie–even though I disapprove of Obama. I think Charlie is SWELL. Ever since his heroism in Korea as a serviceman, he “hasn’t had a bad day since,” and it shows in everything he does.

The INOCULATION strategy is nothing short of GENIUS. Bill Clinton used it (by refusing to say bad things about McCain and Palin, among other remarks) and Wes Clark used it, and now, RANGEL is using it.

LOOK BEYOND THE OBVIOUS. Charlie said what he said to take himself OFF THE OBAMA FUNDRAISING Merry-Go-Round.

And look at Obama’s schedule, and tell me how many appearances the much-beloved, the powerful, and the supremely CLEVER Charlie Rangel has scheduled.

You GO, CHARLIE!! YOU GO!!!!!!

  • McKatmoon

    Damn Brilliant Observation Clinton Fan

The INOCULATION strategy is nothing short of GENIUS. Bill Clinton used it (by refusing to say bad things about McCain and Palin, among other remarks) and Wes Clark used it, and now, RANGEL is using it.

Thank you, it is obvious, good analysis, great reminder.

  • Pink Panther

    Rangel:
did not report rental income on vacation housing,
stored his Mercedes-Benz, whose registration expired 4 years ago and which was being kept in a House of Representatives indoor lot without plates, all in violation of congressional rules,
used his four rent stabilized apartment units in Harlem for business, and
used his congressional stationary to drum up private funding.

The House ethics committee plans to begin investigating some of the ethical issues surrounding Rangel, chairman of the tax-writing House Ways and Means Committee.

    Rangel is ethically disabled.

  • http://uppitywoman08.wordpress.com Uppity Woman

You’ve got to be kind to the disabled but you don’t have to be kind to income tax evaders.

Here’s a guy who is pushing “Fairness” and supporting a platform where the rich gives their pie to those who aren’t rich, particularly via taxes. And here he is, nailed for tax evasion. Another one caught in his own irony.

  • fred

THE VILLAGES — Thousands of people formed a line circling the pavilion at Lake Sumter Landing Market Square on Friday morning, each waiting to secure a ticket to attend a rally for GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin. Rich Cole, president of The Villages Republican Club, said that approximately 16,000 tickets were handed out Friday. Cole said that the Palin rally will rival any political event that The Villages has seen.

  • Artemis

Charlie Rangel just offended all the families that have a disabled family member. Add them to the small town folks (bitter and clinging to their guns) and to the offended Hillary supporters, and McCain reaps the benefits. Let’s see which Obama supporter comes out next and takes a swipe at some other group.

    • http://! Clinton Fan

No, he didn’t. He said “POLITICALLY SPEAKING.”

What he did, as I said above, was write himself an excuse note so he won’t have to campaign for Obama anymore.

THAT’s why he said what he said–to get off the hook.

Stop beating up Charlie…he’s a CLINTON LOYALIST, and a good guy.

      • Brendy

Palin in NO more disabled “Politically Speaking” than Obummer – and Obummer is the one who’s running for the HIGH OFFICE – NOT PALIN!

  • Pepper

I have always been proud of my country!!!

    Go McCain/Palin
