A New Twist On Troopergate and The Questions You Should Ask Yourself.

Sarah Palin, for very obvious reasons, has made a lot of enemies in Alaska… enemies in both parties. She has taken on corruption bigtime and “left a trail of bodies all over Alaska” in her crusade against wasteful spending.

It now looks like the “Troopergate” thing is turning into a modern day “Whitewater” in which a prosecutor starts out looking for one thing, doesn’t find anything, then digs and digs and digs, turning over ever rock possible, and all the while starts flinging mud to do as much damage as possible… because it’s not really about a crime, it’s about politics.

It is now well established that Monegan, the state police chief, was fired because of insubordination and fights over budget disagreements. More specifically, Palin claims that the last straw was an “unauthorized” trip Monegan planned to take to DC in order to lobby Congress for funding after Palin refused to provide the funding from the state coffers.

So, here are the newest twists…

First, according to ABC, it turns out that Palin’s office did approve the trip, which meant that Monegan could use state funds to pay for his travel expenses.

The McCain/Palin camp responded with…

…a statement from Randy Ruaro, another aide to Palin…. According to Ruaro, Monegan asked for — and received — approval for the travel without telling Palin’s staff his reason for going. “As a matter of routine, the travel was approved by Mike Nizich … weeks before the actual purpose was made clear by former Commissioner Monegan,” Ruaro wrote.

And now for the second twist…. According CBS,

Monegan told ABC that the travel authorization was explicitly to pursue funding for the anti-sexual-violence program, though the document does not state that as a reason for the trip.

McCain-Palin responded with this in that same article;

McCain spokesman Taylor Griffin said Friday that the travel authorization was for a routine trip, and that state commissioners regularly travel to meet members of Alaska’s congressional delegation.

“He was not authorized to lobby Congress,” Griffin said.

.

Ok, so we have to keep one thing in mind… we are talking about an issue that involves Presidential politics, so we remember that these people are playing on the most hardcore playing field ever.

Presidential elections and the success of the candidates mean power and money for tens of thousands of people across the country. This is not a game, but deadly serious and we have to look at these things with a ver different kind of eye, because in this arena, very little can actually be taken at face value.

So, we have to take a step back from our initial reaction, which is probably something like “OMG, She’s against an anti-sexual violence program?!?!” and think about the dynamics logically… thru another prism.

We have to do what the media refuses to do… peel back the tabloid drama, filter out the partisanship and the spin and look at the who, what, and why.

So let’s start with some questions…

1. What are the reasons that Palin was chosen as McCain’s Vice Presidential Nominee?

Palin was chosen because she is a maverick like McCain, has a record of anti-pork and corruption, is fantastically well versed in Energy policy, instantaneously solidified the conservative base, and also because she is a woman.

2. What is the biggest threat that Palin, as McCain’s VP nominee, poses to the Democratic Party and to Barack Obama?

Of all the attributes Palin has, the biggest direct threat to Obama and the Democratic Party is her gender.

Now, please DO NOT mistake what I am saying. I am in no way saying that McCain picked her beause of her gender.

The similarity in status as a maverick, the intense energy resume and the solidification of the party base were the primary reasons. The religious conservatives love Palin… period. The domestic energy issue rounds out McCain’s international and foreign policy resume, solidifying the fiscal conservative as well as the national security base in the Republican Party. These people weren’t going to vote for Obama, but they may not have ALL voted for McCain but for Palin.

No, the direct threat to Obama is her gender because she has the potential to take votes away from Obama and give them to McCain in large numbers given the VERY unhappy female Democratic base due to the contentious primary season and the passing over of Clinton as VP candidate.

This is worse than people not vote for Obama and going third candidates, which many disatisfied female Democrats had planned on doing until Palin arrived on the scene. The reason is that a Democrat that votes for a third candidate is a -1 net loss for Obama, while a Democrat that votes for McCain is a -2 net loss for Obama because it is one less vote for Obama and one more vote for McCain. This means that for every person that votes for a third party, Obama only needs to replace them with one more voter, but for everyone that votes for McCain, Obama must now replace them with 2 voters… a much bigger problem. Twice as big, really.

3. What are the traditonal “women’s issues?”

The “traditional” women’s issues are children, choice, abuse and education. When politicians focus on women… these are the things they focus on. Well, and healthcare too, but no one seems to be talking about healthcare too much at the moment.

4. How do you stop women from flocking to Palin?

The Democratic Party and the Obama has been in a scramble to figure this out, and have thrown the proverbial kitchen sink at her in the process.

The left has screamed about how she wants to overturn Roe v Wade and teach creationism in schools but these attacks have not worked, so they continue to scream about these things and have moved on to several other attacks in tandum.

They have slanderously lied about her cutting funding for everything from special needs kids to pregnant teenage moms, both of which hit Sarah suspiciously close to home because she has a pregnant teenage daughter and a son with Downs syndrome. These accusations turned out to be not only untrue, but it turns out that she increased funding to these programs by as much as 300%.

Then came the horrendous personal attacks which devolved into everything from calling her white trash pornstar look-a-like, to articles talking about masturbatory fantasy involving a Palin, a threesome and the Constitution. One journalist even sunk so low as to as the question about whether Palin played the “retard card.”

And none of it has worked. Actually, the attacks have seemed to backfire.

5. How does this latest “Troopergate” twist fit into the puzzle?

Ok, so keeping in mind all of the above, we now look at troopergate.

Troopergate’s only implication for Palin was that she was possibly not as squeaky clean on the anti-corruption/clean government issue as she claimed, not an issue that addresses the crisis Obama is facing with the women’s vote… until now.

6. Why should you be skeptical?

You should be skeptical of all the “Troopergate” information for several reasons, but mostly… it’s a political hit job.

We must keep in mind that Monegan was not really fired. He was offered a transfer to a non-cabinet position in another department because of the difficulty in working with him, but decided not to take the transfer and instead opted to leave government employ.

It is also obvious that this man has severe personal issues with Palin. Perhaps he resents a woman being in power and telling him no. He certainly seemed to have a problem with his now ex-wife, who had to have a restraining order issued because he broke into her house, beat her and threatened to kill her. I am not talking about the trooper here, who was an abusive husband as well, I am talking about the Chief himself.

It is also important to note that the apparent basis upon which we find out that the trip was about lobbying for an anti-sexual violence program is the word of Mr. Monegan himself. The reason for the trip is not enumerated on the written authorization for travel, and Palin’s assistant noted that he did not make it clear what the trip was for when it was approved.

We must also take into account the topic that they are giving for travel… could ANYTHING possibly be more damaging to her appeal to women than her being against a program to fight sexual violence?

Much like the cutting funding to pregnant teens and to special needs kids, this just seems too damn perfect in a very specific way…

And we are supposed to just accept the word of a wife beating top cop that has an obvious grudge against Palin and has teamed up with a Democrat for a “prosecutor” that this very special and specific reason was the purpose of the trip that he got fired for? Really?

If this was really the reason for the trip, it is also interesting to note that, while I did notice the price tag for the program mentioned (in excess of $50 million dollars if I remember correctly), the details of the program are non-existant. What exactly was this program? What was it spending money on? What provisions already existed? Were existing provisions already sufficient? Was this really a pork project?

7. What the hell does this have to do with Palin firing Monegan for not firing her ex-brother in law?

The answer? NOTHING.

This is all political theater meant to get an emotional reaction out of you so that you vote out of anger and fear instead of with your heart and your head.

As my new friend Caro says… “Old Liberals have a moral center, it seems the new Progessives do not.”

This is a sharp, fantastic piece. It’s a political witchhunt. This woman has ruffled feathers in both parties and she has enemies in Alaska’s political scene. They will soon have egg on their faces.

I’m not so sure. The careers of Bill and Hilary Clinton show just how much damage you can do with unsubstantiated smears. The Democrats have learned their lessons well.

Awhile back, here in Tampa we discovered our officials were spending an enormous amount of money going to those so called programs.

They sound great on the suffice, anti violence, anti drug and so on. Who would be against someone going to those types of seminars?

I’ll tell you! All of us tax payers when we found out the details. We found out the seminars lasted a few hours and then they spent the weekend on tax payers dollars partying.

We also found out those seminars or programs could have been just as easily taken on the internet. It’s just another way for our officials to waste tax payer dollars under the pretense of well meaning programs.

Things aren’t always as they seem, and the media isn’t always an accurate place to get your information. Just look how many times the candidates have quoted the media only to find out the medias facts were wrong.

Well that puts it all in context.

      The man is pathological.

      • Jackie

In my opiniopn this is a good reason to remove a “top cop”

        • Creature of Chicago

We had a situation at one of our state police barracks, the trooper’s name was Michael something or other. After NUMEROUS complaints against him, he was finally fired for misconduct and he was jailed. He used his badge to locate and rape young women.

That scandal prompted Ed Rendell to introduce an Honor of the Force initiative in PA.

          That’s what governors do.

Unfortunately, it is often the case with these types of rogue cops that many incidents go unreported or unacted upon until the offenses committed become too egregious to cover up anymore.

        • Judy L. NC

          I agree with you, Jackie.

      • yttik

He didn’t just threaten to kill her and break into her house, he also dislocated her shoulder.

I wonder… has Obama ever hired or fired anyone?

    • mcpalin hill

Texas Hill Country — I think the American people are ready for whatever shit the media tosses at Palin to try to get Obama elected. We are sick and tired of the 20 month love affair they have had with The Kid from the Chicago Machine. If the media had been more subtle — or if Obama hadn’t pressed the flesh with Gloria Steinen and Sarah Bernhard and the rest of the filth that is being thrown at Palin we might have believed them. But this media has thrown Obama in our faces without the vetting that any normal candidate would receive. Now they slime yet another woman to get what they want.

In the end its the law of diminishing returns. Or how many times can you yell fire in a crowded theatre before people stop listening?

We need to ask ourselves who is behind Obama with all that money and why are they tearing this country apart to get him elected? That would be the far more interesting story and its up to McCain to tell it.

      • Deep Truths

        EXACTLY.

Not one of the MSM is willing or courageous enough to call Obama on his sh*t. Why is that?
Do they all have a vested (read monied) interest in this Chicago Thug Supreme making it to the White House.

There is an awfully lot of ‘splaining to do’ once this election is over. Hell, right now would do just fine.

      • Mirlo

Could it be that they want to create a playing field, where no one believes anything at all anymore? A preemptive step against the impending tapes to be published?

  • Morgan

I think her reaction to all of this is pretty good, just saying it’s all on the record. It’s weak sauce, and much like the US attorneys for Bush. They serve at the pleasure of the executive. No reason needed to fire them. The end.

    • JozefAL

Um, not quite. When an attorney being fired has apparently done nothing that MERITS firing, then a reason IS needed. The records that are maintained on all US attorneys showed that none of them had the kind of (pardon the expression) black marks on their records to warrant such unexpected terminations. (Nearly every individual had been very successful in the prosecutions they led and had maintained good relationships with the state and local authorities. It’s usually a low success rate or the White House’s receiving complaints about the attorneys that leads to a US attorney’s being fired in the middle of a President’s term, especially in the middle of the President’s SECOND term.)
The overwhelming majority of the attorneys who came under Bush’s guns were being fired at a seemingly inappropriate time (normally, a US attorney is fired within weeks of a President’s first few WEEKS in office–not years into the term, and especially so close to an election). The sheer timing of the matter was what came under fire and led to the investigations that the firings seemed to be directly tied to the attorneys’ not participating in Bush/Cheney/Rove-led witch hunts.

  • pm317

Did she really fire him? She said in H&C interview, she transferred him to another job and he did not like it and therefore, resigned. I have read that account elsewhere too. Why do people keep saying she fired him?

    • Kal

One of the basic techniques of smear politics –

Tell a lie. Make it a big one. Keep telling it. Some people won’t look behind it, and will just swallow it.

Worked real well in Germany, I hear.

    • jwrjr

According to the original article above, your memory is correct. She didn’t fire him. He quit.

      • Judy L. NC

Another overlooked detail is that her brother-in-law harbors no grudge. That says a lot.

        • Judy L. NC

          EX-brother-in-law

        • pm317

and he was never fired. He is still at the job, I think.

      • tampagurl

It’s a way to twist the truth, which Obama and the media are very good at.

Their twist is if you ask someone to take a different job other than the job they were hired for, they can claim they were fired from “their job”. Total B.S. and just more reason not to believe the lying dogs about anything.

  • wodiej

another desperate attempt by the Obama camp…pathetic. No wonder the police chief didn’t want to fire the trooper-he’s a wife beater too.

    • lark

If McCain beats Obama we will still have Obama for the next 30 years. But if Palin beats Obama, the the Oblahblah will be history, gone. He might as well resign from the Senate. The party will go back to Hillary. [Provided Hillary does not stoop down to support Obama.] Otherwise Obama will knock down Hillary’s chances for anything, including legislation.

The best scenario for everything to go right is for the people of the U.S. to support the election of Gov. Palin as VP for this country, and for her to make a big entrance in Washington DC.

  • wac for hillary

It is becoming increasingly clear that the “new” Democratic Party is nothing more than the disgusting Republican Party of 2000 and 2004. Along with being afraid of Palin being able to pull women to McCain’s side, Obama and his buddies swilling at the hog trough are deathly afraid that McCain and Palin will cut off their multi-million dollar freebies. Dodd, Kerry, Obama, and who knows who else in Congress are up to their eyeballs in this financial mess our country is facing now. So, in my mind, the Democratic Congress is just as culpable as the Bush administration concerning this financial runaway train.

It is my fervent hope that when McCain becomes President, he unleashes Palin on these people who long ago forgot who they are supposed to be representing. They are the only ones who have any chance of eventually getting us out of this mess.

    • Betty

I think that is also why they opposed Hillary so violently. It was obvious they had a lot to lose if Hillary got control. We need to listen to her when she speaks about what legislation she supports and then if we agree pull out all the stops to let our representatives know we want them to follow Hillary.
So we have two jobs: a landslide for McCain, and support Hillary’s initiatives in the Senate. Then we, the people will get as close to a fair resolution to this financial disaster as we can hope to get.

      • Deep Truths

Support Hillary for Senate Majority Leader.

Working with McCain-Palin-Hillary administration, America will be back on the road to sanity while really cleaning up Washington.

Prediction: Nancy Pelosi will definitely not be Speaker of the House when Obama loses.

        • Judy L. NC

I wish someone would write an article on how Speaker of the House and Senate Majority Leader are chosen. Or, does anyone have a linky dink?

          • JozefAL

The Speaker is elected on the first day of a new session of Congress. The election is presided over by the Clerk of the House of Representatives and each party nominates a candidate. Whoever receives a simple majority of the votes is elected and, after election, is sworn in by the Dean of the House, the chamber’s longest-serving member.

Speaker of the House (from Wiki):

In modern practice, the Speaker is chosen by the majority party in the House; it is usually obvious within two to three weeks of a House election who the new Speaker will be. It is expected that members of the House vote for their party’s candidate. If they don’t do so, they usually vote for someone else in their party or vote “present.” Voting for the other party’s candidate is dealt with very severely. For example, when Democrat Jim Traficant voted for Republican Dennis Hastert in the 2001 election for Speaker, the Democrats stripped him of his seniority.

            (Full article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speaker_of_the_United_States_House_of_Representatives )

            As to Senate Majority Leader:

The Senate Majority and Minority Leaders (also called Senate Floor Leaders) are two United States Senators who are elected by the party conferences that hold the majority and the minority respectively. These leaders serve as the chief Senate spokesmen for their parties and manage and schedule the legislative and executive business of the Senate. By custom, the Presiding Officer gives the Majority Leader priority in obtaining recognition to speak on the floor of the Senate.

            (Full article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Senate_Majority_Leader )

As I’ve noted on other threads, it’s extremely unlikely that the Dems would select Hillary to be their leader in January (regardless of the election’s outcome) and it’s as unlikely that Hillary would seek out the post simply because it will almost certainly rule out her running for President in 2012. (I’m not sure how New York state laws work, but since her Senate term ends in 2012, she’ll have to decide whether she’d rather make a re-election bid for the Senate and give up a Presidential bid until 2016 OR run for the White House and give up her Senate seat. It’s not likely that Senate Democrats will want to give Hillary their top Senate position if it looks like she’ll only keep it for 2 or 3 years–she’d have to form the obligatory “Presidential Exploratory Committee” by 2010 at the earliest, and a decision to run for the White House would have to be made by 2011 at the latest. A run for the White House would likely be the end of her Senate career, barring some major early primary losses where she could still run for the Senate. A series of successes in the primaries, and wrapping up the nomination would likely lead Hillary to follow Dole’s 1996 precedent and resign from the Senate before the convention.)

        • mcpalin hill

deep truths — All of the leftwing of the Democratic Party will run for cover if Obama loses. And if the Republicans get control of Congress the entire General Election fiasco might put a few top Dems in Jail. Yesssss won’t that be a great day for Democracy!

For the first time in over 30 years, I will vote for a Republican ticket: McCain/Palin ’08, because I love my country. I will vote for the candidates who are for the people, after all the government is supposed to be for the people, by the people & of the people ! This country is going to be for the corrupt leaders & their cronies, IF THE UNPATRIOTIC PEOPLE ALLOW THAT TO HAPPEN BY HIRING THE MOST UNQUALIFIED, CORRUPT, PHONY, DECEPTIVE, PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE, BARACK OBAMA!!!
We need McCain/Palin to clean Washington & the Wall Street. They are proven. Gov. Palin thru her initiative, is a Governor for the Alaskans, who are now benefiting from the oil divedends the amount of $2,000 plus for each eligible Alaskans. Lucky they are but in Jan. 2009, Americans will be lucky too, for McCain/Palin are the new leaders.

McCain did not get much money from any of these Wall St. folks, but I would like to see him return their contributions and tell them to use the money to help pay back the American taxpayers…then the ball would be in Obama’s court, and we all know he isn’t giving 1.2 million back, or disowning these guys from his campaign…if he did he might actually have to depend on those 14.00 checks from all those millions of ordinary folks. Tell us another one, Barack!

Just a question, bot what the heck is your motivation for coming on this board, I mean obviously you know you can’t convince us other wise, so why in the heck are you here. Every now and then I will go to black voices on aol to try and show blacks they are making a huge mistake and that obama is taking advantage of their loyalty and will do nothing for them after the election, since he has a history of this, but why the hell do you come on him, non of you have any real substance to add. so what’s the point the only thing you do is come one and either A. try and convince us Hillary wants us vote for obama, when time and time again we say we wont do it. or B. you ask about he whitey tape and try to crack on larry for giving people a heads up to a rumor, when you candidate lies about every thing under sun, C. try to lasso us with roe vs wade. But i you know we don’t give a damn about what you say, and mority of you add nothing to the conversation. So the only reason you are here is to bully people, there by ruining you candidates chances of winning because of this. None of the people on this board, are weak minded, so every times you come on here and bully people, they become more resolved not to vote for you candidate, and to go out and make sure no on does either. all you are doing is strengthening resolve. So if you really want a smidgen of a chance to laugh in our face, i suggest you go somewhere and shut your mouth. cause more i dislike you the more I dislike obama.

dan — where is Obama’s birth certificate? Where is his medical records? Where are his school records? Where are his state senate records? Why does he hang with people who hate this country? Keep laughing pal — cause when the truth comes out its going to be hilarious to watch the DNC and the media who tried to force Obama blame everyone else. Especially with a Republican Congress — a lot of people might be doing jail time because of BO.

Politico exclusive — McCain and Obama now tied on question “who better understands women.” Obama once had a 34 point lead.

About one in four women who supported Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton in the primaries now said McCain and Palin have a better grasp of women’s needs than Obama and his running mate, Sen. Joe Biden.

I hated the Whitewater witch hunt, and I hate the troopergate one too.

    • mcpalin hill

katmandu — The fact that Obama and McCain are tied among women is a loss for Obama. Remember the Bradley Factor. Obama needs 6% more than McCain to win.

Lets forget whatever scandals the Obama dirtbags are going to pull out at the last minute to destroy McCain/Palin. Lets just keep our eyes on the prize.

  • Annie

Also wonder how involved the media cable/tv station and newspaper owners are in the whole financial break down – could be a reason for the extreme bias against McCain and Palin…and previously against Hillary Clinton. “Something is rotten in Denmark…”

I also suspect they are as vicious as they are because they have been trumped by Obama himself – they surely didn’t know him as well as they thought they did. Big mistake…

  • mrduffin

McCain has said he does not want the trash on obama published. So far his supporters have complied with his wishes. This could change so sometimes it best to let sleeping dogs lie…plus with his main finace officer being knee deep in the mortage breakdown, dirt is not needed since the facts will do.

ps – the chief of police estimated it at 25,000 – which is more similar to what a few friends of mine told me. The only people saying 60,000 are the McCain campaign quoting the “fire marshall.” Only problem? The last 10 times they announced crowd size, it came out later that they were lying.

Not really surprising. They’ve pretty much become pathological liars.

Palin’s explanation of this situation on Hannity rang true to me. Even if every allegation that has been thrown at her was true, I don’t feel that it would be disqualifying so why do they bother? Sarah seems like a tough woman who has shown a great deal of poise throughout this whole ordeal.

I think that if the media and Dems didn’t unfairly attack her from the get-go the faux scandals against her might resonate but true to the Cry Wolf syndrome, I believe that undecided voters aren’t paying a lot of attention to this thin gruel.

P.S. Polls seem to be closing up again to nearly tied.

Monegan is getting paid off to follow along. Monegan said before she never said it was about the trooper and she did not pressure him. but he said he thinks it had to do with the trooper.
So, monegan is just pushing thi along for political reasons. This investigation will be over in another week. The press loves it because they can attack a strawman. the trooper is a scumbag and should have been fired for one. And 2 she had every right to fire monegan. As governor she can fire an appointee if she wants. It is her job.

    • mcpalin hill

Paul — The trooper says the Obama Campaign tried to pay him off but he refused. He will not hurt Palin who he supports or his wife and child. He says he was wrong.

  • yttik

Monegan was also fired from his previous job.

Read some of the problems Palin had with him from the emails they’ve released:

“In February, Monegan signed a public letter of support for a $3.6 million project designed to keep troubled teens off the street in Anchorage — even though the governor had vetoed the project last year and hadn’t included money for it in her budget this year.

“I am stunned and amazed — do you know anything about this?” budget director Karen Rehfeld wrote to two other high-level staffers when she learned of the letter.

“Think about that: one of the governor’s own cabinet members publicly contradicting her veto decision,” Stapleton said.

All it does is piss me off more with obama, and think some of you little bots need medication and psych evaluations. you are the one who put Palins baby on ebay. there for I have a hard time excepting the relevance of possibly manufactured evidence. If ABC one of the big three can clip a little here and a little to try and make Palin sound like a war mongering idoit. then why would i believe a criminal, hateful little brat like you wouldn’t do the same or worse. In obama’s on words “you’re desperate and you will say anything to win” Keep it up, and you are going to rue the day, you ever cross republicans and pissed of hillary clinton supporters. Cause obama’s has plenty of skeletons in his walk in closet. So my advice is too leave palin the heck alone. Because no one no longer believes obama supporters are past fabricating evidence. When McCain selected Palin as his VP choice, I was alone amongst my conservative friends who thought this was a disastrous choice. As much as I agree with her on certain social issues, her lack of foreign policy experience nullifies McCain’s most powerful argument: experience. I would love to see a woman in the WH, but I would have preferred Kay Bailey Hutchenson.

I am waiting until the VP debate to make my real judgement, but based on her two interviews (Gibson and Hannity) I’m concerned my fears were correct. If she blows the debate, my vote my go to Bob Barr. McCain is 72 yrs old and has a history of heath problems. This cannot be taken lightly.

I keep wanting to see her and how proud she is of that grandson of hers. You know it was touching to listen to both McCain’s mom and Hillary’s Mom and know how proud they are. Still. No Barfy’s Grandma.

I am a single mother. I am often met with shock from Barfy supporters who wonder why I would not support the son of a single mother. I like to ask them about his single mother and why he became the (fantasy) person he claims, but wrote a book called “Dreams of my Father”. He didn’t honor his mother. Nope. He honors his father who deserted him when he was 2 and he saw again once before he died.

Not to mention that as a single mother, I just don’t see how Anne went traveling the world as she did and on whose money. I cannot afford to travel the world and I do pretty well financially on my own. If I could travel the world, I can’t see myself choosing Pakistan or Indonesia as places to vacation.

McCain, Obama lead off week with dueling ads

(CNN) – For the first time since the financial crisis broke, the economy took a back seat in the ad wars Monday morning.

John McCain’s campaign released a new spot – “Chicago Machine” – that takes aim at the politics and political figures of Barack Obama’s adopted hometown.

“Barack Obama. Born of the corrupt Chicago political machine,” says the announcer in the 30-second spot, citing lobbyist William Daley, “political godfather” Emil Jones, much-investigated Governor Rod Blagojevich and convicted felon Tony Rezko. “With friends like that, Obama is not ready to lead,” he says.

Why not put your energy into vetting YOUR OWN candidate. You’d be soooo surprised you’d be shamed into voting McCain-Palin just to get yourself cleaned up.

    • mcpalin hill

phil — you need to have some Kelloggs Albran because you are so full of crap. Let us know how it all comes out.

  • Phil Murphy

Kgirl – Granted that people may not like Obama, but where is the honor in not following up on lies, and high-fives all around on issues that have clearly been proven false.

Again, its fine to not like Obama, but at least be honest about the issues.

Like the past week McCain talking about Obama and Fannie Mae etc…. Now it comes out that McCain’s own Rick Davis got $2 Million lobbying for them in favor of deregulation.

We have to, as intelligent voters, sort out what is true, what is petty and act as adults ultimately when we pull the lever.

Is this not what Hillary Clinton would have us all do? Or is she the kind of person that would honor all the gotchas here?

    • kgirl1028

Following up on what lies? you mean obamas lies, or maybe you are talking about caucus fraud, using your minions to squash freedom of speech, posting a false birth certificate on your own “anti smear” site, or the lie that he filled out, on his bar application, or first saying Ayres just some guy in the neighborhood when you worked with him. should I keep going. Am i supposed to believe that your candidate will tell the truth about something, when he lies about everything, hell even his autobiography was for the most party fictitious.the only person in this race, who is being unfairly and inaccurately smeared is Sarah Palin, and after eight years of bush I refused to vote for someone who tells bad lies for sport. I can’t live with conservatism, but what i can not abide is deceit and people who will take away my constitutional rights. Barack Obama believes in nothing but barak obama, this man is at best Jimmy carter who I actually like, and hitler at worst. i refuse to vote for a man who reniggs on everything even as he is running in primaries. Nor will I vote for one that will cut his supposed friends throats to get what he wants. Hell I even feel bad for Wright, obama’ used wright to gain credence in the black community and then dumbed his behind when i got risky. And while I never would have been friends with someone like wright or have him as a spiritual mentor, obama did, this speaks volumes about who this man is.

Antideluvians as the story goes, had never seen rain, no preached for years and they called him crazy.
Now this I can under stand. But when animals they normally get in a boat and not try to eat each other, now that would have made me think. Same thing for obama supporters, obama is guilty of so much actual bull that would make you question this man judgement, but you rather try to judge palin on innuendo. grow up and get a clue.

      • kgirl1028

In obama’s case hell yeah. hell hath no fury, they didn’t put it in proverbs for no reason, these saying last through out time, because they are true.

Troopergate vs Berg vs Obama, DNC, FEC in federal courts of PA

    HMMMM…

Troopergate vs Berg vs Obama, DNC, FEC in federal courts of PA

Let’s see, which one has more bearing on the outcome of the GE…

    Where’s Barry’s documentation?

    • Kelvin Hearts PUMAs

The difference is the Troopergate is a legitimate issue with real evidence to support the allegation. One is put together by a 911 Truther who once tried to have Bush arrested for murder. He also found his evidence online and not though a legal source. Guess which story the MSM will pursue as a legitimate news story?

  • Sassy

I have made my decision…no more votes for dems!
Therefore, they can unload every damned trash dumpster from Chicago on Palin and she will still get my vote, and the votes of all my family!
Dirty cops are as bad as dirty politicans, and they need to be exposed and unseated!

  • Phil Murphy

Sassy – That’s sounds familiar – “My mind is made up, dont confuse me with facts!”

  • arabella trefoil

Please starve the trolls. How will they get a real job if we enable them?

I hear that Bill Clinton was terrific on The View today. Anyone see it?

“We must also take into account the topic that they are giving for travel… could ANYTHING possibly be more damaging to her appeal to women than her being against a program to fight sexual violence?”

Ummm…let’s say she were against a program to fight sexual violence. I am not offended by that. I don’t believe the government should be funding every single damn program that is out there. The government should be running the government. Social programs are great but something like this should be funded by local non-profits, not the government.

I want my tax money to go to schools, infrastructure, environmental protection (and cleanup) and basic social services (such as Medicare). I do not want my tax money going to every single social program in existence. So no, I don’t find her being against something like this (paid for by the government) to be a bad thing whatsoever.

    Social liberal, fiscal conservative here.

The rape kits are often charged to the person claiming rape. It happens in MANY states.

Alaska has high incidents of domestic violence, as does the state I live in.

I applaud each time one of these offenders is exposed. The number of women abused by their partners here in the US is alarming…it happens across all social status.

The brother-in-law was and is a man who needs treatment, not publicity.

The man who was transferred, and has a significant history of domestic violence, also needs treatment, not publicity.

Domestic violence against women should be a strike against these offending men…they should be ashamed.

instead the NEW Demokratic Party gives them a starring role in the SMEAR of Palin.

Don’t you love it that the D’s are defending TWO ABUSIVE MEN?…I guess hitting women is change we can believe in….

  • Deep Truths

    D-d-d…DAMN!

Holy Moly. If you listened to MSNBO you’d swear that there is SOMETHING TO HIDE. Good gravy.

What an ass they all are. MSNBC is soooo out of touch with reality.

Seriously, each night they play this Troopergate up as if its the last days of Sarah Palin. (not that I watch the whole show, you don’t have to be on longer than one minute to get the narrative.

MSNBC, you are a parody about MSNBC. Hopefully the ‘low information voter’ has access, somehow, someway with the truth.

  • kgirl1028

Just remember they always kill the press first.

  • kgirl1028

they don’t like to follow rules, and after they put obama in office, he will start laying ground rules and their stupid behinds with their over bloated egos will feel self exsempt and piss off the master.
    Of with their heads.

Awesome article. Walt Monegan is a sexist pig that couldn’t put up with women telling him ‘no’. He deserved to be fired.

  • Carol Davis

Shouldn’t the phrase be “she’s taken to corruption”?

  • mcpalin hill

I am watching McCain and Cindy on Rachel Ray. They are so nice.

I am going to try McCain’s recipe for grilled baby back ribs.

    Troopergate for Dummies

We’re a nation in a hurry, and many seem to want to get their news in the same way. There’s the sound byte instead of the entire speech. There’s the Reader’s Digest adbridged version of books, in lieu of reading the entire volume. There’s the quick “how to” on every subject imaginable: Computers for Dummies, Pregnancy for Dummies, Cooking for Dummies.

In that vein (and since much of the news media doesn’t seem to want to dig into and THEN REPORT the actual FACTS of the story), here’s my abridged version of Troopergate.

Good ol’ boy has a job.
Good ol’ boy doesn’t do his job. He doesn’t meet budget. He misses deadlines and refuses to work as a team with other leaders in the administration.
Good ol’ boy is asked to move to another position.
Good ol’ boy refuses the offer and quits instead.
    Good ol’ boy whines.
Good ol’ boy’s friends decide to turn the entire episode into a “political” extravaganza….costing the people of Alaska thousands of dollars in the process.
Troopergate: just more evidence of the good ol’ boy, same ol’ politics as usual network.

Tired of the good ol’ boy?
Tired of a media that refuses to search out and REPORT the FACTS in an unbiased fashion?

Put power back in the hands of the people.
    Vote for proven change.
    Vote McCain/Palin.

Here’s the most complete review on Troopergate I’ve seen:

kgirl – your 11:41. It always cracks me up how blacks can use “master” in a sentence, but let some white dude use colloquial speech and one is a racist.

A good friend of mine uses the N word to talk about a friend of his. I would never dream of using the word. But it points to a double standard where you for instance jumped on me ( in another thread), and dont have the decency to apologize for calling me a racist for saying “pot calling the kettle black”.

You really need to look within before you start calling people racist.

My parents are from San Francisco – born in 1908 and 1911 respectively. In the 1930s, with their catholic faith, they spent alot of time with the Chinese Catholic Church. In the forties, my dad was in the Post Office and went out of his way to push a black colleague into management. In the fifties, my parents sponsored some friends from India.

Now my parents used the word colored. Were they racists? They used other words at the time as well that are not considered PC today.

I grew up in the sixties and lived through a time which I though was over when everything was up for scrutiny.

I once took a writing class where two women told a man in a class that he had no right to pen a story from the point of view of a woman – go tell that to Phillip K. Dick who wrote one of his best stories from the point of view of Bishop Pike’s daughter in law ( The Transmigration of Timothy Archer ).

So dont go looking for boogeymen where there are none, or disregard friends when you dis them without hearing them out.

    http://www.pbs.org/now/polls/poll-435.html

PBS has a poll up on whether or not Palin is qualified to be the VP. I thought I’d post it here in case anyone has missed it.

    • Creature of Chicago

Where’s the poll on whether or not 0bama is qualified to be President?

  • TeakwoodKite

    TexasHill Country,

I have been asking myself questions about Gov. Palin and the treatment she has received. I believe the showing by Obama and the koolaid gang and the members of the MSM have officially declared 1st amendment bankruptcy.

Thanks for the oppertunity to “step off” and look at the big picture. These on attacks on Palin will backfire.
