Joe Biden Admits Obama’s Ad Was Below-The-Belt

Joe Biden talks with Katie Couric on the campaign and Obama’s reprehensible ad making fun of John McCain for his inability to use a computer — despite the fact that McCain’s injuries from torture make it impossible for him to type:

CBS’ Katie Couric: “Are you disappointed with the tone of the campaign — the lipstick on the pig stuff and some of the ads? And you guys haven’t been completely guilt-free, making fun of John McCain’s inability to use a computer?”

Biden: “I thought that was terrible, by the way.”

Couric: “Why’d you do it then?”

Biden: “I didn’t know we did it, and if I’d had anything to do with it, we would have never done it. I don’t think Barack… you know, I just think that was…”

Couric: “Did Barack Obama approve that ad? He said he did, right?”

Biden: “I don’t think anything was intentional about that. They were trying to make another point.”

      Joe Biden Rewrites History (again)

      MAJOR GAFFE ALERT

I am LMAO at the ignorance of the following comment by Joe Biden to Katie Couric and for Couric nodding in agreement with it. This is shocking!

      http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/09/22/eveningnews/main4470063.shtml

Behind The Scenes With Joe Biden
CBS News Anchor Katie Couric Spends The Day With The Democratic VP Nominee

      Sept. 22, 2008

CBS News was with him last Thursday during one of the rockiest weeks in history for the U.S. economy, something that wasn’t lost on the six-term senator.

“Part of what being a leader does is to instill confidence is to demonstrate what he or she knows what they are talking about and to communicating to people … this is how we can fix this,” Biden said. “When the stock market crashed, Franklin Roosevelt got on the television and didn’t just talk about the princes of greed. He said, ‘look, here’s what happened.’”

Here is the YouTube video clip of Biden with Katie Couric. You can see the comment at the 1:59 mark regarding Roosevelt going on TV after the stock market crashed.

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBl7jrD1GzU

Hmm, so, according to Joe Biden, when the stock market crashed in 1929, FDR appeared on TV and talked candidly with the American people.

Gee, that sounds so nice, doesn’t it? And Katie Couric just nodded along in agreement with Joe Biden.

But wait! There’s a little problem with what Joe Biden said: Historical Facts

The great Stock Market crash was in October of 1929.

Herbert Hoover was the President then.

FDR was not elected President until November 1932, the first of four terms.

      AND furthermore…

I’m pretty sure FDR wasn’t popping up on TV to reassure the American people of anything in 1929, given the fact that it was not until TEN years later, in

      (wait for it)

      1939 !!!

when FDR became the first President of the United States to

      (wait for it)

      APPEAR ON TELEVISION !!

FDR was at the 1939 Word’s Fair in New York in 1939 and his appearance was broadcast to a handful of TV sets in the New York area by RCA. That was the first time a US President appeared on TV.

      Question:

How can Joe Biden get a pass on uttering such ignorance? Did Katie Couric not know what a whopper Joe Biden was telling? Golly! Is Joe Biden senile? Seriously, WTF?

  • masslib

And then…”Late Monday, Obama campaign spokesman Bill Burton issued a statement from Biden. In it, Biden said he “was asked about an ad I’d never seen” and was “reacting merely to press reports.”

    Sad, Joe, sad.

    • imustprotest

They made Joe flip flop on his comment? Joe maybe didn’t know what a control freak Obama was or didn’t care I guess.

    • http://mybluecountry.googlepages.com/whattheobamademocratsaresayingposter Linda

OMG, no way? I guess I was right, what made Joe think Obama would have listened to him in the first place.

      answer, they wouldN’T

Obama IS the ugliness we are seeing and hearing.

      • Liz B

I have said it all along, and I am standing by it, despite the unpopularity of my opinion, I don’t have a beef with Joe Biden. Having lived in Delaware, I share a fondness for Biden with most Delawareans, that will remain intact after the GE. I know I want Dean, Pelosi, Reid and Brazille among others OUT of their leadership roles, but I think Biden took a hit for the party as much as Hillary would have been forced to do, had she been chosen for the VP slot. Biden’s enthusiasm for BO seems to be less than one would expect from a running mate, and I might add Pres. Clinton has been making a delicious tour of talk shows this week that I feel are a huge smack in the face of Obama and his supporters. (Tonight Greta has him on on Fox) I can only hope that this party will have the necessary purging after November, and that cooler heads will prevail when the dust settles. I might add, if BO loses his election bid, I can not imagine him having any interest in remaining in the Senate and actually having to step back from his superstar status. I think we have all seen the ego of this man, and he really doesn’t show any interest in working at a job, so hopefully, the lecture circuit will promise him a more flexible, non-demanding career option, and from now on Obots can seek him out and pay for the priviledge of his majesty’s presence. Translated: there may come a day when we don’t have to see or hear this man again…unless we choose to. But Joe Biden, well I predict he will go back to the Senate and continue to be reelected by the DE. faithful for as long as he wants to be. At least Hillary was spared the task of propping up BO’s sorry ass, that alone should merit our thanks to Biden.

    • Tuppence 411

Awwhhh a glimpse of the authentic Joe Biden….. He must need more Kool-aid.

  • masslib

Yes, Joe, two points. One, McCain is disabled, Two, he’s OLD… All very issues based.

    • seattle slough

Why isn’t it an issue that McCain can’t use a computer? Shouldn’t the commander in chief be aware of modern technology?

And don’t give me that war wounds nonsense. People who are total quads use computers. Double amputees use computers. What is McCain’s excuse? He can hold a microphone but he can’t move a mouse? This war wounds claim is pathetic and untrue.

  • Christy

Biden looks more and more miserable every time I see him. I really think he meant it when he said a long time ago he didn’t want the VP slot next to BO.

I guess no one wanted to run with BO. And that ad BO approved of is just incredibly cruel, even for him.

  • cocky wacko

You are really going to compare that ad to all the lies McCain has told? Give me a break.

    • masslib

Yeah, cause Obama’s incredibly truthful. Hillary will make poor people buy insurance they can’t afford. “She’ll garnish your wages”. You’ll end up in the poor house while she’s laughing her way to the bank with the insurance companies. I don’t take money from federal lobbyist, never mind their kids, spouses and business partners. I didn’t know Rezco was a crook. I’m against free trade. Hillary hates mexicans. on and on and on. You really have no ground to stand on with senator Pinocchio.

    • Ginger

      Your name speaks volumes……

      • Liz B

I agree! :) Never take advice from someone named cocky wacko.

    • jwrjr

The lies have almost exclusively come from the Obama campaign.

    • Obama is a bum

Wacko, everything in your mind is a lie if it is not praise for Obama and that is why you are wacko.

    • lombardi77

What lies? It is Bambi that is lying about these things. When it comes to the sex ed ad, have you read the bill because I have and Bambi is lying. It is a comprehensive sex bill and not a child protection bill. HE”S LYING! He’s lying about McCain on the bank oversight, McCain introduced a bill to increase oversight 3 years ago while Bambi was racking in 1.2 million from the bank industry and so he opposed it. He’s lying about his support for the botched abortion protection bill. He quotes McCain and stops in the middle of the sentence to make it look like McCain is making the exact opposite point of the one he was actually making. But of course based on your name you know all this because I suspent you are actually Bambi having wandered into the site (it’s the only person I know that perfectly fits the description.)

      • Jane

Please don’t demorilize Bambi. He was a sweet little deer. Obama is no Bambi. I agree with you on “all” of your comments about Obama. Ever notice when he is answering a question, he states the same thing over and over but in ten different ways to make it seem he actually knows what he is talking about. He keeps talking and talking but actually says nothing. Listen closely to his answers. I think he is so recorded in his own mind he just keeps hitting rewind and repeat all the time. In other words all of his answers are “MEANINGLESS” He keeps going in circles with his answers. There is an old saying, “Pete and Repeat were sitting on a fence, Pete fell off, who was left?” You got it – “REPEAT!!”

  • DisenfranchisedVoter

I kind of feel bad for Biden. I don’t have anything against him. It’s sad how the Obama campaign is treating him like sh*t and that he is now overshadowed by Palin. He really doesn’t deserve this. I appreciate his frankness and at least he is smart enough to acknowledge that Hillary would have made a better VP. It is all Obama’s fault and it’s unfortunate how everyone around him has to suffer or take the blame for his mistakes. Biden was right; the ad was below the belt and he shouldn’t have to be made by the Obama campaign to come out with a retraction. Whatever. Obama losing is probably a good thing for Biden.

    • just me

Looking at Joe Biden one can see why he will want to step down… I just hope Hillary stays the hell out of it….

      • csuzeq

I’d like to see him throw the debate. Say something major league stupid!

    • elise

I don’t have the least sympathy for Biden. I have always believed he and Dodd entered the race as attack dogs against Hillary for Obama. He should have acknowledged Hillary would have been a better president than Obama. IMO he was just trying to bring in some of Hillary’s support with his statement. Sorry, I’m just ” bitter, clinging to my Siddhartha and water pistol”.

      • just me

oh I do not have any sympathy for him but one look one can see hes way out on the side lines…

Looking like what the hell did I get myself into… the excitment is now over and the light has gone out…

        • elise

I do agree, just me. I admit I did feel a little twinge for him (Biden) when BO grabbed his wife and planted a big, wet kiss on her. Do you think he was showing his contempt for Joe when he did that?

    • Liz B

Considering the friendship Biden and McCain have shared for many years, it must be painfully embarrassing, and he just doesn’t deserve our wrath . He did our candidate, Hillary, a favor, try not to forget that PUMAs. There, but for the grace of God goes Hillary. Would anyone here truly have wanted to see that? Not me. I think Biden deserves a medal, and i’m sure he has Bill & Hillary’s deepest gratitude.

  • Northwest rain

Anyone hear Obama-Soetoro apologize for this ad??

No — I didn’t think so. Has BHO apologized for insulting Senator Clinton (and all women?) — No, I don’t think so.

    • Obama is a bum

When has Obama ever apologized? I wanted and expected Obama to withdraw from the race after the Wright tapes surfaced. He lied like hell about this situation then gave a speech throwing people under the bus while lecturing us! I have always felt that WE should be lecturing HIM.

      • jwrjr

Obama should issue a Japanese apology – with a sword. We could sell a lot of tickets to watch that.

        • andySF

That will imply honor, too much to ask from Obama.

  • Ginger

Biden is in this mess up to his eyeballs….and he knows it stinks. I am disappointed in Biden. I thought he might have some modicum of integrity….I admit I was wrong.
The fact that He doesn’t even see these ads and they put his name on them should make it hard to sleep at night. i hope so, anyway.

    • Obama is a bum

Anyone involving themselves with Obama has no integrity.

  • iVet

Of course, much like the Washington Post recently, he later overruled his previous statement, sort of, after being briefed by his bosses that he had screwed up by being fair to Senator McCain:

I was asked about an ad I’d never seen, reacting merely to press reports. As I said right then, I knew there was nothing intentionally personal in the criticism of Senator McCain’s views which look backwards not forwards and are out of touch with the new economic challenges we face today. Having now reviewed the ad, it is even more clear to me that given the disgraceful tenor of Senator McCain’s ads and their persistent falsehoods, his campaign is in no position to criticize, especially when they continue to distort Barack’s votes on an issue as personal as keeping kids safe from sexual predators.

    http://corner.nationalreview.com/

His argument seems to be that it is still a crappy ad, but he no longer denounces it because I have to keep defended Barack’s flawed sex-ed plan from attacks from McCain. He sound like they are trying to teach him some of Barack’s nuance and it sounds like grabage coming out of both of them.

    • iVet

Or, in another words, he was against it before he was for it.

    • Right on the left coast

I still can’t get over the fact that Obama is upset over McCain attacking him on the Sex Ed bill. The fact of the matter is that the bill extended sex ed legislation from grades 6-12 to K-12. There are some admirable additions in that bill, but nonetheless, it extended sex ed to law to Kindergarten. Agree or disagree whether that is a bad thing or not, but it did just that.

Here’s another doosey…the Obama machine has been attacking Palin without any factual basis for the charging of rape victims insurance for rape kits, etc. Funny, here is the current law in Illinois..that has been law since Mr. Obama was there.

      (410 ILCS 70/7) (from Ch. 111 1/2, par. 87‑7)
      Sec. 7. Charges and reimbursement.
      (a) When any ambulance provider furnishes transportation, hospital provides hospital emergency services and forensic services, hospital or health care professional or laboratory provides follow‑up healthcare, or pharmacy dispenses prescribed medications to any sexual assault survivor, as defined by the Department of Healthcare and Family Services, who is neither eligible to receive such services under the Illinois Public Aid Code nor covered as to such services by a policy of insurance, [bolding mine]

It seems as though it is common practice to this day in Illinois to charge victims insurance, if they have it, for rape forensic services.

Oh well, I guess nobody will ever ask him about that.

  • http://mybluecountry.googlepages.com/whattheobamademocratsaresayingposter Linda

Does Biden think Barry would have listened to him anyway? Maybe he didn’t and that’s why Biden said that. Barry has no bond with his fellow Senators, he hasn’t been there long enough to care, even if it wasn’t always just about HIM.

But Biden better break that nasty habit of his pointing, like he does. Especially right in someone’s face. If anyone, he should have scolded the young Backtrack Obama for putting out that ad.

  • jwrjr

The handicapped folk (many of them do vote) are going to just love the ad, Biden’s apology/non-apology and the Obama campaign’s “we were just telling the truth”.

    • agent77

it is the perfect length to make an ad out of…

    • Liz B

In case we need reminding, one year ago, this is what Joe Biden had to say:

“I think he can be ready, but right now I don’t believe he is,” said Biden. “The presidency is not something that lends itself to on-the-job training.” And what does he say about John McCain? “I would be honored to run with or against John McCain. I think the country would be better off.”

I think he probably believes it even more today.
There was a lot of talk this past spring that Hillary was a good fit with Joe Biden. He was my personal favorite of her choices, with Wes clark running a close second. Is it out of the realm of our imaginations to believe that perhaps Biden invisioned himself as running alongside Hillary? I think in 2012 we will see hillary running again, and I believe Biden will be enthusiastically supporting her.

Just think how these folks will treat the vets from Iraq and Afghanistan.

You, veteran, lost one leg? Why didn’t you lose two?

Blinded? Well you’re not blinded enough.

Burned horribly? This administration feels that your pain wasn’t enough.

Mother who lost her lower limbs and walked her child down the hall on her elbows? Obviously trolling for sympathy. I saw the photos and wept.

Those with nightmares and memories they can’t escape? Faking it.

Those, like John McCain, that use their lives and faiths to heal and try to help others? Politics as usual.

I found a story about John Mcain and Democratic Congressman MO Udall. He mentored John McCain as a Congressman . When MO was dying and his other “DC friends” no longer found the time McCain still visited. Mo’s Parkinson’s kept him unconscious most of the time. Then mostly unable to recognize anyone when awake. Congressman Udall’s nurse remarked to McCain, hardly anyone visits anymore. But John McCain did.

    • candymarl

BTW for you cynics, John McCain didn’t tell this story.

      • beebop

I read the article too. It ends with explaining why he reached out to Hillary when she arrived.

    • http://www.madinthemiddle.blogspot.com churl

I read that story. It was heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. Quite a feat. Mo Udall was one of my all time favorites. I’m glad to see he was remembered by at least one man.

What Obama doesn’t understand is Joe Biden is not the problem in that duet. Hillary wouldn’t be the problem if she’d been in that duet. Obama being at the top of the ticket is the problem. Thank you Susan for posting the video to what he said. Before it’s scrubbed from youtube.

Obama and Ayers Pushed Radicalism On Schools
    By STANLEY KURTZA

Despite having authored two autobiographies, Barack Obama has never written about his most important executive experience. From 1995 to 1999, he led an education foundation called the Chicago Annenberg Challenge (CAC), and remained on the board until 2001. The group poured more than $100 million into the hands of community organizers and radical education activists………..

When is someone going to get all this stuff out to the people. We know the mainstream media is going to do it, but it has to get out to the people and it has to be now. How else can someone like him be involved with so many wrong radicals, who can for infantcide, who can pray the prayers of Islam, who has a wife who isnt even proud of America, etc. and people still follow him…use your own judgement on this. You dont have to be a big time Christian to figure this out…GOD BLESS US ALL…WE WILL NEED IT

Not just you. Many people get a creepy feeling about him. Even if they don’t know much about his radical ties. They just say that something is not right about him!

I have heard people who say they get goosebumps from seeing him live and/or shaking his hand. I believe something happens, but those who think it is positive, do not understand that it is a bad feeling. It is just something they’ve not experienced before and misunderstand the power as good not knowing what evil feels like.

Those of us who get it have experienced evil before. I know I have. I know how these guys manipulate and twist to make you think you are bad for thinking ill of them.

(2008-09-15) — A new TV ad in which the survivor of a botched abortion calls attention to Sen. Barack Obama’s repeated opposition to protecting such babies could backfire on the pro-life group that created the commercial, according to the Democrat presidential candidate.

In the TV spot, Gianna Jessen, 31, calls on Sen. Obama to support born-alive infant protections because she claims that babies should have basic human rights “no matter how they entered our world.”

Sen. Obama today said that “While I suppose all life eventually becomes precious, that woman just proves that some lives are more precious than others.”

“Apparently a well-meaning medical professional saved baby Gianna’s life, ruining her mother’s hopes for a successful abortion,” Sen. Obama said. “To make matters worse, three decades later Ms. Jessen has become part of the problem in this country…another vicious collaborator with John McCain in the epidemic of brutal, negative political advertising.”

The Illinois Democrat said the question that American voters should ask themselves is this: “Are you better off now than you were 31 years ago before Gianna Jessen was inadvertently born? I know that I’m not.”

Now u tell me..is this one sick SOB or what…wonder why he didnt have Michelle have an abortion since i am sure he knows that in 31 more years this country wont even be around anymore if he gets elected…

I agree that Bobo and his camp probably didn’t know that Mac’s injuries affect computer use. They’re not THAT dumb! But, obviously, they’re sloppy and desperate enough to take cheapshots by even trying to make JM look ancient and out of touch. To me, it looks like Bobo is afraid of losing his young O-bots by this appeal. And it looks more and more like Biden is just going through the motions. I wonder how BO got him to accept the position, when I feel sure that he knows there’s no chance they will win. The usual methods of bribery or blackmail? I also wonder if Bobo actually had trouble getting someone to take the veep slot!! If so, hopefully the facts will filter out over time. And Joe figures he’s going to be back in the Senate in about a month, dealing with majority-leader-to-be Clinton and President-elect McCain.

Obama knows McCain was injured. That is the point… put him in a position to not defend the attack ad… or do so at the risk of appearing “old” or “weak” in some way. These guys are masters of the psychological undertone dispicable advertising… which is just a mirror of what they are as human beings themselves. Watch now as they try to blame Biden’s gaffes on some medical condition… call it “latent micro aneurysms”… make something new up… the media is in… they will feed the story to “the sheep”. Find some sucker in a white coat to validate the lie and blame this on a medical condition… anything but the truth that … Obama’s 3 a.m. judgement is severely lacking.

The question is not whether people are better now than they were 8 years ago. The question is….Is obama the right person to be president for the next four years? The answer is NO because he has shown time and time again he is anti-american. Anyone who votes for him is anti-american too!

The Democratic race to the White House has been a comedy of errors, lies and fraud.

Biden is in the dog house again.

Obama scolds Biden on AIG flip flop ” Joe should have waited”

UMass chaplain fails in effort to boost Barack Obama’s chances
University of Massachusetts officials yesterday quashed efforts by an Amherst campus chaplain to offer two college credits to any student willing to campaign in New Hampshire this fall for Democrat Barack Obama.
Chaplain Ken Higgins told students in a Sept. 18 e-mail, “If you’re scared about the prospects for this election, you’re not alone. The most important way to make a difference in the outcome is to activate yourself. It would be just fine with McCain if Obama supporters just think about helping, then sleep in and stay home between now and Election Day.”
Higgins added that an unnamed “sponsor” in the university’s History Department would offer a two-credit independent study for students willing to canvass or volunteer on behalf of the Democratic nominee.
“It is relatively (easy) to do late add-ons,” Higgins wrote.
But university officials disavowed themselves of the effort after inquiries yesterday by the Associated Press. They said it could run afoul of state ethics laws banning on-the-job political activity, as well as university policy.
“There is no independent study for credit in the History Department that involves partisan political work, and no such activity has ever been approved,” said a statement issued by UMass-Amherst spokesman Ed Blaguszewski.
Higgins refused to identify the History Department sponsor and referred all further questions to university officials.
Blaguszewski said Higgins is one of about a dozen chaplains from different faiths working in Amherst, the flagship campus among the university’s five schools.

Biden knows McCain will win in Nov, and he wants to be able to work with President McCain.

Which only deepens my assertion that Obama knew good and well “why” McCain does not type. This is just a calculated ploy. Either way you answer it… or not it just portrays McCain in some way negative. When in reality… who thinks the POTUS should send his time typing to begin with? The Obama campaign is a dispicable vile infested pus sack. Keep dirtbag politics in Chicago.

  • candymarl

Hawking is a victim of a disease. McCain’s injuries were deliberately inflicted by other human beings.

That’s the difference. McCain is not a whiner. Five years of capture isn’t enough for you is it?

There’s always a test. Who was there longer? You found one man who was there longer. Is that McCain’s fault? NO. McCain whose dad was a full Admiral could have had early release based on whose son he was and he refused.

So apparently you’re now pro-torture. As long as the person being tortured is someone you disagree with politically.

As a veteran you people disgust me. Support the troops my ass. You’ll be blaming them for the horrors and injuries they suffered when they come home. The same way you blame McCain.

You say McCain volunteered? So did John Kerry. Why don’t you see him as a war criminal?

  • candymarl

Was Steve Banko captured and tortured for five years? No? Then I guess he’s an expert on the subject.

John Kerry touted his Vietnam experience, minus the torture of course, and was hailed as a hero.

McCain didn’t ride the back of anyone. He lived through that stuff.

John Kerry told stories of fellow veterans but no one said he rode their backs to the Senate. Do you really want to go there?
