Come the end of the day the botts are so deep up the Axelrod axx they will have to be pulled out using a Dyson. None of us here would believe a word 0bama said if he swore on MEchelle's life. The people who are still undecided. They are the ones who are watching. They will make the decision as to what leadership looks like. If 0bama change his mind in the next 12 hours you will know what the polls are saying.

1. McCain is only down in the polls that have questionable internals (i.e. polled more than 10% more Democrats than Republicans, etc.)

2. Why would McCain NOT want to debate Obama, particularly in the area of foreign policy. McCain could talk circles around Obama on that issue.

Most likely, McCain was trying to be nice to Obama. He recognized that there was no way Obama could sit in an economic meeting for the next two days and also be completely ready to debate McCain on foreign policy. Obama is too focused on ME. He can't now or EVER think about putting country first.

Here's a great idea: McCain should send Palin in his place to debate Obama on Friday night. After all, a VP should be able to step in for the President when needed. Then Palin would beat the socks off Obama in the area of foreign policy!

Where did it say, he should come back to the Senate and suspend his campaign. The point of forcing him to take a position was that they knew he was going to cowardly not take a position and then use it as campaign issue. McCain is really unbelievable.

Yes McCain is way down in the polls today (a reversal of his posiiton two weeks ago). Yes it's not a good time to go into a debate when you've just experienced a quick reversal of fortune in the polls. That said, Mac has a great idea. All members of Congress should get there asses back to D.C. to roll up their sleeves, argue over the particulars, and pass a plan that will get meaningful, positive results. Mac is right to go back to D.C. and since there are two more debates, postponing/canceling one is not as important as the issue on the table. And Hillary should get her ass back to D.C., too. She's supposed to be in Michigan, stumping for Obama. This economic issue is more important. Hills, get on a plane and go back to the Senate. And Obama, you with your history of voting "present" in the Illinois Senate. Get your ass back to D.C, too. You need to take "ownership" of whatever bi-partisan decision is made for the good of the country. This is not the time to abstain or say you were out of town. All elected asses back to D.C., pronto. You all work for us. Now get busy.

He would return if the vote was close.

Jeepers Creepers, doesn't he think that the fact that he wants the most important job in the world should mean he should have some input in the discussions? A leader should lead, not just rubber stamp what others have decided. Is he afraid he might be asked some embarassing questions about how much money he received from Wall Street?

A senator is supposed to advise and consent, not "me too" after other people have done the advising.

DDO YOUR JOB, BARKY. IF YOU CAN'T STAND THE HEAT GET OUT OF THE KITCHEN.
Harry S. Truman-a president who really knew how to lead.

Obama said he made a call, but he did not get through to McCain.

Obama needs to get back to Washington. The debate is about foreign affairs, and it could be posponed for a week; but I'm sure Obama would like to have the stage all to himself.

I'd like to know who that debate commission is that would not delay the debate a week.

McCain aide hits 'desperate' Reid

Brian Rogers brings the bipartisan comity:

While Senator McCain has suspended campaigning in order to return to Washington and lend his assistance to the negotiations now underway on Capitol Hill, Senator Reid has put out a statement informing McCain that his presence would ‘not be helpful.’ In fact, this is quite a reversal from yesterday, when Senator Reid told reporters ‘We need the Republican nominee for president to let us know where he stands and what we should do.’

Unfortunately, Senator Reid is putting partisan politics ahead of the business of the American people. But there should be no mistake: 24 hours ago Reid and his Democratic colleagues on the Hill couldn't have been more desperate for Senator McCain's help in resolving this crisis. Now they've got it.

I know how frustratingly slanted the media's take on this is... I was screaming at the NPR coverage in my car 1/2 hour ago. I can not believe how dishonest the media is these days.
