Reid v. McCain – Updated

It would seem that the Democrats are playing the ultimate game of “GOTCHA!” with Senator McCain. No doubt, if you have paid ANY attention at all to the discussion around the Bail Out, you will hear Democrats reaming McCain for coming back, saying it was unnecessary since he wasn’t needed, and he isn’t saying anything anyway. Unlike Obama, who took over the meeting at the White House. It was shades of his time in the IL Senate from what I can tell. What do I mean? That it dissolved into shouting and yelling. What a leader. What a uniter. And by the time you read this, Obama will be winging his way to Oxford, MS, for the big debate – the first time he has ever shown ANY interest in debating. Huh. That raises an eyebrow for me…Anywho, he’s on his way, and McCain, who has the audacity to put country before presidential politics, though the Democrats accused him of doing that as well, has not left Washington.

Which leads me to an interesting article by Amanda Carpenter, “Reid Uses Clout To Trip Up McCain.” In it, Carpenter writes:

Democratic Majority Leader Harry Reid seems to be doing all he can as the Senate’s most powerful member to cause trouble for GOP presidential candidate John McCain.

Reid indicated Thursday that he will not hold any votes in the Senate on Friday so McCain has “no excuses” to skip the debate scheduled for that day.

Wait a second here – I thought the Senate and House were supposed to be working for US, to get our economy back on track. And Reid is already claiming he won’t hold any votes? Is he playing politics here? Evidently, because:

Reid’s move is curious since several news outlets reported earlier this week that Reid told the White House it was essential McCain take an active role in crafting the bailout—something that would certainly keep McCain off the campaign trail. “We need now the Republicans to start producing some votes for us, we need the Republican nominee for president to let us know where he stands,” Reid publicly told reporters.

Let me make sure I understand this. Harry Reid, the Senate Majority Leader, ASKED Senator McCain to return to DC to help get this bill worked out. Because McCain agreed, Senator Reid, who, IMHO, has been an incredibly ineffectual leader, castigates Senator McCain for coming back?? That sure seems like a “Damned if you do, Damned if you Don’t” scenario in bold relief. Carpenter seems to think so, too:

As soon as McCain announced he was suspending his campaign and possibly postponing a presidential debate in order to get to Washington to work on the bill, Reid began criticizing McCain for doing so.

“It appears to me John McCain is trying to divert attention to his failing campaign,” Reid said during a press conference Wednesday.

Shortly before McCain made his decision to return to Washington and had yet to make any statement on the bill, Reid distorted McCain’s position on the yet-to-be completed bill. “I’ve got some good news,” Reid told the press. “it appears Senator McCain is going to come out for this.”

When told by the Washington Post about Reid’s comment McCain flatly responded “I did not say that.”

Throughout the debate on the bailout package, McCain has refused to reject or endorse the plan. He has only said the final version of it must include stricter oversight standards and limits on CEO pay.

Reid is not the only one – every Democrat I have seen, from Rep. Barney Frank to Gov. Bill Richardson (here’s a newsflash to all of the news organizations – we don’t give a CRAP what Bill Richardson, that sexist, homophobic, back-stabbing creep has to say, so STOP giving him a platform already!!) has HAMMERED Senator McCain, claiming this was just a stunt on McCain’s part.

Wow. You might recall, well, only if you didn’t blink, that Sec. Paulson HIMSELF asked Senator McCain to return (SusanUnPC had it at No Quarter). Yeah, I figured you hadn’t heard that, the way the media has been busily spinning this. So, yes. Secretary Paulson asked McCain to do it, and in the interest of the country, McCain did. What is more, while McCain was being mocked and belittled by House and Senate Republicans, he didn’t say a word about Sec. Paulson having asked him to do this. That takes some character right there, if you ask me, something Harry Reid sure hasn’t demonstrated in all of this. No, rather Harry Reid and others in the Democratic Party have blamed McCain PERSONALLY for a bill not getting struck (
Deal May Be Dead: Democrats Blaming McCain
). Yes, that’s right, it is ALL McCain’s fault.

And now is when I remind you of this Roll Call article:
Reid Seeks McCain Pledge
. Oh, this is rich:

Fearing a political backlash against Democrats, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) has told the White House that it must serve up support from Republican presidential nominee Sen. John McCain (Ariz.) if it hopes to ensure bipartisan backing for a massive economic bailout package by week’s end.

Reid made his position clear to Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson on Monday night, as well as to his Democratic caucus, which shares many of the GOP’s concerns that the $700 billion bailout has been drafted too hastily and is a risky remedy for an economy on the brink of crisis. Reid, according to Democratic Senate sources, also wants assurances from Senate Republican leaders that an evenly divided, bipartisan group of Senators will pass any legislative fix so his party isn’t left with the burden of doing an unpopular White House’s bidding — again.

“If the administration wants us, we are going to have to go hand in hand or at the end of the day, it’s not going to happen,” Sen. Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) said.

Democratic leaders have privately been eyeing a strategy — to be worked out with the White House and GOP Senate leaders — that would call for an equal number of Senators in each party supporting the final bailout plan. Talks have included splits of 30 Democrats and 30 Republicans or higher to ensure neither party is labeled with being responsible for the costly package.

“Harry Reid would like Republican Senate support, whatever remedy we come up with,” Sen. Mark Pryor (D-Ark.) said. “Right now, there’s significant opposition on the Republican side. Democrats have serious concerns about Paulson’s proposal, but we are willing to work with the Treasury Department and the Fed to come up with the right solution.”

Sen. Bob Casey (D-Pa.) agreed, saying, “we need help from both parties” if a bill is to be completed in the coming days. Casey, who sits on the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee, said the administration needs to do more to get Republicans invested in a solution.

“I think if you look at the Republican side, at the McCain campaign and the leadership, I’m not convinced they are working to get their side to the table,” Casey said. “But the week is young.”

McCain holds the key to such a bipartisan vote, according to Reid, because Republicans are likely to defer to his position on a bill that holds political peril. McCain on Tuesday night joined Democratic presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama (Ill.) in lending qualified support for the $700 billion package, but it remains unclear whether his backing is strong enough and timely enough to persuade the Congressional rank and file. According to a Democratic aide familiar with the discussions, Reid told Paulson this week that “if McCain didn’t come out for this thing and come out for it quickly, it was going to begin bleeding Republican votes.” Democrats “have a very real concern that opposition [from McCain] is going to drive away potential Republican votes,” this aide said.

Well, as they say, “No good deed goes unpunished.” And for reasons that escape me, the media is allowing Reid to get away with this duplicity. It truly does seem like the ultimate case of “Gotcha” – they ask McCain to come back, then do nothing but criticize him for coming back. Meanwhile, the president has to call Senator Obama to get HIM to come back to do the work he is supposed to do. That just falls by the wayside, the man who after 100 days, threw his hat into the Presidential ring, has done blessed little actual WORK in the Senate. He’s like a petulant teenager, who has to be forced into doing the right thing by his parents. But he didn’t stay long, and seemed to only contribute acrimony.

Tell me again why this man is the Democratic nominee?? Really – how in the WORLD did Obama get this far? I am guessing that the first term senator who has $860 million, that’s MILLION, dollars in earmarks in his first THREE years, is having strings pulled by someone, or several someones. Who else would have that kind of hubris? In their first term?? No one of whom I can (if I am wrong, tell me who has asked for more). So now, he is on his way to Oxford, acting like he has always wanted to do these debates, never mind that he REFUSED, flat out REFUSED to do any more than three, despite the frequent requests from the McCain camp. And this is the guy who has so hoodwinked so many Democrats.

After seeing the remarks of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid last night, and the way he mocked and criticized McCain (as he is doing right now on tv – saying the “interjection of presidential politics was harmful” – which he repeated, and said McCain had done nothing but stand in front of the cameras. Um, did he not see OBAMA doing that???) – I remarked that it almost made me embarrassed that I have been a Democrat all these years. My partner responded that this must be what REAL Republicans felt like when their party was taking over by the Right Wing. I have to agree. I see these blatant lies, maneuvers, and traps set by the Democrats for McCain during a time of TRUE crisis for this country, all in an attempt to try and pave the path with gold for their inept selected candidate. This is deplorable. Reid is sacrificing the good of the COUNTRY for the good of the party, and that is simply unacceptable to me. This is not the time. This is NOT the time, Senator Reid. (He just did it again – blamed McCain for everything falling apart.) Here’s the bottom line:

One senior GOP Senate aide said Republican Senate leaders are making the case to their Conference that the ramifications of doing nothing are too great, following through on what was described as Paulson’s sobering assessment of the crisis. This aide said of Paulson’s personal appeal to Senators on Tuesday, “It’s fair to say it convinced a number of Members we needed to act, and we need to act quickly.”

Sen. Judd Gregg (R-N.H.), the ranking member on the Budget Committee, said afterward that Congress cannot address the economic meltdown in a partisan way. It will not get done, he warned, unless Democrats and Republicans work together to craft a solution, and that includes the support of McCain and Obama.

It has to be bipartisan. There’s no choice,” Gregg said, adding, “I would hope that wherever we end up agreeing to here it includes both presidential candidates being comfortable with it(emphasis mine).”

Senator Reid, instead of constantly attacking Senator McCain for “injecting presidential politics” into this matter, shut your piehole, and actually get to work already. You are an embarrassment to the position. Stop blaming EVERYONE else but the Democratic leadership over the past two years, as you have Senator DODD, of all people, NUMBER ONE on the list of 354 lawmakers getting Fannie and Freddie money, standing beside you. Reid, you are a friggin’ hypocrite. Just STOP the BS for ONCE, and do your damn job. And maybe ask your buddy, Biden, to not put any earmarks on the Bail Out bill while you are at it. Get away from the cameras, and go hammer this out. Now. Today. GO.

UPDATED
: Larry Johnson has a great article about “Acorn: The Poison Pill” which details why the Democrats were in such a hurry to get this bill passed. You will not believe what is (was?) in it: Three non-profit organizations, ACORN, National Urban League, and the National La Raza would share 20% – I said TWENTY PERCENT of the profits from the Bail Out bill. I cannot even go INTO all of the issues with ACORN – do a search at No Quarter on ACORN and you will get a ton of articles on it. Not only is Obama connected with them, but they have been charged with voter registration fraud in a number of states now, as well as some other issues that have come up with them. This is OUR money we’re talking about here that CHRISTOPHER DODD (who is the one who came up with this – with Obama, no doubt) wants to GIVE AWAY. And to give away a TON of it to an unsavory organization currently facing legal difficulties. This has gone WAY beyond the pale. WAY beyond it. Is this the sort of thing toward which we can look forward should Obama end up in the White House? I think the answer is an unequivocal YES, and it scares the crap out of me. And infuriates me. They have hijacked the Democratic Party, and I want it BACK!!!

This lifelong Democrat is starting to HATE this political party. Really, truly hate them. I don’t think I’m alone.

Harry Reid thinks Obama’s full time job is to campaign. And Obama is not needed to solve the “biggest financial disaster of our lifetimes!”

McCain would rather be there to help solve this problem before a “depression” or, as our President says, “this sucker goes down”.

    Obama…waiting on a phone call…not even “Present”.

  • MMI

I just heard that unemployment in the finance industry is 4.2% versus 6.1% for the general public. This combined with the 20% of the bailout going to ACORN is why we cannot rush to push through whatever Paulson, Pelosi, Reid, Dodd, and Frank wants.

There are reports that Citicorp is in talk with Wachovia to buy it out. First JP Morgan bailed out Washington Mutual, now Citicorp might bail out Wachovia… no bailout needed. Can someone explain why that is and what it means?

Harry Reid is a 24-karat sack of shit. Period. Always has been, always will be.

The fact that he is actually the majority leader in the US Senate should tell you all you need to know about the sorry state of today’s Democratic Party and who’s running it.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again now: The best single thing that could happen to the Democratic Party would be a McCain win on Nov. 4th. That will give the centrists the impetus they need to retake control and flush turds like Reid, Pelosi, Dean and Brazille from the positions of power that they now enjoy.

Not for nothing but McCain needs to get off his ass and start screaming at the top of his lungs about what the hell is going on. After learning the history of all what has happened to cause this it is amazing that the democrats have the audacity to face America and blame everything on the Republicans. What is more amazing that the low informed voter believes it.

    God help America.

They have to inflate those numbers today. That way if he looses the debate and his poll numbers tank it looks better than it is. Some of these polls have gone out of their way to call a majority of African American’s to look better than it is. Read what Zogby said yesterday. He’s been doing these polls for years. Which by the way they now have McCain at 46% and Obama at 44%

    Released: September 25, 2008
Zogby Poll: McCain Recovers as Contest Takes Dramatic Turns; McCain 46% – Obama 44%

The big shift in the race appears to have come among independent voters, where McCain now leads by nine points, 43% to 34%. In the survey conducted over the weekend, Obama led by one point among independents.

BUT …. I want them to do NO MORE than absolutely necessary and I most certainly do not want the same people who made millions off of creating this mess making more millions helping to clean it up! And I sure as hell do NOT want Democrats handing responsibility for billions of dollars over to left wing front groups like ACORN!!!

As such, the bailout plan as proposed by Frank, Dodd & Schumer was patently unacceptable. Thanks to McCain and the Republicans for sounding the alarm before this turkey was railroaded into law.

The bottom line at the VP level is that Plain is bringing net votes to her ticket while Biden is losing net votes for his. This will be moreso after the VP debate in which all smart money is betting on another Biden gaffe. Obama never had a prayer of winning from the beginning. He is a deeply flawed candidate, lacking any experience and lacking American roots. He is a radical extremist and not even the legitimate nominee. His candidacy teeters on two foundations: he is black; and he expects a bye on being truly vetted and his mysterious past explored. He can say bye bye to the bye in October, and the blackness won’t be sufficient.

  • Darryl

  • Duras

Frankly, I’d rather have a president who understands the fundamental truth that you can’t tax your country’s way to prosperity, no matter who he gets his economic advice from.

And it bears repeating that its the Democrats who blocked Republican attempts at reform of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac in both 2003 and 2005. The film clip of Barney Frank standing in front of the cameras in 2003 and asserting “The mortgage markets are fine. They don’t need any greater regulation that would impair the ability of lower-income Americans to get home loans.” is gonna wind up in a few GOP ads, I’d guess.

The fact is that most Americans are against this bailout, and will appreciate that there’s someone in Washington who stood in the way of this deeply flawed bailout plan being railroaded through Congress.

McCain will win on Nov. 4th. Mark it down.

House Republicans refused to support the Henry Paulson/Chris Dodd compromise bailout plan yesterday afternoon, even after the New York Times reported that Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson got down on one knee to beg Nancy Pelosi to compromise. One of the sticking points, as Senator Lindsey Graham explained later, wasn’t a lack of begging but a poison pill that would push 20% of all profits from the bailout into the Housing Trust Fund — a boondoggle that Democrats in Congress has used to fund political-action groups like ACORN and the National Council of La Raza.

When you know that Axelrod was behind the illegal arrest of Larry Sinclair through Biden, the fraud in the Iowa caucuses, the destruction of pro-Hillary and McCain websites, the manipulation of the MSM, why shouldn’t we think that he is behind fraudulent polling to make the O-turd look good? What scares me the most are the fraudulent voting schemes that they can pull off and the rioting that the One will tacitly encourage if he loses in a close one.

They have deep pockets. Soros is evil, Axelrod is evil. Obullshit is their minion…and worst of all they will have the MSM in their pockets to enrage the idiots. I fear for my country.

Here’s a little information on Zogby:

Zogby International was the most accurate pollster in every one of the last three presidential election cycles, and continues to perfect its telephone and interactive methodologies using its own live operator, in-house call center in Upstate New York, and its own secure servers for its online polling projects.

In the 2004 presidential election, not only was Zogby’s telephone polling right on the money, its interactive polling also nailed the election as well. In 2006, the Zogby Interactive online polling was on the money in 17 of 18 U.S. Senate races (the 18th was within the margin of error) a record of accuracy that is unmatched in the industry – as no other leading firm even attempts to poll statewide political races using an interactive methodology for public consumption.

And here is what he said about McCain winning the election not by a margin, but by a landslide.

If a Democrat speaks, I do not believe it. Instead, I look for what they are hiding. It is obvious that they did not want American citizens to discover that Democrats want 20% of the “bailout money” to go to Acorn, a fraudulent agency. Don’t they get it that they have a lower approval rating than President Bush. Now Reid makes threats to individual Senators and to the American citizen by saying, “Do what we want or no bill.” I say “No bill” and that Democrats are to blame for using bullying tactics. John McCain is right they should post the proposal on the Internet so citizens can read it. That way Americans can be informed and not just manipulated by the MSM and Democrats.

  • Duras

Exactimundo. The majority of people in this country are pissed that there has to be a bailout package put in place and they want to make damn sure that it won’t be any more expensive than absolutely necessary. As such, they are going to respond favoribly to McCain tonight when he tells them why he and the congressional Repubs stepped in to thwart a deeply flawed Democratic bill before it could become law.

Someone should remind Senator Reid that he will be held accountable for his actions and words.

In Fact we should all send him a copy of the Latter-day Saint 13th Article of faith.

13 We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul—We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.

I believe that John McCain is a better example of this admonition than Reid.

The footprint of defeat for Obama is already there in the form of the 18% undecided block. That is very large. If Obama was ever going to win those people he would have won them by now. Obama overshot the target with the fear thing. When people are worried they will vote for something new and the promise of change. But when they get really scared they reject the untested and go with the known and comfortable. I think you can take the polls right now and adjust as follows:

For intentionally bad polling and overweighting democrats – +4 McCain

The Bradley effect “don’t try to intimidate me” effect – +4 McCain

The undecided break – +5 McCain

There’s also October during which, in spite of the msm best attempt, the layers of Obama will be peeled back.

Overall McCain by 10 is a good bet.

The radical left took over your party and suprise your party is now acting like the radical left – divisive, argumenatitive and dogmatic.

Don’t hate your party – fight to fix it. Think of all this as an opportunity rather than a bind.

Just to give you a little history, in the early 60′s the Republicans were in a similar bind. All the right wing nut job organizations like the Birchers almost took over the party. You had people like Buckley and Goldwater lay down the law as to what a Republican is, and took the opportunity to throw them out.

If Obama loses, you will have a similar moment with the Dems and that will be led by Hillary.

I wouldn’t worry about the polls or, particularly, the electoral college. It looks just fine for Senator McCain and Governor Palin (prefer that to Johnny and Sarah but either way, the same people).

Do we not recognize the signs of panic? The Democrats took a majority and threw it down the toilet. The Congress has a lower approval rating than the President but it’s never brought up. Despite what these dolts on CNN and elsewhere keep saying (and the NYTimes, the Obama Campaign Daily Newsletter), the Clinton vote is not moving to Obama and much of that has to do with (1) the way Senator Clinton was treated, (2) basic distrust of Obama, who runs on a record of vapors and twisted, contradictory announcements, not on any actual record of public service, and, yes, (3) the presence of Governor Palin on the ticket.

The Democratic Party lost the last election, and the one before that. Howard (Screaming) Dean rode the moveon.org wave, only to crash on the rocks, along with his campaign. Then the party puts the numbskull in charge of its future? And brings the moveon org into its inner circle?

They’re supposed to be running away with this election, based on their single mantra, McCain = Bush, which simply doesn’t hold water. Yet, they’re not. This race is razor close. And the number of “battleground” states has diminished because McCain’s support in some of BHO’s “rewrite the electoral map” strategy has solidified. A solid 20% or more of Hillary Clinton voters are voting McCain/Palin or not voting. And there is a sizeable “undecided” vote out there (possibly in double digits). They didn’t go to BHO in his primary and my guess, totally on gut, is that they won’t go to him this time, either.

Not only COULD The Anointed One lose this election; he could lose it BIG. Not saying that will happen but it is well within the overall electoral college margin of error in current projections.

This is the career of Dean, Brazile, Pelosi, Reid, certainly Biden (finally) and the rest at stake. If they lose this, they’re done.

So, I’m not surprised at all by their behavior. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Howard treat the nation to another on-camera meltdown if he and his band of loonies blow this thing.

But, one note. As much as some might rush to the defense of Senator McCain and/or Governor Palin, at some point, McCain has to speak up. He has to shelve the honorable guy thing, which is difficult for him, and show us the Navy Pilot and the street-fighter. And, though there might be doubt out there, understandably, I have a suspicion that the Governor from Alaska can take care of herself in a rumble as well.

Both she and John McCain have kept their powder dry and they’ve been insanely patient (I would have gone off by now, so good thing I’m not running). But, the time is coming to turn the cards over, ring the bell, come out swinging, whatever you want to call it.

And, I suspect, that is going to start tonight.

Obama wanted John McCain to show up in Mississippi? After dodging debates and open forums for the entire campaign, Obama now wants a piece of John McCain?

Well, it looks like he’s going to get his wish.

I’m looking forward to it. And, I suspect, so is the fighter pilot.

Now they are after Palin…Hollywood and the media want to destroy her and make her look like a fool. And its getting worse everyday.

If the bailout is really intended to help homeowners, then why not allow for 3 “get out of payment free cards” to allow borrowers to tack a payment to the end of their loan. It would not require drafting new loan docs, and would be a greater help than else anything I can think of.

Obama is constantly on the phone with all of them plus Paulsen and Bernanke, dictating exactly how the bill should read and editing what they dare to suggest. I usually watch Ras, Gallup and SUSA. They do not favor the Repubs right now. I am still waiting to get done with the debates (it looks like the first and the last debates will be about the economy) and see if McCain survives. He has a huge challenge, the moderators are not impartial and the media keeps trying to drum him out of the race. The final stage starts after the debates are over.. and they chew each other up. If they come out of the debates even, it’s up to the opposition research and who can peddle dirt the best.

Nah, the American voters see him as an articulate, intelligent, handsome, post-racial, post-partisan uniter, who will fight for the little guy and bring change to Washington.

That speaks volumes to the stupidity and sheer ignoranceof the low information voters who can’t vote on issues and facts, because to them it is voting for the American Idol President. They are too uniformed to know that um,,,uh…uh.. Obama when speaking extemporaneously is extremely inarticulate. they confuse having a degree with intelligence. Intelligence is the ability to process information, which Obama lacks, resulting in his utter lack of original thoughts and more stammering…um..uh..uh. He is the most partisan and divisive of any candidate of the two major parties to have started in the primaries, but again the low information voter is clueless as to the record of Obama (and any other candidate) so once again American Idol trumps all. Fight for the little guy? When in Obama’s short undistinguished career when he actually did any work has he fought for the little guy. He has always fought for the corrupting influence of the money funding him. He will be change to DC, except he will replace the current crop of crooks with even worse scumbags. Good point. How can he prepare some “zingers” when allegedly he only knows the topics, not the question? Unless he is second-guessing some potential responses and will be ready to launch an approriate opportunity.

Remember when Obama entered the final debate with Hillary? IIRC, he came into that with an air of nochalance, as if he had it all together and not a care in the world. We all know how well that turned out for Obama. His over-confidence could turn out to be his Achilles heel.

Secondly, IMHO, when Obama tries to launch a zinger he looks ridiculous. His “lipstick on a pig” delivery just didn’t do it for me. The man does not know how to be funny. He comes off as being cruel with ridicule.

McCain is a scrappy debater and I am not going to under estimate John’s ability to come back with his own zingers. All John needs is one good comeback that flusters Barack and then it will all be over for BO.

Finally, I am not sure that in the long run debate performance matters. I think it mattered for Hillary because she was so darn good at it.

But look at 2004. Kerry mopped the floor with Bush in the first debate. Bush was elected. And one reason is they turned up the terror alert volume soon after as a distraction and MSM was in Bush’s pocket.

If BO messes up, the MSM will cover for him. If McCain messes up, it could spell trouble. Even if McCain holds his own, the fawning MSM will continue its love affair with Barack.

What I am trying to say, Barack has the wind at his back in this election. No matter how either candidate performs, the MSM is going to spin it in Barack’s favor. You can count on it….

The fact that Obama is so adamant about making this debate and that he spent days prepping for it makes me suspicious.

I do not trust the media, especially after what Charlie Gibson and ABC did with the editing of the Palin interview. Was there ever a day when a prime time journalist would loose his job for that dishonest behavior?

  • c17wife

    First time poster here.
    FTR-partisan Republican and proud.
    Now, to the business.
About that Harry Reid. Since I can’t personally shoot him straight to hell myself, I’d love to see you guys, the rockin’ PUMAs, start making noise to have him deep-sixed out of the ML position.
Hillary needs to have his job. NOW!!!
I said to all my friends back in April/May that Hillary was gonna get screwed out of this nomination. While I would not have voted for her, I’d have been okay with her in charge. I may not agree with her on many things, but I know she would protect us and that she serves a cause greater than herself. The way she was treated by your party and by the media was inexcusable. NEVER again, people. We can never let it happen again.

    McCain/Palin ’08
    Hillary for Majority Leader-NOW!!!

Everytime I believe the MSM can’t sink any lower, they find a way. Why are they wasting time on this? It reminds of of trash talk you see before football games. It’s a gimmick to hype up expectations.

This is Barack’s PC way of saying he is going to open up a can of Whoopass on John McCain. He is trying to sound tough and declare victory before he even walks on the stage.

What a pathetic excuse for a POTUS candidate, and what a pathetic propaganda bull horn the MSM has become for him.

  • acorn hater

Why, oh why, are people and the MSM not talking about this sickening twist?

THE ECONOMY IS IN A CRISIS AND THE DEMOCRATS ARE PORKING UP A RESCUE BILL WITH EARMARKS TO A-C-O-R-N (THE VOTER FRAUD OUTFIT).

NO WONDER THE GOP IS HOLDING FIRM. PASS this to every media outfit you know so that maybe the truth will leak out about why McCain can not agree to such a mess!!!

    http://hotair.com/archives/2008/09/26/the-democratic-acorn-bailout/

    (excerpt:)

Searchlight used to be named Stoplight but when they took the light down, it seemed kinda silly to keep the name.

  • Talk2ThePaw

I think Obambi is somewhat worried that things may change in favor of McCain. I have received 3 emails from Obambi to get an Absentee Ballot and get it mailed in asap. There is no reason for a major push on absentee ballots other than to get (especially women) those votes in before the people have a change of heart.

  • Independently Minded

Watch Obama closely tonight. I will be watching to see if he is wearing an earpiece. Of course you won’t be able to tell if he is wearing one, but people act in a certain way when they have one in their ear. He will have to split his attention between Jim Lehrer and the person talking to him in his ear. Pay close attention to his facial and eye movement. I certainly wouldn’t put it past David Axelrod to do this.

Hey Gazaboy! How’s the weather? Gettin’ hot in that stink filled room you and the rest of the gazageeks sweat in?
Stick your head outside and flip off that Israeli sniper for me will ya?

Yes “street parade.” I agree. The anger is moving from the soles of my feet, up through all of my chakras, and is steaming out my ears.

I am trying hard to calm down and take the words to an old Mose Allison song to heart: “Now I don’t worry ’bout a thing, Cuz I know nothing’s going to be all right.”

Thank you so much for your comment. Welcome. And I hope you will keep posting.

But please don’t call this ‘our’ party — I can assure you, ‘we’ had no part of this debacle and tried very hard to stop it. My husband and I left the Democratic Party over this and registered as Independents, as did many of our friends.

The way you feel about Hillary is the way I feel about McCain. Of course I very much wanted her elected, but I would have been okay with McCain in charge. Obama — no way.

  • athena

Did you all know that Paulson is a liberal democrat? I just found that out. CHummy friends with Barnie Frank. I really don’t trust this bail-out now.

  • Gina

If the Democratic congress, Pelosi, and Reid spent as much time legislating, as they do playing partisan politics and making nasty accusations, our country would be in good shape. They both say that from now on, after we get the 750 Billion, we’ll make sure their is oversight! … then, they attach a multi-billion dollar pork bill for Acorn, to the bailout bill. Pelosi and Reid should be reminded that only 15% of the country give them a favorable rating. Conditions would rapidly improve in America, if Pelosi and Reid would step down, so we could replace them with legislators who represent most of the people … not just 15%.

  • Laura

Whoa!! Look what really happened in that meeting yesterday. Another failure of MSM. Obama strikes again!

  • c17wife

    Ani-

I take your point as to it not being your party.
I am glad to see that you and your husband are now independents.

While difficult, sometimes we have to take a stand. The way the dems ran the primary season was just shameless. That the constituency only had a 50% say in the overall outcome of the nominee is unacceptable. We are a representative democracy and we deserve better. I say we because I believe our country is better served with two healthy political parties keeping each other in check.

I firmly believe the overall health of our republic is in danger and I have great fear and anxiety over what four years of unfettered Barack, Harry, and Nancy would do to our country. I currently reside in Europe. I don’t want “European” ways for the US.

Nikki you have every right to be afraid. I hope you get this post, the evil you feel is very real. I know that many at this site are not believers in the Bible, but just because you do not believe doesn’t make it any less true.Obamanation is the second part of the beast Bush was the first part. The world has to be set up for the antichrist to take over. The gov. is being set up to run all the finacial institutions = none will be able to buy or sell without the mark of the beast. In the last days GOD will give satan domion over the air.= airwaves=tv,radio. Many will be decieved if it were possible even the elect= believers. Obamination says he is a uniter.=you will know a tree by the fruit it bears, a good tree can not bear bad fruit and a bad tree can not bear good fruit. Ask yourself what good fruit has he born.

  • Zeke

Not satisfied with Barrack Obama’s own efforts at self destruction, the Democrats of both houses of Congress have decided to try to screw us over again in the midst of trying to save the nation from them screwing us just the other day.
Its like coming into court to testify at the sentencing of the guy who beat and robbed you, and part of his plea arrangement is that he gets to rob you again so he can pay the fine on the first crime.
    Well, f**k that!
If these fools in Congress think that stick will float, they are nuts! We have watched what we thought was the party of free thought and expression turned into some monster who kicks its wise ones to the side and feeds on its own insanity. We are watching the Democratic party stand fully exposed before us and they cannot see that they are responsible for all of this. Top that off with this ACORN nuttiness they call a bail out which is almost like the last jackal to the carcass and they have self-destructed.
This party has become a rabid animal which needs only one thing:
    To be put down…

  • olga

I am so happy to see other people on here that feel as I do. As a former Dem (re-registered as Ind. this year as I am so thoroughly disgusted) I wondered at first if maybe I was the one who had changed (after the primaries). But as each day passes and this election gets worse and worse, the Dems are getting uglier and uglier, nastier, incendiary, divisive and just plain crude (For the last time I am not a racist because I think Obama is soo wrong in soo many ways!! WTF??)They need to get rid of the whole lot, so I too am voting Repub all the way down the ticket. I am going to a Repub debate viewing party tonight too!

  • Deep Truths

I’ve said this for a while now. Hillary and John are friends and colleagues. Palin could learn the ropes and I think Sarah really admires Hillary for all the sh*t she put up with. The country would move forward with all three mavericks.

  • Talk2ThePaw

They need to do whatever in the way of 527′s NOW. Obambi is sending emails pushing for absentee ballots to be cast asap.

  • Postmaster

thanks for posting the video link, Leisa and everyone that responded.

  • Zeke

I remember a friend of mine telling me years ago (when, under too much cold medicine, I voted for Perot) that he was voting for Clinton because he thought Bill would likely win.
College grad, 1/2 AA, and his best answer was that he thought Bill would win, so he would vote that way because he would then be on the winning side.
Once this debacle by the Dem’s gets legs, Barry’s stock will drop little by little until it reaches a tipping point. Then the landslide will start and the folks who like to bet the winner will “fall in line.”
My gut bet: McCain by 22 on Nov. 2nd
Further, any sitting democrat congressman or senator up for re-election who thought they were safe are now ALL on the bubble.

  • Seattle Moss

    Zeke..
McCain has the momentum to win Bigtime!
I’m not so sure about our M’s tonight.

    See you at the game!

  • c17wife

I admire Hillary for standing firm and staying in that race until the end. I still think she got robbed and she and her supporters deserved a full roll call in Denver. That Barack couldn’t give her that and that he has done NOTHING to help her with her debt is astounding to me. Yet, he expects her to carry his water. Nope. If I were her, I’d politely, in private, tell him to go straight to hell and then I’d find me some blue dogs to help instead.
She deserves better and I do hope to see her put Harry’s balls in a vice and challenge him for ML. And then I would love to see SanFranNan shit herself when she realizes she has to deal with Hillary and Sarah.

  • Deep Truths

Thanks for the real scoop. No wonder Johnny Mac was eager to debate today. He doesn’t have to say anything, but he and Obama knows what went down and he is definitely in Obama head tonight. DRAMA!

  • JR

Hillary and a few other good Dems are fighting for us on the inside, as she and the others are still being held hostage by the media and Obamabots in their party.

  • Sally

thank god some of you finally see what us normal people have had to put up with for the last 40 years…..the lies are atrocious…..teenagers aren’t as big liars as the Democrat fascists have become! Welcome to the club….I wish there were more of you though. The fact that most Americans are swallowing everything the MSM says is scary!…and they even admit to knowing the MSM is biased but they buy into it anyway.

It time for mccain to get nasty….start revealing the fascist party of Pres. Wilson

Its time for history to be uncovered: read “Liberal Fascism”…..the most important book you’ll ever read. Its the key to Keeping our Freedoms and rights safe going into the future…otherwise I promise you: we are DAMNED!

  • SJ

I keep saying am so ashamed at the democrats in this election I really don’t know what the hell has happened to them.

They all seem to lie, distort the truth and will do anything to get this man into the WH, I look at them and ask myself is there not one democrat amongst all of them that will come out and stand up for what is right, they all sit there look at what is going on and remain quiet.

I don’t feel I can ever vote democrat again, at first I thought I would after this election is done and maybe if Hillary runs again but am sorry I want no part of this party anymore.

  • Sassy

    Thanks Amy!
In the last few days, I finally accepted what I have suspected…the only other person in D.C. that is resented as much as Senator Clinton is John McCain!
I do not entirely understand it, but it is probably because their standards show others to be inferior!
I stood with Hillary, now I will stand with McCain…win or lose, I’ll be better for it!

  • Sally

Barney Franks….oh he’s the one that actrually had gay sex with many of his young interns….and no one did/said anything about it.

    Nice

  • candymarl

What’s odd is that no agreement was reached and Obama was there but no one’s blaming him. When Obama took the lead for the Democrats shouting ensued but no one’s blaming him for that either.

Shades of Bush. No matter what goes wrong it’s never Obama’s fault.

Dems are echoing Obama’s assertion that the President must be able to do more than one thing at a time.

The President must also set priorities as well. Debate or financial crisis? Which is more important? Obama’s answer? A debate.

Obama didn’t want to postpone the debate to help solve this problem. He simply wanted to debate. Evidently Obama can’t do more than one thing at a time either.

  • Sally

I wish Mccain would stop acting as everyones noble granddaddy and rip into and expose the fascist punks/dictators of the Dems (e.g. Obama, Reid, Franks, etc)….and their favorite pet industry the MSM and Hollywood.

  • ms mississippi

Agree with hating on Pelosi/Reid, et al. What is going on in Washington? Dems have lost their minds, siding with Bush and loading this corrupt piece of imperial pork with even more pork. No wonder Dems are trying to sneak in millions for Acorn. They want to make sure they can continue voter fraud in future elections.

The only pols standing up for the American people are John McCain, Hillary Clinton and House Repubs. I hope they can stop this corrupt bill in its tracks. If not, we’re screwed.

Folks, our mission is clear. Not only do we have to work for an Obama defeat, we also have to defeat the corrupt and greedy politicians that are destroying our democracy. The greed and corruption are epidemic on Wall Street and in Congress. Every member of the House is up for re-election this year and 1/3 of the Senate. We need to send the majority of them home for good on Nov. 4th. We can do this. Pollsters are saying this election will be determined by the middle. That’s us. Let’s get to work.

  • Sally

Braindead….you’ve been told that you worst enemy is a Conservative…when in fact they are you only life line to Freedom, your Rights and the Constitution. After all, all they ever wanted is to be left alone by government…in what universe is that a Fascist?

  • Talk2ThePaw

Unfortunately since Hillary is not a (concealed) card carrying marxist she stands no chance of advancing in the MDNC (marxist) in it’s present state of decay. And as long as the voter’s return the likes of Reid, Pelosi, Hastings, Kennedy, etal to their seats the party will and cannot change. The only way to reclaim the party is to vote out all of the Senators and Congressmen/women that are voting the MDNC line.

  • Sally

Bill Clinton has been excellent on dishing the truth since January of this year. Just a fantastic job, and inspiring courage thus far.

  • candymarl

If you recall Hillary tried that. The screams of racism were deafening.

Heck, McCain can’t even put a black person and a white person in the same ad without being accused of racism.

Then, if McCain runs ads with only white Americans in them he’s also being racist.

I do think McCain is being overly cautious but maybe that’s why.

neither of them will let Goldman Sachs tell them how to govern. I’m not a tinfoil hat wearer, but I swear I think that’s it.

Harry Reid is a contemptible worm and an embarrassment. Why Obama wants to put Reid’s face on his campaign, I don’t know. But then, why did he trot out Dukakis to play the race card?

Dukakis, Reid, Daschle, all the wimps and whiny losers that made us ashamed to be Democrats — this is the face of the Obama campaign. Buy barf bag futures.
