Acorn Funding Is Out, Sources Say [Updates with more confirmations]

[UPDATE: I've added more confirmations at the end of this story. Among those updates is one report that gives John McCain some rarely reported credit for bringing C.S. to this deal: "It was John McCain [who] brought the House Republicans to the table, enraging the excreble Harry Reid who only wanted McCain back to do the Democrats bidding and causing serious enough problems with [Nancy Pelosi that] she squealed that the Republicans were ‘unpatriotic’. …”]

Original: According to Jennifer Rubin, the fine columnist for Commentary magazine and a recent guest on Nocturnal Warrior’s radio show, the Acorn slush fund is probably out of the bill. From “Who Got What“:

From the reports about the contours of the deal, it appears that the final product is indeed less horrible than it could have been. The ACORN slush money is gone, there is no tax (only the promise that a recoupment plan will be submitted to firms in the future if the taxpayers are out of pocket), there is an insurance aspect and there is greater oversight. The House GOP “got something.” Nancy Pelosi “got something” — a bunch of GOP votes for the bill. John McCain may have gotten something — proof that he prevented the House GOP from being steamrolled, which in turn resulted in a better, bipartisan bill. And Barack Obama got two weeks of attention on the financial crisis.

Monday will be a telling day — the market will open, more polling will be taken, and the bill will be drafted and ready for a vote. If this amounts to the greatest financial triage in history all involved will be remembered fondly. If it is too little, too late, all of them — not to mention every American — will pay the price.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Special thanks to Andy for sending me this great post.

Protein Wisdom responds to Ryan Grim’s obvious distress that this removal will harm affordable housing measures:

I don’t know if Ryan Grim was looking at a different version of the bailout bill than I, but the version I saw stated that not less than 20% of profits realized from any individual profitable sale would go to ACORN and related entities. This WSJ article delineates the links between ACORN and the housing authorities named, who fund the ACORN Housing Corporation.

Possible Change of Heart: Rezko Ready To Talk

Rezko Talked With Prosecutors, May Aid Probe, Sources Say.
Excerpt: Rezko’s possible change of heart—after years of steadfast refusal—has sent ripples through a tight circle of prominent defense attorneys who represent dozens of potential witnesses and targets in the wide-ranging probe.

His cooperation would give prosecutors investigating the governor and his wife access to someone they have described as an ultimate political insider at the center of a pervasive pay-to-play scheme.

    Things are getting heated.

    • Vicki

Look at the wording, typical press spin:

“ACORN outrage removes affordable housing provision”

At the rate they were going, housing would soon be worth zero. Is that affordable enough?

      • tek

Let them say whatever they want, just don’t give our money to Obama’s get out the vote organizations. God, he’s worse than George W. Bush. I wrote my senator and gave them an earful on the ACORN/LA RAZA/URBAN LEAGUE provision of the bill.

I’ll try to find out more than the draft from Pelosi. In the meantime, I found this article from the WSJ from a few days ago. I need help remembering the timeline of these events.

Spencer Bachus, an Alabama Republican House member who initially supported the talks, recalled the meeting boiling over. “Then I started detailing what we wanted in the bill, and that’s when Speaker Pelosi started yelling at me,” he recalled.

  • Free Speech Is Threatened

NObama’s government teat is drying up. NObama worked FOR ACORN as a “community organizer” and then represented ACORN as a defense lawyer/liar when he was with Frank M. Davis’ law firm. Frank is the communist, black supremacy mentor that NObama talks fondly about in his book Dreams of my Father. Frank mentored barak NObama for about 10 years. NObama’s grooming began years ago. Frank was an associate of Obama Senior’s, Thomas Ayers and Percy Sutton. If you dont know about this relationship just search the names.
But, striking funding now for ACORN does not address the clear and present danger America faces: b hussien muhammad obama soetoro.

    McCain/Palin O8

    • ritamary

Obama never worked for Frank Davis. He worked for Allison Davis. Frank Davis was a friend of Obama’s grandfather in Hawaii. He was the communist. Allison Davis is just a run-of-the-mill political crony of the Daley Machine.

      • Freedom Is Threatened by NObama

oh, yes, so sorry. The filth that NObama associates with is so vast that it is difficult to keep it all straight. However, here is the connection to the banking nightmare we are facing. This is the firm where NObama met scum of the earth Meeeeeeeechele “i hate whitey” NObama: Sidley’s enduring tradition of more than 140 years of commitment to client service, quality and collegiality continues to distinguish and define our firm.

In May 2001, the law firms of Sidley & Austin and Brown & Wood merged to become Sidley Austin Brown & Wood, a significant legal power in the international arena. The two firms melded a 235-year combined legacy of service and legal innovation in the U.S. and around the world.

Brown & Wood was founded in 1914 in New York and, over the years, established a preeminent position on Wall Street. Brown & Wood’s practice focused on the international capital markets, serving investment banks and major financial institutions.

Why is it that nothing surprises me with these scumbags?

AND THAT is where the true POTUS is found.
There is no excuse, no reason, no possible “get out of jail free” card for what the Democractic National Convention did this year. There is no paying back that can be done. There is no “making up” that can make up for what took place. This is THE reason our country is beginning to crumble. The greatest, the wisest, the most qualified, the most capable and the best candidate was ignored, slandered, beat down, shoved around, treated like dirt and finally forced to allow the coronation of “he who would be king” or face extermination from her party or worse.
We NEED Hillary Clinton, we need her as much as we need air, water, food, clothing and shelter. We need her as much as we need life itself. If our country is to continue past this presidential term, Hillary Clinton is the best hope of getting us there, barack barry hussein obama soetoro represents the absolute demise of our country. The DNC chose barry over the voter’s choice. In a legitimate convention roll call, he would have lost. In a legitimate primary, he DID lose, only with the illigitimate elements for this illigitimate child did he garner enough delegates through his strong arm tactics and set up caucuses. The very fact the Hillary Clinton is not the person who is vying for the office of POTUS at this moment against McCain is the reason the democratic party will fall, and it most definitely will fall. Democrats will remain and they will regroup, but the democratic part of 2009 will not look like the democratic party of 2007-2008, perhaps it will go back to the party it was or perhaps it will come out better, but there is one thing obama has changed, he has changed a LOT of democrats into republicans and a LOT are ardent democrats into democrats who are now ready to reform their OWN party to prevent the likes of him ever happening again.
        Yes, I rambled.

Yes we do need a game changer…be it the ” whitey tape” or the words out of Rezko’s mouth.
It’s getting very late in the game folks lets go get ‘em….

      • http://obamafact.blogspot.com/ Mel

It is early in the game still, in 2004, the Swiftboat gamechanger occurred 10 days prior to thvoting and Kerry at the time held a +17 point lead up to that point in time.

Timing in politics is everything and the GOP are masters of timing.

        • http://deleted YES HRC

Absolutely, they are the masters at it. The Republicans are far too upbeat. They’re waiting for the right time.

          • http://deleted YES HRC

            • Ellen D

              • http://noquarterusa.net/ SusanUnPC

Good point, Ellen. Obama’s campaign managers must be aware that the 527s as well as the GOP have some damning revelations they can put out, and that the 527s and/or GOP will do it if they need to.

To MEL: Re Kerry up 17% — I can’t remember that wide a margin, but I know you know your stuff. That’s wild.

But I do think that the Swiftboat material came out far earlier than 10 days before the election. I know because we were watching and showing a documentary about John Kerry’s service in Vietnam at least a month before, in large part because of the Swiftboat attacks.

I don’t know how many different ways I can say.

People that push this line are NOT helfpul to the cause, and people that blindly nod along to the fantasy make it worse.

We cannot fix this until everyone realizes that there IS a problem.

This race is slipping away from us, and the only chance to save it is for people to stop spouting nonsense and deal with reality. We have to fix this in reality.

          • sowsear

I only worry about Rove. Was he only pretending to help the Dems, trying to eliminate the threat that HRC could win, is he actually for Obama, is he trying to foment race riots if McCain wins so Bush can declare martial law, or is he waiting for the right moment to help McCain?
Right now we need the game changer or we’ll all be in the gulag.

            • Jules

I “think” Rove is a die-hard Republican. Though it truly is weird what he did to help the Dems get Hillary out of contention, I don’t think he would have done it if there was not some huge scandal waiting to come out about Obama. Just my opinion.

        • Jackarooty

Thank you! I’ve been getting nervous too. I’m giving McCain 4 years.

It was only 10 days before election day in 04 that the Swift Boat ads started?

There is so much more to unload regarding Bambi than there was on Kerry.

          • newengland

The swift boat ads started in August. Sheesh. You folks are so off the wall you can’t get basic facts right.

            • Zorro Astor

Actually they started even earlier. In May. How about YOU get your facts right and stop criticising others?

              http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swift_Vets_and_POWs_for_Truth

SBVT first went public with a May 4, 2004, press conference declaring opposition to Kerry. When the press conference garnered little attention, the organization produced television advertisements. On August 5, 2004, SBVT began airing a one-minute television spot in three hotly contested states in the ongoing presidential election.

‘Off the wall’? You define it by your rude behaviour.

              • Clarence

Well, with all due respect – it’s time to stop being polite.

People spreading this nonsense about everything being fine ARE HURTING THE CAUSE.

People need to wake up and realize this election is getting away from us PRECISELY because too many people are engaging in this fantasy world about Kerry being “up” in 2004. HE WASN’T. Bush had a lead that wasn’t much bigger than Obama’s by this point. The rats with their dirty tricks whittled it down a bit, but the key was BUILDING THAT CUSHION.

We do not have that this year. WE ARE LOSING.

We cannot fix that until everyone gets it pounded through their thick heads!

You cannot fix a problem until everyone is clear there IS a problem.

Attack me all you want for laying it out so bluntly – I don’t care. I have one goal for the next 5 weeks – and I cannot achieve that goal if too many people are sitting back saying everything will be fine.

            • Clarence

              Exactly.

A million threads. How many calls could have been made in place of the meaningless atta boy comments? We’ve become the bizarro Kozkidz – everyone coming here wanting to jump in the echo chamber. I spent 3 hours phone banking for McCain yesterday at a GOP office in Indiana. I couldn’t find a McCain office. There was me and ONE OTHER PERSON, who couldn’t even get me a list…and I had called ahead on FRIDAY to make sure there would be work to do!

I ended up surfing the internet until I finally found a source for a phone list into Iowa.

I’ve been volunteering for Presidential elections for more than 30 years – and I haven’t seen things this disorganized since the 70s.

The scattershot crap needs to stop, too.

              A zillion threads.

Exactly. Why do you think everyone except the zombies ignore the KOZKIDS? BECAUSE THEY HAVE A ZILLION THREADS TOO! When you draw distinctions between you and your opponent by throwing everything under the sun against the wall to see what sticks – you render yourself ineffective.

ummm the time for October surprises is in October, hence the name. Obama won’t be President, it’s not a problem, it’s not going to happen.
Even if he manages to steal the election ala his carbon copy bush, he won’t serve. Some right wing radical whacko will do the unthinkable. The worst thing about that is it would martyr him. I prefer seeing him lose, letting all the information come out over time, seeing him drummed out of politics and never heard from again after his significant loss to McCain.

        • mimi

I don’t think they should wait that long. After all, Bush was an incumbent.

Also, why is Palin getting killed? I don’t see where she’s made such a public gaffe. The msm, the Botheads, the liberal feminisits, the comedians, the tabloids have all ganged up on her similar to the way they did Hillary. (I imagine she now knows how it feels.) Where’s the Palin truth squad?

          • Clarence

            See?

This is exactly what I’m talking about.

I saw those interviews with cupie doll Couric – and they were NOT good! I was willing to chalk up the Gibson interview as just an off night, but we’ve got a problem here.

I refuse to just stick my head in the sand say all this talk about Palin is all MSM. She hasn’t looked good.

She damn sure better be spending this entire week in long, long, and thorough debate prep.

We shoulda gone with Romney. Michigan would toss-up, if not lean McCain. Nevada would be locked up. New Hampshire would be locked up. With the money Romney spent in Iowa, we wouldn’t be getting blow out there. Florida wouldn’t be looking a lot closer than it should.

At this point, it is only my hatred of Omoron that keeps me going because as crappy as the McCain campaign has been, they don’t DESERVE to win.

        • NHDem

            In fact, Fred, I have.

All fall. I’ve spent every weekend since early August volunteering – and I see things getting worse, not better.

This weekend was damn near the last straw for me. I traveled to Indiana to visit some family – and planned to spend some volunteering at the local party office (see, I tried to find a McCain office… but there ARE NONE IN THE WHOLE DAMN STATE!). I called the office and told them I’d be available all afternoon on Saturday. They said sure – come on out. I got there, and there was ONE PERSON at the office… and he didn’t even have a phone list! I had to go online and gets a list myself – of IOWA numbers… which I had to call on my own phone because the yokel manning the office wasn’t sure if they COULD even call Iowa from an Indiana office.

And all I got out of calling Iowa is a realization that Iowa is gone. Done. Over. This was a GOP list I got (I know someone who used to be a county party chair) – and on this list of calls to supposedly reliable Republican voters? less than half voting McCain. Almost a full THIRD of this REPUBLICAN list were actually voting Obama.

I’m not a newcomer to stuff like this. I know how phone banking goes – and I also know how it should go when you’re working off of a party list.

A lot of this is frustration, I admit – but I’ve been around long enough and done this stuff enough in my life to know when we’re in trouble… and I’m here to tell you, Fred: We. Are. In. Trouble.

We cannot fix that until take a sober look at the situation and realize we’re in trouble. Only then we will have any chance to fix this.

You’ve peaked my interest. You have been doing this a long time. So what is it you would lilke to see McCain supporters do at this time?
              More phone calls?
              More emails?

Plus I don’t believe a true ‘reliable’ Republican is going to stretch far enough to vote OBAMA. I’m not buying this either.

Democrats have an easier time moving to McCain because he’s really more of an independent. It’s just not going to happen the other way around.

                • Snickers

You know Ferd, Clarence might actually be telling the truth. I haven’t seen his name here before, but that doesn’t mean he is lying. I’ve been begging people in my state to vote McCain/Palin. I just talked to my niece who was thinking of sitting it out. Unfortunately my state is in the solid blue category, Oregon, but I’m trying really hard to turn it red.

It’s a shame that McCain is being blamed for the economic meltdown. I don’t think Palin is the cause of these wide swings whatsoever.

Is nice to see a completely inappropriate candidate take the lead in the pols. One thing good may come if Obama wins the presidency. We will be able to save billions of dollars in education all across this country. Once high schoolers find out that this underqualified candidate won the presidency, they will realize they do not need anymore to graduate from high school to be able to serve and work in any field or career of their choice. The school system can end children education in 8th. grade and they could even begin college at 14. Colleges can also graduate people in one year. Saving three years of expense and partying. A master’s degree could take only three months and a Ph.D the better part of 2 weeks.

      • http://purplechiten.wordpress.com Chiten

cool, I’ve been putting off my Ph.D. because of the time it takes. 2 weeks isn’t bad.
Will it still count after the kool-aid wears off?

what happened to that comment you made the other day about a female staffer in the Obama Chicago office? Were you able to verify?

    • http://purplechiten.wordpress.com Chiten

“NeedProof”, don’t panic. There is no need to. This is but one weekend in a long process. Just as a stopped clock is right twice a day (or once if it’s digital with the am/pm), Obama will have a point in time when he is up, but it will quickly slip away, just as it always does. At the moment, people are very afraid, when fear sets in, they follow the person who can speak the loudest and promise the most, even if they are empty promises. As soon as the dust settles and people regain their composure, they will quickly see what the dust obscured and will realize that not only does obama not have the answers to the problem, he was part of the creation of the problem. They will see that only after McCain arrived, did the real bipartisan work begin. They will see that McCain rallied the republicans and convinved them to work WITH the democrats, never a small feat, and without him, there would be no sunday afternoon announcement or plan to address the emergency.
Don’t be afraid, obama will give his own game changer because he is an inadequate, unqualified candidate. His hoof and mouth disease will always bite him in the a$$.
That aside, a revelation from those who have the information is more than welcome and would be just another nail in obama’s political coffin. This weekend’s work will spell the end of Obama, he just doesn’t know it yet.
Many things can happen in 37 days. In 40 days, God flooded the entire world. In 40 days, those waters receeded. In only 6 days, the world was created, it can be destroyed in one. (for those who follow Christian thought)
For the non-religous, a woman has an entire cycle in 28 days. The moon goes completely around the earth in 28 days (not just a coincidence). An entire week comprises only 7 days, a month is 30 days(average) and we know how much time a month can hold when we are anticipating something. 37 days is a very long time for things to go wrong and a very long time to play hide and seek. At the same time, it’s a very short time for an empty suit to materialize into a real candidate.
We have 37 days left before the election. I’m not worried about what McCain or the republicans will do, they will do their jobs. This will hinge on what obama does to himself. With 37 days, no opportunity for a vacation to “hide from the press” and nobody left to protect them since they are all under the bus, he’s on his own and he knows that HIS OWN HANDS are the worst place anyone could ever be.

We’re getting killed on the Atlantic coast. The midwest is slipping away – I called into Iowa this morning, using a Republican list – and if my 100 calls are any indicator, Iowa is gone. I participated in another phone bank into Minnesota, again, using a Republican list – not encouraging.

I’m working my butt off to try to turn this around, but we’re getting NO HELP from the campaign.

McCain needs to dump Schmidtt and Davis and bring in Rove, because it’s pretty obvious these two doofuses cannot do anything right.

        • mimi

If you are calling Republicans and their attitude is one of indifference then that means that the Repubs are willing to throw this election, regroup and in 4 years come back swinging. They’re are willing to sit back and let 0bama be a disaster as president, so that the Republican Party can then dominate the WH to infinity.

If that’s the case, then there’s nothing we can do.

        • Jules

John McCain needs to stop this suspension nonsense and GET BACK OUT ON THE TRAIL!

I read an opinion on why he “supsended his campain” that made me say “a-ha”. It said that he made a huge deal about going back to Washington because he was trying to shine the national spotlight on this bailout/rescue bill. With so much press attention, Congress (Democrats) would have a hard time slipping through the shady stuff (such as the Acorn slush fund). THAT’S WHY THEY DIDN’T WANT HIM THERE AND OBAMA STAYED FAR AWAY UNTIL BUSH LED HIM BACK BY THE EAR. Whether this was McCain’s intention or not, I think the country owes him some gratitude, because this goal was accomplished. Remember McCain puts “country first”. I for one respect what he’s done and I think the financial magnitude of this mortgage crisis is not fully understood by most. Even Obama is mentioning “Depression” and he can’t postpone his campaign for 3-5 days? HIGHLY INAPPROPRIATE in my opinion. But then again, what expertise would Obama have to offer anyway–NONE.

          • Ferd McBerfle

            Your analysis is spot on.

    • Zorro Astor

If that were only true…BO has money sources everywhere…and he will lie, cheat and abuse others to get what he and his brain Axelrod want…

Why are people so easily fooled? Are people that stupid? Obama and Axelrod seem to use that as working hypothesis.

      • http://purplechiten.wordpress.com Chiten

        yes, people ARE that stupid.
A PERSON can be smart. They can listen, they can reason, they can make decisions, but PEOPLE, as a group, are stupid to the core. They are lemmings who will follow whoever has the flute. (yeah, I know the pied piper led rats, not lemmings).
PEOPLE are dangerous, that’s why we can’t deal with PEOPLE. We need to deal with a PERSON on a one to one basis. For every PERSON we speak to, that PERSON will speak to another. If we speak to 10 PERSONS, and each of them speak to 10 more and so on, THEN we will get somewhere. The MSM targets PEOPLE and the fears of PEOPLE and get them all in a frenzy. PEOPLE don’t vote, an individual PERSON votes and that individual person, without the MSM or all the other people in the voting booth with them will make a choice based on what that PERSON thinks, not what PEOPLE think. This is one of the truisms we must consider and use in our favor.
I’m no longer interested in campaigning FOR McCain, my only focus and my only actions are now to campaign AGAINST obama in every way, shape and form that I can. I don’t care who wins, I just care that Obama LOSES. ANY PERSON on the Presidential ballot would be better than this one “person” Barrack Hussein (barry soetor) Obama. I intend to ensure that every person I come into contact with is well aware of that fact.

Why else would they be here?

            Two possible reasons.

            1. Because they’re scared shitless Soetoro is not going to establish the 4th Reich after all. Everytime something goes wrong with that campaign they come in like mad. If something really goes really wrong they stay away because they’re shaking with fear. But slight dips and setbacks drive them here.

            2. Because Axelrod is conducting ‘psychological warfare’ and he pays them to do it.

‘Undecided’ implies a modicum of decency these people do not possess. ;)

    REINVEST, REIMBURSE, REFORM

    IMPROVING THE FINANCIAL RESCUE LEGISLATION

Significant bipartisan work has built consensus around dramatic improvements to the original Bush-Paulson plan to stabilize American financial markets — including cutting in half the Administration’s initial request for $700 billion and requiring Congressional review for any future commitment of taxpayers’ funds. If the government loses money, the financial industry will pay back the taxpayers.

3 Phases of a Financial Rescue with Strong Taxpayer Protections.
    • Reinvest in the troubled financial markets … to stabilize our economy and insulate Main Street from Wall Street

    • Reimburse the taxpayer … through ownership of shares and appreciation in the value of purchased assets

    • Reform business-as-usual on Wall Street … strong Congressional oversight and no golden parachutes

CRITICAL IMPROVEMENTS TO THE RESCUE PLAN.
Protection for taxpayers, ensuring THEY share IN ANY profits

    • Cuts the payment of $700 billion in half and conditions future payments on Congressional review

    • Gives taxpayers an ownership stake and profit-making opportunities with participating companies

    • Puts taxpayers first in line to recover assets if participating company fails

    • Guarantees taxpayers are repaid in full — if other protections have not actually produced a profit

    • Allows the government to purchase troubled assets from pension plans, local governments, and small banks that serve low- and middle-income families

Limits on excessive compensation for CEOs and executives

New restrictions on CEO and executive compensation for participating companies:

    • No multi-million dollar golden parachutes

    • Limits CEO compensation that encourages unnecessary risk-taking

    • Recovers bonuses paid based on promised gains that later turn out to be false or inaccurate

    Strong independent oversight and transparency

Four separate independent oversight entities or processes to protect the taxpayer

    • A strong oversight board appointed by bipartisan leaders of Congress

    • A GAO presence at Treasury to oversee the program and conduct audits to ensure strong internal controls, and to prevent waste, fraud, and abuse

    • An independent Inspector General to monitor the Treasury Secretary’s decisions

    • Transparency — requiring posting of transactions online — to help jumpstart private sector demand

Meaningful judicial review of the Treasury Secretary’s actions

Help to prevent home foreclosures crippling the American economy

    • The government can use its power as the owner of mortgages and mortgage backed securities to facilitate loan modifications (such as, reduced principal or interest rate, lengthened time to pay back the mortgage) to help reduce the 2 million projected foreclosures in the next year

    • Extends provision (passed earlier in this Congress) to stop tax liability on mortgage foreclosures

    • Helps save small businesses that need credit by aiding small community banks hurt by the mortgage crisis — allowing these banks to deduct losses from investments in Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac stocks

    • http://villamedia.wordpress.com/ RepublicanChick

Obama and his Truth Squad know that something must be coming. Hence, his panic to use laws in several states to squash any “misleading” ads that will be shown on TV.

If Tony Rezko works with federal prosecutors and sings like a bird, I would say he has handed the Republicans a major victory. Although, time will tell.

There are many 527 ads that have been run, but you can only view them on YouTube these days due to the fact that Obama will sue or use local laws against anyone that shows them.

This is stifling freedom of speech in this country.

It is time to fight back!

  • IndianaDem

ACORN was probably never really in–at least to the extent that rumors suggested. We should all understand how these things work by now: Opposing factions always propose more than they have any actual expectation of realizing, then negotiate toward a middle ground where everybody gets some of what they wanted.

    • Free Speech Is Threatened

ACORN was in under the “Capital Magnet Fund” provision in the first draft.

I actually feel a certain sympathy for Sarah Palin’s situation. She’s an interesting and personable lady with many admirable traits, has done well on behalf of the state she governs, and likely has a future that goes beyond what she’s already accomplished. But they’ve thrown the poor woman into the deep end of the pool before she was ready for it and started swimming lessons after she hit the water.

You never know about those debates. I like Joe Biden, but he has been known to suddenly enter a room wearing his underpants on his head.

      • Shiloh

Some of what you say about Palin is true for Obama, just not the sympathy part.

      • Hope Floats! Flush Twice!

Sarah Palin’s fine, and she will adapt to interviews with a DC / NY press corps out for her blood. Those gotcha moments will become easier to handle with more experience, but she knows how to debate already.

        • McHope

          Right,
The media has the power to make any person appear the way they want them to. Joe Biden’s interview with the same person, Katie Couric, the same week was by far more disasterous. That gets left unreported; and Couric was not even trying to ask him any tough questions.
Not only that, they don’t even show preplanned interviews with Biden, there simply is no interest for it. That says something in and of itself.

Gov Palin did answer the question about Sen McCain’s reform agenda. She cited the bill he co legislated to regulate Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Couric then wanted Palin to cite other legislation McCain had worked on specifically in relation to economics. She pushed and pushed. What Palin should have done was spin, like they all do, right back to the original point that McCain was ahead of this situation by saying what is important now is the struggling economy and McCain had the foresight and judgement to deal with it. She will learn how to redirect the conversation.

Right now, her flaw is she is answering from the perspective that the interviewer sees McCain as she does, as an honorable man with good judgment. It doesn’t seem to occur to her that they are truly out to get her and McCain.
Of course the pursed lips and squinted eye face of Couric’s should have give her a clue.

Biden’s been stumping all over the country and stating policy and opinions in direct conflict with Obama, but Palin is required to know every peice of legislation John McCain has read for 35 years.

God knows we shouldn’t hold our breath and wait for Obama/Biden interviews of that nature.

      • http://purplechiten.wordpress.com Chiten

She may surprise the MSM by taking to swimming like…a duck takes to water. Maybe the deep end of the pool will bring out the best in her and leave them eating their hats in response.

        • http://purplechiten.wordpress.com Chiten

I’d like to add, this “little lady” has been thrown in the deep end time after time after time in her life and sometimes dove right in on her own. She has come out well each time, there is no reason to believe she won’t do the same. Just because she’s from a small town, a low population state and isn’t a “citizen of the world” does not make her a “stupid hick”. Some of the greatest minds I have ever encountered have been small town folks who aren’t in the rat race but could easily take it on if they had the desire to do so.
Some people live in small towns because they HAVE to, most live in small towns because they WANT to. Sarah Palin is not an ignorant hick,…. she only plays one TV for the MSM’s enjoyment. We may see something in the VP debate that we weren’t expecting at all.
Throwing her in the deep end may be akin to the MSM thining they are teaching Michael Phelps to dog-paddle. There could be a big, big surprise for them and for all the palin-haters out there.
She’s the mother of 5 children, one a special needs child, has served on the city council when she saw that things needed to be changed, then as mayor when she saw that things needed to change, then as Governor when she saw things needed to change, now, she’s up for VP and things need to change. I’d say she’s right where she’s supposed to be and will NEVER back down from any fight of any kind. She doesn’t know how to “surrender” and it’s not an option in her character.

Palin could also point out that the MSM seems to want to make their star witnesses against her in troopergate two known wife beaters, and tie that around the MSM neck.

She should work her way down a long list of corruption of BO and Biden…with full outrage.

    • newengland

Right. Because former Mayor Palin has such strong credibility of being pro-women after folks found out that she wanted to charge rape victims for evidence collection after Biden’s Violence Against Women Act and state legislation prohibited it.

      • McHope

Are you completely out of your mind?
There is no, absolutely no, evidence of a single rape victim paying for a rape kit in Wasilla. Not ONE!
Not only that, if anyone were ever to have been charged, it would have been directly from the hospital, not the city or state.
You should really be ashamed of yourself for pushing such utter trash and using the issue of violated women to make a false point.

Maria Comella, a McCain-Palin campaign spokeswoman, said Palin “does not believe, nor has she ever believed, that rape victims should have to pay for an evidence-gathering test.” To suggest otherwise, she said, is a “misrepresentation of her commitment to supporting victims and bringing violent criminals to justice.”

              • http://purplechiten.wordpress.com Chiten

I looked up the stats on Wassilla,
From 1996-2002, when Palin was mayor, there were a total of 5 rapes (in the entire 6 years) and none of them required the victim to pay for the rape kit.
Look it up yourselves if you want, but it’s in public record for all to see.
None of the 5 rape victims during the two terms that Palin served as mayor of Wasilla paid for their own rape kits. (none of the FIVE of them in a six year period, none of the FIVE total rapes. FIVE of them, all FIVE. Did I mention there was a total of FIVE?)

          • McHope
      • Freedom Is Threatened by NObama

hey, KOOL AID KID, most states require payment for the rape kits.

        $100 to McCain/Palin

        • newengland

No they don’t. It was prohibited by federal law, the law championed by Joe Biden.

Congress in 2005 passed a law requiring states to provide rape exams free of charge or reimburse victims for the costs, says Knecht, whose group supported the provision.

“The reason we passed the legislation was that we saw it was prevalent enough to be a pretty considerable problem,” Knecht says. “There are no other victims of crime that end up being billed for evidence collection.”

The Senate version of the legislation that included the rape-exam provision was sponsored by Sen. Joe Biden of Delaware, the Democratic vice presidential nominee. Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama was one of 58 co-sponsors; Republican presidential nominee John McCain was not.

          • http://purplechiten.wordpress.com Chiten

Ummmm…..Palin’s Mayorship ended in 2002, the bill was in 2006. It was four years AFTER she was no longer mayor.
Additionally, none of the FIVE people who were raped there during her term as mayor were required to pay for their own rape kit.
Look at actual numbers and actual facts instead of talking points and ideas. Facts trump ideas every time. Dates kinda help things out too since the bill was 4 years after she was no longer mayor.

Don’t be fooled into thinking that this development changes any of the fraud that ACORN is currently administering in every battleground state.

THAT should be our main focus. It has to be stopped.

There should be an emergency federal investigation of ALL ACORN sponsored voter registration efforts before Nov. 4.

    • IndianaDem

Indiana requires positive ID before you can cast your vote. Other states should have done the same. This seems like a basic and entirely reasonable requirement to me.

Registrations should also be cross-checked using the E-Verify database to eliminate non-citizens. It wouldn’t remove all who shouldn’t be voting, but it might nail a lot of them.

Pelosi and company are pushing to tax companies getting a bailout IF the taxpayers don’t recoup their investment.

So, government is buying bad debt from failing institutions which probably should go bankrupt and get bought up some other company. Then, if these companies continue to perform poorly, government will tax them? What is there to tax at that point? I am not buying this BS. No one in Congress is looking out for us taxpayers.

    • wodiej

We need to let these companies sink or swim. There are plenty of financial institutions that are solid and stable. Lending may freeze up a bit but only for a short time. Lowering the corporate tax rate would be a good start. And the $700 billion-anyone over 18 who works and pays taxes get $100k each after tax. Think this wouldn’t stimulate the economy? People would pay off bills. This would give the banks more lending credit, people would have extra money to purchase new cars, home improvements, vacations, education needs, clothing, and all kinds of other things. This demand would boost automakers and various other manufacturing and tourism. This bail out is just rewarding bad behavior. NO, NO, NO-bail out the taxpayer.

The real crisis we are facing is the lack of trust in the system. No one, including me, believes anything the MSM or the Democrats say or do. The MSM, including the New York Times and the Washington Post skew the news towards the selected one and it is all favorable. If they can trash Governor Palin, or the Republicans, they will do so. The Democrat’s sham of a convention and their selection of their choice has led to the DNC and Democrat Congressional “leaders” no longer having any resemblance of any credibility. They turn a deaf ear to their 9% approval rating and plunge on ahead as if everything was “business as usual”. Why would any sane person believe anything they say? The bailout will not stabilize the financial system unless people trust that it will work.

If Democrats add pork and money winds up being given to the ACORN group that helped create the problem and helped destabilize the system, the bailout will not work. Saying that McCain had no part it a bill is just more of the same nonsense they have been promoting for some time and increases the lack of trust. No amount of posturing on Nancy Pelosi’s or the selected one is going to change the lack of trust.

The poll swings are not even believable. 122 million people voted in the last action. To take a poll of some 1000 to 5000 people and say what the country is thinking is a bit bizarre.

If Palin bombs then it won’t matter what happens in the last 2 debates this thing will be over. he needed to let the truth be told before Palin had a chance to debate. i agree that mccain missed a golden opportunity to lay blame on obama and dodd and frank for freddie/fannie. but there is supposed to be a debate on the economy so maybe he can say it then.

      • http://purplechiten.wordpress.com Chiten

even though the economy was foremost on everyone’s mind, the debate was supposed to be about foreign policy. Through this crisis, they took away the debate that would have been and changed it to a debate that should have come later.
This debate should have focused on Foreign Policy just like it was supposed to. By allowing the economy to take center stage, they altered the basic rules of the presidential debates and it caused people’s fear to not be able to decipher the outcome. During the debate on the economy, they need to dedicate the same amount of time to foreign policy that they allowed the economy to take up during this debate.
Everyone knows obi has NO FOREIGN POLICY and the crisis was actually a blessing for him, and for him alone.

    • tnp

I agree that this has been a terribly run campaign by McCain. His choice of Palin, in particular, was terrible. He should have picked someone who had a greater understanding of the economy – someone like Romney. I think it is too late now. McCain is not fighting back and will fall further and further behind in the polls – particularly after Palin’s debate. He has lost all momentum now and I don’t think he can regain it. I read elsewhere that McCain is just losing energy and becoming another Bob Dole.

But I wouldn’t have voted for him if he chose Romney, and I know a few others who feel the same.

McCain will win. He did great at the debate. When push comes to shove, the majority of voters will not vote for Obama. He’s too inexperienced, too far to the left, and too many bridges were burned with Hillary supporters.

  • jrterrier

i’m not sure this is very helpful to john mccain. the american people oppose this bail out 100 to 1. if mccain had opposed it, the polls would instantly change and he would be ahead by 20 points.

    • IndianaDem

Yeah, but McCain opposition might not have played so well with the voters if an economic disaster followed a few days later.

I think the American people are registering opposition to the bailout because they rightfully hate the situation that required it. I believe it’s needed, but when my congressman sent me an e-mail survey I responded that I opposed it.

They’re getting the important message that Americans are very angry, and believe they screwed up big-time.

  • nycdave

ZOGBY HAS OBAMA LEADING 47% TO 45% TOO CLOSE TO CALL HE SAYS.

He said Obama narrowly won the debate. THis is truly unbelievable. How can anyone honestly beieve he won that debate. Mccain didn’t knock him out but he sure as hell didn;t lose it.

Pelosi is going to be live on FOX. Quick, everybody, warm up your TIVO’S!

Just thought of something…if Pelosi’s bunch wrote the initial legislation, and Obama spoke at the White House about the legislation on Thursday…then wouldn’t his position already have been set in stone?

I wish that someone had smuggled their blackberry into the room, I’ll bet that meeting was interesting!

  • Calpurnia

The recent polls are demoralizing, but I am aware that many pollsters are weighting to an unrealistic extent in favor of Dems.

So — Question: Does anyone “on the ground” in any Battleground states have a “feel” for which way Independents and also the Joe Sixpacks will vote? Especially in states ike PA OH VA CO etc?

I live in a red state, so I can’t tell. Today I called some elderly Western PA very loyal lifelong blue collar Democrat relatives to see how they are voting this year. SHOCK: they were surprisingly cryptic and evasive! Would not tell me when I asked “How are you voting this year? How is your community voting, given that most are Dems?” Normally, they would have told me the Dem ticket, without batting an eye. Today, they all told me that they “hadn’t decided yet” and were “going to decide when they got to the polls:. Hmmm. That is fishy to me. They’ve never acted that way before… what’s up with that? Are they undecided because they don’t want to admit that they aren’t voting for the Dem ticket this time?

I would love to hear what any one thinks about this matter — what do you think?

McCain is increasing his unfavorable ratings among Independents (according to the latest Hotline tracking poll) while Obama is picking up support from Independents. Obama now leads McCain among Independents by a 52-29% margin. Last week McCain had a 40-39% lead.

      • Ferd McBerfle

Wild swings like that indicate faulty polling processes. I don’t buy that junk.

    • Kato

I think they’ve probably decided against voting for BO, but don’t want to admit it. I also think there are many, many people like this. As much as technology and the ability to spread/learn information has improved, I’d bet this election’s polls will be some of the worst in years. The polls would still probably be counting the folks you’re talking about as voting for the Dems, but they won’t…there’s too much at stake to put junior in office.

    • Shiloh

I’m in Ohio and there is no doubt that Ohio goes McCain by a much larger margin than in 04. In fact, I think the polls are so skewed right now that Obama will lose in any state where he doesn’t have a 10 point lead right now. All the states that are now being called swing states will go to McCain, wait and see.

    • ritamary

A small group of elderly Democratic ladies in my apartment complex do not like Obama at all. They never vote Republican and were shocked when I said I am voting for McCain. Obama shouldn’t be blamed for what Ayers did when the candidate was 8 years old, as Obama says. By the time the two met, Ayers was a University of Illinois professor in Chicago, deeply involved in education reform, a topic of interest to Obama.

And, certainly, voters should care less about the past than we should about how the next president plans to fix America’s shamefully broken education system, the economy, international relations and, you know the rest.

I think as a voter you should be concerned about the past. Barry’s past associations are telling.

      • McHope

Obama wants no focus on his past, besides one issue.

When it comes to National Security, of course. All Obama wants to focus on there is his magnificent staged speech against the war in what 2003?

As McCain said the next president won’t be dealing with whether or not we went into Iraq but how do we proceed from here.

All other words were not what he meant and all other people were not who he knew.

        • Docelder

Well before he gets credit for ” right” about Iraq. We should know why he was against invading Iraq in the first place. Saddam was snubbing the U.N. and everybody believed Saddam had weapons of mass destruction… including Saddam’s own generals. So, why was he against the war in Iraq exactly? Being right for the wrong reasons is nothing to brag about… it’s just “dumb luck”.

  • http://deleted YES HRC

    A friend forwarded this:

    To my fellow Americans…….

I’m against the $85,000,000,000.00 bailout of AIG.

Instead, I’m in favor of giving $85,000,000,000 to America in a We Deserve It Dividend.

To make the math simple, let’s assume there are 200,000,000 bonafide U.S. Citizens 18+.

Our population is about 301,000,000 +/- counting every man, woman and child. So 200,000,000 might be a fair stab at adults 18 and up..

So divide 200 million adults 18+ into $85 billion that equals $425,000.00.

My plan is to give $425,000 to every person 18+ as a
    We Deserve It Dividend.

Of course, it would NOT be tax free.
So let’s assume a tax rate of 30%.

Every individual 18+ has to pay $127,500.00 in taxes.
That sends $25,500,000,000 right back to Uncle Sam.

But it means that every adult 18+ has $297,500.00 in their pocket. A husband and wife has $595,000.00.

What would you do with $297,500.00 to $595,000.00 in your family?
Pay off your mortgage – housing crisis solved.
Repay college loans – what a great boost to new grads
Put away money for college – it’ll be there
Save in a bank – create money to loan to entrepreneurs.
Buy a new car – create jobs
Invest in the market – capital drives growth
Pay for your par ent’s medical insurance – health care improves
Enable Deadbeat Dads to come clean – or else

Remember this is for every adult U S Citizen 18+ including the folks who lost their jobs at Lehman Brothers and every other company that is cutting back. And of course, for those serving in our Armed Forces.

If we’re going to re-distribute wealth let’s really do20it…instead of trickling out a puny $1000.00 (“vote buy”) economic incentive that is being proposed by one of our candidates for President.

If we’re going to do an $85 billion bailout, let’s bail out every adult U S Citizen 18+!

As for AIG – liquidate it. Sell off its parts.
Let American General go back to being American General.
    Sell off the real estate.
Let the private sector bargain hunters cut it up and clean it up.

Here’s my rationale. We deserve it and AIG doesn’t.

Sure it’s a crazy idea that can “never work.”

But can you imagine the Coast-To-Coast Block Party!

How do you spell Economic Boom?

I trust my fellow adult Americans to know how to use the $85 Billion We Deserve It Dividend more than I do the geniuses at AIG or in Washington DC .

And remember, this plan only really costs $59.5 Billion because $25.5 Billion is returned
instantly in taxes to Uncle Sam.

Ahhh…I feel so much better getting that off my chest.

    ******** I like it.

Keep your eye on Dana Walsh, too. She’s running as a Rep and will try to ride along in Sarah’s wake. She might be the way to go if Sheehan, someone who has positioned herself as far left as Barry, is able to split up the Dem vote. I see Sheehan as a poor person’s Perot effect. She is enough of an irritant to weaken Pelosi… I believe the good people of SF are dumb enough and Left enough to get in a pissing contest over this. A good turnout by the Reps or just a nice windy, rainy SF November day could be enough.
I will not forget the lies, the anti-American hate filled rhetoric nor will I forget who has permitted the Mortgage crisis. We must all remember that the party has been co-opted by liars, cheats and intimidating bastards who DO NOT BELIEVE WHAT WE DO!
Unless we fully commit to reducing these asshats down to an inconsequential number, we will lose our country.

We win completely or we lose forever…

A post on up says the polls are demoralizing. Duh! Don’t you all get it? They are supposed to be demoralizing! These are media polls – did you think they wouldn’t be biased? There is 5-9 points of built in bias for Obama. That will diminish in the last 2 weeks as polls begin to be concerned about their reputation on accuracy, but until then they are in the tank for Obama. Zogby has been the most accurate the last four elections in the final polls, and they have Obama up less than 2 points. I think in truth McCain is up at least 5, and will win by 10.

Do not panic. The polls are all over the board and the media is only touting the worst. The worst being the Gallup poll which has Obama up by 8 points, but this was with registered voters and not likely voters and weighted based on the voter registration, which is more Democratic. Zogby has one out dated 9/27/08, including 2,103 (good number of voters) nationwide that carries a margin of error of +/- 2.2 percentage points. The result were 47.1 % for Obama and 45.9 for McCain. This is well within the margin of error. Fox has a national poll out at 45 to 39 %, which is a spread of 6 points. Note the 39, which leave 16% to undecided and or third party. Watch the battleground states, that’s where it is going to be won or lost! Then do not forget the old Bradley and Wilder effect, which can be from 3 to 6 %, but on a turn could go as high as 6 to 12 percent.

The Democratic party has become one where people aren’t expected to work for what they want, they feel entitled. The Democratic party doesn’t want to make people be accountable and responsible, just give them what hard working people have just because. I loved the part where Ms. Pelositysauraus stated that the expenditures would be posted on the internet within 48 hours, as if this sort of openess was asked for by her and Reidasaurus and not what the Repubs and especially McCain wanted from the get go.

  • IronMan

Hmmm…no joint news conference on the bailout Bill? Pelosi sounds like she is playing politics already with her soundbytes stroknig Harry Reid’s ego.

The proposed Bill is now on the internet for everyone to read? We need to check it out.

Reid just contradicted himself, saying the first “plan” was a non-starter.

Something tells me the Democrats are going to be pushing this themselves. Republican response/news conference should be coming up next.

For some reason, Frank, Pelosi, and Reid sure do not look very happy. What’s going on?

    • wodiej

I noticed she has Chris “I am the biggest recepient of Fannie Mae lobbyist money” up there w her. And there was dipshit Reid. Oh, and let’s not forget Barney “I want to give everyone a home even if they have no money, no veriable income, no job, no legal right to be in this country and shitty credit” Frank. 4 pinheads.

      • No Way, No How, NoBama

In turn, what favors did these folks get back from Fred & Fannie?

      • baby-puppy

I saw an ad for mortgages that said – ‘no SSN required’!

    • Zorro Astor

      Reid is indescribably BIZARRE.

  • Alice Paul WPB

I cant stand to watch these guys anymore!

  • IronMan

Hmmm…reading between the lines of the Pelosi, et al., presser now. It sure sounds to me like the Republicans will be submitting and offering up their own Bill. If so, I think that is a great idea.

  • SJ

Some sites are claiming the money for Acorn is still in the package it is just reworded differently, can anyone verify if this is really so?

    • Zorro Astor

I’ve heard that too. I can’t find it yet.

  • IronMan

I HOPE the Republicans come up with their own version, one that will not be such a boondoggle giveaway of taxpayer money to Wall Street.

  • Zorro Astor

The story’s spreading like wildfire across the globe. And most of them are saying it’s a brilliant package. I suspect not a one of those fucktards has even bothered reading it.

What a shallow stupid world we live in.

(I’m not saying it’s not a good package – I’m just saying the journalism is despicable. Thanks.)

  • IronMan

Daniel Gross of newsweek said it best just now about the presser just held by Reid, Pelosi, Frank, and Dodd:

“Harry Reid looked liek he was accepting the award for best actor in a massive bailout.”

    LOL!

It was all I and me me me with that political charade.

The presser was weird. They all looked like someone had just taken their lunch money. ;)

FACT: The majority of Americans are NOT in favor for this massive boondoggle bailout of Wall Street.

  • georgia

anyone got the website to read the bill?

  • No Way, No How, NoBama

Lindsay Graham just named ACORN. LOL
    Is this a repeat?

  • georgia

Any one listening to Kerry………. MAKES ME SICK! Grrrrrrrrrr can’t anyone put the country first.

    • Zorro Astor

      Some people can; he can’t.

  • Forget the Polls

Who needs the polls when we’ve got the betting odds?

Gamblers think Obama is going to win. With Sportsbook, a successful $165 bet made today on an Obama win would gain you only $100. A successful $100 bet on a McCain win would gain you $165.

The other online wagering services also have Obama in the lead.

  • MMI

They cannot rush this thing through. Just on first reading of the first 20 pages, it is full of vague language and loopholes. I want intelligent economists to review this and give their opinions to Congress about this plan and I want them to give their opinion about what government should or should not do. Paid politicians like Dodd and Frank who did not know enough or cared enough to recognize the problems at Fannie and Freddie are now going to save this nation from financial disaster? BS.

    • Zorro Astor

Not just economists – legal eagles.

      • No Way, No How, NoBama

Why can’t they write a short bill, give a small load to soothe the jumpy markets, and keep working. Tues & Wed are high holidays so they’ll have to stop working by sundown tomorrow.

I think this is too important to be rushed.

  • TeakWoodKite

    Thanks… MMI, neat site.

  • ConcernedCitizenX

Here’s an idea whose time may have come although it would take some thought about how to pursue:

Use the RICO Act on ACORN.

    • Zorro Astor

Use the RICO Act on ACORN.

I was going to suggest that! ;)

What does Hillary have to say about all of this.

See this on Soros from PUMApak blog
YES! REPOST FROM DOWNSTAIRS 595 diva2 on 09.28.08 at 7:28 pm IMPORTANT READING
THIS IS the PART I SHOULD HAVE SENT ABOUT SOROS–
    (MY last one)

Go to the first paragraph break and you WILL get the connection between SOROS and NOBO on their ideas.
SORRY It’s long but so IMOP so important.

George Soros is one of the most powerful men on earth. A New York hedge fund manager, he has amassed a personal fortune estimated at about $7.2 billion. His management company controls billions more in investor assets. Since 1979, his foundation network — whose flagship is the Open Society Institute (OSI) — has dispensed an estimated $5 billion to a multitude of organizations whose objectives are consistent with those of Soros. (The President of OSI and the Soros Foundation Network is Aryeh Neier, who, as Director of the socialist League for Industrial Democracy, personally created the radical group Students for a Democratic Society in 1959.) With assets of $859 million as of 2005, OSI alone donates scores of millions of dollars annually to these various groups, whose major agendas can be summarized as follows:
promoting the view that America is institutionally an oppressive nation

promoting the election of leftist political candidates throughout the United States
opposing virtually all post-9/11 national security measures enacted by U.S. government, particularly the Patriot Act
depicting American military actions as unjust, unwarranted, and immoral
promoting open borders, mass immigration, and a watering down of current immigration laws
promoting a dramatic expansion of social welfare programs funded by ever-escalating taxes
promoting social welfare benefits and amnesty for illegal aliens
defending suspected anti-American terrorists and their abetters
financing the recruitment and training of future activist leaders of the political Left
advocating America’s unilateral disarmament and/or a steep reduction in its military spending
opposing the death penalty in all circumstances
promoting socialized medicine in the United States
promoting the tenets of radical environmentalism, whose ultimate goal, as writer Michael Berliner has explained, is “not clean air and clean water, [but] rather … the demolition of technological/industrial civilization”
bringing American foreign policy under the control of the United Nations
promoting racial and ethnic preferences in academia and the business world alike

    America Coming Together
    America Votes
    Center for American Progress
    Joint Victory Campaign 2004
    Media Fund
    MoveOn.org
    Thunder Road Group
These organizations, along with the many leftist groups with which they collaborate, have played a major role in helping Soros advance his political and social agendas.

According to Richard Poe, co-author (with David Horowitz) of the 2006 book The Shadow Party:

“The Shadow Party is the real power driving the Democrat machine. It is a network of radicals dedicated to transforming our constitutional republic into a socialist hive. The leader of these radicals is … George Soros. He has essentially privatized the Democratic Party, bringing it under his personal control. The Shadow Party is the instrument through which he exerts that control. … It works by siphoning off hundreds of millions of dollars in campaign contributions that would have gone to the Democratic Party in normal times, and putting those contributions at the personal disposal of Mr. Soros. He then uses that money to buy influence and loyalty where he sees fit. In 2003, Soros set up a network of privately-owned groups which acts as a shadow or mirror image of the Party. It performs all the functions we would normally expect the real Democratic Party to perform, such as shaping the Party platform, fielding candidates, running campaigns, and so forth. However, it performs these functions under the private supervision of Mr. Soros and his associates. The Shadow Party derives its power from its ability to raise huge sums of money. By controlling the Democrat purse strings, the Shadow Party can make or break any Democrat candidate by deciding whether or not to fund him. During the 2004 election cycle, the Shadow Party raised more than $300 million for Democrat candidates, prompting one of its operatives, MoveOn PAC director Eli Pariser, to declare, ‘Now it’s our party. We bought it, we own it…’”

Soros in 2004 spent some $26 million trying, unsuccessfully, to defeat President Bush’s reelection bid, a task Soros called “the central focus of my life” and “a matter of life and death.” He has likened Republicans generally, and the Bush administration in particular, to “the Nazi and communist regimes” in the sense that they are “all engaged in the politics of fear.” “Indeed,” he wrote in 2006, “the Bush administration has been able to improve on the techniques used by the Nazi and Communist propaganda machines by drawing on the innovations of the advertising and marketing industries.” Soros elaborated on this theme at the January 2007 World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, where he told reporters: “America needs to . . . go through a certain de-Nazification process.”

In December of 2006, Soros met with Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama in his (Soros’) New York office. Soros had previously hosted a fund-raiser for Obama during the latter’s 2004 campaign for the Senate. On January 16, 2007, Obama announced the creation of a presidential exploratory committee, and within hours Soros sent the senator a contribution of $2,100, the maximum amount allowable under campaign finance laws. Later that week the New York Daily News reported that Soros would back Obama over Senator Hillary Clinton, whom he had supported in the past. Soros’ announcement was seen as a repudiation of Clinton’s presidential aspirations, though Soros said he would support the New York senator were she to win the Democratic nomination. Oh isn’t that just great….I’m tired and scared. But I know about all this.

This is part of a bigger scheme that has been going on since 1900s……progressives loved the notions of Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin….they loved em and thought of these tyrant as enlightened expirementive geniuses….all you gotta do is read the NYT, New Yorker etc from the period and you’ll see that just like today, the media elite and the academics along with the Dems especially were enamoured with Fascism, Communisms etc. They loved how Avant garde, scientific and brave these tyrant were to openly dispise “individualism”, “democracy” etc…..These tyrant all admired President Wilson as he was the first “true” fascist…..FDR and johnson followed withe their “big deal” and “great societies”

don’t you get it??….the militaristic, racists, sexist, flag waving, imperialistic and nationalistic, politic that we think is “conservative” was created by Wilson, FDR, and Johnson machines….since it never worked they decided to blame it on the Republicans……the problem is that the Republicans were to dumb or unsophisticated to defend themselves from it…they still don’t know that the fix is on them or how!!!!

Republican politics was created by and for the middle class unsophisticated but intelligent Farm owner in the North and South…it came out of Jefferson’s vision of how to guarantee/maintain freedom to people–ie the Bill of rights and small state focused government. The Dems was the first party in this country…they were the sophisticates and the Federalists with all kind of grandiose schemes. By the very late 1800s, early 1900s, they started admiring German intellectuals Marx, Engles, Croly, etc….they went head over heals….even the Republican, Teddy Roosevelt left the party to join the Utopians. The problem was that they firmly believed in Utopia, regardless of the immediate human toll it took….scientific experimentation was more importatant that some measely “individual”.
They all hated the constitution (Wilson was the first president to openly mock it), individualism, democracy, and small/medium ineffecient systems or bbusinesses etc. The loved the notion the Government can be linked to massive Business to control the little people. Wilson was the 1st to establish massive ties with industry to facilitate his totalitarian vision.

The Republican values are those of the religious (puritan) small to middle class business/farmer folk of the north and the poor protestant and catholics of the south (both either were disgusted with slavery or had no stake in it). These values are grounded in christianity and devotion to total freedom of speech and religion and disdain for unrepresentative central government. After all the republican were the Abolitionist against slavery. the next plan these unsophisticate was to entirely economically integrate the black slave into the respectible society.

In contrast, the Democrat values of today are in continuum with the history, culture, beliefs(they try desperately to hide) of the Northern Elite Industrialist and the Southern racist former slave holding agrarian ((Dixie Democrats) elite class. At the end of the Civil War these elites came together to develope the new power base of the Democrat Party…their values were quite distant from religious principles: racial superiority (south) and/or manic utopian visions where only they the elite have the ability to improve the lives of the poor by running their lives of the nothern poor (white and black) industrial classes(eg Putnam)using their fortune for the purpose of their Glory. TTheir philosphy was that the poor are incapable of refined behaviour and survival. Their riches were nnot enough for them-they needed glory to flaunt to their peers and all such schemes depended on the maintenance of the poor class while providing for their rudimentary needs (seem familiar?). This had everything to do with domination, and endentured servitude (a form of slavery they were already accustomed to before the Civil War). It was all about centralized power and religious principles in their decisions were always minimal. The were Federalist/centralist….and willingly gave all power to Government they ran. These elites were very sophisticated and had great ties with each other.

The Dems have distorted our history so badly that we don’t know the difference about “UP” or “Down” let alone the truth! But what is true is that the Conservative is certainly not prone to fascism and racism….and the Democrats certainly were. Up until the time of FDR, democrats didn’t want any power to the freed Blacks–they tried to make their lives as insignificant as possible. FDR caused the Democrat party to part with its racist past, atleast officially but this did little to improve their lot. But all other Democrats values have remained uunchanged eg central government, til this day. Pimp the poor for political gain, regardless of the cost to those being pimped.

Funny isn’t it because all of you disdain the poor sounther white man of today and call him a racist and a KKK if he is a republican…well this is mostly false. The reason they vote republican is because it is the only party that protects their way of life and culture, including religion. Most of these people are not racist but the adhere fanatically to their freedom and don’t want to be helped or dependent on the freedom usurping Government and they don’t want to be used by it.

….look it up…do lots of reading, use you logical mind and please read “Liberal Fascism” to start…..it may save this country and deprogram that victim oriented attitude many liberals have.

The problem today is that the true Fascist have rewritten your history and your vision of what it mean to be an American.

So no things haven’t changed…other that the fact that they (the Dems) still want to dominate over you lives and distract you from cherishing the Bill of Right and the Consitution.

Its us unsophisticate people who are YOUR champions for America and YOUR Freedom. Republican always hated wars as opposed to Dems who got into any war they could find in order to further regulate and restrict your lives.

Please my fellow American wake up….we conservative love our fellow Dem american as we want to protect you from your destructive ideals…that inevitable can’t work….just as they never have anywhere in the world (stalin, pol pot, hitler, chavez, arifat, mussolini, etc…all collectiveist and totalitarian and through use identitiy politics and marxist utopian “progressive” principles.

I know capitalism is harch but it still is the most equitalbe, as long a we have our freedom. Stop socialism….it will kill us all….and eventually the whole western world. The kind of socialism they are trying to implememnt only benefit the cliques of elite and their academt pals by delivering to them all you tax money for their own gain. You, the poor man will get nothing but a kick in the teeth when they finished using you…you’re just a mean to an end….yet so many of you thing you want to be part of the regime as an elite….there is only so much room for elites among them.

BTW, the KKK=dixie democrats, not republican. Eugenics=democrats, fascist ties to Megaindustr=dems, etc.

Read: “Liberal Fascism” your life depends on your understanding of the forces in play today….its no accident that Obama was chosen by the Dems…..Think about it.

So can we do something as a group to make the media do their jobs? One thing would be to turn off our TVs for a day or just watch Fox News channel.

I bet some creative people out there could come up with a great idea.

I really believe that most Americans just don’t understand the danger we face. And a large part of it that they’ve come to trust and believe the media.

The media has really let us down and they need to hear our feelings about this.

I hope a 527 does a commercial on this whole ACORN debacle including Obama’s past work with them, the FEC modifications for payments to them, the fact that there were in the Bailout Bill and placed there by the Dems (who deferred to their leader Obama in the White House meeting) and all the voter fraud and embezzlement. And the fact that ACORN was included in the recent bailout bill for homebuyers (that was the $300 billion one). The connection could be that Dems are using taxpayer money to fund an organization which turns around and gets out the vote for them (whether legit or not). Oh and the 527 should make sure and mention that ACORN is an illegal alien advocacy group and they were soliciting people for subprime mortgages (stating no tax returns, no immigration papers). This entire debacle is infuriating.

    ACORN’s Florida coordinator, Brian Kettenring

Brian’s name is listed on a blog I came across. He had met up with someone at the DNC and mentioned he was on his way back to DC/Acorn headquarters and wanted to see about setting up a “Department of Socialism”. This blogger said that she had just the thing for him, this newly formed group called “U.S. Solidarity Economy Network”.

I’ve put the website below as I didn’t know anything about them and thought maybe someone had some insight as to what they’re all about.

    An Anti-Capitalism Agenda
To understand the nature and extent of Acorn’s radicalism, an excellent place to begin is Sol Stern’s 2003 City Journal article, “ACORN’s Nutty Regime for Cities.” (For a shorter but helpful piece, try Steven Malanga’s “Acorn Squash.”)

Sol Stern explains that Acorn is the key modern successor of the radical 1960’s “New Left,” with a “1960’s-bred agenda of anti-capitalism” to match. Acorn, says Stern, grew out of “one of the New Left’s silliest and most destructive groups, the National Welfare Rights Organization.” In the 1960’s, NWRO launched a campaign of sit-ins and disruptions at welfare offices. The goal was to remove eligibility restrictions, and thus effectively flood welfare rolls with so many clients that the system would burst. The theory, explains Stern, was that an impossibly overburdened welfare system would force “a radical reconstruction of America’s unjust capitalist economy.” Instead of a socialist utopia, however, we got the culture of dependency and family breakdown that ate away at America’s inner cities until welfare reform began to turn the tide.
    _______

I believe that they ( Left) are trying to flood the system until it breaks so that they can force “a radical reconstruction of America’s unjust capitalist economy.”

I believe that this is Lord Wingnuts agenda, I might be totally wrong, but if you look who he surrounds himself and what he used to teach when he was with ACORN and the following:

Obama was trained by the Alinsky-founded Industrial Areas Foundation (IAF) in Chicago and worked for an affiliate of the Gamaliel Foundation, whose modus operandi for the creation of a more just and democratic society’ is rooted firmly in the Alinsky method.

    it makes sense
