“Exhale” Open Thread

The video below reminded me of Obama’s DECREE today that the emergency bailout WILL be passed because he wishes it so, but not because he has spent a moment on Capitol Hill conferring with Democratic House and Senate members. He arrogantly mentions daily calls to Secretary Paulson, as that is all “The One” must do. John McCain is right to point out that Obama failed to rally his “troops.” McCain is correct.

Is Obama really that much like Bush? That he thinks he can “snap” — make this happen — without the face-to-face, time-consuming negotiations that John McCain has worked to fit in? That, like Bush, he wants what he wants, but hasn’t built the rapport and intimate contacts with members of Congress necessary to lead to consensus and passage of the measure? Is he like Bush in that he’s never bothered to spend the requisite time with Congressional leaders? Because he’s too busy holding rah-rah rallies to roll his sleeves up and working hard WITH them?

I think of the past grand masters of the Congress — leaders like Lyndon Johnson, Everett Dirksen, Sam Rayburn, and more — who artfully built solid relationships with members of Congress through years of building friendships, negotiating, even arm-twisting. I think of my state’s great senator, Warren Magnuson, who intimately knew his colleagues and could make legislation happen because, it’s famously said, he never made an enemy, Democrat or Republican, and enjoyed universal respect. Despite seven years in office, President Bush hasn’t created the Congressional relationships and remains a near-stranger to members of Congress. Barack Obama is another near-stranger. Only John McCain and, yes, Joe Biden have forged those relationships. What if a President Obama is faced with yet another dire crisis that demands emergency legislation? Will that near-stranger have the effective means to negotiate, arm-twist, and get it passed? I doubt he’d be any more effective than Bush. And so we Americans are stuck in limbo. And will be again if, shockingly, Americans vote in Obama.

It was our clever, colorful cartoonist Pat Racimora who explored the great collection of Flineo’s videos, spotted “Exhale,” and suggested we post it.

Watching “Exhale” also reminded me of Uppity Woman’s great post this past weekend that got such a huge response that Larry bumped it up, and we had to start a second thread: “Say The Wrong Obama Thing in Missouri, Get Arrested! Not So Fast, Says Governor.

A lot of people I know who have opposed Obama’s candidacy are worried about what might happen to them and their friends if he wins. Just how far are he and his henchmen willing to go in order to silence and intimidate us? I don’t think my friends are crazy to worry about it. We saw early on in the Democratic primaries that any opposition to Obama was regarded as treasonous. The viciousness of his followers towards Hillary supporters was shocking. His followers, nearly invariably, took the low road in their attacks — from nasty comments and e-mails to revealing people’s names and addresses — and Obama never said a word to stop them. Their threatening treatment of us Hillary supporters went beyond anything I’ve ever witnessed in the political world. I worry that, if Obama wins, his followers will feel entitled to do whatever they want to those of us who dared to oppose him. Based on what I’ve witnessed so far about their behavior, my worry isn’t a passing thought. It’s a real concern.

So, what else is going on in the world?

  • lark

Major Garret said that Obama voted present on the bailout bill.

  • pm317

Susan, thank you for bringing back genius Flineo’s videos. I think in fact all the GE voters should be introduced to them, one by one to expose what a character Obama is.

  • educatedwhitewoman

Obama votes PRESENT again – never takes an official stance on the bailout bill, never states whether he’s for it or against. As the reporter covering his campaign said today, Obama made a few calls to Democrats telling them to put themselves on the line, but he wouldn’t stand up and do it himself. Change you can’t believe in!

  • IronMan

Per Major Garret just now on FOX:

“Obama is not sure if he is going back to Washington.”

See folks, that is part of the problem. In a crisis, Obama does not know what to do. I guess making such a decision is above Obama’s paygrade, huh?

    Obama is weak.

    Rut-Roh

Major Garret speaking from Colorado with some smack down against Obama now. Saying some are saying Obama did not do enough as the Democratic nominee to rally votes within his own party.

  • Ferd McBerfle

That’s a sure-fire way to make your voice heard.

I never understood why people fail to vote, for whatever reason. If you don’t vote, you have no right to whine.

  • I Have a Bracelet Too!

McCain’s party does not hate his guts. He won the Republican nomination over Romney and Huckabee. Certain factions of his party were very displeased with him because every so often he poked a big stick in the President’s eye.

  • Soldier of Christ

Are you serious about him voting “present”. No way! He couldn’t be that stupid. Didn’t he think that the public would find out? What is wrong with this picture. As for the NYCdave comment on this blog, I doubt very seriously if you had any intentions of ever voting for Mccain coming from the NYC of Hillary’s terrority. And I can say to you, Dave, at least Mccain tried to help- not like the ,savior who walks on water , standing on the sidelines. Like Palin said in an interview- he put his finger up in the sky and sees which way the wind is shifting to vote. In this case- he did “safe”. What a leader! What a man! What a coward!

  • MikeG

Call Garret and clue him in that the Senate hasn’t voted.

  • I Have a Bracelet Too!

He probably would do better rallying the members of the Bundestag.

  • Cooney

He has not voted yet has he? The senate has not even gotten the bill.

  • MikeG

Maybe someone should clue him in that the Senate hasn’t voted.

  • ford

Obama is such a dick. McCain didn’t get it done either, yet.

At least McCain said something, which he has to know BO will wrap around his neck..BO is all about gotcha, isn’t he?

BO will vote “present” on anything…this proves it again…no leadership@ all.

i think I’m sick of politics right now. I can’t concur with all the people on this site who are gleeful about the country crashing.

  • stodghie

and so nydave, obambi is your man? huh? if so you are the joke. if not, then let’s discuss the democrats and what a bunch of spinless idiots they are. how about that dave?

  • Steve1

Hey, From Day One, I have always stated that Soetoro-Obama is a controlled puppet. He is a compromised, effete, weak-minded thug from Chicago. He is propped up by the corporate interests of this country who think they will control him and his thugs, wannabe(s) Mugabe gansters! I am glad the House defeated the bailout bill. I am sick of the greedy Wall Street crooks. Now they are crying for welfare! Shit, let Rome burn and start all over. Which ever Reps stood-up, have the Balls. Sick of the entire mess. Most Americans know this is a scam. I tired of this phoney Soetoro and the corporate controlled media trying to make him out to be this glorious leader. Shit! Only problem, little Boots, no-matter how hard he tries, can not fit the bill.

  • csuzeq

Senator’s can vote in the house now? Cool!

HILLARY, come quickly, we nnneeeeeedddddd you badly!

  • It’s Not Me

The HOUSE voted today. “THE ONE” is a Senator. Though I honestly don’t expect to see him show up for the Senate vote…being the LOSER he is.

  • Soldier of Christ

If Pelosi would have keep her mouth shut as Cavato in Fox said- maybe it would have passed. Here she stand up and blames Bush (my goodness the guy is leaving office already-she needs to get over it) and bash the republicans (especially since this collape was in her watch) we would have passed the forsaken bill. She has a big mouth like her daughter!

  • benny

Nanacy Pelosi must be fasting and praying before she speaks to the ‘One’. She has failed and the ‘One’ aint happy. :-)

Nancy Pelosi must be fasting and praying before she speaks to the ‘One’. She has failed and the ‘One’ aint happy. :-)

I’m laughing here. That trillion will “open up the credit market” again. We give them money so they can loan it to us at loan-shark rates again. What a deal.

  • Paul3triple

ummm, you do realize McCain tryed to take the bull by the horns. Pwlosi called a vote to the floor before she even knew if she had the votes.
I am really not sure what you are talking about. Republicans HATE this bill. When he went to washington only 4 pubs supported. Today 66 voted on it.
He cannot MAKE poeple vote for something their constituents hate.

I would rather a leader try and fail than not try at all. This bill was opposed by 228 poeple. Not just Mccains party. over 40% of dems voted no as well.
It really has nothing to do with his leadership. He went to DC and got the republican leadership a seat at the table when Pelosi was shutting them out.
Not to mention this bill is a raw deal all around.

I have never saw you post here EVAH. So i assume you are an obaba supporter stirring trouble.
At least McCain tryed. I want my leader to try, not to mention he knew it was a huge risk. He could have been like obama and do nothing. But McCain put his campaign on the line to do something that was needed.
Democrats should have gave up the 12 extra votes if it was important to them.

  • It’s Not Me

The Senate didn’t vote today. The HOUSE did, but don’t expect THE ONE to put an actual ‘vote’ “on the record” when the Senate does vote.

  • benny

    very true, soldier.

  • ford

I am not gleeful, but the fact that 90+ D’s voted this bill down is staggering..it lost by less than 20 votes…I think it was 10. BO did not get it done.

Pelosi put crap up the Pub’s nose right before the vote(nice move Nancy, how have you stayed married all these years with people skills like that?)…then Nancy was SHOCKED that the Pub’s burned her and Bush…surprise there? No.

The surpirse is that the D’s burn ed BO….secret PUMAS?

  • Steve1

Better yet, let him take another vacation to his amigos in Pakistan!

  • I Have a Bracelet Too!

We’re not gleeful, tek, and it’s not just us.

Congressmen were getting calls 20-21 against the bailout from their own constituents.

Why do you think there were so many Dem holdouts?
They want to retain their seats!

    tek:

I am looking at the people who voted “no.” What do they know that we don’t? When a liberal like Kuccinich says “no” and someone like Gingrich says “no,” maybe we should look at alternatives before we give the guy (Paulsen) who cut his teeth at an investment bank $700 Billion big ones … I don’t know.

I can tell you. I lost serious money in the past week. No one intellectually wants a FAST FREAKING ANSWER more than me. It’s my entire retirement and I am damn near needing it … but still … doesn’t this seem awfully hurried to you? What happened to all of the suspicion this group of Democrats always had for Bush? I don’t know nuance like I should but two guys on the opposite ends of the spectrum are saying NO, NO, NO ….

  • dixie

“Based on what I’v witnessed so far about their behavior, my worry isn’t a passing thought. It’s a real concern.”
Sad to say but I think there is most likely a plan already in the works whether Obama wins or loses for the people backing Obama to cause all kinds of trouble for the nation.

ding ding! another $20 donation to McCain/Palin. Thanks troll, that’s what happens every time you do it.

  • It’s Not Me

The Republicans were just looking for an excuse to vote no. Pelosi was their excuse. They had better pray the economy doesn’t collapse between now and whenever they decide to vote for something (sounds like that will be THURSDAY). Otherwise, they will be held responsible along with the Democrats who voted against it.

  • Shiloh

I think the point is, he is “voting present” by not taking a stand one way or the other.

  • nancyjoe

Is ANYONE really still thinking they should vote for Obama? ROFLMAO. WHY? He does nothing, knows nothing and he flipped America off until Bush made him show in Washington. The real hero here is McCain. Period.

  • http://firefox AnnieCarmel

I’d like to know how many of those Dems not rubber stamping this were holding back because they want ACORN put back in. Were they the Black Caucus?

Listen Tek, Its not the American people who are crashing. It is the same corporate crooks who control our media, who are behinf the corruption on both parties. We know when we are being ripped off. Americans are hard working, we pay our taxes, we are just tired of the RIP-OFF con artists who have caused this mess. Now they want want welfare, who pays, the American working people. Who benefits? The F**king crooks on Wall street and the international corporations who are running this scam. WE are tired of it!

  • Anonymus

actually they ARE happy cause it as all part of Obama’s plan to keep the topic on the economy. I hope this quiets down by the end of the week so McCain can start the attacks on Obambi

Senator John McCain won the Republican Party’s presidential nomination with honesty and fairness to the other candidates.
As he said, he is not Mr. Congeniality in Congress, when fighting for the people’s rights. He & Gov. It’s not Bush they don’t trust, it’s the whole thing…the lies, the few details, the get it done now because of the Jewish Holidays…and I’m Jewish!

Look there was just this SUDDEN burning building, and many different plans out there,,but only ONE they wanted us to pick…and it initially had lots of crap in it…

then it had ACORN, then not..Then it has stuff for Wall St. but not Main St.

BO did not see this coming…what does that tell you?? He thought a few phone calls and this would get done because he said so…the plastic Jesus. McCain at least took a stand and then went to DC 2 xs. to try to convince Pub’s…then Pelosi sets the Pub’s on fire right before the vote…check out her speech, and tell me she has ever tried to talk to a teenager. It is a miracle she got this far..

  • bert

Pwlosi called a vote to the floor before she even knew if she had the votes.

According to FOX she knew. Even FOX’s count had the bill failing to pass. And that was BEFORE Madame’s little prickish speech.

And if you know anything about how Congress operates you know that IF a leader wnats a bill to pass they do a head count before hand. And if the votes are not there they do hold the vote.

She, the Dems wanted this to fail.

  • benny

Obama decrees the bill to be passed, and 90+ dems say f*** off. Thats an irony. I thought that good ole barry was Godfather over the democratic party mafia. The Godfather wont be pleased. :-)

And whats wrong with consigliere Pelosi? very dissapointing.

  • It’s Not Me

Oh come ON! The Democrats have been in control of Congress for LESS THAN 2 YEARS. I have just about had it here with all the damn Republican talking points spewing forth by supposed Democrats. This is fu*king ridiculous. The REPUBLICANS took control of Congress in 1995…..they had Congressional control under Clinton and then 6 FREAKIN’ YEARS of the IDIOT-IN-CHIEF. It’s BULLSHIT to blame this on the DEMOCRATS. I’m sick of it. They took control of Congress in 2006!

  • Shiloh

I think people are wondering exactly why this is such a crisis when it isn’t being treated like one. I mean on one hand the house says it is critical that is be passed. Fine. But if it is really critical and the country needs it, why are the (excuse me I must) democrats refusing to pass it with the votes they have just because they only got 63 republican votes? They are outright telegraphing the irrefutable fact that they are by intent choosing not to do what they believe is critical to do because they fear being stuck with political responsibility for it.. The only other explanation is they don’t really feel it is critical.

You Tube pulls a popular anti-Democrat video off the web

    C. Edmund Wright

You Tube and Warner Music Group today pulled a highly popular video that very succinctly and clearly spelled out the roots of the current economic crisis.

The 9:59 video entitled “Burning Down the House: What Caused Our Economic Crisis” played four different songs under a fast moving video sequence that very clearly tied Democrats like Chris Dodd, Franklin Raines, Jim Johnson and Barack Obama to policies and corruption related to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. It cleverly showed how the “affordable mortgage” programs sent an economic virus through the entire economy and showed Republican efforts to intervene and regulate being blocked.

For Obama and all congressional Democrats, it was a devastating video.

The video had almost a perfect viewer rating and had been viewed some 1.2 million times according to the You Tube counters. Sometime around 3:45 EDT the video disappeared with the banner saying “This Video is no longer available due to a copywrite claim by Warner Music Group.”

This sounds to me a lot like another front in this war for the country.

    Thomas Lifson adds:

Even though I wonder if Warner is so vigilant about its music being used for videos advantageous to Democrats, there is a perfect right to object to appropriation of intellectual property. Music is a business, and if you use someone’s music you have to pay a royalty.

Simply re-post the video minus its music soundtrack, and see what happens. Ot use a soundtrack of music in the public domain. I suggest Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, which has a driving beat of its own in various places.

Update: Daniel J. Bianco writes in, poiting out that head of the Warner Music Group’s political contributions this year are going exclusively to Democrats.

Here are 12 obama superdelegates that voted no on the bailout bill:
    Rep. Linda Sanchez (CA)
    Rep. John Salazar (CO)
    Rep. David Scott (GA)
    Rep. Bobby Scott (VA)
    Rep. Jose Serrano (NY)
    Rep. Carol Shea-Porter (NH)
    Rep. Pete Stark (CA)
    Rep. Betty Sutton (OH)
    Rep. Bennie Thompson (MS)
    Rep. Mark Udall (CO)
    Rep. Tom Udall (NM)
    Rep. Peter Visclosky (IN)

In addition to Obama not being able to rally his troops and be a leader on getting just 10 more Democratic votes, there is even a more troubling fact. According to Not Your Sweetie it appears Obama did not insist that bankruptcy provisions that would allow judges to do loan modifications or any forbearance was not put in the bill. There’s no moratorium on mortgage foreclosures in here, according to Dennis Kucnich.

He was told Obama did not want these types of provisions.

If it starts becoming a christmas tree with every constituency saying , hey where’s my cut, it will never pass. That reminds me, I’ve been paying my mortgage for 25 years and was never late once – where’s my cut?

  • EightBelles

During Pelosi’s buzz killer statement before the House, she spoke about “no regulations, no supervision, no discipline…” She mentioned an “anything goes mentality.” She talked about those who were hell bent on “creating chaos.” At one point the House Speaker announced “The party is over.” Imagine my shock upon learning that Pelosi was describing Repub House members who voted against a 700 trillion dollar bail-out, when all along I thought Pelosi was talking about the sham Roll Call at the Dem Convention!

  • Steve1

McCain told Obama to FO in the WH last thursday for trying to ram the ACORN part of the Bill through so Obama could keep his private army financed!

Now troll what did Obama do, oh yes gave the order this morning “to get it done” and 90+ of his own party members told him in no uncertain terms to FO, leadership to enjoy…..lol

  • Brodie

Hmm, I think you’ve got something there. I want a fast solution as much as anyone, but why the hell do these folks do this stuff w/only a few minutes to spare? (Why do they take so many vacations when our whole nation is in crisis mode? For that matter- why does Nobama take so many vacations?) I’d really appreciate some reasoned and extended discussion and debate on the ramifications of what they’re doing. Kuccinich and Gingrich agreeing, eh? It really is a strange year… I think Pres. George “Chicken Little” Bush has squawked one time too many & now they don’t believe him. Fasten your seat belts, it’s gonna be a bumpy ride.

  • hadenough

It’s no coincidence then that of the 205 Members who voted in support of the bill today, there are only two — Reps. Chris Shays (R-Conn.) and Jon Porter (R-Nev.) — who find themselves in difficult reelection races this fall. The list of the 228 “nays” reads like a virtual target list for the two parties.

While it’s clear that the main reason the bill failed was the provincial concerns of more than 220 Members…

Now I fully understand why the US is in the shitter financially. People like this troll say, do, espouse anything and turn on a dime. Thank God this one is only 15 years old.

  • Duras

The reason thet voted it down is because they’re getting an earful from their constituents back home, the clear majority of whom do NOT want a bailout bill of ANY kind passed. They’re saying “Let the people who made this mess rot in it. Let ‘em go under. They deserve it.”

Let the Fed inject as much near-term money into the system as needed to keep the credit markets open until we have time to find out where all these shitty real estate loans actually are. There’s no need to rush into a commitment of $700 billion of taxpayer money.

There are plenty of well-managed financial institutions out there with ample cash like JP Morgan/Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Northwestern Mutual, etc. who didn’t chase the easy money in the mortgage markets and who can now use their healthy balance sheets to swoop in and buy up the worthwhile assets of these other firms at distressed prices.

  • ILlynn

Pelosi/Obama want to blame the GOP for the bail-out failure even though many Dems including the majority of the Black Caucus voted no. The two house-reps from BO’s south side Chgo neighborhood, Jesse Jackson Jr. and Bobby Rush also voted NO.

Ah yes Susan! Where are the great leaders when we need them? Tip O’Neil comes to mind to be added to your list! We have a woeful lack of leadership in Washington.

As for the bill going down to defeat because the politicians were hearing from the voters- AHH, HMMM, NOT! If they actually listened to the voters we would have Hillary – not some lame marionette. They are freakin out and doing their damdest to keep their seats. It’s all about them and has absolutely nothing to do with what is good for the country or the voters.

  • Shiloh

I seldom listen to Rush but did about a half hour today. He was saying how huge the 2005 hearing video is. Now they found a way to have it taken down, at least temporarily. I mean that video says it all. it is 8 min long but anyone who watches will think differently.

It’s funny to me how our house and senate want nothing to do with religion. Constantly scream separation of Church and State. Yet they want all those religious holidays off? From every religion. How is that separating the state from religion? Or is that wall only invisible when it works to their advantage? They scream separation now they need to practice what they preach and work. They can’t have it both ways.

  • Duras

The only reason they would have voted NO is because there wasn’t enough pork in it for them.

  • http://mbc MBC

We’re not gleeful Tek, it was a bad bill. I am not sure why John McCain was hopeful it would be passed, he has some “splaining” to do. However, what I do believe is what Donald Trump said during an interview with Fox…the drop in the market “is a cleansing”. Oil dropped, that is not a bad thing. In fact, no credit except to those highly qualified is not a bad thing. It will rein in the speculators, the ones who bought oil to hold and who bought houses to flip, etc.
It may be painful for some, but for those of us who did not make risky deals and lived within our means, it WAS A BAD BILL! Besides having all sorts of legal and constitutional questions. How can you help one business and not another? ‘Splain that?

Have you guys really not figured it out yet. OBama is creating this, these fools thought they could control obama, now he’s controling them. The more this is hyped up, the more upset people get with the republicans. and news flash to nancy, just like he didn’t care that you bent of backwards and licked his behind and pissed off off he could care less if she is even re eleected.

Let’s be 100% honest, Americans are inherently stupid. They believe everything they are told. Right now I promise you the average person believes the Republicans caused this problem, they are the enemies. So the longer obama and his gang hold up the bill the angerier people will be come at bush and the republicans. Yes obama is screwing his own party, he’s screwing with our economy and until people wake up and see it ,which i doubt they will. 12 of his superdelegates are voting no. and people think it’s a coincidence. Oh yeah and he also knows john mccain is not going to go back and campaign until this is over, just this morning, we put a patient in seclusion, and i was supervisor, there was a charge nurse but i still was there, i couldn’t just leave, so i help out, make sure things got done. I didn’t leave until 8:30am, I get off 7:15am. Obama knows McCain is the same way, so while he does nothing, mccain is in washington trying to help out. he did it will hillary and he’s doing it with McCain using their better nature against them. The only way to change this situation. Get Pelosi and othe democrats to realize obama is screwing them so he can win. Obama doesn’t know how to win unless he cheats.

The funny thing is hearing those against this bill decry it as “socialism”.

Not passing this bill is the first step to real socialism. Credit market dries up, jobs dissappear. Foreclosures rise.

President Obama has all the answers. Pretty soon you have a nice job, housing allowance and food courtesy of the leader.

We have already seen how a little fear can make average Americans give up their fundamental rights. Try a little poverty and see what the middle class will be willing to give up.

I don’t know if Obama really is a socialist, but if the economy isn’t righted soon, we will have a chance to find out.

They call this a Wall Street bailout and that is why so many are against it. What is really is, is a rescue for capitalism. Yes, Wall Street and the bankers screwed it up with help from consumers who don’t understand a damn thing about interest, but in the end it is all of us and our way of life that needs the rescue. Without it, true socialism may not be as far away as you think.

Gotta agree both parties are at fault. It will fall more heavily on the Republicans but with the way Pelosi, and the rest of the mob squad has been acting, people aren’t that entusiastic about the Democrats. I don’t give a damn what the polls say.

If anything this crisis has exposed the Democrats for what they claim the Republicans to be- corrupt. No one trusts either party this time around. In fact it’s the only reason McCain isn’t that far behind Obama as he should be.

Stupid question but are there any moderately honest democrats? If so who? And do you think they would be willing to hatchet Nancy and the obama twelve. what i’m think is that if someone a reasonably honest democrat was willing to implicate them in this foolishness. If obama’s followers on the internet has annoyed us as much as they have, i’m quite sure his followers are probably no less annoying in real life. Just like there was someone who reported, what the grandeous fool said after the magical mystery tour in a closed meeting, there is someone who knows that these fools are doing. But what america and democrats need to realize is that obama is willing to sink them and this country and the party just so he can win. This fool could bottom out the stock market if he plays chicken too long. Obama is not as smart as he thinks he is and like he has done o ver and over again, he over plays his hand. The well being of our ecomony could be crushed, because people have lost confidence in the dollar.

  • http://NA Lee Ruth

We are in the current situation of unpredictable events, generated by un-natural causes. It has nothing to do with “greed on Wall St” – that is one thing I do know.
This time, I’d speculate that there are many more victims on Wall St. than villains. Any villains are in Congress or had some connection to Congress.

The current situation originated inside Congress and the very same perpetrators are poised to fix it. That in and of itself is even a greater problem. Kind of like the fox in charge of the chicken coop scenario, who is being paid by the farmer to guard his chickens… well after all the chickens have been eaten, the very same fox is in charge of investigating who ate all the chickens. The fox will only feign innocence, blame the chickens of being “greedy” and demand the the chicken coop get replenished with new chickens at the farmers expense.
Its gonna take some divine intervention to fix this mess we’re in.

My speculation (and it is only a bad speculation)…
It is likely to drill down to very unexpected places.
This is something that is highly infective.
One situation infects the next one.

Based on the various internet videos I’ve seen over the weekend, I can only offer this observation. When it is the Republicans clamoring for more regulation and the Democrats denying the need for any regulation, as everything is fine just as it is, -SOMETHING IS VERY, VERY WRONG!

THIS belongs to the REAGAN REPUBLICANS and the REAGAN DEMOCRATS. Their DREAM (Republicans) has always been to kill The New Deal…ever since its inception. That is what they have been doing for the last 8 years. Right now, it looks like they have succeeded. They have finally nearly bankrupted the country to the point that all those so-called “entitlement programs” like Medicare, SS and any other Social program will DIE a slow death. Wildfires convert old growth forests into newer growth. Old growth coniferous forests have a thick canopy and little sunlight reaches the forest floor. With little sunlight hitting the forest floor, not many plants can survive there. Consequently there is little food for animals to eat, and relatively few animals live in such an environment. A fire breaks down the canopy and allows the sunlight through, and new growth of numerous plants that could not survive in the shade grow in the sunny environment. Those plants attract animals that feed on them. New growth starts emerging within a couple days after a fire.

I will NEVER defend the Republicans for what they have done. They created this mess. Now they get to own, IMCPO. While I plan to vote AGAINST BO, that is NOT to say I support Republicans or any of their stinkin’ policies.

  • FembotsForObama

$100 million going to non-profit groups like ACORN, who are a part of the mess, is why I told all my Dem legislators if they voted for it, I would actively work against them aside from losing my vote!

I’m glad it didn’t pass. McCain was a success! He at least got them to stop the fly-by-night passing of the first ridiculous bill and force real negotiations. And this was after, Reid publicly stated that they needed McCain! He didn’t say that they needed Obama. Must of been cause they didn’t want the fact that he got the 2nd most lobbying money from Fannie, Freddie et al, in only 4 years and/or just thought he couldn’t get the job done!

Obama just did what he usually does, blew it off. That is until Pres. Bush forced him to come to Washington to participate in doing his job.

The fact of the matter is that Dems are as much to blame, if not more than Republicans, for these subprime loans screwing things up. They are at least equally at fault.

  • http://mbc MBC

We’re not all stupid, many of us watched it all on C-Span and got it straight. The Republicans who voted against the President, the Treasury Secretary, and Nancy Pelosi and Barney Fife, voted the way their constituents wanted them to vote! The constituents are watching! The same reason Hillary kicked ass in the primaries no matter what ads BO ran, no matter how much money he spent. On a side note, I can tell you with at least 99.9% certainty that the people in PA will NOT be voting for BO or any of his minions. Ask Jason Altmire what sort of phone calls and e-mails he’s been receiving? Obviously the $18,000 he received from BO wasn’t enough to make him vote for the bill. (Only enough to make him endorse BO).

I’ve just discovered that the video that is so important that was supposedly removed from youtube is still viewable on another site. Sorry to say that site is rushlimbaugh.com right at the top of the home page. Is this video still up on youtube? Either way if you haven’t seen it you must and you must spread it around. It is congressional hearings on fannie and freddie in 2004 and 2005. This is THE ONE video Obama does not want you to see.

    Peter-

Go call each and every dem who said no. Because had they all said yes the bill would have passed and saved the day. Speak especially at length with Jesse Jackson Jr., Obama’s very close friend and often spokesperson. Find out why they killed this bill.

Good golly . . . this keeps getting worse and worse. We didn’t move forward with the best candidate for President (Hillary Clinton) and now we are all screwed! Seriously. So, Howard Dean, if you are listening . . . you cheated/frauded the wrong candidate into the nomination and now we will all pay dearly. I hope you can sleep at night. Besides, the truth will come out in the Berg lawsuit that Obama is not even a natural born citizen and does not qualify for the office of POTUS.

  • Stephen

A vote for anyone other than McCain is a vote for Obama. That is simply a fact and a function of the pure numbers game.

  • Ferd McBerfle

You should be outraged that our Congress is trying to feed us a crap sandwich and trying to use fear to get it passed.

Yeah, even the obamalobotobots don’t like crap sandwiches but only because or their dislike for bread.

    agree ….

  • It’s Not Me

Fannie and Freddie are just a part of this puzzle. They are not the entire problem…though I agree they are a part of it. Republicans EMBRACED deregulation. Why would they want ONLY Fannie and Freddie regulated and not Wall Street, the Pharmaceuticals, the airline industry, the telephone industry or Insurance companies? There IS a method to their madness. Fannie and Freddie help low income people and we know how much Republicans love poor people. *rolling eyes*

  • Maverick

Never mind about McCains stance. You only want to know so we can put it out there for Obama to swipe as his own plan. Screw it! Not going to tell the secrets here. You are on your own. Obama needs to come up with his own plan for once instead of stealing other peoples even though he has no stance on anything ever! He just pretends by borrowing other peoples stances..what a empty headed loser Obama is!

She brought this to a vote and should have known ahead of time whether it had the necessary votes. Apparently she either had them and lost them in her display of rookie politician or didn’t have them and just decided to further allienate the people she needs to make this work. Do remember that as “speaker,” she is the “leader.” Oh. And her own party members should have bailed her little ass out when they saw it going down.

From Democracy Now – Interview with Kucinich

    http://www.democracynow.org/2008/9/29/is_this_the_united_states_congress

AMY GOODMAN: Congressman Kucinich, can you explain how it is that the Democrats are in charge, yet the Democrats back down on their demand to give bankruptcy judges authority to alter the terms of mortgages for homeowners facing foreclosure, that Democrats also failed in their attempt to steer a portion of any government profits from the package to affordable housing programs?

REP. DENNIS KUCINICH: Well, I mean, those are two of the most glaring deficiencies in this bill. And I would maintain there was never any intention to—you know, well, many members of Congress had the intention of helping people who were in foreclosure. You know, this—Wall Street doesn’t want to do that. Wall Street wants to grab whatever change they can and equity that’s left in these properties. So—

AMY GOODMAN: Right, but the Democrats are in charge of this.

REP. DENNIS KUCINICH: Right. You know, I’ll tell you something that we were told in our caucus. We were told that our presidential candidate, when the negotiations started at the White House, said that he didn’t want this in this bill. Now, that’s what we were told.

AMY GOODMAN: You were told that Barack Obama did not want this in the bill?

REP. DENNIS KUCINICH: That he didn’t want the bankruptcy provisions in the bill. Now, you know, that’s what we were told. And I don’t understand why he would say that, if he did say that. And I think that there is a—the fact that we didn’t put bankruptcy provisions in, that actually we removed any hope for judges to do any loan modifications or any forbearance. There’s no moratorium on mortgage foreclosures in here. So, who’s getting—who’s really getting helped by this bill? This is a bailout, pure and simple, of Wall Street interests who have been involved in speculation.

And I don’t, for the life of me, understand why this is going to do anything to address the underlying problems in the economy, which actually had to do with the recklessness. This is what the president of the Federal Reserve Bank in Dallas said, that—and, you know, I might have the actual quote here. Listen to this quote: he said, “The seizures and convulsions we’ve experienced in the debt and equity markets have been the consequences of a sustained orgy of excess and reckless behavior, not a too tight monetary policy.” This is the Dallas Federal Reserve Bank president, Richard Fisher.

So, you know, we’re getting stampeded here to vote for something that doesn’t help homeowners, that doesn’t do anything about foreclosures, that doesn’t help those people who have been in bankruptcy and are looking for a way out. As a matter of fact, it made sure they can’t get out. So, who’s this for? It’s for speculators. It’s to play a game that provides some temporary help in the market, and, you know, you might see an uptick today if this passes the House. On the other hand, if it doesn’t, we need to be ready to find a way for Wall Street to address its problems without having to tap the increasingly diminishing resources of the federal taxpayers.

The best lies are always the simplest said.

Exactly how was it that a democratic minority blocked republican regulation efforts during all the years that the republicans dominated Congress?

And what about the financial deregulation bills that were voted in with overwhelming republican support, against strong democratic opposition? Those bills tossed out important financial safeguards that had been in place since the days of FDR.

I like that other simply said republican lie, too: Obama is just like George W. Bush.

Also good are the assertions that McCain represents Change, and that McCain is the enemy of lobbyists.

From a policy and voting record standpoint, McCain might as well be George W. Bush; In 26 years, McCain hasn’t changed anything in Washington; and McCain has more lobbyists directly involved in his campaign than all of the other presidential primary candidates combined.

  • dpvegas

I’d be wondering why any of the Dems voted against it. They’re the bloody majority, this is obviously an incredibly vital, serious issue, so why’re they playing politics with it?

Are they supposed to care about the people? Oh yeah, we’re the bitter, clingy sort they despise.

  • wonderwoman

Maybe I should run for office. It’s the only job in the world where you don’t go to work and still get paid, and 6 months of vacation LOL.

  • VMorris

I agree. There were 95 democrats who voted against the bill. Only a handful more were needed for this to pass.

That said, do we really want this to pass? I just heard another set of dire warnings by some democrat telling us how this is good for us. He’s trying to rename it and say it is not a bailout. I forgot what word he used.

I’m sorry. If it walks like a bailout and talks like a bailout, it is a bailout.

I have good credit. Every week get at least 1 dozen pieces of mail offering me more. In fact, I just got one more today. I have several lines of credit. Every week they all send me “checks” that I can use against the account and they encourage me to do so.

That last time I added up all of the max limits on my cards, I think if I wanted to max out all of my accounts at once, I could get something close to 200,000 worth of credit, which is way more than I could ever afford to pay back on my monthly paycheck.

Fortunately, all balances are zero. The only one I use is my Amex which requires that I pay it off every month.

This is nuts. How many more are there out there like me and do they have the discipline to not max out? Obviously not.

If it walks like a bailout and talks like a bailout, it is a bailout.

Between the huge max limits on my credit cards and the new offers for credit I get in the mail and opportunities to transfer high balances in those offers, I could max out my cards, then use the incoming offers to pay them off. Then my old cards would send me more checks with which I could pay off my new cards. If someone wanted to game the system, they could probably live off transfering credit balanaces for years if they wanted to and never pay a dime out of pocket.

Then along comes the bailout and voila! They get it all for free!

If it walks like a bailout and talks like a bailout, it is a bailout.

And after waking up from my nap and hearing that same Representative tell me this is my fault because McDonalds can’t get a loan to buy coffee, the question just popped into my head:

???? Why does McDonalds need a loan to purchase goods needed for its cost of business? Um..don’t corporations put together a budgets an set aside money from their profits in a bank to cover the projected budget anymore? Or do they not budget and live on credit too?

If it walks like a bailout and talks like a bailout, it is a bailout.

Bend over Middle Class. After the Democrats play with the drama of Obama saving the day when there were plenty of democrats who voted it down the first time, you are going to get screwed by the Corporations and you are going to get screwed by your defaulting neighbor who has a nicer home by having to pay off their debt, too.

Oh, and Donkey Brazier, said she understood how people feel because she is in the same boat, but if she doesn’t do the bailout her property values will go down because of her neighbor’s F_ck up. Well, isn’t that special?

Hey, I’ll be glad to bail my neighbor out as long as they sign the property over to me. It’s very easy and fast. It’s called a Quit Claim and it only costs a few dollars to go to your county and sign it over.

If it walks like a bailout and talks like a bailout, it is a bailout.

This is a bailout, it is socialism, it is corpoate welfare and don’t anybody try to tell me it isn’t.

Let me change into my street walker’s attire. I might as well look the part if I am going to get F_cked, on the irony is, instead of being paid for my services I am just getting screwed and paying them for doing it to me!!!

If the bailout passes, then those footing the bill will wind up being whores who give it away for free.

  • wonderwoman

I agree, The swing states never flip until the end. Maybe John McCain has some plan we don’t know about I think he needs to shore up those pink states. But I don’t think even the economy can turn some of these red states, they’ve been red since before I was born. It’s going to be close.

  • VMorris

And the 95 Democrats who voted against it have no culpablity????

Nancy Pelosi locked House Republicans out of meetings. The Dems put togehter what they wanted and expected the Republicans to bless it with no input.

The Democrats are playing politics with our economy.

After 40 years of voting straight Democrat in all but a few elections, my ballot is going to be ALL RED in 2008.

True, but Obama can’t say he brought his party through either. In fact McCain got more republicans to support it. Aren’t the dems in charge.

  • VMorris

This is just BS effing spin. The democrats have a majority. If they can’t convince members of their own party to vote with them to defeat the Republicans it is just as much their fault.

And Pelosi delivered partisan tirade before the vote. She should have just shut her pie hole.

And why is the Democratic leadership so hot to trot to support Bush’s BS?

Why aren’t the Republicans behind Bush?

    You gotta wonder….

  • danielle

I recall seeing a “Democrats for Huckabee” spokesman during the Michigan primary. They knew their votes wouldn’t count in the Dem primary so they were voting in the Republican primary in order to fluff up support for Huckabee, because they believed he would be the weakest Republican candidate.

This was on the Fox news morning show.

So awhile back here it was posted that there would be 5 tapes released each of the 5 weeks leading up to the election. Since this is now 5 weeks before the election and there has been no tape it is safe to assume that McCain’s camp has just decided to lose?

This news is not good for him. His own blog today is full of venom from his supporters very upset with him and with him sequestering Palin.

And what’s scarier is that Pelosi is #3 if something happens to the Pres. and V.P. Actually has me praying that Bush and Cheney remain really well right now.

  • wonderwoman

I didn’t know she is 71. Why don’t people complain about her age. She is in line to be president.

  • danielle

He may be confusing the OFHEO hearing link with the Burning down the house video that was pulled because of copyright infringement.

If you go to C-span and do a search of OFHEO hearing, you most likely will find it.

The republicans could save McCain by acting like they are the robin hoods of mainstreet and turn it around on the dems.

When you think about it why would the government have to pay 700 billion dollars for these banks, they’ve already gone belly up.

  • dpvegas

And their housing markets are right behind, too. When this first started, did some quick research and was actually relieved to know that what’s been happening here has been happening world wide.

Know that’s rather convoluted, just needed reassurance that we (the US of A) wouldn’t be vulnerable to being “bought.”

Dave, McCain doesn’t know anything about the economy, neither does Obama, McCain has always been a fiscal conservative. He was caught off guard by this. It’s a no wind situation. Yes a president has to deal with it, but he hires someone like Romney-even Huckabee has good plans on the economy.

  • wonderwoman

This election is too important to throw away on Barr. John McCain will carry my county anyway, but I’m not going to throw away my vote.

  • wonderwoman

Palin is being savaged in the press. I don’t think her answers are that bad, she just came on the scene.

  • dpvegas

This is corruption and greed by both parties. While I agree that it’s been engineered by mostly Republicans (in name), the major players have been from both sides of the aisle, as well as the occasional third party people.

Reagan loved deregulation, but he had a Democratic Congress his entire 8 years, as did Shrub the First. So, where was the opposition? None of his budgets should ever have passed, if he’d really had true opposition.

This is why I’ve always tried to remain rather independent in my thinking, since that’s really what critical thinking is all about. I question the authority of those who I have voted the privelege of serving me. These people are my civil servants, not my bloody nobles, lords, or kings.

  • Chicago Joe

You mean Pockyston where the Tollybon live.

Obama just came on the scene too but he gets a free pass. It’s disgusting.

Nancy is too arrogant and stupid to realize she is stupid. I bet she believes she’s not done anything wrong.

  • VMorris

    Thanks!!!! shhhhhhh…….

Yup. disagree that it’s John McCain’s fault, but we were planning to sell a house that is our retirement investment. Now it’s worth exactly nothing. There are so many foreclosures in our “LUXURY” community that real estate will be worthless for years.

Nancy Pelosi should be removed from office for her little tirade.

  • http://wiskeytangofoxtrotoscar.blogspot.com/ James (San Jose)

Black is white and fiction is fact at N.Q. 71% of the no votes came from Republicans. Who is the leader of the Republican party? Barack Obama? No, not he. That would be the sitting president George W. Bush. Who is the man who is Running to lead the Republican party? Barack Obama? No, that would be John McCain. Who did the heavy lifting for the bill in the house? That would be Barny Frank, the man who runs the relevant committee in the House.

Fact before this vote went all weepy both McCain and Obama gave verbal support to it.

Fact neither McCain nor Obama sit on the relevant committees that have oversight on this bill.

Fact 60% of the Democrats voted for the bill while 67% of the Republicans did not.

Fact as the Democratic candidate for President Obama carries no water with Republicans in general and none with House Republicans in particular.

Fact McCain was boasting on Sunday on how his leadership saved the day.

Fact McCain spent almost no time on the floor of Congress in legislative maneuvers.

Fact McCain was unable to deliver any sizable amount of Republicans to the yes column.

Fact House Republican intransigence on a capitol gains tax cut and cutting regulations scuppered the bill. The tax cut idea was a poison pill to Democrats as was the insistence on even more deregulation.

Fact the Republican House rebellion started just about when McCain showed up in D.C. McCain’s appearance failed to clam the partisanship.

Fact McCain somehow managed to piss off Harry Reid, the most Milquetoast, compromising, deferential, and spineless excuse for a majority leader in the Senate ever. You have fucked up royally when Harry Reid goes medieval on your ass.

McCain screwed the pooch on the bail out. He charged in and big-footed his way into the discussion with a zero preparation and even less understanding of what was on the table. He did not even bother to read the three-paged proposal of Paulson, never mind the hundred-paged document that Barny Frank produced. No he came in with his own proposal that even he could not rightly explain to his fellow Republicans. What he did was the exact opposite of statesmanship.

Oh and Larry where is the Whitey Tape? October is only two days away.

Look Folks, there are more than 400 economists no fewer than 4 nobel laureats opposed this bill.

Clearly something needs to be done, but it needs to be a pure and transparent bill. Clear oversight that complies with constitutional law and no ACORN crap.

Pelosi needs to shut her Pie Hole and Dodd and Frank, and Maxine Waters to name a few need to be taken out of mix. I think it offends the sensibility of those of us who will pay to stabalize the worlds monitary system that these criminals people responsible for overseeing the organizations at the center of this debacle.

Now it is time to put together a reasoned and sane package that we the people can get behind.

Are you really saying that Jesse Jackson Jr. voted against this?

    That’s strange.

And to me indicates that 0bama didn’t want it to pass. Unless their relationship has changed somehow. Or his constituents put the squeeze on him, big time.

    I wonder……..

  • Country First

Well, I sure am glad the bill didn’t pass if it was a Dennis Kucinich reported. He said that he would vote Hell No, and I guess he did.

For Pelosi to lock all the Repubs out of the closed door meetings, I don’t blame them for voting against it. She needs to go!

  • Country First

I haven’t heard a thing about this on MSM. Has anyone heard the details reported by Kuscinich talked about on network tv today?

  • wonderwoman

Okay James, once again. Your dems had enough votes to pass the bill. Obama wants the bill too, but couldn’t get it passed. What a great president he will be.

  • JozefAL

Uh, dude, the Dems currently have a SOLID MAJORITY in the House. IF the Dems REALLY wanted this bill, all they had to do to pass it was to vote unanimously as Democrats. They didn’t need a single Republican to pass the bill.
I’m not a Republican and I am most certainly not a fan of the GOP’s shenanigans over the past decade when they held control over both Houses of Congress, but, in this case, the GOP are completely without any guilt in the bill’s failure to pass.
By the numbers, there are 235 Democrats in the House, compared to 199 Republicans with 1 vacancy (only 435 members in the House). IF the Dems had voted as a bloc, the bill would have passed. Why is it that the media (and Obama apologists) expect the GOP to make up the vote deficit while absolving Pelosi and her leadership of their FAILURE to get ALL the Dems to support the bill? If Pelosi and her people had managed to round up ALL THE DEMS in the first place, the GOP vote wouldn’t have mattered at all. Could it be that the Dems are playing the same type of politics which Gingrich did that led to a brief shutdown of the Gov’t back in the 1990s and allowed the Dems to regain some of the seats they’d lost? If so, Pelosi’s playing a very dangerous game here. The Gingrich ploy was done nearly a year before the election which cost the GOP some of their seats (although not enough to lose control of either House), not WEEKS before a very crucial election. The GOP was able to get other matters in play to help offset the shutdown failure.
In my opinion, this isn’t much different from the way the Senate Democrats (during their complete minority role) failed to show much resolve to block legislation they opposed by voting solidly against the GOP majority. (As the Senate REQUIRES 60 votes to avoid any filibustering, and the GOP NEVER had that supermajority, the Dems were frequently let off the hook–by the media, but not the REAL progressives who hated the “media-controlled” politicians–whenever a vote to end debate went by without any real opposition. The REAL progressives constantly complained about the Party’s failure to use the minority’s only option–to not allow cloture–to prevent a vote that would inevitably give Bush everything he wanted.)

  • wonderwoman

Maybe Obama would be good for these people, then they could blame him when they don’t get anything, but a high tax bill.

  • Newly Independent

    LOL!!!!!

  • JozefAL

Peter, you really need to change your meds and quickly.
Take a breath and look at REALITY.
The House has 435 members. There are 235 Dems, 199 GOPs and 1 vacant seat. To pass a bill (other than a Presidential veto), the bill needs a SIMPLE MAJORITY–in this case, 218 votes. Now a simple math class can prove that 235 is a LARGER number than 218. The Dems HAVE 235 members in the House. They don’t need ANY GOP support to get a bill passed.
The fact that Pelosi could only get 140 of HER PARTY’S majority to support the bill indicates that something went awry with the Democrats. The fact that the media and other Obama supporters are blaming the GOP for the bill’s failure shows a definite lack of reality is in evidence in Washington. (If Pelosi had ALL her Dems on board the bill would have passed by 300-133. The numbers do suggest that SOMEONE didn’t vote since there’s only 1 vacant House seat.)

  • moi61537

    From powerline:

As of yesterday, the Democrats’ House whip, Jim Clyburn said that he hadn’t even begun “whipping” Democratic representatives, and wouldn’t do so unless and until he got orders from Nancy Pelosi. Today, Democratic Congressman Peter DeFazio told NPR that he never was “whipped” on the bill. So Pelosi evidently left Democrats to vote their consciences–which is to say, vote against the bill if they thought it was politically necessary–while counting on Republicans to put the bill over the top.

  • JozefAL

And what is Biden’s plan to help fix the economy he’s spent 35 years “helping break”?

  • mimi

I gotta believe that. And the key for me was just learning that Jesse Jackson Jr. voted Nay.

0bama and his gang thinks we’re idiots.

Pelosi gets up and pretty much tells Bush and the Republicans to fuck off… In public no less. Can’t believe she expected these people to take such a partisan ‘dressing down.’ Even though I agreed with her I was like WTF? These people are up for re-election. Fuck 0bama and McCain, it’s every man for themselves.

Plus, a lot of voters are calling their reps complaining like hell about this Bill. Remember, it’s the vocal voters that elected officials listen to. If you want them to vote for this, you better call and be counted. If you don’t call, you can’t complain.

But let’s face it, the economic chaos benefits 0bama. I still say Soros has manipulated the market somehow. It was predicted months ago that if in September the economy was the issue, it would benefit 0bama.

    Well, here it is.

Terrorism? The Iraq War? On a back burner. And that was McCain’s strong suit.

I don’t think the average voter is going to be on top of what is really going on here.

    This benefits 0bama.

    Unfortunately.

  • mimi

    What did she say?

  • mimi

    VMorris,

I gotta think that they want this chaos because it benefits 0bama.

It’s a dog and pony show all around. And more of 0bama and the people pulling his strings fooling around behind the scenes with the economy.

You know, people always rave about how FDR saved the country after the Great Depression. And I certainly don’t disagree. But we often fail to recognize that Americans were on the ropes when FDR was elected and as a result, he had a lot of leeway act on his vision.

Maybe somebody is trying to recreate this situation on some level. We all agree that 0bama stands for some pretty radical ideas. Would these ideas be more acceptable if Americans were suffering or on the verge of it and scared shitless, wouldn’t it be easier to accept radical change?

Pelosi’s partisan’s attack resurrected exactly the climate the Dems want at this point 35 days before the Election: one where Bush and his administration’s failed policy are once again front and center making voters so fed up they’d vote for the devil next month simply because he has a ‘D’ in his name.

I’m listening to Charlie Rose and Al Hunt is talking about maybe not fixing this thing until January. If that’s what happens, sorry but I can’t see where people will vote for McCain. Those angry Democrats teetering on the fence, nervous about voting Republican, those ‘undecideds’ will flip for 0bama or do as Donna Brazile ordered: Stay home.

The American people are being played.

    It’s no deeper than that.

  • acorn hater

    A great summary:

An ACORN Falls from the Tree
    A congressional outrage. [excerpts below]

    By Ken Blackwell
    http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=N2Y5MTc0ZTAyMmE1Mjk3NGE3OWRiY2FkMjZlN2YxYzc=&w=MQ==

But here, the Democrats are squarely to blame. They have resisted all attempts at reforming Fannie and Freddie, and pushed those organizations to become ever more reckless in their policies. This made the investments on Wall Street carrying those tainted mortgages go from bad to worse, and now we’re in a crisis and on the verge of a meltdown.

This is inexcusable. And if independent voters figure this out, their outrage over this situation will suddenly be directed against the party that pushed these disastrous policies. So Democrats want ACORN to get as much funding as possible, because they might need some new votes in their column on Election Day.

ACORN is a discredited organization, and far too many of its leaders and workers have been prosecuted for felonies against democracy. The idea that a single dime of taxpayer money would ever go to such a group is an outrage. And Mr. Obama needs to explain his involvement with them.

  • mimi

I thought Jesse Jackson Jr., has a position on the campaign, beside being a friend.

If his ‘no’ vote doesn’t tell people something, then we are really living among the brain dead.

    Wake up!

  • mimi

They’re nutjobs married to the romance of ‘revolution.’ Amy’s lost in a 60′s time warp. She’s still brokenhearted over Allende.

    Please!

When you see 0bama’s arrogance, his upturned nose, this is what it’s about. He thinks Americans are stupid.

And sadly, we prove him right everyday. At least some of us, anyway.

The giveaway for all of you Botheads willfully stubborn in your ignorance:

    JESSE JACKSON JR. VOTED NO!

And he’s not only an 0bama friend, but has a role on the campaign.

Wake up and see the bullshit!

You couldn’t be more wrong! McCain did one of his premature ejaculations by taking credit for passage before the vote was done!

Voters should know who are the guys who changed their vote because Pelosi said mean things about their party. But no ones naming names. I suppose there is some satisfaction and little surprise in knowing that Pelosi can turn Republicans into geldings with spoken words alone.

The Secret Boener 12, castrated on the floor of the US Congress by a few words from Nancy Pelosi — will they form a glee club? (No, cuz that would out them.)

Ha Ha that’s funny since the Senate hasn’t voted yet. Maybe it’s a slip since OB voted present so many times before.
