Pet Peeves

… is when someone tells me that I am flat-out wrong on a statement of fact, not even entertaining for a second that I could be right, and when shown proof positive, still acts skeptical. Or having my personal experience as a woman (or lesbian) discounted precisely because I am a woman (and a lesbian). Oh, yes. That is just one of my all-time pet peeves, and it came up recently with my physical therapist.

My physical therapist doesn’t know that I dwell in the world of politics except when recovering from major surgery (and thanks, everyone, for your support and concern. More on that below…). At my last visit with him, he brought up politics. First, he bashed Fox News, and anyone who would watch “such trash”, claiming they make up news to suit their points, not report the news. I mentioned to him that Bret Baier routinely has someone from NPR on for the discussions at the end of his show (since he mentioned he likes NPR), and that Fox routinely has Democrats on. He said they were only the wimpy ones, though, not tough ones. Hmm. So, you know, they don’t count. Like the current head of the DCCC, Chris Van Hollen, I suppose. Okay. Whatever. Let’s find a way to not let facts influence our opinions. (I might add, before 2008, I had the same opinions about Fox, having never watched it. I believed the spiel from the DNC, Jon Stewart, MSNBC, and others. But they (Fox) were the only ones who treated Hillary Clinton with a modicum of respect, especially Greta Van Susteran, so I started giving them a chance. Turns out, they are not as horrible as the Democrats made them out to be.)

Meanwhile, my PT thinks MSNBC is just fine, naturally, and really only operates to counteract the vileness that is Fox. You know, they are performing a service, see, lest people fall under the spell of that horrible Fox machine. Misogynistic rhetoric by Keith Olbermann directed at Hillary Clinton during the 2008 Campaign was not something my PT noticed, but if there was anything, he suggested that I probably just noticed it since I am a woman. He couldn’t think of any instances in which he heard anything misogynistic from Olbermann at all.

I am not kidding. He said all of this with nary a thought that he could be making an ass of himself, or that he was being just a tad sexist his own self by minimizing my saying something was sexist because I’m a woman. (I wonder if a person of color says something is racist, does his/her saying so automatically mean they are just being too sensitive? Or is this something left more for us little ladies when we cry foul on sexism?)

That set the tone for what came next. The PT insisted that I was completely, flat out, absolutely, completely, couldn’t possibly be right, wrong when I said that that Obama stated there are 57 states, or that he said the Great Lakes are in Oregon, or that his parents were inspired to have him because of the March On Selma, even though that event occurred 4 years AFTER his birth, unless this information came solely from Fox News. You know how we women folk don’t really know nothing and all. Well, I quickly found him an article from the LA Times, “Barack Obama Wants To Be President of These 57 United States,” and asked if THAT was sufficient for him, even reading him this quote:

At a later stop Obama was talking with reporters and expressed concern he’d also mis-stated the number of potential cyclone victims in Burma. He said, “”I hope I said 100,000 people the first time instead of 100 million. I understand I said there were 57 states today. It’s a sign that my numeracy is getting a little, uh.” At that point, an aide cut him off and ushered journalists out. Before he could mis-speak again?)

I asked him if the LA Times would suffice. His response? He would have to look it up for himself. He is sitting there, seeing the LA Times masthead on my computer, but even that was not sufficient. Yeah, whatever, dude. Not only did he refuse to acknowledge any of the above instances of Obama misspeaking, but also blew off Obama’s claim that Hillary Clinton won Kentucky because it borders Arkansas, apparently, not understanding that Kentucky borders Illinois’ Southern border. His explanation? That for the people there, at least, it was a “psychological” closeness, so it made sense they would go for Hillary Clinton. Huh?? Wow. Oh, and I mentioned to him that the MSM did not do its job vetting Obama, that had Bush or ANYONE else, said these kinds of things, they would still be talking about them. Seems maybe MSNBC didn’t provide him with as much information as he thought it did (or Jon Stewart, whom he mentioned as one of the people from whom most young people get their news). Ahem.

And you know what his immediate response was to the litany of “mistakes” Obama made? One thing – Hillary and Bosnia. Right. Her exaggeration of one story is equivalent to all of the misstatements and flat out lies of Obama’s. Gotcha.

But here’s the thing – that example cam tripping right off his tongue, but he knew NOTHING about Obama’s gaffes and lies. That is telling in and of itself, isn’t it?

But that is just one guy. We know there are so many more who don’t notice the sexism because they are not women (according to my PT’s logic). For instance, how about California gubernatorial candidate Jerry Brown denying that a woman being called a whore is as bad as a racial slur? Not only did he deny it, he dismissed it out of hand. He sure does know how to win a woman over, doesn’t he?

I can make it a bit more local. Our SC Democratic nominee for the US Senate, Alvin Greene, was apparently just trying to flirt with a young woman when he showed her pornographic photos for which he has now been charged with a felony. At least that seems to be what his attorney was saying in this Washington Post article when the attorney said this:

“He was attempting to flirt with a young lady who had no interest in him,” Eleazer Carter told The Associated Press. “While the charges are very serious, I think it boils down to, when a lady turns you down, has it reached a criminal offense?”

That’s all it was, people – why is everyone making such a big deal out of it? Sheesh, c’mon, already – you little women need to stop being so sensitive.

Which is apparently what the California chapter of N.O.W. thinks in terms of calling women derogatory names. Yep – turns out they think it is A-Okay. You know what I mean – the Jerry Brown “hey, baby, being called a whore ain’t such a bad thing,” from the recent debate with gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman. WTH??? Add to that Alvin Greene’s “just flirting” assertion, and I just had to share this recent experience. Holy Moley.

And speaking of physical therapy. I am still pretty busy with my daily regimen of physical therapy and dealing with high levels of pain (so, um, that’s my excuse if there are any typos or anything. The PT did say this is what happens when your bone and muscle are cut. It hurts, like being hit with a police baton right on the tibia over and over 24/7 for 6 – 8 weeks. Yep, sounds about right.). I have missed our conversations, but also haven’t been in a place where I can give the time I would like to fully engage. So, thank you again, everyone, for your thoughts and prayers. It means a lot to me. I am working up to writing more regularly, I promise.

    WaaaaHoooooooo! Rev. Amy is BACK!!!!!!!!
I’ll read the post after dinner——great to “see” you.

    Rev. Amy,
NOT that it’ll make me sick…LOL!! it’s just that we’re walkin’ out the door.
Back later…..can’t wait to read your post.

  • susiepuma-still a crazy cracker

Great post rrra – hope you are healing well – ‘they (whoever hell they are)’ say the pain will go away eventually, sooner or later, whichever comes first or second – anyway, take the pain pills – will make the sexism pain not feel so painful

I somehow just keep hoping that all those snide, sniviling, arrogant, boring obots will soon know what women have known for a long time – sperm can be frozen for a long time but only women can reproduce – THEY are not really necessary & the sex is not always so great either…………………………… payback is always such a bitch………………………..

    take care

  • getfitnow

Welcome back, Rev Amy. You’ve been missed.
I was going to post this down thread, but since I’m here, I’ll leave it.

Barbara Billingsley died today–94 yrs old.

  • greenlantern

    Welcome home, Amy!

  • getfitnow

What grates on my very last nerve — the “excuse” that Bo has just been in office for 2 yrs–it takes time–be patient.

I wrote down thread Hillary told a group in CA last night she agreed with POTUS and to just be patient.

they just don’t get it. >:o

  • wodiej crackerdawg

That is why women are my partner of choice. :)

  • ~~JustMe~~

Good to see you back, Amy. I am guessing you are either going to change this PT or shop around for a new one! I’d hate to see good money thrown the way of an Obot!

  • wodiej crackerdawg

RRA, I don’t know what happened but hope you heal quickly. I am not on all the time and so I missed it….sorry.

Thank you for the great post.  I am wondering if that is really ethical for someone who is a professional to be spouting off like your PT did.  In any case, someone as sexist as that sees nothing wrong with it at all.

I would venture to say even the men who seem to be a gentleman still believe that women are inferior. That is why I interact w them as little as possible.  It is difficult for me to stomach being around other women as well who think a man can do no wrong.

My neighbor was telling me one day how she used to wait on her late husband all the time.  I told her I don’t wait on people.  I will fix a meal but I sure am not going to fix their plate and take it to them! She said “well you must not have ever been in love.”  LOL…I laughed and said oh, yes I’ve been in love, but wodie don’t play servant to anyone!  To me that just plays into the mindset of sexism.

  • susiepuma-still a crazy cracker

I think that was a gender thing because I remember my mother waiting on my dad – like she was his own personal waitress or slave – used to make me crazy but after a time I just bit my lip and kept my mouth shut – made my mom upset and my dad would get this look – like what the hell are you talking about?

I don’t hate men – they are the other half of the population and are useful – I’m just not as impressed with them as they like to think we are…………..

  • susiepuma-still a crazy cracker

Sorry – meant to say generational – not gender (altho that played a part too IMO)

    RRRA,

I’m so happy you’re back with a post, but terribly sorry that you have to put up with such arrogance and idiocy in order to get back to normal physically.

Maybe someday this PT will have a breakdown and you can counsel him in the same “intelligent” way that he talked with you.

But, at least the obots I deal with are mostly my family—I just love the stunned silece I get when I prove things to them, like O’s thinking there’s an Austrian language, or celebrating cino de quatro.  I always end these conversations by asking if they like that they voted for some who seems as intelligent as Dan Quayle.

  • Armymom

Sorry, but Dan Quayle is more intelligent. He mispells “potatoe” and all hell breaks lose and he’s labeled “ignorant”. The one mistates all the time and somehow, he’s the most “intelligent president eva”.

    WELCOME BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope that idiot is a better physical therapist then he is a thinker.
The sad thing is that he is not alone. Sometimes I believe critical thinking and investigating are gone for the younger generations.

Something that has driven me crazy for years is a women who lets her husband take care of all the finances with no imput. If something happens to the husband they are lost.
Every person has to find their inner strength, we all have it because someday you may have to depend on yourself only and your inner strength is all you have.

Welcome back Rev Amy!  God bless you and I’m glad you’re doing well.

Rev Amy  the willful blindness about slurs against women doesn’t surprise me I’m sad to say.  De-Nile just ain’t a river in Egypt.  These people will cling to what they believe contrary to all proof.

What’s so sad about their attitude of not seeing is that they condemned Bushbots for the same thing.  Now that they are doing it?   Look over there! More racist Tea Partiers!

It’s amazing these people still exist!  On the subject of Hillary, I’m pleased to see her openly breaking with Obama on various policies and Bill is doing likewise.  I read that Hil spoke at a (sold out) private gathering and took on Obama and his minions for criticizing her accurate remark that Mexico is now just like Columbia when the drug gangs took over that country.  Obama and the Mexican officials went ballistic.  (Obama can’t stand hearing the truth)  I am reading in other articles that the world community considers Mexico to be a “failed state.”

I have a metaphysical question for you. While it is one thing to have a person working with you on the healing process with perhaps a different belief system, but is it not acceptable to have one who would ”deny his maker” ?

  • Daisy Mae

Nice to hear from you, Amy, and so well in the thinking too, for a girl (har har). Hmmm, PT musclehead has you captive.  I would say his attitude is not respectful to a person of your, uh, reverenceness. • sybilll

It’s so good to have you back RRRA!  I hope you opt for another PT, as that type attitude can hinder your rehab.  I am gobsmacked when people worship at the altar of MSNBC, or when they link a MediaMatters video as the unedited gospel.  I have seen MediaMatters distort/edit a story I had seen with my own eyes, yet their minions do not question them.  As for MSNBC, and the cretinish likes of Olbermann, although some of his Palin attacks were atrocious, I don’t think he can sink lower than his remarks about Michelle Malkin, calling her a mashed up bag of meat with lipstick.  But, as the tidal wave heading to November 2nd hits the pinhead graduate from cow college, he may in fact stoop lower than his usual pond scum comments.

Actually Amy, I think your PT is a genius. Think about it. Wouldn’t you just love to run him down and show him what’s what? He’s not only working your knee, but he’s keeping your mind in tip top fighting mode. When you can tackle him in a dead run and kick the crap out of him, I’m sure he’ll say with a bloody grin, “My work is done!”

  • Eastan McNeal

Amy.  You are my Pet Petunia.  Welcome back dear.

  • sowsear

However, this is Yahoo’s take on it:
The event was the culmination of a three-day promotional and political swing for Palin through California — a state where she gets mixed reviews.
A Field Poll released last week found that 58 percent of the state’s registered voters hold a negative view of Palin, although she remains quite popular among Republicans. In addition, two-thirds of independent voters would be less inclined to support a candidate endorsed by her.
The state’s two most prominent Republican candidates this year — gubernatorial hopeful Meg Whitman and Senate candidate Carly Fiorina — were absent from the rally, citing scheduling conflicts. At a campaign stop in Chico, Whitman said she appreciated Palin’s support, without embracing Palin’s views.
“I want everyone on my side,” including Republicans, Democrats and independents, Whitman said

    Rev. Amy

Welcome back!  I read your post twice and I would find a new PT.  He sounds very defensive.  Your well-being should be his #1 priority, and  his political views should have remained private.  Believe me, healing requires both mental and physical strength.  In short, you do not need any more stress.

As far as the pain, take your pain pills especially during PT.  They really help and overtime you will gradually need them less and less.

    Great post……….

My Mom cooked but did not wait on my Dad.  They both worked jobs and he helped around the house too.  I don’t want anyone waiting on me either.  I dont’ hate men, but most seem to be interested in sports, sex and food and little else.  That just doesn’t compute into a meaningful partnership for me.

A side story. Gov Palin made several appearances in CA the last couple of weeks, including the bay area. A local radio host attended the event and said, Todd drove their RV down from Alaska and that’s what they were using as intrastate transpo, including a visit to LA to visit Bristol during her TV dancing coompetition.

Who said, “We get the government we deserve?”

One major thing the TP has done–making more citizens pay attention to their government.

I recall a man-on-the-street interview pre-GE. Some fool actually thought Palin was BO’s running mate.

  • AbigailAdams

RRRA:  So good to see you’re on the mend and best wishes for a full, speedy recovery.  Are you able to be up and about or do you have to stay off your feet?  You’re in my prayers.

Is it possible to request a different PT?  I would find it insufferable to be around that kind of arrogance involuntarily.  Either that, or I’d make it just as unbearable for him — you know in a sort of “grumpy old lady” way.  Surely, you can make him look forward to PT with you as much as you do with him. ;)

  • FrenchNail

RRRA, glad to “see” you back!…

Yes, and the customer is always right. You could remind him of that.

That was my first thought too EllenD. If this PT is so stupid isn’t there a fairly good chance that he isn’t a competent as someone with a real functioning brain?

It’s great to have you back RRRA. You have been very much missed.

One of the things I found helps fight pain is anger. I get so P*ssed off that I forget, for a short time, how much I hurt. Maybe this pinhead PT is doing you a favor and doesnt’ even know it.

But then Obots know so very little it’s hard to tell.

My Dad raised four feminists, and was married to one. But when he came home from a long day at State, the routine was that Daddy got to sit down with his beer, in a frosted mug, and the paper and relax until dinner. If he was greeted  by one or more of his charming, pretty daughters with smiles, beer and paper in hand, he was pleased, and suspicious. He knew that it meant that we had asked Mom and she had said, “Ask your father.” He usually said yes, though. When he retired, he decided to become involved in the household management. He had, until then, confined his management to the garden, where he grew prize-winning roses and lilies. One of the first things he did was alphabetize the canned soups, and informed us that they would be easier to find and would from now on be shelved in alphabetical order. Then he decided to make the dishwasher loading more efficient and held a “class” to explain his new method to his wife and daughters who stood watching and giggling. We had been loading the damn dishwasher for literally decades at that point and didn’t need any instruction. At this point, Mom looked at him and said, “Honey, I married you for better or for worse, but not for lunch. Go find a job, any job. Now!!” He did, went out and worked for Common Cause, among others. Got him out of the house again, which was the whole point. Then he retired again, but thank God, discovered golf. That kept him out from underfoot at home.

Fortunately, I only have 1 or 2 more visits with him (I thought that was going to be my last one, but he pronounced when he came in that he was going to try and get a couplemore visits since we had missed two when I returned from the hospital, and when I had to go see my doc for a follow-up.  You have NO idea how much I had been looking forward to that last visit…).  So, I don’t have to put up with him much longer.  He has been a piece of work from the very first day, though, I can tell you that.  Wow…

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

HEy, Wodiej – I had my right knee replaced in September, hence why I have not been around (and right now am writing with a big huge icepack on my knee).  It’s still a bit hard to concentrate like I usually do because of the pain, hence why my posts aren’t going to be daily for a bit, but I have been dropping by and seeing what eevryone was up to while I am rehabbing.

And you might be right abt the ethics violation.  This man is older than I am, btw, iin his 60′s, and has been doing this a long time, so he should definitely know better.  He began the whole discussion by dissing Nikki Haley, the Rep. gubernatorial candidate here in SC, saying she wasn’t really qualified to run for gov., though she’s just as qualified as the man running for it (she’s a state rep.).  It all went downhill from there.

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

I know, it’s amazing, isn’t it?  I admit, I thought the same thing abt Quayle until I actually did some research on him (for a post I wrote here).  Obama has had WAY more gaffes than Quayle did, but it all depends on how the MSM plays it.  Like I said above, my PT was all too quick to throw out the Bosnia/Clinton thing, but he knew NOTHING abt the gaffes Obama has made.  Why?  The MSM did not report them, or make fun of him on cable news like they did Clinton, or Quayle…

I’m sure there is a transcript.  The article is all over the Web.  Reluctant to see that Hillary is not the shill/traitor you all assumed she is?

  • My Site (click to edit)

And I have no idea what you mean “talking above the words.”

  • My Site (click to edit)

On that issue, I read yesterday L. A. is adopting an official policy that will allow the authorities to start checking on the criminal background of illegals and send them packing if they’ve committed a crime.  See, no one wants illegal people in their country.

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

Thanks, candymarl – and you are exactly right.  They are acting just like the people they once condemned, but heck, they did that when they elected someone for less experienced than Bush was after criticizing everyone who voted for Bush!  Go figure…

Sadly, yes, sexism is very much alive, and rears its ugly head all over the place.  As I said, my PT started it all off by criticizing Nikki Haley for running for governor.  She’s a state representative, and her opponent is a state senator.  They were both elected in 2004.  So, you can see why she is less qualified.  Ahem.

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

ROTFLMAO – good one, yttik!!!  :-D

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

    Thanks Daisy and Teak!

Well, honestly, this guy doesn’t know abt my “reverenceness” either, and I’ll tell you why.  From the get-go, I was not impressed with him.  Not only did I have to call to track him down the first day he was suppsoed to come, but then he showed up HOURS late.  He made some disparaging remark abt how he could go to an elderly woman’s house after he finally got here  because, “what else does she have to do?”  There was more, but that gives you an idea.  I knew I was going to share as little personal info with him as possible, know what I mean?

    Thanks again.

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

Hey, AA – well, I was looking forward to having the same PT I had when I had the partial replacement done.  Unfortunately, she is no longer with that agency, and my area is this guy’s territory.  Sigh.  THANKFULLY, I only have 1 or 2 more meetings with him, and I am DONE.  Halle-damn-lujah!

Yes, I am up on my feet, doing TONS of exercises, stationary bike riding, walking to the end of my driveway (which is fairly long), and then tons of ice, putting my knee up, stuff like that.  There is still a great deal of pain, but that since I am stilld ealing with the osteal pain (of having my bone cut, as well as my quad muscle), it makes sense.  It should start to lessen in a few more weeks.  I won’t be totally pain free until abt a year later, but after a few months, it should be much better.

Thanks for the good wishes, everyone, and for the laughs.  Y’all are the funniest people, and the sweetest!

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

Oh, my, OA – you absolutely cracked me up!  That is hilarious – I love the part abt me tackling him, too – I can just see it now!  :-D

Ah, yes – Pawley Island Hammocks – we went to where they make them every year when I was growing up (we vacationed at Garden City, SC).  LOVED that place.  It’s much bigger now, more shops and all of that.  Sigh.

While I have been rehabbing, we have also been working on getting our breezeway and garage built, so I will actually have a place for a hammock!  How did you know??  Teehee!

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

I sure hope so, jmm915 – 1-11 with RISP??  What the heck is THAT???  Tex and A-Rod need to get their bats going…

    Thanks, too, for the welcome!

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

No kidding, huh?  Again, I should have known where it was all going when he claimed Nikki Haley had no business running for governor here even though she and her opponent took office THE SAME YEAR (2004).  Shoulda known.  It went downhill from there…

It’s hard to feel trust in a person who is so willfully, belligerently blind and abusive of the facts as your PT is.  You are braver than I am in that I never talked politics with my PT after my KR.
Let’s face it, there is always going to be a segment of the population who is too stubborn to admit to a mistake in judgment and will do everything possible to deny the truth, so I don’t waste my time on their ilk.  They’ll be in the same sad economic position I am and maybe that is what they deserve.  I, however, don’t, nor do you!

RRRA, so good to hear from you….and that things are at least progressing for you.

These Democrats are starting to scare me.  They are void of common sense and have only emotions where no facts are allowed.

We encountered similar yesterday at a bday party for a neighbor. Scholastically smart and one was a lawyer, but once they showed they only read the bullet points, not the discovery, they are fake.  One guy did a terrible job explaining WHY they needed another stimulus for teachers, instead of the money there were sitting on and that the family just liked to repeat Democratic talking points.  But when you mention specifics, they got all worked up.

My fav, “what do you expect them to accomplish in 2 years”.  And then shortly afterwards, “you are I are going to talk in 6 months and see what the Republicans have gotten done”. roflmao.  I called them out “WHAT, what do you expect the Dem’s to do with super majorities in all branches and then, you want to see what Repubs can do in onlly 6 months if they only pull off a House win?  I don’t think so”.

It became clear I am feeling very sorry for this admins supporters.  Not very smart.  A further conversation today confirmed it more.  But yesterday, when the one person was sitting there bragging about a system they were a lawyer for for the state, the system my hubby has personal knowledge of and gave detail and history of, the guy got embarrassed and just walked away and stayed hidden in the back room until we were leaving/. roflmao  Becareful who you want to brag and thrown empty talking points out to, there are informed and intellegent folks outside your circle.

“These drug cartels are now taking on a lot of the attributes of these terrorists and insurgent groups we see around the world,” Clinton said Friday. “For the first time, they are using car bombings. You see them being much more organized in a kind of paramilitary way.”
    SOS Clinton.

So foe this BO takes her to task?

What I mean by “talking above the words”, is that SOS Clinton has a gift for having multiple meanings in her speaches and comments, meant for several “audiences” at the sametime. It similar to the early episodes of “ The Simpsons” in which the diolouge was directed at the kids in the audience in a literal sense, but also carried a meaning to the adults watching it as well.

During the primaries, Clinton was taken to task for cracking a joke about “old Russian KGB agents in reference to Vladimir Putin, but if Putin would haved certianly have laughed at the joke and gotten a message about the future with her as POTUS.

Man, that photo of Hillary with the linked article really shows the wear and tear of being SOS in the BO administration.

So for this BO takes her to task?  She has also stated that the national debt is a national security issue. Not that BO has any clue about that.

Welcome back RRRA. I hope you are soon as good as new. I have missed your humor.

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

Thanks, Linda!  Well done inserting some logic into the discussions yesterday and today.  Isn’t it astonishing how people can say two completly contradictory statements in one sentence and not even hear what they are saying?  You totally nailed it on the head – what do people expect the Reps to do in 6 months that a supermajority of Dems have been unable to do for 2 yrs (and don’t forget Dems controlled Congress for 2 yrs before THAT)?  Crazy talk!  :)

    Nice to *see* you!

  • PortiaElizabeth

So glad to see you back in feisty, fighting form, Rev. Amy!

I know, it is so amazing, isn’t it!?!  We now understand too well why we are in this predicament!  And we aint happy about it!.

Continued healing prayers for you.  We need you on the front! :)

My grandmother used to tell the story of her mother-in-law’s advice before she married my grandfather. Great-grandmother told her not to learn to cook or clean, because if she didn’t know how, she would never have to. My grandmother followed her advice and never learned to cook or clean and never had to, but was able to afford staff to do it.

She did eventually learn to cook at the age of 76, since my grandfather needed a low-salt special diet and they were travelling where it wasn’t available unless you cooked it yourself. Cooking isn’t hard, as all her grandchildren told her, it just takes the Joy of Cooking and the ability to read.

I give the Joy of Cooking to all the brides I know. It’s a treasure, even tells you how to dress and prepare game of all sorts. And which meats come from what part of the animal, and how to cook it after you cut it up. It also explains, with pictures, how to do the various procedures that go with cooking, whisking, folding, etc. And it has the greatest recipe for blender Hollandaise I have ever found. No more scrambled eggs, perfect sauce every time. With Joy of Cooking, if you can read, you can cook, and cook well.

RRRA I thought of you when when, on another thread, I had a back and forth with a male who had a nutty conspiracy theory about children’s programming (brainwashing, etc).
    That area is my expertise.
When I countered him with professionalism he ended the exchange by calling me “cute”.
If he had a conspiracy theory about the CIA would he call Larry Johnson’s opinions “cute”?
What about Ferd and science? Would he call Ferd’s arguments “adorable?”
