Fox News Copying No Quarter

I am no longer considered a friend of Fox News. Like DC Media Girl, I appeared in the video OutFoxed and described how Fox was employing propaganda to boost the Bush White House policy agenda. I went after them hard for painting a rosy picture of the situation in Iraq and for promoting the belief that Al Qaeda and Saddam were working hand in glove. But that was then. Here we are five years later and it is Fox News that is doing objective, factual reporting while MSNBC, CNN, and most of the Main Stream Media (MSM) are in the bag for Obama and doing their own propaganda hit on John McCain and Sarah Palin. I never once heard anyone on Fox News say they got a tingle up their leg when thinking about George Bush. Can’t say that about Chris Matthews and Obama.
The media lies continue. The MSM is desperately trying to tar the Republicans with the mess on Wall Street and the bail out of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Only problem–it is a goddamn lie!! George Bush and the previous Republican controlled Congress shared part of the blame for their failure to halt the abuses at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. They gave these Democratically controlled and managed institutions a pass. Nonetheless there were Republicans in the House and in the Senate–John McCain in particular–who did try to tackle the abuses.
But it was a Democratic creation–James Johnson and Franklin Raines, prominent Democrats, ran Fannie Mae into the ground. Congressman Barney Frank, who chaired the House Financial Services Committee, had a boyfriend at Fannie Mae, Herb Moses. Talk about looking for love in all the wrong places. “Moses was the assistant director for product initiatives at Fannie Mae and had been at the forefront of relaxing lending restrictions at the company for rural customers, according to the Feb. 23, 1998, issue of National Mortgage News (NMN).” Then total up the prominent Democrats who were running big time Wall Street firms, like Goldman Sachs and Lehman Brothers. Then look at the millions that were given to Democrats by these firms. And this is the fault of Republicans? I don’t think so.
We have documented all of this during the past three weeks. And it looks like Fox News is paying attention:
If this was 2005 and the Republicans were in charge of the House and the Senate we would and should blister them for their legislative failure to deal with the crisis. But they are not in charge. It is a Democratic House and Democratic Senate. They wanted to be in charge and they have the helm. The American people understand the scam–go ahead, try to blame the minority for the majority’s inability to act. It is a lie, pure and simple.
The unpleasant fact–there is no simple or painless way out of the mess. The markets do have to contract and adjust to purify themselves of the bogus and overstated loans that have fueled the housing bubble. Folks who made millions of dollars off of this scam may have to lose some of those millions. Too bad. But at least the House Republicans understand that they can no longer be the enablers of the Democrats who want to throw money at community groups like ACORN, which in turn become their proxies for lining up voters. It is a corrupt system and the bill is now due.
It is past time to blow the whistle on this scam. Ironically most voters understand this.
