Open Thread * McCain’s Latest TV Ad

OPEN THREAD & “REIN

How hilarious is that. Using Bill Clinton’s smart analysis. Here’s more:

Here’s the one-minute script for our readers who can’t hear video:

ANNCR: John McCain fought to rein in Fannie and Freddie.

The Post says: McCain “pushed for stronger regulation”…”while Mr. Obama was notably silent.”

But, Democrats blocked the reforms.

Loans soared.

Then, the bubble burst.

And, taxpayers are on the hook for billions.

Bill Clinton knows who is responsible.

PRESIDENT BILL CLINTON: “I think the responsibility that the Democrats have may rest more in resisting any efforts by Republicans in the Congress or by me when I was President to put some standards and tighten up a little on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.”

ANNCR: You’re right, Mr. President. It didn’t have to happen.

JOHN MCCAIN: I’m John McCain and I approve this message.

AD FACTS: Script For “Rein” (TV 1:00)

ANNCR: John McCain fought to rein in Fannie and Freddie. The Post says: McCain “pushed for stronger regulation”…”while Mr. Obama was notably silent.” But, Democrats blocked the reforms.

This came in a press release with a gathering of media quotes. While we’re not an outlet for all things John McCain, I do find that a few of these are important to post:

· In 2006, John McCain Said Fannie Mae And Freddie Mac Were “Deeply In Need Of Reform.” “Mr. President, the OFHEO report also states that Fannie Mae used its political power to lobby Congress in an effort to interfere with the regulator’s examination of the company’s accounting problems. This report comes some weeks after Freddie Mac paid a record $3.8 million fine in a settlement with the Federal Election Commission and restated lobbying disclosure reports from 2004 to 2005. These are entities that have demonstrated over and over again that they are deeply in need of reform.” (Office Of U.S. Senator John McCain, “McCain Statement On Co-Sponsorship Of The Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act Of 2005,” Press Release, 5/26/06)

· John McCain Cosponsored The Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act Of 2005. “‘Mr. President, this week Fannie Mae’s regulator reported that the company’s quarterly reports of profit growth over the past few years were “illusions deliberately and systematically created” by the company’s senior management, which resulted in a $10.6 billion accounting scandal. … I join as a cosponsor of the Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005, S. 190, to underscore my support for quick passage of GSE regulatory reform legislation.” (Office Of U.S. Senator John McCain, “McCain Statement On Co-Sponsorship Of The Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act Of 2005,” Press Release, 5/26/06)

· John McCain Co-Sponsored The Federal Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2003 Which Would Have Created The Office of Federal Enterprise Supervision In The Treasury, And Given The New Office’s Director Supervisory And Regulatory Authority Over Fannie Mae And Freddie Mac. (S. 1508, Introduced 7/31/03) …

And here’s the quote from Bill Clinton that the McCain campaign used:

· Former President Bill Clinton: “I think the responsibility that the Democrats have may rest more in resisting any efforts by Republicans in the Congress, or by me when I was President, to put some standards and tighten up a little on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.” (ABC’s “Good Morning America,” 9/25/08)

Possibly the most significant development all year, and no one is covering it. NQ, please publish TD’s story:

She explains, based on intelligence from Expat in SE Asia, how Obama supporters, led by a member of Congress, bribed Indonesian officials and in the process threw the human rights of West Papuans under the bus.

This story needs to be circulated and investigated NOW!

Outstanding. Very effective and to the point. I hope this commercial airs over and over in battleground States .

Is Newsmax a credible source of info? I just got the following about O’s questionable fundraising. Evidently, the FEC is asking for lists of donors. The article states that names do not need to be listed for donations $200. and under; also mentioning that many of O’s many donors never make it to the magical $200. figure. McCain’s campaign lists all donors and amounts. Also some claims about fundraising in the Middle East.

No. NewsMax is not a credible news source. It’s another right-wing disinformation place. They seem to need a lot of those.

  • DAB

An unprecedented and clever approach. Very effective.
It is absurd to blame McCain for the economic meltdown.
By the way, what exactly did Obama do to get a bounce out of this other than pretty much stay out of it. That’s not really what we need in a President.

  • workingclass artist

I read the TD blog…NQ used to post her stuff but the site doesn’t anymore…they don’t link her either but well it’s Larry’s and Susan’s site so they have the right to decide who they want to link and post.
TD still needs to dig deeper…imho…
Berg Lawsuit site Obamacrimes has an additional blog and you can find out stuff there.
All this is gonna blowup soon anyway…almost Otober

  • Perry Logan

In fairness, we have to note that the ad uses the words of one Democrat to hurt another, which is an old Republican trick.

  • scorbs

But we’re still left with the question of why McCain was so feckless or ineffectual in Congress that no one listened to him. It doesn’t speak well for him. And secondly, if Republicans dislike him so much, who are McCain’s allies? How is he going to get anything done?

I saw this article on Drudge about Spike Lee’s film. The Italians are not too happy about this film and Lee and his AA GI that wrote the story. So if Obama becomes President, is this how we will be seen in the world? How is this helping with the US image that Obama believes is so tarnished?

I was in Italy this time last year, was all over the country and can honestly say that not one person was nasty to me simply b/c I was an Americano.

The people that I met said that they love the Americans – they have issues with the Brits. You see, the Brits come there and demand they speak English, whereas the Americans come and attempt to speak Italian, even though they are actually speaking Spanish. They appreciate that we try to speak their language and respect their culture.

Glad to see Spike Lee’s film is continuing that friendly relationship. Check out his comment:

At a press screening in Rome, James McBride, the black American Second World War veteran who wrote the novel on which Mr Lee’s film is based, said: “I am very sorry if I have offended the partisans. I have enormous respect for them. As a black American, I understand what it’s like for someone to tell your history, and they are not you.”

He added: “But unfortunately, the history of World War II here in Italy is ours as well, and this was the best I could do … it is after all a work of fiction, not a history book.”

Spike Lee was also unrepentant, saying: “I am not apologising for anything.” He told Italians that there was clearly “a lot about your history you have yet to come to grips with … This film is our interpretation, and I stand behind it.”

  • IronMan

Thanks for posting that ad! Every American needs to see it! Glad McCain is going national with it.

Now, could this be an upcoming October surprise?

Secret, Foreign Money Floods Into Obama Campaign

    http://www.newsmax.com/timmerman/Obama_fundraising_illegal/2008/09/29/135718.html?s=al&promo_code=6BD9-1

Is the FEC about to put a smackdown on the Obama campaign?

“More than half of the whopping $426.9 million Barack Obama has raised has come from small donors whose names the Obama campaign won’t disclose.
So half of Obama’s money is not reported?”

So $200 million + just from $5 donations? Yeah, Wright!

“Contributions that come under $200 aggregated per person are not listed,” said Bob Biersack, a spokesman for the FEC. “They don’t appear anywhere, so there’s no way of knowing who they are.”

The FEC breakdown of the Obama campaign has identified a staggering $222.7 million as coming from contributions of $200 or less. Only $39.6 million of that amount comes from donors the Obama campaign has identified.

It is the largest pool of unidentified money that has ever flooded into the U.S. election system, before or after the McCain-Feingold campaign finance reforms of 2002.

Biersack would not comment on whether the FEC was investigating the huge amount of cash that has come into Obama’s coffers with no public reporting.

Obama is dirty, and so is his money.

  • http://www.hillaryorbust.com Hillary or Bust

Where on earth did you get that idea? The Obama Propaganda Machine? Gingrich was on FOX last night saying that if McCain hadn’t been there, the bill would have been much much worse.

  • Linda

Newsmax is the Pittsburgh Tribune owner who endorsed HILLARY.

  • SBwa

Not a good source, but the FEC has written numerous letters to the Obama campaign asking for documentation and clarification about their donations. For instance, there was the donation from the Gaza Strip. The last time I checked, Obama’s website accepted donations from over a hundred different countries, whereas most other candidates’ websites would not allow this (I know that Hillary’s did not permit a credit card donation from a card with an address outside the U.S.) Also, there have been a significant amount of donors who have attempted to get around the reporting rules by making many small donations (e.g., if you make 1000 individual donations of $20 each, none of them get reported and you exceed the maximum).

But, I don’t think that the FEC is currently able to do much of anything because they do not have a quorum.

  • Mr. X

Everyone is waiting to see what will come out of the lawsuit. The rest is noise at this point. While Obama paying off the Indonesian government and buying equipment for the school he went to is probable, there needs to be confirmation. The lawsuit is more important because the judge can order discovery of the required material that will be this issue to rest.

  • Jaxxy

Finally! A truly bipartisan event. The fleecing of hard-working, American tax payers. Again.

No one. No. One. No one in our government can claim innocence. Everything we are now seeing, with the exception of the sheer magnitude of it, has happened at least 4-5 times in the history of this country. And it’s always the very same set of circumstances that lead to it. Deregulation (sometimes bit-by-bit over a couple of decades) of banks, brokerages and insurance companies. Concentration of the financial industries into the hands of a few families (the names should be familiar by now) and soldiers-of-fortune (Soros ring any bells?).

We the people should demand a cabinet position dedicated to “State Historian” whose job is to simply understand this country’s history inside out and backwards and intervene with facts whenever the president is asked to sign into law anything that reinstitutes former bad laws.

Where I live, McCain ads appear frequently on TLC, especially during shows like “What Not to Wear.” So yeah, I definitely think he is targeting women. Hopefully they’re paying attention. • portia9

In fairness, we have to note that Bill knows what he is talking about and is correct. Fannie and Freddie and the CRA are largely responsible for this mess, probably more so than Bush is. The housing bubble and mortgage mess is a Democratic creation. Bush and his henchmen shook down the taxpayers to benefit the petroleum industry and military contractors, not the financial sector.

I think you meant Pelosi, not McCain. Don’t forget, the Democrats had enough votes to pass the bill by themselves, but couldn’t because Pelosi and Frank gave a pass to their buddies in contested districts. That was right after her gloriously non-partisan speech about how everyone needed to take responsibility – oops I mean her partisan screed blaming the Republicans for the whole stinking mess when it was really mostly her own party’s fault.

  • http://www.theindependentview.com Matthew Weaver

This is the message, and others like it, that McCain and Palin need to hammer home for the next 30+ days to the election. He’s lost control of the message over the past few days, left charges from Dems on Capital Hill unanswered. Simply playing defense is a game of attrition that will end in losing. I like this ad and hope to see more.

McCain also needs to get back to the pointed character ads.

  • imustprotest

opps, a little harsh don’t you think? It’s true, McCain even used Hillary in an ad against Obama. But I agree that Perry should think about this statement, “an old Republican trick”…..after this primary season, putting labels on parties seems moot….the DNC had the most dirty tricks of all…on their “own” Hillary and the only 2 term Democrat prez in my lifetime Bill Clinton!

Susan, darling. This post just makes me so sad that Bill Clinton is no longer our president. If Senator Clinton had won we’d have this beautiful brilliant man back in the White House where he belongs. I wish he could be President for Life.

I’m feeling very discouraged today that the RNC is not going to slam Obama on Wright and Ayers and Rezko, or if they do, the ads will be short the narrative too rushed and they will be ultimately ineffective.

Here is a story to read…

Unlike Clinton, Biden Gets Pass for Saying He Was ‘Shot At’ in Iraq

When Hillary Clinton told a tall tale about “landing under sniper fire” in Bosnia, she was accused of “inflating her war experience” by rival Democrat Barack Obama’s campaign.

But the campaign has been silent about Obama’s running mate, Joe Biden, telling his own questionable story about being “shot at” in Iraq.

“Let’s start telling the truth,” Biden said during a presidential primary debate sponsored by YouTube last year. “Number one, you take all the troops out – you better have helicopters ready to take those 3,000 civilians inside the Green Zone, where I have been seven times and shot at. You better make sure you have protection for them, or let them die.”

But when questioned about the episode afterward by the Hill newspaper, Biden backpedaled from his claim of being “shot at” and instead allowed: “I was near where a shot landed.”

The senior senator from Delaware went on to say that some sort of projectile “landed” outside a building in the Green Zone where he and another senator had spent the night during a visit in December 2005. The lawmakers were shaving in the morning when they felt the building shake, Biden said.

“No one got up and ran from the room-it wasn’t that kind of thing,” he told the Hill. “It’s not like I had someone holding a gun to my head.”

The rest of the press ignored the flap at the time because Biden was viewed as having little chance of ending up on the Democratic presidential ticket. But even after Biden was selected to be Obama’s running mate last month, his claim to have been “shot at” drew no scrutiny from the same reporters who had savaged Clinton for making a similar claim that turned out to be false.

FOX News has been asking the Obama campaign for details of the alleged shooting in Iraq ever since Biden was tapped to be vice president. Biden campaign spokesman David Wade promised an answer last week, but failed to provide one.

    [read it all at Fox]

BoxerMom, I went to Europe in 2006, and found that people were generally friendly to my husband and me. (I say “generally” because the French people were rather grumpy). However, even in France, there were a few people went out of their way to be kind, even putting up with my lousy college French. So it’s hard to believe that Europeans hate Americans. Maybe they don’t like our government, but there’s a big difference.

  • tillthen

So Perry see this as a trick. Why? That implies deception. What is deceptive about quoting someone? Facts are facts. Did WJC say it? I think so. So WTF is Perry hung up?

  • Perry Logan

    Thank you, wry.

I would thank the rest of you to stop giving me a hard time for rapping Republicans.

Since PUMA began as a reform movement among Democrats, there can be nothing wrong with criticizing Republicans. Nor is there anything about PUMA that says we have to campaign for John McCain or condemn the Democrats for every breath they take.

Right-wing friends come here and blast all Democrats and liberals and say what righties like to say. I don’t hate them, and I’m not calling for them to be banned. I’m just giving them a taste of their own medicine—no personal attacks, but a little hyperbole, a bit of ridicule. They’re fine. I’m fine. What’s the problem?

  • tillthen

Great ad, but what about Rezko and Ayers? My God, these people are dangerous, and to think they could have an entree to the WH with the POS Obama. My dislike for Barky has grown to deep hatred.

  • fif

THAT is an excellent ad! As an independent, formerly pro-Democrat, I am so OVER the hypocrisy of Pelosi & Co. The manipulation of this situation by Pelosi, Dodd, Frank and the rest, for her fave fella, Obama, is beyond the pale. Obama is out there slamming McCain for supporting deregulation, when McCain was one of the few Republicans pushing for reform. I no longer identify as Democrat or Republican. Let’s judge each individual on their records, NOT THEIR WORDS. Look at all the Dems, many of Pelosi & Obama’s allies, who voted AGAINST this bail out. Then she holds a press conference to blame the Republicans alone. The lies must stop. We need to advocate for real reformers, from whichever Party. Let the adults, the real patriots, set the agenda.

  • Dawnelle

    ewwwwwwwwwwww!

Good One McCain/Palin! And Thank YOU President Clinton for trying to be honest. It’s good you’ve learned your lesson too!

Meanwhile, Obama lies every time he opens his mouth and what do you hear?

    Crickets.

  • c17wife

I live in Europe. And I couldn’t give a rat’s ass what they think of America.
America is the greatest nation in this world. Don’t you ever forget it. That is why they come by the millions to our borders each year. No country comes close.
That being said, Europeans are a different breed than us. Being a southern girl, I find them quite aloof. Their younger generation is a bunch of over indulged whiners. The older generation is much more friendly and agreeable.
I live in Germany. The German people are okay. My favorite are the people from the Bavarian state.
I find that the more urban the setting, the more rude they are. In all countries. If you want to experience cordial and friendly Europeans, go to the Normandy region of France. Our flag flies proudly there. Those people remember what blood we gave up to save them. Paris, not so much.
Italy is a crap shoot. I find them quite loud and obnoxious overall. But I have met some dear ones as well. The Spanish are quite fun and seem fairly friendly. I enjoy the Dutch also.

Anyway, didn’t mean to get off on a tangent. Bottom line, we are not Europe. We should never aspire to be like Europe and we shouldn’t give one tinker’s damn what they think of us. Truth be told, 90% would come to America and never leave if we would let them.

As for the ad-it rocks. And it was what I needed to see today to give me a glimmer of hope. Now, he needs to follow it with clips showing Barney Frank and Maxine Waters saying “there is no problem here.”

that’s the second time. he also made a comment about his helicopter being forced down immediately as he was talking about a taliban resurgence in the particular border area with pakistan.

turns out that it was forced down by a snow storm. kerry was with him and said so. but he sure insinuated that it had been shot down.

The American Thinker (I think it was) has a good article on George Soros and Obama and some other rich “Progressives” One is the owner of what else but Progressive Insurance. I will now change my insurance to anything but Progressive.

Also behind this sub prime mess are two other Obama supporters linked to Progressive and Soros. Think their name is Stuart. Anyhow they are behind what happened to Wallache. They made a bunch of sub prime loans to the usual suspects. No job, no credit, no money loans to people. Wachovia bought their California based lending institution for 24 BILLION. We all know where Wachovia ended up. And they ended up lined up with Obama.

Does Obama have any real, regular people in favor of him?

Yes. Clinton should be “President for Life”. How about making him “Bill Clinton, Honorary Puma for Life”? His wit, brilliance and intellectual foresight will be greatly missed while the anorexic resume postures and hums and stutters his way to yet another fraudulent election!

And it was HIllary Clinton who, over a year ago, advocated the Home Onwers Loan Corporation to ensure homeowners get proper respite and further ensure that the current economic fiasco would be prevented. It so happens that last Thursday, KENNETH GALBRAITH AGREED WITH HILLARY’S ECONOMIC POLICY of over a year ago for the HOLCorp…
Ah, what have the misogynist media frat-boys in conjunction with Mr. Anorexic Resume BHO have done….THE FULL CATASTROPHE!!!

It is high time we identify our selves as Americans. Not hyphenated Americans not blue or red Americans.

We need to look at each candidate and vote for the one who will do the best for all Americans and for the future of the nation.

I am an American and I will vote for McCain. I will hold him to he promises and I will work for a better America for all Americans and not just for the next election cycle.

    D Grace.

How true! Charity does begin at home. That’s why Obama has yet to support his starving brother or the school that he opened up a few years ago, which is slowing disintegrating like his Chicago slums. But he did find the charity to donate $50,000 to his Sharia Law islamist cousin Odinga and campaign there in 2006 while Odinga laid out his anti-Woman agenda, with full burqas for girls and stonings for adulterous women only! Then in December, his cousin’s gangs went out and murdered hudnreds, burned 20 Churches and raped hudnreds of girls and burned women aliver! Thanks to Obama’s donation.
But, after watching Obama’s own misogynist histrionics and sexist campaign, why should we have reason not to believe that the Anorexic REsume wanted Sharia Law to work out in the Fatherland. Surely Kenyan women were not thrilled with Obama’s use of his Odinbga donation….
Guess Burqa-wearing women will be in chic fashion if BHO gets in. Actually, he’d look good in one Himself! Just as long as he subjects himself to the same Sharia laws for women….

  • memi

    Perry Logan

It is a fact that what you state is 100% correct. It is, indeed, an “old Republican trick” to pit one democrat against another! Look at the vilification and conspiracy against Hillary Clinton in the 90s by the Republicans who were shit-scared to allow her FDR-type PIONEERING UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE Plan get legislated! Yet now Repubs are actively looking out for the interests of the CORPORATE WELFARE BUMS!

But, also, Perry, it’s fair and true that Obama has viciously attacked via media blatant misogyny and his own juvenile, sneaky-type sexism (see “Obama gives Hillary the Finger”) Hillary Clinton and, now, Sarah Palin!

So, we can say that in politics sexism is a tactic that has been used effectively for all parties. Yet racism is being avoided like hell–as it should be!
the one good thing is that the Repubs are now shedding their old sexist clothing a hell of a lot faster than the ObamaDummies!

The Italians are NOT happy with the Lee film. But don’t forget, Europeans in general, were called by Mr. Obama’s own Campaign Spiritual Advisor, REv. Jeremiah Wright, “GARLIC-NOSED EUROPEANS WHO LYNCHED JESUS”!

So, who’s been left untouched by Obama’s angelic hordes of Misogynist European-Hating Racist tactics? Guess we’re all bunch of bitter, religious, gunloving racists….the ones who ain’t voting BHO come November, eh?

  • http://insightanalytical.wordpress.com InsightAnalytical-GRL

Signs of life, but at the gym I saw McCain talking how a bill was vital and a graphic that Obama and McCain join together in supporting a bailout….

    No mention of ACORN anywhere…

I want McCain to nail Obama and also show those hearings when all this was glossed over….Raines, Waters, etc.

This has got to be nailed on the Democrats a lot harder….

  • K Lynne

Nah, you’re not talking to yourself… Can’t watch this one at work, but I’ll be sure to look for it after I get home!

    Thanks for posting!

  • mary

But, let’s face it. We’re all, most of us, of European stock! And for REv. Jeremia Wright (BHO’s exCampaign Spiritual Adviser) to say in his Sunday sermon that these “Garlic-nosed Europeans lynched Jesus” is….well…so much like yet another Obamyopic statement. The Black Liberation theology of BHO’s Church despises both Americans and Europeans and claims that religion should be Afro-Centric (racist!).

Barry Obama’s background clearly shows what a misogynist he really is. It makes sense that he donated $50,000 to impose Sharia Law via his islamist cousin Raila Odinga who went on to burn churches, rape villagers and create 200,000 internal refugees in BHO’s fatherland of Kenya. ‘
    \
The Kenyan Presidnet complained last Decmeber that Obama was “interfering in my sovereign country of Kenya and Junior Senator Obama knows nothing about foreign relations…..”
Well, Obama still doesn’t know and it’s frightening to contemplate Sharia Law in Washhington…

  • http://nobho.blogspot.com/ Johnny at Work

I saw that interview and was hoping McCain would use that in an ad.

The Clintons were moderates which is why the Socialist Wing of the Dem party Hates them.

There is a core in the Republican party that also is moderate. You can see them during the crisis debate.

The hell with the Dem party. I am nw a Republican, and I hope we can unite with all the other moderate Dems and Repubs.

This election cycle is amazing in how it has revealed the true colors of both Dem and Repubs alike.

  • mary

    Phillymiss

Yes! The Europeans hate GEORGE IDIOT BUSH–not the American people for whom they have affection and gratitude. But they don’t like being called by Obama’s Spiritual Advisor (Jeremy Wright) “Garlic-nosed Jesus-Lynchers”!!!
And you may find it funny, but I can tell you of at least a couple of dozen exDemocrat “European-Americans” born and bred in N.Y. and Florida who will NOT be voting for Barry Hussein Soetoro-Obamarama! Not to mention another hundred or so feminists set to make sure Sharia Law-lover Barry doesn’t get to see the White House next year!

    No way. Now how. Nobama!

ABsolutely. The Obamorons blamed Hillary for starting the war in Iraq almost! And they made fun of her Bosnia sniper incident when, in fact, back then it was risky to even chart a plane and go over there in no-man’s and no-woman’s land! Obama DIMINISHED HIllary with his dirty underhanded sexist tactics like
“Periodically, HIllary feels down and starts launching atacks against me to boost her appeal”! “The claws are comin out”…and his infamous youtube mega-hit: “OBama Gives HIllary the Finger”–doing his disgustingly juvenile insulting rapper-routine flip-offing his fellow female Senator! What a thuggist skinny misogynist piggie….

  • http://nobho.blogspot.com/ Johnny at Work

I am hoping that Palin will use charts, like Perot had during the presidential debates.

She needs charts outlining the Root Causes of th Financial Meltdown, and the cash Obama took from these companies while he and the Dem party stonewalled reform.

Some Charts shoing Obambi flip flops on the Iraq surge and withdrawal would be useful too. Hell, Obambi even flip flopped on whether he would have voted to authorize force, had he been in the Senate at the time of the vote.

A chart for the NAFTA backflipping will score big.

She will score huge by outlining the duplicity of Obambi.

The amount of dollars lost because of the Fannie/Freddie bad loans was around 20 billion dollars. So why does Paulson want another 680 billion $$$$$$$$$?

  • Hap Hazard

The premise of the lawsuit is interesting, but the pleadings by Berg in the lawsuit are so incredibly pedestrian, do not contain appropriate legal case citations, and even have grammatical errors. This usually tends to result in dismissal, and is no doubt at least one reason why the DNC and Obama have moved for dismissal for failure to state a claim upon which relief can be granted (a 12(b)(6) motion). We will see what happens. I would hope that the question never becomes an issue because Obama is roundly defeated.

  • Hap Hazard

I totally agree that the Socialist wing of the Socialist-Democratic Party hates the Clintons because they were too moderate. Never mind that Clinton’s moderation in politics was the only reason why the Democrats won anything since Carter in 1976 — he was still despised by many who didn’t like to see the ideological purity of the left wing of the party be diluted.

Now we see Bill displaying frankness, honesty and perspective, tinged with what I believe is a true desire to put the “country first”, even owning up to some degree for his own decisionmaking on the issue. I am so very proud that he has stepped forward with some honesty, and get a charge out of the fact that he knew full well that his pronouncements might be of political use to McCain. That is the dog we know and love. :)

Didn’t Hillary call herself, Paulette Revere…
“The recession is coming, the recession is coming!”
That was a year or 2 ago.
She is always ahead of all the rest of us.

Hillary was the only dem in primary debates that raised red flags on several things:
This mortgage crisis “freeze interest rates and renegotiate mortgages” she declared in winter 08.
She also called out Bush for trying to do a treaty with Iraq without Senate oversight that would tie up the next POTUS. She asked other dem candidates to join her in stopping Bush. I don’t recall any dems helping her there either.

I like Hill’s idea of HOLC. WE PUMA could begin to raise the dialogue and temperature in favor of HOLC as an alternative to the “bailout of Wall St”
Let’s get behind Hillary on her ideas.
That’s how we can make sure the Clinton wing doesn’t get trampled.
Letters to the editors of local papers is a really excellent way to get the message out.

  • Mr.Murder

2005, who controlled Congress and the White House? And he still didn’t get his reform passed when his party was in the majority?

    It’s certainly the Democrats’ fault.

This is certainly good news for Republicans.

What did you expect Gingrich to say? that McCain was ineffective? Gingrich, like you, wants McCain to win, so you shouldn’t expect anything else. McCain played his grandstanding move and it didn’t work. He looks like an unfocused and confused man, lurching from one position on the crisis to the next. I think the debate didn’t help McCain and I doubt Thursday’s debate won’t be any better. Although, Puma Princess Palin is such an airhead that if she says her name correctly she will be declared the winner and she is your substitute Hillary.

  • BettsAZ

Don’t forget that they burned Clinton effigies and the American Flag…anti-war left in Europe hate America no matter who is the President. The exception, perhaps will be Obama(should he steal the election via ACORN)…until he goes to war with Pakistan like he said he would.

  • BettsAZ

It was the taxpayers who didn’t like the Commie Democrats stealing our money and giving it to the very people who caused this problem in the first place!

Fascists thrive on societal crisis to issue in their takeover…wouldn’t be surprised if this was was an elaborate plan in the making for many years.
Why else is the man who they have “chosen”,who has the least experience of any of the four candidates(not to mention,Hillary),a man who has long term relationships with some of the most anti-American/anti-white/anti-Semitic/ corruption-laden individuals be so close to becoming the President of the most powerful Country in the world?
