I’m ill. They’re GIVING people who made the bad decision to take a mortgage on a home they could not afford, MONEY.

I quote from Sec 110 HR 1424:
(2) MODIFICATIONS.—In the case of a residential mortgage loan, modifications made under paragraph (1) may include—
1 A) reduction in interest rates;
2 B) reduction of loan principal; and
3 C) other similar modifications.

REDUCTION OF LOAN PRINCIPAL!?!!!! Giving them a break on interest rates was bad enough… but… A gift because someone was less responsible than I was and bought a house they could not afford while I rent and save up my down payment?

I want to scream. I will not vote for anyone who votes for that legislation. McCain, Obama… that means you two, too. Now I don’t know WHAT I will do for the GE.

Go, Sen. Cantwell! (My senator, who voted against.)

Way to find that silver lining! This has not affected my decision to vote McCain/Palin, but I am disappointed. If ever we needed some fiscally responsible leadership, it is now; and in my opinion Big John didn’t come through.

I agree that boycotting is a good idea. In fact the bottom line is always money. I have stopped watching almost every channel except PBS and if O-blahma wins I am turning the cable off altogether.

Sure hope you’re right, though.

That explains why the Senate was in such a hurry to go first. So they can vote YES and act like they’re doing something all noble, and then have the House save them.

Of course their speeches are liberally sprinkled with self-congratulation at what difficult decisions they’re making, and how they are thinking about the American people (gag, puke, kutz, hurl)

let the senators pass it. i suspect the house will shitcan it. there’s more at stake, i believe, for reps than for senators – there always is, esp. since too many reps are up for reelection AND every two years. six years is a long time for the public to hold a grudge – two years, not so much. after the public gets a load of the load of crap the senate passes, the reps will be knocking each other down to vote no. just my lil’ ol’ opinion – i could be wrong.

The most amazing (and offensive) comment I heard was Senator Feinstein, who stated that of the 91,000 e-mails and phone calls her office received this week, 85,000 were strongly opposed to the bailout. She then proceeded to say that we were “confused” by the original Paulson Proposal and didn’t realize that what they were now voting on was completely different, and that for our own good, she was voting FOR the bill.

Best speech of the day (and yes, I listened to them all) goes to Jim De Mint of South Carolina, who actually had the effrontery to use the forbidden word “Socialism” in our hallowed halls. I think he even mentioned the Constitution! You’d forget we even had a Constitution if you listened to the rest of these idiots.

The politicians who vote YES today are going to regret it for the rest of their lives.
