Stop the Complaining and Start Helping

OK Team McCain here is what I, a Democrat, want to hear. Here’s what may get my mother’s vote, a lifelong dem voting dem because she knows nothing else and hates negative ads.

And I hope others make this thread something the McCain communications team should want to read. No bashing them because..

I’m sick of complaining. I’m sick of people saying what they don’t like about the ads for John McCain.

I believe in the optimism and positive nature of Sarah Palin. Constant promoting of the good of America is what this campaign needs to do. Not in some old America love or leave it way but in the way Sarah Palin says we’re not perfect but the good far out weighs the bad.

Our number one issue is not the economy or the war. Those are both just symptoms of the underlying issue of our eroded leadership role in the world. To regain the trust and the genuine love of the world we need to sell what is good about our society, what is great about the American people.

Let Barack Obama be negative all he wants. That is all he’s ever been. Let him go negative on your plans, Ignore him. Let him speak about restoring America’s greatness which is another negative statement.

Ignore him completely, ignore his policies, ignore his mistakes and start speaking in ads and speeches about the great future we have. Speak about America as you would sell her to an immigrant from eastern Europe.

Make Sarah’s Optimism and Enthusiasm so viral that we all catch it. I want to see her and John always smiling always happy and never attacking the one who can do no wrong.

And readers. What Optimism would it take to sell your mother?

cross posted from Partizane where we’ll be compiling a list of suggestions for the team.

    Well said, NH.

Well buckeroos unfortunately you need a combination of negative AND optimistic. You NEED to hammer home how this conman was mentored by the elements in our society that hate, are even willing to destroy America. AND you need some adds along the lines of the Reagen Morning in America, warm, fuzzy, feel good nonsence. The McCain bunch has waited FAR to long to define this conman. They started out well, but then either ran out of money or went to sleep. The Obama campaign has now been able to define McCain Palin as old and cranky and young and stupid. THEY let it happen, now find themselves in a hole. Considering how truly vile the conman and lyinJoe are it shouldn’t be THAT hard to nail them. Larry, WHERE is the much ballyhued “Whitey” tape? IF it exists they’d better get it out YESTERDAY. Where are the adds nailing Obama for Ayers, Rezko and the entire rotten bunch that this conman trained under? I’m NOT a repugnantklanner, never was, never will be. But in this ONE instance I definetly see McCain as preferable to what this amoral conman will do to America if he bamboozles, hoodwinks his way into office. Folks REALLY need to look at those videos of the brainwashed kids, ESPECIALLY the one of the boys in cammies doing their cult/militant dance. WAKE UP FOLKS!

The ironic gift to us is that the MSM refused to vet Barack Hussein and even ran cover for him when others tried (Hillary). Now, they’re going to get the vetting in a massive, highly concentrated form that will be unstoppable. I think in the end we’ll be glad it’ll come in such a large, lethal dosage.

  • secularhumanizinevoluter

And as for an add extolling American virtues, how about wonderfully shot images panning across military cemetaries, sunrises and such with stark images of all those crosses and stars of david. After each shot have a black screen with white text naming the cemetary, how many dead are intured and what war. After about 30 seconds of differant cemetaries come up on Ms. Obama and her famous comments about how for the FIRST time she’s proud of her country. Then a black screen with bold white text FOR THE FIRST TIME!?

the truth whether we like it or not is that Negative ads and Negative Propoganda work.

Look what 4 weeks of non stop negative derangement in the Main stream media did to the public opinion about Sarah Palin leading up to debate night.

Frankly i say hit them so hard on every issue that they spend the last month pushing back against wright ayers rezko abortion militans the missouri gestapo hitlerjugend radical ties hezbollah endorsements interfering with iraqi foreign policy the menies from freddie and fannie the race card the sexism that they don’t have time to get their hopey dopey out.

    Negative ads work.

    Thats the facts.

Maybe McCain is waiting for a ruling on the Berg lawsuit. It is beyond stupid that the voting public and the media would even consider supporting a presidential candidate who is unwilling to release the long, long list of relevant documents Obama is withholding, not the least of which is his birth certificate.

Not anymore. The Rezko and Ayers “connections” are eliciting little more than a yawn these days. The election is about the economy. John McCain is for the same stuff that got us here in the first place.

The election’s pretty much over at this point, and every day is a new low for John McCain and his brainless sidekick. The brainless sidekick is going to be campaigning in Nebraska, since it’s looking like Obama could poach an electoral vote there, as well.

    Sure they don’t.

Thats why the left wing netnuts were creating raging firestorms about the pregnancy suit, the rape kit, the dinos 6000 years ago, the witchcraft hunts, and Moose sex smears…cause you know the american people only care about the economy.

The fact is Obama supporters pod people are scared to death that this stuff is going to be used in the final month. They know how utterly undefensible most of it is and how weak baracks pushback against it is.

Their only hope is to convince the republicans not to use it and push the press to ignore it.

Lets flood the airwaves with it and see if the American people really don’t care…

  • McKatmoon

Agree working class artist, NH Good points. There are a lot shenanigans going on, with polls, media etc. nothing new. Bots on overtime as well.

“IT is the thought if we say it enough, it will be true”.

First, polls ( I cannot say this enough) are not a true indication of what is going on; there have been enough reasons given by the way the o campaign has lied and manipulated every bit of this election process, to question every poll you see.

Listen to your gut-if someone is undecided at this point, they have more than likely come from the Democratic party,(maybe a few independents). What is the undecided voter waiting for? I have no idea, at this point every issue is right there to decide on.

Pay attention- I have not heard any Republican (in normal life, not the media mouths) say they would vote anyway other than McCain/Palin.

Much of what is put out over every form of media at this point, is a likely attempt to sway voters, either to introduce a false sense of defeat, or a false sense of victory.

Use common sense- Shouldn’t, any decent democrat running this year be more than a few points ahead? They sure should be. Not everyone voted in the primaries, no one wants to see anyone steal an election, and there are watchdogs all over this.

Keep your own counsel- each of us knows, what we want, and why we want it. When we come here to blog, or any other place, it is a way to share that desire we have in this election, based on either factual or personal reasons, often both. Beyond that, we all know what the smell of sh*t is.

MCCain/Palin want to win, there will be a push to be heard these last few weeks before Nov 4th; for those who haven’t voted early, it will either continue to reinforce their choice, or not. Some will still vote, green or whatever, which is a protest and their right, but it won’t be heard beyond this could have helped one of the candidates, instead of being seen as a protest it will be seen as a tool of aiding possibly the one you never would have voted for.

Action does speak louder than words, as it always has, sometimes, there really is a silent majority. I believe the voice that has been ignored and silenced by the media/press, politicians, and blogs; will be screaming loud on Nov 4th.

    McCain/Palin 08

  • Perry Logan

The sentiment is beautiful, but this positive approach would surely backfire at this point in history.

Let’s face it, everything has gone bad. People are hurting and scared. and many of them are ashamed of what America has become under the Republicans. A big effort to look cheerful might backfire and make us seem like airheads. And even though John and Sarah are OK, they are members of the party that caused this whole mess (and is, true to form, trying to blame it on the Democrats).

The things that most disgusted me about Obama are the dirty politics, corruption, misogyny, and general nastiness of everyone involved. These are the things I emphasize when I try to convert people away from Obama. If I were doing ad campaigns, I’d do ones on misogyny and dirty tactics.

But of course, since Republicans are both misogynists and dirty campaigners, this approach is also tricky. ;-)

    NewHampster,

I wish more undecided voters had your emotional stability and your outlook on America. But I’m afraid we’re at the start of a few years of economic anxiety, some of it grounded on real conditions, some of it based on hype dialed up for partisan advantage.

So if McCain & Palin use the next month just to talk about how fundamentally great America is, it will only serve as fodder for Obama’s politically successful charge that “John McCain just doesn’t get it,” i.e., that he cannot address the economic problems experienced by middle class.

Rather, McCain-Palin (or should I say Palin-McCain?) should:

1 – Campaign on their positive economic program, or tax cuts to promote jobs and budget restraint (vs. Obama’s tax hikes and trillion in new spending,) and

2 – Stress how great this country is, but in the context of a negative attack on Obama, for his many statements characterizing American soldiers as killers, and suggesting that America’s greatness is a thing of the past.

In this context, Palin-McCain should focus on how such statements dovetail with Obama’s association with America-hating scum such as the terrorist Ayers, and the his mentor or 20 years, Rev. Wright.

  • Idiocracy08

I don’t always consider the TRUTH to be negative ads. And I also think that Obama has been nastier than McCain. Show your mother the ad where he’s making fun of McCain for not using the internet. His hands are not clean.

In all reality, McCain isn’t doing enough to shine the light on the true Obama.

I’m not going to vote for a democrat just because I have all my life. I’m not looking at the past elections, where the democrats just took it from the republicans. I’m looking at this election. This election, the democrats have done to the Clintons & Clinton supporters what I’ve always disliked about the republicans. It’s one thing when the other party does it, but when your own party does it to you, and tells you to either fall in line or stay home????? Forget it. All bets are off.

I am very angry in this election. Anger can be good. I bet your mother has been angry at the negative ads and the way republicans have treated democrats. If so, then she should be just as angry at the democrats for all they have done. I feel this anger is showing a love for our country.

I remember in 2000 when many elderly voted for Buchanan my mistake, and that was the last election for many before they passed away. I do understand how you feel because there are too many people who will pass away before the next election in 2012. I don’t want those lifelong democrats to vote for a republican in the last election of their life.

However, I feel that voting for Obama is a vote AGAINST this country. I feel like John McCain and Sarah Palin love this country and would better serve the people. This is all I need & I’m sold. At first, my vote was a protest vote against Obama. Now, I am voting FOR McCain/Palin.

Ignoring Obama is what got Kerry into trouble in 2004. We were screaming for him to speak up. It’s not negative to take up for yourself or the candidate you are supporting.

I will defend McCain/Palin, but I will not build them up into Godlike people they are not – the way the Obots have done. I will vote for McCain/Palin, but there is no Kool-Aid here. I don’t want to sound like the little kids singing to Obama.

It wasn’t any optimism that sold my mother. It was Obama painting the Clintons as racists. My mother is PUMA at heart. My 95 year old grandmother cannot stand what Obama & crew have done to the Clintons. They feel Obama is just like Bush. I’m sorry, but the truth can hurt.

Obama has always been the candidate of the corporate owned media and their Wall Street sponsors!
    ALWAYS!
Fannie and Freddie were the catalysts that led to today’s financial crisis - and Obama has received the most donations from them! But Obama can depend on Obamedia to conceal or downplay these facts.

Obama and Dems are to blame for OPPOSING and IGNORING warnings by McCain, Repubs, and federal regulators that MORE regulation was needed for Fannie and Freddie.

The media has accommodated Obama’s LIES and deceptions by fusing deregulation with Repubs for EVERY ISSUE.
But in the case of the institutions that caused the financial crisis – Dems were more concerned with their own coffers than the looming housing and financial crisis.

With the media’s assistance, the people are duped into supporting Obama and Dems who caused the financial crisis by ignoring oversight – and giving Dems authority to bite the Wall Street hands that feed them.

I am not from the Democratic Party, yet I am undecided. No, not over McCain vs. Obama, but over McCain at all. I accord him his leadership, his commitment, his honor and integrity, his ‘maverick’ status, his courage, and all that. But his performance during the Wall Street Sell Out / Bail Out Economic Recovery Act raised some significant questions against him.

At first I applauded him for breaking off his campaign and flying to Washington to help deal with it. But his performance there and subsequent activities were really little better than voting “Present”. And then he voted for the blesséd thing (which is a whole ‘nother rant of mine).

I saw his leadership there as weak, the praise from his colleagues as contrived, and his touting of the Great Senatorial Bipartisanship as as fraud. Yeah, I have some second thoughts.

I will probably vote for him and for Gov. Palin. But I was so looking forward to not having to swallow my bile, hold my nose, or grit my teeth as I voted. I’ve not had much pleasure in our national elections for a long time.

Did you miss the incredible negative attack campaign that was carried out against Carter during Reagan’s first run at the white house??

Reagan hit carter soft while speaking of hope. The not affiliated groups attacked carter relentlessly on inflation recession gas shortage hostage crisis peanut brother the works.

Also lets not forget, back then the New Media had a little integrity and wasn’t covering for one candidate as the propoganda arm of their political campaign like they are doing for Barkylynski.

As to Perry’s Point about the Hostage negotiations, if Carter hadn’t sent the failed mission in to rescue while he was negotiating he might have gotten the release of hostages himself.

BUt he pissed them off with that stunt and they cut off negotiations with him over that.

Perry likes to forget the nuance as he blasts his republican hate out there.

Yes it would have been nice if Reagan could have negotiated their release before the election but the Iranian’s wanted Carter to lose because of two things:

    1) he allowed the SHah to enter the US for cancer treatment when he was considered a war criminal by the new iranian government…which led directly to the 444 day hostage crisis.

    2) Carter administration was negotiating with the nuts in bad faith as far as they were concerned and sent in a strike force that crashed and burned on iranian soil in an attempt to rescue the hostages.

THey were furious because of it and would not have ynder any circumstances at that point released the hostages.

If Reagan had not started low level negotiations they would have been there even longer than inauguration day.

Frankly, Carter was the shittiest president ever. Even worse than Bush 2. Atleast Bush 2 kept us safe after 9/11.

Can They Catch Up? Of course.
    by William Kristol

Despair is what the Obama campaign is hoping and working for. If a campaign can convince supporters of the other candidate that the race is effectively over, the enthusiasm and volunteer efforts drop off–as does, ultimately, their turnout on Election Day. Just as important, undecided and loosely affiliated voters become persuaded there’s no real contest and lose any incentive to look closely at the candidates. This explains the efforts of the Obama campaign–aided by a colluding media–to sell the notion that
the race is over, that McCain supporters should give up, and undecided voters should tune out.

I’ll tell you what’s making me sick – those of you who think you are such g-d’d experts that you know more about how to time the Obama takedown than the people running the campaign. Who do you think you are? And this crap about being positive is a bunch of crap, and did I mention it’s crap?

This election is going to be a referendum on Obama. Voters (the undecided ones) are not at all ready for that until the last month and not really ready until the last 2 weeks. Hitting Obama with everything in the ammo can before now would have been monumentally stupid. But that’s what most of you have been clamoring for. NO!

Democrats insisted on BAD REGULATION that PENALIZED banks and lending institutions that did not make loans to people who couldn’t afford it.

Thats what the republicans wanted to De-Regulate. The penalty to banks if they didnt loan to the unqualified.

The Democrats stopped any attempt to lift those penalties at every turn.

SO the Republicans tried to raise those standards because they were tooo damn risky. Thats why they called repeatedly for Oversight.

Greenspan warned of impending disaster with subprime if the Democrats didnt get the loan to evey moron program under control in 1997.

Bush called for oversight in 2003.

McCain sponsored a bill that Barney Fuckwit Frank Blocked in COmmittee with party line Fillibuster in 2005.

The Democrats blocked any attempt to reign in and control this while their cronnies who now work for Obama were raiding the kitty for years on this and funneling funds to Acorn and other Democratic Slush Funds.

That forced lowering of standards under penalty of law is what created the predatory lenders.

Predatory Lenders are set up to make loans to credit risky people and then selling those loans as good because they met the Fannie Freddie guidelines that the DEMOCRATS lowered to make sure every idiot had a house.

    The Truth?

The Democratic COngress hopes and Prays that You Can’t find out the Truth before election day.

THE HOUSING CRISIS is the RESULT OF FAILED DEMOCRATIC POLICY!

Two analyses have been done of what the candidates pay their male and female Senate staff. The nationwide average is that women receive 77 cents on the dollar when comparing their compensation to men’s. Biden pays his female staffers 73 cents on the dollar. Obama pays his 83 cents on the dollar. That old guy, McCain, pays his female staffers . . . $1.04 to the male dollar.

    I’ve visited that site often.

Yid With Lid like so many other sites on the net continue to push to get the truth out.

THis is the first election where The Main Stream Media is unapologeticly in the tank for a particular candidate instead of being on the side of the American Voter and making sure candidates are vetted.

Its beyong disgusting and should McCain win, as soon as the republicans regain control of the house and senate we should demand Election legislation that penalizes financially any main stream media outlet that engages in this type of blatent campaign contribution.

  • Idiocracy08

    The stupid, it burns us.

Did Hillary win the nomination while I wasn’t watching? No? Oh, so then “they” were right? Figures.

Funny that you’re so obsessed with Democratic “voter fraud” which generally happens once or twice an election (that’s total fraudulent voters) and not Republican election fraud, which has swung the White House into the hands of John McCain’s role model two elections in a row. This year, though, looks like it’s going to be too lopsided even for the Republicans to steal.

  • C.S.

I don’t claim to know how to win this election but having watched the madness in 2000, I know that it will not be done by taking the high rode.

And I know that if our government can entice us into a war by telling us we must fight to keep our freedom in 2003 that we have never been in more danger of losing it since The War of 1812.

And the last two ruptures to our nation’s unity (Civil War, VietNam War) were caused by ideological and moral differences. This time it’s over an ordinary man with political ambitions offering nothing but his presence; more a pretender to the Throne than a public servant of We the People.

Men like Soertoro/Obama and his followers see rational debate as weakness; we know from the primaries they thrive on controversy and instilling fear through intimidation. This isn’t an enlightening question and answer discussion to determine the best public servant to follow our instructions; it’s a no-holds-bared-fight-to-the death kind of election. The gloves are off. We can’t keep ours on.

    We don’t have to stop pointing out Obama’s flaws and failures to point out the good in America. But Obama has set the tone and the direction of this election since he became a part of the Democratic team and we need to take control of Our election away from him. Stealing the catch phrase from The X Files;

    The truth is out there

and we should find it and use it.

    Ignore that word Perry.

    It doesn’t exist.

We have an agreed upon lexicon of the lowest common denominator for communication amongst most members of society, thats why we all understand what a chair is but differ on what exactly a chair looks like.

But reality is an overblown quantifier that is used to give added credence to the one calling for it’s recognition.

THere is no reality, only controlled and polular collective insanity. SOmetimes that insanity is benign and productive and healthy and others it’s not.

Hitler’s 1930′s Germany was a collective acceptance of national insanity, but it was very fucking real.

Yet many reality apologists claim that he was out of touch with reality. Not his reality. He was very much in touch with it.

Okay, I had a brilliant idea. What if we all write the Presidents of Columbia University, Occidental and Harvard and ask them to check their files to see if Obama applied as a “Kenyan” citizen? I already emailed President Bollinger of Columbia to say “if he is a true patriot, and cares about America, he should look at Obama’s file and divulge what he knows”. His email address is: officeofthepresident@columbia.edu
I ENCOURAGE EVERYONE TO GET AN EMAIL OUT TO THESE THREE COLLEGES IN THE NEXT 24 HOURS, DEMANDING THAT THEY VIEW OBAMA’S FILE TO SEE WHAT HIS CITIZENSHIP IS. I stated that if they found he put any other citizenship, other than American on the application, he has a legal and moral obligation to let the proper authorities in the US government know.

Ok i hate to be the one to come to Perry’s Defence, but i kind of have to.

Here is the deal on Perry.

    Perry is a Democrat.

Perry is a very Strong Bill Clinton Supporter.

Perry was a fairly strong Hillary Supporter.

Perry does NOT support Barack Obama.

Perry Hates the Republicans for what they tried to do to Bill Clinton.

Perry is also pretty disgusted with the Democrats themselves for what they did to Hillary Clinton.

Now while Perry dispises Barack Obama he cant help but laugh at the Republicans now that the Assholes crapping on everyone are Democrats and the Republicans are getting a taste of their own medicine.

Unfortunatley, Perry has to accept that the enemy of my enemy is my friend and he is struggling with that currently, but i guarantee Perry will not be voting for Barack Obama on election day.

However, lets not forget the republicans pulled some pretty shitty and shadey shit on the Clintons…Perry is right about that.

Yet, i am not willing to hope the country pays the price for that by allowing the Obama freaks and their dirty handlers take over.

I suspect if pressed very hard Perry would agree.

But lets not forget, many of us are still democrats voting for McCain, so we have differences with republican policy…but with 30 days left we are all going to have to come to terms with what our priorities are and cast a vote based unltimately on what values are most important to us.

Personally, its a no brainer for me.

FOr a lot of loyal party democrats though who have grown up in a culture of republican vs democrat hate, its a tuff decision to cross party lines.

Ads that inform and passionately communicate the TRUTH should never be labeled “negative”. That last word sets up a moral quandry: the good, hopeful candidate vs bad, skulking one. Telling the TRUTH to the American people about this UNQUALIFIED, ILLEGITIMATE, AND AMORAL man (candidate) might get the teller into some territory that, well, stinks, but TRUTH must follow where the facts lead. John McCain, our future President, get yourself out there on that trail, pronto.

    1. Hammer viewers and listeners with the anti-American words of Obama, his wife, and his dearest American-haters — always in their own words. Make those images of America-haters front and center right next to Obama so that when Americans go into that voting booth they see these people if they dare to move their marker to the Obama choice. Make these ads into a “coherent” narrative in a series, keep them coming one after another defining Obama as the anti-American that he is and always has been.

    2. Ad for ad balance the TRUTHS above with John McCain’s words about love for, pride in, and hope for America, especially a passion for the traditions of America. Find a few phrases that tell a stirring story about John’s service to, devotion to, knowledge of, and hope for America. In different ads match McCain’s words with those of Theodore Roosevelt (conservation, busting destructive financial powers, and loving American strength) FDR (financial and war crisis), Eisenhower (military service, creating a strong, economically vibrant America), JFK (maybe — some thoughts, devotion through military service, concern for the strength of America, and love for America’s leadership role in the world), Ronald Reagan (faith, hope, change, strength), Bill Clinton (maybe — working with Republicans on a number of issues for prosperity and jobs). McCain should be identified as one of these American heroes. Americans should have these images before them as they poise their marker for their choice in the voting booth.

George Soros and his ill gotten billions are behind the candidacy of Obama. I believe that there was significant planning behind both this horrendous financial crisis and the simultaneous candidacy of Barack Hussein Obama.

    If the financial security of the American middle-class can be destroyed, then new centers of affluence can be developed;

    if all those ill-gotten gains sitting in the pensions and savings of Americans and the equity in their homes can be transferred to deserving minds, then they can transfer the wealth to world citizens impoverished by America;

    if the weapon to erase those resources is giving credit to poor people who can pay nothing back and disguising the resulting “assets” as valuable securities for buyers around the world, then there is a wonderful irony to the downfall of the greedy American;

    if we can tie up all America’s energy resources in a “no-you-can’t-use-it” bundle and send billions to buy energy from its enemies, then that is a delight;

    if you can scare Americans and “affluent” westerners into believing in “global warming”,(woops! the earth is not warming?) or rather “human-activity-caused climate change” due to run-away CO2 emissions (woops! the sun is primarily responsible and CO2, necessary for all life, has been many times more abundant in the past?), then their jobs and tax money can be stolen from them and high prices and new fees can be imposed;

    if we can keep US borders open to illegal aliens of all sorts, then American citizens will lose jobs or will find their jobs stripped out from under them and then there are new voters for the anti-American cause;

if we can convince schools not to teach necessary subjects, demand appropriate discipline, and require learning as an outcome, then we can have an uneducated, silly (hopey-changey-paradisy) populace. If; if; if — there are many more of these “conspiracies”.

IF ALL OF THE ABOVE IFS ARE ACCOMPLISHED, and many are well on their way to success, THEN WE (pseudo-progressives, anti-democracy socialists, marxists, maoists, black nationalists, islamists — with the Ruskies help) WILL POUNCE. They all hate with a passion democracy, freedom, transparency, accountability, and a strong, resiliant middle-class. They all hate the U.S. with a passion and most use an anti-war stance to disguise their plans.

Soros’ new book, “The New Paradigm for Financial Markets: The Credit Crisis of 2008 and What It Means”, displays the poisonous mind. He marches out for all to see the multitude of Americans’ hubris and mistakes, financially speaking. Then he declares that the Thatcher-Reagan era has come to a grinding halt. “So what does the end of an era really mean? I contend tht it means the end of a long period of relative stability based on the US as the dominant power and the dollar as the main international reserve currency [and]…hopefully…the emergence of a new world order.”

And the US will not be leading. Take that, you slime-ball, America, you Satan.

I think John McCain needs to communicate this conflict that has dangerous implications for the values and life we love and the hope we have to share it with others in this world.

  • BernieO

I agree that they have waited too long to define Barack as inexperienced and tied to corruption. McCain SURROGATES need get on this.

But I don’t think optimism is enough, either. He has to speak our forcefully against the gaming of our system by his own party. ONLY MCCAIN HAS THE CREDIBILITY AND COURAGE TO FIGHT CORRUPTION AND CRONYISM!!! He needs to man up (like Palin ha ha!) and get back to fighting corruption – which is rampant in our government and stop pandering to his base by praising guys like Phil Gramm. McCain’s base may not love him for it, but he risked his career to fight the influence of the fat cats in politics and he needs to reclaim that mantle YESTERDAY!

His argument needs to be that no economic policy will work until we clean up the crookedness in the system and restore trust. He should promise to restore competence to government, depoliticize departments, particularly Justice, stop political prosecutions, institute reasonable regulations and real oversight of the financial sector.

McCain rightly called for Chris Cox to step down, but did not explain why. He needs to be a lot more specific about what has happened and what he will do to fix it. This approach applies to the war, too. The Bushies appointed inexperienced, twenty-somethings who opposed abortion to rebuild Iraq rather than experienced people. Palin made a point of saying she appointed competent people regardless of their political background, but McCain has not. McCain needs to speak out about this now even if the base doesn’t want to hear it. It is not enough to let Palin say it for him. He needs to point out how he has taken this on in the past, get out the story about what Palin did as governor, AND that Obama has never once taken this kind of risk.

At the same time, his surrogates should be pointing out Obama’s willingness to get into bed with corrupt people like Rezko while McCain is hammering the message of fighting corruption.

Palin had the guts to do this and the base loves her. They hated McCain for doing the same thing, but since they have now gotten burned they should be more receptive to this message. Everyone, including the fat cats, suffer when the fox is allowed to guard the henhouse.

Why McCain was right about Chris Cox (a MUST READ):

Sorry my blind friend, but you fail to address all the other aspects of the swindle.

“Did Hillary win the nomination while I wasn’t watching?”

You weren’t watching. It is tres amusant how you insipid children FAIL to address the points raised and actually refute them point by point, e.g. intimidation, the abrogation of the rules that govern the process. Voter fraud is just one aspect. Your continual evasion and inability to refute said points, etc. just puts on display the impoverishment of your position.

The fact that you attempt to exonerate your swindle by citing what you see as someone else’s swindle is the precious Jack and Jill argument of 5 year olds.

Since Jack did some bad thing, Jill is free to do that same bad thing. Uh, the point is that in both cases they are still unacceptable.

NewHampter, either you don’t GET it- or you think that being nice to going to win an election. I preach goodness and faith and in this election the evildoers are entangled with the airwaves that suppose to work in our favor but instead are backing Mr. Obama. Our airwaves have chosen Socialism to govern us. So the pretty face of Palin is not going to work here or the big Soldier image of Mccain is not going to work here neither. The facts are these: The New York Times- makes excuses for Obama concerning Ayers, Msnbc makes excuses for Rev Wright and if you don’t vote for Obama you are a racist, Cnn has only ONE show worth looking at and it is call Beyond Politics- A conservative faith show that discusses Morals in our country- But, Cnn shows this ONE show late at night- YES- this one show that could be the number 1 show worth looking at by us. It is Fair and Balance. Instead, they put Roland Martin and Brazile who are so up Obama’s ass that they have become part of his colon, and the disqusting Caffery who needs a bath and clothes washed, and is promoting Obama at every turn. And now I read YOUR article that we have to stop using dirty politics? Are you serious? 30 days and Obama is stealing this election and you want Palin and Mccain to use clean politics? The hell with that! Keep showing his associations, his limo sex, his crack days, and his bigot wife. Let me give you a good example what is going on in Florida. In Orlando a Comedy act near Disney World was playing- They had an act concerning Mccain and Obama. When the comedy person came out looking like Mccain, the audience booed him out and threw things on stage, when the comedy person came out as Obama, cheers, crying, screamings were heard all over the room. 500 people! The individuals that were offended left the comedy show- but there wasn’t too many. People are in a spell and the ony way to get them out in 30 days is to show this man iniquities- When their hero and savior is finally shown to the people that he is thug, a threat to our country, a bigot, a sexual lustful individual- the disappointment is noted with the people, and the spell is broken. Not with NICE ads!

Senator McCain has shown a genuine, heart-felt commitment to serve this country. He works in a bi-partisan fashion. His word is his bond. He speaks often against waste in government. He has been humbled by life, and has empathy for others, and our veterans could have no better ally!

Jesus kept you safe not bush. Bush screwed us and you know it. Iraq was fundementally stupid. No i don’t think we should leave iraq but that’s because i’m a realist who knows that they will come after us if we leave and don’t fix what we shamefully broke. I just don’t have issues, with ‘how we look to the rest of the world’ like most dems. I’m black so i know I don’t speak english because the brits went to Africa and formed a love train and taught us the wonder of english over our native tongue, and china and russia didn’t get that big through peaceful negotiations with their neighbors, they did what all countries and empires to gobble up smaller counties and exploit the hell out of them and drive them into extinction for a little fun. Germany and Italy should be bitch slapped the first time they open their little Anti Sematic “we must have fell asleep with the nazis were killing jewish people” selves. I actually stayed awake in history class read the books too and continue to read. So the UN can’t and doesn’t empress me with their ire about iraq, all of them have a sordid history of expoiting other countries and can kiss my trans-atlantic slave traded ass. so while what we did in Iraq was naugty, a whole lot less than what some of these raping and pillaging those fools have done. but it was a stratigic blunder that puts us in a tight position should we ever pull out Iraq, because if we leave iran will come in, an will be sitting on top of an even larger amount of oil and they don’t like our behinds and are relgious fanatics. and since i am on of the few chrisitans who will admit it, relgious people are irrational. I believed someone walked on water, and according to all laws of physics that just damn impossible. Sadaam was a god in his own head, which means you can make him staying out of your way worth his while but now you are dealing with a group of people you have no chance in hell of stopping through peaceful means and righteous indignation and karma’s a bitch. So we have to stay in iraq and spend money we don’t have because he screwed up big. No one has attacked us out of luck, not because the dolt is some stretigic genius. mcCain is right if we leave we will have to go back, and then fight iran. So now our military is tied up in defending a group of people, whose dead leader had just the right amount of evil to control them, and scare Iran. Well we could ask russia to go communist again. The USSR knew how to lay a proper slap down on that region. no religon period, screw with us we will kill you or make you wish you were dead. God how i miss those days.

Unless McCain is holding out some massive game changer this election has already been decided. The MSM elected Obama months ago. The same way that they elected Bush in 2000. They are not going to let anything disrupt their storyline. McCain wrongly believed that the media would side with him because he is Republican. Well, not this time. The fact that the MSM has gone all in on Obama is proof enough that he has America’s worst interests at heart. The Media cares only for corporate America. It could care less about America’s citizens.

The next debate is tuesday night. Millions of Ameicans will be watching. I look for McCain to be locked and loaded with plenty of ammo against Obama and eventhough it is a townhall type format, McCain knows how to hit Obama and hit him hard and I thin khe will. I believe he will unleash it.

At a recent townhall event, someone asked McCain to please take the gloves off. McCain replied, “How about tuesday night…” and the crowd went wild!

People are just now starting to pay attention to the race.

Obama’s campaign has announced today that they intend to attack John McCain with new ads on monday (tomorrow) to try and pre-empt what the McCain camapign is going to do.

Translation – Obama is scared of being exposed by the truth.

Obama can’t defend his relationship with Ayers and his missing-in-action record as a US Seantor.

He has done nothing for Illinois or for We The People. It is time for him to be exposed.

Sarah Palin is the perfect one to be hitting Obama right now. My local news even covered her comments and talked about Obama’s relationship with terrorist Ayers alst night. So word is starting to get out.

On tuesday night, McCain will be ready and will take it to Obama.

Then we’ll have one final debate the following week.

There is so much to unleash on Obama. You can’t fire all your rounds today. This is going to build and build and build up to the last debate. That is when McCain will knock Obama out for good.

Constant promoting of the good of America is what this campaign needs to do.

That’s a good start. The other thing the McCain/Palin campaign should do is to tell the truth about Oblockhead and air the facts, dirty or otherwise. Hell a one-line question during the debates would go a long way towards getting the truth (or self-evident lie) out of Oblockhead. One such as, “How is that legal action concerning your qualification under Article II going, Senator?” The leading questions that could be asked are limitless. Oblockhead does not perform well on his feet and would certainly make a mishmash of any answer. It would also make him furious, as he doesn’t take kindly to having his plastic godhood questioned. Can’t think on his feet; gets angry when confronted–the two keys to the debate.

Yep. The convention seemed to be the catalyst for waging war against nonBO supporters.

My boyfriend and I have been on different sides since Hillary suspended. I have told him all along that I’d never come over to the Barrakula side. We still got along and he seemd to understand my choice until the convention. Once Hillary gave her speech and threw her support behind Ofraud, apparently the bf thought I’d come on over. I still said no and now it’s been a nightmare.

Concur, there has been a wave of troll posers and they still post often, NQ regulars, are easy to remember, often the opinion has remained the same for them; they are informed, they troll fight, and are usually not anti-republican(may have issues but understand the common ground we are all on against O).
It is an attempt, to attack the site, make it appear(as always) we are divided, and can be driven by some imagined fear to vote for O or throw in the towel, losing our minds believing the spew of the msm and “polls”.

The bloggers who attack every pro McCain opinion are transparent, never having a good thing to say about anyone but O.

Have some faith in the McCain campaign; whatever the means they choose to go about dealing with the remaining weeks of this election are geared towards solidifying those who are going to vote for McCain/Palin(some of us since the dem primary have been in this spot); but more so wanting to get the votes of the undecided.

Anyone who wants to use the hogwash of a single issue, to vote against McCain, perhaps should take the time to look at why they have a record to look at or an actual professed opinion, versus the void of no recorded information of a personal life, very little more than being against the war by stating so in a speech, having a “present” vote commitment, but nothing further and spending nearly the last two years using a campaign as the “experience” to be claimed to serve as our president-this is all the O campaign has to offer. A man who went to college, went to work with questionable people as a community organizer/attorney, then constantly ran for office after that. That’s what we are looking at.
I’ll take my chances on real proven experience, maybe with some errors, but damn better having a ticket of people who are committed to this country, not just a bunch self serving idiots like the o campaign.

Stop the Complaining and Start Helping.

Is very important that people understand that until the issue of ‘privilege’ inborn in the EMPLOYER/EMPLOYEE group health care insurance is undermined, health care in the U.S. will not be resolved.

The privilege relates to the ability of the employer to hire a young healthy work force. The E/E group limits its exposure to catastrophic illnesses and long term illnesses.

The two tier E/E and the rest of the ‘universe’ is counter productive.

Obama’s health care proposal simply does not work. Specially does not work for blacks and Hispanic women. They are more costly to cover.

The question of how Obama will extend Congress’ coverage to the population at large remains undefined.

But the question that covering the uninsurable will be extremely costly under the two tier system is obvious.

One oversight that Larry, Susan, Diamond, Batchelor and the others who keep doing pieces on Bill Ayers tend to leave out of the loop and picture is Bernadine Dohrn. Dohrn is Ayers joined at the hip partner!

Obama and his campaign have constantly stated is that the illegal activities of Ayers occurred when Obama was 8 years old, maybe so, but Dohrn was still involved and went to jail for activities in the 1980′s, serving time during the period when Obama was being interviewed for his Chicago DSC position.

Dohrn worked in the early 1980′s for a store called Broadway Baby which would use checks and credit card receipts to steal and funnel money to the group of Black Panthers and Weathermen who killed the cop in New York. Although never charged on this crime, due to lack of proof, Dohrn’s participation in criminal activities went beyond the early 1970′s and was known in NYC during the time Obama lived and went to school there!

So Ayers is lip service, Dohrn is the criminal activist to really fear, and who happens to be good friends with none other than Michelle Obama!

Want to be worried, just go back and figure out who presented the Weatherman’s Manifesto to give you the reasoning to worry!

  • MaggiefromMichigan

My mother needs to understand the truth about Barack Obama beyond a shadow of a doubt. This can be done via 527 commercials or by RNC. She is a lifelong Dem. And she currently perceives all the bad things said about Obama to be questionable. Plus she gives him a lot of latitude anyway.

She watches MSNBC,CNN, some C-SPAN and never Fox News so I consider her to be essentially brainwashed by the media.

And I agree that John and Sarah can continue to be positive. But they both need to take the gloves and tell the American public the truth about Barack Obama in a factual professional way. Many Americans would come to perceive that as strong leadership and protecting the American public once again.

I also think that Sarah and Todd should be allowed to come to Michigan for visits like she recommends. Many McCain supporters are feeling abandoned and they could use some support as they try to convince family and friends to vote for McCain.

Our state was totally mistreated by the Dems and it would have been nice not to have John McCain withdraw in such a publicized way from our state. This mistreatment by the Dems could have been capitalized on by the Repubs if they had thought to.

It would be fun if the only people who voted were Obama, McCain and Bill, Hillary and Chelsea. We’d know where the Clintons stood when McCain wins 4 to 1.

McCain and company are losing because they have no actual ideas. Instead of running on the POW and hockey mom platform, they need to present real solutions to real problems facing everyday Americans. Obama has and that’s why he’s winning. McCain can go negative all he wants. The electorate is a lot smarter now than they were 8 years ago. These attacks won’t work because we’ve all seen them before. Obama smells like smoke because he’s walked through fire. Hillary threw the kitchen sink at him during the primaries, yet he still stands stronger than ever. McCain either can’t or won’t give any definitive plans other than drill baby, drill or lower taxes. In these hard times, that simply isn’t good enough.

    WE HAVE TO STRIKE BACK

As much as talking and discussing what McCain should or shouldn’t have done is kind a helpful, I think the real HELP each one of us can do is to DISCUSS ISSUES with our friends, neighbors and relatives and convince them to support McCain. Better still we can distribute copies of articles or videos about Obama’s relationship with radicals like Ayers, Wright, etc. They are all over the internet. If each one of us here can send out 100 copies of such articles and ask our friends and relatives to do the same, imagine how many people we can reach.

FYI, last week, I got a phone call from Michelle O asking me to support her husband. During the weekend, I received an early voting material from the same campaign. From the McCain camp, nothing.

Negative ads work because it is easier to change a positive opinion in the negative direction than vice-versa, although there is also a resistance from those who have invested emotionally (either way) to change, and the greater the investment, the harder to change. And you saw some greater performance from The One? I could not disagree with your assessment more. McCain in my view was a major force in getting Republican input at the table and in making significant changes. The Republicans were clearly the ones who got rid of the ACORN giveaway which I think was one of the most significant improvements. And how important that was becomes more clear every day. Repubs were also the ones who got the concept of work-out instead of bailout up and center. McCain’s problem was that he was trying to make that a demonstration of bi-partisan congressional work but the other side was no way going to join him. Why? Because they could see the economic issue was playing their way and they wanted to ride it to the WH.

What I have noticed in the debates is that Obama can employ a lot of negative and snarky rhetoric on the campaign trail but when he is face to face with his opponent on TV, he pulls his punches. He did this with Clinton and he did this in the first debate with MCCain. He does not like being attacked. And by the way, I do not mind negative attacks if they are based essentially in the truth. I do not like negative attacks that are lies. To me that is what a Swiftboat ad is—based upon a lie. Pointing out Obama’s pattern of associations with radicals that most Americans would not want in their neighborhood—that is not a dirty trick to me.

You don’t play nice with people like Obama:

Get informed and spread the word about his connections to the corruption that has brought down our financial stability:

    NY Post
    OBAMA’S DANGEROUS PALS
    By STANLEY KURTZ
    September 29, 2008 –
WHAT exactly does a “community organizer” do? Barack Obama’s rise has left many Americans asking themselves that question. Here’s a big part of the answer: Community organizers intimidate banks into making high-risk loans to customers with poor credit.
In the name of fairness to minorities, community organizers occupy private offices, chant inside bank lobbies, and confront executives at their homes – and thereby force financial institutions to direct hundreds of millions of dollars in mortgages to low-credit customers.
In other words, community organizers help to undermine the US economy by pushing the banking system into a sinkhole of bad loans. And Obama has spent years training and funding the organizers who do it.
THE seeds of today’s financial meltdown lie in the Community Reinvestment Act – a law passed in 1977 and made riskier by unwise amendments and regulatory rulings in later decades.
CRA was meant to encourage banks to make loans to high-risk borrowers, often minorities living in unstable neighborhoods. That has provided an opening to radical groups like ACORN (the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now) to abuse the law by forcing banks to make hundreds of millions of dollars in “subprime” loans to often uncreditworthy poor and minority customers.
Any bank that wants to expand or merge with another has to show it has complied with CRA – and approval can be held up by complaints filed by groups like ACORN.
In fact, intimidation tactics, public charges of racism and threats to use CRA to block business expansion have enabled ACORN to extract hundreds of millions of dollars in loans and contributions from America’s financial institutions.
Banks already overexposed by these shaky loans were pushed still further in the wrong direction when government-sponsored Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac began buying up their bad loans and offering them for sale on world markets.
Fannie and Freddie acted in response to Clinton administration pressure to boost homeownership rates among minorities and the poor. However compassionate the motive, the result of this systematic disregard for normal credit standards has been financial disaster.
ONE key pioneer of ACORN’s subprime-loan shakedown racket was Madeline Talbott – an activist with extensive ties to Barack Obama. She was also in on the ground floor of the disastrous turn in Fannie Mae’s mortgage policies.
Long the director of Chicago ACORN, Talbott is a specialist in “direct action” – organizers’ term for their militant tactics of intimidation and disruption. Perhaps her most famous stunt was leading a group of ACORN protesters breaking into a meeting of the Chicago City Council to push for a “living wage” law, shouting in defiance as she was arrested for mob action and disorderly conduct. But her real legacy may be her drive to push banks into making risky mortgage loans.
In February 1990, Illinois regulators held what was believed to be the first-ever state hearing to consider blocking a thrift merger for lack of compliance with CRA. The challenge was filed by ACORN, led by Talbott. Officials of Bell Federal Savings and Loan Association, her target, complained that ACORN pressure was undermining its ability to meet strict financial requirements it was obligated to uphold and protested being boxed into an “affirmative-action lending policy.” The following years saw Talbott featured in dozens of news stories about pressuring banks into higher-risk minority loans.
IN April 1992, Talbott filed an other precedent-setting com plaint using the “community support requirements” of the 1989 savings-and-loan bailout, this time against Avondale Federal Bank for Savings. Within a month, Chicago ACORN had organized its first “bank fair” at Malcolm X College and found 16 Chicago-area financial institutions willing to participate.
Two months later, aided by ACORN organizer Sandra Maxwell, Talbott announced plans to conduct demonstrations in the lobbies of area banks that refused to attend an ACORN-sponsored national bank “summit” in New York. She insisted that banks show a commitment to minority lending by lowering their standards on downpayments and underwriting – for example, by overlooking bad credit histories.
By September 1992, The Chicago Tribune was describing Talbott’s program as “affirmative-action lending” and ACORN was issuing fact sheets bragging about relaxations of credit standards that it had won on behalf of minorities.
And Talbott continued her effort to, as she put it, drag banks “kicking and screaming” into high-risk loans. A September 1993 story in The Chicago Sun-Times presents her as the leader of an initiative in which five area financial institutions (including two of her former targets, now plainly cowed – Bell Federal Savings and Avondale Federal Savings) were “participating in a $55 million national pilot program with affordable-housing group ACORN to make mortgages for low- and moderate-income people with troubled credit histories.”
What made this program different from others, the paper added, was the participation of Fannie Mae – which had agreed to buy up the loans. “If this pilot program works,” crowed Talbott, “it will send a message to the lending community that it’s OK to make these kind of loans.”
Well, the pilot program “worked,” and Fannie Mae’s message that risky loans to minorities were “OK” was sent. The rest is financial-meltdown history.
IT would be tough to find an “on the ground” community organizer more closely tied to the subprime-mortgage fiasco than Madeline Talbott. And no one has been more supportive of Madeline Talbott than Barack Obama.
When Obama was just a budding community organizer in Chicago, Talbott was so impressed that she asked him to train her personal staff.
He returned to Chicago in the early ’90s, just as Talbott was starting her pressure campaign on local banks. Chicago ACORN sought out Obama’s legal services for a “motor voter” case and partnered with him on his 1992 “Project VOTE” registration drive.
In those years, he also conducted leadership-training seminars for ACORN’s up-and-coming organizers. That is, Obama was training the army of ACORN organizers who participated in Madeline Talbott’s drive against Chicago’s banks.
More than that, Obama was funding them. As he rose to a leadership role at Chicago’s Woods Fund, he became the most powerful voice on the foundation’s board for supporting ACORN and other community organizers. In 1995, the Woods Fund substantially expanded its funding of community organizers – and Obama chaired the committee that urged and managed the shift.
That committee’s report on strategies for funding groups like ACORN features all the key names in Obama’s organizer network. The report quotes Talbott more than any other figure; Sandra Maxwell, Talbott’s ACORN ally in the bank battle, was also among the organizers consulted.
MORE, the Obama-supervised Woods Fund report acknowledges the problem of getting donors and foundations to contribute to radical groups like ACORN – whose confrontational tactics often scare off even liberal donors and foundations.
Indeed, the report brags about pulling the wool over the public’s eye. The Woods Fund’s claim to be “nonideological,” it says, has “enabled the Trustees to make grants to organizations that use confrontational tactics against the business and government ‘establishments’ without undue risk of being criticized for partisanship.”
Hmm. Radicalism disguised by a claim to be postideological. Sound familiar?
The Woods Fund report makes it clear Obama was fully aware of the intimidation tactics used by ACORN’s Madeline Talbott in her pioneering efforts to force banks to suspend their usual credit standards. Yet he supported Talbott in every conceivable way. He trained her personal staff and other aspiring ACORN leaders, he consulted with her extensively, and he arranged a major boost in foundation funding for her efforts.
And, as the leader of another charity, the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, Obama channeled more funding Talbott’s way – ostensibly for education projects but surely supportive of ACORN’s overall efforts.
In return, Talbott proudly announced her support of Obama’s first campaign for state Senate, saying, “We accept and respect him as a kindred spirit, a fellow organizer.”
IN short, to understand the roots of the subprime-mortgage crisis, look to ACORN’s Madeline Talbott. And to see how Talbott was able to work her mischief, look to Barack Obama.
Then you’ll truly know what community organizers do.

As a true freethinker, I’m proud to cast my vote and support for Obama. McCain has provided the same tired neoconservative talking points and lame duck solutions that Bush and Cheney forced down our throats for the last 8 years. This country has been teetering on the brink of self destruction because of it. The economy is in the tank. We’re fighting 2 wars, one just (Afghanistan) and one not (Iraq). Osama Bin Laden is still free instead of rotting in jail or dead. This country is in dire need to true change, be it Obama, Hillary or any other democratic candidate with the exception of John Edwards. Voting for any neocon is just like a chicken voting for Col Sanders. It makes absolutely no sense. You see, I do think for myself. I don’t get my thoughts and ideas from a blog run by a neocon xenophobe. I use faith, reasoning and common sense to guide my ways and actions. You may not want to hear this, but God is truly on Obama’s side. Why do you think that these allegations against him never stick? Obama has God watching over him. Not Allah, but God. Good morning person who understood the point of this post. I wasn’t trying to push mushy ads, except for my mom who won’t watch a movie if there is one 4 letter word.

I just want us to throw out ideas we think will work in the last 30 days for each of us or our moms. Dads don’t matter do they?

  • Astra14

NewHampster, thank you for the article. You want a positive, I’ve got one. I went to the store this morning – and I live in a college town – and there are now more McCain/Palin signs than Obama (actually I only counted 2 for Obama this morning!). The kids may be waking up or have stopped drinking the Koolaid! Big change since the primaries when everything was Obama, Obama, Obama – not any more!

    MCCAIN/PALIN 08
    HILLARY 2012

History tells us that negative adds work! The Obama campaign has for months been defining McCain as “old, out of touch and Palin as brainless”, which has been hammered home on the late night shows. You will note that it wore down a considerable amount of McCain support. Obama must be defined as to what he really is, not some messiah who has come to save us from ourselves. It is almost beyond understanding, how this cult like creature has been able to capture almost half the voting population of this nation. Its not the economy we need to worry about. Imagine Obama as the Commander in Chief. We have two wars on going, Iran going atomic, North Korea restarting its nuclear program and Pakistan in chaos and they are already nuclear. Does that not scare the sh*t out of you . The economy will mean nothing if the world goes up in smoke.

I also made a comment referring to the Berg lawsuit and it didn’t show up.

What I said was, maybe McCain is waiting for a ruling before he lets loose.

Not by me but I would guess it is because Berg is a crazy bed bug and this place though it may agree with his effort does not want to be associated with him. Had this been another lawyer, different story.

He has zero credibility and has allowed himself to be used too many times.

    BREAKING!!!
    BREAKING!!!

ASSOCIATED PRESS (NO LONGER A NEWS SOURCE) ACCUSES PALIN OF BEING RACIST!!

THE RACE CARD COMETH AS SOON AS THE REPUBLICANS MENTION AYERS!!!

“The four weeks that are left are an eternity. There’s plenty of time in the campaign,” said Republican strategist Joe Gaylord. “I think it is a legitimate strategy to talk about Obama and to talk about his background and who he pals around with.”

Palin’s words avoid repulsing voters with overt racism. But is there another subtext for creating the false image of a black presidential nominee “palling around” with terrorists while assuring a predominantly white audience that he doesn’t see their America?

In a post-Sept. 11 America, terrorists are envisioned as dark-skinned radical Muslims, not the homegrown anarchists of Ayers’ day 40 years ago. With Obama a relative unknown when he began his campaign, the Internet hummed with false e-mails about ties to radical Islam of a foreign-born candidate.

Whether intended or not by the McCain campaign, portraying Obama as “not like us” is another potential appeal to racism. It suggests that the Hawaiian-born Christian is, at heart, un-American.

Most troubling, however, is how allowing racism to creep into the discussion serves McCain’s purpose so well. As the fallout from Wright’s sermons showed earlier this year, forcing Obama to abandon issues to talk about race leads to unresolved arguments about America’s promise to treat all people equally.

Objective Journalism…stick a fork in it its done!

IMHO there are sufficient choices for him if he really has any interest in pursuing a socialist agenda first hand to see what it is like for the “little” people. Any time he wants to sell all of his earthly possessions and renounce an ownership soceity, he is free to do so. Getting back is the real delimma. I am tired of his rants. McCain rightly called for Chris Cox to step down, but did not explain why. He needs to be a lot more specific about what has happened and what he will do to fix it.

I agree. BernieO: You should submit your suggestions to the contact link on the McCain site. McCain said he was going to take the gloves off on Tuesday night–we’ll see. It’s now or never.

Good article. I vaguely remember CNBC complaining about the SEC and Sarbane-Oxley standing in the way of the free market. Seems like they went through a couple of different SEC heads. Didn’t we have Harvey Pitts for awhile? Anyway, add not regulating Wall St. to Bush’s list of accomplishments.

The commission’s most public role in policing Wall Street is its enforcement efforts. But critics say that in recent years it has failed to deter market problems. “It seems to me the enforcement effort in recent years has fallen short of what one Supreme Court justice once called the fear of the shotgun behind the door,” said Arthur Levitt Jr., who was S.E.C. chairman in the Clinton administration. “With this commission, the shotgun too rarely came out from behind the door.”

This is a classic example that, yes, bad things will happen if free markets are given he freedom to regulate themselves. Uhm, that’s why the SEC was created in the first place. So much for saying no one could have seen this coming.

    To McCain camp:

My advice for when McCain or Palin bring up Obama and his “terrorist” pals, is not to joke about it. Do not get sarcastic anywhere near it. Do not be frivolous about it.

Change your tone of voice, and say it like it seriously concerns you and explain why it is important to talk about it. (But don’t be hokey–just be real.)

Don’t always give me “palling around with terrorists,”….give me: (with reverence): America, there is something we need to talk about…/ I know Americans have been talking about this…/ For a very long time now, some in the mainstream media have avoided certain aspects of Obama’s history, I believe many Americans still have unanswered questions and wish Obama would answer them…/ (Go BACK to when Hillary ran against him, and she kept saying she had been vetted, but Obama wasn’t getting VETTED–and think of her tv ad in PA: People have questions–maybe you should start answering them)…/ It’s important to inform the voters…it’s an ethical responsibility…/…

Get real, republicans. Obama would have control of “the button,” It is NOT all about the current economy. Fight for the USA. I liked when Palin said that it isn’t passed through our bloodstream–we have to actively defend and fight for America, etc…

SO: also be positive and inspiring. Show us sweeping camera shots of our BEAUTIFUL country…the mountains…the prairie lands…pacific cliffs…the deserts…Show us how big and beautiful this country is–how special it is. (You know, a tone like those Planet Earth videos) Revere America. ALSO: show us a medley…maybe slightly abstract…of REAL people…someone sitting on a city bench or on the subway…then a farmer working…then a man opening the gates of his little store…a woman walking into a classroom before the bell, putting her bag on the table or maybe erasing words from the chalkboard…then on and on… I don’t know…I just want to see more of America.

(I know this post is scattered. Just dropping ideas!)

  • lark

Freethinker. You are a freethinker. One can always arrive at a point after by fiat. Freethinker.

  • Astra14

I’m getting immune to that now. At first, I was getting angry about seeing it in the media and on the various blogs, but not any more. All my AA friends know I’m not a racist. The reason I won’t vote for Obama has nothing to do with racism – so why get angry. I know why I’m not voting for him.

I’m more angry that the media is pulling this crap! That they’ve lost their credibillity. They were supposed to be helping protect us and our liberties and be objective and balanced. Supposedly they are losing readers/viewers – haven’t seen any links on that – but I wouldn’t be surprised at this point. There are still a lot of people out there that can still think on their own and see through their nonsense.

Actually, it’s starting to remind me of school kids. Let’s throw insults and see if we can get the other guy to back down and join us. The trolls have been doing it, Obama has done it, the media is doing it. Me – I waaayy passed the schoolyard. Not a college grad, went to work straight out of high school, but I do have a brain, which I’m not afraid to use. And all this nonsense Obama, his cult followers, backers, and media pull only reinforces why he is not getting my vote.

So media, keep calling us freethinkers “racists” and keep driving us to McCain! Keep inferring Sarah Palin is a racist. You’re only going to bring in the ones with a guilt complex. Just like O’s trolls thought if they could use abusive language on Hillary supporters we’d vote for him – sorry only those suffering from Stockholm Syndrome would fall for that. We all don’t suffer from these. I’m voting for McCain with a clear conscience and no guilt.

I agree the American people should be informed that Obama will not produce his birth certificate.

Sarah, I would the American people told is this so that they can analyze Obama’s character for themselves:

    1) Obama was appointed by Bill Ayres to head the Chicago Annenberg Challenge and as head he controlled 160 million dollars.
50 million dollars and “The Challenge” came from the well intended Ambassador Annenberg. The Challenge was to improve the educational opportunity for Chicago School children. Well intended taxpayers and citizens tossed 110 million into the fund.

Obama filtered the cash to his friend and political allie Bill Ayres, who had set up a receiving organizations .
The bottom line is documented, absolutely no improvement in Chicago Schools. Schools that requested some of the money for Science or Math improvements were told “NO”. But Obama proved to the “Chicago Combine” that he could play the game, and so his career progressed.

    2) Obama, campaigning to be a State Senator, promised to work tirelessly to provide the residents of Chicago’s South side a garden. When Obama got control of the purse strings he gave the 100,000 dollar garden money meant by well intended taxpayers to a political supporter, who in turn gave $80,000 of it to his wife and, I guess, kept the rest. No garden was never built, the wife lied, said she did “site prep” and the reason no one could see it was because it was all under ground. There were no building permits of any kind ever issued but one man came forward to say she paid him to remove some trees and use his “skidster?” to level the ground.

    3) I don’t know what he promised the residents of the South Side in order to get elected but I do know that when elected he took taxpayer money, available because well intended Americans wanted to improve living conditions for those forced to live in Chicago slums, and gave it to his pals, most notably Tony Rezko. The pals kept the money and let the buildings go, but one helped Obama buy a Historic Mansion he couldn’t afford.

I am not up to speed on his US Senate career, but I bet anyone can find this pattern there.

Here are three events in Obama’s public life that have been documented and demonstrate his character.

And further, since his friends know him I bet they are already setting up “dummy banking businesses” so Obama can “bail” them out.

Sarah I know you recognize this bull shit for what it is, please call him on it.

PS I know this comment is too long and no one will read it, but I hope it gets to the McCain campaign.

McCain is not running against Obama, he is running against the media. The economy and the war are my issues and my families and neighbors. We have watched the national debt grow, trade deficit grow, watched the wealthy get wealthier while the middle class gets screwed. I watched McCain sign a bill that my family gets NO benefit from and only negatives. I get no benefits from either candidates wishy-washy ideas.

The media made THE issue the economy. The media made THE party of solutions the Dems. McCain’s campaign used humor well. The McCain camp made Obama a serious candidate when they took him seriously. McCain erred when he signed a bill which screws the middle class, he showed he didn’t get the middle class and he was a liar about pork.

McCain better come up with a solution for my pocketbook or I won’t be voting for him either (I was sure I was going to until he voted to screw my family) I am as sick of ‘unrepentent terrorist’, ‘white flag of surrender’, Obama’s a scary ‘liberal’ as I am of McCain=Bush. It’s bullsh!t. McCain should have run against Bush/Cheney and the Repubs should get off their asses and quit their lame party talking points and start with some specific goals. I want solutions. ‘I’m going to reform govt’ Oh really? How?

THe political shows are so on kool-aid. They are saying attacking BO”s character won’t work. I completely disagree. Yes. Well seven years later we have a man running for the the highest office in the land who has missing years in his biography, nepharious at best associations, a quick rise to power from seemingly nowhere -(oh and let us take a closer look at who helped him along – Frank Davis Marshall, Rezao, Al Mansour, Ayers, Rev. These groups also need to examine BOs character—his slipperiness, his petulance, his authoritarian nature—because these character flaws are revealing and important.

Rassmussen has Obama ahead with 51% of the vote.

BUT, Rassmussen says that 6% of that vote is soft, with voters saying say they may change their minds.

Obama has at most, 45% of the vote.

Obama’s numbers were between 45-48% before the financial crap hit the fan.

No, I did not see anything from Sen. Obama. The “call me if you need me” arrogance, the pique at the possibility that the debate might not happened as planned (and, oh! the inconvenience of perhaps rescheduling it!), that it took a Presidential summons to get him to actually do the job for which he was elected – no, no, that behavior was contemptible on the face of it. He was/is wholly beneath consideration.

That I was misinterpreted for not having explicitly stated this is instructive of how brittle and divisive our politics have become. If you are not with me, then you’re against me – that’s the REAL Bush Doctrine, Gov. Palin, and I hope that he is always remembered for riving the American public so thoroughly.

One thing I’ve discovered while talking to friends and the undecided woman I met at the Palin rally yesterday:

A lot of Democrat women are unhappy with the Democrats this year, unsure of what to do, but very ISOLATED and surrounded by Obamabots. These women need to be reached out to and spoken with, one on one. This is why it’s important that we start speaking up and not being silent in groups of Obamabot friends. There are reports that many women are just saying they are voting for Obama to keep from arguing with those they love. So if you speak up it gives them an opportunity to talk to you and find out that good people are not voting Obama.

Funny how you, fluffly bunny, mention press conferences because that is all Obama knows to do. The comment traced Obama’s character through the 100K park, through the CAC and the slums of the South Side. In all cases he handled the money, his friends got richer and he gained political power.

In the end I suggested his friends might be setting up “banking businesses” so Obama can “bail” them out when he gets control of that money.

Thanks for the email. My response….

    Wow –

Can you see up there? I mean really. You have your head shoved so far up the rectum of Obama that it must be getting difficult to even breathe. You must not know that you are helping McCain and Palin with your continued bias, in-the-tank-for-the-ONE “news” coverage. American’s are much, much smarter and aware than you give us credit. I have never ever voted for a Republican. Never. But, when the media outlets continue to push Obama on us like they did WMD’s it makes us stop and go “hmmmm?”. Keep it up. No really. We want McCain/Palin to win by a landslide, a fricking landslide. This election is about two things now, thank you very much, a referendum on Obama and a protest against the media. You checked the mass media’s ratings lately? Mmm-kay so then you know all cable networks ratings have fallen below number 19, except for FOX news. FOX was rated number 2. Hmmm. Wonder who is watching FOX? Newsweek’s subscribers fell by how much? NYT’s circulation, what is that these days? Yes, please, please keep it up. You are a joke and a has been and after this election hopefully non-existent.

Gotta go set my TIVO for Hannity tonight. He is having a special show on Obama’s “special” friends. I guess I am a racist too because I don’t trust a man who could not pass a basic security clearance based on his past let alone be POTUS. Put the bong down man and do your job.

As I have watched McCain during this long election season, I have come to admire him even more and I have a new monikker for him besides his Maverick one. It is “General” McCain.

McCain is a battle-tested, nerves-of-steel, Naval Academy, combat veteran genius. Last year, pundits tried to declare him DOA/RIP during the Repub primary. Pundits are once again trying to declare RIP. It won’t work. McCain is a brilliant strategist, make no mistake about it.

McCain’s campaign said he was going to “scramble the jets” in his VP pick, which he first coyly brushed off, then picked Palin which threw his opponent off-balance. McCain scrambled the jets again two weeks ago before the debate, once more throwing his opponent off-balance. McCain is a gutsy, bold guy. Keep the faith and stand strong behind the General. He knows what he’s doing. He’s just toying with Obama.

It seems like what passes for “bipartisanship” on the extreme left and the extreme right is cramming THEIR side’s agenda down the OTHER side’s throat. JMO.

  • athena

That happens sometimes. Especially when there are so many people here posting. Try typing in WORD and then copying and pasting here in the future.

Is that for me? I am a NY HRC supporter and NEVER for Obama, EVER.

“Let Barack Obama be negative all he wants. That is all he’s ever been. Let him go negative on your plans, Ignore him. Let him speak about restoring America’s greatness which is another negative statement.”

Johnson, clean up your shop, NO QUARTER has become a reality distortion field.

Even the dogs in the street know that McCain is short on cash, slipping in the polls and thus has to go and is going very, very negative. He’s looking for Obama’s Willie Horton. Forget Ayers, he’s too white to be threatening, you need an Osama.

As long as Rassmussen continues to give him a 63.7% chance of winning Obama will continue to play Jesus and appear to remain above the fray. It worked on
Clinton and he’s betting it will work on McCain.

Do you people realize you are on a sinking ship…?

I am so glad you’re DINO’s and I guess by extent RINO’s…? it will be so nice to see this blog implode after election day as everyone rushes to eat each other. Bunch of hate here, lots of hate…

Obama will win handily – much larger than anyone cares to admit, you know it – you can feel it…

Hey maybe a self-support blog will spring up in it’s place.

    What a bunch of zeros…

    I Betcha…! :)

Polls do not relay facts any more than your posts relay truth. Shove your polls up your backside right next to your silly pin head. There’ll still be room in there for Kelvin and Free-dumb, your fellow-traveler trolls.

To me, the number one issue is whether the U.S. will remain a superpower. Or will we fall to a former superpower?

There will be no economic revival, no healthcare, no education, no tax breaks, nothing! if Obama turns the U.S. into a second rate power.

As for the rest of the world — Europe, Africa, Asia, the Middle East — they would all be colonies and slaves of Imperial Japan, the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany if it were not for the United States.

A somewhat contradictory approach. You ask people not to complain and you complain.

The Republicans – they are supposed to lose this election – chose their best candidates. Mr. McCain is doing a good job, a better job than Mrs. Clinton. And he has a duty to challenge his opponent’s credentials.

This is truly an outstanding idea, and I think you should consider sending it to info@johnmccain.com.

I recently read that BHO stated income tax would be raised by 3% on those earning about $31,000 per year, or $63,000 for couples. I’ll have to find the link (just to give this comment credence) – or you may wish to google it.

  • Denise-Mary

    Wonderfully said. Thank you.
