Ironic, isn’t it, that she held the event at Home Depot, where Joe Biden says he hangs out all the time. Heh.

    Gov Palin also worked hard and was well prepared to become Governor. She also distinguished herself by taking on her party’s entrenched self-dealing with the oil companies that control Alaska’s oil and natural gas wealth. She resigned her job in protest.

    Leave Hillary out of this. There is more than one model to get our support.

    Palin is so much more accomplished than just-words-Obama.

I look forward to hearing her continue to articulate her vision for American exceptionalism and decency.     Actually, the way Hillary was treated this entire election season was and is a slap in the face to women. And by extension, now, the way Palin is being treated.

    While Palin is not Hillary, Palin is also 16 years her junior and newer on the scene.

    These women are earning their way in politics and by all accounts, very hard workers who roll up their sleeves and take on a challenge.

    The contest this year is no longer about party for me, but about character, as I have written here many times.

    Cleary, Hillary had not only the smarts, but the strong character to lead.

    The DNC stepped on her. Obama belittled and mischarcterized everything she stood for and called her husband, and Hillary, racists.

    The media stopped at nothing to rip her to shreds and gave Obama a pass.

    His character is sorely lacking.

    McCain on the other hand has served an suffered for his country. He has fought many times against his own party and also bears those scars to prove it. Palin likewise has been a whistle blower and fought against corruption in her own party. She is the mother of 5 and juggles work, home and family and a VERY successful Governorship.

    Take a look — that is feminism.

    A woman’s right to choose means just that. Period.

    I also have a lot of faith in the Big Dawg, and if he is out on the campaign trail calling McCain a great man and telling people to stop being mean to Palin and that she brings a lot to the table, that is hardly a ringing endorsement for Obama.

My reason for not supporting him is based primarily on the race-baiting that went on after NH. He is an unqualified, vile man. So who will I vote for? The only choice is McCain, a man of courage and substance, unlike Obama who has never accomplished a thing in his life. Do I agree with McCain on everything? Of course not. Do I agree with Obama on anything? That is not the point. He stands for nothing and changes what stances he has based on political expediency. He cannot be trusted.

    I despise Obama for influencing my 16 year old son. It is unbearably painful to see your only child in the tank for such a fraud. I despise this man for the division he has caused among families, among friends, and between races. He has set race relations back 40 years. He has to lose in November.

    People champion an obviously self made woman who has found success in American politics. Obama has had more help than anyone I have ever seen. He is still unqualified for the job of President in my view.

    The flaw in your argument is that the attacks against her HAVE been sexist and misogynist. She is a very successful and popular sitting Governor and has had many years of executive experience. She is also running as the VP.

    Contrast to Obama, with no executive or Governing experience and precious little legislative experience, who has renenged on every important policy, flip-flops constantly and has 20 years of dangerous alliances with Wright, Rezko, Auchi, Ayers, Johnson, Reins, Pritzker et al. The list goes on. He changes his position on the issues like athletes change their socks.

    Not to mention he insults any group that does not vote for him.

    We have ample reason and evidence not to support
    him — yet those of us who do not are called racist.

    People who will not support him have plenty of good reason not to do so that has nothing whatsoever to do with his race.

    The U.S. tax code now levies a tax of 35 percent on American firms, the second highest in the world.

    McCain would reduce the tax to 25 percent, an important reason why his plan creates more jobs than Obama’s.
    The most worrisome aspect of Obama’s economic plan is that he would raise tax rates in a weak economy. I know of no sensible economic theory that says that increasing taxes, or even planning to increase taxes, in a recession is a good idea. Rather, it is flawed economics. Raising taxes could turn a recession into a depression, and would significantly harm middle-class families. No matter how you look at it, McCain’s economic plan helps the middle class much more than Obama’s.

    Obama has two distinctly opposite arguments to forgive his Ayers association.

    1. He is just a guy in my neighborhood and I really don’t know him. Steve Diamond has blown that one out of the water.

    2. By the time I met him in the 1980’s he (Ayres) was already a trusted advisor to Mayor Daley. This is an attempt by the Obama people to legitimize Ayers. I repeat. Daley was not elected Mayor until 1989. Prior to that he was the Cook County prosecutor with no love for the un-convicted criminal Bill Ayers.

    So, anytime you hear argument number 2 above, slam it down.

    Actually, Palin signed the bill extending partnership rights to samesex couples into Alaska law as one of her first legislative acts. She could have made a stink over it and tried to defy the Alaska court order mandating that legislation, but she did not, and just went ahead and signed it.

    Most of you bloggers are correct is saying that “Palin is no Hillary”. The only thing they both have in common is that they are female, are mothers, have beens screwed by the male dominated DNC and the media, and been portrayed as harpees! The similarities stop there. We need to be honest here. Palin’s IQ was just listed at 116 and Hillary’s is higher than Einsteins was! No comparison. Do the research. Hillary is heads and shoulders above Palin.

    Trust me, I can’t stand Obama and will not vote for him, and I have been voting Democrat for 29 years. However, please don’t compare these two women–it simply cannot be done. Hillary could step into the White House tomorrow and fix this mess here and abroad without breaking a sweat–Palin could not.

    I will be voting for McCain, but not without reservations because of Palin. We already had one “folksy”, less intelligent type of President for the last eight years, and look where it got us? I want someone more intelligent than me(Palin is not)and someone who can hit the ground running. No one fits that bill this election cycle, and I cannot vote for Obama because of all he is hiding. By default, I will be voting for McCain.

    I don’t think anyone has ever said or implied that. I have actually said the only good reason for vote for Obama is because he’s black.     I’ll add my objections to that first comment. It should have been Hillary but it’s not. Now Palin may not be as experienced nor as well educated but she is only 44 and she got to where she is by herself, no help from husband (in the case of Hillary, it is debatable whether it was help or hindrance), radical organizations (Obama), criminals (Obama), affirmative action (Obama).

    So, while I supported Hillary and will support her again in 2012 if she runs, I think it is worthwhile giving Palin her due. Personally, I think she has done very well. I implicitly trust her and McCain more than I ever will, Obami and Biden.

The important question to be asked is “Why have you ignored it until now”? The important question to be asked is “Are you willing to put your career on the line” to back ANY candidate? The important question to be asked is “Why have you traveled to Alaska for the truth, when you haven’t even questioned the Democratic ticket here in your own backyard”.

    The important question that should be asked is “Are you willing to place the lives of the American people, this country and your families and friends on the line” by not questioning ANY candidates questionable associations. The important question to be asked is “Do you have the journalistic integrity to treat both canidates from both political parties the same by reporting the information not as your version of the truth, but the facts as they stand”.

    The question that should be asked to each and every person, each and every supporter, each and every surrogate for Barack Obama is are you willing to place your faith, are your willing to stand behind your words and your judgment, his campaign and the Democratic party that these claims all are false?     But if any of it is the truth. God help you. If the accusations that were made, from fraudelent donations to the birth certificate charge to the questionable associations are true, proven by legitimate, hard core visual evidence and not word of mouth and not heresay, the only thing that would keep me from attempting to make your political & journalistic lives hell would be a bullet in the back of my head. I would do all I could to my dying day to show you were traitors to your country because you placed a person above it to the point you didnt even bother to check facts.

    There is indeed a chasm of difference between Hillary and Palin, which is why Hillary is MY CANDIDATE and Palin is the current substitute. However, I do not think it is fair to say that Palin is a slap in the face to women. Indeed, she still has learning to do, but she’s adapting fast and (character wise) has her own unique set of strengths. Naturally, obviously, in a contest between her and Hillary (in my view) there is no contest. However, as the Obamabots and DNC seem to relish in pointing out, Hillary isn’t in the race anymore. And as much as Palin is not Hillary, Obama is even further out of the league of our admirable Iron Lady.

    A handful of battleground states are likely to determine the November 4 U.S. presidential election and it’s possible that Republican John McCain and Democrat Barack Obama could split them in a manner that leaves each just short of victory.

    If that happens, the Democratic-controlled House of Representatives would pick the president but it’s unclear whether Democrats would have enough votes to send Obama to the White House.

    The House last decided an election in 1824. But the legal skirmishing and partisan rancor would probably resemble a more recent election — the 2000 vote in which Republican George W. Bush narrowly defeated Democrat Al Gore after a disputed Florida vote count and legal battle.

    “This would be the seamy side of democracy, the lobbying and the money would be so intense,” said American University history professor Allan Lichtman.

    Exactly my point! And no, IQ is not the only measure of who would make a good President, but it is one to consider. Why do you think they have published all the President’s IQ’s for the past several decades? It is no secret that most people don’t want someone who is equally as smart as they are. They want someone more intelligent, ALONG WITH the other attributes that one looks for in a Presidential or Vice Presidential candidate. George Bush had the lowest IQ listed for a President in many decades and look where it got us? His IQ was listed as 121. Very average folks. Don’t shoot the messenger–it is fact! Find it yourself. His IQ only recently came out because his administration did such a good job at hiding it.

    Hillary is better than Palin, not just because of the IQ difference, but because she is polished, has relationships already with most world leaders, she has a firm understanding of what ALL the problems are and how to deal with them with an action plan. The IQ is simply yet another tool to measure her capabilites of handling complex issues.

    So get off your high horses and accept reality. I didn’t create their respective intellects–it is the way it is. I also don’t go into an election, as a woman and vote for someone simply because she is “down to earth” or has a vagina! I , like other intelligent people, want the BEST person for the job—whether they are black or white OR male or female. This is why Bush was in office for 8 years!     ”I don’t regret setting bombs,” Bill Ayers said. ”I feel we didn’t do enough.” Mr. Ayers, who spent the 1970′s as a fugitive in the Weather Underground, was sitting in the kitchen of his big turn-of-the-19th-century stone house in the Hyde Park district of Chicago. The long curly locks in his Wanted poster are shorn, though he wears earrings. He still has tattooed on his neck the rainbow-and-lightning Weathermen logo that appeared on letters taking responsibility for bombings. And he still has the ebullient, ingratiating manner, the apparently intense interest in other people, that made him a charismatic figure in the radical student movement.

    Now he has written a book, ”Fugitive Days” (Beacon Press, September). Mr. Ayers, who is 56, calls it a memoir, somewhat coyly perhaps, since he also says some of it is fiction. He writes that he participated in the bombings of New York City Police Headquarters in 1970, of the Capitol building in 1971, the Pentagon in 1972. But Mr. Ayers also seems to want to have it both ways, taking responsibility for daring acts in his youth, then deflecting it.

    ”Is this, then, the truth?,” he writes. ”Not exactly. Although it feels entirely honest to me.”

    But why would someone want to read a memoir parts of which are admittedly not true? Mr. Ayers was asked.

    ”Obviously, the point is it’s a reflection on memory,” he answered. ”It’s true as I remember it.”

    Mr. Ayers is probably safe from prosecution anyway. A spokeswoman for the Justice Department said there was a five-year statute of limitations on Federal crimes except in cases of murder or when a person has been indicted.

    Mr. Ayers, who in 1970 was said to have summed up the Weatherman philosophy as: ”Kill all the rich people. Break up their cars and apartments. Bring the revolution home, kill your parents, that’s where it’s really at,” is today distinguished professor of education at the University of Illinois at Chicago. And he says he doesn’t actually remember suggesting that rich people be killed or that people kill their parents, but ”it’s been quoted so many times I’m beginning to think I did,” he said. ”It was a joke about the distribution of wealth.”

    He went underground in 1970, after his girlfriend, Diana Oughton, and two other people were killed when bombs they were making exploded in a Greenwich Village town house. With him in the Weather Underground was Bernardine Dohrn, who was put on the F.B.I.’s 10 Most Wanted List. J. Edgar Hoover called her ”the most dangerous woman in America” and ”la Pasionara of the Lunatic Left.” Mr. Ayers and Ms. Dohrn later married.

    In his book Mr. Ayers describes the Weathermen descending into a ”whirlpool of violence.”

    ”Everything was absolutely ideal on the day I bombed the Pentagon,” he writes. But then comes a disclaimer: ”Even though I didn’t actually bomb the Pentagon — we bombed it, in the sense that Weathermen organized it and claimed it.” He goes on to provide details about the manufacture of the bomb and how a woman he calls Anna placed the bomb in a restroom. No one was killed or injured, though damage was extensive.

    Between 1970 and 1974 the Weathermen took responsibility for 12 bombings, Mr. Ayers writes, and also helped spring Timothy Leary (sentenced on marijuana charges) from jail.

    Today, Mr. Ayers and Ms. Dohrn, 59, who is director of the Legal Clinic’s Children and Family Justice Center of Northwestern University, seem like typical baby boomers, caring for aging parents, suffering the empty-nest syndrome. Their son, Malik, 21, is at the University of California, San Diego; Zayd, 24, teaches at Boston University. They have also brought up Chesa Boudin, 21, the son of David Gilbert and Kathy Boudin, who are serving prison terms for a 1981 robbery of a Brinks truck in Rockland County, N.Y., that left four people dead. Last month, Ms. Boudin’s application for parole was rejected.

    So, would Mr. Ayers do it all again, he is asked? ”I don’t want to discount the possibility,” he said.

    ”I don’t think you can understand a single thing we did without understanding the violence of the Vietnam War,” he said, and the fact that ”the enduring scar of racism was fully in flower.” Mr. Ayers pointed to Bob Kerrey, former Democratic Senator from Nebraska, who has admitted leading a raid in 1969 in which Vietnamese women and children were killed. ”He committed an act of terrorism,” Mr. Ayers said. ”I didn’t kill innocent people.”

    Mr. Ayers has always been known as a ”rich kid radical.” His father, Thomas, now 86, was chairman and chief executive officer of Commonwealth Edison of Chicago, chairman of Northwestern University and of the Chicago Symphony. When someone mentions his father’s prominence, Mr. Ayers is quick to say that his father did not become wealthy until the son was a teenager. He says that he got some of his interest in social activism from his father. He notes that his father promoted racial equality in Chicago and was acceptable as a mediator to Mayor Richard Daley and the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in 1966 when King marched in Cicero, Ill., to protest housing segregation.

    All in all, Mr. Ayers had ”a golden childhood,” he said, though he did have a love affair with explosives. On July 4, he writes, ”my brothers and I loved everything about the wild displays of noise and color, the flares, the surprising candle bombs, but we trembled mostly for the Big Ones, the loud concussions.”

    The love affair seems to have continued into adulthood. Even today, he finds ”a certain eloquence to bombs, a poetry and a pattern from a safe distance,” he writes.

    He attended Lake Forest Academy in Lake Forest, Ill., then the University of Michigan but dropped out to join Students for a Democratic Society.

    In 1967 he met Ms. Dohrn in Ann Arbor, Mich. She had a law degree from the University of Chicago and was a magnetic speaker who often wore thigh-high boots and miniskirts. In 1969, after the Manson family murders in Beverly Hills, Ms. Dohrn told an S.D.S. audience: ”Dig it! Manson killed those pigs, then they ate dinner in the same room with them, then they shoved a fork into a victim’s stomach.”

    In Chicago recently, Ms. Dohrn said of her remarks: ”It was a joke. We were mocking violence in America. Even in my most inflamed moment I never supported a racist mass murderer.”

    Ms. Dohrn, Mr. Ayers and others eventually broke with S.D.S. to form the more radical Weathermen, and in 1969 Ms. Dohrn was arrested and charged with resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer during the Days of Rage protests against the trial of the Chicago Eight — antiwar militants accused of conspiracy to incite riots at the 1968 Democratic National Convention.

    In 1970 came the town house explosion in Greenwich Village. Ms. Dohrn failed to appear in court in the Days of Rage case, and she and Mr. Ayers went underground, though there were no charges against Mr. Ayers. Later that spring the couple were indicted along with others in Federal Court for crossing state lines to incite a riot during the Days of Rage, and following that for ”conspiracy to bomb police stations and government buildings.” Those charges were dropped in 1974 because of prosecutorial misconduct, including illegal surveillance.

    During his fugitive years, Mr. Ayers said, he lived in 15 states, taking names of dead babies in cemeteries who were born in the same year as he. He describes the typical safe house: there were usually books by Malcolm X and Ho Chi Minh, and Che Guevara’s picture in the bedroom; fermented Vietnamese fish sauce in the refrigerator, and live sourdough starter donated by a Native American that was reputed to have passed from hand to hand over a century.

    He also writes about the Weathermen’s sexual experimentation as they tried to ”smash monogamy.” The Weathermen were ”an army of lovers,” he says, and describes having had different sexual partners, including his best male friend.

    ”Fugitive Days” does have moments of self-mockery, for instance when Mr. Ayers describes watching ”Underground,” Emile De Antonio’s 1976 documentary about the Weathermen. He was ”embarrassed by the arrogance, the solipsism, the absolute certainty that we and we alone knew the way,” he writes. ”The rigidity and the narcissism.”

    In the mid-1970′s the Weathermen began quarreling. One faction, including Ms. Boudin, wanted to join the Black Liberation Army. Others, including Ms. Dohrn and Mr. Ayers, favored surrendering. Ms. Boudin and Ms. Dohrn had had an intense friendship but broke apart. Mr. Ayers and Ms. Dohrn were purged from the group.

    Ms. Dohrn and Mr. Ayers had a son, Zayd, in 1977. After the birth of Malik, in 1980, they decided to surface. Ms. Dohrn pleaded guilty to the original Days of Rage charge, received three years probation and was fined $1,500. The Federal charges against Mr. Ayers and Ms. Dohrn had already been dropped.

    Mr. Ayers and Ms. Dohrn tried to persuade Ms. Boudin to surrender because she was pregnant. But she refused, and went on to participate in the Brink’s robbery. When she was arrested, Ms. Dohrn and Mr. Ayers volunteered to care for Chesa, then 14 months old, and became his legal guardians.

    A few months later Ms. Dohrn was called to testify about the robbery. Ms. Dohrn had not seen Ms. Boudin for a year, she said, and knew nothing of it. Ms. Dohrn was asked to give a handwriting sample, and refused, she said, because the F.B.I. already had one in its possession. ”I felt grand juries were illegal and coercive,” she said. For refusing to testify, she was jailed for seven months, and she and Mr. Ayers married during a furlough.

    Once again, Chesa was without a mother. ”It was one of the hardest things I did,” said Ms. Dohrn of going to jail.

    In the interview, Mr. Ayers called Chesa ”a very damaged kid.” ”He had real serious emotional problems,” he said. But after extensive therapy, ”became a brilliant and wonderful human being.” .

    After the couple surfaced, Ms. Dohrn tried to practice law, taking the bar exam in New York. But she was turned down by the Bar Association’s character committee because of her political activities.

    Ms. Dohrn said she was aware of the contradictions between her radical past and the comforts of her present existence. ”This is where we raised our kids and are taking care of our aging parents,” she said. ”We could live much more simply, and well we might.”

    And as for settling into marriage after efforts to smash monogamy, Ms. Dohrn said, ”You’re always trying to balance your understanding of who you are and what you need, and your longing and imaginings of freedom.”

    ”Happily for me, Billy keeps me laughing, he keeps me growing,” she said.

    Mr. Ayers said he had some of the same conflicts about marriage. ”We have to learn how to be committed,” he said, ”and hold out the possibility of endless reinventions.”

    As Mr. Ayers mellows into middle age, he finds himself thinking about truth and reconciliation, he said. He would like to see a Truth and Reconciliation Commission about Vietnam, he said, like South Africa’s. He can imagine Mr. Kerrey and Ms. Boudin taking part.

    And if there were another Vietnam, he is asked, would he participate again in the Weathermen bombings?

    By way of an answer, Mr. Ayers quoted from ”The Cure at Troy,” Seamus Heaney’s retelling of Sophocles’ ”Philoctetes:” ” ‘Human beings suffer,/ They torture one another./ They get hurt and get hard.’ ”

    He continued to recite:

    History says, Don’t hope

    On this side of the grave.

    But then, once in a lifetime

    The longed-for tidal wave

    Of justice can rise up

    And hope and history rhyme.

    Thinking back on his life , Mr. Ayers said, ”I was a child of privilege and I woke up to a world on fire. And hope and history rhymed.”

    Afganistan, it is a joke to hear him say he cares. When he said our strategy there is “air raiding villages and killing civillians.”
    He chairs the sub-committee that oversee’s nato and never held a hearing in almost 2 years. One of our huge problems in Afganistan is Nato allies are not fighting. They are there, but do nothing.
    His economic plan is reckless and proven to be disasterous. You do not raise taxes on the folks creating jobs and their companys. Then expect them to create more jobs when they can barely afford the ones they have created.
    His middle class plan is totally bogus on all levels. We got a stimulus check for “95%” of workers over the summer and it did nothing for the economy.
    His energy plan is half assed and not nearly as agressive as McCains on Nuclear,Coal, and oil exploration. Mac also supports all the renewable and alternate sources.
    McCain supports increaing our military obama says he wants to cut defense.
    We can pick to proven leaders in Mccain/Palin.
    Or you can pick the great unknown untested ticket of disaster. Obama/Biden.
    The choice is clear to me and all of my family and friends in central PA. Mccain/Palin 08

I took it to Denver and tried to get it seen and Obama off the ticket. My partner started the petition drive to get Hillary back on the ballot in Denver. Great, we all love Hillary. Guess what? I love Palin more. They are in fact two different birds, but Palin isn’t part of the system and she’s just plain amazing. I hope Hillary can run again in 12 against PALIN.     I have an extremely high IQ. Apparently across the threshold of genius. I was a straight-A student, valedictorian, National Merit Finalist, could have gone to any Ivy League, went to a prestigious school, blah blah blah.

    With all my smarts, I could NEVER do what Sarah Palin does. I do not have the “social intelligence” to do it. I am introverted by nature, unable to connect with people in such a way that I could speak to the hearts of Americans, and certainly terrible at dealing with group politics. I’m the kind of person where when I open my mouth in a room of people trying to deal with an issue, half the people end up hating me for what I’ve said.

    I’m temperamental and impatient, and when I get angry I shoot off pissed off emails that are legendary.

    I have neither the temperament or social smarts to do well in politics at the level Palin has.

    You completely ignore all the positive qualities she has based on some elusive idea that brainiacs are better. No, we are not. I can program a website in PHP and MYSQL, but I would be rotten at running a country.

    This is the reason why B students rule the world, and we A students are the ones in the background doing the computer programming.

    i was there too!! i drove 2 hours, stood in line for a looooong time and it was worth it. i spoke to many republicans, telling them who i am and why i was there and they were so nice and welcoming and excited to hear about pumas. the center was PACKED and the enthusiasm for sarah was electric. what a gift she is.

    i was a HUGE hillary supporter and was devastated at her treatment by the UNdemocratic party. HOWEVER, i believe that despite her treatment, she is somewhat culpable as well for not standing up for herself, her supporters, her party and her country. she is entitled to her reasons, but i have mine for why i support mccain/palin. i want reform in government more than ever, and while i don’t expect they’d be able to do everything, i believe with palin in the administration helping mccain, more will get done than would ever even be attempted by “the other” ticket.

I was there, there was nothing racist about her remarks and belief that Obama has commited treason by his associations and his incentiary words regarding what our troops are doing in Afghanistan.

    Before I left, I confronted a member of CNN press corps and very politely told her how much I dislike CNN (among the rest of the media who has shamelessly promoted Obama out of proportion to the standards of good journalism). Don’t worry, she “got it”! She may just mention it in meetings with her associates when “why the ratings” are going down becomes the topic of the hour for them.

    If I was about “party first”, I would not be voting for McCain. As I said, not only am a liberal Democrat, but I have been a party insider for decades. I have run political campaigns for the Democratic party for 12 years.

    For loyal Democrats, this is a tough pill to swallow. Despite my intent to vote for McCain, I still have fear, as do other loyal Democrats, that McCain will give us 4 more years of the same. I travel around the world with my family and I cannot tell you how poorly we are viewed now. Before someone ignorant says something stupid like, “who cares what other countries think?” I will say that WE DO. Our standing in the world assists us with our debts, keeps us safer if the relationships are better, and overall good will for our countrymen.

    With a deep breath, and a distinct fear, I will be pulling the lever for McCain/Palin come election day because my fear of an Obama administration is more of a risk to me.

    My husband and I have been lifelong progressives and Dems, but we have no qualms voting for McCain/Palin ticket. I still don’t know what Obama stands for. He still hasn’t given me a reason to vote for him, but rather has given us numerous reason NOT to.

    We are not against any political candidate because of their race, gender, or party. Just because someone belongs to a particular political party, that does not make them the best spokesperson for that party, and nobody is obligated to vote for someone simply because they are the nominee of a particular party. Many Republicans voted against GWB because they didn’t think he was a true Republican, and they were right! Some feel that way about McCain. But nobody who is or was a Democrat is obligated to like or vote for the nominee, and race and gender don’t matter either.

    95% of blacks are voting for Obama for no other reason that his race. Some women will vote for Palin for no other reason than her gender, but it is nowhere near 95%, and probably not even 60%. Many women will vote against her because she’s a woman, so that kind of balances out.

    And I guess only Obots are “real Americans?” Tell that to the VFW.

    An observation: Been listening to XM talk radio on my drive home and to me it seems as if Laura Ingram does not want McCain/Palin to win. She is highly critical of them, saying things like they don’t know how to talk to conservatives, while she does.

    Also I’ve been surprised at how negative Huckabee’s comments have been, though I do share his opinion on McCain making a huge mistake re the bailout: completely suspending his camapign but showing up for the debate anyway, and allowing pork into the bailout bill when he said he wouldn’t permit it. Just surprised his own party is being so harsh.

    Hmmmm…I asked when I was there and was told 16,000. And I was specifically checking out the AA attendance and IMO it was more than 20 by a long, long shot. I don’t know how you could pick 20 people out of a crowd of 16,000 people in the first place. Not trying to argue with you, I just thought I saw something differently than you did. Maybe I am just so amazed by her I missed it. What a great day it was. Days like that remind us of loving America because I am tired of Obama and all his hate.

    There were more than 8,000 inside due to the people packed on the tennis courts and also many were standing by the upper railings.

    The rest of the number is accounted for by the people in the OVERFLOW area outside the tennis arena.

    I would say I saw a lot more Asians and Latinos than African Americans but for me the bottom line is that it was a tremendously diverse crowd.

    I have a background in international business. I, too, travel the world and have seen America’s image tarnished by George W. Bush. But at the same time, we can’t have someone who is so naive that he can be manipulated by his own handlers and leaders of other countries. It’s a fine balance to say we want to work with you vs. being a pushover because we want CHANGE. But to say we will sit, without preconditions, with rogue leaders is beyond stupid and IS dangerous. Can you imagine if at that level, during the first meeting, talks fail? Where else do you turn to? You can’t then go back to diplomats and lower level talks. That’s it baby, there’s nothing higher than the presidential level. It’s beyond naive and is not of the world we all live in.

    I’m an academic who is surrounded by brilliant students and faculty at a high-profile university, and believe me Obama is no smarter than anybody else on campus. He certainly has a knack for conning people though—I will give him that much! He reminds me so much of the occasional student who will try to con or argue his/her way to an “A” in the face of inferior work.

    Also, he still falls short of Sen Clinton and Pres Clinton’s intellect, political savvy, and instincts. It took all of the MSM to play the race card, the DEM elites, and the DNC to push HRC out of the primary race—and she still won the popular vote and came out about 100 state delegates shy of Obama! The Supers were supposed to weigh in, but noooo, the DNC had to give us a bogus Roll Call vote at the convention. Hillary did not lose the nomination—it was stolen from her, pure and simple.

    Did anyone else see the posting on other websites asking people to contact the President of Columbia University, Harvard and Occidental Colleges to ask them to look at Obama’s file to see if he applied stating his nationality is “Kenyan”? That is the big thing circulating right now. I already emailed the President of Columbia telling him it is his Patriotic duty to report it, if it is true. Also, told him that if we find out after the election that Obama did apply as a “Kenyan” and he knew about it, that part of the blame for our Constitutional Crisis would fall on him.

    oh, i thought the whole experience was awesome. you should have seen the faces of the folks i spoke to when i told them who i was and why i was there.

    as a matter-of-fact, i was looking for a seat and asked this volunteer where i was allowed to sit because i really wanted to sit directly in front of the podium but up in the stands (i was looking at kind of a roped-off area) and she said, oh, there or there, but not there or there… then, since i couldn’t contain my excitement for being there, i kind of blurted out, “i’m so excited to be here – you know, i drove two hours to get here, i’m a hillary democrat – until nov 5th that is – AND i’m a lesbian AND i’m going to vote for mccain/palin!!” she looked at me, kind of stunned, and i thought, “uh oh, shouldn’t have said ALL that” when she says, with a HUGE smile and grand wave of her arm, “you can sit ANYWHERE you want!!”

    we had a great conversation after that. and the people i ended up sitting next to gave me a small american flag, a mccain/palin sign and a handmade i love sarah sign. what a great day. and wasn’t sarah great?

    Actually, she’s the only candidate who understands how completely important and crucial energy independence is. McCain certainly does want energy independence, but energy is Palin’s pet passion. And while I don’t agree with her on every point of her energy ideas (I’d prefer wind power over nuclear), she is 100% right that we MUST achieve energy independence.

    Strange thing, when I was in Vietnam I dropped bombs and probably killed civilians but you know what? I don’t know that any hit a civilian, I do know I hit trucks, bridges, one train and a bunch of people carrying weapons and supplies to resupply the NVA that were killing our troops. Regrets?     I used to live just outside Asheville, NC, with the family of the late Congressman Jamie Clarke -salt of the earth people btw. Asheville, being a university town has some liberal elements, but i don’t know how much student vote Obama expects to get there since Buncombe County itself is very conservative area! In fact, as far as i know it is still a dry county! NC in general is pretty conservative, especially the western, mountain region of the state. NC is a great place though: beautiful country; temperate climate; good, honest, friendly people! Will always hold a special place in my heart!

    Since we are so close to the election right now, if we give our vote for president to a third party candidate-it may affect McCain victory.

    It is not the voters who vote for president- IT IS THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE MEMBERS who do so- based upon the popular vote however…

    There are such categories as ‘Faithless Electors’ who can vote against the popular vote of their state.

    If Sen Obama loses the popular vote in USA, he might still win election IF HIS CAMPAIGN HAS MANAGED TO SWAY/COERCE/BLACKMAIL/BRIBE state electors to become Faithless Electors and give their vote to him instead of the candidate that won the popular vote in that state. This is legal and it has been done in the past.

    Based upon how Sen Obama has gotten this far in his political career, I would not put this past his campaign to do this.

    We need to be on the alert. Republican party electors have to be prepared for this possibility occuring and they should go public IMMEDIATELY if anyone approaches them to do this (become a Faithless elector and vote for Obama if McCain has won popular vote in their state)

    i was there, too. during the 1st break between speakers (right before jon voight spoke) and when the arena was already close to capacity, i got up and walked around to stretch my legs. i walked to the entrance and what i saw was amazing. there was a line of people waiting to get in – still – AND cars backed up in line to park. furthermore, it was more of a diverse crowd than i’ve seen at predominantly (unofficial) republican events. i was also told that the stands seat 15000, though there was no confirmation on that. just my two cents.

    She didn’t kiss up to anyone to get where she is. SHe didn’t ride the coat tails of anyone.

    She didn’t use a husband or a party–she worked very hard to get where she is because her party fought her all the way to the Governor’s office.

    SHe is a great example of determination and excellence for our daughters.

    100 is average
    115 is Gifted
    133 is genius low end
    150+ is Extreme mental ability

    The ability does not go up by points
    it goes up exponentially

    Kinda like the Richter Scale

    My oldest has an IQ of 186. She is extraordinary, the way she views the world is totally different from those of us with a lesser IQ. Her mind manipulates data differently.

    Unless a nurologist performed tests on Hillary or Sarah guesses of IQ are a stupid waster of time.

    What is a slap in the face is that Liberal Women continue to think that they speak for all Women!

    I am so tired of being lumped in with them, as if we all feel the same. As if we ALL feel that it is our God given right to kill our unborn children (who’ve committed no crimes whatsoever), yet will stand for hours on end outside a prison protesting the death penalty. They act as if this is the only issue worth voting for and that’s all “women” should care about!!!

    I’m here to say that “women” have their own minds and my mind does not want to be linked with them at any way.

    I am a mother and a wife and yes, I have even had a career in the past which my paycheck was bigger than my husbands.

    Sarah Palin is FINALLY a woman I can relate to, with family values and Faith and beliefs in how our country should be run that are similar to my own. She has renewed my belief in “women”.

    To try and lump me in with “women” who don’t believe as I do, is a slap in the face to me!

    You see, a campaign;s internal polling is more accurate than the individual “cpmmercial” polls. These catch up about 72 hours later.

    The best way to gauge when Obama is slipping in internal polls, is when he sends out the trolls for counter espionage on No quarter.

    I bet $5 McCain’s poll numbers rise by Tuesday.

    I wish to thank Hillary for her hardwork and so sorry that the DNC pulled a fast one on her. I am disappointed that she is campaigning for the likes of Obama, only she knows why. But I don’t have to support him and will be voting for Mavericks this time around.

    But worries me most is Ohio judges/election people allowing potential voting fraud. What is going on, have we been blind and socialists all over America have gotten themselves elected in disguise as judges, election officials, attorney generals, senators, house members, etc.?
