I get so sick and tired of hearing about polls this and polls that. I feel as though I’m yelling in a pickle barrel sometimes. Polls aren’t worth the time or effort put into them as they are just another means of lulling the electorate into a false sene of security or to make them feel hopeless. I have to admit that I had never heard of Ayers before I saw mention of him on this site. So, to me, it is possible that Obama didn’t know of Ayer’s past when he first ran for Senate. If you took a poll and asked the majority of Americans if they knew of Bill Ayers past BEFORE this election, what do you suppose their answers would be?

With that being said, this whole Ayers issue for me means nothing. Why? Because Ayers was never convicted of anything. They could not prove in a court of law that he did anything wrong. So, for people to call him a “terrorist”, is off base in my mind, since nothing was ever proven against the guy. If someone had proven that Ayers did something wrong, and he was convicted of such, then my stance would definitely change.

And as for Palin wanting to bring up Wright again? That is casting stones from a glass house in my opinion, considering the video that is going around the internet of her being “blessed” against the evils of witchcraft. Unlike Obama’s former Church, actual evidence does exist that Palin did hear and support the things her Pastor espoused. c) a lot of what the pollsters think are “firm Democrats” voting for Obama I believe are actually “reluctant Democrats” and are capable of being swayed.

Why is it relevant whether or not Obama was in the Church during Wright’s sermons? I remember reading newspaper articles for years about the violent Weather Underground. This was a huge thing in the late 60′s, as well as the 70′s. William Ayers would no doubt be a formidable person with his family wealth, Chicago native, fancy education, past terrorist/anti-war background, yet later becoming a revered professor at prestigeous Columbia University and all the intellectual snobbery that goes with such a position.

With Obama’s background, I can see how each would be drawn to the other. One thing that keeps coming to my mind is the fact that Obama’s parents were both career students and by many accounts radical extremists. The mere fact the two got together attests to that.

Also, Obama’s mother would have been William Ayers age. Since they traveled in similar higher education circles, I am wondering if that was the link between Ayers and Obama. Another point is how Obama seems to have been looking for parental figures, aka, the Reverand Wright. I find this possiblility a curious thing.
