I'm confused by the "Plame was not undercover secret anymore" talking point. If CIA set off the initial investigation to find out who leaked, seems like they though she was undercover? If she hadn't been overseas in more than 5 years but she still had a secret identity and people to protect maybe congress critters need to close the loophole that is seemingly letting Cheney & Co off the hook.

And, a bunch more questions -- and a huge spotlight needs to shine on -- THE WHITE HOUSE IRAQ GROUP.

Why they existed.

Who they were.

What they were doing.

And WHY.

People seem to skim over this bunch and their whole operation.

SHINE THE LIGHTS ON THEM!

there are no shows like this that are news related. they are mouthpiece shows, plain and simple. come on, talk to a meaningless toad that never talks back about what you want to say and leave.

propaganda outlet. wonder why anyone except their hosts and the "guests" would ever watch such crap? do we have any teevee shows about news that aren't infotainment shows? short answer, no

The Imus show is entertainment--I actually heard him say that years ago in an interview with Russert. However outrageous the host and more so some of his sidekicks are, this show tells us a great deal about the state of affairs in the media: Imus often asked much tougher questions of public officials than any of the reporters/correspondents, anchors on news programs. There are no longer clear demarkation marks between entertainment, news, and infotainment with serious public affairs news diminishing by the day.

Don Imus this a.m. was really disturbing as he mumbled and chewed out loud while Mary Matalin was spewing her usual tired rant about poor Scooter and the evil Wilson.
His contempt seems real enough until they kiss and make up at the end. They did this a few weeks ago, and she freaked out so bad she hung up and called back.
This a.m. he told her Cheney should be impeached, which he has said many times before. It's mostly part of his curmudgeon act, but seems real also...hard to pin down.
But listening to Matalin sputtering was like listening to some evil criminal being strangled...you just wish they would just die and shutup about it!(no more tv for me this week)
Imus also railed at everyone since Gen Weightman(sp) was fired that 'that skunk' Kiley should be fired. And today, right after his show, pow.
Can Cheney be next?! Is Imus able to curse them out of office?! Stay tuned!

Russert is not an exception, he is the rule. Most of these talking heads on television do not have any journalistic training but come from some other walk of life. Strangely, they all seem to have a need to call themselves journalists. In surfing channels, I have heard Joe Scarborough on MSNBC and Greta van Susteren on Fox News say so. My first boss, a newspaper editor, would turn around in his grave, could he hear and see what passes today as journalism.
But unless news "consumers" demand better products, this is what we all get.

Always thought he was a comedian; precursor to Colbert, dumber than Jane Pauley, less relevant than Katie Couric.

And, of course, he works/worked for Jack Welch, so how can you believe anything out of his mouth?
