“Hypo” Open Thread [Update]

Update: Check out these well-written, detailed stories at No Quarter on exactly what Obama is up to in Missouri, and what’s in store for anyone, anywhere, who opposes “Dear Leader” if, God help us, he ends up being elected:

I’m glad that John McCain put the Missouri story in a TV ad. We covered Obama’s anti-free speech tactics in Missouri and — if he’s elected — we can expect more such tactics.

In fact, we’re posting a story by Uppity Woman shortly about the detainment of Jerome Corsi in Kenya. Corsi was there to do more research on Obama. Now, Corsi is not a favorite person of mine. Not only did he lead the repulsive Swiftboat attack on John Kerry in 2004, but his book on Obama does a disservice because it is not factually accurate in several sports — whereas David Reddoso’s book, which we advertise here (in the middle column), is reliable throughout. Three friends have read Reddoso’s book, and rave about the information they gleaned — that even though they thought they knew a lot about Obama, there was more in-depth coverage in Reddoso’s chapters.

But, all of that said, Jerome Corsi does not deserve to be detained in a Kenyan immigration jail. Uppity’s post is coming soon …

These ads are OK at best. They need to be more focused.

The ad starts out as if it’s going to be about the Obama Truth Squads, but concludes that Obama is a liar. Both are true, but it fails to drive home the point about Truth Squads.

I’m just concerned that the writers of the McCain and GOP ads are not focused enough to make the most emphatic points possible. Sometimes they just cram too much into one spot, rather than driving home a single point.

And Biden lied. Of all places, the Washington Post has a story on Biden’s claims that his policy initiatives guided our humanitarian efforts in Bosnia. Not so, says the Post. The real leaders were
    1. Bob Dole
    2. Some guy named Lieberman
    3. House Republicans

During last week’s debate with his counterpart on the Republican ticket, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, Biden twice gave himself credit for shifting U.S. policy on Bosnia. The senator from Delaware declared that he “was the catalyst to change the circumstance in Bosnia led by President Clinton.” At another point he noted: “My recommendations on Bosnia — I admit I was the first one to recommend it. They saved tens of thousands of lives.”
    ad_icon

But, despite the bravado, Biden was not a key player in the legislation that ultimately forced Bill Clinton to lift an arms embargo imposed by the United Nations on Bosnian Muslims fighting the Serbs, according to congressional officials involved in the issue and a review of Biden’s speeches and voting record.

In his autobiography, “Promises to Keep,” Biden says that the pivotal Senate vote came “nearly three years after I called for the plan” to unilaterally lift the embargo. But the charge actually was led by then-Senate Minority Leader Robert J. Dole (R-Kan.) and Democratic Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman (Conn.), who has since become an independent.

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/10/06/AR2008100602681_2.html?nav=rss_politics&sid=ST2008100603030&s_pos=

By the time Biden signed on to the Dole-Lieberman bill, two years after his encounter with Milosevic, he was listed only as the ninth co-sponsor.

And the evidence that he called Milosevic a war criminal to his face is disputed.

Is it possible that the guy who cheated in law school hasn’t reformed his personal ethics one bit?

Another poll showing things tightening nationally:

The Early Line: Diageo/Hotline Tracking Poll

    Obama-Biden 46%
    McCain-Palin 44%
    Undecided 9%

    – The race has tightened in the last day. After trailing by 5-7 pts. for the last 10 days, McCain is now just 2 pts. behind Obama.

–One potential reason: Obama’s one-time lead on the question of who’d best handle the economy has evaporated. Today, Obama and McCain are tied at 42%. Independent voters favor McCain on the economy by an 8 pt. margin (42-34%).

McCain needs to hammer Obama relentlessly tonight on the fact that while he (McCain) tried to introduce legislation that would have reformed Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and perhaps prevented this mortgage train wreck, Obama was busy collecting over a million in campaign cash from the very Wall Street wizards that helped caise the mess.

“Talk is cheap, Senator. When it was time for action, where were you?”

Here is a link to an article saying that the Obama campaign has returned the illegal contributions to those tee shirt buying brothers in Gaza:

        http://www.jta.org/cgi-bin/iowa/news/article/20081007obamagaza.html

The story relates: ” The Obama campaign returned $33,000 to Palestinians in the Gaza Strip who purchased a large quantity of campaign T-shirts.
The revelation arises out of a Republican request to the Federal Election Commission to investigate thousands of small donations to the presidential campaign of Sen. Barack Obama
(D-Ill.). Republicans claim that some of the donors are from overseas, which is illegal.
Reporting the request Monday, the Washington Post noted that Newsweek, its sister publication, reported that two Palestinian brothers had paid $33,000 for a bulk order of T-shirts. Such purchases from online stores are counted as donations.
The campaign returned the money and said its staff had mistaken the brothers’ address abbreviation for Gaza, “Ga.,” as the U.S. state of Georgia.”

That’s the “W.O.R.M.” for Shit! We Got Caught!

        • Animal Control

So where (what city) did they ship the T-shirts and were the (fictitious) T-shirts returned?

Independent voters favor McCain on the economy by an 8 pt. margin (42-34%).

Experience counts, especially at a time of “financial disturbance”.

    • AnninCA

Palin did fabulous, and this is the result. This is the real deal of how people saw her.

Moreover, the press has now pretty much spent themselves. No more to uncover. Amazingly enough, the timing may work out for McCain.

Everything in THIS year’s election seems to be about timing.

      • Urban Hillbilly

Yes, I do believe McCain was losing support because voters did not believe Palin was fit – before the debate. Palin acquitted herself perfectly.

Honestly, I think voters yearn for someone in Washington DC who has struggled to keep insurance and has shopped at Walmart ’cause that’s what they could afford. These attributes make Palin an extremely attractive candidate. She showcased herself in that debate.

Also, for some reason, polls show the public trusts McCain as much as Obama on the economy. Maybe because of the cesspool that is congress, democratically controlled, on the issue. It’s interesting. McCain should fully capitalize on it though.

        • AnninCA

I agree 100%. The debate turned them back.

I am a firm believer that Biden is a perfect example of what’s wrong in Washington. He’s ill-informed. He is nothing but spin, spin, spin. He’s so partisan that his brains have fallen out.

People are so done with that approach.

The one strong point that Mac has is that Republican party is in disarray. LOL* It’s perfect for the maverick message.

What people haven’t quite caught onto yet is that the Democratic party is equally screwed up.

They sort of got it with Pelosi’s idiotic move last week.

Now, McCain has to present a very clear recovery plan. Will he?

Lordy, I hope it’s better than “cut spending.”

I don’t see any false eyelashes on Palin.

                (I’m a fashionista – I know.)

Some of us are endowed with naturally long lashes that appear to be fake when we wear mascara.

That should alleviate your concerns about Palin’s cosmetic accoutrements.

                • AnninCA

Interesting. I have those myself. But I am not a fashionista, so I just now have figured out who has “bolt-ons.” LOL*

I really like Palin. Her conservative personal viewpoints do not put me off. I have reviewed her true record, and she’s a compromiser and fairly moderate in governing style, which is what matters to me. She is not an ideologue.

                • Postmaster

I went to her rally in Jacksonville, Florida today. It was at the Landings on the St. Johns River. There were about 5000 people there, and thousands more were turned away. They closed the entrances at 8:30.

I got there at 7:00 and barely inside when they closed it. The length of the line was 4 times as long as it was at 7:00. My guess is that about 7,000 got turned away. There was a 2nd line that wasn’t visible from where I was at. It was incredible to me, but I hated some missing out. Sarah was gorgeous and her sweet down to earth self.

There were all kinds of people there, and we were all there for Sarah. Lots of men too and young people. Not all have drunk the koolaid. :)

Here in Kansas City, Missouri, there was a small story about the Truth Squad in the “Local” section, like on page B-4 or something. And similar for the marching Obots.

I sent an email to the St. Louis prosecuter who was involved in that Truth Squad story, and she emailed me back (form letter) claiming that the St. Louis TV station that generated that report had taken the whole thing out of context. She assured me that nobody in law enforcement mentioned in that story was threatening prosecution for ads, but that they intended to speak out, as individuals, against misleading or false claims in anti-Obama ads.

Filed under “for what it’s worth.”

CNN Finally Starts to Cover Obama’s Ayers Lies:

The following clip from AC360 shows that CNN’s team is finally getting in on the action (albeit somewhat to the disbelief of Anderson Cooper) by covering the misleading information Obama has put out about the depth of this ties to Ayers. The real bombshell is at the end of the clip where the investigative reporter for AC360 reveals that he has spoken with people who were present at the political “coming out” party for Obama at Ayers’ house in 1995. Those people reveal that it is a LIE that Alice Palmer organized that meeting and that it was really set up by Ayers. Let’s hope this spins through the media:

    Breaking News:

    WND Exclusive DISPATCH FROM KENYA
Kenya detains Corsi during Obama probe
Officials scuttle WND reporter’s news conference on investigation
    Posted: October 07, 2008
    7:26 am Eastern

    © 2008 WorldNetDaily

WND senior staff writer Jerry Corsi

NAIROBI, Kenya – The government of Kenya is holding WND senior staff reporter Jerome Corsi in custody at immigration headquarters after police picked him up at his hotel just prior to a scheduled news conference in which he planned to announce the findings of his investigation into Barack Obama’s connections in the country.

Corsi, the author of the No. 1 best-selling book “The Obama Nation,” was picked up by authorities at his hotel at 9:45 a.m. and is being detained at Nyayo House, the provincial headquarters for Nairobi.

“Just as we were about to start the 10 a.m. press conference at the Grand Regency Hotel in Nairobi, Kenyan immigration approached us and detained us. Tim Bueler, my publicist, and I are now in the immigration offices, with our passports taken. The immigration officer told the press, ‘There is no problem, and Dr. Corsi is a friend of Kenya.’”

Corsi had extensive meetings with top Kenyan officials upon his arrival. His visit and his activities during his stay have been well-known to authorities at the highest levels.

    This is over already.

The race is again tightening and McCain will drop the “Whitey” tape in the next weeks just to finish him off.

    Poor Barky.

    • Firefly

Meechelle has undoubtedly said a lot of things on the campaign trail this season and I think the best way for the 527s or whoever to release the whitey tape would be to introduce it with some remark that’s come from Michelle’s own mouth (I’m sure she’s made many that have been recorded) about how she and barky “agree on everything” or “are on the same page” or “have the same political views/philosophy” – something like that. Actually, the same kind of remark has no doubt come from barky too – that could be used.

That way, the whitey tape can’t be attacked by the barky campaign and the 0bamamedia repeating that the tape is “an attack on the candidate’s wife, which should be off limits.” (That’s what barky was trying to set up – pretending to be taking the high road – when his minions were attacking Sarah Palin’s daughter.) Whatever Michelle says about whitey on that tape, and however ugly it is, it must be tied to her husband – the two of them as one mind.

Of course, additional video of an involved and approving barky in the pews of the church while Wright is ranting about whitey couldn’t hoit either…

McCain isn’t going to touch anything remotely racist.

        You kidding?

People vote with their conscience. If he does that? Moderates will turn out in droves and vote for Obama just to make sure they can sleep at night.

America hates this racism stuff. With good reason.

          You kidding?

I think AnninCA is the poster who was called out a couple months ago for being a t-word.

I am not certain if it is the case.
However I am detecting a bit of equivocation and snark in her(?) posts.

            • AnninCA

I am still the same poster. And I can’t stand racism.

It would be a huge mistake if Mac goes that direction.

I even would switch back to Democrat.

Perhaps I should have said: “I won’t tolerate it.”

              • Pennsylvania goes RED!

if you can’t stand racism, then what are you guilty about?

                • AnninCA

I have no sense of personal guilt. I have a dedication to principles, cultivated since I was a child growing up in the South in the 1950s.

I am dedicated to principle of equality.

I will not support any person who employs sexism (hence, my exit from the Democrats) or racism or gay-baiting or anything remotely related.

I do NOT, WILL NOT, support racist remarks.

However, I see nothing remotely racist about bring up the Ayers connection.

I don’t really see cogent discussion about it.

I can see a *whiff* of racism, only in that AA candidates often must tap into the far left to get funding to even get a toehold into the political system.

But other than that? I don’t get why this was remotely racist.

What I personally look at is the tactics used.

This whole “truth” squad stuff by the O campaign is alarming. I don’t blame him, individually, or even his campaign.

I do agree with Hill or Bust that it’s alarming because the people behind his campaign are pretty darn scary, out there, and so into winning that they are trashing people’s individual rights.

                  I don’t like mob mentality.

Exactly! This woman has been compared to Jackie Kennedy – are people kidding me. They need to accurately see who the potential (God-forbid) first lady really is. She hates America and she has made her point very clearly. Now she needs to be called on it before America does something stupid by electing her husband.

This isn’t going to work with the McCain/Palin ticket. It may help some people sleep at night with their naive support of Obama, but the democrats that supported Hillary that have left the ticket mostly did so for this tactic. AND, as many have stated before, most (not all) of the African American Community is voting for Obama. So this just made AP look like a laughing stock. It brought up old feelings.

Hi soldier4hillary! I tried posting your link at Taylor Marsh, but it wouldn’t accept it. I was successful at HuffPo, though. I posted it on Arianna’s column. I never posted comments at Kos, so I have to wait 24hrs til I can post a comment.

      • NCgirl

I just went back to HuffPo and tried to post the your link under a few more articles, and it won’t accept it now. HuffPo has turned into a rag with absolute nonsense and propaganda. You all should really just take a peak at the crap on it today.

        • AnninCA

HuffPo is, again, in melt-down mode.

That’s because the polls are shifting back.

Their regular supporters can’t handle much emotionally.

This is a pattern with them. They allow alternative viewpoints until it gets “tight.”

but they still have Talkleft beat.

Did you catch the meltdown over there against PUMAS?

It’s hilarious to me to see liberal blogs take that stand.

          Free speech?

          Only in theory!

Does anyone know if the DOJ is investigating the arrest of Larry Sinclair in DC? If I have the facts right, the warrant came out of Delaware from Biden’s son, the AG of Delaware. No charges made. He was kept in jail for a week. Does that not sound like a totalitarian government?

    • Mr. Natural

Welcome, Mr. Sinclair, to Maryland’s Gitmo-North.

    Rudy Giuliani on Morning Joe

    TRANSCRIPT:
JOE SCARBOROUGH: What does McCain have to do?

RUDY GIULIANI: I think John, gosh hes done so many town hall meetings, hes probably done more town hall meetings than any other American politician, 1,000 maybe. . He just has to be himself.

SCARBOROUGH: was he himself in the last one?

GIULIANI: You never are yourself in a debate like that. Now you get a chance to really talk to people and I think that is Johns strength.

ANDREA MITCHELL: Now he is in a situation where his own aides have been telling the press weve got to get it off the economy. How do you get it off the economy? Isnt that the only issue? Doesnt he have to come up with answers on the economy?

GIULIANI: From my point of view he is very strong on the economy, he has the right answers on the economy, so get out there and be aggressive on it. He is for lower taxes for sure.

MITCHELL: Given everything that has happened in the market the last few days, if you were running for President would you be running this whole campaign about a former Chicago radical who knew Obama years ago in a community organization. Would you be talking about all this stuff, which frankly seems like a distraction?

GIULIANI: To you but I dont think the American people Andrea, of course Id be talking about it. This is totally extraordinary; Id even tie it up to the economy. Thats the reason he believes in the redistribution of wealth. Thats why Barack Obama is the most left wing member of the United States Senate. Its not by accident 2007, the biggest strongest liberal voting record: Barack Obama. Friend of Ayers for at least 3 years, maybe longer. Ayers tried to blow up the New York City police department. This is a guy that I dont like very much. He tried to blow up the United States Capital, he tried to blow up the pentagon, and they set off bombs there, he said he didnt do enough. And he has written a book about the redistribution of wealth. Check Obamas answer to money, capital. Im not going to reduce the capital gains tax. Oh but its only fair? Thats the redistribution of wealth Barack. This guy educated in the Salamensky Methods, good friend of Ayers, very close to Wright, this is a very left wing, most left wing candidate of the Democratic Party. Its Ideology, its ideology, its not guilt by association.

    • Touchet

Now McCain is starting to fight back. Good for him. He is fighting fire with fire. Sending Giluiani out there to take the heat while he, “stays above it all”.

      • AnninCA

I’ve never doubted that McCain knows how to hit hard. That’s really obvious as a character trait. He blistered Obama in the last debate.

What I wondered was if he’s got good economic advisors who can expand his message beyond “cut spending.” A spending freeze is stupid. That’s not an answer.

I want to hear what the plan is to rejuice this economy, and nobody better suggest green jobs. That’s too airy.

        • vinnie

The top 10% of Americans pay 80% of America’s taxes. you increase capital gains tax, less goes into wall street in terms of investments. You tax companies, they have less money to hire resources and will give less money for 401K plans, for healthcare plans, etc. Obama’s promise to not increase 95% of Americans taxes sound good, but most of these people don’t pay taxes anyway. So, what’s the point in that?

          • cynic

I’m nowhere near that upper 10%. I’m not even at the upper end of middle class. I’ve paid a helluva lot in federal taxes, and the Bush years were no exception.

It’s easy to say that the rich pay 80% of America’s taxes. All you need to do to say that with a straight face is to not count Social Security tax. The amount of FICA taken in represents an enormous annual total. The rich pay comparitively little of that total, because the rich are obviously less numerous, and because the annual amount for individual workers is currently capped.

It’s hard to argue that FICA shouldn’t be counted, since the government actually uses the money as if it were general revenue. It’s borrowed from the trust fund and spent; it is counted to reduce the apparent size of the federal deficit. It isn’t used to determine who pays the most taxes, however.

        • Country First

I have to disagree with you. As deeply in debt as this country is, we have to cut spending. A start would be to find out where the waste is, cut that. Scale down the spending at the top and stop the wasteful pork. And, I don’t think a spending freeze is stupid. My mother used to say, watch your pennies and your dollars will take care of themselves. She came up poor, got her GED in her 40s, never owned a credit card, paid as she went, never drew a welfard check or food stamps. She and my dad owned their own home. Neither she nor dad owed owed anyone a dime when they died. I think her philosophy was a pretty good one.

I’m glad Rudy’s on our side.

Rudy just plain rocks. And what a great point…tie Obomb’s crazy commie friends to the ridiculous nonsense Obomb spews about the economy and his “global redistribution of wealth” complete utter NONSENSE.

I saw on another blog Palin handled a heckler at a rally this morning, I just love this woman she is getting better and better as the days go on.

I thought Hillary had it but Sarah is unique in her delivery she is one class act, I only hope many others see that and not let political talent like that go to waste

    • Touchet

I am a former Hillary Democrat turned independent, and I have to agree with you on this. Sarah Palin is turning out to have that certain spunk Hillary needs to have. After Sarah gets some years of experience under her belt, I can see her as President.

      • AnninCA

Hillary had to campaign with one hand tied behind her back.

She couldn’t go after O in the same way as Palin can.

There’s a threshhold, I guess, of criticism because they are both Dems.

I think she was plenty spunky. Hill won the popular vote.

        She should be the candidate.

        And the country needed that.

The Democrats are now floundering because the country “gets” their mistake.

They are viewed, now, with skepticism. They can’t even put the most qualified candidate forward.

Why should we trust their spin?

That is why there is 20% undecided.

        It’s obvious.

The SDs went along with Pelosi, Inc. She’s an idiot. The country knows that now that she exerted her voice.

        There is tremendous regret.

And Obama may well lose due to that factor.

It will be a mandate against the Democrats. 58% of the public says they would like to see ALL of congress voted out.

        The public gets it.

We are down to pick your poison time.

Obama under fire for missing gun vote

      ——————————————————————————–
Adam Harrington / CWN Asst. News Editor
      ——————————————————————————–

State Senator Barack Obama signed his candidacy papers for Congress in early December. Later that month, he missed a key gun control vote in Springfield. ()
When Hyde Park State Senator Barack Obama packed his family off for a Christmas vacation in Hawaii, he thought he would rest up before a grueling Congressional campaign this winter. Instead, he created the first major issue by missing a key senate vote for a gun control measure.

The bill, which would have made unlawfully carrying a firearm a felony instead of a misdemeanor, failed in the state senate by six votes in a special post-Christmas session.

Obama said he was on a long-planned vacation to visit his 80-year-old grandmother in Hawaii and that his infant daughter became ill while there, preventing him from leaving early to make the vote.

Obama and the two other major candidates in the Democratic primary, incumbent Congressman Bobby Rush and State Senator Donne Trotter, all support the bill and have identical positions on gun control. But his rivals were quick to use Obama’s absence against him.

“As far as doing the job he is expected to do for his community, [Obama] dropped the ball,” said Trotter, who attended the special session and voted for the gun measure. Trotter said Obama’s presence could have changed the outcome since several senators voted “present” to avoid taking a positions on the controversial bill when it appeared that there would not be enough votes for passage.

Rush contrasted his post-Christmas activities with Obama’s. “I was working on a public service campaign to prevent gun violence over New Year’s while Obama was vacationing,” said Rush, whose efforts included running paid newspaper ads and making public appearances warning against gun violence.

“We have to keep fighting gun violence and that’s where my focus is even if that is not where Senator Obama’s focus is,” said Rush.

The special legislative sessions were precipitated by a December 2 Illinois Supreme Court decision that overturned the 1994 Safe Neighborhood Act on technical grounds. That law made unlawfully possessing a gun a felony; when the law was overturned, the crime automatically became a misdemeanor again.

Called into special session by Governor George Ryan, the legislature agreed to pass constitutional versions of most of the Safe Neighborhood Act provisions, but a coalition of Republicans and Downstate Democrats balked on the felony penalty, arguing it was excessive and would unfairly penalize otherwise law-abiding citizens using guns for self-defense or hunting.

“The Safe Neighborhoods Act was a very important piece of legislation-the governor called us back three separate times [to revive it],” Trotter said. “Senator Obama missing the vote [helped cause] the piece of legislation to still be inactive. It’s indicative to a point of the senator’s lack of commitment on this piece of legislation.”

Noting that Obama had voted “present” on an unsuccessful motion to reduce the penalty for unlawfully carrying a gun in 1998, the Rush campaign suggested that Obama’s failure to show up for the vote showed lack of commitment to gun control.

“Senator Obama did not show up for the vote then [in 1998], and he did not show up for the vote now,” said Rush.

Obama says that he attended the first special sessions and supported the gun felony legislation, but could not attend the last vote because of a family emergency.

“We had been in special session for a week before Christmas trying to get the issue resolved,” Obama said. “The governor called another special session for the Wednesday after Christmas, and I missed the vote because I’d taken my family to Hawaii to visit my grandmother. My 18-month-old daughter became ill over there, so I was unable to return in time for the vote.”

Obama downplayed the importance of the vote, saying that the issue will be reconsidered in the future. But he conceded that the senate may not get the chance to vote again this year.

“It’s clear there are 30 or more votes, [enough for] passage in the Senate, but it’s not clear that [Senate President] Pate Philip will let it come to a vote,” Obama said.

How do you do a screen save?

    • trails

Hey. I googled for Obama, and on the second page of listings, I found his legislative office mentioned in Chicago under the name, get THIS, Barack J.Obama.

I couldn’t access the page, natch. The site’s probably been down for years. Also, I don’t know how to screen shot, and I’m on an Ibook, so directions will not help me, plus I’m a tech dweeb.

Does anyone have an Illinois Blue Book for the appropriate years? Is his middle name or initial listed there? I wonder what his middle name is said to be on his birth certificate?

Barack J. Obama. Honest. That’s that it said.

      • trails

Forget it. I googled again and everything listed was current. I really should stay off the Web. I don’t understand it at all.

Also, maybe the J was a typo. The keys J and H are right next to each other.

I’m embarrassed, and I apologize to all.

I too saw the Barack J Obama thing but could not access the page. I actually was trying to access any page and they all were taken down so not sure what that means.

    Here’s a thought.

I wonder why Osama bin Laden hasn’t released a tape gloating over Wall Street’s collapse.

The economic implosion of Uncle Sam was his expressed objective.

    Yet, no gloat. I wonder…

    • PhxNickD

No one ever talks about this, but you are right; Bin Laden’s goal was not to just kill the people in the World Trade Centers. It was in killing those people, who were representative of the world, the he would destroy the world economy.
While this economic crisis has many different factors involved in creating it – what is happening in the world is what Bin Laden planned to achieve.
Bin Laden also said he had the time and patience to plan his next attack on us, do you think 8 years is long enough to do it again? And yet again to attack us from inside our country, this time with help from the democratic party.

Here is something else Obama will lie about, probably tonight in the debate. He will try to say that McCain is against banking regulation. The following completely refutes that and supports McCain’s claim that HE, not Obama, tried to regulate FannieMae back in 2005. Please post this on every site you know of! This is a direct quote from http://www.votesmart.org:

“Title: Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005
    Date: 05/25/2006
    Location: Washington, DC
    Speech

FEDERAL HOUSING ENTERPRISE REGULATORY REFORM ACT OF 2005

Mr. McCAIN. Mr. President, this week Fannie Mae’s regulator reported that the company’s quarterly reports of profit growth over the past few years were “illusions deliberately and systematically created” by the company’s senior management, which resulted in a $10.6 billion accounting scandal.

The Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight’s report goes on to say that Fannie Mae employees deliberately and intentionally manipulated financial reports to hit earnings targets in order to trigger bonuses for senior executives. In the case of Franklin Raines, Fannie Mae’s former chief executive officer, OFHEO’s report shows that over half of Mr. Raines’ compensation for the 6 years through 2003 was directly tied to meeting earnings targets. The report of financial misconduct at Fannie Mae echoes the deeply troubling $5 billion profit restatement at Freddie Mac.

The OFHEO report also states that Fannie Mae used its political power to lobby Congress in an effort to interfere with the regulator’s examination of the company’s accounting problems. This report comes some weeks after Freddie Mac paid a record $3.8 million fine in a settlement with the Federal Election Commission and restated lobbying disclosure reports from 2004 to 2005. These are entities that have demonstrated over and over again that they are deeply in need of reform.

For years I have been concerned about the regulatory structure that governs Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac–known as Government-sponsored entities or GSEs–and the sheer magnitude of these companies and the role they play in the housing market. OFHEO’s report this week does nothing to ease these concerns. In fact, the report does quite the contrary. OFHEO’s report solidifies my view that the GSEs need to be reformed without delay.

I join as a cosponsor of the Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005, S. 190, to underscore my support for quick passage of GSE regulatory reform legislation. If Congress does not act, American taxpayers will continue to be exposed to the enormous risk that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac pose to the housing market, the overall financial system, and the economy as a whole.

I urge my colleagues to support swift action on this GSE reform legislation.”

    • PhxNickD

Yeah, this is the stuff that Sarah missed last week during her debate. While I do not believe the democrats are all responsible for this economic crisis they played a big hand in it. All this pointing the blame solely to the democrats needs to be straightened out. I hope McCain hits hard tonight. VERY HARD

The worst, after all this lies, they DEMAND, trust from the American people. We just can’t let this happen. Not in our courtyard. The truth and honesty, has to prevail. I found this in readers articles at RCP.

Pharaobama and Michelle: Big Plans For You

Author and fellow blogger, Michael Zak, reminded me about an interesting statement made by Michelle Obama last February at UCLA:

Barack Obama will require you to work. He is going to demand that you shed your cynicism. That you put down your divisions. That you come out of your isolation, that you move out of your comfort zones. That you push yourselves to be better. And that you engage. Barack will never allow you to go back to your lives as usual, uninvolved, uninformed.

Normally, one wouldn’t go too far with such a statement, thinking it typical, if a little bit creepy, political rhetoric. When considered against the background of Obama’s “Public Service” plans, however, the unease builds substantially.

According to the official campaign website, Obama has a plan for “Universal Voluntary Public Service”. Correct me if I’m wrong, but if we’re doing it universally, is it really voluntary? And what about the parts of the plan that are specifically noted as NOT being voluntary?

Let’s go back a moment and read what Obama said in a speech in December, 2007, as he was campaigning in Iowa:

“Your own story and the American story are not separate — they are shared. And they will both be enriched if we stand up together, and answer a new call to service to meet the challenges of our new century … I won’t just ask for your vote as a candidate; I will ask for your service and your active citizenship when I am president of the United States. This will not be a call issued in one speech or program; this will be a cause of my presidency.”

[there is more but it is long, read it there.]

      It’s called COMMUNISM.

Communism fell in the former Soviet Union

China is embracing forms of Capitalism

Socialism and Communism have been proven abject failures in all of the worlds dominant nations.

And yet, O’barky and his band of 1960′s radical pals still think Communism/Socialism is a good idea.

I kept thinking last night while “not sleeping” about “Animal Farm” by Orwell so, this morning, skim read the thing again.
      SHUDDER

“No one believes more firmly than Comrade Napoleon that all animals are equal. He would be only too happy to let you make your decisions for yourselves. But sometimes you might make the wrong decisions, comrades, and then where should we be?”
      - George Orwell, Animal Farm, Ch. 5

“they had come to a time when no one dared speak his mind, when fierce, growling dogs roamed everywhere, and when you had to watch your comrades torn to pieces after confessing to shocking crimes.” Chapter 7

“It had become usual to give Napoleon the credit for every successful achievement and every stroke of good fortune. You would often hear one hen remark to another, ‘Under the guidance of our Leader, Comrade Napoleon, I have laid five eggs in six days’; or two cows, enjoying a drink at the pool, would exclaim, ‘Thanks to the leadership of Comrade Napoleon, how excellent this water tastes!’”

      Comrade Napoleon Obama …
more equal than all the others

The whitewash of the Obama-Ayers connection is proceeding at full speed. Efforts are being marshalled to repaint Ayers as somehow respectable and as an “ex-radical”(i.s. see NPR article here: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=95442902

We all know Steve Diamond’s excellent work at Global Labor and Politics (www.globallabor.blogspot.com) exposing the radical agenda of Ayers to pervert education to his authoritarian ends. But it can be useful to hear Ayers and his wife and accomplice Bernardine Dohrn speak themselves to bury any notion that these people are not hardened radicals (as though it is even arguable that people who bomb innocents are even sane). Below are videos from Youtube from the November 2007 reunion of the Michigan State University chapter of Students for a Democratic Society (SDS), the radical, Tom Hayden-founded organization from the 60’s where all these guys met and which gave rise to the Weathermen. Listen to these two and just TRY to tell me they are not hard-core radicals to this very day:

Right after the dust up over the pigs with lipstick controversy, and just as the economic crisis was becoming prime time new, Obama started using a teleprompter even at campaign events. This made him sound increasingly coherent in contrast to his otherwise halting speeches on the stump. Do we know whether he is still using a teleprompter even at campaign events?

I am not so much worried about being rounded up for exercising my First Ammendment Rights up by O’Barky as I am about being black listed.

We live in an information age where databases exist knowing everything about almost everybody.

Anonymity is ony as good as the web masters oath.

Protest against an O’barky dictatorship and you could find it hard to get work, credit, health care or anything that could be compromised with just a few entries into the database.

We’ve seen how the Obama thugs operate. It’s not that far fetched.

The FISA vote? O’barky wants to keep an eye one every one.

      From the LA Times

In short, he (Biden) just makes stuff up. But he does it with passionate, self-important intensity. He’s like a politician in a movie with a perfect grasp of a world that doesn’t exist. He’s not an expert, he just plays one on TV.

Yes, he’s a blowhard and a perfect complement for Oblahblah.

Uppity Woman visa vie Googles 2001 search engines found an old Obama resume and it includes something very important:

    Director, June 1985 – June 1988

Organized and directed a not-for-profit community development program in low-income areas of Chicago’s Far South Side. With a membership of over twenty churches and civic groups, the organization trained local leaders to formulate and execute a range of community development projects, including job training programs for area unemployed, college prep programs for low-income students, parent initiatives to reform public schools, and campaigns to clean up hazardous waste sites.

This on Obama’s own resume confirms Obama working at the time of the ABC coalition on school reforms headed by Tom, John and Bill Ayers because the DCP was an important part of this coalition in bringing Blacks on board and Acorn was used likely as intimidation against the other formed coalitions.

This is also likely why Bill Ayers group managed to do in a period of the fall of 1987 to the spring of 1988 what could not be done in the 2 years prior, and that was get a program of school reforms together that would be the manifesto of school reforms in Chicago. There is no way this could have occurred if there wasn’t a co-ordinated effort amoungst people who knew eachother and who had the same objectives, ie the Ayers family, Obama and Acorn!

Possibly already posted somwhere here, but in case it hasn’t..

According to Axlrod…Turns out 0bama knew NOTHING of Ayers past!

    http://www.nypost.com/seven/10072008/news/politics/bomber__what_bomber__132490.htm

WASHINGTON – Barack Obama’s top political adviser said yesterday Obama “didn’t know the history” of unrepentant bomber William Ayers’ activities in the violent Weather Underground movement when the candidate attended a political event at Ayers’ home in 1995.

“When he went he certainly didn’t know the history,” chief Obama strategist David Axelrod told CNN – arguing for the first time since the story surfaced early this year that Obama was unaware of Ayers’ past.

“There’s no evidence that they’re close,” Axelrod added.

Nothing to see here folks, move along… Yeah right!

ACORN office in Vegas raided in voter-fraud probe
By OSKAR GARCIA – 3 hours ago

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Nevada state authorities are raiding the Las Vegas headquarters of an organization that works to get low-income people to vote.
A Nevada secretary of state’s office spokesman said Tuesday that investigators are looking for evidence of voter fraud at the office of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, also called ACORN.
No one was at the ACORN office when state agents arrived with a search warrant and began carting records and documents away.
Secretary of State spokesman Bob Walsh says ACORN is accused of submitting multiple voter registrations with false and duplicate names.
The raid comes two months after state and federal authorities formed a task force to pursue election-fraud allegations in Nevada.
