I missed that one. Pelosi actually said if Obama is elected there would be another stimulus payment? So, if McCain is elected she’s going to approve one, right? I’d call that blackmail, but given the fact that the last stimulus payment didn’t do anything to help the economy the word blackmail is a little too strong!

The bailout hasn’t even helped the stock market!

I work my butt off and I’m watching my tax dollars going everywhere but not to anything that would actually help me and my family and my neighbors. The last stimulus payment went to pay bills, but it didn’t do anything to improve the quality life for anyone I know. It didn’t make me able to afford health insurance, didn’t stop the Wall Street from going under, what was the whole purpose of the first stimulus payment, anyway? I’ve seen nothing come out of it, so why would a second one be any different other than to help increase the government’s deficit?

Why would any person or organization professing to believe in clean democracy object to revealing the names of the people influencing its policy?

One such is Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) — a self-important moniker if ever there was one — which has repeatedly refused to tell The Hill who sits on its board of directors, unlike all eight other members of the Congressional Ethics Coalition.

CREW’s secrecy is hypocritical. Its avowed mission is to promote greater transparency in federal politics. Its website boasts, “Our aim is to encourage officials to be open about their values and to act based upon their honest and best assessment of the public interest.

“If a government agency withholds information to which the public is entitled, CREW will go to court to enforce legal rules regarding disclosure.”

Sounds fine, no? But transparency is also appropriate for an organization that is at the center of partisan disputes, such as the growing ethics war in the House of Representatives.

CREW assisted former Rep. Chris Bell (D-Texas) in drafting a complaint against Rep. Tom DeLay (R-Texas) that resulted in the majority leader’s admonishment by the House Committee on Standards of Official Conduct.

Last May, CREW wrote to Attorney General John Ashcroft requesting an investigation into whether former Rep. (now Sen.) John Thune (R-S.D.) violated a federal criminal statute prohibiting members of Congress from lobbying their former colleagues for one year after they leave Congress.

In October, CREW asked the Department of Justice Public Integrity Section to investigate whether Rep. Marilyn Musgrave (R-Colo.) broke federal law by running her reelection campaign out of her congressional district office.

There is a pattern here. In the overwhelming majority of complaints and critiques detailed in news releases posted on CREW’s website, Republicans or their allies are the targets. One of the few complaints lodged against a Democrat was a joint complaint against Sen. Blanche Lambert Lincoln (D-Ark.) and Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-Tenn.).

The only thing that matters about Frank and F&F was he said they were a good investment long term in April before their stock tanked 90%.

In other words buy now, screwed later.

I do not believe that Barney is blameless you have given only a few of the facts… there are many other facts out there to support his desire to GIVE houses to the poor…I have heard him say that with his own words….see the clips of Barney and hear his pleas…I’ll buy the popcorn anyway wait for Barney and Dodd Pelozi to reappear in these ads ..maybe together….it will be entertaining if nothing else..

Saying something like that is frought with danger and no-one with a rudimentary knowledge of politics would say it unless they were feeling desperate. The Obama campaign right now reminds me of a football team at the beginning of the fourth quarter with a 7 point lead but their quarterback and running back are out. All they can hope to do is hold on in the face of the oncoming onslaught. I also heard today that McCain personally believes that elections are won and lost in the final days. Obama has shot his wad and McCain has kept his powder dry.

If Plastic Jesus Obama does win, his blend of neocon economics and foreign policy with Whole Foods Nation hectoring moralism and a veneer of cultural radicalism [hip-hop "artists" in the White House and such] will spark serious electoral backlashes in 2010 and 2012.

Doodad Pro is the most famous resident in Nunda.

And ever since ‘he’ donated thousands of dollars to Barack Obama’s campaign, people cannot get enough of him.

Unfortunately, it appears Doodad Pro does not exist.

According to an article in the Oct. 13 issue of Newsweek, Obama’s war chest benefited from $17,130 in $10 and $25 dollar increments from a person named Doodad Pro of Nunda and over $11,000 from Good Will of Austin, Texas. The problem is that these identities cannot be confirmed, according to Newsweek. Neither name had ever been publicly reported because both individuals made online donations. The Federal Election Commission (FEC) informed the campaign it had to returned the money received from the unnamed donors. The money was returned using the credit card numbers used for the donations.

The address listed by donor Doodad Pro — 10 North State St. — happens to be the same address as Lloyd & Lynn’s Liquor & Wine in Nunda. Lloyd and Lynn Kirwan said they did not make the donation and are shocked by recent media inquires about who did.

“I got call from the magazine last Friday asking about Doodad Pro, I told them I didn’t know what they heck they were talking about … the whole thing is getting blown way out of proportion,” said Lloyd Kirwan as he described the sudden interest in his store’s address. He said that a store called Doodad’s Boutique was located next to the liquor store, but closed last year. The store was a consignment clothing store with knick-knacks for sale operated by Patricia Cutler of Nunda, who was not available for comment. Now, there is a real estate business in its place. The building used to be a hardware store in the 1980s, but split into two store fronts some time after it closed. The building is owned by Tom Byrnes.

Kirwan said he is not the one who donated the money, but has been asked about Doodad Pro before.

“About six months ago we had local police come to the store and report that a Doodad Pro had ordered sporting goods merchandise from this address,” said Kirwan. That was the first time he heard of Doodad Pro.

“A few weeks ago people who said they were state sale tax representatives asked about the whereabouts of Doodad Pro,” he said, adding, “This is the third instance I’ve been asked about such a person, I don’t know whether it’s a case of business theft or identity theft, but something is definitely going here.

“My next step is to have the owner of the building change my address,” said Kirwan. “You’d think if they wanted to find this person they would just track down the credit card. I don’t even own a credit card.”

Contributions of $10 or $25 do not need to be publicly revealed by the campaigns because they do not exceed $200. This is why a donor can fraudulently use any name or address for small online donations. Obama’s campaign said the money has been returned to the donor because it exceeded the $2,300 per-person federal campaign donation limit, according to the article in Newsweek. The FEC is in the process of auditing Obama’s small donations.

Last year, Obama’s campaign refused to offer any information about its small donors to campaign watchdog groups while the McCain campaign posted the information on its Website and supports measures to make campaign funding more transparent. Obama has raised more than $450 million of campaign money amidst scrutiny of the authenticity and legitimacy of his smaller donors.

The Newsweek article reported that earlier this year, the Obama campaign returned $33,000 to two Palestinian brothers in the Gaza Strip who had bought a huge portion of Tee shirts from the campaign’s online store. The men had listed their address as Ga., which the campaign thought was Georgia and not Gaza.

The “truth squads,” the lawsuits and mainly the threat of lawsuits and investigations into anyone who says anything negative about The One have already set the scene. What if barky’s campaign already has agreements from all the 0bamamedia that they’ll “at the last minute” have a bout of conscience and decide to “not run negative political ads?”

The media’s recent “desire” for everybody to “play nice” since the Ayers stuff has come on the scene makes me really really suspicious of how this is gonna play out.

Breaking News: on Sean Hannity radio show now, Jerome Corsi says he has documentary evidence Obama was in direct contact and supporting far-left wing politician Odinga (Obama’s cousin from the Luo Kenyan tribe). Obama went there in 2006 on a Senate trip and was supporting Odinga in his bid for President of Kenya, even after Odinga signed a memorandum of understanding with Muslims that if he won, Odinga would support Sharia law. Obama remained in direct contact with Odinga by cell phone after this. Odinga started tribal violence after Odinga lost, 800 Christian churches were burned down, but Obama still supported Odinga. Also, documents from Kenya regarding whipping up tribal violence to win the election and then claim fraud if we leave. Odinga’s party members claim Obama knew about this document – plan. I know almost nothing about finance so trying to figure out what has been going on here is a little like a blind person trying to piece a jigsaw puzzle.

I definitely accept the idea that the Democrats allowed abuse of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and they certainly share responsibility for this debacle.

However, I doubt if they are the only parties to blame. I asked someone who knows quite a bit about finance and they don’t know what is going on either. That person did suggest that actions by hedge funds could lead to the initiating circumstance for this current crisis. So far that makes as much sense to me as anything. This is what Wikipedia says about hedge funds:

“The assets under management of a hedge fund can run into many billions of dollars, and this will usually be multiplied by leverage, meaning that their influence over markets is substantial. Hedge funds dominate certain specialty markets such as trading within derivatives with high-yield ratings and distressed debt.[1]”

So I conclude from that..if a hedge fund withdrew their assets from one of the investment banks bloated with bad mortgage securities or whatever they are called, then that could tip the scale. To me, that means this current situation may not have developed except for such an action…which, of course, has a lot of bearing in a major, critical election.

Also, the 9/11 Truth website had a very interesting 2004 interview with Catherine Austin Fitts, former deputy secretary of HUD. According to her, the Dpt of Defense uses the mortgage market to funnel funds for black programs and thus can manipulate the mortgage market regardless of any other circumstance.

I am very curious about all this, but it won’t affect my vote. Obama truly is a sleaze and a liar and an opportunist and the New Democrats are no better. I think McCain is an honorable man and I will vote for him. I just hope he shuts out that weasel Phil Gramm as an advisor.

Did anyone tell Carville that people don’t actually vote until Nov. 4th? All the polls had Kerry up by double digits at this point, and ahead in all the battleground states. Carville is just doing his best depress the vote spin.

It is simplistic and incorrect to say — Fannie was not in the subprime business at the “critical” time. Kurtz explains a lot of what was happening and what drew so many private banks into the mess.

Frank was asleep at the switch, I believe, in not acting on legislation the administration wanted a couple of years ago. I recall that the Hagel/McCain bill passed a Senate committee.

And Frank definitely did advise people a few months ago that Fannie had its problems in the past. That was the subject of the O’Reilly tape. And Frank is supposed to be the smartest guy in the House?

On 8/21/08 I placed a $258.00 dollar order with them and never got it. They lied to me over and over about the order. Finally I got a tracking number from them and they had sent it to Texas. I don’t live in Texas. It was refused on the 24th of last month. They kept telling me it was sent. They called me last Friday and said they sent it. They called me Monday and said they sent it. I said I thought you sent it Friday??? Today, this morning at 10:47am they called me and said we have your package back and wanted to know if I wanted it. WTF! I said yes go ahead and send it. At 3:35pm I got a call saying that my package had been broken into and it all was not there. They put me on hold. Came back, I told her I wanted my money back. Hey, if you can’t track the FedEx number, it’s probably because the item hasn’t actually been picked up yet by them. The store probably has a “spotted” trailer outside that the store loads up and then FedEx comes by every so often to pick up the trailer. It could take a couple of days before the package gets a scan at the hub. Keep checking your tracking number. Same thing happens with packages at UPS and DHL. I used to be in the shipping industry and this is probably what happened.
