A simple look back at the problems Countrywide suffered two years ago illuminates this. What or who was the catalyst that brought everything to a boil in the past few weeks. The cooking of the books is not new, and anyone who believes it is is blind. The democrats were awfully quick to jump all over this and blame the president. Yet they fight acknowledging any part in the build up of the mortgage problems. Who was it that thought that it would be a good idea to give mortgages based on welfare payments? The problem is thatthe law now denies allowing people to stay on welfare for more than two years in most cases. Where did they think the money was going to come from after that? They knew better, yet they pushed it through anyway. Now people who have been responsible for years will have to pick up the tab for those who never should have been encouraged to buy a house without also being encouraged to learn how to budget and plan. OT: My sister and I went to Taco Del Mar today to drop off some flyers I had printed for them. There were two gentlemen dressed in their uniforms standing in line. My sister and I both thanked them for their service and I paid for their lunch. When they got their order, they asked if they could sit with us. They were both so wonderful - both returning from Afghanistan in February. One had also been in Iraq. He had 5 children, aged 8, 6, 4, 2, and 1!! We talked about how the MSM sucks and how they never report any of the good news about the war. They told us about how they built schools and a really nice hospital, where Afghans were coming in to get glasses for the first time and healthcare they had never received before. It was a wonderful experience but disheartening too as NO ONE ELSE CAME UP TO THEM AND THANKED THEM. Grrrr. Well, at least we did our part. :-) Please ... if you ever see one of our fine men or women in the military, thank them for their service!!! Screw those American terrorists!

What we have today, in Obama and others, is a strand of socialist thinker, a re-distributor of wealth (double the cap tax on people who actually invest capital and grow the economy to give cash to people who don't actually pay taxes in the first place and call it a "tax reduction" / whew, speaking of torturing a definition), but with an important distinction: <strong>They want to do it with other people's money.</strong> Take a look at the candidates. The relatively modest Palin family gives more to charity than Joe Biden. The McCain's giving dwarfs the Obamas'. I don't know if socialists don't believe in giving or only in having the rich give and leave them alone. But that's what's going on.
