Alternating…

Between being furious, and wanting to throw up, with the gamut of emotions in between. Why? Because I cannot get out of my head the photos of those young (and not so young) people, men and women, wearing “Sarah Palin Is A C–t” t-shirts at a Philly rally this weekend. Honestly, I cannot stop thinking about it since I saw Truthteller’s story — see “The Obama Campaign, Role Models, Patterned Violence [UPDATED with Photographs of Misogynistic Obamabots at Palin Protest in Philadelphia]” — as well as SusanUnPC‘s, and Uppity Woman‘s excellent posts at No Quarter on this. I will not have those photos on my blog, though, so if you want to see about what I am talking, go to one of the stories here at No Quarter. Or Obama’s site – they had it there, too (“had” may be the operative word). Ahem.

I’m furious at these young people, naturally. For thinking that calling the Governor of Alaska a despicable terms is not just fine, but “cool.” Every photo, they are just BEAMING with pride at how clever they are. And why? Because they know they can. Because they have seen that they can say whatever they want to about women because the DNC and the MSM have.

I’m furious that it has become acceptable this Election Season to treat women with such blatant hatred. These people are not calling Gov. Palin a “c–t” because she is a Republican, after all – they are calling her one because she is a WOMAN. They did exactly the same thing to Clinton, so no party affiliation claims will wash here. This is flat out misogyny.

I am furious that it has become more important to try to embarrass Gov. Palin with “Troopergate” than to mention that her former brother-in-law had a Domestic Violence Restraining Order , in addition to all of the OTHER issues with him (drunk driving in a patrol car, tasering his stepson, etc.). Rather, the desire to “take her down a peg” was more important than to acknowledge that this is one violent, abusive man who should not BE a law enforcement officer.

I am furious at the men and women in the Democratic Party, people in my own family with daughters of their own, standing by while their Party began a systematic attack on women – standing by and saying NOTHING. I think we all remember the youtube videos of the horrible things said about Senator Clinton this season, not just by the media (HERE’S one), but by members of CONGRESS (Cohen, Jackson, Jr., et. al). Even worse, though, were the ones who were happy that Clinton was being treated like this because it meant their candidate was going to be the nominee (despite Clinton continuing to win big state after big state after big state). Evidently, they didn’t care WHAT it took to get Obama there – attack Clinton for being a woman, steal votes, and claim RACISM every time anyone tried to ask a question of their candidate. If they had supported their candidate and spoken out about this horrible, sexist treatment, that would be one thing, but they did not. Speaker Pelosi even stated in an interview with Greta van Susteren that she had been “too busy” to notice the level of vitriol directed at Clinton, and women, this year.

I am furious that I have worked so hard for women’s equality to see it thrown away so cavalierly. All of those marches, all of those protests, all of the work, the pain, the dedication, to have it just disappear in the blink of an eye. Even worse, to have women’s organizations like NOW support the very candidate who used misogyny to get the nomination is just staggering.

I am saddened that this is the country in which my nieces and grand-nieces will be growing up, where they can be called the filthiest of names just because they are female. And my nephews and grand-nephews will grow up thinking this is perfectly acceptable behavior because in both cases, their PARENTS allowed this to happen. (And for my family who work in universities, go look at those kids in the photos and tell me they are not college-aged kids. These are the people YOU are teaching, and look at what they think is acceptable political discourse.) I wanted better for them than what I had to deal with growing up. Now it seems that they will have it at least as hard – they may have more employment opportunities, but they will know they are not held in the same regard as men. They will know they are considered less than, not as good as, just sex objects for, men.

Honestly, I am alternating between raging at what my former Party has become, that so many people in my life will support it anyway, and weeping for what is happening to women in this country. This is not what I wanted for my nieces and grand-nieces, my sister and cousins, my mother, my aunts, myself. This is not what I expect from my country. It bears repeating: THEY ARE NOT WEARING THESE T-SHIRTS BECAUSE PALIN IS A REPUBLICAN BUT BECAUSE SHE IS A WOMAN.

So when your daughters come home from school, and toss out the c-word, or the b-word, you can thank yourselves for supporting a party that treats women like crap. Thanks shitloads.

If, goddess forfend, Barack Obama wins (read: steals) this election, I guess he will have a record: he, along with the DNC, will have not just set back race relations fifty years, they will have set back the Women’s movement 50 years, too.

Yes, Amy. These two sentences say it all. I cannot believe the party I supported for so many years would get behind a man who has advantaged himself at every turn by this misogyny and that kids are stupid enough, girls in particular, to defame and debase themselves this way.

These are the same girls who said all sorts of filth about Hillary as well. They do not yet understand that when they degrade and devalue any woman in this way, they degrade themselves — and give the world permission to do the same to them.

    This will not be forgotten.

Thank you so much for posting this piece.

  • Kal

Amy — and Ani — Thank you for this post. This is the reality we have all been living as feminism became just one more dirty word for genuine progressivism over the last 20 years. The women’s movement is still facing huge unspoken but deeply entrenched hatred of women who get out of place. And these photos are designed to get Palin off the ticket.

I am still so grateful to her for being who she is. Not Hillary, but another wonderful inspiration for all of us.

  • Sue

I am deeply saddened and disgusted and I’m not a Democrat. I can’t imagine the hurt you all must feel being treated this way by the party that supposedly has been for women’s rights all of these years. What a betrayal.

I can relate to your feelings, Amy. When I try to bring this up with some Obama supporters their response is “Well, Obama is not responsible for this”, or “it is just fringe elements.” They neither recognize or care about the misogynistic comments as long as a Democrat gets in because, of course, Obama will bring unity and hope and do the right thing. It is to the point where this 30 year Democratic voter will vote McCain/Palin with absolutely no apology and indeed with determination that it is the only choice I can make to try to keep Obama and his thuggish supporters out of power.

I have decided to boycott all media (inluding all Internet use except for e-mails) from October 29-November 4th. That I hope will save my sanity.

  • bert

Thanks, Sue. You have no idea. There are tears in my eyes as I read you and as I think of how the Democrats have acted this year. Forty years I was a Democrat. And all this time all I was was a c*** that gave lots of time and money to the party. I feel betrayed.

Honestly, my first thought on seeing the T-shirts was wondering what kind of upbringing they had. I know you’ll probably blast me for this, but something went very wrong for these kids years ago and it wasn’t the Democratic party. The problem is much deeper than that.

  • Midlife Mama

    Great post, Amy.

Rage is also the word I would also use to describe my feelings over this entire election cycle. I simply cannot believe one candidate could cause so much long-term harm; first to my former beloved party and now to our country. Whether he wins or loses this country is damaged and divided in very significant ways.

The abusive treatment of Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin, by males in general and especially young and older women, appalls me to the core. What kind of world will my daughters be living in? This is totally unacceptable and someone must be held accountable. That person is Barack Obama because he has done nothing to stop this behavior in his adoring media or his cultish supporters. I blame him completely for not speaking up against the sexism and instead whining about the race card — a card he himself has been playing!

I just thought the Bush years were bad. Mark my words, if Obama wins we ain’t seen nothing yet. This cannot be allowed to happen!

  • kenoshaMarge

Don’t you understand? The same women that drool over Obama will sit silently by while another woman is demeaned because they are not and never have been feminists. They may try and talk the talk but they don’t walk the walk.

And many of them, even those that were Clinton Democrats see nothing wrong in doing this to a “Republican” woman. Cause conservative women aren’t feminists. And when organizations like NOW do not support female candidates they are not a National Organization of Women, they are just the female arm of the Democratic party. And as such, partisan to their core.

The disgust we feel for misogynist men should be far stronger towards women who sit silently by while another woman is subject to the sexist media treatment.

This is why women will never be equals. Too many of their own sex would rather gain a man’s approval than support another woman. And many of those types are so-called leaders of the “feminist” movement.

If you watch the “View” you are part of the problem by giving those harpies any ratings at all.

    Welcome to Post-Partisan Politics.

Just a few minutes ago as I was reading EJ Dionne’s article in which he is having the vapors over the radical things McCain supporters are saying, Joe Scarborough was asking Kelly O’Donnell if the things she is hearing at McCain rallies are any more extreme than what she has heard at Democratic rallies. To her credit she said they weren’t. She pointed out that Obama supporters had turned up at McCain rallies and said some very harsh things and that in 2006 at Kerry rallies a lot of harsh things were said about President Bush. And I don’t remember hearing either Kerry or Obama telling supporters they were going too far the way McCain did this week.

By making such a big deal out of what is regrettable, but common behavior by political supporters, the media is creating unnecessary division and fanning the flames of hatred.

  • tarma

    Thanks, Amy.
I’ve been reading the various pieces about the rampant, systematic and institutionalized violence against women that is condoned and legitimized by the New World Order DNC. I’m speechless. The bizarre irony is that hate speech, pornographic images, and “in your face” insinuations/threats of violence have been linked with hope, change, social justice and civil rights in a frighteningly Orwellian manner.
The culture of Obama has mastered the use of “feel-good” language and rhetoric to manipulate visceral emotional responses that remain untempered by reason, civility, or critical thinking. This is one scary cult.

  • http://johnmccain.com Galt. Master Thrall of Planet Triskelion

Where is Obama, Sharpton and Lewis? Complaining about the prejudice of sexism used by Obama supporters? When they don’t complain they endorse and encourage it. Juxtapose a black person into what these images are and they would sing a different tune or in this case scream bloody racism. Prejudice is prejudice. You don’t right one wrong by committing another wrong.

Ayers wanted to right the wrong of social injustice by bombing. His protege Obama wants to achieve his aims by divide and conquer using racism/race baiting, threats of race riots, sexism, misogyny, classism, elitism and homophobia.

Everyone concerned about prejudice should really think twice before voting for Obama. His use of race, gender, class and sexual orientation to divide us is despicable! Do people really believe his tactics will stop if he wins? They are farking idiots if they do. He will use the same tactics for his presidential agenda after getting a taste for how well they worked during the election.

    Amy,
Thanks for this post- you put into words what we feel. I have 3 daughters and a son and I am appauled at what has transpired this political season. From Clinton and now Palin. I want a leader who defends all Americans. Obama’s silence through the primary and now shows the creep he is. I don’t want my children growing up in a world that treats any human like this! I’m all for free speech but this is beyond making a political statement. This is cruel and disgusting. Furious and wanting to throw up….. that pretty much sums it up.

My allegedly “liberal” father, mother, brothers and one of two sisters sneer at Palin just as they sneered at Hillary this spring, feeling only slightly more comfortable doing it because Palin is a Republican and therefore it’s 100 percent “ok” to say the sleaziest, nastiest crap about her. When they hit Hillary, it was always with a little bit of caution, since they all intended to vote for her if she were the nominee, a result they all fought hard against. Now that it’s Palin running against the Chosen One, the gloves are off.

And when they know I am listening and don’t want another knock-down drag out fight, they switch to safer ground- making fun of “Grampy McSame”‘s age (he’s younger than my parents, but that doesn’t stop them) adding prejudice against seniors to their ignorant bigotry. All in service of The One.

Oh, and of course- they all agree that if Obama loses, it will be because of racism. Period. End of story, no need to discuss this further. Move along.

My sister asked me why I still have a Hillary sticker on my car. I tell her straight out- I was for Hillary for President, and now I’m for McCain. Obama isn’t my second, third, fourth or fifth choice. I guess I’m just a racist, and not a good Sexist and Ageist like the rest of my “progressive” family.

Unfortunately we are trying to combat a form of religion that despises women and the wealth of anti American anti Christian billionaires who are frothing at the bit to weaken and destroy our country. Women are the majority in this country, and Obama has splintered any gender cohesiveness there may have been in order to win this election.

And this is all condoned by the powers that be … the poison trickles down from the top and seeps into the hearts and (barely functioning) minds of O supporters. I don’t call them Democrats, because that description fit me until I got a real taste of the O-version of the “New” DNC/Politburo during the primaries. I blame O’s rise primarily on W. Bush. But we now know the potential nightmare of an Obama Nation, and that McCain is NOT Bush-3. Country before party, any time. Any responsible American voter would not support the anti-American fraud, O.

Stop the routine, Obama supporter. That McCain called his wife that was reported third hand. It was debunked, but it’s a convenient Obama supporter talking point. On the other hand, I heard Obama make a reference to to Hillary’s time of the month and I SEE the Obama supporter “Cun*” tee shirts and hear his supporters say that Palin should be gang raped and other foul misogyny coming out of their mouths and through their words on the internet.

You obvicuses usly haven’t been reading this blog or you wouldn’t have to ask why people aren’t voting for Obama. Here’s a quick recap: He flipped flopped on FISA, campaign finance reform, gun control, etc. He is a a friend, working associate of radicals like Wright, Pfleger, Meeks, Ayers, he voted present 130 times in the IL state State and he knocked people off the ballot in IL including his former mentor. Alice Palmer. He campaigned for Odinga who supportes Sharia law in Kenaya and whose supporters burned people to death in Kenya. His supporters gamed the caucuses and disenfranchised voters in MI and FL and at the sham of a convention Obama was selected not elected. That ‘s a few of the reasons I will never, ever vote for Obama.

Every one of these nasty photos probably spells another vote for McCain/Palin. And the silly little girls and boys who display vulgar slogans probably don’t give a fig whether Obama is elected or not. He’s just the hot item of the moment, and many probably won’t even bother to vote on election day. The whole procedure may be too boring for them, too bourgeoise, or just too uncool. If the MSM was admitting the truth, they would tell people in no uncertain terms that such behavior may spell another 1968. Most Americans get very alarmed at the appearance of anarchy and radicalism.

They would not go the “unqualified” route with a male governor.
    Never.
    Only women are unqualified.

  • http://mmb silverfox

it appears that” feminism” is now more “selective” than authentic. however, it has become apparent that inauthentic feminism has become a weapon in and of itself.

Gloria Steinem illustrated that point when she made the direct and insidious hit on Sarah Palin, and sent the authentic sleeping feminists a big wake up call. Ms Steinem was used against a good and decent sister who is rising in power, and Steinem is so entrenched in her privilege and intellectualised “feminism” that she has become blind to the obvious.

the msm and the covert political left cover that drives the obamacoup do not want any woman in any place of power that will not be under the jurisdicton or control of a male power over personage.

woman President? woman Vice President? not on the male ruling class’ watch. a few bones thrown here and there, but a woman that close to the seat of power will not be accepted.

it’s an ongoing and insidious war on women. it’s been going on for lifetimes. past won battles for the feminist liberation movement have been assimilated and co-opted for some time now… observe the generations of women who came after the Second Wave of Feminism….most of them are simply indoctrinated with the foolscap that women have all the rights they need and can do anything a man can. they are bought and sold by the male privileged dominant culture they are now deeply invested in.

during this election cycle it has become crystal clear that the enemy of women still manipulate culture. and co-opt and assimilate any real gains in freedom, and use those gains to bludgeon any real push against the “glass ceiling”.

cracks in the ceiling will be deftly patched, and we will all move along like good little girls

    not.

    not on my watch.

we are now back at square one, and the enemy is not only lingering at the gate, but is the designated gatekeeper. and the gatekeepers, believe me, have absolutely no respect for for individual human rights, and in particular, female rights. not really.

John McCain and Sarah Palin are bucking a very powerful system, and it is my guess that they will not prevail.

they are brave beyond measure, and will have my vote in Nov… however, they are up against a Goliath that will chew them up and spit them them out. and make it look like they deserved it.

that is how heinous the situation has become.

    watch and learn, my friends.

and pray if you know how.

It is impossible in this election cycle to be a Democrat or a supporter of the Democratic Party and be a feminist. Those so-called feminists, such as Gloria Steinem, who have joined the Obama bandwagon in bashing Sen. Palin have forfeited all credibility and should never again be given creedence. Their minds are in the gutter and they have sold out all authenticity for whatever meager ego boost they get by kissing the backside of the Democrats. Women must unshackle themselves from the hostage scenario the Democratic Party has created by using Roe v. Wade to strong-arm women into voting Democratic. We have not seen such an uncompromising, strong woman as Sarah Palin who actually does have it all while staying completely authentic. The anti-Sarah phone feminists and the Democrats who dismiss her and call her names are simply spiteful and jealous. She is more real than they will ever be.

And as for the Democratic Party, women need to ask themselves a simple question: why do you believe this party of Barack Obama will respect your womb when they will not even respect your dignity?

I still recall my 6 year old nephew who came home from school with a new word he had learned from his peers and called his 4 year old sister the “b” word. Punishment was swift and stern. It was the first and last time any epithet crossed his lips in our presence.

It is obvious that no one ever taught these kids how to behave in public, let alone how to disagree with others without going for “the kill”. I know that some colleges and companies have resorted to teaching courses in manners to “civilize” kids like these before they meet employers and clients. Obama could say something to put a halt to this, these are his supporters, but he’s not because he condones it all.

The only thing I hope for is McCain puts aside enough money to hire a ton of deprogrammers for Obama’s cult followers. When McCain beats the pants off Obama on Election Day, there are going to be a lot of koolaid drinkers in serious withdrawal!!!

“I guess he will have a record: he, along with the DNC, will have not just set back race relations fifty years, they will have set back the Women’s movement 50 years, too.”

Wait Rev Amy, it was abuse at the hands of “progressive” men in the 1960′s that sparked the woman’s movement. Ironic, the same people are back, people like Bill Ayers, and so is the blatent misogyny. With any luck, women will rise up once again.

Not Hillary perhaps but after seeing her yesterday in Richmond, she will do nicley.

I took my 10 year old Sarah to see Sarah Palin. She begged me for days to go.

We left home at 0630 and arrived in Richmond about 0830. We waited to park and stood in a long line. My Sarah looked at everything and talked to others in line. She asked them questions about what they think of Gov. Palin and Sen McCain. She took in all the info and kept asking more. We waited for hours in the hot sun to get a good seat I am tomato red to prove it.

It was a great event from my perspective I was 40 feet from Palin with an unobstructed view (great shoes BTW)

But my Sarah looked at that woman and knew that she could reach any goal because of how that woman stood there in front of her. My Sarah saw in that strong mother there on the stage the infinite possibilities of her own life. My Sarah stood patiently in hopes of getting an autograph which Governor Palin so graciously provided.

Ladies and gentlemen Sarah Palin is a capable and competent person who can easily lead this nation and who worst public failing is that she defended her family to vigerously and didn’t understand why people who break the law should be police officers.

We need more people like her in this country. Less of the botoxed crowd of falseness like Biden & Pelosi or the criminal magnet Obama.

Respect for women and what they can do is vital to a nation’s survival.

Jackie, I too attended the Palin rally in Richmond yesterday. I am from here so I did not have far to drive(Chester, a suburb). I saw what you saw yesterday. Someone very capable of leading our country with principal, integrity, honesty, and concern for Americans foremost on her agenda. I am appaled at the treatment of Gov. Palin by other women. She is a true feminist and I am shocked by the treatment of her.

I will add this, anyone who says this race is over and McCain has lost is misinformed. There is a real energy and excitment in the GOP that has nothing to do with negative emotions but everything to do with positive convictions that this team will lead our country forward and that we are not interested in this country turning to socialism.

Don’t give up anyone and pay no attention to the polls. Get the vote out!!

Phillymiss, there were no racial slurs, inuendos, nothing like the MSM likes to report. NO white sheets…lol. There was high energy and a positive atmosphere. Everyone is excited about the GOP ticket this year.

There is one point the media seems to be hammering that Gov Palin mistook supporters for hecklers. I was there. There were so many people and the crowd was so massive, they started chanting her name and saying they could not hear her. she thought there were hecklers and the crowd was trying to drown out the hecklers by chanting her name and she calmly defended any protesters right to protest. Her speech stuck to the issues and she gave a wonderful speech.

In the Army among ourselves we are soldiers. Frequently we are not even men or women. We are soldiers in the service of the Nation.

The only soldiers that are grossly set apart are those that do not carry their own weight. Sure things get crude and rude occasionally but in all the years I spent in the military community, I have never seen the kind of divisiveness among the races I see in everyday America.

I often think the soldiers are far more worthy than the general community.

Ask yourself in the mirror, “Am I worthy of a soldier’s life? What have I done to better America today?”

  • jackie

Thanks for writing this, Rev. Amy. When I see Democrats running around the streets with T-shirts that say “Sarah Palin Is A C*nt” I feel sick inside and embarrassed to be (have been?) a Democrat, because people might think I condone that behavior. We’ve been hearing a lot about “dog-whistles” recently, right? The media has been talking about it constantly. Well, this misogyny ain’t a dog-whistle; it’s a freaking bullhorn, and I haven’t heard one peep about it in the news.

The media can spend days dissecting these supposed subtle racist dog-whistles from McCain’s camp, but zero time reporting on this pathological, violent hatred of women. Why is this tolerated? Why isn’t this reported on? Because Palin’s an anti-abortion Republican woman. Oh, well, that’s different, right? Because when Democrats talk about rights and fair treatment for all, they don’t mean the people they disagree with. Is that it? When they condemn racism, sexism, and homophobia, they’re talking about racism, sexism, and homophobia perpetrated against Democrats, not Republicans, huh? Look how easy it has become under Barack Obama’s leadership to dehumanize people you disagree with. Having an opposing point of view shouldn’t make you fair game for sickening, bigoted attacks.

And I don’t for a moment imagine that these aren’t attacks on all women. I’ve realized in the last several months that these kind of Democrats have simply found a convenient outlet for the generalized hatred of women they already have festering inside them. Most of them managed to keep this hatred relatively in check with Hillary (I said “relatively” and “most of them”)—but it was still palpable and ugly to behold. With Hillary, however, they were allowed only a limited outlet—but they did their best to demonize her during the primary in an effort to make her a more socially acceptable victim so they could get as much bashing in as possible. But when Palin came on the scene, the floodgates opened. They finally had an acceptable target for their sadistic misogyny—a Republican woman. They knew no one was going to say anything much about it, so they could indulge their hatred to their heart’s content. And they’re still at it.

  • Tom K.

Oh, I forgot to add that if you’d told me a year ago that the top of the Democratic ticket and our Democratic “leaders” would remain completely silent in the face of an abomination like this in their party, I wouldn’t have believed it. In my opinion, on account of their silence, our leaders and the media bear guilt equal to the perpetrators.

  • sharonevolving

You are so right on in this comment. I tore up my NOW card years ago. I am hating the way ‘feminist’ suddenly means pro-choice liberal supporter, and anti-anyone else. I am actually liberated by the way Republicans stand up for their women, and speak out against sexism – who’d have thunk it??? And yet it is the liberals who have become the party of haters, WOMEN haters. I never watch the view and I wish women across the country would WAKE UP to the crappy treatment we are getting, and blindly accepting.

This election should be opening our eyes to

    1. the danger a biased media is to our democracy. And how the media has given credence to Hollywood celebrities who should keep their politics at home and just stick to charitable and human rights. We don’t need a DeNiro, Silverman, Cybil to tell us how to vote or think. Madonna will you please keep your moth shut on the way to the adaption agency in Africa!

    2. How the women’s movement failed to rid itself of partisan politics. The left is certainly just as misogynist as the right.

    3. How the Democrats have become a party of opportunists using their self righteous white guilt liberalism to foster fraud and corruption and abetted the hi-jacking of the party by Chicago thugs.

    4. How using misguided patriotism on both the left and right have misinformed the gullible electorate to follow anyone who sells them snake oil. Bush with his faux evangelical hog wash and now Obama with his hopey/changey bull shit.

What we must start doing is thinking for ourselves and exchanging information that is founded in truth. That’s the purpose of the Internet “Hopefully.” That’s why it’s important for each of us to remind the rest of us to not go astray with manic hate and lies. The truth will set us free.

  • PhxNickD

RRRA, thank you for sharing your thoughts with us, as a man and as an American I sit here in sadness, shock and disbelief. For the last 34 years of my life I considered myself to be a fair and open-minded person. Over this past week I have changed. I will never look at a women or black person in the same light again. For those that want to say, “look we were right he was a racist or sexist” Go ahead it no longer matters to me.

Unlike many here, the one saving grace is my family loves Palin. We always enjoyed talked about Hillary but they love Sarah! You know the saying “birds of a feather…” well many of us Hillary supporters probably surrounded our selves with like-minded thinkers. Look outside those circles and you will find others that we have ignored because they thought differently then us in who they supported. Now I have conversations with my republican neighbors and ignore my democrat friends.

God forbid if Obama gets elected on November. If I had the money I would leave this country that I love so much. I hope for the best and that this country does what is right. But I am now willing to purge many of my so-called “democrat” relationships. It is not only the democratic party that I am absolutely disgusted with but also people who support any part of this terrible terrible thing that is happening to America.

The sad thing is I have gone from thinking we had some good democratic candidates way back in January to regretting being part of this country.

  • mcpalin hill

DWF — I agree with you about the polls. They are all oversampling Democrats by 10%. Everything must be in place to give Obama the edge but the fact is this man cannot garner over 50% of the votes. I am voting for John McCain and Sarah Palin this Saturday. It will be my first Republican vote ever. But this time I am voting for Country over Party. In my heart I believe McCain will be the next president because the American people know that we need to work together to strengthen this country. McCain and Palin can do that. This Nation has been on the ropes before and we always fight back to keep our Democracy in tact. We will do so again.

  • mcpalin hill

Pa Goes Red — Obama decided early on to go for the youth vote. He, Donna Brazile, David Axelrod and Howard Dean all said that the base of the Democratic Party could stay home. We were going to be replaced by young voters, AA’s and the creative class (which I guess means Hollywood). He also told an audience of young people he didn’t care about older women — they had their time. Its now time for young people. So this has been Obama’s agenda all along. Divide us by race, by gender and by age. He was going to be the next JFK by changing the message from the Boomers to Rappers. However, Obama ignored the fact that there are 76 Million Boomers and 43 Million Seniors. We don’t wear destructive T-shirts but we vote–WE ALWAYS VOTE.

  • mcpalin hill

Sue — it was the worst betrayal of my life. I was a 3rd Generation Democrat. I loved my party-win or lose because we were on the side of the angels. It hurt when I heard that a top Dem said the party was tired of the issues they were known for in the past. They wanted a younger, hipper party where the voters would be less demanding. When they forced Hillary out and gave Obama the nomination I was finished. I will vote against them all this year. I am ashamed of the party I thought I knew.

jackie — I think Obama’s appeal is that he’s an empty vessel in which people with problems place all their feelings. He is purposely vague in his speeches which is why he uses a teleprompter so as not to give away his real agenda. People are hurting and his THROW THE BABY OUT WITH THE BATHWATER change appeals to them. In an interview a German said of Hitler. Ok we lost some of our freedoms but he made us feel so important that it was worth it for a while.

This country has never voted for a liberal. Ask George (one state) McGovern. The same rabble followed his campaign too. Only it wasn’t the C word then. The pot smoking Hippies wore T-Shirts which said things like Down With The Universe then but it was the same — LETS GET RID OF EVERYTHING THAT WORKS AND GO OFF A CLIFF TOGETHER. Luckily it was a non-starter because the Silent Majority as they were known then voted in huge numbers for Nixon.

After Bill Ayers and The Weather Underground started bombing buildings little was heard of the pot smoking hippies who thought it was so cool to be Anti-American for a time.

The thing is NOW has tried to make it seem like there were only Democrats at those protests, marches. There wasn’t. My mother has 4 sisters. They were all in their early to late 20′s. My mother was the only one in her 30′s.

They had to drag her with them and all their friends. My mother was the only one that refused to burn her bra, she told me not to pay attention to these women they’re all going to get breast cancer if they don’t wear their bra’s. I remember everything they’d say and she’d tell me the opposite. Her and my aunts would have horrible fights.

I remember thinking they’re not going to want us to come to the next one. I had 8 brothers and sisters, but my youngest Aunt wanted to make sure I was there. Even when my mother didn’t go/ would refuse toward the end I was taken along. My mother was the oldest and I think in some ways they needed her to approve of everything they were doing. The only things my mother was there for was she wanted women to be able to have the same rights as men and work where they wanted. In what was considered a man’s field. She wanted an end to men being allowed to control women and knock them around.

Anyway one thing I remember clearly was there were Republican women there, as many as there were Democrats. Two of my aunts were Republican, and two like my mother were Democrat. There were women from all religions. Everyone of my aunts were a different religion. From Methodist to Catholic.

There were so many issues you don’t even hear them discussing anymore, such as a woman’s right to keep her infant if she wasn’t married. Back when I was child your parents could take your infant whether you were 16 or 21 if you lived with them and weren’t married. Place it for adoption. Which is not so long ago since I was born in 62. For rape because then when you were raped, you must have asked for it somehow. They could bring lines of men you didn’t know in to make you look like a whore and prove you were the blame. It was ok for your husband to knock you around. It was your duty to have sex with him, he could rape you and it wasn’t considered rape.

Now they act as if they were fighting for one issue abortion, which was not the case. It was for the right for EACH woman to decide. To have a choice. These were the people that molded my young mind whom I do not know anymore.

There were women from all social classes. It was a group/groups of women standing together to say WE have a voice.

  • Cat in NJ

The Obama machine is a brilliant one. A despicable, fraudulent, anti-US organization, but brilliant. Not only is Obama doing everything under the sun (much of it illegal or immoral) to win the vote, but he’s ensuring the Obama/Ayers dream of what this country should be. They’re already instilling this repressive, abhorrent philosophy into the impressionable souls of American youth. Anyone with children … please remind them of the American values that made this nation great, not the values of O that will bring us down. Schools are already indoctrinating our kids.

  • Susan1968

Today of all days I receive an email from the DNC begging for money with this note:

    Susan —

You need to see some of the offensive attacks we’re up against. I just recorded a short video on my laptop about John McCain’s negative ads.

In the remaining 21 days, we need to be ready to respond to smears like these — and worse.

We need to show that our supporters will fight back against the McCain campaign’s low road tactics. That’s why our goal is to bring 100,000 new donors into this movement before midnight on Friday, October 17th.

Now is the time to make your first donation. This is your last opportunity to partner with a previous donor who will match every dollar.

So this is how I responded (with a link to No Quarter & a pic of the Obama blog selling the offensive T-shirts):

Sorry DNC. I’m not buying Axelrod’s astroturfing ways.

Obama supporters’ vile disgusting antics have pushed me into FULL protest vote mode.

You turned a blind eye to the sexism and misogony against Hillary, and you do it again against Palin.

As a woman I won’t tolerate this from my own party — I’m in Florida and I’m voting “R” straight down the ticket after reading this:

    Great Post REv. Amy!

The media misogynist frat-boys with great assistnace from Herr Axelrod and Obambi Himself (youtube mega-hit: “Obama Gives Hillary the Finger”) woman-bashed and DIMINISHED Hillary throwing her off the ring, fearful that a woman of her intelligence and strength would be President!

You are correct — we have made no progress, it has been an illusion.

Sex role stereotyping is still the mindset of a large segment of Americans.

Early on the dim wit Obamabutts descended on NQ like a plague of locus — demanding that we must not vote for McCain because he called his wife a c*&t — no real proof just a third hand account from some biased jerks.

Now we are all being called c*&t and worse — and it is in your face — written on t-shirts — the message board of times.

I say we are being called this vile name because what these dim sit Obamabutts say or do to Hillary or Palin they are doing to all women. We are supposed to stay in our assigned roles and to be quiet — wear the shame of being born female in a man’s world.

Bush sent us backwards decades and now the DNC wants to send us backward CENTURIES — to the time of the holocaust of women in the dark ages when millions of women were murdered because they were women — the excuse used was that they were witches.

    Women’s rights are Human Rights.

I read in Chatelaine that in Israel a group was formed a few years ago that had members from both Israel and Palestine–all were women. Guess what? They both had worked hard and presented briefs to their mutual government bodies to advance a more humane, progressive, feminist agenda that would ultimately end the divisions of War.

And, you guessed it, the guys at the top in both countries, rejected these brave Women’s ideas that would have brought peace and sanity to both Israel and Palestine….goes to show you what women will do for what’s right–not for a MEGALOMANIACAL ride to the Top Job to satisfy a smug, skinny, sexist resume’s ambitions….

If we believe in democracy and in America then McCain IS the only choice we have — because he is the only one who legitimately WON his party’s primary!

Barry Soetoro/Obama is the illegitimate DNC candidate. Hillary Clinton is the legitimate Democratic candidate.

Yes, indeed…Without Respect for Women, there is no democracy. Hillary suffered the misogynist media and Obama’s own abuse and now it’s Gov. Palin! The exDemocratic Party should hang its head in shame….

If you think about it, Obama has barely held his office for longer than Palin has, and they have similar levels of experience. Yet it’s racist to say that Obama is unqualified. Meanwhile, the same people who cry racism if you bring up Obama’s experience compared to his competition’s will then go on and say that Sarah Palin is just a stupid ex-beauty queen who should stay at home and raise her kids.

    Sickening.
