The New Agenda’s Powerful Visualization of Sexism

Today’s the day for posts about women and children. Stay tuned for Reverend Amy’s powerful post early this evening — I’ll keep the subject of Reverend Amy’s post secret for now, but I’ll give you a hint that it’s about HRC!

You will be infuriated and sickened by the well-produced, visually compelling video created by another Amy — Amy Siskind, the founder and leader of The New Agenda, always linked in our blog roll.

Amy’s no stranger here — we’ve posted many of her essays — including “The Obama Boys’ Club — Does the White House Economic Team Have a Woman Problem?,” “CNN’s Tilt Towards Misogyny,” “TAKE ACTION! NO to Genital Mutilation on our Shores!,” and “Sarah Palin and the Feminist Revival.”

And now for the video which — trust me (and Ani, who’s also seen it) — once you’ve seen it, you’ll be forwarding it to every woman you know:

Isn’t that something?!

By the way, if you go to The New Agenda’s YouTube channel, you can see Part 1 as well as 8 other videos produced by Amy Siskind and other members of The New Agenda.

I hope that all of you who know teen girls will share this video with them.

Somehow, I had completely missed Grayson’s “K-street whores” comment. Now I understand why both you and Amy are so outraged at him. My apologies for defending him (although I still wish that *somebody* in elected office would take foreclosure fraud seriously).

    Thanks for posting this.

  • seattlegonz

Wow, and I didn’t know that mathews could creep me out any more than he already has and I never watch him…he should be in jail.

  • ProudMilitaryMom

I am glad this video is getting spread around. I first caught it at Uppity Woman’s and forwarded it on to friends and family.
Amy Sisking does a fantastic job!

  • Anita Finlay ("Ani")

It is appalling how much of this behavior is still being swept under the rug as if it is no big deal. A zero tolerance policy is the only thing that might break this pattern.

  • oowawa

This video is a wonderful and instructive collage.  I like Amy Siskind.  The New Agenda is living up to its name . . .

propertius, foreclosure fraud is my biggest gripe with politicians like Sarah Palin and Barack Obama, both of whom have botched this issue, Sarah Palin by pretending it does not exist, and Barack Obama for possibly violating the Federal Hobbs Act, extortion clause, by luring people into HAMP without disclosing that they would be subjected to parallel foreclosure.

And as I posted on dailypuma, the first image of the kids on stage was so sleazy I didn’t even check it a second time to see how loud the audience was cheering.

    ARGHHHH BRB >:o

Ok composre; Well any state that allows for Sharia law to have a foothold sure isn’t helping. How long have women been fighting this battle? I suspect for many centuries. At this point in time it is substandard thinking to even allow one moment of this filth to be broadcast, we wouldn’t put up with it in a racial tone, or sexual preference tone, why is it even allowed, if CAIR is so fing concerned about hate crime about we see that women treated as human equals, not objects, parts or whole, not machines, nor gifts, human beings. I never stop being pissed about this issue, ever.

    Both posts gone

Our turn to be hacked? Posts showing in left read column but not in actual blog space.

Well, I didn’t know about that remark either. Please don’t apologize.  Your remarks about Grayson were worthwhile info in assessing him as a whole person.  Human beings, even politicians, rarely can be fairly depicted as all good or bad.

There’s a reality show — oh, I think it’s on the Discovery Channel — about the little girls (and some boys) who do the pageant thing.  I tried watching it one night and was so repulsed, and was sickened by the parents’ twisted addiction to turning their little girls into hyper-sexualized plastic dolls.

  • rosa

He reaches new heights every day.

I, too, am repulsed by these parents and these “pageants”. Rather than let their children BE children, they parade them around a stage as Barbie dolls in the flesh. It is wretched excess and the parents should be ashamed of themselves. Disgusting.

I agree, Amy Siskind and The New Agenda do a wonderful job (and you can sign up to get this kind of piece by them at their site).

Remember all those years ago the documentaries, “Killing Us Softly,” and “Still Killing Us Softly” abt advertizing and women?  Sadly, little has changed since then, it seems.  Is it possible that it has gotten worse?

Such disturbing images pictured here.  Remember all those years ago the documentaries, “Killing Us Softly,” and “Still Killing Us Softly” abt advertizing and women?  Sadly, little has changed since then, it seems.  Is it possible that it has gotten worse?

  • Tricia

Those little girls doing a provacative dance with such zest make me feel ill.  What kind of parents would let/encorage their little girls to do that?

  • rosa

I think it has gotten  worse than ever .

  • yttik

I agree, it’s actually getting worse.

  • Amy Siskind

Thank you for posting our video NQ!  And for all your support!!!

  • Noogan

Fantastic video, New Agenda. Thanks for posting it Bronwyn. I think people need to be reminded constantly about this issue. I did appreciate Mark McKinnon’s article in The Daily Beast calling out offenders. We’ve still got a long way to go, unfortunately.
