Yes, indeedy, as time goes by, the media is starting to shake off its KoolAide induced haze, and are beginning to see that – SURPRISE – Obama is a (Chicago-style) politician!! Wow! Who knew? Ahem. Many of us did, that’s who.

Bernie Goldberg discussed Obama’s Fall from the MSM’s “slobbering love affair” recently, based on research he conducted for his book of the same title Slobbering Love Affair: The True (And Pathetic) Story of the Torrid Romance Between Barack Obama and the Mainstream Media, and evidenced by recent statements from prominent members of the media:

Gee – is it possible that some folks are really starting to get what we were trying to tell them (and for which we were roundly dismissed with charges of racism, sour grapes, and much worse)? Even some folks in Hollywood are getting it now:

Here’s the thing, Gene – maybe if you had actually done some homework, maybe looked at the local Chicago papers, or thought to yourself, “huh – I wonder why we can’t see Obama’s transcripts, or medical records, or any paperwork at all from his time in IL?” Or even, “why did Obama have to get everyone thrown off the ballot to win his IL seat?” Or how about, “Why did Obama’s team expose the sealed divorce records of both front-runners for the US Senate seat?” Or maybe, just maybe, THIS question: “Why is this guy running after being in the U.S. Senate for 143 days?” Maybe then you wouldn’t have wasted your vote, and be regretting it now.

I have to say, I LOVE Jane Lynch, so I was thrilled to see that she got it. I have tried and tried and TRIED to tell my Obot-loving family that Obama does NOT support same-sex marriage, just the same as the woman they love to hate, Sarah Palin.

While I am speaking of Obama, SC Gov.-Elect Haley was on Greta discussing Obamacare the other night (and thanks to fellow writer, Eastan, for alerting me to her appearance):

Yep – she’s going to be representing our state, and I have to say, I am glad of it.

Anywho – so some in the media continue to wake up (others, not so much – three words, Olbermann and Maddow), but there are signs of life now among not just the media, but the Hollywood cheerleaders, too.

Okay, so NOW do I get to do my “Told You So” dance? Hmm – that wouldn’t be in keeping with the spirit of the season, so how about this: Welcome. We have been waiting for you.

Breaking News: As of this writing, the Senate has voted to allow DADT to advance. Finally. I knew this was going to happen – it would be left until right before the new Congress came in. But it appears DADT will finally be repealed, thank heavens (and no real thanks to Obama – if anyone should be thanked for this, it is Rep. Patrick Murphy, who has pushed for repeal tirelessly). A final vote should be forthcoming this weekend, but it looks good for repeal!

The Courage Campaign has highlighted an important aspect of DADT repeal about which you may not have heard. This from an email I received today:

Here’s the skinny: the Senate vote was the last legislative obstacle. Now the bill will head to President Obama’s desk for his signature. But even after the President signs this law, no one can serve openly. Certification is first required from the President, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, and Secretary of Defense. It’s part of a backroom deal cut months ago, and it’s ridiculous. We’ve seen how the Administration has dragged their feet over the past two years on “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”. We can’t let that happen again.

It is not a done deal yet. We must keep the Administration’s feet to the fire on this issue so that all Americans who wish to serve may serve.

Had the media done their job in 08 and reported the truth re: Obama he would not have been elected dog catcher, but the press was actively suppressing this information.  As a former Chicagoan I will make this real simple for the media types-Obama comes out of the cesspool of corruption Chicago’s South Side (actually an understatement). All Chicagoans know that “community organizer” is  politically correct terminology for slum landlord. Obama/Jarrett 20 years active participants in these frauds against the taxpayers and the inhumane treatment of anyone who lived in these so-called buildings.  The press can still investigate I’m sure the walls and the people contained in them could speak volumes.

Grim proving ground for Obama’s housing policyThe candidate endorsed subsidies for private entrepreneurs to build low-income units. But, while he garnered support from developers, many projects in his former district have fallen into disrepair.

I read a take on when Lynn Sweet asked That One about the incident with his professor friend/police, that because she followed his Chicago career and his “leanings”, that she bated him. She knew he’d flip into “what-an-injustice” mode. And that’s exactly what he did. that was a powerful and inciteful moment into his “social justice” thinking that I think a lot of people missed. And the cherry was that photo at the WH beer summit–That One walking in front of the professor and cop. And the cop gently helping Prof Gates down the steps. WOW! That was an eye full.

  • getfitnow

Yep, more proof about That One’s Chicago record.

I agree with John. These fools are dangerous.

Interesting comment, wbboei.  Back during the election, there were a few people speaking out, notably in Chicago for the two major papers there (Lynn Sweet and John Kass).  I was shocked that the national MSM disregarded what they said – that was my first clue.

The few negative articles abt Obama were quickly overshadowed by glowing (not based on reality) articles, and attacks on Hillary.  The classic, “look over there!” trick.  You may be right that, overall, the media will continue to protect Obama, but it does seem that a few more members of the MSM are starting to break out.  Perhaps they are looking forward to 2012, and insuring their income, who knows?  But at least SOMETHING is getting out more.

    Great comment – thanks.

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

Oh, great news indeed, Cathy!  Congratulations!

And I appreciate your not wanting to tell your family “I told you so.”  Perhaps you could just hum the tune from the video Diana provided instead!  🙂

Oowawa, that is an excellent point.  Well said.

  • wbboei

Big media criticize Obama?  Won;t happen.  It is like the prisoners dilemma, Besides, his people send them 12 emails per day on what to say and how to say it, and condition access on favorable reporting. Asking peole like Tapper to tell the truth full truth about Obama is like asking a cat to bark.  Decartes said it best: a man is incapable of understanding any argument that interferes with his income.  And so it is here.  That said I do think Cohen had a point that wikileaks and hackers point to the need for gatekeepers.  Unfortunately, big media is utterly incapable of playing that vital role.  If you have any doubts about that review the history of the 2008 primary and then read the ulsterman article on that subject.

How cute Cathy. New Grandbaby and Christmas all in the same month! Congrats!! It’s exciting being born around Christmas………

Congratulations Cathy!  We have two granddaughters, and every year we get a special ornament for the tree for each of them, and I think of them as I decorate the tree.  Of course, they’re kind of hard to forget all year long since they’ve been living with us for the last 12 years . . .

As for obot relatives finally seeing the light: my son has finally renounced Obama.  Of course, the Obama renouncing is always soon followed by a rant against Sarah Palin’s stupidity.  My last advice to him was this: “Just as you now recognize that Obama isn’t nearly as smart as you thought he was, you will eventually realize that Palin isn’t nearly as stupid as you think she is . . . ”

  • Cathy in Ks.

I do agree – more people are starting to wake up.  I have finally heard some Obot relatives admit that they are disappointed in Obama.   I, of course, am taking the “high road” and not saying “I told you so”.

BTW, I have some really good news, at least for our family.  Last Saturday our first grandchild was born.  He is beautiful and a great Christmas present!

Hey Ferd, I think Katmoon said shethoughts she was “enamoured of an ass . . . ”

And as Alfred E. Newman used to point out, “What foods these morsels be . . . ”

Cue the sad violin music, even Obama’s fellow Marxist, Fidel Castro, is disillusioned with his American Idol:

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010/dec/17/wikileaks-fidel-castro-barack-obama

I know that Castro was quite a ball player in his youth. Do you think he lost all respect for Obonobo when little Barry threw out those weenie boy first pitches in his mom pants?

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

Um, are you talking to me?  If so, most definitely, Hillary.  What the MSM did to prop up Obama, including their failure to properly vet him, and in the case of the JournoListers, protect him from damaging stories, is my beef.  Hence why I am glad that, finally, some of them seem to be waking up.  🙂

  • seattlegonz

I don’t know, I think the deal is done and Obama isn’t running again. Hillary is commenting on DADT and domestic issues and I think Obama has left the building, has given up.

  • JohnWSmart

It galls me that these people are just now waking up. They are dangerous fools.

  • Ironic Ike

So what’s your beef?  Did you want McCain or Hillary?

  • Katmoon

My Obamaeron! what visions have I seen!
Methought I was enamoured of an ass.

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

If you watched the video, the point was made clearly that the Washington Post and Time both made comments abt how the 2008 coverage of Obama was poorly done (no freakin’ kidding – like why was his drug use NEVER mentioned, yet Bush and Clinton’s were frequently mentioned?).  They may have REPORTED it on Fox, but they weren’t the only ones SAYING it.

I wish Haley well, too, though she was elected because she was the best candidate for the job.

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

LOL – hey, it was worth another comment, Diana.  You are not only kidding abt some of the folks we’ve had to deal with here in SC.  Scary.

Haley does seem like a real gem.  Yesterday, she said that some Cabinet positions need to be consolidated, and that if the state gets a revenue surplus, the citizens should get a rebate.  WOW.  That would be something, wouldn’t it?  Just like Alaska!

And yes, Haley doesn’t need a stinking teleprompter!  😀

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

It is fantastic, Katmoon – now to end this thing once and for all (btw, this was “breaking news” when I wrote this this morning – 🙂 ).

  • Ironic Ike

Glad to hear DADT was repealed.

The fact that Fox News’ shills think Obama has lost his halo was not surprising; however, I must admit that I never imagined  South Carolina would elect a governor with brown skin.  I wish her well.

  • Katmoon

RRA exactly, I just post the text from the bill on the other thread regarding what takes place on the DADT end. The repeal is fantastic, now lets see it be put into action.

  • Noogan

I’m so happy about DADT. It’s WAY PAST TIME for this to be repealed. When I think of those dozen[s] of Arabic translators we NEEDED but tossed aside because of their sexual orientation, it makes me sick. Now maybe we can actually BE THE BEST WE CAN BE because we are giving Americans the chance to serve their country to the best of their abilities, regardless of sexual gender or orientation.

    Good news.

  • Diana L. C.

OOPS!  My “I told you so” fantasy caused me to forget my other comment.

RRRA, I am so very happy for SC after the horrible string of ludicrous, surreal, ridiculous political theater its citizens have had to endure this last year.  Your new Governor Haley already appears to be a real gem.  Isn’t it wonderful to hear a woman’s voice speaking so well, thinking well without a script, knowing what she thinks, having plans, etc.?

    Go, Governor Haley!

  • TeakWoodKite

    Captain of our fairy band,
    Helena is here at hand,
And the youth, mistook by me,
    Pleading for a lover’s fee.
Shall we their fond pageant see?
Lord, what fools these mortals be!

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

ROTFLMAO – I LOVE it, Diana!  Thank you!  (And I loved it when I saw it on “Scrubs,” too – so funny.)

    😀

  • Diana L. C.

    “blame” not “bleme”

  • Diana L. C.

RRRA—You can bleme the lack of the holiday spirit of being nice to everyone, including idiots, on me.  Here is my gift for you.  You can imagine in your own mind yourself doing this and no one has to know.
