Dear NQ Readers: Happy 2011

Hi NQ Readers–I don’t know how 2011 is going to go down. But maybe our leaders got the message this last election that we want to see some solid solutions and forward movement.

I made my list of resolutions last night. (In 2010 I managed for the first time ever to actually accomplish about half of them!) This year I want to try to become, if only in a very small way, part of the solution. I will volunteer more time on behalf of the local public schools, constantly bug my Congress Critters about things they should care more about, and be the best friend I can be to those around me. Oh, and I want to also learn how to do better animated cartoons. (That requires mastering a difficult program.)

I wish you all health, happiness, and prosperity. I understand that in these difficult times those words seem almost banal, inappropriate even given the enormous problems we face, but I still sincerely wish these blessings for each one of you.

I’m so thankful to be supported by such a talented group of writers and artists. I don’t have an ideology to force on you. I want you to think for yourselves. The women and men who post at NoQuarter are simply committed to truth, no matter how uncomfortable. Let’s hope that 2011 brings us more prosperity and peace as a nation. Thanks for reading and commenting.

Happy New Year, to all at No Quarter. Nice art work as always Pat, now trying to foigure out who is who!

In response to the mention above I present to us young – compared to the earth – folks here:  Andy Williams.

Grown kids are out tonight, but they called to say they made it safely to the party.  Good.  We are staying in and midnight will come without fail.  Merry New Year, y’all.

  • Katmoon

A special Happy New Year to oowawa, haven’t seen you about lately, but then again I haven’t been on much during the past month.

  • armymom

Beautiful picture again Pat. You are sincerely one talented person. May this new year bring you prosperity with your drawings. I wish everyone here a very happy New Year. I agree with the sentiment that although we may not always agree, I believe we’re on the same side and want the same things, maybe just a little different on how we look at it. God bless each and everyone of you.

With the personally miserable year 2010 has been for me, I would normally say, “Well, things certainly couldn’t get any worse in 2011″, but every time I think that things can’t possibly get any worse, they always do. So, this year I’m going to fool fate by hoping that 2011 really sucks. If it does, I’ll have the satisfaction of having my wish come true. If it doesn’t suck…….well……..so much the better. Crappy New Year everyone!  :-D

2010 can’t go soon enough for me, as well. I just want 2011 to be a better year. Nothing spectacular–just better.

Hey. Onofre.  Good to see you.

We have our new grandaughter so the youngest grown up of ours can go out.  So we are not quite doing bad.

A.J. Manchin, the uncle of our new US Senatore Pappa Joe Manchin, said once that he always woke up saying that there will be no hot watter in the Holly Hotel sink (the dive he lived in in Charleston, WV when he was Sec State) so that he would be happy when hot water came from the facuet.  You would have like him.

I, on the other hand, like to hope for fair weather and smooth sails.  I am a viking and know that I am responsible for most of what happens to me.  Remember.  Thor threw down his hammer to splash the seas in order to tell the sailors, who asked him for help:  “Leave me alone.  Stand on your own.”  I used to have a Þor’s hammer necklace.  I resolve to get one this year and take control again of my life.

Self determination is a determined determination.

Damn Ferd, I just got a scare. When I hit refresh, it sent me to a page that stated that I was FORBIDDEN to access this site. Prelude to banishment? Oh well. But if gordo keeps mindlessly spamming here, i might self-exile.

Which reminds me, I wonder what happened to Joseph/Mr. Brownstone/Raging Bigot/Insufferable Asshole has been. Now THERE’S the type of slimy creature pulled from the depths that is so repellent that you cut the line and lose your tackle rather trying to get the hook out of his miserable mouth.

Obviously they don’t love someone else.

God probably overlooks people who have legitimate hatred of someone who deserves it, otherwise most of the people in this country would be limping, if only for their opinion of Obama.

2010 began with lots of uncertainty, tinged with a bit of fear and foreboding….and by the time the year was half over there were unexpected, completely over the top, out of the blue, great surprises that has left the rest of the year peaceful and content.

I pray for no less for all of my NQ friends…in the great and good surprises department!  Happy New Year to us all.  It promises to be a bright one.

Onofre’s arm (required) About a year ago we all, as well as you were under seige from bots. And I asked you not to leave. (as did others) You went AWOL for a while as did the pink bunny, and then came back. Right now we all need all of the support that we can get. Strenght in numbers is what we need in these troublesome times. This world as we read it would be a tiresome place without you. Jackie, Gordo, and their ilk will find out that the world as they see it is a dull place one day, as for you my internet friend you bring light into the darkness. A new year is upon us. Don’t let the bastards get you down. To everyone at NQ Happy new year. Larry, Amy, Bronwyn,Pat,Suzie, Gonz,Ani. Thanks.   Ferd, The Unflapable and Kat may your family be back together soon. Breeze thanks for all the links and your kind words. God bless everyone here, you are all a blessing and make the world a better place for all of us. AA its bed time. Happy New Year all.   Geoff C. the wiser because of you all.

Que cera cera, Whatever will be will be. The future’s not ours to see.

If we always do what we always did, we’ll always get what we always got.

    Wise words from other people.

I guess we all need to take some responsibility for making our lives and the lives of others better, contribute to making our world a safer and more peaceful one, and preserve and improve our environment for future generations.

Pat, I like the way your toons bring important issues to our attention and give us a forum for spirited debate and comment.   May the comments be constructive and not petty or angry ones in the New Year.

  • SeriouslySickOfObama

Happy NEW YEAR to everyone, 2011. I don’t do resolutions because I don’t believe in Lying to Myself, LOL, but I would like to request that as avid bloggers at NOQUARTER, we display tolerance, respect and allow others FREE SPEECH without name calling or belittling someone who believes differently than we might view the world or what we see as a TRUTH! Most of us are just seeking answers and hoping for someone to answer them.  GOD BLESS YOU AND YOURS and MAY 2011 bring the answers and let us find solutions instead of being part of the problem!! IMHO!!

  • Noogan

Happy New Year, SSO, I don’t do new year celebrations or resolutions either, since I am notorious for breaking them. But I wish everyone here who has struggled this past year a better year this time around. And, I hope this country comes to their freaking senses with regard to Obama. I can’t even comprehend the possibility that he could be re-elected.

  • TeakWoodKite

    Thanks NQ. Happy new year.

  • Geoff C. The Saltine

How the hell do you do that. And merry christmas? What a treat.

  • SeriouslySickOfObama

Noogan, I celebrated for the first time in 25 years with my husband this year, the first year he has had off in 25 years, it was dinner, our favorite champagne and watching TV, haha, then all the idiots in our neighbor decided it was time to start with their fireworks that they bought at Walmart and made all the neighborhood dogs bark for hours, but all in all, 2011 was just a perfect night with my husband, BUT I DO PRAY THAT 2011 brings jobs, food to shelters, affordable housing for the homeless and that OBAMA NEVER GETS RE-ELECTED due to the many LIES he will tell on the campaign trail and be exposed by the MSM, for that wish, I might as well ask for UNICORN to appear, LOL, but you can be damn sure NOQUARTER and other bloggers will expose the lies of babyO, this is my news outlet, not the cable news channels and if he is re-elected, after all he has done, I will scream VOTER FRAUD, too many of his supporters have personally told me they have seen the LIGHT, haha, HAPPY NEW YEAR and post all links that expose Obama for all of us to follow and I will do the same, LOL, SO TO 2011, BRING IT, LOL

  • Noogan

I wish I could say I celebrated. I was up at 3:20 am because we’re having loud thunderstorms and I have 2 dogs who are deathly afraid of thunderstorms, and who will not allow anyone else in the house to sleep if they are in full panic mode. Damn dogs! :)

So my new year is off to a bang-up start! Ha!

But, I will join you in fighting against everything “Obama!” He’s a pox on all our houses.

  • wodiej crackerdawg

Happy New Year all.  There is no day exempt from working on being my best and being a blessing to others.  In between there I pray for God to grant me peace, prosperity and some adventure in life.

I lost my job 10 months ago and one of my beloved doggies Allie died last year.  But when I feel discouraged, I pick up a book on faith.  Joyce Meyer has some good ones…Never Give Up is what I am reading now.  Great especially during tough times like we have now.

I am determined to look at 2011 with hope.

  • candymarl red bone cracker

In 2010 I buried my last living sister. My brother and I are all that’s left.  That experience taught me a valuable lesson.  You can carry the bitterness, anger and hatred to your grave.  Or you can make peace and let it go.

I had serious issues with one of my relatives.  I gave this person a hug and and a kiss after the funeral and said “I love you”.  I meant it and it felt so good.  It was as though something sitting on my chest finally got up and walked away.

That’s what I’m wishing for all here at NQ and to strangers and friends alike for 2011.  That  whatever burdens you carry walk away.

That your friends, family, and foes alike learn forgiveness and tolerance.

Most of all I wish you all one thing and I really  think Spock said it best:  Live long and prosper.

Happy New Year to all, and thank you Pat for all the great toons.

I am always in bed by 8:30. That doesn’t change New Year’s Eve. Woke up to rain this morning.

There’s a Twilight Zone marathon on TV. I love listening to the episodes. The quality of the scripts allow you to listen and enjoy–just like old time radio. The powerful symbolism and metaphors hold up today. Rod Serling was a genius.

BTW, the right Rev. Jeremiah Wright is “preaching” in Berkeley today.

  • kenoshamarge

Happy New Year to All at NQ. You are a constant source of information, amusement and amazement at the depth and breadth of your intellect.

Even the bots are informative for those that feel like studying vermin. Future Pest Control types? Sorry, that was mean. (I meant it but it was still mean.)

    Something to think about:

By three methods we may learn wisdom: First, by reflection, which is noblest; Second, by imitation, which is easiest; and third by experience, which is the bitterest. ~ Confucius

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and Happy New Year!

    Glad 2010 is over!

    Great News:

My Mother is doing Great and she is behaving!  (Namenda for Demenia – it’s working and we aren’t even finished with the build up amount!)

My Son sold his Company for what he wanted effective at Midnight last night!  He’s now collecting all of the income he earns without any overhead and headed to Graduate School in Digital Media in August!

Carol Haka has a 2nd, in person interview for the job she wants with the company she wants during the week of the 17th!

2010 was awful – will never get over the loss of my baby sister.  But, her sons are soaring!

2011 will be the best!  Bring home our soldiers, Bring on the new Congress, Bring on the GOP candidate that is going to kick Obama’s butt back to Chicago!  (My bet is on Sarah!)

Love all of my fellow NQ’ers!  Best to all of you and your families!

    Gonna Party like it’s 2008!

    :-D :* :-D :* :-D :* :-D :* :-D

  • JB in VA

Onofre’s Arm and Ferd – you expressed my sense of 2010, too. It’s pathetic that the only real positive of my year was election results favoring a party that until June 7, 2008 I had demonized my entire life! But with 2010 ending and 2011 beginning I’m feeling strangely optimistic, capable, grounded, and, dare I say it, happy.

Many thanks to all NQ contributors and posters (obots aside) for being so lively, insightful, entertaining, and inspiring. You have helped keep me sane over the last 30 months. May you all enjoy the blessings of health, love, friendship, and productive and fulfilling work in 2011 and beyond.

Hear hear! I’ve gotten to the point I can barely stand to read comments sections due to the frothing rants and personal attacks from so many posters. It’s sad that the media, the Internet and the blogosphere have turned into cesspools. It’s sad that, just as bad money drives out good, ranting and invective drive out courtesy and thought.

An old adage amongst lawyers says, “If your case is strong, argue your case. If your case is weak, attack your opponent.”

Maybe before this country can recover its sanity, it needs to recover its dignity.

Understand that impulse to crawl back into the cave well.  Sometimes you just want the world to go away and leave you alone.

I’m glad you’ve poked your nose back out of the cave, though.  You’re sorely missed around here when you’re gone.

  • donjo

Don’t know where to post this, but it is important – I think.  Maybe we’ll finally start to pull our head out of you know where and attack a problem where it actually exists.  Although I don’t know what Homeland Security is doing in Afghanistan.
Best of the New Year to everyone.

THE Pentagon’s multi-billion-dollar operation to supply food and military equipment to US troops in Iraq and Afghanistan is run in chaos and corruption.

American officials are taking millions of dollars in bribes and a local supplier is accused of having links to the Iranian nuclear weapons program.

The war on terror has created a web of bribery, fraud and waste centred on US military contractors across two conflict zones, an investigation by The Times of London has found.

A recent US Senate report stated that, in addition to offering contracts to companies with ties to Iranian intelligence, the Pentagon was hiring private security companies in Afghanistan that were suspected of having ties to the Taliban and links to criminal networks. . . .

    Via Greg Mitchell…..

For the naysayers who claim Wiki cables mean little: Janet Napolitano just announced a tripling of agents in Afghanistan — to try to halt massive smuggling of cash out of the country revealed in the cables. Billions of dollars have exited.

guest, I am in total agreement with your post!  I can’t stand to see teams of friends attack one or two posters and mock that person for their belief.  If you don’t like someone’s comment, ignore it, move on, let it be, let them post what they want without fear of attacks Don’t BE A BULLY with a group think mind set to use words as weapons against another blogger bc I do follow certain links to read new updated information on topic’s that I have chosen to take up the torch and run the fight for, so to all, I say, LIVE AND LET LIVE and be intelligent, thoughtful, mature and stop the name calling, this is NOT FACEBOOK, it’s a forum provided to us by Mr. Larry AT HIS EXPENSE for us to rant and rave about current events or whatever the hell we want to discuss, but personal attacks make everyone that plays that way OBAMA LIKE!! I know one person comes here just to seek ATTENTION and she will fight with everyone just to get them to go to her level, IGNORE HER, if you don’t feed it, it will starve itself and go somewhere else, IMHO. So, for 2011, let’s learn to play well with others!!!  HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
