obama, fisa, and the assault on joe the plumber

As I watched the assault on Joe the Plumber the last couple of days, launched by Obama, Biden, the media, and Obama supporters made me think about Obama and his vote on the FISA bill.

Does everyone remember the outrage by Obama supporters, when Obama pulled a massive flip flop and voted for the FISA bill?

Well, he missed the first vote:

“Obama (conveniently?) missed the February vote on that FISA bill as he campaigned in the “Potomac Primaries,” but issued a statement that day declaring “I am proud to stand with Senator Dodd, Senator Feingold and a grassroots movement of Americans who are refusing to let President Bush put protections for special interests ahead of our security and our liberty.”

And then he promised to filibuster, but he didn’t:

He broke faith,” said Matt Stoller, a political consultant and blogger at OpenLeft.com. “Obama pledged to filibuster, and he is part of that old politics, in this case, that he said he wasn’t. It will spur us to challenge him.”

Many Obama supporters, those who weren’t pissed at him, suddenly jumped on the FISA bandwagon:
What had been a vicious assault on our Constitution, and corrupt complicity to conceal Bush lawbreaking, magically and instantaneously transformed into a perfectly understandable position, even a shrewd and commendable decision, that we should not only accept, but be grateful for as undertaken by Obama for our Own Good. … it’s our duty to refrain from voicing any criticism of him, because the Only Thing That Matters is that Barack Obama be put in the Oval Office, and we must do anything and everything — including remain silent when he embraces a full-scale assault on the Fourth Amendment and the rule of law — because every goal is now subordinate to electing Barack Obama our new Leader.

snip

The bill legalizes many of the warrantless eavesdropping activities George Bush secretly and illegally ordered in 2001. Those warrantless eavesdropping powers violate core Fourth Amendment protections. And Barack Obama now supports all of it, and will vote it into law. Those are just facts.

snip

Sen. Russ Feingold condemned the bill on the ground that it “fails to protect the privacy of law-abiding Americans at home…”

snip

Obama’s statement warns us that we face what he calls “grave threats,” and that therefore, we must accept that our Leader needs more unlimited power, and the best we can do is trust that he will use it for our Good.”

Commenter Hume’s Ghost wrote:

What really rubbed me the wrong way was how Obama in his statement says essentially trust me with these powers, I’ll use them responsibly. Nope.

So, what does this have to do with Joe the plumber and FISA?

Amendment IV
(Privacy of the Person and Possessions)

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

Digging dirt on Joe is a bad idea, Lee Cary:

This afternoon ABC’s Charlie Gibson reported on his hourly radio news report the results of his network diggin’ dirt on Joe the Plumber. Gibson reported that Joe has a “lien” for failing to “pay his property tax.” The lead-in, stated by a co-reporter, was “Oh, by the way, Joe…”

Here’s a guy who’s just an average citizen, approached by a campaigning Obama, who expresses his opinion. It’s his right as a citizen. Problem is, what Joe said isn’t consistent with the ABC party line. So Joe is now in the crosshairs, and they’ll stay on Joe the Plumber in an effort to ruin his life and destroy his credibility.

This is just a taste of the “Thugocracy” that Michael Barone wrote about. Criticize Obama and the old big media will work hard to ruin you. This is extremely dangerous for this democracy.

Operation Destroy Joe the Plumber- Michelle Malkin:

My syndicated column today reports on Team Obama and the Obamedia’s mission to tear down Joe the Plumber. Yes, we are in the midst of a new contagion: Joe The Plumber Derangement Syndrome. JTPDS.

Now, pay close attention to how the MSM rushes to uncover every last bit of gossip and dirt about Joe Wurzelbacher’s life. Some of it is relevant to the public policy questions he posed to Obama. Much of it is not. More here.

L.A. Times: Joe the Plumber Has Liens!!!!

The Los Angeles Times reports:

According to court records, creditors have secured at least two liens against [Joe the Plumber] Wurzelbacher, whose legal name is Samuel. Ohio has a $1,182 lien for owed taxes and St. Charles Mercy Hospital has filed a 2007 lien for $1,261.

I think we can all agree that this is critical information. Not because it says anything about Joe the Plumber, mind you. But it does serve a useful function: it warns any future citizen who might dare question Barack Obama that his life will be closely scrutinized for any irrelevant but embarrassing information.

So, you know. Critical in that sense.

Democratic Underground launches a full on assault, exposing all of his personal information, rummaging through his divorce papers, and financial records, and more.

Now, I am sure you are wondering how I can blame Obama and Biden for the actions of their supporters? Well, for starters, the same way the Obama camp can blame McCain and Palin for their supporters yelling out *kill him* wrt Obama, at their rallies, even when it never even happened.

And also because Biden and Obama have gone on TV and repeatedly mocked, and insulted, and misconstrued what Joe said.

Joe: “I’m looking at buying a business” So, he doesn’t own a business now, he doesn’t make $250K now, and he won’t make $250K if he buys it, his business will earn $250K.

And here, Obama MOCKS the plumber, and then he MOCKS that McCain is *fighting for the plumber*. And then he scoffs that a plumber doesn’t make $250K a year. So, is Obama mocking the fact that McCain is fighting for the small business owner, who make less then $250K a year? Or is he mocking plumbers, in general, and that it is impossible that a plumber can make $250K a year, because they didn’t go to Harvard? I am confused on what point Obama is making…

So, back to my point. Obama has *enflamed the hatred* on Joe the Plumber. He has mocked him, humiliated him, and not spoken out to stop the insanity that has been launched by his supporters on Joe the Plumber.

Which, now thinking about how Obama voted to support FISA, a bill that “fails to protect the privacy of law-abiding Americans at home…” it doesn’t surprise me.

Obama has allowed, and enflamed a full on violation and assault onto a private citizen, who just happened to be in his own home, when Obama ascended on his neighborhood. Joe the Plumber dared to ask a question of *The One*.

Barack Obama Mocks Joe The Plumber and Joe Loses His Job!

And Obama has failed to protect, or speak out for, the privacy of a law abiding American at home, by mocking him, and not speaking out.

Watch out… you know what’s next.

Amendment I
(Privacy of Beliefs)
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

In my opinion, Obama’s derisive remarks about Joe are the public version of “bitter and clinging.”

I do not think you’ll see instant poll outrage.

It’s just another example that people will think about.

One thing that has great bothered me is the general attitude of service industries. Joe was speaking about building a plumber business. Obama insults these tradespeople by suggesting that none of their businesses are really all that successful.

    Frankly, that’s incorrect.

Many people have built a/c/heating business, plumbing, etc., into good medium-size corporations.

To act like they are all just the jerk on the corner who doesn’t earn squat?

    That’s ridiculous.

This tactic, used by Obama so often, has already backfired very badly.

    It’s another “bitter” moment.

    Joe the Surgeon

Works 80+ hours a week, not because he want to but because there is a dangerous trend towards a shortage of surgeons. Now he is in a higher tax bracket because of it. Obama gets elected and now he is taxed more because he works those long hours just trying to help. And he should be rewarded for all those hours away from his family and no time off in one of the most stressful jobs out there. NOW he is forced to work way less hours just so he is not so penalized.

Now there is long waits maybe months to get surgery. And this will happen quickly. It takes around 12 years to become a surgeon. As it is there are very few going into surgery because of low reimbursements, long hours, higher liability than other areas, and last but not least that mortgage size debt when they get out of school.

That’s what I call a great tax and health care plan. Good luck with that one.

What all these people have done to Joe is a Crime, Joe didn’t ask Obama to come to his street and Joe didn’t make Obama say he would spread the wealth around, that was Obama’s ideas, he is a Socialist, he was raised a Socialist. His childhood Mentor in Hawaii was Frank Marshall Davis, a Communist. Obama wants to take from the rich to give to the poor, that is SOCIALISM

*it’s not the question…it’s the answer*

  • SnarlingCur

People always think of Doctors and Surgeons as rich. They don’t understand what long hours and time it takes to get there, and the loans that have to be paid off at the same time. Sure, after 12 years they’re rich, but if there wasn’t a reward for their effort, how many would do it?

  • http://deleted McCainPalinforUS

A few “undecideds” at work wanted to wait until after the debates to choose a candidate. They’re voting MCCAIN/PALIN because they were turned off by BO’s smug SNEERING, his redistribution of wealth plan, and Ayers. They didn’t shout it out, though, it was all very hush-hush because they didn’t want to be tagged “racist.”

You know, I could buy the race card IF The One had any qualifications at all to be president. He doesn’t. He’s a typical Chicago climbing thug/pol with no real accomplishments so the race card, imo, is unplayable.

I think that in light of the way things have been going, it is more accurate to call Obama a COMMUNIST. Furthermore the totalitarian aspect, combined with the Cult of Personality verges on Stalinism/Maoism. god forbid if these pigs win, we will all be forced to refer to him as Dear Leader.

I think McCain had a One-Two punch with the final debate and the Al Smith Dinner the next night.

He was straight forward and offensive at the debate, and then, he showed his great sense of humor at the dinner.

  • AnninCA

I hate the stereotyping of the middle class by the left.

More people are like Joe. They think. They hear just fine. And they know a BS answer when they hear it.

    Fewer people are radically opinionated.

People on blogs? We may be overly opinionated, which is why we like blogging. Normal people do not see the fun of being insulted on-line. lOl*

    They are, gulp*…….normal.

They are going to hear about the tax lien, which is small potatoes and probably represents a missed quarterly payment, and just see the Democrats as being very fishy. You talk about the middle-class, but how do you actually treat them?

This guy asked a flipping hypothetical question when Obama was out seeking the common man for a photo op.

He’s obviously bright enough to actually ask the right question, too.

McCain, btw, absolutely nailed it today. He pointed out that Joe is the only person in America who actually got Obama to answer a question honestly. *haha

    That was a good one.

  • SnarlingCur

I think you may be right.

My local news stations even joined in on the gang beating of Joe the Plumber! I think it is time for a good health dose of pushback on the press. Have you seen this joke going around. I’m forwarding it to my local newsstations. Ridicule might shame them back to their senses.

The Pope is visiting DC, and Palin takes him out for an afternoon on the Potomac . They’re admiring the sights when, all of a sudden, the Pope’s hat blows off his head and out into the water. Secret service guys start to launch a boat, but Palin waves them off, saying “Wait, wait. I’ll take care of this. Don’t worry.” Palin steps onto the surface of the water and walks out to the Holy Father’s little hat, bends over and picks it up, then walks back. She hands the hat to the Pope amid stunned silence. The next morning, the Washington Post, NY TImes, ABC News, CBS News, NBC News, and CNN carry a story, complete with photos of the event. The banner headline reads: “Palin Can’t Swim!”

I just finished watching The Third Jihad video

    http://www.thethirdjihad.com/30min.html

and exploring the website. It is very frightening. I, too, always wondered why there weren’t more US Muslims publically condemning the radical Islamic terrorists. I always thought that they would want to distance themselves as far as possible from that arm of Islam but now I understand.

After watching this, I went to the Homeland Security plans for McCain and Obama and it is obvious that John McCain understands and has a sense of urgency about this internal threat from radical Islam. I’ve heard him mention it often in his speeches while never hearing it from Obama. McCain’s plan ties it in with his stance on laws (like not weakening the Patriot Act) and with his energy policy (avoiding dependence on oil so as not to fund terrorist activities with our own oil dollars). On the other hand, there is no mention of the threat at all in Obama’s plan other than a mention of 9/11. He advocates weakening the Patriot Act, increasing “rights” for terrorists captured on the battlefield, etc.

It is clear who is better prepared to protect us from this very real threat. And I’m sick of people being so politically correct that they refuse to discuss it!

Soros-Funded Pair Running Obama Transition Team Oct 18, ’08 7:17 PM
    for Nana’s network
In case you didn’t realize it, they’re already in transition.
Barack Obama’s transition team recently held a large organizational meeting as part of an accelerated effort to plan for a possible new administration, Democratic officials said Friday, as the nominee embarked on a late-campaign tour of traditional Republican states with a fresh attack on John McCain.

Under the direction of John Podesta, a former White House chief of staff under Bill Clinton, the transition effort includes a dozen separate groups divided into different areas of responsibility, these officials said. One added that Cassandra Butts, a longtime associate of Obama, is in charge of the group dedicated to personnel for a new administration.

The effort is largely separate from the campaign structure that helped plan and execute Obama’s remarkable rise to the position of front-runner in a race in which he is bidding to become the first black president.
Podesta, of course, was in the Clinton administration and now runs the Center for American Progress, a leftwing group bought and paid for by America-hating scum George Soros.
The Center for American Progress was begun in 2003 by philanthropists Herb and Marion Sandler [1]. It is a Washington, DC-based liberal think tank created and led by John D. Podesta.

“Podesta laid out his plan for what he likes to call a think tank on steroids. Emulating those conservative institutions, he said, a message-oriented war room will send out a daily briefing to refute the positions and arguments of the right. An aggressive media department will book liberal thinkers on cable TV. There will be an edgy Web site (thinkprogress.org) and a policy shop to formulate strong positions on foreign and domestic issues. In addition, Podesta explained how he would recruit hundreds of fellows and scholars — some in residence and others spread around the country — to research and promote new progressive policy ideas. American Progress is slated to operate with a $10 million budget next year, raised from big donors like the financier George Soros.
You might also recall the names Herbert and Marion Sandler from a recent SNL sketch.
They assembled a vast array of subprime loan packages in their Golden West Financial and sold it to Wachovia Bank for $24 billion before the financial bottom fell out.
You might also find it noteworthy the Center for American Progress founded the slander outfit Media Matters, whose specialty is the politics of personal destruction.
On May 3, 2004, CAP helped to launch David Brock’s Media Matters for America – which claims to serve as a “watchdog” organization monitoring “rightwing” media for ethics and accuracy. According to The New York Times, Brock conferred with Hillary Clinton, Senator Tom Daschle, and former Vice President Al Gore about Media Matters before embarking on the project. “Mr. Brock’s project was developed with help from the newly formed Center for American Progress,” notes the Times, and John Podesta “introduced [Brock] to potential donors.”
As for Cassandra Butts, she’s also been long affiliated with this far left Soros outfit.

These are just the first two names listed with an Obama transition, a pair of Soros-funded hacks.

That ought to help heal the nation and help bring us all together.

Now much to my shock, I find out there’s another name in the news that finds itself working hand-in-glove with the Center for American Progress.

    Guess who that might be?
On May 13, ACORN National President Maude Hurd and Philadelphia ACORN member Olivia Dorsey will introduce former Sen. John Edwards in announcing his position as chairman of “Half in Ten,” a new campaign to cut poverty in the United States in half in 10 years. The campaign is a partnership of ACORN, the Center for American Progress Action Fund (CAPAF), the Coalition on Human Needs (CHN), and the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights (LCCR).
As an aside, if you need to know how deep Obama’s ACORN and radical left associations are, go back and review this American Thinker item from last month.
As I have written elsewhere, the Radical Left’s offensive to promote illegal immigration is “Cloward-Piven on steroids.” ACORN is at the forefront of this movement as well, and was a leading organization among a broad coalition of radical groups, including Soros’ Open Society Institute, the Service Employees International Union (ACORN founder Wade Rathke also runs a SEIU chapter), and others, that became the Coalition for Comprehensive Immigration Reform. CCIR fortunately failed to gain passage for the 2007 illegal immigrant amnesty bill, but its goals have not changed.
    Rememebr that name Wade Rathke.
In 1970, one of George Wiley’s protégés, Wade Rathke — like Bill Ayers, a member of the radical Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) — was sent to found the Arkansas Community Organizations for Reform Now. While NWRO had made a good start, it alone couldn’t accomplish the Cloward-Piven goals. Rathke’s group broadened the offensive to include a wide array of low income “rights.” Shortly thereafter they changed “Arkansas” to “Association of” and ACORN went nationwide.
    More on ACORN’s bad seed.

How much more intertwined these radical outfits will become isn’t even open to debate anymore. They’re all working in concert, a smooth running engine, with the vehicle named Obama.

    Update: LGF links. Thanks!

Also note this transition team has been in place for months, and mind you there’s nothing wrong with advance planning. My concern is with who’s running it, and considering it’s that hatchet man Podesta, be very wary of what’s in store.

I cant believe what the Obama supporters are saying about Joe the Plumber.
The most ludicrous is that the McCain people didnt vet Joe the Plumber enough.
Its not who Joe the Plumber is. It wouldnt even matter if Joe the Plumber is a plant, which I dont think he is. The whole thing behind Joe the Plumber is the answer that Obama gave.
I also cant believe that thanks to the Obama camp and main media we now know more about Joe the Plumber than we actually know about Obama. This has got to be so crazy, especially since it is Obama running not Joe.

But what is really neat is that the more the Obama campaign pick on Joe the Plumber the more the Obama polls go slip sliding down the hill.

The entire Obama campaign has been summed up by the treatment of this one guy, who dared to ask a hypothetical question. The question was muffed by Obama, remember. The mistake wasn’t Joe’s. It was Obama’s remark: Spreading the wealth is good.

    AND……..Joe is getting skewered.

What’s perfectly amazing to me, personally, is that Obama didn’t get where this was headed. He actually added to his mistake by jeering at Joe the Plumber.

  • mtc

I was impressed with Lou Dobbs pointing out the mass of reporters hounding Joe the Plumber but that not one has camped outside of Bill Ayers’ house to ask him some pointed questions about his relationship with Obama. Of course, Joe seems like a “typical” American who doesn’t have his picture taken standing on the American flag or who says that every time he hears the word “America” he feels like vomiting. Actually, now that I think of it, every time I see Bill Ayers I get a bit nauseated . . . (First post here — hello everyone!)

  • Clara Barton

I still haven’t heard why he lost his job and can’t work anymore. Obama should have to say those mocking and vile things to his face. On camera. What a lowlife.

  • lisa in va

I am so sick to my stomach. I honestly can’t believe this election.

  • chandler

My husband is an anesthesiologist. His income increases the more hours and more patient he sees–what will be the incentive now if our taxes increase from the already ludicrous 37% to closer to 50%? You are penalised for working harder!! Screw that, I will quit working, so there is one less experienced nurse and he will cut back. And people will die waiting for surgery. Who knows, at some point knowing how to treat illness and take care of the sick may be deemed more valuable than being a lawyer politician that can read a teleprompter.

  • http://americanpumainitaly.blogspot.com/ sarainitaly

how can he even be a plant??

Obama walked onto his neighborhood, and up to Joe’s house! Joe was playing football with his kid in the front yard, and walked over to ask a question.

    Obamabots are so friggin STUPID!

  • Cubs in 08

    Yes!

Obama has failed to protect…the privacy of a law abiding American at home…

How can we expect Obama to preserve, protect, and defend the entire Constitution when he can’t even protect parts of it (Amendments I and IV)? How does this strike you (or is my logic off?).

I’ve posted this on other threads, but I think it speaks to Obama’s elitist mentality. :-)

    Latina-
you mean THIS Colin Powell-as referenced in this war crimes report

    http://projects.publicintegrity.org/WarCard/

    False Pretenses
Following 9/11, President Bush and seven top officials of his administration (INCLUDING POWELL, C. RICE, P. WOLFOWITZ AND OTHERS) waged a carefully orchestrated campaign of misinformation about the threat posed by Saddam Hussein’s Iraq.

By Charles Lewis and Mark Reading-Smith
    January 23, 2008

    ******
This same Colin Powell is going to endorse this Sen Obama (see articles below) who stated that there is no way on earth the people who lied to Americans and led us into Iraq should be impeached?

    EXCERPT:
“Obama aggressively opposed initiating impeachment proceedings against the president (“Obama: Impeachment is not acceptable,” USA Today, June 28, 2007) and he wouldn’t even support Wisconsin Senator Russ Feingold’s effort to censure the Bush administration for illegally wiretapping American citizens in violation of the 1978 Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act. In Feingold’s words “I’m amazed at Democrats … cowering with this president’s number’s so low.” Once again, it’s troubling that Obama would take these positions and miss the opportunity to document the abuses of the Bush regime.

    http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2007/06/28/america/NA-POL-US-Obama-No-Impeachment.php

Gee… i wonder why Colin Powell might be considering endorsing Sen Obama…will Sen Obama also be getting Wolfowitz & Dr. C Rice endorsements too???

  • AnninCA

I’m not sure I don’t agree with that. The blockage has been deadly.

I’d almost rather see us embrace a bad plan than continue to embrace no plan.

I personally think McCain isn’t a weirdo Republican veto guy.

Just don’t work in an earmark! Boy, we all got THAT message. :)

  • Peggy Sue

I just heard a commentator say that the Obama’s Health Plan ideas for small business is referred to [by the Obama campaign] as the “pay to play” plan.

I don’t know whether this moniker is accurate, but if it is? Oh, the bitter irony. The absolute arrogance. Anyone who has read about the Illinois Combine aka the Board Games, will recognize the phrase–pay to play, Chicago style.

Again, I don’t know whether the commentator was correct. But if so? The phrasing would be the perfect soundbite. Incredible.

It’s a sad day when an American can’t ask an intelligent question of a politician without taking a flogging from the politician and MSM.

Will people be placed in prison for questioning Obama, if he is elected POTUS?

  • witness08

Isn’t this the modus operandi of the Obama campaign?
Whenever he gets into trouble they take the focus off the controversy by getting some big name to endorse him. Remember the Reverend Wright and then Gov.Richardson’s endorsement immediately following?
Joe the Plumber (“spread the wreath around”)could be the game changer and the Obama folk know it that’s why they’re frantically trying to discredit him. I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if Powell endorses him tomorrow.

  • WasLNbutNoBamaBotsKeepStealingMyName

No doubt about that! The Precious will tolerate NO ONE questioning his judgement. It will be off to jail for anyone who dares to doubt.

  • AnninCA

Well, the Kennedy’s always rebuffed the Clintons. They are very much a part of a highly dysfunctional political family from the East Coast. The Clintons frankly weren’t up to their “standards.”

I think Caroline is a very sweet lady, who probably hasn’t thought more than a few therapy sessions ever about why she thinks the way she thinks.

She’s a part of the most dysfunctional Kennedy arm…..which includes her beloved uncle who is now dying.

She would make Sarah Palin look like a scholar, in short.

They kept away ALL the supposed big names in the GE. Richardson is pretty much a drunk who is all about him. She’s a very nice lady who bakes cookie for her kids.

    It was all about “appearances.”

I guess I’m trying to say that all of his “endorsements” were very suspect.

Hillary had hundreds of solid military generals/admirals/etc.

He had such weak endorsements with nothing more than a name from the past.

But the press used them to promote his candidacy.

    Obama is the media candidate.

The American people, in my opinion, are up against their own media.

Just as a postscript, I did a quick search. I appears the phrase they’re using is “play or pay” for small business involvement.

Did anyone see the polls today. I think McCain is making some headway.

  • lark

obama, fisa, and the assault on the plumber.

No the assault on anyone in Europe, China, Iraq or any place around the world that has any information embarrassing about the Administration or any other public interest issue.

FISA, helps intercept the information at the source in a foreign country. The person is identified. He is set in a ‘no-fly list’ or in a ‘retricted flying list.’ This person is not allowed to travel to the U.S. to bring his information to the public interest that wants to know about it.

Domestically, any joe the plumber or fred the investigator will be placed under surveillance by FISA. Actually as we interact in this thread Joe the Plumber is being watched through FISA. His family also becomes target of a watch exercise. And if Joe the Plumber decides to apply for a position at a number of places, like law enforcement, then the Administration can see that if they don’t want him to have the job, he won’t.

BTW, Sarah…..I trust John McCain and Cindy. They know full well what Joe is facing.

Trust me. The guy didn’t know it, but he stepped into a goldmine.

He WILL have his plumber business, his licence, his back tax problem resolved.

One thing I’m sure about. McCain is honorable. He will make sure this guy gets his shot at the American dream, in an honest way.

And maybe his joke about contracts for taking care of 7 houses wasn’t really a joke!

In any event……John will not let that guy sink.

It was clear to me months ago when Colin was on Tavis Smiley that he supported Obama. He said something like he was basking in the joy of the first AA Prez. Remember they both have foreign roots, so I can understand the admiration. Not surprised at all.

I see lots of bloggers on many sites expressing how much they admire Powell, easily forgetting the disdain they had when he bold-face lied at the UN.

I’m sure this will give big media yet another excuse for all-out fawning over BO. I don’t know if America can bear it. Soooo disgusting.

  • Susan1968

    About Joe The Plumber ….

    I missed Hucakabee.

Exactly why did Joe say he can’t work now?

Update me and I’ll email it to all the news outlets.

    Thanks!

  • oowawa

The more attention and abuse they level at Joe the Plumber, the more powerful he will become. They do not understand that they are feeding a symbol and it is quickly acquiring demonic power. They, of all people, should understand that: The Precious was created as a symbol onto which the masses could project their hopes and religious feelings for a better tomorrow. Now Joe the Plumber is rising as a counter-symbol, the personification of the common man who wants only the chance to do things for himself and does not look for The Precious to save him. That they are criticizing McCain for not “vetting” Joe the Plumber is beyond laughable. How do you vet an archetype? And why should you? It was THEIR ropeline where Joe first appeared. It was THEY who first summoned Joe from the collective unconscious. Now they don’t know how to deal with him. And they can’t!!!

So shoulder your toilet plungers everyone, and let’s take to the streets in solidarity with Joe. Planting a plunger in your front lawn beside your McCain-Palin sign, or even by itself, would be a powerful first step. Solidarity with Joe!

  • Ani

Really. Isn’t that hilarious? Where is Al Gore? I have heard nothing about him.

It’s like he fell off the face of the earth…

He did his one b.s. appearance for Obama, who he obviously does not like — and that was it.

Another gen-u-ine endorsement. Andhow much did that endorsement help — about as much as Edwards’. Not so much.

Which one of the people are going to develop a spine?

    Never mind. Don’t answer that.

  • AnninCA

sarah….I think they are just very young.

The media has been hit badly with the economy even before this crash.

That means……you’re left with people who are very young, don’t have any time to really research, pull off the AP wire, and cook up a hot headline.

Journalism isn’t really what people here want it to be. It’s a business. And business is affected by the economy.

When we hit the skids, economically, so does our journalism.

Quality journalism is a function of a very healthy economy.

Yellow journlism is the first indication of a recession.

    That’s just the truth.

McCain should say that even Bush’s people support Obama. But BO keeps saying McCain as POTUS will be more of the same.

They are not just trying to “skewer” Joe, they are trying to “crucify” him–and that REALLY isn’t smart. They’re really pissed because he is upstaging the Precious One as Messiah. Not smart to try to crucify Joe the Plumber. Really dumb. This will turn out badly for them.

  • Brendy

So Powell is disgusted at the ‘tone’ of the McCain’s campaign and he’s going to vote for Obama (so Powell LOVES Obama’s ‘tone’ and his constantly put-downs of Palin and now Joe the Plumber?).

Forget about the qualifications of the candidates – Powell, apparently, is only worried about the ‘bad tone’ the McCain is ‘supposedly’ running. Yeah, right. Surely most of you can see WHY Powell WILL BE ENDORSING OBAMA (and yes, I think he WILL endorse Obama).

I can’t sleep at night, my stomach is in knots all the time. This man is very likely to be the next POTUS and he will destroy it. It just makes me very sad and very disgusted that my fellow voters would fall for someone so dangerous.

  • Yo

My brother-in-law has been a plumber for more than 30 years and it wasn’t until he opened up his own business that he began making more than $250,000 a year. He does really good work, his reputation got around and he was hired to put plumbing into subdivisions of new homes. He has a couple of guys working for him full time and he is still bringing home $400,000+ a year. So a plumber can be really successful and doesn’t have to go to Harvard like Obama.

  • Brendy

Lindsy – not only someone so ‘dangerous’ but just down right CRUEL. Someone (a ‘president’) who makes FUN and RIDICULES an American citizen on television and his stupid followers howl with delight when he arrogantly said “How many plumbers do YOU know who make $250,000?” THIS person, THIS creep – wants to be president? The last couple of days have made me truly sick and worried. Everything that I was taught in elementary-college was a lie. I believed it could never happen here. We have checks and balances to protect free speech and the democratic process, right? I see now that it CAN happen here. These people think it is a game. I’m seeing things happen today, that I read happened 70 years ago. I feel helpless, like there is nothing I can do. The only reassurance I’ve got is the board and a few others. Yes, I have my bumper stickers up, I have my yardsign up, I’ll be making calls for the next few weeks and I’ll be voting. But I still have this sadness in my heart. However this election turns out (and for the record, I think McCain will win), I think we are forever changed.

And this is important. If we don’t take steps to rememdy this situation after election day, this will not be the last time this happens. This will become the rule rather than the exception. Every election cycle we will flirt with this danger. One day we will lose.

    I blame the media entirely.

They do not understand that they are feeding a symbol and it is quickly acquiring demonic power

Yes I think the message is loud and clear that regular citizens won’t be able ask questions of their Dear Leader without fear of being publicly destroyed and embarrassed. As always, Obama screwed up, but it became someone else’s fault. Regarding FISA, I am somewhat torn because I definitely want Homeland Security to be able to listen in on terrorists. However, I don’t trust this type of power in the hands of Obama. Does anyone think he wouldn’t use this for his own personal gain and the destruction of his own personal enemies. This is SCARY STUFF.

  • Hank

BO enjoys talking down to people how many times have we already seen this behavior demonstrated. What I don’t understand is how people believe in him.

  • Jules

  • http://americanpumainitaly.blogspot.com/ sarainitaly

and considering Obama thinks everyone who had anything to do with going to Iraq are lacking judgment and not eligible for office, and basically, suck, he wants Powell’s endorsement?

  • Lindsy

What’s really scary is that Obama supporters laugh along with him. They will be accepting of a President who ridicules another citizen.

It’s pathetic and if we are stupid enough as a country to elect this man, then I guess we will all have to pay a very high price.

They had the resources to dig threw facebook and dig up dirt on Cindy McCain. They have the resources to fly reporters to Alaska to dig up shit on Palin’s kids.

I think there are better things they could have done with their time.

Hello everyone! I’m a newbie here. My name is Gina and I love No Quarter USA. I’ve been reading it for a while now. You are the best! Everybody rocks on here. I’m am from NYC (and have voted for both parties). I adore Hillary. To me,Hillary and Bill are old school Dems (and I mean that as a huge compliment). She is brilliant, beautiful and accomplished. And such a warm ,caring person. I wanted Hillary to win. And yes,I feel great sadness she was cheated. I am now supporting McCain/Palin.

I also wanted to post something interesting. With all the attacks on Joe the Plumber,I found this goody on Martin Nesbitt (Obama’s campaign treasurer). Nesbitt himself owes back taxes. Do you think the msm media will pick this up. Me thinks not.

“Obama Campaign Treasurer Has Tax Liens
    http://sayanythingblog.com/ entry/ obama_campaign_treasurer_has_tax_liens/

But don’t expect them to be reported by the media. Oh — I almost forgot to mention: Martin Nesbitt, the treasurer of Obama’s campaign, has tax liens. So do his companies. You’d think that matters more than the tax liens of Joe the Plumber, wouldn’t you? But good luck finding a Big Media story about Nesbitt’s liens. Just for the record, Martin Nesbitt is a prominent member of the Obama campaign and has been for over a year now. His tax liens haven’t yet hit the mainstream media. Joe the Plumber asked Obama a fair (if inconvenient for Obama) question at an event and his tax liens were making national headlines the next day. ”

It’s been apparent to me that 0bama has some kind of personality disorder.

Why has no one ever found out the reason why his mother sent him back to Hawaii as a child? He’s adopted by Soetoro. His sister is born and then 0bama gets shipped away.

0bama has no friends and doesn’t seem to be close to his sister. On the last night of the Convention on stage, he never even made eye contact with her, much less physically embrace her.

The Clintons had friends. The MacDougals. The wife who went to jail because she wouldn’t give false testimony. Clinton was also good friends with Vernon Jordan. And Bill was very close to his half-brother in a paternalistic older brother way.

This man has nobody. At least no one he’s willing to publicly acknowledge. Personally, I think if he loses he will have a nervous breakdown. Get out the straitjacket and thorazine.

I’ve never ever seen a candidate openly mock and ridicule a voter before in my life. And 0bama does this consistently. That is not a good sign.

And people want to elect this pow, this pos POTUS?

    Really?

Surely this is a joke. People wouldn’t knowingly cut their own throats like this. This is tantamount to accepting a dinner invitation from Hannibal Lechter.

You don’t give someone like this power.

Surely, people will come to their senses By Election Day and use the power of their one vote to make sure that doesn’t happen. Surely, people can read the signs without the help of the corrupt msm spelling everything out.

America is still a Democracy. And we do have the power!

I have to wonder if I put a McCain sign on my lawn or bumper sticker on my car, if in the New Year I’ll discover that part of the Obama campaign volunteers’ job duties were to jot down addresses and license plates of McCain supporters. Did we ever find out what they were teaching at the Obama Camps for volunteers?

Having spent most of my life within a hundred or so miles of Mr. Wurzelbacher – I’ve met hundreds of men and women just like him in the rusty auto manufacturing region of Ohio and Michigan. I stand next to them in the grocery store sniffing the cantaloupes, sit next to them at rock concerts, they’re at the next table at Applebee’s on Friday evenings and in line next to me at Best Buy a week before Christmas.

They work hard, never quite getting ahead but they do their best to pay for the necessities and put a little bit of luxury on the credit cards. It works well until an unexpected event happens – a divorce, a health crisis, a lay off, etc… and then the bills pile up. They work hard to pay those bills, never asking for a hand out. A few bills get pushed aside each month while they juggle payments. But they keep plodding along working for the day they can once again be in the black at the end of each month. One day, they hear about a business that is up for sale and they daydream about how nice it would be own that business, to have a chance of being in the black at the end of each month and maybe, just maybe have a few extra dollars left to put away for their kids’ college and their retirement. It becomes more than just a daydream and they look into financing the purchase of the business.

Along comes a presidential campaign. One candidate wants to raise taxes and our daydreamer turned serious purchaser begins to worry if he buys the business it’ll be another act of futility on his part – will he still be juggling bills at the end of the month. This candidate shows up on a sunny afternoon in our daydreamer’s neighborhood and he asks the candidate about his tax plan.

It’s 2008, not 1978 anymore and Mr. Wurzelbacher ends up on cable news from Detroit to London to Seattle to Sydney. Within hours Mr. Wurzelbacher knows what it’s like to be Britney Spears with the media camped in his neighborhood, their satellite trucks humming away – reporting on whether he’s five minutes late at watering his roses and where the kid delivering the newspapers has thrown his paper today. When that gets a little boring, they start running credit and background checks on Mr. Wurzelbacher and discover he’s typical of Ohio and Michigan. A man who works hard, who has had the typical financial setbacks of the region but keeps hope alive that the day will come where he’s in the black at the end of the month and he can afford to send his child to Ohio State.

Who would have thought that the people I encounter in the grocery store and Best Buy, sit next to for concerts on the lawn at DTE Energy/Pine Knob and are sharing the same server at Applebees with me are a toxic poison in the United States of America and not the back bone as I’ve always been led to believe.

I don’t think I like the vision of America that Senator Obama and the legions of media have in store for us.
