National Anthem Canceled at Obama Event

The Obama campaign canceled the National Anthem at Thursday’s event in Londonderry, NH. Canceled it for time to have more speakers.

Returning to Mack’s Apples, Barack Obama spoke to an audience of thousands in my small home town of Londonderry, NH. Mack’s is the center of our town and a wonderful spot for a fall event in New Hampshire. Orchard owner, Andy Mack Sr. is an active Obama supporter who graciously allows any candidate to use his land for outdoor events.

read about the cancellation after the fold

Wednesday the campaign contacted Londonderry High asking for a student to sing the Anthem. Zach Bengal was chosen for his experience and spent the night preparing for Thursday.

The rest of the story is from WMUR TV Manchester, NH. Visit the site for an interview video that we cannot embed.

A Londonderry high school student was supposed to sing the national anthem at Barack Obama’s rally Thursday. Just hours before he was to hit the stage, the Obama campaign told him he was no longer needed! 17-year old Zach Bengal says he was bumped because the campaign had to make time for more speeches. He says the campaign worker who broke the news was apologetic and said they’d keep him in mind for the future.

They did not have time for a one minute song?

Am I the only proud American who thinks there is always time for this one minute show of national unity and national pride? nh

    In a side note:

If Sen. John McCain wins the presidency in a little more than three weeks, his daughter said she’ll tattoo “Live Free or Die” somewhere on her body.

Of course, he would have to win in New Hampshire, too, said Meghan McCain, who was in Nashua yesterday thanking volunteers at the McCain-Palin campaign office.

    Oh, say can you see,
    By the dawn’s early light,
    What so proudly we hailed
    At the twilight’s last gleaming,
Whose broad stripes and bright stars,
    Through the perilous fight,
    O’er the ramparts we watched
    Were so gallantly streaming?
    And the rockets’ red glare,
    The bombs bursting in air,
    Gave proof through the night
That our flag was still there.
    O, say, does that
    Star-Spangled Banner yet wave
O’er the land of the free
And the home of the brave?

Farrakhan Says ‘New Beginning’ For Nation of Islam
CHICAGO (AP) ― The Nation of Islam, a secretive movement generally closed to outsiders, has planned a rare open-to-the public event at its Chicago-based headquarters in what the Minister Louis Farrakhan deemed a “new beginning” for the group.

Hundreds of religious leaders of different faiths have been invited to the event planned for Sunday, a rededication of the group’s historic Mosque Maryam on the city’s South Side. Farrakhan is scheduled to speak.

“We have restored Mosque Maryam completely, and we will dedicate it to the universal message of Islam, and the universal aspect of the teachings of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad,” Farrakhan said in an invitation letter. “It represents for the Nation of Islam, a new beginning.”

    First off.

How sad for Zach and his family and friends. Could you imagine the pride of being asked to sing the National Anthem for a Presidential candidate?

Secondly, that isn’t a gig you expect to be cancelled so you have to be prepared to sing such a difficult song.

Thirdly, especially with the candidate that has had issues respecting the song. Who would expect time constraints to be the excuse?

This is ridiculous. I have never seen a candidate so openly disrespectful to so many people, traditions, occupations, the military, women, the eldery, etc.

This is mind blowing. It signals that every concern people have with Obama are continually supported by HIS actions. Obama should be smart enough to not let this happen. His people should be smart enough to not let this happen again.

I hope Republicans give Zach another platform to perform. Even if he is an Obama supporter.

Even give him some space on McCain’s website so his family and friends can feel the pride of seeing Zach shine during a Presidential election.

Lastly, I get goosebumps every single time when hearing the song at sporting events, etc. It honors our country and it’s history, it honors our citizens, it honors our military, it honors our Olympic athletes, it honors those who want a new start in America.

For Obama to disrepect it again….there simply is no excuse.

I was privledged to attend the Palin rally in Richmond, Va on Monday. When the color guard from a local high school presented the flag you could have heard a pin drop in a crowd of over 20,00. If your employer has to pay significantly higher taxes, which he will have to under barack obama’s plan, your employer may not be able to expand his business or give you a raise, in fact your employer may have to cut back.

That could mean in these already tough economic times you could end up out of a job as your employer downsizes or decides to move overseas and conduct business where the tax rates on business are significantly cheaper.

I am always thrilled to hear and be able to sing the National Anthem at public events. It is something that brings us all together as Americans for a moment, no matter what other differences we may have.

Beyond that, this is a particular time of struggle for our country and that anthem is a great comfort, a thing of power and optimism and it should never be ignored, discounted or dismissed.

I am truly shocked that he or his staff would be insensitive enough to do this. Never mind what his true feelings are about the anthem, but politically, it is also a monumentally stupid thing to do.

I am sure he is so spoiled to the DNC covering his a$$ on everything and the media being completely in the tank for him, he assumes everything will be excused.

Well, people talk — and there is the internet — and even if the MSM is having a blackout on any negative stories about him — these actions have a way of going viral very quickly.

These are the kinds of actions that stick in people’s minds at the voting booth. A bad feeling. A gut sense that something is not right.

the above scenario depends on whether the hypothetical employer is having his income taxed or his business taxed. Businesses have a wide variety of deductions they can use when making purchases of needed equipment or new hires to reduce there taxes paid. If the employer has half a brain cell left he’ll use the pretax dollars his business generates to make any needed investments in expansion and that’s if expansion is even warranted. There aren’t all that many growth industries left to expand in which means where talking about established markets and then for one employer to expand his business he has to take market share away from a competitor The real danger to anyones job is if we are talking about increased taxes on post tax income and the employers greed appeals to his darker angels. Then the potential exists for him to cut back on his labor expense so that he can pay himself more to make up for the additional income paid out in taxes. In that case he the one who is screwing his employees. He and he alone.

Taking from the rich screws you twice.

Good rich people wont be able to recirculate the wealth by growing the economy and creating jobs which hurts you.

Bad rich people will simply increase prices to compensate and screw you to offset what ever their tax increase is which also hurts you.

    Its really not very complicated.

Every time in american history when taxes have been lowered the economy has thrived and more actual tax revinuew dollars are generated.

Even under the clinton administration when the Capital gains tax rate was lowered more actual dollars came in because it promoted do business make money instead of stiffling it.

Say you have 500 dollars to spend that you saved all summer.

And you want to get something nice for yourself.

You want this really nice pair of um…earings…haha..seriously a new set of skis because your old set is worn out.

The skis cost 350 and that leaves 150 for you to use for 3 weekend day trips to the slopes. Lift tickets (25.00) and maybe gas and munchies (another 25.00) in the winter.

Now the government comes along and increases taxes on business.

The Ski maker increses his prices to compensate and the skis are now 450.00

Now you can only afford one trip to the ski resort…but wait everyone else feels the pinch and also cant go as often.

Now the Ski resort which probably makes more than 250K a year is not only hit with higher taxes but also lower sales so they also increase costs…30.00 for a ticket maybe more…

Looks like there is no point in buying those skis now since you may not even have a budget to go skiing left over.

So now you end up either overpaying and being punished or you don’t spend the money hitting both business on the other end in lower sales and revinue.

So higher taxes in tough economic times ends up leading to recession then depression as things just help push other things down.

But don’t worry because Barack is going to pump money that doesnt exist that he will have to print (which makes the value of a dollar decline and inflation go up since a dollar isnt worth as much as it used to be) to revitalize the great society with roads and bridge construction.

So instead of enjoying that ski trip or 3 you will be able to go build bridges and lay gravel to make roads.

Now if you don’t see yourself being one of the masses who will be gainfully emplyed by this great social program of building bridges and laying roads…you might want to reconsider voting for a guy who wants to tax the so called rich and spread the wealth.

  • Jason

Ah, yes, its so simple, isn’t it? Just close your eyes and repeat the national anthem and pretend there are no problems in the world. Look at the flag! Let it distract you. Don’t think beyond symbols!

I love the national anthem. We all love the national anthem. The national anthem doesn’t have the ability to solve a world wide financial crisis. In fact, it can’t do anything at all other than placate those that would run towards the past and ignore reality.

Here’s a very simple question to ask yourself:

How many times have you ever been hired for a job by a poor person?

The fact is that “soaking the rich” sounds good in an election campaign, but if taxes get too high, the rich will simply take their money offshore and tax revenues will actually deline. A very little known fact about George Bush’s presidency is that overall federal tax revenues actually increased significantly when marginal tax rates were lowered.

Most start-up businesses are funded by wealthy individual investors. I am personally involved in the development of a company here in San Diego with a unique waste-to-energy technology that can actually cleanly dispose of garbage and generate electricity in the process. The entire $14 million that has gone into the development of this company has come from people with net worths of over $1 million.

Also, what Barack Obama isn’t telling you is that he plans to drastically raise taxes on businesses and on investment income. This will make US corporate tax rates among the highest in the world. What do you think that will do to job creation here in the US? Jobs will leave this country in droves, moving to where corporate tax rates are lower.

If you vote to elect Barack Obama, you are voting to kill the proverbial “goose that laid the golden egg.” There is simply no way that ambitious new entitlement programs like universal health care can be paid for only by modest income tax increases on those making over $250,000.

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bijtBkKQwY8 Jeremiah God Damn Barack Amerikkka Wright

    erm no.

You are assuming that the business will be able to avoid the tax increse or offset it by used deductions or investment.

In an econmy that is stagnant and not enough dollars are coming in to the employer to justify expansion increased taxes just screws him.

You are also refering to a static market with no growth potential which is also not accurate.

More importantly she wanted a simple explanation.

All you did was convolute and complicate it to the point that even i dont want to unthread that jumble of an explanation that is heavily dependant on the one hand praising an employer trying to get out of paying taxes using loopoles and deductions, and on the other daming him if he doesnt and ends up downsizing of cutting staff as being greedy. It makes no snse that you would argue both ends against the middle.

Are you or have you at any time been a democrat?

    (wink)

To be fair, Clinton said he would lower taxes on the middle class and then when he got into office he raised taxes on the middle class. So while you think you will be getting a tax cut, the fact is, you probably won’t.

However, the difference this time is that economy isn’t as healthy as when Clinton raised taxes with the goal of getting the deficit under control.

Obama has no plans to reduce the deficit. He wants to continue on the same drunken sailor spending that Bush is on now. When he says he will use the money saved from shutting down the Iraq war to pay for his programs. That is still money we are borrowing from China. So he really isn’t changing that 10 billion a month expense. He is just changing who will be profitting. So, instead of Bush cronies getting rich. It will Obama’s cronies.

All you have to do is look at the Chicago housing projects that we supposed to be fixed up to see that the money for these projects never make it to those who need it.

While all that stuff sound nice. Remember Chicago has the highest local tax in the country. The highest gas taxes in the country. Obama even got tens of millions of dollars to improve schools and they rejected math and science grant requests.

Obama’s background proves he doesn’t want to improve the lives of his fellow citizens.

And as stated earlier, the tax cut that Obama promises is just an illusion when you look at the tax rate in Chicago.

Name one thing in Chicago that you want copied on a national level.

CA exports creative legislation to other states all the time. Have you ever heard of anything Chicago has done politically that is inspirational?

    Anything?

Think about that before you vote for the Chicago Machine candidate.

Taxes were lowered at the beginning of the Bush administration when were looking at our first budget surplus in my adult life. That money could have been used to pay off part if our national debt. Instead it went to fuel a good five years of runaway real estate speculation who’s ultimate downturn resulted in one of the largest bailouts of the private sector by the people of the United States of America since the great depression. Which by the way was another economic catastrophe set off by wild speculation in the market coupled with highly leveraged holdings.

those who work hard to earn the money shouldn’t be punished by the government by taking their hard earned money and give it to those who don’t deserve it.

to do otherwise is socialism, and punishes hard work and provide incentive to underperform. why would you work hard if you’d be punished for earning as much as you can while those who chose to simply not work as hard will now get a chunk of what you’ve earned?

success should not be punished, and those who want the same kind of success should work for it and not just wait for the hand out.

The American dream is about achieving success through hard work and not about being punished by forcing you to give away your wealth involuntarily.

Obama and Biden preaches wealth redistribution as long as it doesn’t come form their pockets. There is nothing that’s keeping anyone from giving more, but both Obama and Biden only want to give away other people’s money instead of their own as their tax returns have shown.

I got really emotional because I know that in an Obama presidency, the National Anthem will no longer be allowed, I can’t believe that this is what will happen to my beloved country, I LOVE America, I will FIGHT for this country, I am NOT gonna allow a communist to take my country from me

Right on. And the National Anthem is an ongoing tribute to our brave men and women in the Armed Forces, past and present. It was written by someone watching a tattered flag flying during a fierce battle in the War of 1812 for crying out loud! It stands for so much including a rememberance of the hundreds of thousands of soldiers who have lost their lives over fighting for and protecting this Nation.

  • WildChild

I’ve provided two scenarios of taxation: one on business on one on personal income. I’ve made no assumptions. The taxes on business are lucrative. Work them right and not only can you pay no tax but you can actually work a refund from the government essentially getting paid by the people of the United states just for running a business. This works for both large businesses like Enron and smaller concerns like some of the local farms in the Seattle area. But then let’s be honest with ourselves. this discussion has never been about business taxes. The only time business deductions were removed in any wholesale fashion was when Ronald Reagan was first elected. But then it was one of his campaign promises to cut taxes but at the same time close the loop holes that got people out of paying them.

Rather this whole debate revolves around personal income tax: The tax on the money a business owner pays himself after the business gets what it needs. That money isn’t going to go into the business because if it was he wouldn’t have paid it out to himself. So now is probably a good time to end the charade that higher personal income taxes in the upper brackets are going to hurt small business.

    A Conspiracy Theory

The way I see it is that the only way Obama can get elected if he commits fraud just like he did during the primaries. This will have to be on much larger scale. So if the election is close he could take it by committing fraud.

If that happens there will be no troops. He will destroy the economy and plunge the country into a depression at the same time blame the republicans and GW for everything. People will eat up everything his administration says because when unemployment hits 25% people will want someone to give them something even if it is just speeches about how things will be getting better soon.. It will be the same as it was during 9/11 except this will be an economical attack on the public instead of a physical one.

At this point they will implement all their socialist agendas and rip this country apart. Under such strain our military will become second rate because there will be no money to maintain it. Most businesses will leave the country to places where the taxes won’t put them out of business.

Tariffs will make sure that everybody has to pay more for everything and will probably cause the dismantlement of the world trade organization.

The unintended consequences of this will be a break down in trade and world order. What nobody realizes is the reason Europe can get away with all its social programs is because they have us police the world for them. They hardly spend anything on their military. This also goes for Japan. Once we are no longer around keeping order in the world trade will break down as it will become unsafe to ship things around the world. This has already started on the east coast of Africa.

Obama’s policy to side with the Arabs in the Middle East instead of Israel will destabilize that region. The enemies of Israel will be emboldened by this move and will attack the Jewish state. The other thing that nobody seems to understand is that Israel is a nuclear power and will nuke the entire middle east if it feels that its existence is at stake. Now I don’t now about you but oil from a region where a nuke has been dropped is not something I would buy. This will eliminate the half of the world oil supply. The consequences of something like that are unimaginable.

There is the possibility of many outcomes but from Obama’s history we can expect a radical move away from capitalism and toward something that this country has never experienced. After all he is nothing but a poster boy for the people who want to implement social changes and a grand scale. The economical disaster that we are in will be used to accomplish all this. Just like GW used 9/11 to accomplish what his handlers told him to do.

I hope the people will wake up and reject this takeover by the radical left. I don’t think we want to find out what will really happen.

  • Cubs in 08

Kathy, what do you consider socialism? Government regulation of markets? We’ve had that for 100 years. As a result of a failure to regulate, we’ve had the worst financial disaster of in 80 years. We need regulations to be enforced. You can angrily lash out and call it socialism or communism, but that doesn’t change the fact that markets need to be regulated. If they weren’t, we’d have no financial system left. You know who wasn’t regulated? Bear Sterns, Lehman, Merrill, etc. Those entities that all failed. Stop pretending we have some kind of true free market economy. We haven’t since about 1910.

god i hate arguing with internet people about stuff like this because its completely off topic but i will take one last wack at it for you.

The run away realestate speculation as you call it was actually artificial inflation of property value by the entry of the unwashed masses into the realestate market in force as a result of lowering of subprime lending standards.

These lowering of lending standards were then abused by both unqualified homebuyers and over leveraged speculators.

The speculators went into the realestate market as a safe haven after the Dot Com bubble burst in 1997

Greenspan warned about this in the late 1990s during the tail end of the Clinton Administration before Bush took office.

In the beginning of Bush’s first term the Twin towers were brought down causing weeks of financial panic and a heavy push to reinvest dollars in our economy to get things moving again.

A number of federal agencies sprung up out of neccessity after 9/11 with too little oversight bloating the federal budget further.

The “Speculation” crisis as you call it was seeded in the carter adminitration with the CRA, watered and brought to bloom during the Clinton Administration and allowed to run rampant despite repeated calls from the Bush administration during the past 8 years thanks for the Democrats first running interference as the minority party and then running rampant as the majority party.

The One factor you and everyone else is not mentioning is preditory unsecured lending.

This is the little monster that undermined most americans. Unsecured debt grew rampant in the past 15 years and that sucked a hell of a lot more reinvestible cash out of the economy than enyone is talking about and that was the fault of the american people themselves.

Ok this is going way off topic.

    Truce.

  • tommyo77

    Uninformed fiscal hogwash.

The deficit was not caused by the tax cuts. Federal receipts grew by 40% in the 3 years following the tax cut. Even if you think the money lost from the tax cut is dollar for dollar the total cost of the “rich people” tax cut was 70 billion a year (12% of the income tax paid by upper wage earners), the deficit is 400 billion a year. The problem is in spending: 60% increase in Education ($45 billion). 60% increase in Welfare ($100 billion), 90% increase in Medical ($350 billion) and 100% increase in defense ($300 billion).

  • Peggy Sue

I have no intention of apologizing for being an American or pretending I’m a “citizen of the world.”

True, the national anthem and Pledge of Alligience cannot solve our financial woes. But they remind us of our past, flesh and blood people who have sacrificed for an ideal, who were unwilling to give up or give in, people who put it all on the line for the abstract: honor, respect, freedom. Intangibles, for sure But your ancestors and mine spilled their blood for it. For us.

If we cannot spare a moment, a single minute to honor that sacrifice then we lose something precious: our sense of what it is to be an American.

So you Jason can sneer all you want. But even Joe Biden said the “past is prologue.” If you forget the past, there is no future.

And no single man is greater than that.

    In Flanders Fields
Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918)

IN FLANDERS FIELDS the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
    In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
    In Flanders fields.

You are an idiot. When the whole world was going to hell during the depression and throughout most of WWII when the US was LOSING – yes – not what John Wayne movies tell you — The US was losing on both fronts of WWII — our citizens sang patriotic songs and stuck to ration stamps and growing victory gardens and looking to HOPE. Not the kind of false BS hope your messiah offers but real belief in the ability of everyone to pull together and WIN and we did it.

Hollywood instead of putting out anti-war movies took time to push our patriotism, to push the sales of War Bonds to fund our fight for democracy and freedom. Norman Rockwell painted cover after cover that reinforced our love of country. Not like now with all the wimpy folk who run away from spreading the greatness of our democracy to others.

I have 8 documented patriots who died during the Revolutionary War to bring about this great nation. I have ancestors who fought for the South and Quakers who kept the abolitionist hopes alive. My father spent the first 3 years of his marriage away from his bride while floating around in Manila Bay trying to get messages from one part of our forces to another.

I pray to God that they all did not die in vain so that crazy Obots like you can turn the world into a socialist/marxist state where it is appropriate to rage on a regular Joe just because he voices his own opinion.

As a Jew who has family in Israel I can tell you for a fact that if Iran attacks Israel Israel will destroy Iran in 5 seconds, we have the atomic bomb and are not afraid to use it. But yes, I know that Israel is very very scared of an Obama presidency, Bush already ordered 57 planes to be sent over there and congress approved it, but they are afraid that if Obama wins, he might veto it and they won’t get them. Israel is already preparing for the fact that they will no longer be an American ally, Israel doesn’t need any American help as far as troops are concerned, but they do get goods from America and also money which will probably be stopped.

What does he offer the middle class?

Perhaps you missed it, but all the world today saw exactly what Obama offers those of the middle class when he sneered at Joe the Plumber and nonchalantly turned his head and disregarded the attempts of his supporters to completely destroy this man’s life.

All because Obama willingly answered this man’s question and in doing so, admitted he was a Marxist.

How sad for you that you’ve been so swept away by empty words of a man who has neither earned an ounce of respect, nor has kept any promise he’s ever made to his supporters. Not to the children he promised to help in Chicago to better their education. Not to the middle class he promised to lower their taxes (and instead raised them). Not to the promises he made during the primary.

The utter reality of the matter is that Obama makes George Bush look like Mother Theresa. But you’re blinded – so blinded that he continuously mocks his supporters to their faces and you can’t even see it. I honestly pity you for the deception he’s played upon you.

Singing songs did not win the war. Nor did growing victory gardens. We won because we had more money and more people and an industrial base that could build more weapons, mobilize more troops and employ better tactics and weapons the other side didn’t have (like radar and the a-bomb). You think I’m living in a hollywood myth? You, my friend, need to take a good hard look in the mirror. Patriotic songs don’t win wars, better training, tactics and weapons do.

Its appropriate to “rage on a regular Joe” if that regular Joe is an idiot.

Just because one is a “regular Joe” does not mean one is free from scrutiny. The regular Joe you are referring to doesn’t believe he has an obligation to pay taxes. Do you? Do you think our country will continue to function without paying taxes? Who will fund that military you hold in such high esteem? How will our troops have weapons to fight without tax payer dollars? Open your eyes.

  • not lurking anymore

Stolen from a druge link, this is the man who needs to be our next president, not some moron who disses the country’s anthem.

It’s great to be here in Miami. Florida is a must-win state on November 4th, and with your help, we’re going to win Florida, and bring change to Washington, DC. We had a good debate this week. You may have noticed– there was a lot of talk about Senator Obama’s tax increases and Joe the Plumber. Last weekend, Senator Obama showed up in Joe’s driveway to ask for his vote, and Joe asked Senator Obama a tough question. I’m glad he did; I think Senator Obama could use a few more tough questions.

The response from Senator Obama and his campaign yesterday was to attack Joe. People are digging through his personal life and he has TV crews camped out in front of his house. He didn’t ask for Senator Obama to come to his house. He wasn’t recruited or prompted by our campaign. He just asked a question. And Americans ought to be able to ask Senator Obama tough questions without being smeared and targeted with political attacks.

The question Joe asked about our economy is important, because Senator Obama’s plan would raise taxes on small businesses that employ 16 million Americans. Senator Obama’s plan will kill those jobs at just the time when we need to be creating more jobs. My plan will create jobs, and that’s what America needs.

Senator Obama says that he wanted to spread your wealth around. When politicians talk about taking your money and spreading it around, you’d better hold onto your wallet. Senator Obama claims that wants to give a tax break to the middle class, but not only did he vote for higher taxes on the middle class in the Senate, his plan gives away your tax dollars to those who don’t pay taxes.

That’s not a tax cut, that’s welfare. America didn’t become the greatest nation on earth by redistributing wealth; we became the greatest nation by creating new wealth.

This is the choice that we face. These are hard times. Our economy is in crisis. Americans are fighting in two wars. We face many enemies in this dangerous world, and many challenges here at home.

The next President won’t have time to get used to the office. He won’t have the luxury of studying up on the issues before he acts. He will have to act immediately. And to do that, he will need experience, courage, judgment and a bold plan of action to take this country in a new direction. We cannot spend the next four years as we have spent much of the last eight: waiting for our luck to change. We have to act immediately. I said it at the last debate: I’m not George Bush; if Senator Obama wants to run against George Bush, he should have run for President 4 years ago. We need a new direction now. We have to fight for it. I’ve been fighting for this country since I was seventeen years old, and I have the scars to prove it. If I’m elected President, I will fight to take America in a new direction from my first day in office until my last. I’m not afraid of the fight, I’m ready for it.

I’m not going to spend $700 billion dollars of your money just bailing out the Wall Street bankers and brokers who got us into this mess. I’m going to make sure we take care of the people who were devastated by the excesses of Wall Street and Washington. I’m going to spend a lot of that money to bring relief to you, and I’m not going to wait sixty days to start doing it.

I have a plan to protect the value of your home and get it rising again by buying up bad mortgages and refinancing them so if your neighbor defaults he doesn’t bring down the value of your house with him.

I have a plan to let retirees and people nearing retirement keep their money in their retirement accounts longer so they can rebuild their savings. I will protect Social Security so that retirees get the benefits they have earned, and I will bring both parties together to fix Social Security so that it is there for future generations.

I have a plan to hold the line on taxes and cut them to make America more competitive and create jobs here at home.

Raising taxes makes a bad economy much worse. Keeping taxes low creates jobs, keeps money in your hands and strengthens our economy.

The explosion of government spending over the last eight years has put us deeper in debt to foreign countries that don’t have our best interests at heart. It weakened the dollar and made everything you buy more expensive.

If I’m elected President, I won’t spend nearly a trillion dollars more of your money, on top of the $700 billion we just gave the Treasury Secretary, as Senator Obama proposes. Because he can’t do that without raising your taxes or digging us further into debt. I’m going to make government live on a budget just like you do.

I will freeze government spending on all but the most important programs like defense, veterans care, Social Security and health care until we scrub every single government program and get rid of the ones that aren’t working for the American people. And I will veto every single pork barrel bill Congresses passes.

If I’m elected President, I won’t fine small businesses and families with children, as Senator Obama proposes, to force them into a new huge government run health care program, while he keeps the cost of the fine a secret until he hits you with it. I will bring down the skyrocketing cost of health care with competition and choice to lower your premiums, and make it more available to more Americans. I’ll make sure you can keep the same health plan if you change jobs or leave a job to stay home.

I will provide every single American family with a $5000 refundable tax credit to help them purchase insurance. Workers who already have health care insurance from their employers will keep it and have more money to cover costs. Workers who don’t have health insurance can use it to find a policy anywhere in this country to meet their basic needs.

If I’m elected President, I won’t raise taxes on small businesses, as Senator Obama proposes, and force them to cut jobs. I will keep small business taxes where they are, help them keep their costs low, and let them spend their earnings to create more jobs.

If I’m elected President, I won’t meet unconditionally with the Castro brothers, while they keep political prisoners in jail, stifle free media and block free elections in Cuba. When I am President, we are going to pressure the Cuban government to free their people. The day is coming when Cuba will be free. I will open new markets to goods made in America and make sure our trade is free and fair. And I’ll make sure we help workers who’ve lost a job that won’t come back find a new one that won’t go away.

If I’m elected President, I won’t make it harder to sell our goods overseas and kill more jobs as Senator Obama proposes. I will open new markets to goods made in America and make sure our trade is free and fair. And I’ll make sure we help workers who’ve lost a job that won’t come back find a new one that won’t go away.

The last President to raise taxes and restrict trade in a bad economy as Senator Obama proposes was Herbert Hoover. That turned a recession into a depression. They say those who don’t learn the lessons of history are doomed to repeat them. Well, my friends, I know my history lessons, and I sure won’t make the mistakes Senator Obama will.

If I’m elected President, we’re going to stop sending $700 billion to countries that don’t like us very much. I won’t argue to delay drilling for more oil and gas and building new nuclear power plants in America, as Senator Obama does. We will start new drilling now. We will invest in all energy alternativesÊ– nuclear, wind, solar, and tide. We will encourage the manufacture of hybrid, flex fuel and electric automobiles. We will invest in clean coal technology. We will lower the cost of energy within months, and we will create millions of new jobs.

Let me give you the state of the race today. We have 18 days to go. We’re 6 points down. The national media has written us off. Senator Obama is measuring the drapes, and planning with Speaker Pelosi and Senator Reid to raise taxes, increase spending, take away your right to vote by secret ballot in labor elections, and concede defeat in Iraq. But they forgot to let you decide. My friends, we’ve got them just where we want them.

What America needs in this hour is a fighter; someone who puts all his cards on the table and trusts the judgment of the American people. I come from a long line of McCains who believed that to love America is to fight for her. I have fought for you most of my life. There are other ways to love this country, but I’ve never been the kind to do it from the sidelines.

I know you’re worried. America is a great country, but we are at a moment of national crisis that will determine our future. Will we continue to lead the world’s economies or will we be overtaken? Will the world become safer or more dangerous? Will our military remain the strongest in the world? Will our children and grandchildren’s future be brighter than ours?

My answer to you is yes. Yes, we will lead. Yes, we will prosper. Yes, we will be safer. Yes, we will pass on to our children a stronger, better country. But we must be prepared to act swiftly, boldly, with courage and wisdom.

I know what fear feels like. It’s a thief in the night who robs your strength. I know what hopelessness feels like. It’s an enemy who defeats your will. I felt those things once before. I will never let them in again. I’m an American. And I choose to fight.

Don’t give up hope. Be strong. Have courage. And fight.

Fight for a new direction for our country. Fight for what’s right for America. Fight to clean up the mess of corruption, infighting and selfishness in Washington.

Fight to get our economy out of the ditch and back in the lead.

Fight for the ideals and character of a free people.

    Fight for our children’s future.

Fight for justice and opportunity for all.

Stand up to defend our country from its enemies.

Stand up, stand up, stand up and fight. America is worth fighting for. Nothing is inevitable here. We never give up. We never quit. We never hide from history. We make history.

Now, let’s go win this election and get this country moving again.

If that is true why are Jewish groups endorsing Obama?

Yes, do you? Mass extermination of troops with poison gas during World War I in Belgium. A poem written during a lull in the fighting. Odd that you would choose a poem about Canadian troops to make some point, but then again, I have no idea what your point is.

  • TxDi

Yes, God bless America!!! The land of the free.

Why should we be like anyone else? We are Americans. But we can be better. Do you really think there is no room for improvement? Have we really reached some pinnacle of achievement? It thats the case, aren’t we due for a fall?

Or can we better ourselves? I think that we can.

  • Peggy Sue

The past has everything to do with the present. And if you cannot see or understand that then you are absolutely pathetic. Have any relatives who fought in a war, Jason? Ever gone to war yourself? Or perhaps, you think it would have been better for the US to turn its back on Europe, folded when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor.

How about 9/11, Jason. How did that make you feel? Let’s look to the future. Is that what you said and thought?

Tell that to the nearly 3000 people who died in those attacks, people from every corner of the world. Gentiles, jews, muslims. Black, white, young and old, male and female.

Is that the glory you’re referencing? Is that the “past” we’re suppose to forget in order to look to the future?

Oh yes, lots of people die in the world. But this time, this day they died here in our country, on our soil.

Forget the past? Try telling that to the families, the survivors, the men and women who worked their hearts out trying to the rescue the dead.

Sure, Jason. Tell them to look to the future and then explain why you or the Obama folks don’t have time to sing the National Anthem.

In fact, tell that to our guys in Iraq. Tell it to any veteran. And then be prepared to run like hell!

That’s probably the biggest thing for me and all my family. We are no longer divided as Democrats and Republicans arguing rhetoric as we have in years gone by.

We are now strongly united in our pride of being Americans fighting for the patriot who has spent his life defending and fighting for our country and her people and united against the person who has proven by word and by deed that his ultimate goal is to destroy her.

LMAO . yes, the great sub-prime real estate conspiracy. LOL yeah at most the sub-prime loans made up about 6 percent of all home loans. and only a fraction of those went into foreclosure. They didn’t have enough mass to bring down the investment banking industry of America. Besides the builders of America weren’t just sitting ideally by watching the price of real estate skyrocket due to all the speculation fueled by the bush tax cuts. Nope. they were building like crazy. That alone would have offset any demand generated by lower income folks wanting to buy their own home. What fueled this craziness was all the people with all that extra money buying investment properties which they then tried to rent out or sell at profit. The investors were the biggest buyers of homes from the builder I was working for. It wasn’t the poor. It was guys trying to live their cash flow real estate to riches fantasy. Just like they told em on TV during the infomercial. And builders built more houses for them. I wish you could see all the communities we built that six months after they were done had about three homes with homeowners living in them and the rest for sale (for profit by their buyers ) or for rent. And at the end, all those guys ended up foreclosing because they couldn’t rent or couldn’t sell due to the market price dropping on the home they bought for investment… or even better, bailing out of their contracts with the builder thereby killing the builders and the banks holding their loans.

But you know, you don’t really expect the guys who helped to fuel this fiasco (and who profited from it immensely when they took their fees) to take any responsibility? Why should they when they can blame it on the poor and you’ll more then happily believe them.

Did you have parents who lived through the Depression and fought in WWII? Uncles and Aunts who served?? If not, take a hike.

Patriotic songs and actions keep patriotism and love of country alive. You are crazy if you think we had any kind of great economy when WWII started. WWII helped us out of the Depression but we would not have gotten out without hope and belief that our country was the best in the World.

I have stood by our Veterans at things like the dedication of the D-Day Memorial in Bedford, VA. I have listened as my father’s friends in their 70s and 80s gave a memorial 21 gun salute at his funeral.

Good luck with your dragging down of America and your revisionist history. I have my eyes wide open and know the truth.

Sorry for you that you live in a delusion.

  • Jason

Peggy, your words are hollow and empty. Of course I’ve had relative who fought in wars, WWI, WWII and Viet Nam, in fact. Do I remember 9/11? I’ve lived in New York City since 1997. In fact, I can see ground zero from my windows right now. I was here. I know who died. Where were you? Somewhere much safer, I suspect. Does it strike you as odd that the vast majority of those of us that were here voted against Bush and will vote against McCain in a few weeks? What does that tell you?

I am not suggesting we turn our back on the rest of the world. Quite the opposite. Its all in the approach though. We can take the cold war mentality of McCain or you can accept the more nuanced world of Obama. Unfortunately, it just isn’t quite as black and white as Bush or McCain would like it to be.

You should never forget the past – but you need to accept that times have changed.

  • Zeke

    Retire?
Under the new retirement guidelines it will be considered unpatriotic to retire and therefore, if you do retire, your retirement benefits will be permanently rescinded.
Of course, after national health care ala the Netherlands, when you get too old or costly, they’ll just have you report to the hospital to be painlessly terminated for your own good. You will, however, at that time, be awarded the Obama Award for Patriotic Duty which comes with a lifetime supply of Hopium.

Think of something you take for granted. Your cranking at some asshole on the phone. Honking your horn to get the jerk ahead of you to “wake up, the light is green.” Standing in your own front yard and speaking your mind to your neighbor. These things seem minor, but in a state controlled society you can’t do them without risk. Now, with Obama’s children’s army singing his praises, how long will it take for your own kids to sell you out because the One has said to.
Obama has been programmed since birth to be the Clown Prince of Communism. He sees no other way for humankind than to share everything… (except for his parts) The depth of the evil intent of communism has been known since its inception. It was fostered on a lie and its bastard son’s name is Barack Obama.

    The point is…

If ye break faith with us who die
    We shall not sleep

It’s about sacrifice, about living and dying for something beyond yourself, and about fighting evil.

The original point of this thread was that the National Anthem was canceled for a political speech.

That has angered those of us who love what the song stands for and the sacrifices that have been made to keep our nation free.

P.S. So what if the poet was Canadian? We were allies. It was our enemy who gassed our troops (my grandfather survived, thankfully).

Obama’s socialism/communism ideals of “spreading the wealth around” is akin to a Dictatorship. Socialism is nothing of the sort–it’s corrupt, without scruples, and depraved, and it never works. The vaccuum always leads to corruption and a select few usurping power and censoring dissent. Just ask Russia. Or talk to France with their perpetual double-digit unemployment and their absurd secularism that has destroyed their society. Talk to Canada with their shoddy health care that’s “free”–oh by the way they pay 50% income tax for that free healthcare. Or talk to Britian with its dawnning of Sharia law. That’s all shades of what the US could like under Obama.

impartial journalism — thank you for that terrific post.

By 1932 The Depression had sapped the strength and finances of most Americans and a pall had settled on this great nation. This country was flirting with Fascism and Communism because the people wanted quick answers to the crash. Thank God they chose Roosevelt instead of Hitler. Roosevelt saw the American people through The Depression and the War which followed. At one point people loved FDR so much they wanted him to be President for life but Roosevelt said that would be wrong. This country would remain a Democracy. Roosevelt never saw the end of the war which sapped his strength and took his life. He will be remembered always because he kept this country’s Democracy. No small feat these days.

What isn’t racist in Obama Nation? Wait till Obama rolls out the “New National Anthem” to go with our “New Pledge to the Almighty Obama” and the “New Obama Nation Flag”. Don’t you know what Senator Government has to say is much more important than taking one minute to listen to the National Anthem for the country that gave him a Harvard education? My knowledge of economics is just fine. But to me the patriotic American trumps all that.

You cannot win a war without love of country and belief in what you are doing. IN short, Patriotism. You can have loads of bombs and military armaments and you can win tactically but your victory is hollow unless you believe you have a cause.

The cause in the US has always been that we believe we are the best and brightest hope in the World. I am tired of all you European lovers pulling us down. You are killing our spirit. I have decided that the beliefs of our forefathers are worth dying for and if it takes that I will.

On this November the 4th, we would do well to remember the words of the traitor Bill, “why get in their face when a coward’s bomb will do,” Ayers’ July 4th words.
We will remember our Nation, its Flag, its Pledge of Allegiance and its very hard to sing National Anthem and WE WILL STOP THIS COMMUNIST SONOFABITCH!
When I think of Bill, the pusbucket, Ayers all I wish is that we could step back to the days of Andrew Jackson for just the time it would take to slap his face and call him out.
But, he is a typical little weasel, condemned by a God he doesn’t believe in to be a small man with “small man’s disease.” Bombs make his balls bigger. Not as big as his wife’s balls but bigger, none the less. He’s the type of little fucker who’d mouth off to bigger guys when he had a gang behind him. The kind of small souled bastard who wouldn’t dare step up to a guy like Joe the Plumber and say shit to him unless he knew he was safe.
The words of a man can be what they are, but they only have power when you put your life behind them.

that might be the case if there wasn’t this thing called competition. Now with competition involved there’s always going to be someone somewhere who will eat the tax increase and not pass it on to the consumer in an attempt to build his own company’s market share. Which means to compete everyone else has to follow suit or find some other gimmick. Either way it is going to reduce the amount of money the business owner can pay himself ( or pay out in the form of low tax dividends) which is really not all that much different than an increased personal income tax.

Do you not understand that Americans are the most generous, most charitable country in the world? Millions of people across this great land freely give of their time and the money they have to help those in need. They do this with a willing heart and compassion. If you’ve not seen evidence of this, then you yourself have not taken a step to make that happen. Or would you rather be mandated by government before you’re willing to help others?

Of course we can better ourselves – individually, it’s something every person should strive to do. That’s why I fought with all my strength to pull myself out of poverty, working a tremendous amount of hours, doing without to make a better life for myself and children. And I did it – without any assistance other than the unwavering support of my family who believed in me for which I will be eternally grateful.

Starting my own business was a shining moment for me, and should I, working 14-16 hours a day expand upon that business, hiring more employees, why should I enable those who don’t have the desire or fortitude to reach for their own dreams of success (whatever they deem that to be)?

The people want hope? They want change? It all starts within. And once taken root within, no one can stop them from achieving their dreams. That’s hope. That’s effecting REAL change. Not empty words spoken by someone who does not know, does not care to know or understand a thing about who you are. Not someone who so blatantly panders to his audience telling them only what they want to hear for the moment. Not someone who has consistently lied to those who support him. Why would anyone put their trust and their future into the hands of someone like that?

Better yourself. Then with a joyful, willing heart encourage another to do the same. Only in this way can REAL change take place.

Jesse Jackson says that the US relationship with Israel will have to change and that we have to apologize to the muslim nations for decades of mistreatment. Doesn’t Jackson think this might be a bad time to apologize to all these muslim nations when our soldiers are fighting and dying in two wars in the Middle East? I guess Jesse has also forgotten 9/11 when 3,000 Americans were killed by muslim terrorists.

WildChild, that’s BS. Granted, the fiscal policies of the Bush administration have been ruinous. But it wasn’t government spending per sse that funded the real estate bubble. That particular bastard child has many fathers:

    1) A Democratic president (Clinton) that rammed through mandated housing loans to people with little or no capacity to repay them.

    2) Greedy mortgage lenders who saw lots of money being made in the new “sub-prime” mortgage market and who joined in to get their share of the loot

    3) Wall Street investment banks who made untold millions securitizing these shitty loans and selling them off.

    4) Stupid banks and investment funds who bought these securitized loans without having any idea what they were really buying

    5) Democrats and Republicans in Congress who protected this Ponzi scheme for years and its main government facilitators, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, in exchange for campaign cash.

    6) An incompetent Republican president who, once again, sat around with his thumb up his ass while disaster loomed.

    7) As much as anyone else, greedy and stupid American consumers who went out and bought houses that they knew damn well they couldn’t afford, leveraging themselves to the hilt in the process, under the woefully misguided assumption that real estate prices never go down.

There’s no single person or group responsible for this fucking mess. There’s plenty of blame to go around.

Well, in all fairness, when did the Super Bowl ever bump the National Anthem?
Has any baseball game ever bumped the Anthem?
Hell, pro hockey has time for TWO National Anthems (if a Canadian AND American team are playing).
But Obama’s campaign needs more time to make speeches.
And your whole “we all love the national anthem” paragraph is just so full of shit. You should note that Barack Obama “doesn’t have the ability to solve a world wide financial crisis”. Maybe Obama might quit bringing up the past himself before you pull the “placate those who would run toward the past” canard. Didn’t Obama mention that he didn’t look like the guys on our currency? (That’s “running toward the past”.) Didn’t Obama rhapsodize over his childhood international travel being sufficient “foreign policy experience”? (That’s “running toward the past”.) Didn’t the Obama campaign criticize Hillary’s reaction to winning the New Hampshire primary by invoking Katrina? (That’s “running toward the past”.)
Obama and his people have done a hell of a lot of “running toward the past”. Hell, Obama picked one of the 5 longest-serving Senators for his VP. Doesn’t THAT count as “running toward the past”?

How scary…that asking questions or debating too effectively makes someone a target.

I would be paranoid too if a Crown Vic was parked outside my door.

Who knows what their intentions are? You would think a geniune govt official would already have questioned him.

Maybe Larry can help you and your friend figure this thing out

    Sarracuda!
I admire your dad very much. To have stood and fought for Israel in ’67…
I bounced at a bar in Mannheim, Germany in the early 70′s and worked for an Israeli there. Abe (pronounced Ah-Bey) always loved to tell me why the war only took six days… he swore they used rented equipment.
So, he’d just returned from the Yom Kippur war, (gone three weeks… the girls were inconsolable) the knucklehead got wounded in the shoulder. God spare anyone from a wounded Israeli soldier when he comes home… could he play his sympathy cards right!
We were getting drunk after closing some weeks later and I asked him about the “rented equipment” thing and mentioned that it had taken more than three times as long to do this time. He told me that with their new, preferred customer rate, they could take all the time they wanted.
Abe, I hope you still live and that the cognac is better next year, in Jerusalem!

Sounds like the woman in Texas who when called by an Obama volunteer gave the woman a piece of her mind. On the subject of live birth abortion she told the Obama volunteer that she was not going to vote for someone who allowed babies to die in closets. The next day the Secret Service was at her door because the volunteer reported that she said she wanted to kill Obama. She told them she never said that and they believed her. But its sad when free speech gets in the way of a vindictive volunteer.

hey there, what I basically do is I go to johnmccain.com, find out where her rallies are gonna be at, then I do a yahoo search for that state’s news web sites and they always have a live streaming video of her rallies, she is awesome at every rally, she always adds a few things from each rally, like she brings up sports and stuff, since she loves sports, for the last few days she has been talking about ACORN, and spreading the wealth around, doesn’t talk about Ayers anymore, she says “Its not negative campaigning, its just important to bring up someone’s judgment and associations” she demanded today that obama release all his connections with ACORN, HAHA like that will happen!! Today in Indiana she had 25,000 people I believe come and see her. At every rally they have people singing the national anthem(Unlike Obama rallies) and giving praise to America, singing songs, its just amazing!! Makes you really proud to be an American, even at a rally yesterday(I forgot where she was) she actually sang a little bit, someone put the mic to her, she was kinda embarrassed but sang, I thought she was pretty good!! Give her 4 years under the guidance of John McCain and his advisers and yes, she will be absolutely ready to run for president in 2012, no matter what happens in this election, she is the STAR, the FUTURE of the Republican party. I have never seen anyone like her before, so inspirational, it’s like looking into the eyes of Ronald Reagan, I know he would be very proud of her

I have no idea. But since you’ve appointed yourself keeper of the national anthem, perhaps you’d be kind enough to identify each and every event at which the anthem is required. I note in passing that the presidential debates somehow managed to get by without it, and I’ll save you the trouble of identifying both candidates and the moderator as haters of America.

So, a simple request: List of events requiring the anthem. Take your time. I’ll be waiting.

i never said it was government spending that fueled the real estate boom. I said it was speculation fueled by tax cuts. Real estate was the sure thing to invest your money into after the bush tax cuts. That’s were it went. The money that was made available to both build and speculate was astronomical. At six percent of the total number of home loans sub prime loans did not have enough mass to take down the investment backs. Nor were they massive enough to drive up the average home price 10 percent or more every six months for over five years. The only thing big enough to do that was the money freed up by the tax cuts and sunk into real estate. it was about a trillion dollars in tax cuts wasn’t it? From most of the investors I talked to when they were doing their final walk through’s, they were using interest only loans with very little money down to buy the multiple homes they were purchasing for resale or for rental. They were leveraged to the hilt. And these were the good credit risks. For all the talk about subprime loans it was still hard for credit risks to get home loans to buy our houses. Which might explain why only six percent of the total home loan market was all that went to them. Most of the poor guys ended up being renters, not home owners. I don’t know where this meca for high risk buyers was but it wasn’t in Washington State. In the end is was the speculators and not the poor that foreclosed on their loans when the market got so inflated because of their tax cut fueled speculation that it fell under its own seething mass. That’s what was big enough to kill the builders and the banks.

    This is a cross posting from the article about Joe the Plumber might loose his job;

“Maybe “Joe the Plumber” has a legal action against the media, for his loss of privacy and public disclosure of his personal information (libel or not).

A private person has a constitutional right to keep his personal information private against a sleazy media. All comments that made public by the press were obtained, in majority, from private data.

God help us if another candidate asks us ( Obama asked him about his profession), and we respond to the question.

All this has the appearance of a “Gestapo like Press” or “Cuban Chivatos”.

Obama’s after remarks of Joe’s alleged profession were cynic, self-serving, and demeaning of “small job America.”

Thus, NewHamster has appointed himself Anthem Nazi, and I merely wish to know which events are required, in the view of the rodent, to include the singing of the anthem.

great, LOL you wrote software. That’s fascinating information. I was working for a builder as a superintendent so I got to see up close and personal who was buying and who wasn’t… and I got to see who the banks were loaning money too and who they weren’t…. and in the end I got to see who was bailing and who wasn’t. That’s why I know it was the speculators who bailed. As a matter of fact, in the end they couldn’t bail fast enough. It was like they burst into flames and they only way they could extinguish them was bailing out of their contracts and their loans. It was their bailing that killed my builder, that killed the mortgage guys who carried their loans and who killed the banks who financed both the loans for buying and for building. It was a huge fiasco and the poor had very little to do with it.

    LOL should say oy now?

I don’t agree with housing price being too high. If you go back and look at the income and interest in the late 80′s and early 90′s, even in the high of housing bubble, you are able to buy your home cheap that the Regan years. The income had more that double from those times, and interest is only half of what it was.

So if you are paying 400k for a home today, it’s no more than 100k of the late 80′s.

Granted, the realtor and loan agents had lie to consumers, and wall street were blinded by greed. But they sure are paying the price now. Unfortunately, so are the home owners.

It was never a good economic practice to increase tax. But in order for the government to function, for the social safety net to function, is needed. The trick is a good balance. At some point higher tax is going to effect productivity. At this point of our economy, is the worst possible action.

I think spending a bit more in good times to push social agenda is a good thing, but in bad economy, it won’t do anyone any good.

If you look at China pre 1980, centralized government keep them in poverty for more than 30 yrs, many millions starve to death.(the government basically controls all the wealth and distribute them as they see fit). It wasn’t until they started privatizing that their economy started to leap.

If rioting or violence is attempted in other locals, law enforcement will probably handle it just fine but if they don’t, the Second Amendment provides for remedial action.

Well Lou Dobbs today, his Dem guest (Zimmerman?) admitted Obama/Biden were being “obnoxious” ridiculing the plumber, saying no plumbers make $250k.

Even Atrios says going after the plumber is over the top, though he directs his criticism at the media, but it’s plain as day Obama and Biden are doing it directly. And Michelle Norris doing the story on how Chicago shaped him, a colleague said Obama “goes along” with the machine, the friend said he wished Obama didn’t always go along. Even Moyers tonight had no praise for Obama.

I bought a house in late 2002 for $167,000 after I bought it I moved to Chicago for about a year and a half renting my house in Seattle out. I came back in 2005. My next door neighbor, who has the same house I do on a smaller piece of property sold his house for 250,000. In late 2007 we had our house appraised and it came back at 300,000. Then the housing fiasco hit. My new next door neighbor who bought his house for 250,000 lost his job and had to move back to the midwest for another job. He can’t sell his house. Nobody wants to pay $250,000 for it. So he’s essentially turned it over to the realitor who couldn’t sell it for him to rent to own it while my neighbor still pays the mortgage. Of course the rent to own payment is less than his mortgage so my neighbor still has to pay the balance and then rent in his new state because he isn’t making enough to carry two loans. but he is making enough to pay for two loans: his here in Seattle and the guys he’s paying in the midwest.

I’m telling you this because the real estate fiasco happened over about five years and it has nothing to do with home prices in the eighties. Real estate activity in the eighties didn’t almost kill the US economy. As far as whether you agree or not that housing prices are too high LOL it doesn’t really matter. That’s already been ruled on by the market as it settled down to the level that housing prices would have been had there been no runaway real estate speculation. But then had there been no run away real estate speculation, the people of the United States wouldn’t have had to bail out US banks to the tune of 700 billion dollars and my neighbor wouldn’t have gotten screwed trying to sell his house.

    Sarracuda,

    From the movie “Braveheart”:

William Wallace: I am William Wallace. And, I see a whole army of my country men, here in defiance of tyranny. You’ve come to fight as freemen, and freemen you are. What will you do without freedom?! Will you fight?

Man: No . . . we will run . . . and we will live.

William Wallace: Aye. Fight and you may die. Run and you’ll live, at least a while. And, dying in your beds, many years from now, would you be willing to trade all the days from this day to that for one chance — just one chance — to come back here and tell our enemies, that they may take our lives, but they’ll never take our freedom!

Obama gets elected and tries to become the first dictator and he will rise a sleeping giant – the American people, for all of our faults, love our freedom!

I just don’t think we realize how much.

I am willing to fight for my country and, althougth I’ve never owned a gun, I am seriously contemplating buying one and learning how to use it.

The Founding Fathers put the 2nd Amendment in to protect us from THE GOVERNMENT!!

They didn’t trust government and neither should we.

  • andySF

Again, it’s not about speculation alone.

Most people who speculated in the market were brunted at the end. And your neighbor wouldn’t get screw if he did buy that house. Lost his job and having to move is not the same as people who see their home lost 50% of it’s value(meaning owe the bank a lot more than the house actually worth). I am in agreement with McCain’s plan to help out home owners to save their home. I am against the bail out of the bank. I want the Fed to use those 700 billion to buy those bad mortgages at 30-50 cents on the dollar. Them turn around to restructure it so that the real home owner can have new mortgages that reflect the real value of their home(if they still can afford it and didn’t lie to get the loan, I had seen people falsify their loan info, those should not be helped). Then those bad mortgages become good mortgages, good asset that the tax payer(us) can sell for a profit in the future.

I had made real estate purchase over the years in SF. The first in 1994 at the age of 23(a loan of 100k). The latest in 2006(a loan of 700k). None of them had given me problems even today. I had learn to live within my mean when I first moved to this country in 1984, working full time for half of the minimum wage and go to high school full time. Lived in a studio with the whole family for 4 years until I joint the Navy. I Learn not to buy a car on loan, and not to use credit card unless I can pay them off and the interest is below 4%. I lived below my mean for the last 20 years.

The problem is that most people don’t take the time to understand their own financial situation and the true cost of their property. Most people aren’t responsible with their own finance. They gave predatory realtor an opening to sell them homes they can’t afford. It’s no accident that people in this country live on debt just as much as the government.

It’s funny that everything is always someone else’s fault. Knowing full well that the 20%+ interest on credit card will kill them financially, yet they won’t stop using them.

As I said above, I am all for social programs when the economy is good. But you can only help those who help themselves. For those who don’t pay tax to expect a refund check is just wrong.

To be honest, I will benefit the most under Obama’s tax plan. There are enough write off on depreciation for me to get back a lot more than I paid under Obama’s plan. But his plan is going to kill this economy( as if Bush hadn’t beat it to half death already).

Also, the true value of housing is not reflected in the market. If you look at the actual rent being pay in a given area and the cost of owning a home, you will see that in many areas, the cost of owning is close to the cost of rent. The cost of constructing new homes also cost a lot more than the price of existing homes. That mean the housing price is depressed, not reflective of the real value.

  • NoBamaNoWay

let me clear this up for you Jason: we patriotic, DEMOCRATIC (not obamacratic) americans don’t like whiners. that’s the difference between us and you; we see the glass as half-full, you see it as half empty. no matter what good things america has done, you and your ilk will do nothing but complain and criticise it, until the rest of us can’t even stand to be around you.

we like to see the good in america, be proud of it, and be thankful to live in a country as good as this one is. that doesn’t mean that we don’t see the bad also and work to change it; but we do it with a positive attitude and don’t tear america down while we’re at it.

the bottom line is this: if you think there’s a better country than america, move there. if you’re going to stay here, you could at least pretend you love this country, and learn the art of constructive criticism, because nobody likes a whiner.

  • Papoose

NH, will you be able to provide a follow up as to how the people felt about this slight? Is he getting away with it there?

  • andySF

Exactly. It’s the physiological effect it had on investors. When everyone hold on to their cash, and push back their home purchase, it push home price a lot lower than they really should be. Not investing, and drive stock lower, drive treasure yield higher(also means higher interest and higher federal deficit) as well as less business activities.

  • WildChild

yes… speculation. It was mortgage backed securities that were making all those interest only loans being used by the (tax cut frenzied) speculators possible. It was that speculation that drove up the price of real estate to unsustanable high levels. What you fail to see is how much development that speculation had started and how many partially developed plats in the form of both raw land and partially built out homes that where inflated in price to begin with by all the speculation, were suddenly dumped on the banks when the speculators bailed. When they bailed is when the market dropped out. Now there’s all this overpriced real estate out there being dumped on the banks and the banks can’t sell it. Now their money is frozen in he form of unsellable real estate and they start to fail. The guys who made the killing were the only guys left with the cash to buy but they weren’t buying. They were taking their money and running.

It’s funny as hell that you think that lower income people with a thirty year mortgage are what caused this. People with financial difficulties were foreclosing this whole time and it was their misfortune that was feeding the guys buying and flipping houses. But even flipping was only lucrative when speculation was driving up prices artificially fast. Once the speculators bailed it was game over and all the banks in the private sector left holding the bag… Well, they had to bailed out to the tune of 700 billion by we the people of the United States of America. And that wasn’t the happy ending we were promised by the free market types.

  • NoBamaNoWay

nothing gets in the way of the Obamessiah’s self-promotion, does it?

  • WildChild

If it isn’t about speculation alone you have to give me another mechanism that can artificially drive up the price of real estate 10 percent or more every six months for five years at the same time builders are building like crazy. I personally have an issue with supply siders but the basic supply and demand dynamic in an economy functions to keep balance. What we just lived through was an example of an extreme imbalance. The only thing that happened that had the mass to make this thing possible in such a short time was the trillion dollars in tax cuts that George Bush dumped into our economy at the beginning of his term. And he just dumped it. There was no plan for that money other then faith in the free market. That money didn’t go into the stock market. The stock market hasn’t done as well under Bush as it did under Clinton. So where did it go if not into real estate? Well, it went into real estate. Real estate was the hot new thing and that is where the money went. That dumping of money into primarily one sector of the economy was the only force that could cause such an imbalance. People want to blame this on the poor but I’m sorry, the poor could not generate enough capitol to influence the real estate market this way. That kind of capitol came in the form of one trillion dollars in tax cuts and the price we have to pay for that simple act of retardation is at least 700 billion dollars in direct bail out coupled with the indirect cost to all the guys who for what ever reason had to buy a home at the inflated price and may not be able to sell it to recoup there reinvestment for the next ten years or longer. If they ever do.

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bijtBkKQwY8 Jeremiah God Damn Barack Amerikkka Wright

btw since you saw some guy build a house and buy a house and sell a house, i am happy for you but really.

Let me paint a simple picture for you since you could benefit and if not you anyone who reads your rubbish railing against speculaters definately could.

    Bank makes loan

Bank then turns around and sells loan for less than full value at term to get money back to make more loans.

Who buys these loans? Lots of people but its usually bundled in a portfolio as a long term investment with a guaranteed rate of return and believed to be managed risk.

Who determines the risk level that is acceptable?

    It used to be banks.

    Not any more.

    Why?

    CRA.

    What did CRA do?

It mandated making loans to people who basicly where high risk lenders.

    Whats High risk?

Someone who doesnt put a lot down, doesn’t have a long and steady job history, is socio-economicaly challenged, and has a less than stellar creidt rating.

Whats another name for this demographic?

    Low Income High Risk Borrowers.

But CRA cant force you to make loans like that!

Oh yeah? Tell it to the Thrift in Illinios that Barack Obama helped Acorn sue to prevent their merger.

But why would a bank make a bad loan?

Because the government turned Fannie and Freddie into a clearing house for em.

But Government organizations are Honest! Well technically Fannie Freddie weren’t part of the government like they are right now with the take over but they really were.

And No honesty is not the issue, not when You pack your cronnies on their governing boards and set up deals where you the Democratic party prevent any meaningful oversite to your giant Acorn Sluch Fund where you basicly buy votes by making bad mortgages available.

But didn’t fannie resist? Sure until they suddenly realised how much money could be made doing it.

Once the governement started buying em as part of its investement portfolio it could set the “standards” for what it considered acceptable risk.

So the bank can now make a bad investment with the comfort of knowing the Government says no thats a good investment.

Then the bank which is in the business of lending not collecting mortgages will bundle that crappy risky loan with a bunch of less risky loans and call it a portfolio.

Now How do people know if the banks are being honest about whats in the portfolio?

Why thats a good question! The bankers and lender get in bed with firms who they pay big bucks to to “perform due diligence” on these portfolios and come out with a rating on them and a report that says THEM THERE LOANS ARE HONEST TO GOODNESS GOOD!

Wait but if you are hiring someone to do due diligence doesnt that mean that they will tell you the truth?

Well think about it, if you are paying the judge to deliberate for you do you expect a favorable outcome?

Now these due diligence firms answer to nobody but the lenders…nobody is regulating them. And Fannie and Freddie standards are suddenly being called the gold standard of subprime lending.

And since the governement said it it must be true.

Now these banks and lenders slice and dice these portfolios into highy desireable low risk low return portfolios and not so desireable higher risk higher return (interst rate) portfolios and other various classifications in between.

The investment funds and mortgage security traders come in and buy these portfolios and some stick em away and reap the steady trickle of profits and others slice and dice em and go back to these so called highly reputable due diligence firms and slice and dice these protfolios some more and sell them to other funds and investment firms.

Now back on main street, the banks got its money back from selling the loan and can make more loans now, cuz thats what a bank is in business for lending money.

But now you have a little problem. More access based on lowered standards starts a rush of home ownership that begins to heat the market.

In 1997 the stock market dot com bubble bursts. A lot of people who
had invested in these over leveradge dot com firms with value at 50 100 500 5000 times earnings suddenly began to plummet in value when the realization suddenly hit that OMG its a ponzi scheme they really arent with the paper and spit they are selling.

So investors started looking for a new more sound investment to put their money in. Investment funds dumped a lot of that dot com stock and started looking seriously at mortgage backed securities from the subprime market as a safer more guaranteed less risky (LOLS) investment.

Suddenly due dilligence firms balooned from 30 people and 100 underwriters to 300 people and 1500 underwriters working overtime with a 10 laons a day or your out approach to bare minimum due dilignece to standards set by the guy who wants the protfolio “scrubbed for sale” as the Subprime lending mortgage securities became the prefered investment of the day.

Wait whats “Scrubbed for Sale” mean?

You know Barack Obama? You know how the Main Stream Media Whitewashes all the bad shit in his past and tells everyone there is nothing to see move along? Same thing.

But with the demand for these new reliable and profitable investments the bansk just cant keep up.

Wait profitable? What do you mean?

Well…lets go in the rabbit hole for a minute….

The banks make points when they create a mortage – Profit!

The banks sell the mortages at less than face value – Profit!

Wait how do they make a profit when they sell at less than face value?

Remember you pay a heck of a lot more over the life of the loan than your house is actually worth! That 100 K mortgage is actually 300K in real dollars over the life of the loan! (example math not accurate) so the bank sells the loan for 105000 for a quick turn around and an easy buck.

The investor looks at it and says hmm…do i want my money tied up for 30 years? to make 195000? or do i hang on to it for a short time then sell it again like the bank did for a slive of the pie and reinvest. The slice of the pie i take now is bigger in ratio to the slice over time.

Wait what does that mean? well think about it.

If i hold the paper for yeah and sell it for say 110,000 i get the interst from those monthly payments + another 5 K. The real value of that mortgage is 300K – 5K paid – Payments recieved – my 5K cut when i sell…somewhere around oh say 280K now.

But remember the longer you hold a mortgage the more risky the mortgage becomes.

How? well over time the chance that one of the loans in that protfolio goes bad and is defaulted on increases…loss.

Over time the likely hood the mortgages in the protfolio continue to term declines as people refinance…potential loss.

How? well you cant stop people from refinancing and if you pay 105K for the paper and the borrower goes and refinances the next day…you just overpaid 5K.

Ok lets crawl out of the rabbit hole and go back to main street….

So you have banks now in the business of lending…but there is too much demand.

Enter Lending companies…mortgage clearing houses that litterally make a loan and turn around and package that loan in a portfolio for sale before the ink is even dry.

    They offer no point loans
    no down loans
    no equity loans
    no income verification loans
    no credit check loans
    125% of appraised value loans
no principle for 1 3 5 year loans
    sell us your grandmother loans

They don’t care because the lending standards are set so low by fannie and freddie that they can massage the system so that any one can qualify for a loan, yes even you Joe the Plumber with no Plumber license and a tax lien!

and they turn around and sell them off getting a nice profit and their lending funds back to do it again.

Business got so good that a lot of banks just went ahead and let the lending institutions make the loans for them with their money and the banks just enjoyed the profit with little neccessary work.

And those subprime mortgage portfolios became a standard part of investment funds and retirment funds and the value companies used to determine their well…value so they could borrow money and do business.

So where are these so called speculators wildchild is talking about?

Beats me, probably bidding the price of oil to 146 dollars a barrel.

    but back on point.

Lets skip the whole feeding frenzy that ensued as everyone and their mother decided they wanted to buy remodel refinance remodel again sell and buy another house as i think most everyone knows what happened then from 1997 to 2005 and the Do It Yourself network is proof positive with the wildly popular home renovation shows.

when the housing market started to cool and warning sirens were gong off at fannie freddie was way over leveraged, while Barney frank held hearings to say THERE IS NOTHING TO SEE HERE MOVE ALONG!!

    People started to get nervous.

Suddenly people realized that subprime loans were SUB prime!

    What went wrong?

Did every single socio economically challenged low income high risk borrower suddenly default?

    No of course not.

But with the economic downturn, enough did that it started raising questions about the real value of these mortgage backed securities.

    What were they really worth?

With falling realestate prices they were probably worth on average 20% less than the face value of the note…no biggie really because you look at the life time value of the note for projected value plus a bunch of complex when will they refinance or sell calculations.

But the chicken littles on wall street got nervous. Suddenly these toxic assests poisoned the percieved value of the portfolios and people stopped wanted to extend credit against them.

    No Credit no money

No Money no abiltiy to pay your day to day operating costs

which means you are going to go out of business because the market suddenly lost faith in your credit worthiness.

So boom boom boom lenders and banks start to collapse.

OH my GOD I think we just found the Speculators!!!

    Why yes we did!

The speculators weren’t the rotten little bastards running around buying a second house and renovating and selling or renting them out.

The speculators where the money lenders that decided after 10 years that suddenly these assests were worth a lot less than they actually were worth and over reacted froze the credit market and percipitated the financial disaster themselves.

This was a manufactured disaster. Why? Who knows. Panic? Lack of faith? Evil Intent to change the way we do business?

    You be the judge.

But the fact of the matter is if you have an asset it has two basic values.

    Actual worth to you.
    Percieved worth to everyone else.

When their perception affects your perception the trouble begins.

Were the subprime loans bad? Hell yes!

Are they all worthless! HELL NO!

Are we being played and is someone making a killing off of this whole financial devaluation so it can be pumped back up again?

    YOU BETCHA!!!!!!

I could go into more detail but those who read this will get the picture and the person who shoudl read this will probably insist i just write software and because he goes to home depot he gets it!

  • WildChild

I live not all that far from the biggest producer of some of the most important software in use today. But just because they wrote the code, doesn’t mean they know how I use it. Considering that most financial information is proprietary I have a high confidence that you were not given anything other then limited access to any data. Designing a program around a set of identified parameters doesn’t require access to the details of specific information stored in it or used by it.

Nobody has been bailed out yet.

If you don’t like what happened vote the democrats out of office.

    Its their bailout.

In any event, your argument is ass backwards.

And that wasn’t the happy ending we were promised by the free market types.

    Socialist countries –> that way.

  • WildChild

oh almost forgot. people with bad credit were always getting refused loans for our homes. you’re making it sound like everybody who wanted a loan got one. But I know from actual experience that’s not true. Now I’m sorry that somebody got sued and I’m sorry that somebody felt pressure, but at the end of the day sub prime home loans where only about 6 percent of all home loans. Which means 94 percent of all other loans were not subprime loans. I find it hard to believe that our investment banking system is so fragile that partial percentage of only six percent of all home loans going into foreclosure could cause a financial melt down of the size and scope that we have just seen. yet, that is what you would have me believe. That would be similar to me having a hundred bucks and losing a number less than six of them. LOL I’m probably not going to go bankrupt anytime soon. LMAO ….My world will not collapse around me

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bijtBkKQwY8 Jeremiah God Damn Barack Amerikkka Wright

    Just one?

    1) polulation increase of first time home buyers

    2) immigration to a more desireable area to live due to economic growth and demand for workers.

    3) lack of sufficient housing in certain markets

    there is three

You do realize michigan realestate prices didn’t experience the boom that Fort Lauderdale did…right?

Anyway i’m done argue this issue with you.

Its not nearly as entertaining as it was earlier when you stick your fingers in your ear and chant speculators speculators.

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bijtBkKQwY8 Jeremiah God Damn Barack Amerikkka Wright

buy the way, where the hell are you shopping for a house if you could buy one solely with the measley tax cut we got with george bush?

  • WildChild

OK, LOL then I guess that 700 billion dollar bail out was… fiction?

realty— LOL ah who are we kidding. You’d never find it.

  • WildChild

fleeing eh? that’s ok ,your examples are easily countered by the building boom that occurred at the same time speculation was going rampant. But then I did say earlier that we were building entire plats out that were being bought up by investors and not first time home owners, LOL or immigrants… or people that just couldn’t find a home to wive in LMAO . Do you have any other examples you might want to fling at the wall and hope they stick?

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bijtBkKQwY8 Jeremiah God Damn Barack Amerikkka Wright

your confidence like your understanding of this crisis is Faulty.

I am not going to get into a debate with you about my personal credentials. Doing so would require that i drop the veil of anonymity and that’s not wise.

Suffice it to say, your full of crapo if you think every company has a team of software enginerers with level of code clearance and secret hallways with laser identification systems and contained vlimates.

A lot of companies still program by the seat of their pants and don’t want you to know that because it undermines their percieved credibility.

Just because you watched a film where tome cruise busts into langley doesn’t mean you actually saw the inside of langley my friend.

oh almost forgot. people with bad credit were always getting refused loans for our homes. you’re making it sound like everybody who wanted a loan got one

hahaha your kidding right? You really are clueless to what was going on! Your builder of condos may have refused to take on buyers with bad credit but there were plenty of Cork Soakers out there who had no problem making loans to them on existing property that they wanted to move. Really you are talking from a position of your own percieved authority but i am trying to help you and tell you, you really are not as versed in this as you believe yourself to be and its becoming blatently evident with every post.

I find it hard to believe that our investment banking system is so fragile that partial percentage of only six percent of all home loans going into foreclosure could cause a financial melt down of the size and scope that we have just seen.

    Oh good lord.

    Beyond clueless.

    Your right.

There is nothing to see here it was all the speculators.

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bijtBkKQwY8 Jeremiah God Damn Barack Amerikkka Wright

oh one more nugget to chew on…

Based on your “theory” what the heck makes you think that a 700 billion dollar bailout can rescue an industry with 461 trillion in Mortgage backed securities

By your own claim that 6% cant take a market down, how can a rescue package of less than 0.15% (thats point one five, not fifteen) have any effect at all?

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bijtBkKQwY8 Jeremiah God Damn Barack Amerikkka Wright

Also you are beginning to stretch credibility, your an expert in housing construction, your an expert in lending, you are an expert in understanding the subprime market and now becaouse of your proximity to a software manufacturers headquarters and the fact that you bought a copy of office for vista, you are an expert in software development too?

Come on buddy. Stop while you are behind.

  • WildChild

I really don’t need to discuss your personal credentials. They’re on display for all to see. You claim to be a guy involved in doing the due diligence on these loan packages and they failed in such a way that the US Economy was threatened…. LMAO let’s be honest here. You suck at your job. (ROFLMAO)……. Why would anybody with more than two pennies to rub together listen to anything you have to say?

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bijtBkKQwY8 Jeremiah God Damn Barack Amerikkka Wright

    sigh.

No I never claimed i was doing the due diligence, thats what we hired underwriter’s to do using the software we wrote to track the information and analyze the protfolios and scrub them per client instructions.

    In regards to your opinions…

Do you think i actually care what your opinion is? Based on your moronic understanding of the subprime mortgage crisis and your refusal to let go of your SPECULATORSZOMG!!! claims i am not particularly concerned what you think of me or my job performance at all.

If thats what you need to tell yourself to ease the sting of having been exposed as a blithering idiot, stick with it…i couldn’t care less.

But one thing i can walk away from this conversation knowing is that you are still no more educated than when we started this discussion and thats your failing…not mine.

  • WildChild

ah, so then you were the company that was responsible for doing the due diligence but you subbed it out and now you think you can pass the buck on responsibility. I guess that leaves you either ignorant or negligent. Either way you were hired by a company to provide a service and failed miserably as the loan packages you “Scrubbed” practicably brought down the Us Economy. Like I said before, You suck at your job. So why would anybody with more than two pennies to rub together listen to anything you have to say?

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bijtBkKQwY8 Jeremiah God Damn Barack Amerikkka Wright

    fleeing? no.

Making the decision to stop wasting precious time on an ignorant individual that thinks a discussion is based on sticking with a faulty premise and defending it to the death because his false sense of hubris prevents him from actually trying to expand his understanding of an issue? yes.

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bijtBkKQwY8 Jeremiah God Damn Barack Amerikkka Wright

Subbed out? Passed the Buck? what the hell are you talking about do you even know how to comprehend when you read?

Truly you are a moron of epic proportions.

what else needs to be said.

  • WildChild

i do understand it. Your own argument supports what I’ve been saying. i said earlier that the investors buying our homes where using interest only loans with very little Down. You yourself gave very little down first billing on a risky loan. and that’s preciously the kind of loan the speculators were using. but they had good credit ratings and the had jobs and they were respectable on paper. And they jumped ship at the first sign of trouble. And then of course there was a lot more of them buying our houses then there were low income credit risks. The speculators with their risky loans were buying up almost entire communities for resale or rent and in the end they bailed on entire communities. The low income credit ricks had a hard time getting loans so they weren’t represented very well and are not responsible for this fiasco. If anything they were the ones renting from the speculators.

Yes I concede your point that the National Anthem can’t solve our problems, but neither can a lying inexperienced jr senator from IL who is the puppet of his corrupt part and who can’t put three words together without a teleprompter (not to mention his associations with too-numerous-to-count less than savory characters)

  • WasLNbutNoBamaBotsKeepStealingMyName

Oh how stupid can you get…that’s the whole point, it’s NOT required. People love to hear the anthem and say the pledge because it reminds us of our cherished democratic values, which, BTW, will go out the window IF your precious fascist candidate gets into office.

you will soon find out the truth about obama and he ayers and the rest plans to takeover america and help radical islam takeover kenya and overthrow the usa…obama is a muslim,,,his family are muslims he will stand with the muslims, now..as the winds turned ugly on 911,never forget

  • V

The National Anthem is white and racist now…huh?

No, of course not. However, castigating Barack Obama for omitting it from an event while ignoring whether or not McCain or any other candidate has done so constitutes a double standard. Taken together with the careless slurs about his middle name, his birthplace, his “muslim” parentage, etc, a context for the slander begins to emerge: Obama is not American enough; not “one of us”.

Since the slurs are all false, any reasonable person will wonder where all of this animosity really comes from. The answer lies in a dark place; your reptilian core, your fear of “the other”.

You won’t understand any of this of course, but there it is. Doesn’t make you or New Hamster or anyone else commenting or posting here a bad person, but well, there’s no other way to say it: This is simply bigotry, or racism. Deal with it.

  • bemused

That’s because your comments, V, are just like Oblahblah’s speeches, nice words grammatically strung together and correctly spelled, impression of lofty epithets. I also read your first comment as “the anthem is white and racist” and your second as a practically perfect Oblather Backstep with added change of subject for distraction.

Keep up, little grasshopper. You are learning well the techniques of conversational hypnotism. Someday you too can hoodwink and bamboozle.

  • Postmaster

obviously V missed the point in this….Obama scheduled a young man to sing the anthem, then CANCELLED. Got it?

  • Karma

Stealing HuffPo’s reptilian brain theory on the Iraq war fear to justify why the Skull and Bonesman Kerry didn’t fight for the White House is ignorant on so many levels.

As is the belief that the reason Obama isn’t connecting is solely because of racism. If anything the fact that they both couldn’t seal the deal proves that the DNC should stop trying to hoist elite liberals on the American populace.

Clinton, a centrist, and someone the media and the DNC treated like ignorant hicks when they ran, could seal the deal. He didn’t go out of his way to repeatedly insult the very same people he wanted their vote such as Obama has for months on end. Why this simple fact of not insulting people as a campaign stragedy hasn’t dawned on the Obama team is beyond me. But apparently, it has escaped you as well.

Obama is a fool to run from his middle name and call anyone racist for using it. Place the blame on Obama for his thin skin over his name. Every President is referred to by their initials except Obama which is a result of his definition not anyone else’s. Just like in real life, when someone has delicate sensibilities over something so small. They are bound to get needled over it. It represents Obama’s lack of faith in the America people who have voted for him. It represents his weakness as a man, to not stand up for himself as well. And it represents his own racism against the masses.

Sorry bud, trying to smear a stranger on the net as racist is also ignorant on so many levels.

You have no idea about my life or anyone else’s. I was raised to confront racism and not stand by when it reveals itself. My life has been threatened repeatedly by real racists. The kind that kill people and yes they were white.

So while you confront people you assume are racists from the comfort of your house. Don’t think it carries any weight with people who have confronted the dangerous type of racists in their lives.

If you had any intellectual integrity in basing your argument on racism. Then you would be able to argue for yourself the very questions you pose. Especially, since Obama is trying to sell himself to America and has already had an Anthem scandal. It is just smart campaigning to learn from previous mistakes and keep that flank secure from attack.

  • I told You so…

if 1 mimute is to much for Obama to dedicate to OUR National Anthem, then how can We all believe, tha He will give us His 4 years of Presidency!!! He will do all, that He didnt promise YET, and how can we just “hope for change” and WE still dont know, what “change” He will deliver!!! All those scary tacticks, lies, ignorance… He change so much, or He is the one, we didnt see when He was trashing Hillary, who is Obama supporter now. How any one can be so blind and deaf and not to see the real Obama. I can see Him stepping all over american flag with His body Ayers!!!
And what is more amazing form me, that no one seem to care
But dont complain and bitch when You choose this man for President. He well laugh hard at US, once He will get to White House. And dont blame HIM, but blame Your self. He turns US aroung His middle Finger as much as possible, He spit in Our faces, and You didnt do anything, but pretend, that is OK to have a such ugly pass and this will be OUR future, not pretty but not good either. He is smart and very inteligent, and He will prove, how naive we are AGAIN!!! After Nov.4th we will learn about the real Obama, and I will congratulate Him for!!! If You dont see this for the last 17 monts, and didnt do nothing to stop a such campain Obama gives US, then why now.WE have OUR chance to have Hillary, but were to lazy to vote for Hillary in Primaries, now is to late .It is to late and only 17 days left… He is getting ready to take over USA with; Franakhan,Wright,Ayers,Acron,Dean,Brazile,Pelosi,Reid,Hoyer,Edwards, and list getting longer and longer.I respect any faith as longer no One is telling me , what faith should be mine…
Obama show anbelievable talent in manipuilating most of US, of USA. He will be another Bush combain with socjalism or else…, not McCain.McCain is not pro Bush politics, He is Himself, independent mind. Just because He supported many Bush bills, that those not makes HIM pro BUSH, because They can not stand each other.Just because Obama claims , that He is against invasion on Iraq, it does not mean that He truly is.Movement against this invasion “WAS” so strong, that He use this against Hillary and He did a great jon on this metter. I was rise under communist rezim, but I am not pro communism. Socjalizm dont scare me as long as is good for people.. I am not politician, I hate politics, but I watch what is going on, and I know what is in stake, but I can adjust again. I will live as I should as good citizen, but most Americans will cry loud, once the real changes will arrive, I wont cry.I will mind my own business and live with peace, and respect no metter who will be my next President. We choose, wy must respect,we must live with, and blame OUR selfs for beying naive, NOT HIM!!!He wants power and He will receive on golden plate from US. Just by voting for FISA , He prove, that He want power, spy on USA, take guns from as-disarm to control US.The ONE thing He will bring for sure, is discipline. He does, this so well, by manipulating US fro so long, that is nothing left to stop HIM.Remarcs from Jessie Jackson about Jews, are telling me, that Obama dont like them at all!!! Franakhan hate toward Jews, we will see how much He will do for them.
This is intresting how lazy we become, by arguing on Internet, calling each other names, disrespect each other, but not having any guts to do more, just sitting behing screen and gettig fat.

Wow, there it is again: “conversational hypnotism”, made to sound like dirty pool.

Believe it or not, in the reality outside this blog, this is known as simply, “argument” or to be grand, “persuasive speech”.

I note in passing that I was advised recently here in comments that facts do not constitute an argument.

Read that again: Facts do not constitute an argument.

The chock-fulla-facts comment I wrote and which was referred to was swiftly deleted along with the admonishment (you know, for continuity’s sake).

More Falsehoods and Insults Against America from the Pied Piper from Illinois
At http://www.barackobamatest.com/ there is a questionnaire to compare one’s views with those of Barack Hussein Obama. Once the person takes the test, that person will be rated with what All Americans said in the polls on the matters in question: energy, taxes, felon voting, second amendment, spending, defense, trade, health care, social values, justice, crime, labor.
I took the test and found out that I disagree with Barack Hussein Obama on 46 out of 48 questions. I am really disappointed. I expected 100% disagreement. The weird statistic is that once you find out how All Americans responded to the respective polls, there is a collective average of 73.7% of All Americans that do not agree with Barack Hussein Obama’s policies, yet the polls that rate who is leading in the Presidential race give Barack Hussein Obama a 50% plus lead over John McCain. How can it be that 73.7% of All Americans disagree with Barack Hussein Obama’s policies, yet more than 50% of All Americans think Barack Hussein Obama is the better candidate and want this person as their next President? Something is just not jiving with Americans.
As far as I am concerned John McCain should be our next President. The reason is simple John McCain in all of the Presidential debates because did not lie to the American public in them. John McCain did not insult The United States of American and its citizens.
Barack Hussein Obama stopped the playing/singing of the National Anthem and the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag at Londonderry, New Hampshire on October 17. The fact is that this person cannot take two to three minutes to show patriotism. This is another rebuff at Americans who honor their country. It is another excellent reason to stop him from becoming the next President.
Moreover, according to the Manchester Union Leader, many people in the audience thought that Barack Hussein Obama’s appearance was superb, indeed excellent. People who think with such positive adjectives cannot see through the muddy character that is Barack Hussein Obama.
Barack Hussein Obama gives the public the feeling that he is the oratorical genius. He is not. Practically nothing that comes out of his mouth can be considered as being logically and factually sound. He cannot speak without memorization and without a teleprompter. His spontaneous speaking is loaded with ‘”errr, uhs, ahh, let me think about that, I’ll … er, uh …” etc.
There is so much murky mud in Barack Hussein Obama’s background, political vita, speeches, and writings.
In a large majority of Barack Hussein Obama’s public appearances, from the Democratic Convention in 2004, through the Barack Hussein Obama Berlin Speech in July of 2008, to the Barack Hussein Obama Denver Acceptance Speech in August, 2008, and even the Presidential Debates, Barack Hussein Obama gives the viewer and the people in the audience that politics is show entertainment. Entertainment in shows is comedy and tragedy. The comedy with Barack Hussein Obama is that Barack Hussein Obama believes what Barack Hussein Obama says without knowing what Barack Hussein Obama says. The tragedy is that there are so many Americans (and people from other countries) who believe Barack Hussein Obama, because it is subtly suggested to them to think that Barack Hussein Obama is on a Godly mission. I have said it before and I shall say it again: If I had ever made such speeches in any one of my public speaking classes when I was a university student in America and in Europe, I would have flunked the course due to intellectual incapability. If I were to make such a (non-)quality lecture before my university students, undergraduate and graduate students, they would laugh me out of the classroom.
I come from the Northeast Kingdom and the Great North Woods. People in that original part of the United States of America believe in the truth. It is the truth that makes one free. Barack Hussein Obama has not got a good relationship with the truth. I have reviewed Barack Hussein Obama’s public statements and writings, if they were ever from his pen. Throughout, 70-plus percent of the writings and speeches are factually wrong. They are loaded with falsehoods. Totally, they are a reinterpretation of history that is revisionist to satisfy Barack Hussein Obama’s own personal goals, which are not a service to America. Moreover, serious questions should be asked concerning at least the following matters:

    - What is the content of his real, original (sealed) birth certificate?
    - Whether or not he travelled on an Indonesian passport to Pakistan in 1981?
    - Why he lied to the State of Illinois in 1991 when he registered as an attorney? He stated that he did not have any former names. It has been proven that when he was in Indonesia (or even before?) he was called Barry Soetoro and the fact is indicated on his school registration papers, which also lists him as a Muslim.
    - What do the adoption papers say about his being adopted by Lolo Soetoro?
    - Why documents relating to his university studies have been closed to the public?
    - Why he claims the authorship of papers and writings that he never wrote?
    - Why he never wrote one article for the Harvard Law Review when he was its president?
    - Why he has never really severed ties with ACORN and the 1960s Weather Underground Terrorists Group and its leader/co-founder Bill Ayers?
    - Why he has not released campaign contribution information concerning the origin of contributions from foreign countries, which is against the laws of the United States of America?
    - Why he never refers to the President of the United States of America, George W. Bush, with the official title of the office that he presently possesses. If he wants to be President, then he should at least respect the position and the people who hold it.
    - Why he has always supported his wife Michelle in her ever-occurring tirades against the United States of America, until approxi9mately two months ago, when she suddenly realized that Barack Hussein Obama might become President.
    - Why he does not want to be called by his complete (legal?) name, Barack Hussein Obama?
    - Why does he almost always refer to his mother’s ancestry, but practically never to his father’s? If he cannot find pride in his African roots, then he can never be proud as a President, and can never represent a proud nation, for the source of pride is in the complete individual.
    - The list could go on ad infinitum.
Of course, Presidential candidates should really know about domestic affairs, international relations, and the economy. But …
    1. Domestic affairs to Barack Hussein Obama are nothing more than organizing communities and stating lies to Illinois state government departments.
    2. His policies on international relations, he says, will be reliant on the advice of his Vice-Presidential running mate, Joe Biden, who as a United States Senator played up to the Russian negotiators in the 1970 Salt-2 Talks, unofficially telling them not to worry about position of the United States of America on Europe, because “…he (Joe Biden) personally and other members of the US Senate do not very much care about the Europeans’ concerns.” Furthermore, “…Biden and (Senator)Lugar said that, in the end of the day, they were not so much concerned with having a problem (with the basic human rights) of this or that citizen.” “In other words, the collocutors directly admitted that what is happening is a kind of a show, that they absolutely do not care for the fate of most so-called dissidents.”
The quotations are from the memo by Vadim V. Zagladin, deputy head of the International Department of the CPSU (Communist Party of the Soviet Union) Central Committee titled ON THE BASIC CONTENTS OF TALKS WITH THE US SENATORS, written between 9-20 April 1979 and originally classified as TOP SECRET by the Soviet Union. It has been declassified by the Russian government.)
    3. He presents himself to the American voter as the know-it-all economist. He is not. The facts are as follows:
Economic trends and market stimulations come in circular paths with ups and downs in the market economy. The rule is that if a presidential administration passes laws affecting the national economy, in the long range, it will take up to four to eight years for this legislation to become fully effective. Based upon this reality, the economic legislation passed by the George Bush Sr. presidential administration took effect under President Clinton, and those economic legislative bills passed by the Clinton administration came into effect during the George Bush Jr. presidential administration. Barack Hussein Obama is taking the citizenry as a fool when Barack Hussein Obama claims that only the Democrats are the real economic knows-it-all personalities, and that the Republicans do not know anything that has to do with national or international economics. President Clinton happened to be President when new, developing computer-based technologies created job opportunities. The economic impulse was its own motor in the New Economy. The Clinton Administration did not have much to do with its success. The economic upswing started to get out of control in approximately the last 18 months of the Clinton Administration. The full effect of the blown-up-economic-bubble burst of the New Economy came under the Presidency of George W. Bush Jr. Had George W. Bush Sr. been elected to a second term of office, he would have received credit for the estimated 23 million jobs.
Furthermore, the present-day international banking crisis was not caused by Republicans alone, particularly not by President George W. Bush alone. Barack Hussein Obama fails to accept the truth that the present banking crisis has its roots in the Presidency of James Earl Carter, a Democrat. In 1977 the Carter Administration passed legislation that forced banks to make bad loans to people who could not afford them. In 1998-99 Clinton pushed reform legislation that made Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae take on more risk. In 2004 and 2005 the Republicans tried to tighten up control on the two national lenders, but they were rebuffed by Barney Frank, a Democrat responsible for overseeing the banks and lending institutions. It is interesting to note that the Democrats have a majority in both houses and the two overseeing chairs are occupied by Representative Barney Frank (D) of Massachusetts, Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, and Senator Christopher Dodd (D) of Connecticut, Chairman of the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs. They are not calling for any special investigations into the cause of the banking crisis. Surely, if Republicans were chairing these committees, the Democrats would demand that they be relieved of their duties.
Republicans make mistakes. But they admit them and say that they can and will learn from them. Democrats take the opposite stance.
Barack Hussein Obama’s incapability to understand the truth convinces me that his economic prowess has no veracity. John McCain’s economic views, on the other hand, are exceedingly more convincing because they are concreted with logic.
My conclusions after reading and closely examining all of Barack Hussein Obama’s so-called great speeches, with Barack Hussein Obama’s so-called great oratory, Barack Hussein Obama’s so-called perfect answers and comments in the Presidential debates, and Barack Hussein Obama’s so-called genius solutions for the United States of America are three-fold:

    1. Barack Hussein Obama is a true charlatan.
    2. Barack Hussein Obama is an outright falsifier and historical revisionist.
    3. Barack Hussein Obama is the perfect present-day symbol of the following quotation: “The people want to be lied to, and if the lie is big enough, they will believe it.” (The source of the quotation is Josef Goebbels, Hitler’s Minister for Propaganda.)

Barack Hussein Obama is of one kind only. Barack Hussein Obama has only one principle: self-interest instead of the interests of the United States of America. Barack Hussein Obama has only one desire: to insult, dishonour, and spread falsehoods. Barack Hussein Obama has only one truth: don’t tell it. Barack Hussein Obama has only one -crisy: hypocrisy. Barack Hussein Obama has only one dice: cowardice to face up to the truth.

I know some Americans who are already considering renouncing their American citizenship should Barack Hussein Obama be elected President. I personally fear that the bottom line comes down to the fact that if Barack Hussein Obama becomes President of the United States of America, America and all Americans will be the losers. Should Barack Hussein Obama lose the election, then America and all Americans will become winners.

Perhaps a better epithet for Barack Hussein Obama is The Pied Piper from Illinois. If elected President, he will start the Great American Sell-Out, take everything way from Americans so that only -rats exist.

Wouldn’t you call Barack Hussein Obama a liar?
