My Stupid, Moronic, Lying Grandstanding…

Back stabbing, Race baiting, representative, Jim Clyburn, is jumping on the Democratic-fueled baseless claim that political rhetoric was to blame in the recent tragic shooting in Tucson, Arizona. Bear in mind, there is ZERO evidence to support the instantaneous claim that Sarah Palin and the Tea Party were to blame for this attack against the well respected and well regarded Congresswoman, Gabrielle Giffords.

Why all of the name calling? Because if my “esteemed” (cough, choke) Congressman has his way, we will lose our right to free speech, so I figure I better get it all out now. Yessiree, he thinks we need to have some “parameters” set forth, as this Post and Courier article makes clear:

U.S. Rep. Jim Clyburn, the third-ranking Democrat in Congress, said Sunday the deadly shooting in Arizona should get the country thinking about what’s acceptable to say publicly and when people should keep their mouths shut.

Clyburn said he thinks vitriol in public discourse led to a 22-year-old suspect opening fire Saturday at an event Democratic U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords held for her constituents in Tucson, Ariz. Six people were killed and 14 others were injured, including Giffords.

The shooting is cause for the country to rethink parameters on free speech, Clyburn said from his office, just blocks from the South Carolina Statehouse. He wants standards put in place to guarantee balanced media coverage with a reinstatement of the Fairness Doctrine, in addition to calling on elected officials and media pundits to use ‘better judgment.’

‘Free speech is as free speech does,’ he said. ‘You cannot yell ‘fire’ in a crowded theater and call it free speech and some of what I hear, and is being called free speech, is worse than that.’

Clyburn used as an example a comment made by Sharron Angle, an unsuccessful U.S. senatorial candidate in Nevada, who said the frustrated public may consider turning to ‘Second Amendment remedies’ for political disputes unless Congress changed course.

Clyburn said the man accused of shooting Giffords did just that.

‘He saw a Second Amendment remedy and that’s what occurred here and there is no way not to make that connection,’ Clyburn said. [snip] (Click HERE to read the rest, and some of the comments are pretty good, especially the one from “Superrog” who suggests to Clyburn, “Bite me.”.)

From where did this claim originate? Well, according to Politico, from a Democratic operative:

[snip]One veteran Democratic operative, who blames overheated rhetoric for the shooting, said President Barack Obama should carefully but forcefully do what his predecessor did.

“They need to deftly pin this on the tea partiers,” said the Democrat. “Just like the Clinton White House deftly pinned the Oklahoma City bombing on the militia and anti-government people.”

Another Democratic strategist said the similarity is that Tucson and Oklahoma City both “take place in a climate of bitter and virulent rhetoric against the government and Democrats.” [snip] (Click HERE to read the rest.)

With absolutely zero evidence, the Democrats endeavored, and have been fully assisted by the media, in propagating a complete fallacy about the actions of this madman in Tucson. They are, in essence, engaging in the very “virulent rhetoric” of which they are accusing Republicans and Tea Partiers. They don’t seem to see the irony – make that hypocrisy – of their actions. Or if they do, they just don’t care. And Clyburn with his race-baiting of the Clintons is particularly guilty of political rhetoric, oh hell – let’s call it what it was – a LIE, that had major consequences.

Indeed, these claims were made essentially from the outset, as Sheriff Paul Babeu makes clear in the following clip:

And why? Why would a sheriff make such an absurd claim about the motive? Why did the left seize on this tragic horrible situation in which six American citizens were gunned down, and fourteen others, including a US Congresswoman, were seriously injured? What in the world could be the logic here? Just to gain a political edge? Could they really be that callous, that repugnant, to use the deaths and grave injuries of others just to punish their political enemies?

It sure seems that way, especially considering the restraint many on the Left called for after Major Hasan opened fire on a number of his fellow soldiers, as Ed Morrissey wrote about this weekend. We were told not to assume it was because he was Muslim, that we didn’t know what was going on, all of the facts were not in, etc., etc. Well, turns out it WAS because he is Muslim, but yes, restraint until the facts are known is solid advice. It is a shame they were so quick to (incorrectly) judge this time around. But, wow, were they ever, including Paul Krugman of the New York Times:

Wow. Krugman has no idea who Loughner is, but that doesn’t stop him from making these wild accusations. The entire media has been a willing partner in putting forth this propaganda as to rationale for the shooting. How else can you classify it as anything other than propaganda? The print media, bloggers, and television networks have been all too willing to CREATE this rumor, and put it forth as fact, though everything that is coming out NOW clearly demonstrates how false their meme is.

That the Democrats, including my assholic representative, Jim Clyburn, and their willing accomplices, the media, are choosing to use this tragedy for political gain is simply obscene. It is callous, it is the absolute worst kind of grandstanding, and it is reprehensible. They should be ashamed of themselves, though I doubt that emotion can even filter through the sanctimony and political opportunism they are demonstrating repeatedly over this tragedy.

The focus should be on how this clearly deranged man passed his FBI background check, why his repeated death threats were not taken more seriously, and how the system failed, not trying to blame a group who had absolutely nothing to do with this heinous crime.

Moreover, we should concern ourselves with those fighting for their lives, and for the families of those fallen as a result of Loughner’s actions. That would be the appropriate response, not trying to curb our speech, or make up blame to heap on others, thus fueling the very vitriol that is being decried.

The Democrats, and the media, are way out of line on this one, and they need to rectify this situation immediately. They can begin with an apology to Sarah Palin, and maybe, just maybe instead of spouting off with nothing more than lies, rumor, and innuendo, they can just shut the hell up already. Talking to you, Rep. Clyburn.

  • Cindy, etc.

Oh, Rev. Amy—-tell us how you really  feel! LOL.
This is not a laughing matter, but I got a kick out of your passionate and well-placed rant! I love it!
You are SO correct about this, and Clyburn and the other Dems are making us all crazy with their hypocritical and deranged spoutings.
..But more than that, they’re making the situation MUCH more dangerous.
Like you say, they should shut-the-hell up already! Amen to that, Sister!

P.S. Honestlawyer has had alot of house/home/property cases and says that indeed, (as Palin’s staff has stated), those “targets’ on Palin’s map are surveyor’s symbols. Anyone who knows anything about homes/real estate, surveying etc. is familiar with them.

    Rev. Amy

Another excellent post!  The Democrats must believe that Americans are dumb.  In the age of social media, they are talking publicly about defaming the Tea Party, Sarah Palin, and other Reps by blaming them for this shooting.  Follow the “yellow brick road” to the madness of NBC/MSNBC, CBS, NY Times, WP, ABC, and the Dems.

The mass hysteria lit by the left will backfire.  At the end of the day, the public wants the political/media establishment to lead by example and not by fear to shut down free speech.  What does it say about their moral compass when the victims are still healing from this attack and they are scapegoating the innocent?

    Agree 100% about Clyburn….

  • Cindy, etc.

JustMe—so true! When there are  bright ones, their voices are muffled. The “best” are usually not allowed to be the loudest!

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

    :-D   Thanks, Cindy!

If your lovely hubby could provide a link to prove once and for all that those are surveyor marks, I would be forever grateful!

The thing is, these Dems are SO freakin’ hypocritical.  After the horrible things they said abt HILLARY, never even mind Sarah, the hateful rhetoric that was spewed forth by Obama’s followers – and is STILL being spewed forth – they are the LAST people to be trying to claim the high road, especially Clyburn.  What he did to the Clintons here in SC was absolutely unforgiveable.  He is a piece of work…

Anyway – glad you liked the rant!

  • felizarte

If they (Clyburn, MSM, et al) continue this absurdity of blaming Palin, they are only ensuring her election.

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

Thanks, EWard, and excellent comment.  You are so right – what DOES it say abt their moral compass?  I think it is clear, and many people are having their eyes opened by this blatant hypocrisy…

  • Hank

Didn’t then Senator Obama say this…“If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun,” Obama said in Philadelphia last night. “Because from what I understand, folks in Philly like a good brawl. I’ve seen Eagles fans.”

    Isn’t this Violent Rhetoric?

  • seattlegonz

Great post, Amy. Sad, sad times.

When they call for restraint and calm after a muslim terrorist acts, it’s so that people won’t express their outrage on innocent muslims. It’s almost as if they’re calling for someone to attack Palin (she’s not in congress so she’s not protected by these new laws protecting politicals.) and to have the cover of “it’s understandable” as a way to cloud the story.

I hope she orders her own protection.

  • donjo

I’m sure that everybody in America knows what it’s like to look through a surveyor’s transit.  GMAFB.  What more pathetic excuses can you make for Sarah Palin? I doubt if she had any influence on this nut job, but trying to explain these symbols as surveyors marks is simply ludicrous.

    RRRA another insightful article…
Just this morning I caught a Yahoo article and then read some of the comments by other readers.

    oops….misspelled–LOL…”HonestLAWYER”

The end game coming from the DC left is right out of the W Bush playbook.  They (the Bush team) would leak a story out on Friday or Sat and then fan out to the talk shows on Sunday and “quote” the story.  They did not make the outrageous claims.  They were just quoting a story.  By Monday every paper, radio and news station was running the WH officials “quoting” the story without mentioning they were “quoting” a story.  It appeared official but still gave them an element of plausible deniability.

Fast forward to spring 2012.  The Dems will wait for one single less than tame statement from a conservative candidate for even dog catcher and they will begin to “quote” stories to remind the press and the voters that a republican extremest shot up a crowd of innocent people in AZ.  The press will run with it without mentioning that it is a variation of a quote of a quote of a quote.  The Dems will put these twisted quotes in their TV ads and, since most of them get their news from Ads, not the newscasts, the voters will believe that is how it really happened back on January 8, 2011.

All the dem operatives are doing now is putting tv ad footage in the can for the next election.  They don’t care if it causes caos or shifts the globe off balance.  They are creating a crisis to later make quotes about.

Not only are these Dems disgraceful beyond belief, they are also unhinged and desperate.  They lost the election, their prezzy is unpopular so they’re worried about 2012.  So now, a descent into McCarthyism-like tactics.  Despicable.  They spew hate day in and day out and then blame a powerful woman for speaking articulately and graciously on the issues that matter to all of us as Americans.  Meantime no one holds our hate-mongering president responsible for all his violence inciting language.  Despicable, disgusting, deplorable.

Maybe most of America hasn’t looked through a transit, but most of America HAS looked at maps, and the symbol on the Palin map is almost identical for the symbol of a ‘benchmark’, and a benchmark is often used as a metaphor for a designated goal, like winning elections in targeted districts.

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

It is scary, and it is what I expected.  It really seems like their motive is to discredit her completely because they are SO afraid of her.  But while they are talking out of one side of their mouth (Clyburn) abt the use of violent rhetoric, they are engaging in same by blaming Palin for these deaths and attacks, which is inciting people against Palin.  Such freakin’ hypocrites – IMHO, that is…

Well, R3 Amy, time to flood the S.C. media, bloggers, politicos, friend and family mailboxes with Pigford facts again.  Old Jimmy and his ilk are doing the corrupt Dem dance as usual–unfairly attack and accuse others to keep the heat off their illegal DIM deeds.

What cowardly behavior from the very people who viciously attacked Hillary and Sarah and their supporters for a couple of years.  Hillary just goes about her business and lets these fools hang themselves with their own lies–she knows truth will out.  Sarah, the happy warrior and excellent political strategist, is letting the left look like the fools they are while planning her next move on behalf of America.  Two women, different styles, same sense of right.

2011 is my year to root for the women who root for us.

Considering the way the left is going after the right for all the so called “hate filled rhetoric,” I think that the words “liberal” and “hypocrite” should now become synonyms.

  • Talk2ThePaw

Rep. Laura Richardson of the 37th District in California wasted no time at all.  Within minutes I believe she called the police to have herself guarded.  She appeared on an LA TV news program annoucing that she was escorted to the studio by a police escort.  She even pulled the RACE CARD into this tragedy.  She stated that we shouldn’t be surprised at what happened as shown by the spiting upon and calling congresspersons the N word.  We know that those accusations made at the TeaParty have been proven a LIE, yet here in the midst of people dying this pile of dog poop glorifies her importance (immediate police guards and escorts) and manages to turn on the RACE CARD.  And yet again the MSM plays into this mongering of lies and platitudes by allowing this disgusting excuse of a human babbles on.

And very early in the day they mentioned that his favorite books, according to his website (before it was taken down), are Mein Kampf and the Communist Manifesto. It doesn’t take a genius to know that those books are NOT on favorite list of Tea Party members, but are on the favorites list of Progressives and ultra liberals.  Yet, with evidence to the contrary they continued to blame and accuse the Right and the Tea Party.   Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Ann Coulter said, “My only regret with Timothy McVeigh is he did not go to the New York Times building.”

Glenn Beck said he was “thinking about killing Michael Moore” with his bare hands.

Bill O’Reilly joked about “decapitating Dana Milbank.”

Fox News contributor Liz rotta linked Osama bin Laden to Barack Obama and said, ” And now we have what some are reading as a suggestion that somebody knock off Osama, uh Obama.  Well, both, if we could.”

Glenn Beck hoped out loud that Rep. Dennis Kucinich would burn to death.  He also played himself in a skit poisoning Nancy Pelosi.

I actually reported some of the threats and told Yahoo that should close the comment part of that article..
I was really apalled that any forum would let people post the threats against Pailin…

  • Cindy, etc.

JustMe—-Oh absolutely! We honor all guest requests here at Chez Bubba! :)

  • SeriouslySickOfObama

EXCELLENT RRRAmy!!  I meant the caps and BOLD to send you a SHOUT OUT for a great article, LOL!!

  • yttik

I currently have four emails in my inbox from the local Dem party that rely heavily on gun imagery, like, “we need to target these candidates, this is a high calibar event, we’re going to shoot him out of the water,” etc etc.

For as long as I can remember targeting words have been used in politics by both sides of the aisle. To suddenly single out Palin is nothing but hypocrisy, sexism, and hysteria.

:)   Thanks, SSoO!  You, too, RRRA congregant! :-D

  • AbigailAdams

RRR Amy,  Great post!  Thanks for this.

OT but relevant at times like this:  I sure miss Onofre’s Arm.

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

Now there’s a concept – actually doing the work they were sent to DC to do?  Yeah – I would love for that to actually happen instead of Clyburn, et, al, just making crap up to get their faces on tv, and to ratchet up the ire toward their political opponents.

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

Precisely, PODvet.  It is so disingenuous for the very same people who use that kind of language to then act like they are shocked – SHOCKED – that Palin actually pinpointed districts.  Wow…Again, so hypocritcal!

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

Thanks, AA – and where is OA?  Did I miss something?

Hey, oowawa – good luck to your Ducks!

  • AbigailAdams

I haven’t seen OA for a few days ever since he got completely fed up w/Gordo and said he was going to quit blogging here.  I hope it’s just a short respite.

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

Oh, dear.  I hope OA comes back, too.

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

Golly gee – guess what happens when the media decides to REPORT the news instead of making shit up for political gain?  Well, they discover that the lunatic gunman didn’t even vote in 2010, and is a registered Independent.  Huh – seems an apology is in order, don’t you think?  (I know, I know – I’m not holding my breath, either.)

  • oowawa

Oh, I thought by the wit and style that maybe “Guested” was Oa in disguise.  If you’re out there, Oa, come back so I don’t have to imagine things . . .

  • oowawa

I don’t know, Rev. Amy, it’s halftime and I’ve got this bad feeling in the pit of my stomach.  Maybe it’s only gas, and it’ll pass . . .

  • Guessed

    Quack!

  • AbigailAdams

That’s what GeoffC thought, too.  Is he right?

  • AbigailAdams

Maybe, just maybe, this over the top rabble rousing by the left will finally backfire on them.  Something’s gotta give at some point, doesn’t it?

  • West Virginia
  • oowawa

    I think so . . . that “quack” upstairs was unmistakable . . .

Oh, by the way, now that the ducks lost, I guess I’ll have to grit my teeth and suffer through another year of hearing how invincible the SEC is compared to all other conferences . . .

  • Docelder

I know. I was kind of neutral about the game until I watched it. After watching the Auburn players behavior, I was rooting on the inside for Oregon. But it really isn’t that surprising when you think about it. I don’t watch pro football anymore. College football was the last pure unadulterated soort I enjoyed to watch… was.

I know. I was really neutral about the game until I watched it. After watching the Auburn players behavior on the field, I wound up rooting for Oregon. I never felt good about the quarterback situation at Auburn to begin with. I don’t watch pro football anymore so I could care less when he someday plays against the dog fighting QB. College football was the last pure unadulterated sport I enjoyed to watch… was. I will probably just watch Oklahoma and Texas games now and stay away from the rest of them.

  • Cindy, etc.

oowawa—–sorry about the Ducks…but I must say that your absence for awhile did nothing but sharpen your wit! Funny as ever…
And btw, didn’t you like Boise State? Seems like they were really good this year, I think?

  • Justine

Clyburn would call you racist, Cindy, etc.  :)

  • Justine

So, sorry, Cindy, etc.  (Tried to delete previous error’d post, unsuccessfully.)

I was trying to make a joke:  “do not do English or Black Tea!!” would lead to a comment of “Clyburn would call you racist, ~~JustMe~~.”

Sorry, again.  (I’ll try to stop making dumb jokes…)

I wonder if people like donjo care about what they are saying or just want to make a few bucks to hang out at the local coffeeshop.  It’s unfortunate that we have people in society like donjo, Clyburn and many others who live through emotion instead of rational, reasoned thought.  Jumping to conclusions during the heat of a moment without any facts is based on emotion and it is very dangerous.

People get wrapped up in bitterness, anger, hate and it snowballs.  Look at how the liberals treated even one of their own-Hillary Clinton.  There are no boundaries or accountability.  This is what is wrong with liberalism and why they hate conservatives.  Conservatives want the little kiddies to grow up.

  • Cindy, etc.

JustMe—Y’all are so funny…..But I’d say with the way the world is now, our cups runneth over with Insani-tea! And I do NOT want a sip of that!

  • oowawa

Yes, Cindy–Boise State is my favorite football team.  Their coaching is superb, and they always seem to come up with a wonderful quarterback.  And best of all, they’re from somewhere outside of nowhere!  I am disheartened by the rumors that Coach Peterson is being courted to coach Stanford football . . . say it ain’t so, Coach!

    Taken from the MarketTicker:
Jared Loughner has been making death threats by phone to many people in Pima County including staff of Pima Community College, radio personalities and local bloggers. When Pima County Sheriff’s Office was informed, his deputies assured the victims that he was being well managed by the mental health system. It was also suggested that further pressing of charges would be unnecessary and probably cause more problems than it solved as Jared Loughner has a family member that works for Pima County. Amy Loughner is a Natural Resource specialist for the Pima County Parks and Recreation.
What’s your response to this Mr. Dupnik?  A bit of truth comes out, eh?  Exactly how many felonies did you decline to investigate and prosecute?   Are you going to slink away from the white-hot light of truth or will you “man up” and admit that your scurrilous allegations were disseminated simply to try to save your own hide from the entirely-appropriate wrath at the ballot box that is certain to ensue come next election?
The suspect didn’t just post one threat on an Internet forum and there wasn’t “just one” incident - it’s alleged here that he made multiple death threats against the staff of the college he was ejected from, radio personalities and local bloggers.
Each and every one of those threats was an offense and had just one of them been prosecuted it would have resulted in the suspect being blacklisted in the NICS database – and thus he would not have been able to buy the gun he shot the people in Tucson with.

  • Rabble Rouser Rev. Amy

I’m going to try not to take the whole “rabble rousing” thing personally.  ;)
