Stanley Kurtz: Something New Here. During his first campaign for the Illinois state senate in 1995-96, Barack Obama was a member of, and was endorsed by, the far-left New Party. Obama’s New Party ties give the lie to his claim to be a post-partisan, post-ideological pragmatist. Particularly in Chicago, the New Party functioned as the electoral arm of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN). So despite repeated attempts to distance himself from ACORN, Obama’s New Party ties raise disturbing questions about his links to those proudly militant leftists. The media’s near-total silence on this critical element of Obama’s past is deeply irresponsible. The ACORN doesn't fall far from the Marxists' tree, apparently.

Actually, the New Yorker did a very long one in mid-July titled “How Chicago Shaped Obama” … it was by Ryan Lizza and was mostly overlooked because there was so much noise about the cover caricature at the time.

The article, which was discussed for only one day for the most part, because the cover picture overwhelmed discussion forums, was so balanced that Obama supporters were complaining mightily while non-supporters felt it was too kind.

The New Yorker recently endorsed Obama, and I think they normally don’t do endorsements.

And this month, I think, CNN did a video report, shown now on the Breitbart page, and the video page is titled, “CNN Finds Extensive Ties …[with] …Ayers.”

A few months ago they did the Alice Palmer story, so CNN HAS been, unlike MSNBC, doing as much vetting as has been done for Joe the Plumber

Anderson Cooper did one recently too, pointing out the ties were deeper than the NY Times implied and than Obama had said.

Cooper was very surprised, as a strong Obama supporter. But these things won’t matter to most.

I do not for one microsecond believe Chicago shaped Obama. That is ridiculous. If anything Obama reshaped Chicago. Obama went to Chicago because he saw a perfect fit. Crooks recognise each other a half continent away.

Okay. Today on NQ I’ve read that Newsweek and now NPR have done pieces on Chicago-style politics. Am I dreaming? This must be a$$-covering because the polls have tightened and surely they wouldn’t want to start telling us the truth at this late stage in the race and jeopardize The One’s chances. BUT could it be that something bad has leaked and they’ve gotten wind of it? Let’s face it, they’ve all been marching in lockstep for Obama until now. And we’ve learned, if we didn’t know before, what a tight-knit, chummy circle the media are. I wonder what’s up?

I guess we’ll just have to sit tight and see what happens, but why do I feel like an animal who senses the earthquake before it happens? Maybe it’s just hope. But something’s strange.

This is the same Colin Powell who showed slides of the “mobile laboratories” in Iraq. This is the same Colin Powell who covered up the My Lai massacre in Vietnam. This is the same Colin Powell who went along to get promotions and to remain in the Bush administration “good graces”.

He says himself that Soetoro was his “stepfather” and that he attended a predominantly Muslim school.Surely his own words can be cross-referenced with the information that has been learned.

That’s the really scary thing about BO, he’s just the dumb front man, you can’t take him or his idiot sidekick Joe Biden seriously. But BO’s clearly not going to be the one calling the shots.
People like Pelosi, Reid and Kerry probably think they’re going to be in charge, but there just as dumb as BO/Biden.
