powell endorses obama, and supporters pee their pants with glee

So, let me get this straight. Obama and his followers attacked Hillary endlessly for her vote on the Iraq resolution. Obama touted his superior judgment in speaking out against the war (remember that speech he gave in Chicago? Yea, me neither.)

Obama supporters blogged endlessly about Hillary and blamed HER for the war. They were vicious and vile. Hillary suffered in the primary for that vote. (people forgetting that Kerry and 75% of the Senate voted Yes also…)

But Obama pounded that point in the debates, over and over. She voted for the war, and he didn’t. (even managing to fool his supporters into believing he actually HAD a vote at the time)

So, today, Powell comes out and endorses Obama and the Obama media and bloggers are going apeshit. Blathering on and on about how great this is for Obama. Crucial endorsement…what a coup….a ringing endorsement!

With eloquence and humility, Former Secretary of State and retired General Colin Powell just provided a ringing endosement of Barack Obama as President for the United States.

In a major slap in the face to his “friend” John McCain, Colin Powell today on Meet the Press has endorsed Barack Obama. While the GOP will poo-poo this as a big who cares and that nobody votes based on endorsements — it is actually not.

There are many more, as you can imagine. I don’t need to link to them all. Just flip on any news channel, other than FOX.

So, let me get this straight – Hillary Clinton in voting for the Iraq Resolution, based in large part, due to the evidence that Powell provided, is portrayed as the devil, lacking judgment, and unworthy of being President.
BUT, Colin Powell, this guy: U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell Addresses the U.N. Security Council

This guy, who convinced millions of skeptics in America that we were in danger, and needed to go to war with Iraq? And now, his endorsement is the icing on the cake, the crown jewel, a slap in the face to McCain?
“In a speech here on Tuesday, Senator Barack Obama castigated political leaders of both parties for failing to vigorously challenge the administration’s Iraq policy in 2002, declaring: “The American people weren’t just failed by a president, they were failed by much of Washington. Obama said members of Congress should be held accountable for voting “to give president the open-ended authority to wage war that he uses to this day.”
“This election is about ending the Iraq War…”

So, had Hillary not listened to Colin Powell back in February, 2003, do you think she would be the Presidential nominee right now? (My guess is yes.)

Colin Powell, in his endorsement today said he was supporting Obama for the following reasons:

~ he has both style and substance,” – so he is too sexy for his shirt?

~ his questionable pick of Sarah Palin, not ready to lead – ok, sexist? She has more experience than Obama….

~ his party’s “narrow” focus on Obama’s associations with Bill Ayers – how can anyone not be concerned about why Obama feels so comfortable associating with so many people like Ayers, Bernadine Dorhn, Rezko, Wright, Meeks, etc.?

~ McCain painting Obama as a Muslim – McCain never called Obama a Muslim, he even defended him.

Powell denounced Republican tactics that he said were insulting not only to to Obama but also to Muslims. “The really right answer is what if he is?” Powell said, praising the contributions of millions of Muslim citizens to American society. – We agree Powell, why don’t you tell THAT to Obama? Why don’t you tell Obama that his Fight the Smears web site is offensive and insulting to Muslims.

~ “Over the last seven weeks, the approach of the Republican Party has become narrower and narrower.” – you mean when the media started painting McCain and everyone who breaths, not supporting Obama, a racist?

On top of this, Powell said that he is still a Republican, and will not campaign for Obama. So, he is voting for Obama, but not leaving the Republican party, that he now finds *narrow*?

~ “We need a president with transformational qualities.” – what the hell does that even mean? Is he Houdini? A yogi? A cast member from Heroes?

And how does Obama’s respond to his new endorsement?

“Well, Colin Powell seems to trust my judgment; that’s why he endorsed me.”

But, can we trust Powell’s judgment?

Hillary did, and look where it got her. Look how Obama and his supporters treated her, for trusting Powell’s judgment.

I respect Powell’s service to his country. And I think he is a good man. But, for this love fest that is now happening, between Obama and his supporters and Powell just seems so hypocritical to me.

His camp criticized Clinton endlessly for her vote on the war. But, Powell sold us that war.

I think this endorsement is what it is, *brotherly love*. (can I say that, or am I racist now? Oh, wait. I already am.. I’m not voting for Obama. I now I am racist for assuming that the African American Republican is supporting the African American Democrat because of skin color. Oh, that’s right, it’s because Obama is *transformational*. )

We have seen these *ringing endorsements before. Everytime Obama is in trouble, he trots out a new *surprise endoresement*. Obama is losing ground in the polls. Joe the Plumber is kicking Obama’s ass. So, out comes Powell.

McCain responds:

Appearing on “FOX News Sunday,” McCain responded to the news of Powell’s endorsement by saying he still admires and respects his old friend.

“Well, I have always admired and respected General Powell. We are longtime friends. This doesn’t come as a surprise. But I am also very pleased to have the endorsement of four former secretaries of state … and I am proud to have the endorsement of well over 200 retired army generals and admirals,” McCain said, noting the support offered by Henry Kissinger, James Baker, Lawrence Eagleburger and Alexander Haig.

Like I said before, poor Odumbo just had a tough week, so he needs some celebrity endorsement therapy.

From what I’m hearing, there’s going to be some bad poll news coming in Monday morning for Obama. They desperately need to change the narrative.

So, let’s talk about celebrity endorsements and how much I raised last month. Ignore poll momentum, and the little man behind the curtain too. Yeah, that’s the ticket!

  • SHV

A war criminal endorses Obama and the ‘Obots love it??? I guess it is another confirmation of Obama’s personality.

    • socalannie

      Hahaha! Well said!!!

    • propertius

I guess Powell found those WMDs, after all – they were in Bill Ayers’s basement all along.

        HAHAHA…good one!

    • sayitisntso

      SHV,

Thanks! Now it makes sense. CP is bailing out of the Bush Administration before the impeachment proceedings take place. That, plus the money he’s been paid since the primaries!

    • Carol

I guess it is another confirmation of Obama’s personality.

No, it is confirmation of the lack of intelligence of Obama’s sheep.

    • nancysabet

I believe that Powell’s endorsment mean nothing. Colin Powell turns out to be a persistent liar just like the president he served so “well” for so long (Bush).
I heard part of Powell’s announcement about endorsing Obama.
It could have been a much shorter and more honest speech; Powell should just have said, “I’m endorsing Barack Obama because he’s black.”
But he didn’t; he went over the top in saying that Sarah Palin was wrong to say Obama was a terrorist … Palin never said anything of the sort.
What she said is that Obama pals around with an unapologetic terrorist, Bill Ayers — and she asks WHY Obama does that.
So, first Powell makes up a lie and says Palin is accusing Obama of being a terrorist, and then Powell bashes Palin for the factoid HE had made up.
Colin Powell deserves NO respect from anyone any more.
He is a liar and a thug … only a thug would make up a lie with which to bash Sarah Palin and excuse his race-based endorsement of Obama.
Colin Powell is a racist lying thug just like the man he now hopes will be president.
Maybe Powell hopes to spend some more years groveling and serving another lying president (Obama).
Powell lied to the UN , to America and to the world; he’s very comfortable in what he sees as his role in politics.

    • kretankooper

The War in Iraq was just. Your war criminal rhetoric is childish.

  • 30yrdem-not any more

I hope some of the media will point out how Powell lied to America. Glad that chain is around Obama’s neck not McCain’s.

    • candy

Yeah right, dream on. The media will now print collective revisionist history about Powell to support The One.

  • Seattle Moss

Powell has no credibility because everyone really knows why he endorsed Obama.

    • Patti

Oh we all know but the minute you point it out, they roll out RACIST. I responded to a post on another site I belong too. After a long rant as to why it wasnt a good endorsement. I said ” One black man supporting another”

Interesting enough it was in a McCain group.. Some are just bat shit crazy..

Lying Powell was always in the tank for Obama. They just waited until they needed him to deflect the plumber. Sorry Barky, you can spin all you want but Powell is JUST as responsible for American troop deaths as Bush.

PUMAS don`t buy it. Peddle your BS to someone stupid enough to fall for it.

    • elenore

Who cares if PUMAS buy it??? As if PUMAS have one drop of importance to any of this?? Powell is very respected-he did endorse the iraq war, but he also did it reluctantly and you know he got out of Bush’s administration after that…he could not face the lies any longer.
Your diary makes no sense at all…you are reaching for what??? What is the connection to Obama of Hillary and Powell…and their war vote? Nothing-its just another bogus attack on Obama for the sole reason of attacking him. you all have nothing else left.

      • PhxNickD

but he also did it reluctantly

He stood in front of the UN and told the world that Iraq was a threat to us and had WMD. “reluctantly” is not an acceptable excuse – Powell and Bush should both be tried and executed for crimes against humanity!

I do not buy the BS either that he will be important with many of the veterans, we have McCain for that and our support is not wavering because another AA endorsed 0bama

      • don tufts

hey bot go check out army times and take a long walk off of a high cliff.

      • Jeffhas

but he also did it reluctantly and you know he got out of Bush’s administration after that…he could not face the lies any longer.

Trying to rewrite history?… Powell wanted to be SOS for another term… Bush didn’t take his offer to stay on, and pushed him out in favor of Condi.

Powell even states he was fired: http://www.rawstory.com/news/2006/Video_Powell_says_he_was_fired_1001.html

        You make me laugh…

    • MEchelle Hates America!

Bless you Harp and American Girl!

Powell was the evil pitch man and pitch he did.

Powell and Oblowme are more dangerous than plague carrying vermin.

Oblowme befriends bombers and Powell sells US war.

      McCain suffered for his country.

      McCain/Palin = Reform ’08

    • BernieO

A young man who I think will probably hold his nose and vote for Obama had this reaction to Powell’s endorsement:

“So now he endorses Obama after it’s mostly decided anyway! Does this guy even have a pair? Biggest military wuss ever.”

I thought that was priceless. Powell is a suck up who goes along to get ahead rather than stand up for what is right. No wonder he likes Obama. According to Morning Joe Powell also admitted that Obama was not experienced in foreign policy but that he had good advisors, yet the choice of Palin bothered him because of her lack of experience! Great logic.

Powell is another example of a false image created by the media. He is nothing like the hero they portray him to be.

      PLEASE READ:
      Powell shrugged off murdering civilians:
      http://www.consortiumnews.com/2000/121700c.html

He also lied to Federal investigators about Iran Contra (Martha Stewart went to the slammer for doing that, but then again, rules are different for women):
      http://dir.salon.com/story/politics2000/feature/2000/03/20/powell/print.html

We are down the rabbit hole folks! The media thinks the Clintons are sleazy crooks and Powell, Obama, and at one time even W are gods. It’s frightening.

  • Miller

Powell doesn’t matter. He lost our respect a long time ago. His endorsement is worthless.

    • http://www.ushistory.org/Declaration/document/index.htm IndiefromMA

      ditto…

      It’s less than worthless!!

    • Carol

Powell lost the respect of millions of Americans. He lost my respect when he lied to the American people knowing full well at the time he was lying. Powell is trying to regain some credibility.

His endorsement of Obama is not a good thing for Obama.

      • Rocky Mountain High

        >His endorsement of Obama is not a good thing for Obama.<

How could it? Any ‘thinking’ American will see through it, that Colin Powell and Obama share nothing in common politically, except the fact that they are both black. It’s a racial thing. With all the racist comments being thrown around, how can anyone not see that he’s only supporting him because of race. Brother to Brother. Obama spent his entire campaign going on ad nauseum about him being against the Iraq War, which Colin Powell suggested. Colin Powell is angry at George Bush, so his endorsement is more about that than because he agrees with Obama’s policies. Oh Please, how transparent was that?

People will see through that, and it will create even more polarization, which will work against Obama.

Then they’ll say, he had every courtesy. If Obama wasn’t black, and was any white man – he’d be lynched by the media, instead he has been given virtually a free ride by the MSM, he’s been given more money than any other Presidential candidate ever in history, he has Hollywood supporting him, he has 95% of the Black vote, he’s got the youth, and a bunch of loyal democrats, some bitter retired General’s endorsement, and he still won’t win! Just goes to show ya, money can’t buy elections or power!

Geraldine Ferrara was right, he’s the Affirmative action candidate, everyone has lowered the bar, to accept him because he speaks so well. He has managed to hypnotize his crowds, but not everyone is buying it. He’s lied about Acorn, he’s lied about Ayers, he’s lied about Jeremiah Wright, he’s lied about Rezko, and he’s lying to everyone about where he intends to take America. Trusting him with the keys to the country is like trusting a teenager with your car keys, you know there’s going to be at least one accident or fender bender so why do it when you can prevent it, never knowing if it will be the fatal crash?

        • lusitania

Let’s not forget that he also lied about public financing, FISA, money payments his campaign made to ACORN and thats probably just the tip of the iceberg.

  • Tricia

Powell said Rev Wright was ok and that goes on in Black Church what a racist he is. Also his Bio shows he had bad grade and was picked because they US need to make it look good (look it up)

    American Girl,
    Great post!
This is pure speculation on my part but-
I suspect Sen Obama promised Powell something (perhaps freedom from future prosecution for Powell’s actions/statements leading up to the Iraq invasion in return for his endorsement?)

Perhaps Powell planned on endorsing Obama for this reason right from the get go however decided to wait until it got really close to the election so by that time the ‘kool aid’ the Obama supporters drank could work its way completely through their systems so that they would “F O R G E T’ Powell’s role leading up to the Iraq invasion?

What excuse does the msm have for fawning all over this endorsement? If Sen Obama wins- will he have history textbooks revised so that Powell’s role in the Iraq invasion could be buried deep in the text-in teeny print on a footnote somewhere?

Hey…maybe Bill Ayers contacts in education could help facilitate this?

  • Sarracuda In So Cal

Powell went to the UN and said there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, so yeah, he LIED to the American people. Also does anyone buy for a second that he is “so concerned about Sarah Palin’s lack of experience” really Colin, it took you TWO MONTHS to come to that realization, if he had said something in September, maybe I would buy his crap but now, come on, we all know why he endorsed Obama and it has nothing to do with Sarah Palin. I always knew he was in the tank for Obama, I don’t know what took him so long.

    • http://JohnMcCain.com Galt, Master Thrall of Planet Triskelion

I always knew he was in the tank for Obama, I don’t know what took him so long.

His endorsement was in the pocket and is now coming out due to The Precious’ sinking poll numbers and the impending shitstorm from the GOP.

I hope everyone is ready for a tough couple of weeks. I’m not clear how far they will push the race and riot narrative. Probably not much further but they could get desperate, or really more desperate as Biden fired a race card salvo today.

      • PhxNickD

reeks of the same tactics he pulled in the primary – looses Kentucky by 31 and pulls out edwards the next day. didn’t do much did it.

we should all start asking the question who will be dragging 0bama over the finish line this time – 605 million dollars and a ruined Republican party does not seem to be getting him to far. it is kind of pathetic he has to work so hard for this, this election was practically going to be given to the democrats this year.

I am not bothered in the least as far as the Powell endorsement. I think it’s race based and it’s silly.

This is also nothing new. Everytime Obama was down, he pulled out a fakey changey pocket superdelegate endorsement.

This is O’s thang ya’ll. You remember this. Kind of funny how suddenly “endorsements” are a big deal again? Newspapers, etc. Plus crowd size is important again, as well contribution amounts. The media and the O-camp are a broken record. We’ve seen this all before.

It’s all bogus. A sign Obama is losing. Also, I think the polls are not to be trusted. They are probably making it look like it’s close, just to show Obama with a big lead come voting time even though McCain is ahead. It’s all bull. The polls have been pro-dem and way off for many elections.

A Powell endorsement = scared Obama camp.

    FROM THE NATION:

When Powell went before the UN Security Council in February 2003, reporters treated his accusations against Saddam Hussein as if akin to tablets passed down by Moses from the mountaintop. A study by Gilbert Cranberg, former editorial page editor of the Des Moines Register, discovered a nearly perfect storm of wide-eyed credulity in coverage of the speech. We heard and read of “a massive array of evidence,” “a detailed and persuasive case,” “a powerful case,” “a sober, factual case,” “an overwhelming case,” “a compelling case,” “the strong, credible and persuasive case,” “a persuasive, detailed accumulation of information,” “a smoking fusillade…a persuasive case for anyone who is still persuadable,” “an accumulation of painstakingly gathered and analyzed evidence,” so that “only the most gullible and wishful thinking souls can now deny that Iraq is harboring and hiding weapons of mass destruction.” “The skeptics asked for proof; they now have it.” “Powell’s evidence,” we were told, was “overwhelming,” “ironclad…incontrovertible,” “succinct and damning…the case is closed.” “Colin Powell delivered the goods on Saddam Hussein.” “If there was any doubt that Hussein…needs to be…stripped of his chemical and biological capabilities, Powell put it to rest.”

We are truly through the looking glass.

  • katmandu

Powell is no progressive. Powell is often criticized for his role in covering up the MyLai Massacre. A few simple Googles will give you tons of info on the subject. He also was blamed by Sy Hersh for defending the political powers that be when Gulf War vets complained of illnesses that have become known as Gulf War Syndrome. Hersh accused him of deserting his men on this issue. And a week ago Powell took the stand as a character witness for Ted Stevens, saying Stevens’ character was sterling. I wonder what the liberal blogs think about that?

I can’t blame Powell for lashing out at the Republicans — he was conned (though he should have displayed better judgment). However, McCain did not con him. It was Bush. But his endorsement of Obama is suspect. Finally, he said positive things about Obama’s economic program. He has no expertise in the matter. In fact, the entire endorsement seems like it was written for him by the Obama campaign.

    • Leisa

That was my impression as well Kat.

American Girl, great post. You summarized exactly why this endorsement should not be considered a big coup for Obama. Powell has been waiting in the wings, ready to be called when Obama needed him for some time now…

To me, the timing is just an indication that the powers that be in the Obama camp think that he needs more propping up.

      • elenore

what is good about this post?? if Powell’s endorsement means nothing, why write about it? why don’t you just ignore it? Do you think that Obama is looking at this endorsement as the be all and end all for his campaign? are you kidding? its just another endorsement…and one respected by the candidate.
the majority of voters in this country feel better about Obama than McCain….period. get used to it. and if Hillary was in the race she would do about the same as Obama…your candidate did not win, she was not victimized as you keep saying – that is so lame and pathetic – she ran a crappy campaign from the get-go. Obama won the nomination fair and square.
        this is such bull shit.
by the way, Larry…where are the white tapes????

Hey elenorrrrrrrrre wait like everyone else and it’s your guy thats running &

        • jjsmoof

“Obama won the nomination fair and square.” LMFAO! How much do u get paid for that line?

        • jdona

Well, if you think that winning fair and square includes stacking the caucuses with out of state voters who couldn’t legally vote, shutting the doors to keep the opponents supporters from casting a vote, threatening the opponents voters with violence, and tampering with ballots then I guess Obama did win fair and square. The problem is we don’t think that is fair and square. We call that cheating. We don’t think cheaters should prosper. We want the candidate who did win fair and square, and who also won the popular vote to be the legitimate nominee and that is Hillary Clinton. We don’t support Obama is the legitimate anything. And we won’t support him in this election and if he does manage to win the White House through all the Acorn fraudulent votes he will still not be the legitimate nominee or the legitimate President. And if this travesty does occur, you can bet your bottom dollar we will do everything in our power to make sure his illegal activities don’t get buried and is used to impeach his lying, cheating sorry ass.

Sarah Palin went after Ted Stevens for his corruption in AK. Powell is on the wrong side on that dispute too.

    • PamFlorida

Powell wasn’t conned by BushCo, he mad that they made him the fall guy in front of the UN. I remember watching him make the case for war with Iraq and it struck me at the time that he didn’t believe a word he was saying. Powell gave in to Bush against his concience and sense of honor. Not long afterwards, he resigned and dropped out of sight.
Sadly, Powell was once perfectly poised to run for president and would have won in a landslide. I think he passed up the opportunity because he regretted becoming a party tool and it damaged his personal sense of honor.
He would have been a great president.

      • Tristan

Agreed. I think this endorsement is more about payback to the Republicans for hanging him out to dry than anything else. And probably Obama promised him a cabinet post too, like Richardson.

  • KarenG

Let’s not forget Biden voted for the war too and
the Obamacrats immediately said it was no longer a issue with them. It was all about getting rid of Hillary.

I just wonder…now is Powell a RACIST for not supporting his friend MCCAIN…oh no…that is ok for him to do that because an African American can support an African American . Who are they kidding …Powell is supporting Obama because he is black. If Powell were any kind of a PATRIOTIC AMERICAN he would vote for the person who is best for the country because of his record and experience not because of his color…..SHAME ON YOU COLIN POWELL, YOU HAVE LET DOWN AMERICA AND YOU HAVE LET DOWN THE TROOPS

Powell let down the troops when he testified beforethe UN that Sadaam had WMD. Let’s just be clear. By lying he and the bush administration, but america in a bad situation, and by not questioning it people that voted for the war did the same. Now they don’t want to finish what they started People that want out of Iraq do not understand the how dangerous destabiliation of a country you had no right to attack really is. It’s just one more example of how short sighted people in the is country are. You leave that country the way it is not way it is now and Iran will come in and take over, and i blame ever member of congress and ever member of team bush for starting something we can’t get out of. Obama the arrogent experience asshole that he is, can kiss my ass, cause there isn’t crap he can do Iran would laugh at his ass and then help Pakastan Kick it should he try to come over there and flex is mini muscles, powell of all people should know it. Thaty’s why i said he must have drank the Koolaid, cause his endorsement makes absolutely no sense for what we need done right now. At first i didn’t care about obama because i knew he couldn’t solve problem now.I have been watching him enough to know just how inept and illogical he and his supporters are. Obama is trying to get people to trust his judgement, but if i knew ever since about age 12 that who you picked as your friends was important then why the heck could a grown man figure it out Powel may not be but i am sick of stupid presidents. That the only reason i’m voting for mccain.

  • Susan1968

I’m not going to bash Powell. I like him.

However, I don;t see how ground-shaking this endorsement is when 95% of AA voters support Obama.

It’s really hard to see Powell as a 5-Star General when it’s clear he’s voting as an African American.

And are independent voters so in love with Powell that this endorsement will seal the deal for “The One?”

    I don’t think so.

Kristol: Colin Powell Will Endorse Obama
Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol repeated Thursday that sources have told him they expect former Secretary of State Colin Powell will endorse Barack Obama , though the former secretary of state has denied reports that he will speak at the Democratic National Convention.

Kristol: Colin Powell Will Endorse Obama

This is a race-based and a power move by Powell–ride His Eminenence’s coattails into a big position in the White House. Adding Powell to my ****list.

every day i am newly amazed at how “out there” the democtrats obamacrats are.

First the war is bad, and anyone who voted against the war is disqualified because of poor judgement, but a guy who never even voted on the war resolution gets proprs for and builds his whole fairytale around having opposed it because he made the most courageous decision of his life to give a speech against the war at a code pink rally in hyde park.

Then you get one of the guys who got us into the mess we are now cleaning up to endorse you and um…it just defies logic.

I can’t even tell what his positions are anymore.

and Frankly i don’t care anymore either.

Colin Powel endorses Obama, claims he has seen incontrovertible proof of WMDs a Tran$formational Presidency.

Well, I think most free tinker will do just fine for the next 4 years. This country always correct itself back to the center after it tilt too much to one side.

I was just having good long laugh at the end of last year thinking that all those who voted for Bush got what they paid for, hi Ohio, Pen, MS, etc. I didn’t vote for Bush in 2000, 2004, I am doing quiet well and quilt free.

This time, if Obama gets elected, I am sure that I will have another long hard laugh in 4 years. Those who are foolish enough to vote for him will likely be the one who suffer. They will paid for their vote in the end.

Biden’s comments indicating that undecideds can;t bring themselves to vote for an African American is HORRIBLE.

Need we remind Biden that Obama needed the Superdelegates to beat Hillary?

Hillary is a centrist leaning left on domestic issues.

McCain is a centrist leaning right on domestic issues.

And the majority of Dems & Repubs are centrist.

Obama is far left. This is why he can’t break into a big lead.

My Mom (70s) is a good example:

    Today she said to me:

“Do you really think Obama will try to make nicey-nice with our enemies if he wins?”

She gets it. She’s concerned with his left wing politics. Not his race.

  • Anne Marie

Well, it appears that “birds of a feather flock together.”

Powell lied to an entire nation, embroiling us in an unnecessay, improbable, and costly war. Four years later, the Senate got blamed. Obama proudly claimed that he “didn’t vote for the war,” although he forgot to mention that he wasn’t eligible to at the time. Now, the man who “orchestrated” the war endorses the man who “didn’t vote for the war,” but who used it as a political weapon throughout the primaries.Powell claimed the war was “necessary,” and Obama claimed he would “pull the troops out immediately.” Liars…both.

Now…Powell is a Republican and a soldier. Yet, he turns his back on his party and a fellow soldier, noted for his patriotism and courage. So…the Republican general is an opportunist who rides the political gravy train to success and then denounces his party and his loyalties. Sounds like these guys have been reading from the same training manual “How to Advance Your Personal Agenda While S***ing on Everyone Who Gets in the Way of Your Ambition.”

Both of these men can have a mutual “love fest,” each pleased to be admired by the other. However, the American electorate should open its eyes to the hypocrisy, lies, and propaganda being “spun” in this election. Blatant liars never make good friends…or leaders.

Powell’s an opportunistic windbag, he’s always been just that.

    The proof:
He supported George W. Bush – because it helped his career. He lied us into the Iraq War – because it helped his career. He supports Obama – ’cause he’s looking for a job and even if he loses, this will help his career. No surprise at all, only surprised it took him so long.

OT: THIS IS HILARIOUS, from Howard Stern. Stern’s reporter asks Obama supporters why they support him. Responses? Well, no reason really.

THEN he attributes McCain’s positions to Obama and they all agree with McCain’s positions when they think they are Obama’s AND they think Sarah Palin will do a great job as OBAMA’S VP! I’m not kidding.

Had Colin Powell tendered in his resignation as Secretary of State, that alone would have signaled to the world and this country that the basis for going to war with Iraq was a fiction created by the Bush Administration.

Joe Wilson went to Niger and found that Iraq had not attempted to garner yellow cake from Niger. When the Bush administration continued to “sell” that line, Joe Wilson put his ass on the line and wrote and Op-Ed piece in the now defunct NYT to call this administration out on its’ lies. His wife lost her convert status and her career as a result.

What did Colin Powell do? Not a damn thing. Even after he left the Bush administration, his former chief of staff, Larry Wilkerson went on every show and spoke to every news magazine to defend his boss and the untenable situation he had been put in.

What did Colin Powell do? Cut off all contact with Larry Wilkerson and threw his ass under the bus. Larry Wilkerson thought the world of Colin Powell. There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t have done for him and this is how Colin Powell repayed his loyalty; cutting him off entirely.

You know, we held the Nuremburg Trials and convicted men who were “just following orders”. We argued at the time that such “logic” did not offer a free pass to being morally unaccountable.

Now look where we are today! Colin Powell can go to hell!!

Obama is trying to divert attention with this endorsement. Powell has been in the tank for Obama and he has been advising him throughout the campaign. Am sure he has a cabinet post ready for him as Sec. of Defense or something like that. He wanted the media to stop talking about Joe the Plumber.

  • http://democratfreeblog.wordpress.com/2008/10/19/otieno-the-wise-man-by-barack-h-obama-the-library-of-congress-in-dc/ Donna

I lost any respect for Colin Powell when he lied to the UN to garner support for Bush’s war.

I’m actually glad he endorsed Obama. While the party is praising it, they’ve forgotten in these few short years how they flamed him for his lies.

The party has forgotten, not the voters.

Meanwhile, McCain enjoys the endorsement of 600 retired military leaders. 300 of which are generals and admirals, and 300 which are high ranking officers. So, McCain’s military leader endorsements outweigh Obama’s by 599 (honest men) to 1 (liar).

  • Mercedes

In spite of any good qualities they may have, I have never LIKED Colin Powell, Jimmy Carter, Oprah Winfrey, and I cannot stand that phoney fraud, Obamessiah. So does this make me a racist? I don’t think so.

I positively like Cynthia McKinney (I don’t care what anybody says about her). Stephanie Tubbs Jones was a delightful, wonderful person, although I didn’t know anything about her until after she died. Maya Angelou becomes more admirable everytime I hear her. Martin Luther King stands head and shoulders above just about every public figure in his generation. Sarah Palin is a remarkable lady who would probably be a fine president.

The Clintons are in a league by themselves.

To me one of the most important qualities of any leader is their genuineness. I’ll listen to and respect anyone who is honest and who cares about what they are doing and who gives other people the same respect to which they themselves are entitled. Self-righteousness and arrogance are the most unattractive personal qualities in my book.

Colin Powell is apparently where he wants to be, standing in the shadows of the establishment pillars. He is nowhere as far as I am concerned.

  • Karma

I waited to see if Powell would offer any more evidence for the Iraq war. When watching Powell and Tenet’s reactions it was clear they were lying and what they presented was extremely shallow.

The news reports have Powell gathering information late into the night before this presentation which was a huge red flag as well.

He let the Bush Admin use him. Plain and simple.

Powell knew Saddam didn’t have the weapons and he knew his UN presentation was bunk.

He fought the first Iraq war in which they lobbed Scud missles. Then Bush and Powell are trying to claim they suddenly have the technology to get a nuke here in 45 minutes after being under sanctions.

It was bs….all of it! And Powell knew.

Liberal Christian from the Coalition of Churches should now all run to vote for Obama for president. He just saved them thousands if not millions of dollars in expenses in Kenya. Now thanks to Obama’s cousin and through Obama’s financial help, Christian activity in Kenya will be reduced to mostly moving pastors, ministers, churches and entire congregations to neighboring countries. And lucky after those moving expenses are over, no more expenses in Kenya to have to account for.

The whole endorsement was bizarre. Powell says he doesn’t want two more republican SCOTUS justices. He accuses McCain of running a biased and dishonorable campaign. He says Obama is right about Iraq? When Obama voted to cut funding for the troops who were already deployed there? And he says the Ayers relationship is no big deal?

Powell would have gone through the security clearance screening many times during his career, and he knows that Obama would fail to get even a basic “secret” clearance with his long term relationships with crooks and domestic terrorists.

Powell also has to know about the planned Ft. Dix attack that only failed because Ayers’s grunts blew themselves up while building the bombs. It’s just bizarre….

  • jimbob

Hillary voted for the war resolution because she knew what Bill knew: Saddam was a threat to regional and world peace with or without WMDs. All loyal Democrats voted to back the President because Saddam was out of control and could no longer be contained by the security arrangements. Further, Saddam had enriched himself during the years since the Gulf War by means of the Oil-for-Food program. He also corrupted a number of British politicians and left wing political agitators. It’s not beyond the realm of possibility that Obama (and other American lefties) got a piece of that action, given his association with some players like Rezko, the Syrian rat et al.

  • Cat in NJ

I saw “W” last night. It was actually sympathetic to Bush’s veritable incompetence, while painting Cheney as the antichrist. Oliver Stone’s assessment of these two is probably accurate. But Condi Rice, who has for better or worse remained loyal to this administration, is without a doubt a brilliant woman. She was portrayed in the movie as a dimwitted kiss-ass, while Colin Powell is the lone hero on the scene, a courageous, reliable victim bullied by Cheney, Rumsfeld, etc. Could be the case, and he did eventually resign, but his time to protest his boss’s duplicitous orders would have been before he appeared before the U.N. An earlier resignation by Powell may have sent very strong signals to those who voted for the war. Only then would he have done the right thing. Powell, Oliver Stone … more cogs in the monstrous O machine.

    • Andrew

Biden and Pelozi should be ecstatic and happy for all Catholics in the U.S. and they should get their Archbishop and Bishops to write them commendations for their courageous leader of the Democratic Party has helped the Catholic church be expelled from Kenya very very soon.

And they have to be jubilant for those Kenyan Catholics who will stay in Kenya for how freely and safely they will be able to worship now in Kenya.

If Biden and Pelozi do communion they would not need confession in years and years for the good deed that they have done for Kenyan Catholics and Catholics in America. Having Catholics expelled from Kenya would mean more Catholics in the neighboring countries.

And also the more Catholics that face martyrdom the more souls in heaven for God to care for them.

The Pope now should send Barack Obama a letter thanking him personally for the 1 million gift he gave Odinga. The Pope should be grateful since the Bishop in Kenya now can return to the Vatican and live there for a good while. And now the Pope will get more spare time since he would not have to pray for the Catholic churches in Kenya.

Democrats should make a flier asking Catholics to vote confidently for Obama in gratitude for delivering Kenya to the Muslims.

Obama claimed his judgment is superior to Hillary’s because of an anti-war speech he might have made before he became a member of the US Senate. But now Obama has accepted an endorsement from the original pro-war Bush team. And how much more weight did Powell’s lies at the UN carry in the rush to war as compared to Hillary’s vote?

Generally speaking, I think Colin fell off his horse, hit his head on Iraq, and now dictates his endorsement. At a time when Barack Obama is being viewed and exposed as a loser — a socialist/communist, for which he has had plenty of close frank mentoring; the general has really bent over to expose, well, Colin is now just an ass. Obama’s politics are so radically liberal the general is still right now stooped over — maybe this is a kiss-and-tell for both Obama and his Colin. Colin-asscopy anyone?

On a more serious note, vote John McCain. America is still a great country. If any can do it, we can encourage ourselves to do a whole lot better with free enterprise and capitalism. Let’s reject socialism and Obama.

Poll finds Americans reject redistribution of wealth as suggested by Barack Hussein Obama:

PRINCETON, NJ — When given a choice about how government should address the numerous economic difficulties facing today’s consumer, Americans overwhelmingly — by 84% to 13% — prefer that the government focus on improving overall economic conditions and the jobs situation in the United States as opposed to taking steps to distribute wealth more evenly among Americans.

    Down with Barack Obama!

Obama’s Secret Campaign Cash: Has $63 Million Flowed from Foreign Sources?
    Sunday, October 19, 2008 6:28 PM
By: Kenneth R. Timmerman Article Font Size

As Barack Obama reaped a stunning $150 million in campaign donations in September, bringing his total to more than $600 million, new questions have arisen about the source of his amazing funding.
By Obama’s own admission, more than half of his contributions have come from small donors giving $200 or less. But unlike John McCain’s campaign, Obama won’t release the names of these donors.
A Newsmax canvass of disclosed Obama campaign donors shows worrisome anomalies, including outright violations of federal election laws.
For example, Obama has numerous donors who have contributed well over the $4,600 federal election limit.
Many of these donors have never been contacted by the Obama campaign to refund the excess amounts to them.
And more than 37,000 Obama donations appear to be conversions of foreign currency.
According to a Newsmax analysis of the Obama campaign data before the latest figures were released, potential foreign currency donations could range anywhere from $12.8 million to a stunning $63 million in all. With the addition of $150 million raised in September, this amount could be much more.
When asked by Newsmax about excess contributions, Obama spokesman Ben LaBolt said that contributions already identified as excess had been returned and that those the campaign was just learning about — either through news accounts or from the Federal Election Commission — “will be returned.”
“Every campaign faces the challenge of screening and reviewing its contributions,” LaBolt said. “And we have been aggressive about taking every available step to make sure our contributions are appropriate, updating our systems when necessary.”

Powell endorsed Obama becuase he is half black.

  • Lizzie Struthers

This guy, who convinced millions of skeptics in America that we were in danger

He never convinced me. You’d have to be an empty headed moron to be duped by that. Hans Blix gave unequivocal reports. Villepin got standing ovations. Powell was clearly under a lot of pressure to lie.

And he knew he was lying. He was tormented. He didn’t know the way out. But he finally figured it out and got out.

But the one thing we take home from that is: Colin Powell is willing to lie and he’s not too bad at it. His prepared remarks today – especially about Sarah Palin – were further proof of this.

It’s when you start to peel away the layers that you discern a regular pattern, said Ken Blackwell of Obama and his people. I wonder if they said that about our friend Shickelgruber too?

  • ugo

The truth is that Gen. Powell endorsement, means one more vote for Obama. Really how much dose it matter?

One thing is still there, your vote. Who are you voting for?

You vote matters, you have one vote, and Gen. Powell has only one vote, he is saving his skin: it is sad though.

Your vote is equally important, do not let anyone tell you otherwise. Make sure you vote.

Re: Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf Endorses McCain – Media hardly makes a peep by JudyAnn · Oct 19, 08 – 8:08 PM

Schwarzkopf, who with McCain in 2004 was openly critical of then-Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld over his handling of the Iraq war, said in a statement the Arizona senator “has served our country with honor in war and in peace.”

“He has demonstrated the type of courageous leadership our country sorely needs at this time. For that reason, he has my complete support,” he said.

McCain is in a tight race for the Republican presidential nomination, but most polls show him leading the pack following his wins in New Hampshire and South Carolina. He and his rivals are in Florida Wednesday ahead of the state’s primary on Tuesday.

It is not clear whether Schwarzkopf will campaign with McCain, as former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger has done.

McCain thanked Schwarzkopf in a statement, saying, “General Norman Schwarzkopf’s distinguished lifetime of service and uncommon devotion to our nation has earned him the respect and admiration of the American people. I am honored by his support.”

Ok, here is the problem with the whole Colon Powell endorsement that the media is trying to tout as some great feat for Obama. Colon Powell was the Keynote speaker at the Republican Convention in 2000 and endorsed George W. Bush for President over Al Gore who had been the VP for 8 years and had a wealth of Experience, but yet he endorsed Bush that had absolutely no foreign policy experience. You see where that got us 8 years later. It pains me as an AA to say this but this is clearly based on race, if he did not endorse Obama he would have been Uncle Tomed out of town like the rest of the Black Leaders that decided that they had a mind of their own and chose to endorse the best person for the job not the person that had the same skin color as them. I like Colon Powell. I continue to be proud of his accomplishments, however, he knowingly chose the lesser candidate last time and he has done it again. Pity.

    • candy

Well, at least Powell is nothing but consistent…he consistently endorses the less qualified empty-suit for Presidency. First Bush over Gore, now the Precious over the veteran.

  • Retired

We all have heard of so-called “white guilt,” of course. But Powell is a saddening study of “black guilt,” a successful African-American who has somehow grown ashamed of his own personal success based largely on the merit of his performance.

With Powell’s latest endorsement, I cannot help but think of the day that Adm. Bobby Rae Inman stood on the steps of the Pentagon and told the world that he would not accept an appointment as Secretary of Defense because of an imagined “Clinton conspiracy.” No one took him seriously, of course, and he subsequently faded into oblivion.

Farewell, Gen. Powell. You had your moments of brilliance. They will be overshadowed by this moment of self-delusion.

Hello All, I didn’t mean to just jump in here, but I’ve been visiting on and off for some time now. I’m a Hillary Supporter who is just disgusted with this entire election season. I am more so disgusted by the fact that because I am an AA people just instantly assume that I am for Obama they come up to me in the grocery store and even at my son’s school and start holding conversatins with me about Obama winning and how exciting it is. I never fail to put them in their place for assuming that I would vote for him. I am the only one out of all of my friends that is a McCain supporter, it’s a jungle out here.

      Hi Kim!

From the articles to the personal experiences from the posters, this board has been a great resource.

It was shocking to read the stories throughout the months and reassuring that other Dems saw the empty suit for who he is.

I hope you stick around and post more…even just to vent.

I’m not voting for McCain Kim, but I like you am an African-American who is very cold on the idea of Obama and will NOT be casting a vote for him in any capacity.

If he were running for dog catcher he wouldn’t get my vote.

I know many of my friends (who are also African-American) aren’t voting for him. And their friends and some of their family members.

With all the cheating going on, I’m not so sure that “dictator in waiting” won’t pull this off, but I hold out a hope that there are enough of us who will not pull the lever for him like he assumes we will.

George W. Bush knowingly and repeatedly lied to Congress and to the American people, to play on our fears and gain support for a totally unnecessary invasion that has resulted in the death of 4,185 American soldiers and left thousands more permanently disabled. Vital intelligence that would have cast serious doubt on his argument for war with Iraq was deliberately withheld from Congress, from the American people, from the United Nations, and even from Colin Powell himself, while other “evidence” supporting his case was fabricated.

No one needs to demonize George W. Bush. Even with White House interference into efforts to investigate–interference that has itself likely been illegal–it’s become abundantly clear that the man has committed high crimes and misdemeanors.

The right persecuted Bill Clinton endlessly over a ridiculous sexual indiscretion. They demeaned Al Gore, who was one of the only prominant politicians to go on record about the foolishness of an invasion of Iraq. They lied about John Kerry, who wanted to get us out, discrediting a decorated American war veteran and questioning his patriotism. Now they’re attempting to destroy Barack Obama with yet another campaign of lies and deceipt. Meanwhile, they give George W. Bush a pass for lies and duplicity that have killed people and put our future at peril.

Powell is a good soldier, a wise man, and an honorable American–far superior to the Commander in Chief he served. His opinion means something.

Hell will freeze solid before I consider voting for McCain/Palin. The republicans need a time out to think things over. They need to spend some time thinking about those very American values they’re always talking about.

Wish this country had the luxery of being so childish, but its not time for that. When you have financial crisis and a war going on you stop thinking about teaching people lessons because if you don’t get your economy back on track your country will fail. Or do you care nothing about that? My brother went to the fair this weekend and said the price of food has gone up dramatically, but you want to teach the republicans a lesson. If the DNC hd been smart enough to elect the best person for the job, i would say the same thing you did. But since they didn’t and have put a the top of their ticked George III. I will be voting republican. Why? Because when i’m foraging for food i don’t have time to be witty. Figure it out for youself if you have the maturity to do so.

What you’ll be voting for are another 4 years of the same republican economic policies that put us in this situation to begin with. I’ve been around long enough to have figured out that doing the same thing generally produces the same results.

It’s not a matter of teaching republicans a lesson. It’s a matter of ceasing to do what obviously isn’t working for the majority of Americans. As near as I can tell, John McCain has no coherent new economic plan. He just keeps telling us what the republicans have been telling us since the days of Ronald Reagan. Meantime the deficits break records year after year, the national debt soars, the wars multiply, the infrastructure decays, our industrial base errodes, our dependence on obsolete energy sources grows, a new generation of young Americans fail to even finish high school, and we walk into an uncertain future looking backwards instead of ahead.

We’re already 8 years into the 21st Century. We need a new vision and a new approach, or our days of greatness are going to be only a memory.

We don’t need to make the rich richer. We need to invest public money in our collective future. Alternative energy could fuel an American Renaissance. It would give us abundant, cheap, inexhaustable power–freeing us from a $700 billion a year addiction to foreign supplies while simultaneously addressing environmental and climate change issues. Getting there would give us hundreds of thousands of new jobs. A better educated work force is essential. A 21st Century infrastructure is essential.

The republicans seem to lack the necessary vision to make all of that happen. They ridicule the very concept of Hope and Change. They’re myopic. They’re living in the past, and their blindness will keep us there.

ON THE ECONOMY,TELL ME:DO WE HAVE TO BLAME THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION AND THE REPUBLICAN PARTY FOR SOME BAD PRACTICES THAT LED US INTO THE MESS AND SUPPORTED WIDELY BY DEMOCRATS.FREDDIE AND FANNY IN MORGAGE MALPRACTICES WERE SUPPORTED BY DEMS,THE ACCORN GROUP ,IN ”THE FIRST HOME BUYERS” MALPRACTICES,WERE SUPPORTED BY THE SAME DEMOCRATS.THEY CAN’T HAVE IT BOTH WAY

It’s the blame white folks syndrome. If you’re white you get double or triple the blame unless you bow your head to BO;s “good judgment”. But if you’re not white but helped incite this Iraq War, then it’s because the white folks made you do it…

THERE WAS NO GUN POINTED ON HIM WHEN HE WAS TRYING TO CONVINCE THE REST OF THE WORLD ON HOW DANGEROUS IRAK WAS.SUGGESTING TODAY THAT HE WAS DOING ALL THAT UNDER PRESSURE,NULLIFIES THE WHOLE PERSON OF POWELL.WE NEED TO HAVE KIND OF COORDINATION IN WHAT WE ARE SAYING WITH WHAT WE ARE DOING.AFTER SELLING THE WAR,HE IS TRYING TO TELL US TODAY THAT HE WAS AGAINST IT ,AND THAT HE WAS PRESSED TO DO IT.WHERE WAS THE INTEGRITY OF THE MAN?

  • BeyondWords

In my opinion Powell just made himself look like an ass on the world stage. Mr.I-bet-my-career-Anthrax endorses Mr.Hey-I-Gave-This-Great-Antiwar-Speech-On-Iraq. Nice.

I never did understand why Pelosi went to that terrorist den Syria after she won her speaker position. Now that i see her involvement and support for Obrainfart it’s definitely made me wonder. Anyone else?

I’ll be interested in hearing what Joe Wilson has to say about this little event. I don’t see it as very important simply because of his lying his head off about the war that Precious and his supporters have an issue with.

    • Karma

      That would be interesting.

So much about this election makes little sense.

But yeah it REALLY doesn’t make sense that one of the people that lied to get the US into this war is now championed as having sound judgment by endorsing Obama.

That’s just another indicator to me that if Obama gets in we’re going to have four more years of Bush Jr.

  • lisa-ny

Drudge this morning, has Obama leading by 5, taken from the average of all the polls.
The race is tightening and the appointed One knows it. He can’t seal the deal , so he goes to his WMD closet and pulls out Powell.
Despite what the MSM endorsement of Powell is, there’s a lot of people who will see through this transparency.
For the candidate who didn’t want to make
“race” an issue, this doesn’t help your cause annointed One.

So,the LIAR has come out of his hidey hole to endorse obama, another LIAR? I guess birds of a feather really do stick together.

  • lizpolaris

This weekend’s moment of ironic hilarity came to me during discussion of the Powell endorsement at a friend’s dinner party. After I commented that my estimation of Powell disappeared after his ‘performance’ at the UN, I was roundly criticized by an Obot who declared that ‘everyone knows’ that Powell was misled and screwed over by the Bush/Cheney administration. Right – I guess the Secretary of State didn’t have access to the same intelligence information as reporters at the time who published the competing information in frikken newspapers across the country. No, I’m sure his access to information was quite restricted.

Not to mention, like everyone on this thread, where was this guest’s vitriolic defense when it was Hillary Clinton who was misled?

  • ACPD

Have you been following the lawsuit to get a copy of Obama’s birth certificate? He may not be eligible to run for the presidency:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pR0pKUs-mmI&feature=email

On Colin Powell, I think he is a tragic figure. He seems to have started out being honorable and a good soldier, but over time he appears to have lost his bearing. I agree that what he is doing is out of a sense of loyalty and guilt for blacks. He and other black leaders have been under tremendous pressure (according to reports) from the Obama campaign to demonstrate their solidarity with “their race” by supporting Obama. (An equation that isn’t completely honest or accurate.) As a result, we saw John Lewis’s painful switch during the primaries and now Powell’s defection to the Democrats. That is called racism and coercion and does not speak well of Obama, his policies, his ethics, or his values.

  • PaddyJ

Just heard Colin – who the hell pronounces that “colon” anyway? – say that he found Barky to have the requisite “steadiness” and “good judgement” to be POTUS.
I mean, are you kidding me? Down is up? This is a bad joke.
I want to see someone ask Mr. Honesty-war-enabler when he appears, as he will 24/7, on the MSM to please cite examples of aforementioned “steadiness” and “good judgement”. Should be interesting to hear that big one.
This is just another Axelweasel ploy to try and discourage the Repub. voting base.
Powell has been promised some quid pro quo for this. Bet on it. Maybe Sec. of State or even VP after Smokin’ Joe drops out?

Colin Powell is ingloriously wrong at excruciating times. He backed Bush for President, then was the stooge for Bush’s Iraq lie. Now, in order to redeem his previous faux paus, he goes to the opposite spectrum and backs Obama. Showing that it is possible to dramatically wrong not just once, but twice in one’s lifetime.

  • http://none Jessie Britton

This has to be a joke. Is this not the guy who lied to the congress about the weapons of mass destruction. Is this not the guy who went before the United Nations and lied about the weapons of mass destruction. Is this not the guy who day after day in press conferences assured the nation and then lied to us about the weapons of mass destruction. Did not his lies lead us to the Irag war for all the wrong reasons. Did not his lies indirectly lead to the death of 4,000 + of our military. What does all this say about his judgement. Now throw in Biden who voted for the war and you have an interesting group of hawks working with and supporting the dove. With thinking people Colin Powell’s endorsement is about as worthless as a bucket full of spit.

  • DancingOpossum

Powell is very respected-he did endorse the iraq war, but he also did it reluctantly and you know he got out of Bush’s administration after that…he could not face the lies any longer.

As someone who opposed this war with every fiber of my being from day one, unlike Obama who has never quite decided where he stands on it, I call BULLSHIT.

Powell is NOT respected, by anyone: The antiwar (real antiwar) side loathes him for lying his ass off to the UN and the world to kiss Bush ass. The neocons hate him for snivelling up to the antiwar side–after it was too late, of course, and the damage was done. The respect Powell once enjoyed among a wide swathe of people (me, I never admired the My Lai Liar) is long gone. This is a pathetic attempt to put himself back in the limelight.

As for not being able to stand the lies any longer: How fucking convenient. But sorry, a little too late for the American soldiers and Iraqi people whose blood is on this war criminal’s hands.

  • Annie Oakley

American girl, that’s the first thing I thought of when I heard of Powell’s endorsement of Obama. Obama said Hillary’s judgement was poor because she didn’t oppose the war. But Colin Powell may have as much responsibility in the Iraq War as anyone, because he supplied the credibility that Bush didn’t have. Bush couldn’t “make the case” for war, and Powell went to the UN and made it for him. It seems to me that Powell’s judgement is much more suspect than Hillary’s. Powell’s bad judgement was reaffirmed when he backed Obama.

This morning on Bloomberg they were already claiming Obama had gotten a bump in the polls off this endorsement. Sheesh.

  • hootnannie

I don’t think Hillary would now be the nominee had she voted against the war. The DNC was determined from the start to put their far-left puppet into the nominee position, and they did it by any means necessary. Regardless of how exalted, Powell is, IMO, just another black guy for Obama. We’re down to the wire, Bobo is stagnating in the polls, and, FINALLY, here comes the great general’s endorsement! Bobo would have been a lot smarter to try to parley the Joe-the-Plumber situation into an opportunity to discuss middle-class/small-business problems. Instead, he attacks an everyman symbol and alienates even more working Americans. And Powell’s rep just went down the drain with any small hope Bobo had left.

  • Debalee

Yes, Colin “The Weasel” Powell the same man who gave the sickening presentation at the United Nations in 2003 to endorse the invasion of Iraq has now endorsed Obama. When I heard him present his bald faced lies that day in 2003 I became enraged and have stayed that way ever since. Only now I’m enraged with Team Obama and their snake oil salesman front man of the same name. Team Obama and the disgusting MSM are cooing over this development. How could they forget or neglect to mention what Powell did to bolster the Bush Administration’s plans to invade Iraq?? Where is the outrage over what Powell did? Rush Limbaugh is right. It’s all about race. Powell is endorsing Obama because they’re both of African descent. I’ll bet you could put all the African Americans in this country who will vote for McCain in one school bus, nah, make that one car. This election is very nauseating to a lot of non-blacks in this country. I for one am getting sick and tired of the over use of all minorities in the media whether it’s what passes for news, or advertisements. They are a small percentage of our country’s population. Why do they now have so much leverage?

  • maggieb

Obama is half black, we expected for Powell to support him, Gee ya don’t think it’s a race thing do ya? Yeah they will call me racist, but I am not it’s just the facts period. Houston had a mayor who was voted in only because he was black. And he even got bus’s out to go pick up Blacks, ( Like Obama is paying Acorn to do) Only this was the worst Mayor Houston ever had and he almost bankrupted the city.

  • maggieb

Obama was NOT in the Senate so he was unable to vote up on down on the war in Iraq, And he only voted Present in the Ill. Senate

colin’s excuses for the endorsement are just flat bogus – omg, they think we are that stupid. Dudes, it’s a black thing – hello. I didn’t realize he was a sexist pig, that kinda caught me off guard. What a jackass.
