News that may surprise you

The media in general would have you believe that Governor Palin does not talk with reporters (usually with the suggestion that she’s clueless or worse). CBS News’ Scott Conroy writes in his CBS blog From The Road rather differently that among the four candidates it is actually Governor Palin who is the most accessible. Surprise, surprise, he even notes that she is confident, clear, and precise.

Scott writes that Governor Palin has increasingly approached reporters during the past two weeks, even having to be almost dragged away by her staff while in Colorado Springs. “Though she often turns the “mainstream media” into a punching bag on the stump, Palin clearly enjoys interacting with reporters.”

By quick comparison, Senator Biden hasn’t met with reporters for over a month. Not that that hasn’t slowed down his continuing stream of gaffs. Senators’ Obama and McCain have not spoken with reporters since September. Of the three, I’d love to hear Senator Obama queried by a group of serious, investigative reporters.

Cross-posted in my blog, The Independent View.

While this is certainly true – and good luck getting the Democrats to answers questions on anything these days – let’s be clear that Palin has only become more accessible in the past two weeks.

      • lisa in va

Thanks Josey, once you stack it up this way, its very clear to see why she would want to avoid the media.

Reminds me of a very old joke. At the Pearly gates, all who wanted to enter had to answer a question by St Peter. There was a whole line of men. He asked the how much was 4+4, or how to spell cat, or what was the first book of the old Testiment. Finally he gets to a woman in line & she is thinking, well, this is going to be easy. And he asks her “How do you spell Czechoslovakia”?

        I’m seeing a double standard.

        • JozefAL

And when Obama gets to the Pearly Gates, and answers incorrectly, he’ll call St Peter a racist.*

*Either that, or he’ll ask what the correct answer is and say “well, that’s what I really meant to say”.

      • AnninCA

His questions were, indeed, very nasty in tone and content. Several were no-win questions.

However, she should have been prepared better. You can ALWAYS just laugh at a reporter and deflect with a simple: “That’s for the voters to decide,” when asked about “Are you qualified?”

You can say something like, “I’ve given my resume to the people already. Let’s not bore them again with that. Now, it’s up to them.”

She let him corner her. Katie Couric’s was even worse.

        • lisa in va

Its a double standard Ann, and you know it.

Better prepared? NOTHING she could have said or done would have changed either of those interviews. Gibson and Couric had an agenda…to make her look like a fool.

Lets take your logic (she could have been better prepared), down a different path. Okay, a college student is walking back to her dorm after a night time study session. She is on the sidewalk, on college grounds & a man jumps out from behind the bush, drags her behind it & assaults her. With your logic, she should have been better prepared and not walked at night, had a body guard with her, had a black belt in karate and heaven forbid that she was outside at night!

But you know what? Palin has guts and class and will never say she was the victim of anything. Unlike losers Gibson and Couric.

          • AnninCA

She’ll improve fast. Nobody can make you look bad without your participation.

            • McHope

              You certainly do prove that.

              • Rah-Rah

                ditto.

          • R2D2

lisa in va, I don’t think your analogy works, but I understand what you are saying. Ann has a good point. Palin was unprepared to respond, and I blame the McCain camp for not doing their job in preparing her. Palin had not faced the kind of interview that the media poses when their agenda is to help the opposition. Hillary understood her position and was able to do a much better job. We see the difference when Olberman interviewed Hillary or O’Reilly. Nothing is better than experience. Oh boy, the “experience” word again.

          • Northwest rain

SEE — this An trolls keeps reframing — the topic — and thankfull R2D2 caught AninCA sneaky double speak.

seems an Obama interview always amounts to an act journalistic fellatio but on Gov Pallin they have to play the “hard-hitting” investigative reporters and attempt to journalistically sodomize her before the national viewing audience. Watch PBS if you want fair and balanced unless Gwen is on.

There was discussion yesterday about the Whitey Tape, that McCain has discouraged its release.

Any info that is material to a voter’s decision-making should be available to the public. If there is a Whitey Tape voters have the right to know the philosophy of one of the most important people in a candidate’s life – his spouse.

      • Soldier of Christ

I guess once again Mccain is being too nice and that niceness is killing him in the polls. To be the President you must want it at any cost. Look at Acorn. Obama has used fraud to get the presidency, so if Mccain doesn’t want to use the whitey tape, then say Hi to President Obama, unfortunately.

        • lark

you must want it at any cost.

Never. A candidate for president must lead by example. The country should be first. If he looses by holding something that would inflame the racial animosity to the over the top level then he looses and the racist win.

We can suffer Obama and the destruction of our country the same way the Germans and the European suffered Hitler and other nations suffer their dictators.

Obama will begin a decline that may last 40 years min. until a new way of life comes to be. For our way of life has degenerated through the influence of immorality. Obama is an example of how immorality accepts a liar as a qualified leader. Life is made of joys and of suffering. America has have its joyous years, and now it may be in for quite a good round of suffering years.

          • Pennsylvania goes RED!

We can suffer Obama and the destruction of our country the same way the Germans and the European suffered Hitler and other nations suffer their dictators.

And who delivered the Europeans – the Anglo-American alliance. If America goes down, who will deliver us – Godfather Putin?

lark, I agree with much of your post, however I am not ready to concede that a n0bama victory is a done deal.

            • lark

I don’t either. The electoral map process is always a very interesting and surprising process. I believe McCain has higher probability of winning the states that he needs to win.

              • McHope

                Remember!!!…..
It is documented that Odinga’s campaign strategy, in conjunction with Obama’s advice, was to INFLATE POLL numbers to predict a win, in order to be able to cry foul when Odinga did not win.

Kenya Tests New Style of Politicking

campaigns here are for the first time making widespread use of opinion polls, …

Even though polls have consistently shown Odinga in the lead, Kenyans are developing a healthy skepticism of such predictions.

“We are wondering, where are those opinions being collected?” said Moses Mathula, 27, who was selling jeans in a sprawling outdoor market at the edge of the city. “Where are people getting this information? Because they are not coming to us.”

This was reported during the Kenyan elections. We now know, without dispute, they rigged the poll intentionally and proceeded to commit mass muder to further Odinga’s political ambition. They used murder and violence as blackmail- stunning.

                • oowawa

McHope, this is most interesting. The Odinga connection is to me the most frightening skeleton in Obama’s packed closet. Too bad that the MSM has no interest in exploring this or anything else that might offend The Messiah.

                  • lark

Then later, the rush to collect journalistic prizes and fame will have them all eating at the same trough.

Guys even the NY Times is covering the ACORN mess today. Yep it really is news.

NQ knew it all along. Now lets keep the pressure on!

          • Northwest rain

NYT – didn’t McCain throw NYT off the bus??

That was hysterically funny — we speak of Obama throwing people UNDER the bus and McCain tossed NYT off the bus.

I’ve stopped reading the US MSM — too often they report stories that have been reported and researched on NQ and other top blogs. Very often the European media is ahead of the US media as well.

A long time ago I took a short workshop in writing press releases — our teacher (a Public relations expert/specialist) told us that newspaper reporters were often lazy or newspapers rarely hired enough reports to cover stories. If we could learn to write solid (packed with info — using short sentences) we would increase the probability of getting our message printed.

If it seems like all you see in newspapers are press releases — you’re probably correct.

Good for Palin — she can multi-task and she learns quickly.

      • wodiej

I agree…it’s a racist remark made by Michelle Obama and voters should know about it.

I am not convinced McCain is suppressing it’s release because he is too nice. I think he is trying to avert riots etc. when Obama loses.

    • John Smith

I would not worry Obama will not get elected. McCain has very good numbers in OH. PA is also going to go for McCain.

Just look at this article. The national polls reflect what ever they reflect. Just make sure you go out to vote.

Its meaningless. McCain is going to win this hands down.

I saw the Headlines today that #1.Obama was campaigning in rural Virginia?!? and #2.He is 10 points ahead in the National Polls.

I thought he suspended his campaign because of his gravely ill granny, does she live in rural Virginia now?

I also thought the polls were tightening, how can he be ten points ahead today?

One more thing, they also reported, on the front page, that the early voting is reversing the trend that has always favored GOP, and it is Obama way ahead. Should I conclude that the states are telling us the numbers already, and if so is there a Publicized Tally Board for all to see?

          • Pennsylvania goes RED!

One more thing, they also reported, on the front page, that the early voting is reversing the trend that has always favored GOP, and it is Obama way ahead.

Republicans do not allow their vote to be suppressed.

Republicans raise their children to VOTE! It is a rite of passage for Republican parents to register this children to vote on their 18th (or 21st) birthday. Most Democrat parents sort of leave voter registration up to their kids.

So I agree that the Republicans will be out in force to vote!

          • Zimeeisme

The early voting IS going to show more Dems…they are all drinking the Kool-aid and going to vote early because they are in such a tizzy to vote for “The One”. Republicans are known for voting late anyway…even those who will participate in the early voting. Obama is using the early voting to bump his campaign up…just another strategy.

Odinga/Obama..two peas in a pod. Now isn’t THAT scary!?

            • Northwest rain

From what I’ve heard (concerned letter from WA State Governor) many of the new voters won’t be voting down ticket.

So all these low information voters will be voting for Obama only.

Since some of the kool aid drinkers believe Palin is Obama’s running mate — I wonder if they will also check off Palin’s name??

          • Elizabeth

The Zogby “polling” results make zero sense to me. Two weeks ago, Obama was leading by only 2.
What’s happened since then other than Joe the Plummer, Joe Biden threatening WWIII, undecideds being called racist and Sarah Palin becoming the new, new thing ?

Does ANYONE really known how he arrives at his numbers?

      • AnninCA

What’s fascinating to me now that the state polls are reflecting what we saw last week in the national polls….a clear tightening….is that nobody will admit that they were wrong about Obama having reached the “tipping point.”

        Obviously, not yet. :)

After Palin’s performance on SNLive, it was reported that she refused to do the scene with the moose and Amy whats-her-name had to do it.
This morning Fox News reported that wasn’t true – SNL never planned for her to do that skit.
But I don’t know their reference.

The campaign handlers must have done a good job at sucking out Palin’s soul when she did the two ill fated MSM interviews. I’m glad she is back to her old self again.

Well…I got a nice email to share with you this morning. And to IMAGINE when the decision of using our weapons against our enemies ever arrives we have Sarah Palin pushing the first finger. The woman has a BIG responsibility and the media thinks Obama is our guy.

Question: What is America ‘s first line of missile interceptor defense that protects the entire United States ?

Answer: 49th Missile Defense Battalion of Alaska National Guard.

Question: What is the ONLY National Guard unit on permanent active duty?

Answer: 49th Missile Defense Battalion of Alaska National Guard

Question: Who is the Commander in Chief of the 49th Missile Defense Battalion of Alaska National Guard?

    Answer: Governor Sarah Palin, Alaska

Question: What U.S. governor is routinely briefed on highly classified military issues, homeland security, and counter terrorism?

    Answer: Governor Sarah Palin, Alaska

Question: What U.S. governor has a higher classified security rating than either candidate of the Democrat Party?

    Answer: Governor Sarah Palin, Alaska

According to the Washington Post, she first met with McCain in February, but nobody ever found out. This is a woman used to keeping secrets. She can be entrusted with our national security, because she already is.

    Now you DO know

In one of our editorial column in Denver, a “journalist” stated how when Gov. Palin changed her tone and winked when she spoke at the debate, it was a great affront to women. HUH? So it’s okay for Barry to get into the different accents and vernacular in front of his crowd but when Palin does it, it’s an affront because she’s setting a bad example for women (the writer’s assetion is that Palin is trying to use her sexuality to sell her point). The left are becoming annoyingly stupid.

  • Dr Felter

Why do I believe that McCain will win? Two main indicators:

    1) In so far that internal polling has leaked, both campaigns have the race very close, particularly in the swing states. That normally means that Obama is overstated and McCain understated +/- 3-5%.

    2) The curious phenomenon this year that 50-80% repondents refuse to talk to pollsters.

It is a near certainty that an overwhelming proportion of these “refuseniks” are republican/unaffiliated/undecideds, simply because the “public”/MSM perception is that Soetorobama (SOB)
has it made. SOB repondents are happy to talk; anti-SOB respondents are cautious/fearful/guarded and concerned about where information they give will go (ACORN/Obama-thugs/racist calling) Don’t forget that they have been called on their private phone number.

That also explains the polls being all over the place; the pollsters are having difficulty in obtaining proper representative samples.

Finally, a number of polls ask issue questions – and then allocate candidate preference accordingly!

    • Khan Krum

The last point you made is analogous to why many McCain/Palin supporters don’t put bumper stickers on their cars (including me). They don’t want them to get keyed or torched by the enemy, who is wont to do such things (especially if things don’t go their way on 4 November).

    • AnninCA

On RCP, there’s some good news about state polls finally tightening. I was wondering about that. The national major polls (versus the media polls) were showing a lot closer race than the state polls were indicating.

Now, it’s showing up in the state polls.

    • lark

I agree that the polls do not reflect the population but my take is that the environment has changed and the polls stayed the same. But all your assumptions seem in order.

    • Deep Truths

The pollsters don’t care how they look now. They’re job is to win for Obama and beat down expectations for McCain.

Ergo, with all the money and all the backing at MSM and pollsters, Obama can ‘appear’ to be ahead while he’s in ‘reality’ already lost.

The Obama media and pollsters are trying to keep its head above water.

      • workingclass artist

Remember Republicans don’t look at polls. THey have the weird sense of duty that makes them vote even when it looks like it makes no difference.

Ladies and gentlemen keep faith with the good people of this nation. Vote even if you think it is meaningless.
The greater the number of votes the better chance we have, even in California.

    • Judy L. NC

My gut feeling too is that McCain will win simply based on the fact that his alleged lead in polls is single digit. Outspending McCain 3-4:1, he should be ahead by 20 points. I am hopeful.

    • Jackarooty

I hope so…I want to see Keith Olbermann’s head explode if McCain wins.

      • athena

Although that vision is enticing – seeing America be led by a great American just sends a “thrill up my leg”! Voting early today for McCain/Palin and I can’t hardly wait!

      • barry bums a ciggie

Me too! I want to see keith cry and use his shoulder pads to wipe the tears.

    • Liz B

I also have noticed over the past, that when something is very popular, people love to be seen going along with it, but if they fear it might not be acceptable they do not advertise…agreed?

By this basis alone, I know who is voting Obama in my neighborhood because they proudly display their signs all over, and they have displayed bumper stickers also for several months…the McCain signs are in clusters…if you go into a neighborhood where there is one, you will find ten cloistered together on that block, if there is even one or two Obama signs…no McCain signs.
I believe this is a good omen for McCain, because there are far more yards in my area with NO signs than there are yards with signs.
Less passionate voters? maybe. Fear of Reprisal?
      More likely the scenario.
My point (and I do have one) is this: the seemingly most popular thing to be right now, in America, is an Obama supportor, if by going on that theory, you wanted to be thought in high regard by associating yourself with a positive trend, you would be more LIKELY to advertise your kinmanship to your neighbor, when there are one or two Obama signs posted in a neighborhood and then no others, it looks VISUALLY, as if the others in the neighborhood do not agree.
I don’t know if this makes sense, but using this analogy, I believe there are more McCain voters in my area than Obama, because I feel I have seen what is out there for BO, so far, with McCain it is only advertised (but by everyone on the block) if the neighborhood seems favorable to the message.

      • George Smathers

when something is very popular, people love to be seen going along with it

This reminds me of a statement my sister made in a municipal election in which the Democrat will always win by a wide margin over the Republican. Although she agreed more with the Republican, she voted for the Democrat anyway because she believed to vote for someone you know will definitely lose is to throw your vote away.

That is low information feel good voting at its worst, to use your vote to feel after the fact that you are on the winning side. Your vote is to be used to create the winning side even if your side will not win this time, but over time it will if more people are convinced of the merits of your position,

People aren’t talking because anyone who plans to vote for McCain has been called a racist — so people aren’t talking.

Expect the exit polls to be WRONG — be prepared for false reports all day on 4 November. This is especially important for those of us on the WEST coast. I expect that many McCain voters will tell the people doing the exit polls that they voted for Obama.

Early reporting of exit polls CAN influence voting on the West Coast. Thankfully two states are using Absentee Balloting — WA and Oregon.

How much of a jackass do you have to be to be a woman hater?!

I don’t give a shit what Palin does or doesn’t do at this point as long as she’s still able to stand after the merciless onslaught of hatred spewed at her and her innocent family.

And that goes for Cindy McCain as well.

  • OBAMA IS A FRAUD

Less than 2 weeks to go and I am still praying 100 times a day that Palin and McCain make it to the White House. She’s soooo incredible. To have tolerated the filth and hate spewed at her by the leftie wing nuts and still shine like the star she is…Wow. Having seen her at rallies I can say that I have not been this inspired politically since Reagan. She WILL get into the White House one way or another. As for the BS polls, I still say McCain will win. The MSM is trying to demoralize and humiliate the McCain voters because they are scared. Keep in mind that this was supposed to be a NO BRAINER and Obama was supposed to take this by a huge landslide. He’s not. I wrote Howie Dean, Nancy Pelosi, Donna Brazile and Harry Reid and thanked them for screwing up so badly that McCain had a shot in an election that should have given Dems a free ride. I think I will send them champagne November 5.

Even still, do you remember how the majority responded to peer pressure in junior high? Most didn’t fight back against, but neither did we just go with the flow. Instead we avoided the pressure, flew under the radar, and did what we knew was right.

        Tito the Builder speaks out

In the audience Saturday, there were plenty of people who were mad about it. There was real anger at this rally, but it wasn’t, as some erroneous press reports from other McCain rallies have suggested, aimed at Obama. It was aimed at the press. And that’s where Tito Munoz came in.

Someone asked why Munoz had come to the rally. “I support McCain, but I’ve come to face you guys because I’m disgusted with you guys,” he said. “Why the hell are you going after Joe the Plumber? Joe the Plumber has an idea. He has a future. He wants to be something else. Why is that wrong? Everything is possible in America. I made it. Joe the Plumber could make it even better than me. . . . I was born in Colombia, but I was made in the U.S.A.”

“How come Joe the Plumber is every second? I’m talking about NBC, MSNBC, CBS, ABC, and CNN.”A black woman with a strong Caribbean accent jumped in the fray. “Tell me,” she said to Corn, “why is it you can go and find out about Joe the Plumber’s tax lien and when he divorced his wife and you can’t tell me when Barack Obama met with William Ayers? Why? Why could you not tell us that? Joe the Plumber is me!”

I think Obama has a small but genuine lead now and seemingly has the trend. I once thought McCain could win, if need be, with no Wright or kenya or any of that. I no longer think so. If McCain wants to be the nice guy who finishes last there isn’t much we can do to stop him. I hope the steps needed to win are taken, but who knows.

I increasingly wonder if perhaps, like forests need to burn every now and then, the American political landscape has to be purged by hitting bottom. I know right wingers like Rush, even though they attack Obama and will vote for McCain, actually think there is much positive to an Obama win. They are confident he will be the next Jimmy Carter and lead to the next true conservative president like Carter lead to Reagan.

Remember, we really do get the government we deserve.

    • lark

To those voting for Obama it doesn’t matter how unqualified he is. Wright and Odinga doesn’t really matters. The only question they want answer is the famous question “WHAT WILL YOU DO FOR ME.”

Obama answers that question very well for them. But Biden doesn’t. There is the problem that Obama is attached to Biden.

All that is required is to push Biden to talk. Tomorrow he will be all by himself until Sat. McCain and Palin need to put Biden today in a place where he has to answer some questions. It doesn’t matter what questions. He is everything Obama is not and vice versa.

Biden is McCain’s secret weapon. The people need to hear it from Biden that Obama is no good. Every exposure of Obama by Biden is worth its weight in gold. The key of the election rest with Biden.

Palin knows how to hurt Biden. McCain needs to go out there and kill Biden by comparing Biden to Obama and prodding Biden to answer questions.

    • Deep Truths

Get a grip. You sound like an Obama mole.

Eight years of the worst president ain’t enough for you? The slightest chance of O’Biden administration should put a fire in your belly to fight to the bitter end. If not, wussies such as yourself truly do deserve an administration from Hell.

      • lisa in va

Yeah, I don’t understand the negative posts that I’ve been reading from some regulars. A month ago I was worried. Not anymore. I’m confident of a McCain win. Every day I get more confident. Every time Biden opens his mouth, I get more confident; every time someone vandalizes homes and vehicles, I get more confident; every time someone calls entire regions of people racist, I get more confident. Every time Palin gets seen by the audience of the MSM, I get more confident. When I see her at a rally with long time Dem feminists standing beside and endorsing McCain/Palin, I get more confident.

You might be able to buy an election in a small town or even a city. But it becomes more difficult, the larger the populace.

        • lark

I don’t understand the negative posts

          Pessimism.

I don’t get confident with all those things you mentioned, but I get hopeful. McCain is a heroic person who is fighting almost the entire establishment to win; almost all by himself. I have my fingers crossed.

I think Palin is doing a terrific job. I always from the beginning had a feeling that is Palin and Biden who will carry McCain over the top. Palin is doing very well by confronting Biden and Obama. She just need to do a little more by actually doing something very different that has been done now in politics. And McCain should too. That is to contrast Biden and Obama. Show how different these two characters are and pit them against each other. I think there is sufficient time to push them to defend that they are like oil and vinegar, like the Odd Couple. I think Biden will burst with that pressure and sink Obama. I would put all my eggs in that basket. Biden can sink Obama.

    • oowawa

“Remember, we really do get the government we deserve.”

As Shakespeare wrote in “Hamlet”: “if we all got what we deserved, who would escape a whipping?” (at least that’s how I remember it).

I’m sure not ready to write off this election and hope that if an Obama presidency burns down the forest, we can then have some healthy new growth. Nor can I (to extend the Shakespearean imagery) hope for a “deus ex machina,” an unexpected game-changer descending from out of nowhere, to thwart Obama’s ambitions (such as a last-minute Whitey tape)in the final scene of the last act.

I guess I’m just weary of all this–polls, biased newscasts, hope for a last minute scandal, despair or joy over the latest “news” that might conceivably have some effect on the election. I’m ready to vote, and it will be for McCain-Palin. I’m ready for the election. Let’s do it.

And let’s hope that on December 25th the USA isn’t celebrating “Obamamas.”

Now you tell me why women would not vote for this remarkable woman? I took this off ABC’s blog- and look how she talks about her marriage and what women need. Wake up ! Women must wake up—this is the only chance you will have to have a woman in office. Hillary is not going to run in 2012 – she sold her soul to the devil, unfortunately, or sold her soul to a position under Obama’s presidency. Stop thinking anymore that she is going to surface- she was in my town joined in the hips with Obama. We made a mistake in choosing her, let us choose the right one now! Sarah Palin said: “I’ve been very, very blessed to have a husband who’s supported me along the way. He’s a great dad who doesn’t disappear at bath time or run from diaper duty, and I appreciate that,” Palin added. “But a lot of women have it much, much harder than I’ve had it. And they need child care, which today can cost some families a third of their household budget. And they need reforms in labor laws that allow greater flexibility in the workplace, including more tele-commuting. And they need a tax code that doesn’t penalize working families.”

“Women of my generation were allowed finally to make more of our own choices with education, with career, and I have never forgotten that we owe that opportunity to women, to feminists who came before us,” Palin said. “The belief in equal opportunity is not just the cause of feminists, it’s the creed of our country — equal opportunity.”

“Now no one person, no one leader, can bring an end to all of those ills, to all of the injustices inflicting upon women,” Palin said. “But I can promise you this, if I am elected, these women, too, will have an advocate and a defender in the 47th vice president of the United States.”

    • WasLNbutNoBamaBotsKeepStealingMyName

Yes, I thought Gov. Palin’s speech was remarkable. After all, what has the like’s of such despicable organizations such as Emily’s list done for women lately…turning against Hillary and giving money to Barkey?!

    • http://www.hillaryorbust.com Hillary or Bust

It’s truly a sin that some feminists are so blinded by the choice issue that they can’t see the bigger picture of having women of all backgrounds and beliefs represented in higher office. My, how far feminism has fallen that a great woman such as Palin can be so demonized by women who call themselves “feminists.”

      • AnninCA

It’s her fundamental religion and stance on abortion. That’s so tied up in most women’s idea of their own “feminism.”

I agree with you. That’s a very small part of the story.

And one that shouldn’t be the deciding factor.

    • wodiej

well said and unfortunately I have to agree w what you said about Hillary. She not only is supporting a completely unqualified and dangerous person for President, he treated her like shit and stole the nomination from her. I would rather drop out of politics then do what she is doing. Can you imagine the book she would write? What is she going to write about now-how she allowed herself to be shit on then went back for more…don’t think so. That’s not my role model for a woman.

I don’t mean to offend anyone about Hillary, that is just my feelings about it. It’s diappointing but I’m movin’ on.

Former Secretary of State Madeline Albright, one of the most prominent Hillary Clinton supporters now in support of Barack Obama, admits it is a “statement of fact” that the election of the Democratic senator from Illinois as president will result in him being tested by a generated international crisis by America’s enemies.
Responding to last weekend’s comments by Obama’s vice presidential running mate Joe Biden — who said Obama would be tested within the first six months of his administration — Albright told CNN’’s John Roberts, “It’s just a statement of fact. In my book [“Memo to the President Elect: How We Can Restore America’s Reputation and Leadership”], I talk about the fact that there are a lot of big issues out there, but also something unexpected. You always have to be prepared for that.”

I told my husband — we are white trash — we will embrace our new white trash position and put that old toilet in the flowerbed — fill it with compost and plant flowers in the old bowl and tank. To complete the new design — I’ll add a vote Palin/VP sticker on the tank!

We are white trash — hear us roar — in numbers too great to ignore!!

(This is a take off on Sugar’s remark about learning that she was now “white trash” — I LOVE Sugar’s blog!!)

Read the whole thing. Andy Martin and the Hawaiian adventure have made it into an opinion column at BHO’s personal paper, the Chicago Sun-Times.

    October 22, 2008

    BY NEIL STEINBERG Sun-Times Columnist
    Opening shot …
Does former Chicago Police Cmdr. Jon Burge finally being arrested mean that the Fraternal Order of Police will once again try to sponsor a float honoring him in the South Side St. Patrick’s Day Parade?

    Neil Steinberg

For those with short memories, Burge and four fellow officers were fired or suspended in 1993 for suspicion of torturing suspects — bad guys all, I’m sure, but if our society allows cops to clamp typewriter covers over the faces of those they believe have done something wrong, well, it looks bad.

The float was to be called “Travesties of Justice,” and Burge and his four fellow officers were invited to sit aboard it, waving at the crowd.

What a sight that would have been. Alas, parade organizers found this overly political, and asked the FOP — whose board had approved the float, 27-0 — to withdraw from the parade.

“We’re disappointed,” said the FOP’s then-president, John Dineen. “We were just supporting our fellow officers, who we believe got a raw deal.”

Some officers — operating on the theory that nobody in uniform can ever do anything wrong — still feel that way. The need to back one another up — so important on the street — becomes the beginning and end of their personal code. To them, the Burge story is about bad press and people hating cops; the idea that it might offer a valuable lesson is, alas, inconceivable.

Myself, I tend to side more with U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald, who said, “No one is above the law.” The obligation to back up a fellow officer stops if he becomes a criminal.

Re-read the sentence above. You might think that no cop could possibly disagree — and I should point out that most of them wouldn’t.

But some would, and will, vehemently, angrily. Some guys just don’t get it, and I’m sure I’ll be hearing from them. I’ll share some with you Friday — the printable parts at least.

    Petitioner is undaunted
The funniest scene in Peter Sellers’ 1979 classic film, “Being There,” is where Chance the Gardener, a childlike man thrust out of a narrow world where he grew up and recast as Chauncey Gardiner, political pundit, finds himself on TV, where his simple-minded utterances are taken as deep philosophical insights.

The scene cuts to the woman who raised him, Louise the maid, slumped in a chair, a look of bogglement on her face as she watches him on TV.

“It’s for sure a white man’s world,” she says.

I had a similar moment when Andy Martin showed up on the front page of the New York Times.

Like everyone in the media, I’ve been getting Martin’s e-mails for years. They always left me torn.

On one hand, there was wonder in them, a fantasy world as rich as J.R.R. Tolkien’s, with politicians and journalists replacing hobbits and orcs, a brain fever puppet theater, a conspiracy theorist’s stag film starring that dashing global cynosure, Andy Martin.

On the other, there was Royko’s edict about not firing a bazooka at a flea, and since nobody took Martin seriously, there was no need to waste space refuting him. Why give him the attention that his grandiose, inflamed ego so obviously craves?

Besides, it smacked of making fun of the mentally ill — or should I say, with an eye toward the inevitable lawsuit that is the Andy Martin trademark, making fun of somebody who in my sincere yet inexpert opinion is mentally ill.

Then the Times featured him, as the originator of the lie that Barack Obama is actually a closet Muslim and sleeper-cell terrorist, fallout from Martin’s being interviewed on Fox News — in a suit and tie, repeating for the cameras the most outrageous fallacies imaginable about the current object of his imagination.

That’s how our media works nowadays. The sock monkey has a tea party in Highlights magazine that is referenced on fun4all.com, and after a few intermediate stages, he ends up being quoted on the world economy in Time.

My colleague Mark Brown took a swing at Martin, and drew a delighted response from him, giddy with the attention, which even further steeled my resolve. This would be an Andy Martin-free zone.

But shortly after Martin hied himself to Hawaii, to dig into Obama’s roots, Obama announced that his grandmother is sick, and he has to go to Hawaii to visit her.

Now what would the rational person make of this? Might not we suspect that, oh just maybe, Obama’s grandmother is sick, and he is visiting her?

Typical of media dupes and patsies. But not Andy Martin, who sees through the charade.

“High Noon in Hawaii” begins Tuesday’s first press release. “Barack Obama and his nemesis, Obama author Andy Martin, face off in Honolulu.

“Martin’s Hawai’i [sic] investigation causes Obama to panic and suspend his presidential campaign to head off Andy’s stories.”

    Of course he is.

There’s a line in Martin’s lawsuit, filed to get at Obama’s birth records, also too delicious to pass by. After noting that judges dismissing his claims “have sought to vilify and demonize petitioner,” he concludes:

“In Hawai’i, petitioner is accompanied by a network television camera crew. Thus the bona fide news value of his current litigation activity is not subject to question.”

There we go! Has the man grasped our national zeitgeist, or what? Maybe I’ve gotten this whole Andy Martin thing wrong — I also thought cell phones were a fad. After all, Martin’s view of the significance of Bill Ayers is only a little beyond Sarah Palin’s. If he could gull Fox News and the New York Times, who knows what lies in Andy Martin’s future? He could end up anchoring the CBS Evening News (and yes, I realize those last 17 words are what will get into his next bulletin).

By the end of “Being There,” Chauncey Gardiner is being talked about as a candidate for president.

On a related note, Andy Martin claims he has discovered some secret about Obama that “devastated him” when he found out. He is putting Granny Toot right smack dab in the middle of the issue…but in tru soap opera fashion, we have to wait for the next installment to find out the deep, dark secret. I don’t hold much hope, but cross your fingers.

It’s an interesting observation that McCain may be trying to suppress inclination to riot “if” (when) he wins. I’ve thought for weeks that he probably doesn’t push the racial-sounding stuff because he wants to keep/gain the good will of black people. He also may feel pretty confident of winning without using it. People on TV keep going on about how Wright and/or Ayers aren’t affecting anything. Well, how would we know when the MSM, by and large, lie to us? For one thing, if you don’t listen to Fox these days–or right-wing radio, I suppose–how would you get even an inkling of the truth? This morning, I overheard MSNBC on my husband’s TV, and someone was declaring Palin one of three big liabilities for McCain. Oh. Is that a fact…

    • Shiloh

How could he feel confident of winning without using the tools he has?

    • AnninCA

I find it hard to understand why the commentators are saying this, when she continues to draw in record crowds everywhere she goes. It defies logic.

What I think McCain is concerned with is that the UN is in America watching this election for racism. In 2004 13 Democrats from the House and COLIN POWELL then
Secretary of State invited them in. They opened the door. Be prepared when John McCain and Sarah Palin win that the UN fueled by all the racist accusations by Obama and the DNC. In my opinion this is why they are making them, to try and establish a case. Watch the DNC make a case for him to at least be Prime Minster.

      Palin Thwarts The Gas Cartel

By INVESTOR’S BUSINESS DAILY | Posted Tuesday, October 14, 2008 4:20 PM PT
Energy: Iran resurrected its idea of a “gas cartel” to control gas markets like oil. But even if it succeeds, the U.S. won’t be vulnerable. If you wonder why, look to the governor of Alaska.

That’s right, Gov. Sarah Palin took a powerful preemptive step in August to shield the U.S. from a coming gas cartel. Palin’s effort to create the Trans-Canada Alaska gas line — which would provide a vast new trove of natural gas each day to the U.S. — effectively nullifies the emerging gas cartel’s potential impact on America.
If OPEC strikes you as a bad group, the new cartel for natural gas, led by Russia and Iran, will be even worse.
Russia has made standoffish statements about the plan, but won’t repudiate it. “A gas OPEC is an interesting idea,” then-President Vladimir Putin declared last year. Based on Russia’s moves since, the Heritage Foundation’s Ariel Cohen believes it’s a stealth move from the Kremlin to keep buyers unperturbed as the cartel slowly forms.
He’s right. This week in Tehran, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad quietly drew up the organization’s charter and will take it to Moscow next week.

Iran, Russia, Qatar move on natural gas cartel

      Oct 22, 2008 14:14

Russians, Qataris and Iranians met in Teheran on Tuesday to discuss setting up a natural gas cartel, similar to the oil-based Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).
The notion of a gas cartel was brought up in January 2007 by Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, but it is now gaining momentum and may require just a few more meetings before an accord is finalized.
Iran, Russia and Qatar account for nearly a third of the world’s natural gas exporters.
The European Union relies on Russia for a large part of its natural gas imports and is concerned that any such cartel will affect supply and prices.
he EU expressed opposition to a gas cartel, saying energy should be sold in the free market.
A strengthening of economic ties between Iran and Russia could also be a source of concern for the United States, which is spearheading efforts to isolate Teheran and pressure Iran into abandoning its controversial nuclear program.

Yet the UN isn’t watching for SEXISM????

Well that would be too easy for those ass-hats to find.

        Exhibit A = The damned t-shirts == Palin is a C***.

Or the video of Obama making his remarks and gestures against Hillary Clinton — THAT would not take a UN interpreter to explain.

As for racism — 95% blacks voting for the so called black candidate??

Nuff said — proof of racism.

  • PaddyJ

The polls, with small exceptions, are being given the Axelweasel treatment – distortion and manipulation. You can bet the real, i.e. internal polls show a much different picture. Why else is there such evident desperation, tension and the huge spending bump on ads for Barky? And yet the gap closes.
I believe that if you deduct 6 to 8 points across the board that is probably closer to what’s really going on.
With a solid Republican turnout and vigilance over vote fraud and disruption at the polling stations it’s a McCain/Palin win big time.

  • Joker

I just saw a brain dead woman on Fox saying it was okay to say that Sarah believed it was god killing our troups. Will the chosen ones people stop at nothing….I was starting to understand what McCain was saying about not using the whitey tape..Now I say use everything. Throw all the damn dirt on the table…………

  • Judy L. NC

My gut feeling too is that McCain will win simply based on the fact that BO’s alleged lead in polls is single digit. Outspending McCain 3-4:1, he should be ahead by 20 points. I am hopeful.

Why isn’t the media reporting that Obama may not be a born US citizen?
Mr. Andy Martin is in Hawaii “The Obama investigation in Hawai Part Two
Obama’s Hawaii Years: The truth finally revealed Obama’s tortured
family life and secrets. His grandmother has been sick for a while, and no visit
by Obama. When he visits his loving grandmother the children don’t visit with him.
There is something wrong here. Is the media really willing to turn over the country
to a person we really don’t know. A person who associate with known terrorist , and people that hate America. Wake up America we may lose many freedom we took for granted.

The result of PC upbringing, I’d say. They would cringe typing in the word “Negro” which would be the right catagory used legally for “Race” in 1961 and beyond.

Thank you Larry, Susan and the many other wonderful posters on this site. This site is really a salvation for me when I get discouraged reading and seeing biased media coverage.

I also agree with other posters that McCain will win – I am sure you all have noticed how desperate the bots have been lately. I also might add that I have watched several of the McCain / Palin rally’s both together and seperately and there are alot of young people in the audience but the media never reports it. Not all young people are for Nobama- there is hope for our youth yet.

    McCain will win.

Yes, just like Mac has gone out of his way to accomodate the media, unlike Barry who actually f@cks with them all the time.

But, the media heads are not PLAYING the time Sarah and Mac give them.

I have a friend who works at a major network who tells me what goes on and what they say on the sets. The Producers, actors and talking heads.

But, I have taken up the challenge after listening to Lynnette ask us to get votes for John McCain every day. I’ve added another bumper sticker to my car and I am now committing full days for McCain/Palin. …so this is probably my last comment for the day. lol

Don’t look now, we are revising Truman v. Dewey all over again. McCain-Palin are going to pull this out with less money, heart and grit and directly talking to the people instead of the bought MSM who is worried about how their money is going to look. Have you seen NBC/MSNBC lately? I hear they have to make huge cuts and are putting all their eggs in making Obama win. Well, we shall see.

Breaking on API, Berg has officially been retained regarding the Mihcelle Obama tapes and Fox News is negotiating the release in the next couple of days/definitely before 11/4/08.

Re: Andy Martin. Yet again he makes promises then puts off the day of reckoning. He has done this so many times that it’s hard to take him seriously. Now we’ve been told that Wednesday the truth will be revealed. Oh wait – now it’s Oct 27. I’m expecting his usual tact – Oct 27 will come and go with no mention of his supposed discoveries.

I can’t imagine anything will save John McCain right now. It’s hard to win when every major news service and every big celebrity works against you and your opponent’s supporters think they’re voting for Jesus.

    • Northwest rain

Yep — and his so called expose book about Obama — Andy Martin was too damned lazy to put in a table of contents, index or REFERENCES. The book is virtually useless.

I don’t watch videos where the Obambi character appears, but opening some of the links posted here and listening to this individual talking, I noticed that he always says ‘this country… ‘the American people’… I will do for ‘them’ or ‘their’ country. He sounds totally detached… Also, I don’t understand how many people can say that he expresses himself so beautifully! In the past, before discovering this forum, I listened once in a while his ‘speeches’ and they sound like a mumble jumble to me. Most of the time I got lost or felt sleepy after 5 minutes. Even that English is not my mother tongue and I am still learning the language, I can tell the difference.

I am enjoying this forum very much because it is helping me to improve my vocabulary. Thanks!
