[Update * Donation Match Drive!] You Have the Power: Pennsylvania is Close, Support The Denver Group Now

Update from SusanUnPC: “Anonymous H,” one of our readers, has offered to “match up to $500 if NQ posters can provide receipt of a donation to the Denver Group.” Bud White, who collaborates regularly with Medusa, would be the best person to send your receipt to, as well as me. So please send validation to Bud White’s public e-mail address, carrothersmichael at yahoo dot com or to me at susanunpc at gmail dot com. Special thanks to “Anonymous H” for her generous offer!
::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Medusa’s original post: According to a rumor on Daily Kos, Obama’s internals show him with a mere 2 point lead in Pennsylvania. If true, this is very bad news for the Anointed One. John Kerry carried Pennsylvania by only 2.5 points, and Kerry didn’t insult the voters there.

Heidi Li Feldman and Marc Rubin of the Denver Group and Democrats for Principles Before Party (DFPBP) have two ads currently running in different metro regions in Pennsylvania. Watch the most recent one, here:

Pennsylvania is key in the election, and as you may have heard, Democratic Representative Jack Murtha first called his own Pennsylvania constituents “racists” but has now softened the insult by calling them “rednecks.” In an interview with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Murtha said:

There is no question that western Pennsylvania is a racist area

But actually it turns out that these people are the gun-toting, bitter, religious types that the Dems find so clingy and bitter. Murtha clarified his remarks to mean that:

some of his constituents in western Pennsylvania are “rednecks” and the entire region just five to 10 years ago was “really redneck.

Marc Rubin’s fabulous post on No Quarter How Democrats Can Defeat Obama, See McCain Win, Still Get Everything They Want and Respect Themselves In The Morning spelled out the reasons why many Democrats refuse to vote for Obama:

Many Democrats seem to be going through a period of conflict over this election. They see Obama for what he is: a dishonest snake oil salesman, unfit and unqualified to be President, throwing out one sweet talking lie after another as the political Mr. Goodbar, trying to pick up as many votes as he can get.

Rubin rightly states that Obama must be defeated in order to “fumigate” the Democratic Party of its corrupting influences. And he urges people to vote for McCain to send a clear message to the party that gave us the Rules and By-Laws that awarded Hillary’s votes to Obama:

Obama is the nominee because of a dishonest primary in which these same people, along with the press, did everything possible to sell Obama as the nominee and do it as dishonestly as they knew how, including rigging the roll call vote, violating every Democratic Party rule and procedure in the process.

Dean, Pelosi, Brazile, Fowler and every member of the DNC who engineered and went along with fixing the process needs to go. Those who won’t resign (though I think many will after an Obama defeat) need to have their power and their base removed, so the that the Democratic Party can air itself out. And the only way that can happen is with an Obama loss. And the bigger the better.

Rubin is a former advertising executive and he understands how advertising works. In a recent interview on No We Won’t radio, with Riverdaughter, Heidi Li and Harriet Christensen, Rubin explains how skewed the polls are and why, and he says that with enough money to create ads, he feels that the DFPBP could influence this election away from Obama. Listen to the interview here.

Donating to The Denver Group’s DFPBP is a powerful way to make a difference now. If we can get 500 No Quarter regulars to donate $20 we, as a community, could raise $10,000 to run powerful, persuasive ads in Pensylviania and other battleground states!!! Now is the time to act. You have the power. Click here to donate.

Remember what Hillary said:

For everyone here in Ohio and across America who’s ever been counted out but refused to be knocked out, for everyone who has stumbled but stood right back up, and for everyone who works hard and never gives up — this one is for you.

I just got back from a McCain/Palin rally in Pittsburgh this evening and I was very impressed with the crowd. A lot of Dems for McCain and surprisingly a lot of youths, under-voting age as well as college-age. I believe it will be very close in PA… <please everyone help make phone calls to the swing states… we’ve got to do our part>

Look at this News outlets sweat over exit poll accuracy

Media outlets are preparing for the possibility that their Election Day surveys could be skewed because of overstated support for Barack Obama, largely because of the enthusiasm of his supporters.

While exit polling is a notoriously inexact science—early exit poll results suggested John Kerry would be elected president in 2004—the introduction of several new variables, ranging from the zeal of Obama’s supporters to his racial background to widespread early voting, is causing concerns among those who charged with conducting the surveys and the networks that will be reporting them.

        • bev

Read the full article how they use exit polling to suppress the vote. Make sure everyone gets out to vote no matter what the exit polls are tellin you.

          http://www.renewamerica.us/columns/wambough/050107

        • DAB

I know that I would not participate in an exit poll because I believe they should not be a part of this process. Why not just wait for the votes to be counted — is that too much to ask???

I saw on Cavuto’s show that the Nickolodeon poll of kids indicated Obama 50 — McCain 48. It was described as generally being more accurate in the past than other polls because it cuts out all of the potential deception of what people do or do not tell pollsters. It is rather based on what is heard in conversations in the home and better reflects what will actually happen. While this still shows an Obama win, it is extremely narrow and may only indicate a popular and not an electoral win. Or it could be a bit off.

Make it Google? They have given Obama over 400,000. Have to wonder if they are also giving him free web use as well. Notice how often his deaths head grin appears on so many pages?

One of the founders endorsed him and there is talk he may be on Obama cabinet. Google is too powerful, and it seems too radical. They know too much about our lives and now have a tracking devise in the web that can track peoples activity from blog to blog. No thanks on Google.

News from the ground in Western PA…just returned from the McCain rally at Robert Morris University (for those outside of PA this is in mostly Democratic Allegheny County).
The line was long, the gymnasium was full and the crowd was excited. They cheered John McCain even when he screwed up a bit in his opening remarks (I won’t go into it here). I can tell you with a high degree of certainty that this is McCain country, just like it was Clinton country (I attended the Clinton rally at Soldiers and Sailors Hall as well as Bill Clinton’s visit to our local YMCA). The 12 Obama protesters looked ridiculous, even though that is exactly who the local news stations were interviewing, I did not see them interviewing any of the folks standing in the line to get in that stretched out of the building and around it (and we were late comers, so most of the line was inside). To confirm my feeling that John McCain has an excellent shot here in Western PA, the 7-11 coffee cups marked McCain are outselling the Obama cups by 10 cups! This local convenience store in Neville Island has Election Coffee Cups and you can choose between McCain, Obama or Undecided. The clerk after a little convincing disclosed the numbers and John McCain is ahead! The folks here in PA take exception to be called racist, rednecks, etc. mostly because we happen to live in one of America’s most liveable cities, we have a very stable housing market, good paying jobs, world class hospitals and universities and some of these people are calling us REDNECKS. The audacity!

So she breaks her hip … and she’s about to die. Give me a break – is she scheduled to die on Friday of a broken hip? If she caught pnemonia while she was in the hospital, that might be one thing. But still, old people recover from that stuff all the time.

Nancy Reagan just broke her hip and she’s already out of the hospital.

    • ritamary

This article contains more details about the incident which caused Obama to refer to his grandmother as “a typical white person”. Obama’s grandfather refused to drive his grandmother to work even though a man had been bothering her at the bus stop the previous day. We get a glimpse of where Barack learned it is okay to treat women like shit. No compassion or concern whatsoever that his grandmother was frightened. His grandfather is the one who originally put the racial spin on the incident.

In the book, he recalled overhearing Toot ask her husband for a ride to work, because a particularly aggressive panhandler had accosted her for money at the bus stop the day before. When Stanley Dunham refused, his grandson couldn’t understand why.

“Before you came in, she told me the fella was black,” his grandfather explained, according to the memoir. “That’s the real reason why she’s bothered.”

Obama said the words were “like a fist in my stomach.”

“Never had they given me reason to doubt their love; I doubted if they ever would,” he wrote. “And yet I knew that men who might easily have been my brothers could still inspire their rawest fears.”

  • WasLNbutNoBamaBotsKeepStealingMyName

      Obama’s International Socialist Connections
      Accuracy in Media
Campaign workers for Senator and presidential candidate Barack Obama are under fire for displaying a flag featuring communist hero Che Guevara. But Obama has his own controversial socialist connections. He is, in fact, an associate of a Chicago-based Marxist group with access to millions of labor union dollars and connections to expert political consultants, including a convicted swindler.

Obama’s socialist backing goes back at least to 1996, when he received the endorsement of the Chicago branch of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) for an Illinois state senate seat. Later, the Chicago DSA newsletter reported that Obama, as a state senator, showed up to eulogize Saul Mendelson, one of the “champions” of “Chicago’s democratic left” and a long-time socialist activist. Obama’s stint as a “community organizer” in Chicago has gotten some attention, but his relationship with the DSA socialists, who groomed and backed him, has been generally ignored.

OK people, Chicago is freaking corrupt! This headline is from today. Not the 1960s or 1970s, 2008. This cop electroshocked a suspect’s testicles – that is NOT a metaphor.

Ex-Chicago Cop arrested in torture cases

Justice for Melvin Jones is coming late.

Jones is dying. In and out of consciousness, according to his lawyers, it’s possible he doesn’t yet know the big news that broke Tuesday. That former Chicago Police Cmdr. Jon Burge, the man he met in an interrogation room years ago, heard a loud federal knock on the door of his lovely home nestled beside a boat dock in Florida early Tuesday morning.

Arrested and cuffed, Burge is now charged with perjury and obstruction of justice, and he is ordered to appear in federal court in Chicago Monday.

It took too long, 26 years. And it took the intervention of the feds.

That’s because neither the Chicago Police Department nor the Cook County state’s attorney’s office nor Mayor Daley, who once served as state’s attorney, nor a court-appointed special prosecutor had the courage or the political will to stand up against the shame that Burge brought upon this city.

The Precious has big troubles and not where people think.

    October 21, 2008

It is clear to me the distinct possibility key Democrats are trying to sabotage The Precious’ run for the presidency. Where’s the evidence? Try this on for size:

Biden’s latest remarks on The Precious being tested by foreign interests in the beginning of his theoretical presidency. Murtha calling his own constituents racists, apologizing for it and AGAIN sticking his foot in it by calling some Pennsylvanians “rednecks.” Barney Frank all but assuring of a tax increase under The Precious. Thinking back a bit, there was Wes Clark self destructing and getting disinvited to the convention. Although not a Democrat, the Colin Power endorsement in my view completes the circle linking The Precious to the same power structure that brought us Bush and the Iraq war, thus doing more harm to The Precious than good. Then there is Bill Clinton and his carefully crafted subliminal remarks.

Bloggers are well aware of The Precious’ past and I find it safe to assume Biden, Frank, Murtha and Clark know all about him as well.

Start digging around, I bet you will find more sabotage occurring. Clearly us bloggers know what a disaster The Precious will be as president and we most likely have some foxes in The Precious’ hen house. The foxes must also resent how The Precious and DNC treated Hillary in the primary. I know we do!

PA has become like an abused spouse in this election, with Obama and Murtha wearing the wife-beater’s. A victory for McCain there would be vindication for the Americans who have been insulted time and again. (Not to make light of domestic violence, just an analogy.)

  • Martin

PA PUMA voting for Palin. Yes, PA is no sure thing for the Dems.

  • Nobama

The 2% is not just a Kos rumor. On Fox there was a report that the McCain campaign was showing the exact same numbers. This was earlier in the afternoon. I remember because I had clicked on the Kos link from either here or another blog. I have not read through all the posts here so maybe someone else has already mentioned the Fox story.

We need to have faith. Even republicans were wondering what the heck the McCain campaign was doing in PA.

  • Anne Marie

Well, this is good news. I am from PA, and, as I have said many times before on these sites, the “national polls” never jived with what I see and hear in and around my community (Northeastern PA).

Both men and women, old and middle age (the “dependable voting block”) don’t like Obama…never did…never will. The college crowd has been mesmorized and WILL vote for him. However, will they actually stand in line? Did they remember to request an absentee ballot by the deadline? My kids are in college and did vote by absentee ballot, but only because I picked up the materials and mailed them. College students? I’ve got two. Believe me, they are way too busy with their own agendas to worry about anyone else’s.

I have lived in this state my entire life. If Obama wins here, I think I’ll have to move. Pennsylvanians are not the “Park Avenue” type, but I always believed that we had more common sense than to place our trust in a snake oil salesman. “Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.”

Thanks for the info. It made my day.

p.s. Rendell really hates Obama, as much as Hillary does. He is just “playing the game” for the sake of “the party,” whoever the hell that is anymore.

    • http://COMMENT thierry

DO WE CHOOSE TO GO AGAINST THE PARTY? I DON’T THINK SO ;IT WAS THE PARTY WHO CHOOSE TO GO AGAINST WE THE PEOPLE THEREFORE WE NEED TO STOP PLAYING THE GAME,FOR IT CAN BE FATAL.

  • DAB

If you recall, the PA polls in the Primary showed Obama winning by 2 when Hillary won by 10. I think that McCain took notice of this and the current poll is probably reflecting this same disconnect.

I am just so disgusted with the Democrats and their conduct that I’m almost embarrassed they want to claim “Democrats for McCain”.

But we must remember, it’s the politicians selling us out. They not Democrats.

I could sure use some good state poll news. Thanks!

  • Read my lipstick

I live in western PA and despite what Murtha says, I am neither a racist nor a redneck. For all of my voting life, I’ve been an Independent and only registered as Democrat in March so that I could vote for HRC in the PA primary. After the election, I will quietly change my registration back to Independent. I’ve always felt that no one owns my vote and having no party affiliation helps me to enjoy the best of both worlds.

I stopped by my local McCain Victory Center tonight, signed up to make phone calls, and picked up a yard sign: Another Democrat for McCain. My daughter and I planted it in the front yard – we’ll see how long it survives.

I can’t wait until election day is over. McCain must win.

  • Brian_C82

I don’t believe for a second that the people of Pennsylvania will vote for Obama. Hillary trounced his ass in that state, and Palin is making huge waves campaigning there. I predict a bigtime upset on election night.

DON’T JUST VOTE FOR A POLITICAL PARTY BECAUSE YOU ARE A MEMBER OF IT.FOR THE BEST INTEREST OF THE COUNTRY,ALWAYS EXCERCISE YOUR OWN JUDGEMENT,SOMETHING THAT COULD LEAD YOU TO VOTE AGAINST YOUR OWN PARTY .DON’T JUST FALL IN LINE LIKE DONKEYS.

The idea that Pumas or Democrats for Principle or whatever you want to call yourselves are anything more than a rounding error 20 places to the right of the decimal is laughable. Trying to poll for them is measuring angstroms with a yardstick. If the McCain folks want to lay out a fully catered bus for daytrips to PA or pay room and board for your overnight, hey what the hell. Otherwise save yourselves the trouble.

    • karen for Clinton (McPalin ’08)

      Dave,

No need to worry. There are only 12 PUMAs. Right?

Or is it more like 12 million?

If you watch C-Span’s Washington Journal, which is a really good barometer by the way, you’ll notice callers are starting to get really pissed off over the piling on of Joe the Plumber, the race-baiting and the lack of freedom of the press.

I kind of believe McCain’s going to win. In fact I am starting to relax for the first time in months.

  • deminva

I wouldn’t waste your breath, tarheel. No one seems interested in facts here, least of all the poster. I love that this dKos diarist is conflated with all of Daily Kos for the purposes of this post. Odd, isn’t it, that the poster doesn’t bother to link to subsequent posts showing that Obama is hardly bothering to campaign in PA any more, because it’s solidly blue. Or to RCP or 538 polling averages for PA. Or to anything else that might lead toward an objective appraisal of McCain’s chances in the Keystone state.

A whole lot of vitriol and willful ignorance here!

    Re: Barack’s trip to Hawaii..
His last, week-long “vacation”, right in the middle of the campaign, was just as TexasDarlin was exposing the fraudulent COLB.
    Now, this 1-day trip …

He picked up the REAL BC on the first trip, & is having it “fixed”. Now, he’s either putting it back, or replacing it with the new one.

Gotta make me one o’them tinfoil hats… :)

I was wondering about PA before I read this post. I live near an Obama storefront in NYC and walk by it every day, and yesterday they were going all out to recruit people to go door to door in PA. I overheard one of the volunteers saying in a very concerned tone that if they didn’t convince the Hillary Dems there to fall into line the Messiah might lose. Frankly, I’m not sure how well the Upper West Side demographic would play out in terms of persuading the undecided voters in the Keystone State. Most of the folks I see around the Obama shop would probably do him more harm than good.
